I WAS DRIVING AND MY THROTTLE WENT AWAY COMPLETELY WITH NO WARNING. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION WITH MY 1 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE CAR. I PUT MY FLASHERS ON AND DRIFTED BACKWARDS TRYING TO GET OFF THE ROAD AND HURRIED TO GET MY DAUGHTER OUT OF THE CAR IN CASE WE WERE HIT. AFTER A MECHANIC SCANNED IT HE SAID THE THROTTLE BODY WAS BAD. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THAT FORD KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM BUT HAVE ONLY COVERED IT THROUGH EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR CERTAIN MODELS AND NOT THE EDGE AND THE PART IS $500. I DO NOT HAVE THIS KIND OF MONEY AND ITS A FAULTY PART THROUGH NO FAULT OF MY OWN. I HAVE 2 KIDS AND THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE. I NEED FORD TO COVER THIS REPAIR. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR STAYS ON, EVEN AFTER NUMEROUS FIRM SLAMS OF THE DRIVER - THIS CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON AND ALSO ANNOYS WHILE DRIVING. DOOR IS SECURELY SHUT AND LOCKED AND INDICATOR CONTINUES TO STAY ON. *TR
DRIVING 43MPH, MY VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING. THE AWD OFF AND WRENCH ICON INDICATORS APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD. I HAD TO SWERVE ONTO THE MEDIAN TO AVOID BEING REAR-ENDED. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ON JUNE 16, 17, 24 & 25. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT VARYING SPEEDS, FASTER AND SLOWER THAN THE FIRST INCIDENT. IT ENDED UP BEING THE THROTTLE BODY, AND CONVENIENTLY JUST 4000 MILES PAST THE WARRANTY EXPIRATION. I WAS TOLD BY TWO SEPARATE MECHANICS THAT THIS IS SOMETHING THEY'VE SEEN MANY TIMES, AND IF IT WERE ONE OF TWO OTHER FORD MODELS, IT WOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PLAN BY FORD. IT IS THE SAME PART IN ALL VEHICLES, BUT ONLY COVERED IN CERTAIN MODELS? THIS FAULTY PART IS PUTTING PEOPLE'S LIVES AT RISK, OR AT MINIMUM PUTTING THEM IN UNNECESSARY DANGER OF AN ACCIDENT AND RESULTING FINANCIAL DAMAGES THAT FOLLOW. IF IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE PART, WHY IS THIS ALLOWED TO CONTINUE? AND WHY ARE ONLY CERTAIN MODELS COVERED? $600 LATER AND I DON'T TRUST THAT MY PROBLEM IS SOLVED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A 4-LANE EXPRESSWAY, MY 2011 FORD EDGE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STOPPED RESPONDING. THE CAR DID NOT LOSE ALL POWER, THE ACCELERATOR JUST WENT DEAD. THE CAR WAS IDLING VERY ROUGHLY, BUT WHEN I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL NOTHING HAPPENED. THERE WAS NO SHOULDER ON THE ROAD SO I HAD TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD! I AM SO LUCKY THAT NO ONE REAR-ENDED ME BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER OFF THE ROAD. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND WAITED A MINUTE OR TWO AND TURNED THE CAR BACK ON. THE ACCELERATOR WAS WORKING SO I HEADED HOME. THE CAR WENT "LIMP" TWO MORE TIMES BEFORE I ARRIVED HOME A COUPLE OF MILES DOWN THE ROAD. THE NEXT DAY MY HUSBAND FOLLOWED ME TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH HIS EMERGENCY FLASHERS ON. MY EDGE WENT "LIMP" TWICE ON THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE MECHANIC WAS FAMILIAR WITH THE PROBLEM AND DIAGNOSED A BAD THROTTLE BODY. IT WAS REPLACED FOR ABOUT $650.00 AND THE CAR RUNS FINE NOW. THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED! I THANK MY LUCKY STARS THAT THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN ON A BUSY INTERSTATE. *TR
I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE INCIDENTS OF MY CAR GOING FROM THE SPEED I AM TRAVELING TO WHERE I AM NO LONGER ABLE TO ACCELERATE WHICH CAUSES MY CAR TO LOOSE SPEED VERY FAST. A YELLOW WRENCH ICON COMES ON EVERYTIME I HAVE THIS ISSUE. MY CAR BEGINS TO SHAKE AND I AM FORCED TO HAVE TO SHUT MY CAR OFF AND WAIT A MOMENT BEFORE I CAN RESTART MY CAR. IT WENT FROM ONCE EVERY TWO WEEKS TO A WEEK TO MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY. MY HOUR DRIVE TURNS INTO MY CAR DIEING UP TO 14 TIMES JUST ONE WAY. THIS IS BEYOND UNSAFE CAUSE IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ITS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE IT SAFELY TO A SHOULDER TO SHUT OFF MY CAR. THERE WAS ONE DAY WHERE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE IT FOR A DAY. MY CAR IS 3 YEARS OLD WITH 80K MILES ON IT, THIS IS NOT NORMAL AND SHOULDNT BE HAPPENING. MY CAR HAS BEEN TESTED AND THE READINGS WERE ON THE THROTTLE BODY MODULE. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO A SHOP YET BECAUSE I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR A FAULTY PART THAT FORD HASNT ISSUED A RECALL ON AND REPAIRED WITHOUT MONEY COMING OUT OF MY POCKET. *TR
THIS FIRST HAPPENED THE DAY AFTER HAVING THE CAR SERVICED AT A FORD DEALERSHIP. MY WIFE SAID SHE GOT IN THE CAR, SHUT THE DOOR AS USUAL AND STARTED THE ENGINE. IMMEDIATELY, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT CAME ON SHOWING THE DRIVER'S DOOR BEING AJAR. SHE OPENED & CLOSED THE DOOR NUMEROUS TIMES, AND FINALLY THE WARNING LIGHT WENT OFF. A WEEK LATER, THIS IS STILL HAPPENING AT VARIOUS TIMES WITH NO RHYME OR REASON. ALSO, WHEN EXITING THE CAR AND ATTEMPTING TO LOCK THE DOOR BY USING THE SWIPING MOTION ON THE DOOR HANDLE, WHICH HAS WORKED LIKE A CHARM SINCE WE DROVE IT OFF THE DEALERSHIP LOT IN SEPTEMBER 2010, THE DOOR DOES NOT LOCK, NOR DOES PRESSING THE LAST TWO BUTTONS ON THE KEYLESS ENTRY PAD. ONCE AGAIN, OPEN THE DOOR - SHUT THE DOOR ONE OR MORE TIMES, AND IT WORKS. LOOKING AT SEVERAL OTHERS THAT HAVE TAKEN THE TIME TO LOOK-UP HOW TO POST A COMPLAINT ON THIS SITE, I WOULD THINK IT WOULD BE TIME FOR FORD TO STEP-UP TO THE PLATE AND OFFER A FREE FIX TO THOSE WITH THIS PROBLEM. WHILE THIS MAY NOT WARRANT A FULL RECALL, I THINK IT IS ENOUGH OF AN ISSUE FOR FORD TO ADDRESS BY REPLACING THE DEFECTIVE SENSOR AND NOT JUST A "CLEANING" THAT IS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX. *TR
MY DOOR AJAR LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON WHEN MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR IS CLEARLY SHUT. LOOKED UP MULTIPLE FORUMS AND FOUND OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL? I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY $400 FOR THIS FIX! *TR
WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A RED LIGHT, MY 2011 FORD EDGE BECAME UNRESPONSIVE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, AS IF GOING LIMP. CAR THEN RODE ROUGH AND SPUTTERED AS WE PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER TURNING OFF THE ENGINE I RESTARTED THE CAR AND ALL WAS FINE. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. *JS
AS MANY HAVE STATED, DROVE ABOUT 1/2 HOUR DOWNTOWN AND DROPPED OFF WIFE AND WAS ON MY WAY BACK HOME (DID NOT TURN CAR OFF EVEN AT THE DROPOFF). STILL DOWNTOWN DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH AND LOST ALL ACCELERATION. CAR JUST BEGAN TO DECELERATE. STILL HAD POWER TO THE STEERING AND BREAKS, RADIO, DASH, ETC.. JUST COULD NOT ACCELERATE. PULLED OFF TO SIDE AND ENGINE WAS A BIT ROUGH. TURNED OFF CAR AND RESTARTED. ALL WAS FINE. TOOK INTO FORD DEALERSHIP A FEW DAYS LATER. ORIGINALLY THEY SAID IT WAS A STEERING ANGLE SENSOR MODULE AT A PRETTY HEFTY PRICE. I SUGGESTED THAT I'LL WAIT UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN (IF IT DOES) WHERE WE CAN GET AN ALARM CODE FROM IT. THEY DID THE REST OF THE REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND THEN WHEN THE GUY TOOK IT OUT FOR TEST DRIVE IT HAPPENED TO HIM. ERROR CODE P21111 - FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. IT IS ON ORDER BUT NOT UNDER WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH I'M JUST UNDER THE 60,000 MILES AND NOT EVEN 4 YEARS OLD YET. *TR
DOOR AJAR WILL NOT TURN OFF FOR DRIVERS DOOR. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT, HOWEVER MORE CONSTANT WHEN IT IS HOT OUT SIDE. THIS CAUSES THE DOME LIGHT TO REMAIN ON. YOU CAN OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR SEVERAL TIME AND SOMETIMES THE WARNING WILL STOP. MAKES DRIVING DIFFICULT WHEN IT IS DARK OUT BECAUSE OF THE DOME LIGHT BEING ON. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY FORD EDGE LOST ACCELERATION. THE ENGINE REMAINED IDLING BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I HAD TO COAST OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTART. IT WOULD RUN FINE FOR A FEW MILES THEN REPEAT. I MANAGED TO GET IT TO A FORD DEALER WHO SAID IT WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT WAS NOT COVERED BY MY WARRANTY. $610 LATER AND MANY HOURS LOST FROM WORK, I AM A VERY UNHAPPY FORD OWNER. HAVING RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON LINE, I AM FINDING IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FORD ESCAPE AND NOW BECOMING MORE COMMON WITH THE EDGE. *TR
DOOR AJAR LIGHTS CONSTANTLY ON SAYING DOORS ARE OPEN. LIGHTS STAY ON BECAUSE IT THINKS DOORS ARE OPEN. CANNOT LOCK FROM KEYLESS ENTRY PAD. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT A YEAR AGO NOT SURE OF DATE THAT'S WHY I DIDN'T LIST. IT IS DRIVERS DOOR AGAIN AND REAR PASSENGER DOOR. TWO AT A TIME! REAR DOOR IS HARDLY USED. VERY DISGUSTING AND COSTLY REPAIRS AGAIN . *TR
I WAS DRIVING WHEN I LOST ACCELERATION. A WRENCH LIGHT CAME UP ON MY SCREEN. THANKFULLY MY BRAKES STILL WORKED AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP, ALMOST GETTING REAR ENDED BY A SEMI, BUT THEN THE WHOLE MOTOR STARTED SHAKING AND SPUTTERING. I PUT MY VEHICLE IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. WHEN I WENT TO TURN IT BACK ON IT HESITATED FOR A MINUTE, BUT THEN STARTED. THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN UNTIL A FEW WEEKS LATER WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 60MPH! I'VE HAD IT HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE THEN AND ALMOST BEING HIT A FEW OTHER TIMES. I'VE NOTICED THAT I DON'T HAVE AS MUCH POWER WHEN ACCELERATING EVEN WHEN THE WRENCH DOESN'T COME UP. TODAY IT HAPPENED TWICE WITHIN A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THIS TIME. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WON'T HAVE A RECALL WHEN SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE AN ISSUE! I'VE ALMOST BEEN HIT MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN THIS OCCURS AND I WOULD RATHER NOT HAVE ME OR MY CHILD HURT FROM A MALFUNCTION THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED! *TR
THIS IS MY 2ND COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS SAME DEFECT AS IT HAS OCCURRED 2 ADDITIONAL TIMES (3 TOTAL INCIDENTS). THE 1ST INCIDENT OCCURRED ON 4/11. THE 2ND INCIDENT OCCURRED ON 6/2 WHEN MY WIFE WAS TURNING RIGHT FROM AN INTERSECTION. AT APPROXIMATELY 20MPH SHE LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND HAD TO QUICKLY CHANGE LANES AND COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHILE AVOIDING TRAFFIC. SHE PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. ONCE SHE TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, THE CAR OPERATED NORMALLY. THE 3RD INCIDENT OCCURRED ON 6/3. MY WIFE ACCELERATED FROM A RED LIGHT INTO AN INTERSECTION AND LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. SHE WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION WITH CARS SWERVING AROUND HER. SHE AGAIN STOPPED HER CAR FROM COASTING, PUT IT IN PARK, AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. SHE RESTARTED THE CAR AND IT OPERATED NORMALLY. I DEEMED HER CAR TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND WOULD NOT ALLOW HER TO DRIVE UNTIL REPAIRED. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THE FORD ESCAPE, FUSION, MARINER, AND MILAN HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THE EDGES ARE HAVING. THOSE OWNERS RECEIVED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. REFERENCE CUSTOMER SERVICE PROGRAM (CSP) 13N03 AND NHTSA ACTION # PE13003. I TOOK HER CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY ERROR CODES NOR REPEAT THE PROBLEM. HE SAID HE COULD NOT REPAIR ANYTHING WITHOUT THIS INFORMATION. I MENTIONED CSP 13N03 AND HE SAID HE WAS AWARE OF IT BUT IT DIDN'T APPLY TO THE EDGE. SINCE THE PROBLEMS WERE EXACTLY THE SAME, I ASKED IF REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. HE HESITATED BUT AFTER SOME PRODDING HE SAID IT WOULD MOST LIKELY FIX THE PROBLEM BUT HE COULDN'T OFFICIALLY SAY SO. I HAD THEM REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY ON 6/6 ($698.06) AND MY WIFE HAS HAD ZERO PROBLEMS AS OF 8/13, FURTHER PROVING IT'S THE SAME DEFECT. I HOPE FORD STEPS UP AS THEY DID WITH THE OTHER FORD MODELS AND CORRECTS THIS DANGEROUS SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH REPORTS DOOR IS AJAR, WHICH PREVENTS CAR FROM LOCKING DOORS WHEN CAR IS MOVING. OTHER SIDE EFFECTS - CAN'T USE TOUCH-LOCK FEATURES, LIGHTS ARE STAYING ON AFTER CAR IS LOCKED ETC. *TR
ON 10 OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE STALLED AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE "AWD OFF" AND ENGINE ICON WOULD LIGHT UP. IN ALL INCIDENTS, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND AVOID A REAR END COLLISION. I HAD THE CAR SERVICED AT A FORD DEALER, THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. THEY INDICATED THAT MOST OF THEIR ISSUES REGARDING THE FORD EDGE HAS BEEN RELATED TO A DEFECTED THROTTLE BODY. *TR
CAR REPORTS DRIVERS DOOR IS AJAR. INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE DRIVING AND DOORS CAN NOT BE LOCKED WHILE DRIVING. KEYPAD CAN NOT BE USED TO LOCK CAR. AFTER LOCKING CAR WITH REMOTE, LIGHTS STAY ON FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME LEADING TO FLY BATTERY.

DOOR AJAR INDICATION ON DASH FOR BOTH THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT AND REAR DOORS BEGAN TO BE INTERMITTENT EVEN AFTER THE DOORS ARE SHUT TIGHT WITH MULTIPLE CLOSURES. CAR LIGHTS WOULD STAY ON AND CAR BATTERY WOULD BE DISCHARGE (WOULD NOT START AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURES. I HAD TO REMOVED THE INTERIOR LIGHTS FRONT OVER THE DASH, REAR CEILING LIGHTS AND TRUNK LIGHTS TO PREVENT THE BATTERY FROM DISCHARGING. BATTERY STILL BE DISCHARGED BUT LESS FAST. CAR NOW BEGINS BEEPING HORN WHEN THE BATTERY GETS LOW. CAR WILL NOT LOCK UNLESS THE KEY FOB IS A SIGNIFICANT DISTANCE FROM THE VEHICLE. CAR HAS KEYLESS ENTRY AND WILL NOT LOCK UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. ESTIMATED REPAIR WILL BE OVER $400.00 AND THIS IS NOT GUARANTEED TO FIX THE PROBLEM WILL NOT RE-OCCUR SINCE FORD HAS NOT FIXED THE DESIGN OF THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY. *TR
VEHICLE DISPLAYS DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR. NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO TO CLOSE THE DOOR, IT WONT TURN OFF. IT DOESN'T ALLOW THE DOORS TO BE LOCKED WHEN DRIVING AND THE ALARM TO GO OFF CONSTANTLY. THIS IN EFFECT CAUSES YOU TO GET A COSTUMED TO YOUR ALARM GOING OFF AND NOT REALLY KNOWING WHEN IT IS LEGITIMATE. ALSO IF ANOTHER DOOR IS AJAR YOU CAN GET SO USED TO SEEING THE "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" LIGHT THAT IT CAN BE CONFUSED FOR ANY OTHER DOOR. INCLUDING A REAR DOOR WITH CHILDREN PASSENGERS. I'VE READ HUNDREDS OF THE SAME COMPLAINT. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED AFTER THE AWD FAILURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,290.

IN MAY OF 2014 MY FORD EDGE HAS BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR BEING AJAR. WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT THE DOME LIGHTS STAY ON UNTIL YOU GO PUT IT IN DRIVE AND GO OVER 20MPH, THEN THEY SHUT OFF. THATS THE ONLY WAY TO TURN THE LIGHTS OFF. ITS A DOOR SENSOR ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP. THE DOOR IS COMPLETELY SHUT AND THE DASH ICON SAYS "DRIVER DOOR IS AJAR". IT KILLS THE BATTERY AND WE NEED TO JUMP IT EVERY TIME WE USE THE VEHICLE. I JUST BOUGHT A NEW $109.00 BATTERY AND NEXT WEEK I'LL TAKE IT TO FORD TO PAY THE 500+ DOLLARS FOR A NEW SENSOR. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS HAZARD WHEN OPERATING AFTER SUNSET. DRIVING WITH THE DOME LIGHT ON AT NIGHT IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR MY FAMILY. BUILT FORD TOUGH?
THIS IS NOW THE SEVENTH TIME I'VE LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN, STEERING BECOMES UNCONTROLLABLE AND THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON. I'VE TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I'M BEING TOLD THE CAR HAS NO CODES OF WHAT HAPPENED AND THEY CAN'T REPAIR. I'M NOT SURE HOW A COMPUTER DOESN'T REGISTER A LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT OR HOW IT'S NOT HARD CODED SOMEWHERE IN THE COMPUTER SYSTEM THAT THE CAR JUST CUT OUT AT 35MPH TO 60 MPH I HAVE NO WARNING THAT THIS IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN, I LOST MY STEERING, CAR SHUTS DOWN, BRAKES DO NOT WORK. FORD HAS NO IDEA ON HOW TO FIX THIS. I PULL OVER AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES CRANK UP AND GO, SOMETIMES IT DOES IT 5 TO 6 TIMES IN A ROW BEFORE I CAN GET TO THE DEALER. ALSO, MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR ALWAYS KEEPS THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT ON, FORD HAS NO CLUE HOW TO FIX THIS EITHER- THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAYS ON THE WHOLE TIME ALSO. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN SEVERAL TIMES FOR THIS ALSO AND THEY CAN'T FIX IT. I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED AND IT WAS GREAT FOR ONE YEAR AND NOW IT HAS MANY PROBLEMS WHICH I BELIEVE IT DID WHEN I BOUGHT IT. I NOW PUT 93 OCTANE IN IT JUST TO SEE IF THAT HELPS, I HAVE PUT ENGINE CLEANER IN IT, HAD ALL THE FILTERS CHANGED EVERY 3 MONTHS, NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 6 MONTHS, IN APRIL 2014 THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN THE CAR OVERHEATED ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND EMPTIED ALL THE ANTIFREEZE ON THE THIRD TIME. BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER, DEALER FOUND NO ERROR CODES AND LET THE VEHICLE RUN FOR 4 HRS WITH THE A/C ON AND FOUND NOTHING TO BE WRONG. A FEW WEEKS LATER I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE CAR JUST SHUT DOWN, LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE AND WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 35 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND LET THE CAR SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES. RESTARTED CAR AND CONTINUED HOME. ALSO, THE CAR HAS DIED WHILE 5 MORE TIMES SINCE THEN WHILE SITTING IN A DRIVE THROUGH FOR A FEW MINUTES. AND FINALLY YESTERDAY, THE CAR JUST STOPPED 4 TIMES WITHIN A 2 MILE PERIOD. VERY FRUSTRATED AND AFRAID THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN WHEN I AM TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND POSSIBLE GET REAR ENDED OR KILLED. *JS
VEHICLE FAILED ANNUAL SAFETY INSPECTION AT APPROXIMATELY 40K MILES. DEALER EXPLAINED THAT FRONT TIE ROD ENDS HAD FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE. UPON RETURNING FOR SERVICE ON THE SCHEDULED DATE AT APPROXIMATELY 45K MILES, DEALER DISCOVERED LEAK IN FRONT RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY AND EXPLAINED ENTIRE FRONT RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY NEEDS REPLACEMENT. AS OF THIS REPORT, THE VEHICLE IS STILL WITH THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THE PART TO BE REPLACED IS ON BACK-ORDER. AFTER QUICK INTERNET SEARCH, DISCOVERED INSTANCES OF SAME PROBLEM IN STEERING & SUSPENSION WITH OTHER 2011 FORD EDGE AND 2011 LINCOLN MDX AWD VEHICLES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE EQUIPPED WITH PIRELLI SCORPION STR TIRES, SIZE 245/50/R20. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT FROM THE SIDEWALLS. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE TIRE WITH A SPARE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE TIRE. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AND REAR TIRES HAD BULGES. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE AND TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.

THE DOOR LATCH SWITCH IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM ON MANY FORD VEHICLES AND FORD REFUSES TO RECALL THE PRODUCT. IT COULD LEAD TO A DANGEROUS SITUATION IF THE DOOR IS REALLY AJAR AND THE DOOR MAY OPEN, DRAIN THE BATTERY AND WHEN THE DOOR SWITCH IS MALFUNCTIONING, IT STATES THAT THE DOOR IS AJAR AND THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. *JS

THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION STARTED TO DIE AND THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION. I WOULD RESTART THE CAR AND YOU COULDN'T REALLY ACCELERATE AND EVENTUALLY IT WOULD DIE AGAIN. NO WARNING WHATSOEVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AFTER THREE DAYS THEY FINALLY FOUND THAT THE CAMSHAFT BROKE AND RUINED THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR IS ONLY THREE YEARS OLD AND HAS 60,517 MILES. I AM 517 MILES OVER THE WARRANTY AND I WOULD THINK IN GOOD FAITH, FORD WOULD HONOR THE WARRANTY, BUT I WAS TOLD IT'S IN BLACK AND WHITE. NO ONE CAN EXPLAIN TO ME HOW AND WHAT CAUSED THE CAMSHAFT TO BREAK. "IT'S A FREAK THING" IS NOT A GOOD ANSWER AND DOESN'T ANSWER MY QUESTION. THE TECHNICIAN IS BAFFLED. ON OR ABOUT JANUARY 21, 2014, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD REGARDING CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N02. AFTER READING THE LETTER, I REALIZED THAT I WAS EXPERIENCING 2 OF THE 3 SYMPTOMS NOTED IN THE LETTER(SPONGY FEEL WHEN APPLYING BRAKES AND INCREASED AMOUNT OF PEDAL EFFORT REQUIRED TO STOP CAR). I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAID TO BRING IT. ON MONDAY, JANUARY 27, 2014, I TOOK THE CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TESTED THE BRAKES AND THEY CLAIM THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THEREFORE REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I CALLED FORD HEADQUARTERS AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO THEM ALSO. BECAUSE IT WAS NOT A RECALL, BUT A SERVICE ADVISORY, THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE SYMPTOMS AT THAT TIME. I TOLD BOTH THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND FORD HEADQUARTERS THAT I'M STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM WHETHER OR NOT THEY COULD DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I ALSO ASKED BOTH OF THEM IF THEY WERE WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT BEFORE THEY DID ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM. WELL, AS A RESULT OF FORD'S UNWILLINGNESS TO FIX MY BRAKE PROBLEM, I GOT INTO A CAR ACCIDENT ON MONDAY, APRIL 14, 2014. TOOK THE CAR TO LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY CLAIM THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE PROBLEM, SO WILL NOT FIX WHAT THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER 2011 FORD EDGE ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH WITH ME AND ANOTHER PASSENGER WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR BEGAN TO DECELERATE VERY QUICKLY. MY WIFE SHOUTED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND WHEN SHE APPLIED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. WE WERE IN FULL TRAFFIC AS CARS SPED BESIDE US AND CAME UP QUICKLY BEHIND US SLAMMING ON THEIR BRAKES TO AVOID HITTING US. I TURNED ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND TOLD HER TO TRY TO COAST OVER TO THE SHOULDER BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WOULD STILL NOT RESPOND. SHE HAD TO CUT OFF SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES TO MAKE IT OVER TO THE SHOULDER BUT LUCKILY NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED. WHEN WE STOPPED, SHE AGAIN TRIED TO APPLY THE ACCELERATOR BUT STILL NO RESPONSE. SHE PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. SHE WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND STARTED THE CAR AND PUT IT BACK IN DRIVE. THE CAR FINALLY RESPONDED AND WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THIS WAS A VERY, VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS CAR IS WELL MAINTAINED AND ONLY HAD 51,000 MILES. WHEN THIS WAS HAPPENING, IT REMINDED ME OF THE TOYOTA INCIDENTS BUT INSTEAD OF ACCELERATING UNCONTROLLABLY ON THE HIGHWAY, WE DECELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY.
