THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY. IT APPEARED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD NO FUEL. THE YELLOW WRENCH CAME ON, AND THE VEHICLE DIED, AS IT CAME TO A STOP. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, STARTED AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. IT HAS DONE IT A FEW OTHER TIMES, TODAY. I CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY CODES AND ON THE FIRST FEW TIMES, THERE WERE NOT (AUTOZONE), BUT THE LAST TIME IT THREW P2111. *TR
DRIVING ON MAJOR HIGHWAY, 55 MPH, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR JERKS, SLOWS DOWN AND I CANNOT CONTROL THE ACCELERATION. I HAVE TO QUICKLY PULL OVER ONTO GRASSY AREA OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC. THE AWD SIGNAL CAME ON AND A WRENCH SIGNAL. I QUICKLY TURNED CAR OFF AND RESTARTED AND IT WAS FINE. THIS HAPPENED OVER A MONTH AGO AND DID NOT HAPPEN AGAIN UNTIL YESTERDAY AND THEN AGAIN THIS MORNING. ALL 3 TIMES MY 2 YEAR OLD HAS BEEN WITH ME AND I HAVE BEEN ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. THIS COULD HAVE HAD DIRE CONSEQUENCES. THE CAR SLOWS DOWN SO QUICKLY THAT IF ANYONE WAS CLOSELY BEHIND ME THEY CERTAINLY WOULD HAVE REAR-ENDED ME. LOOKING ONLINE THIS SEEMS TO BE QUITE THE ISSUE, YET THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL?? THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! *TR
I HAVE A 2011 FORD EDGE AND AT 70,000 MILES, MY DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN THOUGH MY DOOR IS CLOSED. I CAN'T LOCK MY DOORS WHILE I'M DRIVING WHICH WORRIES ME SINCE I HAVE A 5 MONTH OLD BABY. MY BATTERY DIES BECAUSE MY INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON DUE TO THE DOOR BEING "AJAR". I'VE ALSO HEARD THAT MY AIRBAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT IF MY INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE ON. THAT'S A SCARY THOUGHT! I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT THE SENSOR TO THE LATCH IS JUST DIRTY AND THAT IT NEEDS TO BE CLEANED OFF WHICH WOULD COST ME $450! THEN THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD JUST REPLACE IT. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! FORD NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM! I'VE ALWAYS LOVED FORD, BUT AFTER OWNING THIS VEHICLE AND HAVING THIS SILLY ISSUE, I DON'T THINK I'LL BE BUYING ANOTHER FORD AGAIN!!! *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON .WITH THE LIGHT ON, THE DOOR IS NOT LOCKED WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING. THIS THEN BECOMING A SAFETY CONCERN. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH I AM FINDING OUT THIS AS BEEN AN ON GOING PROBLEM FOR QUITE SOME TIME, AND FORD HAS DONE DOING NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM.

THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT REMAINS ON ALL THE TIME, ELLUDING TO THE DRIVER'S DOOR BEING OPEN, WHEN IT IS NOT. WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO LOCK MY DOORS WHEN DRIVING, MAKING IT UNSAFE AND WEARING DOWN MY BATTERY. *TR
I AM A 55 YEAR OLD WOMAN AND JULY 27, 2014 HEADED FOR ST. LOUIS TO THE AIRPORT. ABOUT 35 MINUTES INTO MY TRIP, ON A VERY RURAL MISSOURI HIGHWAY, MY CAR HAD NO POWER ACCELERATING AND THE "WRENCH LIGHT" CAME ON. LUCKILY, A CHURCH PARKING LOT WAS NEAR, SO I COASTED THERE AND SHUT OFF THE CAR. I STARTED IT, IT WAS RUNNING OK AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF. I MADE THE REST OF MY TRIP. WHEN I GOT BACK HOME, I LEFT THE NEXT DAY ON AUGUST 6TH TO HEAD TO AURORA, MO TO HELP MY DAUGHTER. ABOUT 1 1/2 HOURS INTO MY TRIP, THE CAR DID EXACTLY THE SAME THING. NO POWER, WRENCH LIGHT ON. I WAS SO NERVOUS SINCE I WAS ON INTERSTATE 44 WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC. I GOT OFF THE INTERSTATE AND RESTARTED THE CAR AND MADE IT TO AURORA. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE FORD DEALER THERE. THEY CHECKED IT AND STATED NO CODES CAME UP SO THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. I CALLED HUTCHESON FORD IN ST. JAMES (WHERE I PURCHASED EDGE) AND THEY WANTED ME TO BRING IT IN. JULY 28TH, I TOOK IT TO ST. JAMES WITH THE SAME RESULTS. NO CODES, NO HELP. I CAME HOME AND HAD A LOCAL MECHANIC DRIVE IT. HE DID AND SAID THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG & TO CHECK THE INTERNET FOR COMMON PROBLEMS. I COULDN'T BELIEVE THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON THEIR 2011 EDGE AND STATED IT WAS THROTTLE BODY. I DRIVE A LOT BY MYSELF ON ROADS WITH NO SHOULDER SO I HAD TO HAVE IT TAKEN CARE OF. TODAY I JUST PICKED UP THE EDGE WITH A NEW THROTTLE BODY OF $710. *TR
DOOR AJAR SENSOR DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR. THE SENSOR SAYS THE DOOR IS AJAR, BUT IT IS NOT, AND WILL NOT GO OFF EVEN AFTER OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON, WHICH IS A HAZARD WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FAILED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY 3 KIDS AND MY WIFE AND AS I GOT OFF THE EXIT I NOTICED THE CAR WASN'T BRAKING, SO AS I GOT TO THE FIRST STOP LEFT I DECIDED TO TURN LEFT AND SEE IF I COULD FIX THE PROBLEM. AS I WAS TURNING THE SHEARING WHEEL LOCKED UP, BRAKES DIDN'T BRAKE THEN THE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE. I ALMOST HIT ON COMING TRAFFIC AT 40 MIL PER HOUR. AS SOON AS THE CAR BYPASSED ON COMING TRAFFIC A HAD TO RESTART MY CAR AND IT WAS FINE. AS SOON AS I GOT HOME, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS ABOUT 2FT FROM HITTING MY GARAGE DOOR. *TR
IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE STOPPED. REQUIRED TOW TO DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
DOOR AJAR LIGHT FOR DRIVERS SIDE STAYS ON CONTINUOUSLY EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED PROPERLY. INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON UNTIL A CERTAIN SPEED IS REACHED. WHEN VEHICLE IS NOT IN USE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TURN ON AND OFF AS IF THE DOOR WERE BEING OPENED AND CLOSED. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY ONCE AND HAVE YET TO REPLACE THE DOOR SWITCH. *TR
COMING OFF OF LAKESHORE DRIVE WITH MY 4 MONTH OLD SON IN THE BACK CAR SEAT AND THE TRUCK JUST GOES LIMP WITH NO POWER. IT DROVE REALLY SLOW AND SO I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE TURNED OFF THE TRUCK RESTARTED AND SEEMED FINE. THERE WERE CARS COMING UP BEHIND ME THANK GOODNESS NO ACCIDENT. MADE IT TO MY SONS DOCTOR APPOINTMENT AND QUICKLY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE GUY SAID HE HAS HEARD NOTHING WITH THE FORD EDGE AND DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THE WRENCH MEANT. HE SAID I NEED TO BRING IT IN AND I WILL BE CHARGED $125 JUST TO LOOK AT IT. I ASKED IF IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE BACK WITH MY SON AND HE JUST SAID I DON'T KNOW. SO I ASKED WHY WOULD THE HANDBOOK SAY TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY? APPARENTLY THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THIS AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED. I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND DO NOT WANT SOMETHING SERIOUS TO HAPPEN FOR SOMETHING THAT IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT! *TR
NYS THRUWAY AT EXIT 18, CLEARED TOLL BOOTH AND WRENCH SYMBOL ILLUMINATED ON DASH WITH ASSOCIATED DIALOGUE BOX CHECK OWNERS MANUAL. POWER LOSS WAS IMMEDIATELY EVIDENT WITH NO RESPONSE FROM INPUT TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. SHUT OFF ENGINE AND RESTARTED WITH POSITIVE RESULTS. TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES AND SAME INDICATION APPEARED ACCOMPANIED BY LOSS OF POWER AND NO RESPONSE FROM ACCELERATOR PEDAL. SHUT OFF AND RE-STARTED ENGINE WITH NO PROBLEMS. THIS HAS OCCURRED FOUR TIMES SO FAR IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS. I AM AN AIRCRAFT MECHANIC AND IT SEEMS THAT IT'S A SCHEDULING PROBLEM. AFTER THE PREVIOUS INCIDENT IT SEEMS TO RE-APPEAR EVERY 100 MILES, WITH A HALF TANK OF FUEL INDICATED. I RECENTLY ADDED FUEL INJECTION CLEANER TO A FULL TANK OF GAS, SPECIFICALLY FOR A 12 GALLON TANK. THE OIL LIFE IS AT 50% AND A SYSTEMS CHECK INDICATES NO PROBLEMS. ALL INCIDENCES OF THIS HAPPENING WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS RUNNING AND ENGINE TEMP WAS MID- SCALE. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK DURING RUSH HOUR AND TWICE ON THE SAME TRIP THE ENGINE SHUTTERED THEN COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. THE FIRST TIME, LUCKILY, SHE WAS ABLE TO COAST ACROSS FOUR LANES OF TRAFFIC TO THE SHOULDER BECAUSE THIS HAPPENED WHERE TWO INTERSTATES MERGE AND THE IS NOT A SHOULDER ON THE LEFT. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. THE DEALER STATED IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND HAS BEEN RECALLED ON OTHER MODELS BUT NOT THE EDGE. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND I GOT THE IMPRESSION THEY DID NOT CARE ABOUT THE ISSUE OR THE SAFETY OF THE PEOPLE DRIVING THEIR VEHICLES. BECAUSE OF THIS WE TRADED OUR VEHICLE AT A LOSS WITHIN A WEEK OF SPENDING $700 TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. *TR
DRIVER DOOR AJAR DOOR IS CLOSED BUT WARNING LIGHT COMES ON WHENEVER YOU ENTER THE CAR. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE, AND BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN. I STILL HAD POWER STEERING AND BRAKES, AND ALL OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES WERE WORKING. ALSO A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WITH A WRENCH ICON. I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, AND THEN TRIED IT AGAIN AND IT EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE ALRIGHT. I GOT TO THE NEXT EXIT AND CALLED AAA AND I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. IT WAS REPLACED AND THE CAR IS WORKING WELL AGAIN. *TR
BRAKE PEDAL FEELS HARD TO PRESS AND DOES NOT STOP MY VEHICLE. SOME OTHER TIMES THE PEDAL FEELS SPONGY AND WITHOUT BRAKING POWER. AT THE SAME TIME AS PRESSING THE PEDAL I COULD HEAR A HISSING NOISE , BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO THE SERVICE CENTER I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS A NATIONAL BACKORDER ON THE BRAKE BOOSTER PART, THEY CAN NOT GIVE A DATE THAT THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE. *TR
THE PASSENGER DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE DOOR IS PROPERLY SHUT. THIS CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON UNTIL YOU BEGIN DRIVING THE CAR. IN ONE INSTANCE THE LIGHT WOULD NOT GO OFF AFTER PARKING THE CAR, SHUTTING ALL DOORS AND LOCKING THE CAR. THE LIGHT STAYED ON OVERNIGHT AND DRAINED THE BATTERY. WE HAVE SINCE PULLED THE FUSE TO ELIMINATE THE LIGHT PROBLEM. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND IT APPEARS TO BE HAPPENING TO MANY PEOPLE. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED BY FORD. *TR
DOOR AJAR SENSOR IS ACTIVATED EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS NOT AJAR. I HAVE TO SLAM THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES TO GET IT TO WORK. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND VERY ANNOYING. THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK IF IT IS AJAR. *TR

DRIVER'S & LEFT BACK DOOR AJAR SIGNAL STAYS ON WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. SOME NOISE APPEARS WHEN HANDIN OUT THE STEERING. *TR
2011 EDGE, 3.5 YEARS OLD, WITH 41,000 MILES. CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER TO MOVE FORWARD, BUT CAR WAS STILL RUNNING, WRENCH APPEARED ON SCREEN, WAS ABLE TO COAST AND PULL OVER. TURNED ENGINE OFF, RESTARTED VEHICLE SUCCESSFULLY. PROBLEM REPEATED ITSELF THE NEXT DAY, TWICE, WAS ABLE TO (FORTUNATELY) COAST TO A SAFE AREA AND TURN THE CAR OFF. CAR WAS RESTARTED, ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED AFTER THE THIRD INCIDENT. CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP. CODE P2111. THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED ($636), UPDATED SOFTWARE - POWERTRAIN?? ($95), AND PERFORMED A "HIGHLY RECOMMENDED" FUEL CLEANING ($108). TOTAL COST, WITH MISCELLANEOUS CHARGES FOR ENVIRONMENTAL WASTE AND TAX, WAS $884. I HAVE OWNED NUMEROUS VEHICLES, MOST FROM FORD, MOST OLDER THAN 3.5 YEARS OLD AND HAVING MORE THAN 41,000 MILES, NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS BEFORE - VERY DISAPPOINTING! HIGH LEVEL OF CONCERN DURING INCIDENTS THAT THE CAR WOULD CREATE A TRAFFIC PROBLEM. FORTUNATELY IT DID NOT AND WAS ABLE TO AVOID HIGH TRAFFIC AND HIGH SPEEDS, AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP. *TR
IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING NORMALLY THE ENGINE SLOWS RPM ALMOST TO A STALL THEN WOULD NOT DO ANY THING WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED. AFTER PULLING OVER I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT DROVE FINE FOR ABOUT 20 MILES. THEN WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO A REDLIGHT IT DID THE SAME THING. SO I TURNED IT OFF AND ON AND IT WAS FINE AGAIN. I DROVE IT HOME AND NOW ITS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE IT SEEMS THAT IT IS PROBABLY THE THROTTLE BODY. IM GOING TO REPLACE THAT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. *TR
I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT MY 2011 FORD EDGE LIMITED AWD, I'VE HAD IT LESS THEN TWO MONTHS . THEN ONE MORNING AS I WAS COMMUTING TO WORK I LOST POWER TO MY EDGE. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR APPROX. 68 DEGREES, A BEAUTIFUL FRIDAY MORNING I WAS DRIVING I FELT A JOLT LIKE A KICK IN THE TRANSMISSION THAT WAS FOLLOWED BY A FLASH OF THE TOOL SYMBOL & ?AWD OFF? ON MY FRONT INSTRUMENT PANEL. I LOST ACCELERATION POWER. I HAD NOWHERE TO PULL OFF ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HAD JUST CAME OUT OF A SHARP CURVE. ALL I COULD DO WAS PUT THE EDGE IN PARK. TURN OFF, THEN TURN BACK ON, IT STARTED RIGHT UP LUCKILY. THE NEXT DAY MY HUSBAND TOOK THE EDGE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE DEPT. HOOKED UP THE EDGE AND FOUND NO PROBLEMS/ERRORS/CODES. ALTHOUGH THEY SAID IT IS PROBABLY THE THROTTLE BODY, SINCE THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL FORD EDGES COME IN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE GOOGLED ?LOSING POWER WHILE DRIVING MY 2011 FORD EDGE? AND DIDN?T RELIES THAT THIS IS THE #1 PROBLEM WITH FORD EDGES, YOU WOULD THINK THAT FORD WOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. AFTER READING ALL THE COMMENTS I SAW INFORMATION ON THE ?THROTTLE BODY? BEING REPLACED. SEVERAL PEOPLE POSTED THEIR EDGE HAD A CODE P2111 OR P2112 (PERTAINING TO THE THROTTLE BODY). I CALLED FORD AND THEY TOLD ME THIS WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. HELP! I HAVE A SMALL FAMILY NOW I'M SCARED TO DRIVE! *TR
AT THE ABOVE MILEAGE THE DRIVER DOOR SENSOR STARTED TO ACT UP, IT WOULD NOT LET ME OPEN THE DOOR BY TOUCHING THE HANDLE SO HAD TO USE THE KEY FOB TO OPEN IT. THEN WHEN I CLOSED THE DOOR IT SIDE THE DOOR WAS OPEN SO I OPENED IT AND SHUT IT AGAIN, STILL THE LIGHT DIDN'T GO OUT. THIS WAS A INTERMITTENT PROBLEM BUT HAS SINCE NEVER CLOSED WITH THE LIGHT GOING OUT. TOLD BY MY DEALER THAT THE SENSOR MIGHT NEED TO BE CLEANED AND IT WOULD COST ME $190.00. *TR
ON MY WAY TO WORK ON 787 IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC 7:30 IN THE MORNING , WAS ABOUT TO GET OFF OF 787 TO GET ON I90 ALL OF THE SUDDEN I LOST FULL POWER OF THE GAS, PULLED OVER AS SOON AS I COULD WITH ALL THE TRAFFIC . THE SYMBOL CAME UP ON THE SCREEN THE WRENCH LOOKING PICTURE. I SHUT MY CAR OFF. CALLED MY HUSBAND AND HOPING I WOULDN'T GET HIT WITH PEOPLE DOING 60 PLUS RIGHT PASSED ME. AFTER 10 MIN I STARTED MY CAR BACK UP AND HOPING I CAN ACCELERATE BACK ONTO 787. FINALLY GOT TO WORK. FORD REALLY NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUE WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS I HAVE SEEN!!!! *TR

VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING IT, HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS, FORD SERVICE CAN NOT DIAGNOSE. *TR
THE ALARM COMES ON FOR NO REASON. THE FRONT DRIVER PANEL SAYS THE REAR LEFT DOOR IS OPEN, EVEN AFTER CLOSING IT REPEATEDLY, THE PANEL STILL SAYS THE REAR LEFT DOOR IS OPEN. *TR
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT ON DRIVER SIDE DOOR REMAINS ON INTERMITTENTLY. OCCASIONALLY AFTER REPEATED SHUTTING OF THE DOOR IT WILL GO OFF. THE AIR BAGS ARE EFFECTED. I UNDERSTAND THEY WILL NOT DEPLOY IF THIS LIGHT REMAINS ON.
DRIVING GETTING READY TO MAKE A TURN, VEHICLE COMPLETELY STALLED OUT, DIDN'T TURN OFF BUT I LOST POWER. HAD NO ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. IMMEDIATELY PUT ON HAZARD LIGHTS, PUT INTO PARK AND TURNED CAR OFF. TURNED CAR BACK ON AND PRECEDED WITH FEAR AND CAUTION. I HAD A SIMILAR INCIDENT AT ABOUT14000 MILES WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE TO WORK IN THE MORNING, IF THIS HAPPENS DURING RUSH HOUR SOMEONE MAY BE INJURED OR WORST. I USUALLY HAVE MY GRAND DAUGHTER WITH ME. *JS
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON AN INTERSTATE, THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF ACCELERATOR POWER. I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PARK, SHUT THE ENGINE OFF, AND RESTART WITH SEEMINGLY NO REPEATABLE AFFECT. DEALER NOT ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM BUT SAYS THAT IT'S PROBABLY THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS LOSS OF POWER AND REQUIRED SHOULDER MANEUVER COULD HAVE CAUSED A SIGNIFICANT CRASH DUE TO SURROUNDING TRAFFIC. *JS
THE "DOOR IS AJAR" (LEFT REAR) WARNING LIGHT IS ON EVEN THOUGH THE LEFT REAR DOOR IS PROPERLY CLOSED AND LOCKED. *TR
THE DRIVER DOOR LATCH SENSOR (DRIVER DOOR AJAR) WILL NOT GO OUT AFTER CLOSING THE DOOR. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK BECAUSE OF IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE ANYONE COULD JUST WALK UP AND OPEN YOUR DOOR SINCE IT WILL NOT LOCK. I HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY 2008 EDGE THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS WHY IS NOTHING GETTING DONE ABOUT THIS TO MAKE THEM PUT A RECALL OUT FOR THE PROBLEM?
DRIVER DOOR ADJAR STAYS ON, LITES WILL NOT TURN OFF IN CAR AND DOOR LOCK WILL UNLOCK AND NOT WORK WHEN THIS IS ON. IT HAS STARTED DOING THIS AGAIN WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD LITE GOES ON DOORS UNLOCK. THIS HAS HAPPEN SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VECHILE HAD IT REPAIRED ONCE.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE I PURCHASED WITH 20K MILEAGE USED. LIGHTS STAY ON FOR 5 MINUTES, AND WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO LOCK DOORS IN BAD NEIGHBORHOODS. I HAVE REPLACED 2 BATTERYS ALREADY , AND NOW HAVE 45K ON ODOMETER.
2ND INCIDENT IN 3 WEEKS. FIRST INCIDENT, WAS TRAVELING AT 70 MPH ON A HIGHWAY AND SECOND WAS AT 50 MPH ON A REGIONAL ROUTE. WHILE IN DRIVE, WITHOUT WARNING, AWD OFF APPEARS FOLLOWED BY THE WRENCH ICON INDICATING SERVICE IS NEEDED IMMEDIATELY. THE CAR LOSES ITS ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. ENGINE, BRAKES, RADIO, AC ALL STILL WORK, THE ONLY ISSUE IS AN INABILITY TO ACCELERATE AT ALL SO THE CAR BASICALLY IS IN NEUTRAL AND STARTS LOSING SPEED IMMEDIATELY. HAD TO PUT ON EMERGENCY BLINKERS BOTH TIMES, COAST ACROSS BUSY HIGHWAY LANES TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND IT WAS AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY AS IT COULD BE POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING (THINK IF YOU WERE CROSSING AN INTERSECTION, NEEDED TO SPEED UP TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF SOMETHING OR WERE ON TRAIN TRACKS). AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT, I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER WHO RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I AM BRINGING IT TO A SEPARATE DEALER AFTER EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE A SECOND TIME. OTHER ISSUES THAT REFERENCE SIMILAR EXPERIENCE CITE A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY WITH ERROR CODE P21111. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY. *TR
DRIVING 45 MPH AND VEHICLE LOST POWER, THE WRENCH DASH WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, PULLED OVER SHUT IT OFF AND IT WAS ROUGH TO START BUT IT DID, AND RAN OK. A WEEK LATER DID IT AGAIN GOING ABOUT 25 MPH. AS OTHERS HAVE MENTIONED SCANNER SHOWS NO CODES. FORTUNATELY FOR US THE ISSUES HAVE HAPPENED ON LOW VOLUME ROADWAYS, NOT HIGH SPEED, HIGH TRAFFIC LIKE SOME UNLUCKY FOLKS. LOCAL DEALER CALLED FORD AND IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN, WE HAVE 35K MILES BUT 45 MONTHS. HOPEFULLY FORD WILL STAND UP AND DO A RECALL WITHOUT WAITING FOR THE DEATHS TO MULTIPLY LIKE GM! *TR
DRIVING ON THE ROAD AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATOR RESPONSE. HAD TO COAST OF THE ROAD IN A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE WRENCH LIGHT ON DASH LIT UP. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ON 3 TIMES AND THEN I COULD DRIVE LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED AND THE DASH LIGHTS WENT OFF. IT HAPPENED AGAIN A WEEK LATER ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH. I WAS ON TH ELEFT LANE AND THERE WAS NO SHOULDER SO I HAD TO COAST THRU THREEE LANES TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. AGAIN, TURNED CAR ON OF SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL REGAINED ACCELERATOR RESPONSE. WHEN I REACHED MY DESTINATION I LOCATED AN OBDII SCANNER ANDD THE P2111 CODE CAME UP. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE AS THE FORD ESCAPE THAT WAS ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. INVESTIGATING THRU THE INTERNET THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE ON THE FORD EDGE. WHY IS IT FORD NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THE ISSUE AND DO THE SAME AS FOR THE ESCAPE VEHICLES? *TR
THE "DOOR AJAR" WARNING LIGHT STARTED COMING ON, INTERMITTENTLY AT FIRST AND THEN CONTINUOUSLY. BAD SENSOR. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK USING THE LATCH AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON FOR A TIME. THE ONLY WAY TO LOCK THE DOORS ONCE INSIDE, IS TO USE THE KEY FOB. THIS CAN BE QUITE DANGEROUS IF NOT IN A GOOD AREA. THIS PROBLEM HAS DRAINED MY BATTERY ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED, HOWEVER, MOST FORD DEALERS WANT TO CHARGE CUSTOMERS $215 PLUS FOR DIAGNOSTIC FEES. ONLY THEN WILL THEY REPAIR THE PROBLEM. MY CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, SO I STILL WIND UP PAYING ABOUT WHAT IT COSTS TO REPAIR IT. (??) CAR PART STORES WILL RUN A DIAGNOSTIC FOR FREE... THIS SEEMS TO BE A CHRONIC ISSUE. WHEN I RESEARCHED IT, TONS OF INFORMATION ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM SURFACED. IT SEEMS FORD WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL WHEN IT IS SO OBVIOUSLY NEEDED.
WHILE DRIVING MY WIFE'S 2011 EDGE, WHEN APPLYING BRAKES HEARD A VACUUM LEAK IN THE FLOOR BOARD AREA AND THE BRAKES WERE NONE RESPONSIVE. INCREASED PRESSURE ON THE PEDDLE AND BRAKES LOCKED WITH A JOLT. THESE SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE EDGE. AUTOMATIC LOCKING AT 10 MPH OK HAPPENED FOR A WHILE, BUT WITHIN PAST FEW DAYS, AUTO LOCK DOES NOT HAPPEN. IN FACT, IF DOOR LOCKED MANUALLY AFTER STARTING, ALL DOORS AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK WITHIN SECONDS--WHETHER VEHICLE PARKED OR IN MOTION (WITH IGNITION ON). IN SHORT, LOCKING DOORS IS NOT POSSIBLE AND ALL DOORS ARE UNLOCKED WHILE DRIVING. LOCKING DOORS IS ONLY POSSIBLE WHEN VEHICLE IS PARKED AND MOTOR IS OFF. *TR
SECOND INCIDENT IN 3 WEEKS. WHILE DRIVING, AWD OFF LIGHT APPEARS WHILE THE CAR IS IN DRIVE. ANY ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE FAILS AND I HAD TO DRIFT THROUGH TRAFFIC TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON SEEMS TO TEMPORARILY SOLVE THE ISSUE. BROUGHT IT TO A FORD DEALER DURING FIRST INCIDENT AND THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC BUT NOTHING CAME UP. THIS ISSUE IS DANGEROUS AND POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING. *TR
WE WERE TRAVELING ON A HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WE LOST "POWER" BUT IT WAS ONLY THE ABILITY TO GO. THERE WAS ENOUGH TRAFFIC AND LACK OF SPEED TO PROHIBIT FROM MOVING ALL THE WAY OVER TO THE SHOULDER. WE MADE IT TO THE SLOWEST LANE (FURTHEST RIGHT HAND LANE). THE ONLY THING THAT SAVED US FROM BEING REAR ENDED WAS THERE WAS A SHERIFF NEAR BY AND SAW US BROKE DOWN STRANDED AND HE HELPED DIRECT TRAFFIC AROUND US FOR OUR SAFETY. WE WERE IN AN UNPOPULATED AREA AND HAD NO RESOURCES FOR SOME ONE TO COME GET US OR KNOW WHICH TOWING COMPANY COULD HELP US, ALONG WITH KNOWING A TRUSTED MECHANIC OUT WHERE WE WERE. MY CAR IS LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD, THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. WHEN WE FINALLY MADE IT HOME OUT OF SHEER LUCK, WE DID LOTS OF RESEARCH ON WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE AND FOUND MILLIONS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR FORDS. I LOVE THE COMPANY BUT I NEVER END BEEN SO STRESSED OUT AND SCARED FOR MY CHILDREN'S SAFETY. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE TO BE SAFE AND IT HAD FAILED ME. LIKE I SAID, I COULD BE MARKING THIS FORM DIFFERENTLY IF THE OFFICER DIDN'T PROTECT US. THE PART WAS NOT CHEAP ALONG WITH THE LABOR. WITH SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE BREAKING DOWN FOR THE SAME REASON, I AM SHOCKED AND APPALLED THAT THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS YET. I URGE YOU TO CHANGE THAT AND KEEP THE ROADS SAFE FOR ALL DRIVERS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,200.
IT APPEARED TO ME THAT THE ENGINE DISCONNECTED FROM THE DRIVE TRAIN. A BOX LIT UP ON THE DASH SAYING. "ALL WHEEL DRIVE OFF." THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO CREEP AT AN EXTREMELY SLOW SPEED. I STOPPED AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. I STARTED THE ENGINE AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE SEEMED FINE. I DID NOT HAVE ANOTHER INCIDENT FOR A FEW WEEKS. SUNDAY JULY 13 IT STOPPED PROBABLY A DOZEN TIMES ON A 10 MILE ROUND TRIP. SINCE THEN IT HAPPENS 2 OR 3 TIMES A DAY UNTIL TODAY. TODAY IT HAS STOPPED 10 TIMES BEFORE 10:00 AM. (JULY 17, 2014). *TR
