TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED RAPIDLY ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. 1 WEEK AGO NOTICED A HISSING SOUND COMING FROM WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE BREAK PEDAL AREA WHILE APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE PEDAL AND ALSO WHILE TOTALLY ENGAGED AND VEHICLE IS AT A COMPLETE STOP. YESTERDAY THE BREAK PEDAL HAS BECOME VERY HARD TO PRESS AND BREAK POWER IS VERY POOR AND HESITANT. ALSO HISSING STILL EXIST. THINKING MAYBE BREAK BOOSTER FAILURE OR VACUUM FAILURE.
THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF. THE ONLY WAY TO TURN THEM OFF WAS TO PULL THEM DOWN AND UNPLUG THEM. THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH NUMEROUS FORD EDGE'S AND FORD SHOULD RECTIFY IT.
WHILE DRIVE ALONG WITH NORMAL FLOW OF TRAFFIC, I CAME TO A WELL KNOWN STOP SIGN APPROACHING ONCOMING TRAFFIC IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP, THE VEHICLE DIDN'T HAVE ANY BRAKES AND DID NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD AND THERE WAS A LOUD WHOOSHING SOUND. AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO USE THE BRAKE PEDAL AS I USUALLY DO, THE SAME THING KEPT HAPPENING. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT RATE OF SPEED OR ROAD CONDITIONS. IT IS A CLEAR SUNNY DAY. THE BRAKES SUDDENLY WENT OUT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO STOP. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINES NEEDED TO BE FLUSHED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A HISSING NOISE WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE. A FEW TIMES, THE BRAKE HAS BEEN DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS WHEN TRYING TO STOP THE VEHICLE. BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AN IS NOT THE PROBLEM.
BRAKES STARTED MAKING A VERY LOUD "HISSING" SOUND AND OCCASIONALLY FELT LIKE THE PEDAL WOULDN'T DEPRESS. HAD THE CAR INSPECTED AT DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE BRAKES WERE FINE. TODAY (MONTH LATER) THE BRAKES STILL MAKE THE "HISSING" SOUND AND THE BRAKE WON'T DEPRESS WITHOUT REALLY STEPPING ON IT HARD. IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR WILL NOT STOP. I DRIVE MY KIDS IN THIS CAR AND IT TERRIFIES ME - THIS IS CLEARLY A PROBLEM THAT CAN LEAD TO FATAL RESULTS. I AM SURPRISED TO FIND OUT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE BRAKE BOOSTER, WHICH IS THE PROBLEM; GIVEN THE INCIDENTS WITH GM AND TOYOTA I AM SHOCKED FORD HAS MADE NO EFFORT TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. I AM NOW NOT SURE I WILL PURCHASE A FORD AGAIN IN THE FUTURE IF I CAN'T TRUST THEY WILL ISSUE NECESSARY SAFETY RECALLS.
AT ABOUT 116,000 MILES ON MY 2010 FORD EDGE SE AWD, I STARTED NOTICING THE SMELL OF GAS. WHEN I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO GET CHECKED OUT I LEARNED THAT MY GAS TANK WAS LEAKING. THIS IS A 2010! AND WHAT MAKES ME EVEN MORE FURIOUS IS THAT THE 2007-2008 FORD EDGES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT NOT MINE. ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIRS ARE $3,000.
A LOUD "HISSING" NOISE CAN BE HEARD WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. BRAKES FEEL "SPONGEY" AND REQUIRE CONSIDERABLE EFFORT TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A FULL STOP. I TOOK THE CAR INTO TIRE KINGDOM FOR DIAGNOSIS AND WAS TOLD THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS ON THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE NEEDED REPLACED. THIS WAS COMPLETED ONLY TO FIND IT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE MANAGER CONTACTED FORD AND WAS ADVISED THERE IS A RECALL ON THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER FOR THE MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR OF MY VEHICLE. I CONTACTED FORD TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIR AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND THE REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED. WHEN I QUESTIONED FURTHER I WAS ADVISED THE RECALL ONLY COVERS "SOME" OF THE CARS ASSEMBLED AT THE OAKVILLE PLANT WITH MY MAKE, MODEL , AND YEAR AND THAT THEY COULD NOT COVER THE REPLACEMENT OF THIS FAULTY EQUIPMENT.
BACK DOOR WAS NOT LATCHING AND UNABLE TO CLOSE. MY VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED FROM MY EMPLOYMENT TO MY RESIDENCE AS THE DOOR KEPT POPPING OPEN. FORD FIXED THE LATCH FOR 330.00, THE DEALER SPECIAL ORDERED A NEW LATCHING SYSTEM FOR MY 2010 FORD EDGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS VIOLENTLY DEPRESSED IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO INCREASE IN SPEED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
REAR TAIL LIGHT REPLACEMENT FOR SECOND TIME ALONG WITH MARKER LIGHT. BOTH BULBS AND SOCKETS WERE BLACK AND HOT FROM EXTREME HEAT. CAUSE FOR CONCERN THAT THIS MAY START A FIRE.
THE BRAKES ON MY 2010 FORD EDGE MAKE A HISSING NOISE WHEN PRESSED. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE PEDAL FEELS SPONGY AND THE CAR WILL ONLY STOP WHEN YOU PRESS THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR BOARD. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT FORD IS AWARE OF, YET THEY REFUSE TO COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIR. FORD RELEASED A "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N02" MEMO DESCRIBING THE EXACT SYMPTOMS THAT MY CAR IS SHOWING AND STATED THAT THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM. HOWEVER, THE MEMO STATES THAT ONLY CERTAIN 2010 VEHICLES ARE AFFECTED AND MINE IS NOT ONE OF THEM. I AM TERRIFIED THAT ONE DAY SOON, THE CAR WILL NOT STOP AT ALL AND MY FAMILY AND I WILL BE SERIOUSLY INJURED. WE RECEIVED A QUOTE OF APPROXIMATELY $1400 TO REPAIR THE BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM. FORD IS COMPLETELY AWARE THAT THE BRAKES ON THE 2010 EDGE ARE FAULTY, BUT THEY KNOWINGLY CONTINUE TO PLACE FAMILIES IN DANGER BY NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THAT THE BRAKE DEFECT IS MORE WIDESPREAD.
PROBLEM TO BREAK THE CAR IN A SLOPE. WHEN I PRESS THE THE BREAK PEDAL, IT GONE ALL THE WAY OUT. WHEN I PRESS FOR A SECOND TIME IT STOP AT LEAST 25 FEET TO HIT A WALL. AS PER MECHANIC CONSULTED THIS WAS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE BREAK BOOSTER IN MY FORD EDGE SEL 2010.
I HAVE A 2010 FORD EDGE. WHEN PARKED IN MY GARAGE, I WOULD NOTICE THE ODOR OF GASOLINE. LATER, I NOTICED FUEL STAINS ON MY SLIGHTLY SLANTED DRIVEWAY UNDER WHERE THE EDGE WAS OFTEN PARKED. THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP INSPECTED MY TANK AND FOUND THAT IT WAS SEVERELY CORRODED IN SEVERAL LOCATIONS, INCLUDING THE SEAMS OF THE TANK. SEVERAL CALLS TO VARIOUS NUMBERS FOR FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS ONLY RESULT IN MANY MINUTES ON HOLD, TO BE TOLD THE SAME THING - WHICH IS THAT THE 2010 IS NOT SUBJECT TO THE 14S22 RECALL FOR 2007 AND 2008 MODELS. THE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME TO KEEP MY RECEIPTS WHEN I HAVE THE REPAIRS DONE AND FORD MAY REIMBURSE ME IF THE RECALL IS EXPANDED. THE ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT OF THE CORRODED TANK IS $5000. ON TOP OF THAT, THERE ARE NO TANKS AVAILABLE. THIS GAS TANK PROBLEM IS AN ACKNOWLEDGED SAFETY ISSUE. APPARENTLY, FORD WOULD RATHER I DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT THEIR DEALERSHIP AFFIRMS IS UNSAFE, THAN ENROLL ME IN THE PROGRAMS AVAILABLE TO 2007/08 MODEL YEAR OWNERS WHO COME UNDER THE #14S22 RECALL. HOPEFULLY, THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE HAS REACHED A CRITICAL MASS TO BE DEFINED AS "A TREND." I PRAY THAT THERE ARE NO FIRES, INJURIES OR WORSE BECAUSE OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE FORWARD, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING AND EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS REQUIRED. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A POLE. THE AIR BAGS HAD NOT DEPLOYED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I HAVE ONLY OWNED MY 2010 FORD EDGE LESS THAN A YEAR AND THE PANORAMIC MOONROOF MOTORS WENT OUT. NOT JUST ONE, BUT BOTH. I LIVE IN WISCONSIN AND REALLY CAN ONLY USE THE MOONROOF MAYBE 4 MONTHS OUT THE YEAR, AND FOR BOTH MOTORS TO BLOW IS NOT GOOD. MY FAITH IN FORD HAS DEAD. IT IS GOING TO COST ME OVER 1,000 TO FIX.

BRAKES MADE HISSING SOUND WHEN PEDAL WAS PRESSED AND THEN HAD TO STOMP ON THE PEDAL TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. THE VEHICLE NEARLY SLID INTO A BUSY HIGHWAY AT THE INTERSECTION BECAUSE THE BRAKES DIDN'T ENGAGE. A CERTIFIED FORD TECHNICIAN AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE ISSUE WAS A FAULTY BRAKE BOOSTER THAT NEEDED REPLACED. APPARENTLY, THIS HAS BEEN A HUGE ISSUE WITH MANY FORD MODELS INCLUDING MINE. A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALS HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS DEFECTIVE PART. PLEASE INVESTIGATE! THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THERE IS A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR

I WAS DRIVING UP HILL AT 40MPH, I FIRST NOTICED MY RPMS DROPPING, THEN MY SPEED. CAME HOME AND CALLED DEALERSHIP, AS MY VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY, CAR WAS TOWED TO FAIRFIELD FORD. THEY CALLED LATER TO TELL ME IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY AND HE TOOK IT APART AND CLEANED IT. HE SAID AT THIS TIME, IT WAS FINE. OF COURSE, THIS WAS THE ONE THING NOT COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. WITHIN 2 WEEKS, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. IT WAS INTERMITTENT. SO I HAD MY MECHANIC REPLACE THE PART. *TR
FOUND A TRANSMISSION LEAK ON THE FLOOR OF GARAGE. TOOK TO LOCAL TRANSMISSION MECHANIC WHERE HE DETERMINED THAT THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT REQUIRED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER A REVIEW OF THE INTERNET, FOUND THIS TO BE A PROBLEMATIC ISSUE WITH THE FORD EDGE. COMMUNICATED WITH FORD, HOWEVER NO ASSISTANCE ON MY $1,569.91 COST WAS PROVIDED ...UPDATED 03/31/15 *BF *TR
AIR BAG RECALL OVER 2 YEARS NOT FIXED YET, NOW THEY SAY NO ONE CAN SET IN PASSENGER SEAT
COOLING - WE HAD REPAIRS DONE IN THE AIR & COOLANT . NOTHING WORKS IN THIS CAR. WE WENT TO FORD GRODY TO GET A RENTAL AS THEIR LETTER SPECIFIED BUT THERE IS A 130 ON THEIR WAITING LIST FOR A RENTAL CAR ( ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION) WE BEEN WAITING 3 YEARS. TILL NOW NO PARTS IS AVAILABLE YET
VERY HARD BRAKE. EXTREMELY HARD TO STOP ESPECIALLY AT A SLOW ROLL. BRAKING AT FASTER (20-30MPH) SPEEDS MORE EFFECTIVE, BUT VERY INEFFECTIVE WHEN MOVING VERY SLOWLY (5MPH OR LESS). WHEN APPLYING BRAKE, THERE IS A HISSING SOUND. VERY SCARY TO DRIVE AND ONLY DID TO GET TO REPAIR SHOP. THIS PROBLEM MATCHES EXACTLY AN EXISTING RECALL WITH FORD EDGE 2010'S, BUT FOR SOME REASON MY VIN WAS EXCLUDED IN THE RECALL. CAR REPAIRED AT FORD DEALER, BUT HAD TO PAY MORE THAN $500. *TR
HAD TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL VERY HARD TO STOP, SO BASICALLY NO POWER BRAKES. TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER AND PAID >$600 TO REPLACE THE BRAKE BOOSTER. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE ONE OF THESE IN ANY CAR I HAVE OWNED. THIS IS NOT A REPAIR THAT SHOULD BE NEEDED GIVEN THE NUMBER OF MILES ON THE CAR. FORD SHOULD BE THE ONE PAYING FOR THIS REPAIR. *TR
BRAKE PEDAL BECAME STIFF AND IT WAS HARD TO STOP WITHOUT STANDING ON BRAKE. MECHANIC HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER. NHTSA HAS A FILE # 10052836 AND FORD ISSUED TSB #CSP-13N02 TO NOTIFY AND REPLACE PART FOR ONLY SELECT CARS. IF YOU AREN'T IN THIS GROUP, YOU HAVE NO IDEA YOUR BRAKES WILL SUDDENLY BE DIFFICULT TO APPLY, RESULTING IN ACCIDENTS. *TR
AT RANDOM TIMES WHEN BRAKING THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL FEEL LIKE A BRICK, WITH NO POWER BRAKE BOOST. IT FEELS LIKE THE BRAKES WOULD FEEL IF THE CAR WERE SHUT OFF, BUT IT IS STILL RUNNING. OR AT OTHER TIMES THE PEDAL IS VERY SPONGY FEELING. IN BOTH CASES THERE IS A DELAY IN BRAKING CAUSING A POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS SITUATION. *TR
VEHICLE DEVELOPED A CLANKING / CLUNKING SOUND. FELT LIKE IT WAS DRAGGING SOMETHING VERY HEAVY, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT POINTS SEEMED TO BE DELAYED AND SHIFTING TO A HIGHER GEAR HAPPENED AT A VERY HIGH RPM. STOPPED VEHICLE AND TURNED IT OFF. NOISES WENT AWAY AFTER RESTARTING, BUT ACCELERATION WAS VERY SLUGGISH AND IT DIDN'T SHIFT TO A HIGHER GEAR UNTIL A VERY HIGH RPM, THE GAS PEDAL HAD TO BE PUSHED TO THE FLOOR. TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND IT WAS TEST DRIVEN AND PUT ON THE LIFT. CHECKED FOR ANY MALFUNCTION CODES. THE MECHANIC COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. *TR
THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT FOR ABOUT 1 1/2 HOURS ON A SUNNY DAY. WHEN I GOT IN THE CAR, CLOSED THE DOOR, THE WHOLE BACK WINDOW SHATTERED. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE WINDOW TO BREAK. REPORTING THIS INFORMATION AS IT APPEARS THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH FORD EDGE CARS IN THE PAST. WE ARE HAVING IT REPAIRED USING INSURANCE COVERAGE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE APPROACHING THE PARKING LOT AT 40 MPH THERE WAS NOISE THAT SOUNDED THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS ALSO A GRINDING NOISE WHEN THE VEHICLE MADE A TURN AS THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND DIAGNOSED WITH A POWER STEERING FLUID LEAK. THERE WERE NO REPAIRS COMPLETED ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,200.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING STAYS ON MAJORITY OF THE TIME. YOU HAVE TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR AT LEAST 3 TIMES EVERYTHING YOU GET IN THE CAR BEFORE IT WILL TURN OFF. UNDERSTAND A LOT OF EDGES HAVE THIS ISSUE AND IT SHOULD BE RECALLED. INSTEAD OF HAVING TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. *TR
RETAINING CLIPS FOR PLASTIC DASH TRIM BROKEN, ALLOWING TRIM PIECE TO DISLODGE AND WEDGE BETWEEN DASH AND HANDS ON STEERING WHEEL RESULTING IN INABILITY TO CONTROL VEHICLE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF VEHICLE. THE FORCE CAUSED THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE TO ABNORMALLY ACCELERATE APPROXIMATELY ONE-HALF A MILE AND CRASH INTO THE REAR OF A THIRD VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
I WAS ATTEMPTING TO PARK ON A STEEP INCLINE IN SAN FRANCISCO ON A RAINY DAY, BECAUSE I WAS AWARE THAT MY VEHICLE TENDS TO ROLL BACKWARDS UPON RELEASING THE BRAKE (EVEN WHEN IN DRIVE), I DECIDED TO NOT PARK IN THAT SPOT AND WAS VERY CAREFUL TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE AND GUN THE GAS SO THE CAR WOULD MOVE FORWARD AND NOT ROLL BACK INTO ANYTHING BEHIND ME. I HAD SUCCESSFULLY USED THIS TECHNIQUE BEFORE, BUT THIS TIME GUNNING THE GAS STILL RESULTED IN MY ROLLING BACKWARDS AND CAUSED A COLLISION. AFTER THE COLLISION, REAPPLYING THE GAS MADE THE CAR MOVE FORWARD, BUT NOW THE DAMAGE WAS DONE. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS IS A GEAR SELECTOR PROBLEM, AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR IN THE GREAT DEAL IT ROLLS BACK ON HILLS, OR A COMBINATION OF BOTH, BUT THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE AND WAS NOT BROUGHT TO OUR ATTENTION WHEN PURCHASING THE VEHICLE OR IN ANY OF THE SAFETY INFORMATION WE READ TO DATE ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THE HILLY ENVIRONMENT IN THE BAY AREA. IF THE VEHICLE HAD A MANUAL 4WD SELECTOR LIKE MY OLD FORD RANGER DID, SWITCHING THIS ON WOULD RESOLVE THIS ISSUE ON HILLS, AND ALLOWING IT TO BE SHUT OFF DURING NORMAL DRIVES WOULD STILL RESERVE THE FUEL ECONOMY THAT FORD WAS GOING FOR WITH THIS MODEL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY WITH THE SIGNIFICANT IMPACT. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED THREE FRACTURED RIBS, INJURIES TO THE SHOULDER, A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY AND WAS CURRENTLY ON LIFE SUPPORT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A SALVAGE FACILITY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000. I BOUGHT A USED 2010 FORD EDGE LAST YEAR AUGUST FROM CONNICELLI DEALER IN CONSHOHOKEN PA. THE SAME DAY I BOUGHT THE CAR, ON MY WAY HOME I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE HAS A PROBLEM. TOOK IT BACK AND WAS FIXED. RIGHT AFTER THIS., I WAS PARKING IN A SMALL PARKING LOT , THE CAR ACCELERATED ON HIS OWN AND WENT ON THE GRASS. THE SECOND TIME I WAS PARKING IN FRONT OF MY GARAGE, THE CAR ACCELERATED AGAIN AND I ALMOST DRAG MY SECOND CAR TO THE BASEMENT. I SMELLED GASOLINE AND THE ENGINE HESITATED SO, I TOOK IT INTO AUTONATION IN DELRAY, FL. FOR REPAIR. I PURCHASED A USED VEHICLE FROM BROADWAY KIA. UPON INSPECTION I FOUND THAT THERE WERE A FEW, WHAT APPEARED TO BE COSMETIC DAMAGES TO THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE RIM. I ASKED THE SALES PERSON, [XXX] ABOUT THE DAMAGED RIM BECAUSE IT APPEARED TO BE BENT. HE ASSURED ME THAT THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND THAT THE TIRE/WHEEL WAS NOT COMPROMISED. APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS LATER THE TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE CAME ON IN THE CAR. I FILLED ALL THE TIRES BECAUSE AT THAT POINT I WAS NOT CERTAIN ANY ONE TIRE WAS LOW. APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS AFTER THAT I HAD TO PUT MORE AIR IN THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. AT THAT POINT I WENT TO A FIRESTONE TIRES TO HAVE THEM REPAIR WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A LEAK. THEY ADVISED THAT THE TIRE COULD NOT BE DISMOUNTED AND REPAIRED BECAUSE THE RIM ITSELF WAS BENT AND CRACKING AND THAT I WOULD NEED AN ENTIRE NEW WHEEL (TIRE AND RIM). AT THAT POINT I EMAILED ONE OF THE MANAGERS AT BROADWAY KIA TO LET THEM KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. I WENT IN ON 8/18/13 AND PURCHASED A NEW SET OF TIRES AND RIMS AS I NEEDED TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE. I CONTACTED THE GENERAL MANAGER REGARDING THE ISSUE AND WAS ASKED TO BRING THE CAR IN BUT ONCE HE FOUND OUT THAT I HAD ALREADY PURCHASED NEW RIMS/TIRES HE TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO. I WAS ADVISED BY THE TIRE REPAIR PERSON THAT HAD I HIT SOMETHING JUST RIGHT OR HAD TOO MUCH PRESSURE APPLIED ON THE TIRE IT COULD HAVE BLOWN. THIS CAR WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE OFF THE LOT OR ALLOW SOMEONE TO DRIVE FOR AN ENTIRE MONTH. THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO BE HELD TO HIGHER SAFETY STANDARDS. HAZARDS DON'T WORK, BRAKE AND TURN SIGNALS DON'T WORK, BUT THE VEHICLE WILL START AT LEAST UNTIL THE BATTERY IS DEAD FROM THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL RUN IT OUT. MY BELIEF IS THAT AFTER 3 OCCURRENCES OF THIS THE COMMON DENOMINATOR IS A STRONG ELECTRICAL STORM OCCURRING PRIOR TO THE COMPUTER FAILING. CAR RESTARTED AND EXITED TO ALTERNATE ROUTE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. STALLED REPEATEDLY AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AFTER THAT. CURRENTLY WAITING ON TROTTLE BODY TO BE SHIPPED TO MECHANIC FOR REPAIR. AM AWARE THAT FEDERAL SAFETY INVESTIGATORS ARE LOOKING AT SAME PROBLEM WITH FUSION, MILAN, ESCAPE AND MARINER. PLEASE CONSIDER DOING THE SAME FOR FORD EDGE. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY 2 1/2 YEARS OLD. POWER FAILURE WHILE MERGING ONTO HIGHWAY 5 IN SAN DIEGO CA. ENGINE RPM REDUCED TO IDLE. AFTER COASTING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, ENGINE WAS IDLING. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND AFTER ABOUT 1 MINUTE IT WAS RESTARTED. I NEXT SHIFTED IT BACK INTO DRIVE AND IT WAS WORKING AGAIN. SAME FAILURE OCCURED ON 7/29/2013 WITH THE SAME RESULTS.
