The contact owned a 2008 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently vibrated and jumped. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the passenger’s side CV axle seal and lower ball joint failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact was informed that the parts to do the repair had failed. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the repair required an unknown kit. The failure mileage was unavailable.
We were turning a corner at a light and our tie-rod, axel, control arm, sway bar link and CV Shaft all broke at once causing our car to come to a dead stop in the road and we could not even push it out of the road, we were able to purchase the CV Shaft, Control Arm ASY, and The Sway Bar Lnk. for the one side the car is still not moveable we need a tire that we cant afford and from the looks of it the other side may do the same and the part that worries me about our safety is that is it does it on the freeway and we come to a dead stop in traffic or something it will be bad. What we need and I was told that if my car showed up on the recall list for any reason that you would fix any safety issues free of charge and my car did come up on the list. I just purchased the vehicle in november 2020 and was told all the original parts are still on it. Please let me know where to go to get my car fixed this is our only means of transportation to go to school for me and my kids and for my husband to find a job thank you. What we need is a tire for the front passenger side and the driver side fixed asap.

I HAD THE LIFT GATE OPEN LOADING GROCERIES AND IT ALL OF A SUDDEN RELEASED AND CAME DOWN AND STRIKING MY HEAD AND NECK AND I QUICKLY PUSHED IT BACK UP AND IT JUST DROPPED DOWN AGAIN BEFORE I COULD GET MYSELF CLEAR STRIKING ME AGAIN, IT GOT MY NECK AND SHOULDER. I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS FIRST WAS TOLD IT WAS A PROBLEM FOR THE BODY SHOP, BUT THEY QUICKLY DETERMINED IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. THE LIFT GATE IS VERY HEAVY AND I DO HAVE TO SEE A DOCTOR FOR THE PERSISTENT PAIN IN THE NECK AND SHOULDER. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE GROCERY STORE.THERE WASN'T A VEHICLE ACCIDENT BUT I DID RECEIVE AN INJURY TO MY NECK AND SHOULDER, EXTENT TO BE DETERMINED.*DT CONSUMER STATED WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE STARTS TO SHAKE. WELL THIS IS BEEN RECALLED. ON OTHER 2008 FORD. EDGE BUT I THINK MY 2008 FORD EDGE SHOULD BE IN THAT RECALL I RECENTLY BOUGHT MY EDGE FROM A USED DEALER ALL THE SAFETY ISSUES AND RECALLS MY FORD EDGE HAS MY HAS ALL OF THE ISSUES MY FORD EDGE WENT IN FOR TIRE ROTATION AND OIL CHANGE WHEN THEY RETURNED MY CAR I LEFT THE SHOP AND THEN REALIZED THE FRONT TIRE IS VIBRATING WHEN DRIVEN SLOWLY AND TURNS I CALLED FORD TO ASK IF MY CAR WAS ONE OF THE ONES ON THE RECALL LIST FOR BEARING RECALL AND THE SAID NO I KNOW THIS WAS NOT AN ISSUE TILL NOW AND IM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR DUE TO THIS RECALL I FEEL MY CAR SHOULD BE INCLUDED ALSO OF COURSE THE TRANNY IS DEFINITELY NOT WORKING CORRECTLY WHEN ALSO DRIVING SLOWLY IT JERKS TERRIBLY IN TO ANOTHER GEAR. WHILE DRIVING CAR MAKES SEVERE ROARING/ HUMMING NOISE. ALSO WHILE DRIVING MAKING TURNS OR NOT MAKING TURNS THE CAR JERKS UNCONTROLLABLY. WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 30MPH, WE DROVE OVER A STANDARD MANHOLE COVER AND THERE WAS AN IMMEDIATE BANGING NOISE ABOVE THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL AND THE SECTION OF THE HOOD CLOSEST TO THE WINDSHIELD WAS PUSHED UP ABOUT 6 INCHES. WE PULLED OVER AND COULD SEE THE STRUT PRESSING UP AGAINST THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC SHOP WHERE WE LEARNED THAT THE ENTIRE STRUT TOWER HAD BROKEN THROUGH THE STRUT SUPPORT DUE TO A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE SPOT WELDS THAT WERE CONNECTING THE UPPER STRUT MOUNT CAP TO THE VEHICLE BODY. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER NOR THE MECHANIC HAD EVER SEEN THIS KIND OF STRUCTURAL FAILURE. WE ARE GRATEFUL THAT WE WERE NOT ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED, AND WE ARE EAGER FOR THE ISSUE TO BE LOOKED INTO FURTHER TO DETERMINE IF THIS IS A STRUCTURAL DEFECT OF THE 2008 FORD EDGE THAT COULD FURTHER AFFECT OUR OR OTHER FAMILIES' VEHICLE SAFETY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN OVER 1,000 RPMS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT AXLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE AND THE FRONT AXLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NO LONGER BUILD PARTS FOR THE 2008 FORD EDGE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 86,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COIL AND THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHILE DRIVING MY 2008 FORD EDGE, A ROARING TYPE NOISE COMES FROM THE REAR OF THE UNIT. AS YOU ACCELERATE TO NOISE GROWS IN VOLUME. AT FIRST IT APPEARED TO ME AS "ROAD NOISE" I CHANGED PRESSURES IN THE TIRES AND ROTATED THE FRONT TO THE REAR. NOTHING CHANGES. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, IT APPEARS THAT IT IS THE REAR WHEEL BEARINGS. ACCORDING TO FORD THE BEARING HUB AND THE REAR SUSPENSION TRAILING ARM/KNUCKLE ASSEMBLY MUST ALSO BE CHANGED ON THE AFFECTED SIDE. THE TRAILING ARM CAUSES TO MUCH PRESSURE ON THE BEARINGS AND WIPES THEM OUT. ALSO THE WHEELS HAVE TO BE RE-ALIGNED DUE TO THE INSTALLATION OF THE NEW TRAILING ARM. FORD STATES THAT JUST CHANGING ONLY THE BEARING HUB WILL CAUSE THE PROBLEM TO HAPPEN AGAIN. IF THE BEARING FAILS THIS COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH THE POTENTIAL OF SERIOUS INJURY OR WORSE TO THE OCCUPANTS OF THIS VEHICLE AND ANYONE ELSE AS A RESULT OF THIS FAILURE.THIS APPEARS TO BE A POSSIBLE PROBLEM WITH THE DESIGN OF THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM AND NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. PER PHONE CALL, WAS ADVISED THIS HAD BEEN OCCURRING ON SEVERAL EDGE VEHICLES. ONCE TAKEN TO SHOP, CONFIRMED AND ADVISED BOTH THE WHEEL BEARING AND THE CONTROLLING ARM MUST BE REPLACED AS ONE. ADVISED BACK ORDER FOR CONTROLLING ARM, BUT NOT INFORMATION AVAILABLE ON HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE TO RECEIVE. ASKED FORD IF SAFE TO DRIVE AND WAS ADVISE "YES, IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE; IT JUST MAY BE MORE NOTICEABLE/MAKE MORE NOISE". INCIDENT DATE IS LISTED AS THE DATE TAKEN TO TIRE SHOP.
