Had car in for oil change,at 85320 mi was told I had swollen lug nuts. I had the replaced
About 3 months when I got the vehicle I had to take it to El Cajon Ford because the brakes suddenly stopped working properly and I had to nearly push the pedal to the floor to stop. It suddenly lost the pressure needed to properly stop. The vehicle was still under warranty at that time. That was about over 4 years ago. Now I find that the same problem has arose again. I took it took it to a auto repair shop to find the part I need is back ordered. There is a recall on all ford edge vehicles for this brake problem however after several calls and conversations with ford I find for some reasons my Ford edge is not included for reasons I can’t understand and the parts available are reserved for other recall vehicles when my car has the same issues. In addition, a less than a week after I received the vehicle my son along with his baby daughter were on the freeway when suddenly the a tire just blew out causing them to skid across the highway, luckily no one was hurt, but 2 weeks later another tire just blew out on me as soon as I entered the highway on my way home from work.I replaced all 4 tires however about once a month the tire pressure runs low although I had new tires.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE RIMS FRACTURED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE RIM. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE REAR PASSENGER RIM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
WHEN DEPRESSING BRAKES WHILE PULLING INTO PARKING SPACE, BRAKES BECAME EXTREMELY STIFF AND HAD TO STAND ON THEM TO STOP BARELY MISSING CAR PARKED IN SPACE TO MY FRONT, ALSO WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT A STOP LIGHT CAR WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET SLOWED DOWN TO A STOP. CALLED LOCAL SERVICE TECH AND DESCRIBED ISSUE AND WAS TOLD BRAKE BOOSTER WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AND UNFORTUNATELY IT IS ON BACKORDER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE EQUIPPED WITH PIRELLI SCORPION STR TIRES, SIZE 245/50/R20. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT FROM THE SIDEWALLS. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE TIRE WITH A SPARE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE TIRE. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AND REAR TIRES HAD BULGES. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE AND TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
MY PASSENGER SIDE WHEELS HIT A SNOW HIDDEN POT HOLE AND SCRATCHED BOTH WHEEL COVERS. WHEN I WENT TO MY FORD DEALER TO PURCHASE TWO NEW WHEEL COVERS I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE NOT "COVERS" (HUB CAPS) AT ALL, RATHER THEY WERE "CHROME FOIL COVERED PLASTIC" BONDED TO THE WHEEL RIM. ONE CAN NO LONGER SIMPLY REPLACE A $25 - $50 WHEEL-COVER (HUB CAP) TO KEEP A FORD VEHICLE LOOKING NEW. YOU HAVE TO PURCHASE THE ENTIRE WHEEL. THE REPLACEMENT COST IS $860 PLUS REMOUNTING COSTS; ABOUT $1000 FOR EACH WHEEL. I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP FEELING CHEATED! MY ORIGINAL SALES INVOICE LISTS THE WHEELS AS "CHROME CLAD" AND THIS IS OBVIOUSLY MISLEADING! THE SALES STAFF SAID TO WAIT FOR AN "AFTER MARKET" SOLUTION. FORD EXECUTIVES OFFERED NO HELP SAYING THEY DO NOT COVER DAMAGE DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS AND TO CONTACT MY INSURANCE COMPANY! MY ARGUMENT REMAINS.. IN ORDER FOR THE WHEELS TO BE DAMAGED SO EASILY, THEY ARE OBVIOUSLY COMPRISED OF SUB-STANDARD MATERIAL. THE ALUMINUM FOIL MY WIFE USES IN OUR KITCHEN IS STRONGER THAN FORD'S "CHROME CLAD" WHEELS. I PRIDE MYSELF IN MAINTAINING MY VEHICLES IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION. FORD HAS LOST ME AS A LIFETIME CUSTOMER BECAUSE OF THEIR APPARENT LACK OF CONCERN FOR THE POTENTIAL UPKEEP COSTS TO THE CONSUMER. WE PURCHASED A NEW 2011 FORD EDGE IN FEBRUARY OF 2011. WE HAD DRIVEN IT LESS THAN 41,000 MILES WHEN WE ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM WITH ONE TIRE. AS WE WERE DRIVING WE WERE ALERTED THAT THE AIR PRESSURE WAS LOW ON OUR TIRE. WE ADDED AIR AND HAD DRIVEN LESS THAN 10 MILES WHEN THE LOW AIR PRESSURE WARNING CAME ON AGAIN. WE DROVE TO WALMART TO GET THE TIRE REPAIRED. IT HAD A SPLIT ON THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE, NEAR THE LETTERING. THE SPLIT WAS NOT ALONG THE CURVE OF THE TIRE, IT IS AN "UP AND DOWN" TEAR. WE WERE TOLD THEY COULD NOT REPAIR THE TIRE BECAUSE OF WHERE THE SPLIT HAD OCCURRED. LIKE I SAID, IT WAS ON THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE, SO IT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN DAMAGED BY HITTING A CURB OR SOMETHING HITTING IT. THE TIRES HAVE VERY LITTLE WEAR ON THEM, BUT WE REPLACED ALL OF THEM ANYWAY. WE FEEL THIS TIRE WAS FAULTY AND WE WOULD REGRET NOT REPLACING THEM IF ONE WOULD BLOW OUT AND CAUSE A DEADLY ACCIDENT. WE KEPT THE TIRES IN CASE THERE IS A RECALL ON THEM. THIS WAS DEFINITELY NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR! IF I WERE A TIRE MANUFACTURER, I WOULD DEFINITELY BE CHECKING ON THIS MATTER RIGHT NOW. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE HUB CAP TO BEND, EXPOSING SHARP EDGES. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE DAMAGED HUB CAP COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE INJURIES OR LACERATIONS WHEN WASHING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE HUB CAP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
FAULTY VEHICLE TPMS SYTTEMS. THEY BECOME BRITTLE AND WHEN YOU TRY TO CHECK THE AIR IN THE TIRE THEY CAN BREAK. THE MATERIALS USED ARE VERY CHEAP AND ARE UNSAFE. IF YOU BREAK ONE OR CRACK ONE YOU LOOSE ALL THE AIR IN THE TIRE. AS A AUTOMOTIVE LUBRICATION CENTER OWNER IT FALLS UPON MY STORE TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT IS DEFINATELY A DESIGN PROBLEM FROM THE VEHICLE MANUAFACTURER. *TT
