TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V384000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PARTS DO TO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. THE DEALER (FERMAN FORD, 24825 US HWY 19 N, CLEARWATER, FL 33763 (727) 797-2277) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A POSTCARD FROM TK HOLDINGS, ALERTING HER THAT THEY FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL: I RECEIVED A LEGAL NOTICE FOR OWNERS OF VEHICLES WITH TAKATA AIRBAG INFLATORS ON 10/23/2017. I PROCEEDED TO ENTER MY VIN NUMBER AT AIRBAGRECALL.COM AND WAS ADVISED THAT INDEED MY VEHICLE HAD DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS AND WAS PART OF THE RECALL. I THEN PROCEEDED TO CONTACT JIM HUDSON FORD DEALERSHIP,1201 WEST MAIN STREET, LEXINGTON, SC AT (803) 359-4114 ON 10/24/17 AT 3:00PM ATTEMPTING TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR MY VEHICLE AIRBAGS TO BE REPLACED AT NO COST. I WAS TOLD THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAD NOT RECEIVED AND WILL NOT RECEIVE REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS, AND THAT THEY HAD NO FURTHER INFORMATION. I CALLED 1800-327-4236 AND COULD NOT GET A LIVE AGENT ON THE PHONE AND THE SYSTEM HUNG UP ON ME. WHAT DO WE DO TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AS THIS IS HIGHLY DANGEROUS?
TAKATA RECALL - THIS RECALL HAS BEEN OUT FOR OVER A YEAR (JUNE 1, 2016) AND FORD STILL DOES NOT HAVE A SOLUTION TO THIS RECALL. THIS RECALL WAS ALSO NOT DISCLOSED TO US WHEN WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE LAST JULY, AND FORD STILL DOES NOT HAVE A TIMELINE OF WHEN THEY EXPECT TO HAVE A SOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V024000 (AIR BAGS) EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR REPAIR. THE CONTACT NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION AND WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RECALL PER THE TK HOLDINGS LEGAL NOTICE AS OF OCTOBER 2017. THE DEALER (CITY WORLD FORD, 3850 BOSTON RD, BRONX NY, 10475) STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED, BUT NO ONE HAS OCCUPIED THE SEAT SINCE LEARNING OF THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

HUNTINGTON FORD (333 W JERICHO TPK, HUNTINGTON, NY 11743) CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

TAKATA RECALL I SMELL GAS COMING FROM MY CAR EVER SINCE GOT FROM CAR LOT AUTOMAXX AND THE TRANSMISSION IS ACTING UP AS WELL AS THE SUSPENSION TOO. IT'S OVERHEATING ON ME AND HAVEN'T EVEN HAD THE CAR 2 MONTHS. THE RECALL HAS BEEN ON GOING O.N THIS CAR FOR YEARS THEY'RE IS STILL 2 RECALLS OPEN ON MY CAR. I NEVER SHOULD OF BEEN SOLD THIS CAR BECAUSE NEVER HAS GOTTEN THE OK FROM THE FORMAL PROBLEMS ITS HAD IN THE PAST. NOW I'M SCARED GOING TO CATCH ON FIRE WHILE DRIVING
CAR WILL JERK,SLIP,BEAT AND BANG. STOPPED PULLING AT A RED LIGHT. GOT TOWED HOME . TOOK OFF BATTERY CABLE FOR 30MINS . STARTED WORKING AGAIN FOR AWHILE. DOES THIS OFTEN,REPAIR SHOPS HAVE NO CLUE EXCEPT FOR NEW TRANNY.IT WILL ALSO TRY TO PULL FORWARD WHILE IN PARK WHEN YOU HAVE THE OTHER PROBLEMS ALSO. IT HAS DONE THIS WHILE SITTING STILL AND WHILE RUNNING 70 ON THE INTERSTATE.
IN MOTION THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED CAUSING LOSS OF POWER TO THE BRAKES. A SOUND OF AIR COULD BE HEARD WITHIN THE CAIN.THIS FAILURE ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH INVOLVING MYSELF AND GRANDCHILDREN.
TAKARA RECALL FOR THE PSAN INFLATOR
GOING 55 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN CAR LOSE POWER. ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE IT'S IN NEUTRAL BUT SHIFT LEVER IS IN D. IF YOU PRESS GAS, ENGINE SPEED SHOWS ON THE TACH BUT TRANSMISSION NOT RESPONDING. MADE A VERY HARROWING CONDITION AS I TRIED TO FIND A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER. WHEN SHIFTED FROM D TO P, VERY HARD JERKING MOTION THAT SHOOK THE CAR VIOLENTLY, TRANS MAKES A VERY HARD CLUNKING NOISE, AND AS IF WANTS TO SEPARATE FROM THE ENGINE. SAME RESULT WHEN SHIFTED FROM P TO R, AND P TO D. CAR IS CURRENTLY PARKED WAITING FOR MECHANIC TO DIAGNOSE. DON'T HAVE MONEY TO TAKE IT TO OVERPRICED DEALER. FROM WHAT I CAN SEE FROM BLOGS, FORUMS, BOARDS, ETC, ON THE INTERNET LOOKS LIKE NOT AN ISOLATED CASE.
TAKATA RECALL FIRST NOTIFIED ON IN OCT.2017. CALLED DEALER WHO SAID NO PARTS AVAILABLE AND HE WOULD CALL ME. I HAVE COMMUNICATED WITH DEALERSHIP DIRECTLY AND STILL NO CALLS. RECEIVED SECOND LETTER IN JUNE 2018. CALLED DEALER, STILL NO PARTS. NHTSA AND TAKATA INDICATED ON WEBSITE FORDOWNER.COM ,THAT HIGHEST RISK VEHICLES INCLUDE OLDER VEHICLES IN AREAS WITH HIGH HEAT AND HUMIDITY, I LIVE IN GEORGIA WHERE MOST OF THE SUMMER CAN BE DESCRIBED IN THIS WAY. IT IS 9/14 AND THE TEMP IS 92 WITH HIGH HUMIDITY. MY CAR IS OLD: 2008. FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS CENTER GAVE ME A CASE #15376127-D7D7K9 AND TOLD ME NOT TO LET ANYONE SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. VERY INCONVENIENT TO HAVE TO ASK FRIENDS AND RELATIVES TO SIT IN THE BACK SEAT! ONLINE REPORTS TELL ME SUPPLIES ARE BEING RESTORED. WHY IS FORD NOT TAKING CARE OF ITS CUSTOMERS. WHY IS THERE NOT A LAWSUIT TO HASTEN THESE RECALLS? HOW CAN THE NHTSA HELP ME AND OTHERS WITH THIS RECALL? I AM NOT UPLOADING LETTERS, FOR I AM SURE THAT YOU ARE VERY FAMILIAR WITH THEM.
DRIVING AND OUT OF NO WHERE, RECEIVE AN ERROR MESSAGE THAT SAYS "ODO DATA ERROR", THE CAR HOLDS THE CURRENT SPEED BUT IT'S VERY APPARENT THAT SOMETHING IS OFF AS THE CAR IS NOW MAKING A HUMMING/AIR PRESSURE SOUND (SPEEDOMETER & TACHOMETER STOPS WORKING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS) WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE WRENCH, AIRBAG, ABS, STABILITY CONTROL INDICATOR AND ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATE. WITHIN 5 MINUTES NEW ERROR APPEARS (TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR FAULT). ONCE YOU HAVE PRESSED THE BRAKES AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP THE CAR IS EXTREMELY HESITANT TO ACCELERATE EVEN WITH THE GAS PEDAL PUSHED COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR IT DOESN'T GAIN POWER UNTIL IT HAS ROLLED ABOUT 15-20 FEET AND AT THAT POINT THERE IS A EXTREMELY LOUD BANG WHICH MAKES YOU THINK THE ENTIRE UNDERBELLY OF THE CAR HAS FALLEN OUT. AT THAT POINT IT REGAINS SPEED AGAIN, BUT IF YOU STOP IT DOES THE SAME THING ALL OVER. SWITCHING GEARS RESULT IN A LOUD BANG AND JERKING ACTION OF THE CAR WITH LITTLE TO NO ACCELERATION POWER. TEMPORARY REMEDY IS TO PULL OVER TURN CAR OFF WAIT A MINUTE OR TWO THEN RESTART THE CAR. AT THAT POINT WHEN SWITCHING GEARS THE BANG AND JERK HAPPEN AGAIN WITH THE CAR SLOW TO ACCELERATE FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN IT TAKES OFF LIKE A RACE HORSE. SOMETIMES THIS REMEDIES IT WHILE OTHER TIMES THE SAME PROCESS IS REPEATED MULTIPLE TIMES WITHIN ONE TRIP. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON CITY STREETS AND MAJOR EXPRESSWAYS AT SPEEDS OF 35 MPH TO 60 MPH. FIRST STARTED EXPERIENCING THE ISSUE AT ABOUT 170K MILES AND HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A YEAR WITH NO SOLUTIONS FROM MECHANICS. IF A MECHANIC WITH EQUIPMENT/COMPUTERS CAN'T REMEDY A REPAIR AND SEEING HOW THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE FORD SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL TO REPAIR ANY COMPONENTS THAT COULD TRIGGER THE ISSUE. THIS IS PURE NEGLIGENCE SEEING THAT THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS. MY OPINION IS IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND COMPUTER SYSTEM.
WHEN THEYING TO ACCEPT ON A CITY STREET THE CAR WOULD NOT GO. ODO ERROR CAME UP. SPEEDOMETER WOULDN'T MOVE AT ALL. CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. WRENCH LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. CAR MOVES A LITTLE BIT BUT DID NOT RUN NORMAL AND CLUNKED HARD WHEN PUT IN PARK. MECHANIC SAYS IT'S A SENSOR ISSUE THAT'S COMMON IN THIS CAR.
"TAKATA RECALL" - ON 09/27/2017 WE TOOK OUR 2008 FORD EDGE IN FOR THE AIRBAG REPAIR AT FAIRFIELD FORD & LINCOLN (CA) AND WERE TOLD THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIR. RECALL NOTICE 16S26/NHTSA RECALL 16V-384 WAS ISSUED IN JULY 2016 AND 15 MONTHS LATER THERE IS STILL NO REMEDY FOR AN AIRBAG ISSUE. ACCORDING TO THE NOTICE OF BANKRUPTCY FROM TK HOLDINGS, WE SHOULD TAKE OUR CAR IN FOR REPAIRS, HOWEVER, WE ARE UNABLE TO DUE TO FORD'S LACK OF SUITABLE REPLACEMENT.
WHEN VEHICLE IS RUNNING BUT STATIONARY, DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL COMPLETELY CAUSES A LOUD HIGH PITCHED WHISTLING SOUND. DURING NORMAL OPERATION, DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL CAUSES A HISSING SOUND. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS A LEAK IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER. VEHICLE IS 9 YEARS, THREE MONTHS IN SERVICE, AND HAS 50,000 MILES. FORD SAYS NOT INCLUDED IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER SERVICE EXTENSION.
WHILE DRIVING ,IN FULL MOTION, , THE CAR COMES TO AN ALMOST STOP! SCARES YOU TO DEATH, YOU CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVEN'T ACCIDENTLY PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL , ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH LIGHT UP ,THE CHECK ENGINE, THE LOW TIRE GAGE SYMBOL, THE TOOL LIGHT,, THE SPEEDOMETER STOPS WORKING, . THE CAR REFUSE TO MOVE FORWARD, PLACED IN REVERSE IT MOVES BACKWARD ,THE FORD DEALER IS UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM ,CODES DON'T SHOW UP TO HELP IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THE DANGER IS IT HAPPENS WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING. ITS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM (VERY EXPENSIVE) BUT THAT'S NOT WHAT IT IS. YOU REPROGRAM IT TEMPORARY, BY TAKING THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE LOOSE FOR A FEW SECONDS, THE CAR DRIVES PERFECT UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN, ITS HAPPEN THREE TIMES WITH THIS CAR, I HAVE CALLED THE FORD COOPERATE OFFICE TO REPORT THIS PROBLEM.
I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE SINCE SEPTEMBER 5 2017 AND WAS TOLD BY DRIVE TIME THAT IF I CALL THE DEALERSHIP THAT I CAN GET MY VEHICLE IN RIGHT AWAY FOR THE REPAIR BUT WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAY THAT THE PART IS NOT BEING PRODUCED. I HAVE HANDICAP PEOPLE WHO RIDE IN MY VEHICLE THAT CAN BE HURT IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND AN ABNORMAL HISSING SOUND WAS HEARD. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TASCA FORD (1300 PONTIAC AVE, CRANSTON, RI) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 78,000.
I HAVE A FORD EDGE 2008. STARTING FROM 08/28/2017, THE BRAKE MAKES "HASSING" SOUND WHEN IT IS PRESSED DOWN. IT IS AS HARD AS A ROCK AT THE BEGINNING AND SOFT AS A SPONGE LATER. IT'S FUNCTION IS COMPROMISED. WHEN IT HAPPENED YESTERDAY, IT CAUSED COUPLE OF VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I ALMOST HIT TWO CARS IN FRONT AND OVER RUN A TRAFFIC LIGHT BECAUSE THE CAR CANNOT FULLY STOP FULLY. I DROVE THIS CAR TO THE DEALER THIS MORNING. IT WAS BRAKE BOOSTER PROBLEM ACCORDING TO THE TECH SERVICE. HE DROVE THE CAR AND FELT EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE OF THE COMPROMISED BRAKE FUNCTION. HOWEVER DUE TO HIS TIGHT SCHEDULE, HE CANNOT FIT MY CAR INTO HIS REPAIR SERVICE. FORD ISSUE A RECALL 13N02 IN 2016 FOR BRAKE BOOSTER PROBLEM. HOWEVER IT ONLY COVERS CARS 2010-2013. THERE ARE PLENTY OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE REGARDING THE SAME PROBLEM FOR CARS MADE IN OTHER YEARS. IT IS A SYSTEMATIC PROBLEM THAT RELATES TO THE DESIGN OTHER THAN MANUFACTURING PROCESS RELATED TO BATCHES. A SYSTEMATIC RECALL SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE ANY CUSTOMER GETS INTO A FATAL SITUATION.
NONE OF MY AIR BAGS DEPLOYED IN MY ACCIDENT. THEY ARE RECALLED TAKATA AIRBAGS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 25-30 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE A SINGLE IGNITION COIL FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,235.
MADE A TURN OFF INTERSTATE INTO A BUSY ROAD, MY VEHICLE JERKED AND LOST ITS ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. LEAVING ME IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH CARS FLYING AROUND ME TO AVOID HITTING ME. I MANAGED TO MAKE IT INTO A PARKING LOT. I HAD A FRIEND CHECK THE VEHICLE AND WITH THE HOOD UP HE HAD ME PUT IN REVERSE AND IT LOOKED LIKE THE MOTOR WAS GOING TO JUMP OUT OF THE VEHICLE, SAME HAPPENED IN DRIVE. HE PUT HIS COMPUTER ON AND A CODE FOR THE DRIVE SPEED SENSOR WAS PRESENT. THE CODE WAS CLEARED AND THEN NOTICED THE SPEED AND RPM GAUGES WERE INACCURATE. THIS HAPPENS ON OCCASION. UPON RESEARCH I SEE THIS SENSOR HAS A RECALL ON IT BUT NOT FOR MY YEAR 08 EDGE. PLEASE RECALL ASAP. THIS CAN CAUSE SOME SERIOUSLY BAD ACCIDENT WHEN YOUR VEHICLE LOOSES ITS ABILITY TO ACCELERATE WHEN IN TRAFFIC. I FEAR THIS WILL HAPPEN AND MY LIFE IS IN THE LINE. FORD IS AWARE THERE IS A APPARENT PROBLEM NOTED BY OTHER YEAR MAKE MODEL RECALLS. NOTE: THIS IS THE ORIGINAL COMPLAINT.....................TODAY THE SAME HAS HAPPENED AGAIN, I WAS GREETED BY HORNS BLOWING AND AGGRESSIVE DRIVERS BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING BUT COAST TO THE NEXT INTERSECTION TO TURN OFF. NHTSA PLEASW DO SOMETHING IF POSSIBLE. THIS OUTPUT DRIVE SPEED SENSOR IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE KILLED SOON. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS THROUGHOUT THIS FEED UNDER SCATTERED CATEGORIES MAINLY BECAUSE MOST DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND DEALERS CANT FIGURE OUT IF THE VEHICLE DOESN'T THROW UP A CODE. I HAD MINE CHECKED WHEN THE WARNING LIGHT WAS ON SO I WOULD KNOW THE ISSUE. UNFORTUNATELY THE DEALER COULDN'T HELP BECAUSE WE CLEARED THE CODE. I CHECKED INTO GEETING THIS FIXED BUT ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THE PART IS UNAVAILABLE, AND THE LABOR WOULD BE ABSURD IF THEY HAD TO REPLACE. PLEASE HELP!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A CLATTERING NOISE EMITTING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED HOT WATER COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT LIFTED THE HOOD AND OBSERVED THAT THE VEHICLE'S WATER PUMP HAD BURST, WHICH CAUSED WATER TO LEAK INTO THE ENGINE. A CERTIFIED MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP FAILED AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO FAIL AS WELL. THE WATER PUMP, TIMING CHAIN, TENSIONERS, PHASERS, AND SEVERAL OTHER UNIDENTIFIED PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR MY VIN# IN MARCH 2017; 17S01/NHTSA RECALL 17V-024; THERE WAS A SERIOUS DEFECT WITH MY TAKATA PASSENGER-SIDE AIRBAG SYSTEM (BY TAKATA INFLATORS). THE NOTICE STATES: INFLATOR MAY RUPTURE IN THE EVENT OF CRASH NECESSITATING AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT RESULTING IN METAL FRAGMENTS (SHRAPNEL FROM THE DASH) STRIKING OCCUPANTS CUASING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. I HAVE GRANDCHILDREN WHO RIDE IN MY CAR! MY CAR IS ABSOLUTELY OFF LIMITS-A DEATH TRAP, UNSAFE TO DRIVE! I CONTACTED AT 13 FORD DEALERS, EACH TOLD ME THERE AREN'T ANY FORTHCOMING PARTS, UNAVAILABLE DUE TO TAKATA'S BANKRUPTCY. FORD HAS REPAIRED SOME VEHICLES BUT NOT MINE AND IS RESPONSIBLE TO TAKE ALTERNATE MEASURES TO ASSURE ME OF A SAFE VEHICLE! I'VE SPENT $32,000 ON THAT "PRE-OWNED" VEHICLE FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP, AND ANOTHER $5,200 IN REPAIRS SINCE PURCHASING AND ONLY DROVE IT FOR 35,000 MILES. I REGULARLY MAINTAINED & SERVICED THIS VEHICLE. THE DEFECTS WERE NEVER DETECTED.
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR BRAKES ON THE CITY FRONTAGE ROAD, NOTICED THEY BECAME SPONGY AND THEN A LOSS OF BRAKE FUNCTIONING.. I WOULD PRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND IT WOULD NOT RESPOND. WOULD HAVE TO SLOW DOWN ABOUT 1/3 BLOCK WHILE APPLYING BRAKES TO GET IT TO STOP AT INTERSECTIONS. DROVE IT TO A BRAKE SHOP AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE POWER BOOSTER AND BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. WAS TOLD CAR BY THE MECHANIC THAT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND I DECIDED TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO RETURN THE CAR HOME SAFELY.
BOUGHT CAR USED JULY 2017 FROM A DEALER. HAS PROBLEMS STARTING A FEW WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE OF NOT WANTING TO MOVE. IF IN HEAVY TRAFFIC DOING 5-10 MPH ON EXPRESSWAY, WHEN TRAFFIC FINALLY BREAKS CAR WILL NOT MOVE, RPM'S GO UP BUT TRANSMISSION IS STILL STUCK. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT REALLY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AS I AM SEEING A LOT OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME THING. TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALER DUE TO EXTENDED WARRANTY. THEY WERE ABLE TO REPLICATE WHAT I TOLD THEM. THIS IS AN INTERNAL PART FAILURE BUT I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR IF MY EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL BE PAYING FOR THIS. UNACCEPTABLE THAT SO MANY HAVE THIS SERIOUS ISSUE WHICH COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF CAR DOES NOT MOVE ON A BUSY HIGHWAY OR AT A STOP LIGHT. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN HEAVY STOP/GO TRAFFIC, FROM A STOP LIGHT WHEN LIGHT CHANGES TO GREEN. UNLESS YOU CAN FIND A WAY TO PULL OFF AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON IT WILL NOT MOVE.
WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS THERE IS NO POWER. WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE SPEEDOMETER. WOULDN'T WORK THE TACK REVED UP THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE LITTLE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR WOULD NOT GO. NOW IT'S GOING TO COST AROUND $3000.00 TO FIX IS WHAT I WAS TOLD AND THE CAR ONLY HAS 90,000 MILES ON IT. I SEE A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. FORD SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL FOR THESE TRANSMISSIONS. BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN I LOST POWER GOOD THING I COULD PULL OVER SAFELY.

I ALWAYS MAINTAINED MY "PRE-OWNED" VEHICLE, PURCHASED FROM DEALERSHIP WITH 25,000 MILES. BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE A PLETHORA OF PROBLEMS AFTER 2,000 MILES. I'VE PAID OVER $8,000 IN REPAIRS AND ONLY DROVE IT 35,000 IN 8 YEARS TIME, BUT MAINTAINED IT PROPERLY & REGULARLY: I'VE HAD TO CHANGE THE BRAKES & PADS, & BATTERY TWICE, IT'S WHEEL RIMS CONSTANTLY LEAK AIR IN THE WINTER CAUSING FLAT TIRES, CHANGED ALL 4 TIRES, AND ON AUGUST 2, 20017, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH, MY STEERING CONTROL SUDDENLY LOCKED UP! THERE WAS NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE'S MOVEMENTS- NO ABILITY TO MAKE LANE ADJUSTMENTS OR TURNS! I AND MY ENTIRE FAMILY INCLUDING GRANDCHILDREN COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED!! LUCKILY, THE NEXT OFF-RAMP WAS A STRAIGHT SHOT & I WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE HWY SAFELY AND BRING THE VEHICLE TO STOP DESPITE NO STEERING CONTROL. I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP WHICH INCORRECTLY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM, & DID NOT BOTHER TO INSPECT IT FOR THREE DAYS. IT NOW NEEDS A COSTLY ($1500) RACK AND PINION TO REPLACE IT'S RUSTED OUT PRESSURIZED FUEL LINE FOR POWER STEERING FLUID. IT REMAINS UNREPAIRED TO DATE SINCE THERE IS ALSO A TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL W/ POSSIBLE FATAL INJURY ON THIS VIN. THE REPAIRS HAVE BEEN DELAYED BECAUSE THIS VEHICLE IS AN UNSAFE DANGER TO DRIVE! THE FUEL LINE DEFECT WAS UNDETECTABLE EVEN THOUGH I HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE CARE AND CHECKUPS.
TWO WEEKS AGO I WAS DRIVING ON NJ ROUT 9 WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL BUT IT WASN'T. ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO A SAFE AREA AND STOP. I DID NOT TURN THE CAR OFF AND EXITED THE CAR AND TRIED TO OPEN THE REAR DOORS AND HATCH BUT COULDN'T. NEXT I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES BEFORE STARTING IT. WHEN IT STARTED, ALL WAS FINE. THE NEXT MORNING I DROVE IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP WITHOUT INCIDENT. THERE WAS ONLY 62,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME BUT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED BECAUSE IT WAS MORE THAN SEVEN YEARS. THE OSS WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF 750.00. THIS IS NOT THE FIRS MAJOR ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. LESS THAN ONE YEAR AGO TWO COILS FAULTED CAUSING A BACK FEED OF TOO MUCH VOLTAGE TO THE COMPUTER CAUSING IT TO FRY. A COST OF MORE THAN 3,000.00 TO REPAIR.
I MADE A TURN OFF INTERSTATE INTO A BUSY ROAD, MY VEHICLE JERKED AND LOST ITS ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. LEAVING ME IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH CARS FLYING AROUND ME TO AVOID HITTING ME. I MANAGED TO MAKE IT INTO A PARKING LOT. I HAD A FRIEND CHECK THE VEHICLE AND WITH THE HOOD UP HE HAD ME PUT IN REVERSE AND IT LOOKED LIKE THE MOTOR WAS GOING TO JUMP OUT OF THE VEHICLE, SAME HAPPENED IN DRIVE. HE PUT HIS COMPUTER ON AND A CODE FOR THE DRIVE SPEED SENSOR WAS PRESENT. THE CODE WAS CLEARED AND THEN NOTICED THE SPEED AND RPM GAUGES WERE INACCURATE. THIS HAPPENS ON OCCASION. UPON RESEARCH I SEE THIS SENSOR HAS A RECALL ON IT BUT NOT FOR MY YEAR 08 EDGE. PLEASE RECALL ASAP. THIS CAN CAUSE SOME SERIOUSLY BAD ACCIDENT WHEN YOUR VEHICLE LOOSES ITS ABILITY TO ACCELERATE WHEN IN TRAFFIC. I FEAR THIS WILL HAPPEN AND MY LIFE IS IN THE LINE. FORD IS AWARE THERE IS A APPARENT PROBLEM NOTED BY OTHER YEAR MAKE MODEL RECALLS.
