Loss of rearview image from backup camera. Intermittent blank, distorted, or inverted image when in reverse. Sometimes says "loss of signal". This reduces the driver’s view of the area behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a backover crash. My 2012 Ford Edge is experiencing the same issues mentioned in 25V572 for the 2015-2018 Ford Edge.
2012 FORD EDGE LIMITED: DRIVING DOWN THE DIVIDED HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65 MPH, WITH NO VEHICLES IN FRONT/NEXT TO/ OR BEHIND ME, THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF EXPLODED AND SHATTERED. THIS WAS NOT DUE TO ANY IMPACT OR COLLISION OF ANY TYPE, TO INCLUDE DEBRIS, FLYING PEBBLES, ETC. THE SUNROOF EXPLODED OUTWARDS, WITH THE GLASS PUSHED UPWARDS. ADDITIONALLY, THE GLASS WAS SHATTERED IN ALL FOUR CORNERS. THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT, WITH DOCUMENTED RECALLS ACROSS MANY MAKES/MODELS. THIS EXACT SITUATION HAS HAPPENED TO HUNDREDS OF OTHER PEOPLE/VEHICLES WHETHER DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR PARKED. IN EVERY CASE, THE SCENARIO APPEARS TO BE THE SAME: THE TEMPERED GLASS EXPLODED DUE TO DESIGN FAILURES WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE UNDER NORMAL / ROUTINE CONDITIONS. RECALL REQUESTED.
WHILE DRIVING AT LESS THAN THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT, WE HEARD AN EXPLOSION FROM ON TOP OF THE VEHICLE. SAW GLASS PIECES SLIDING OFF ROOF. UPON VISUAL INSPECTION WE SAW THE VISTA SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED. THE GLASS EXPLODED ALONG THE PERIMETER OF THE RETRACTABLE SUNROOF. THE CENTER OF THE GLASS WAS STILL INTACT AND THERE WAS NO VISIBLE SIGN OF IMPACT. NOTHING HIT THE GLASS. GIVEN THE PERIMETER GLASS DAMAGE, IT APPEARS THE GLASS WAS COMPRESSED INWARD SOMEHOW. THIS IS A VEHICLE DEFECT. *TR
DRIVING HOME ON 78 FROM JULIAN AND HEARD A LOUD POP PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SAW THAT THE SUNROOF OVER THE BACK SEAT HAD EXPLODED. LUCKILY THE GRAND KIDS WEREN'T THE BACK SEAT THE GLASS STAY INTACT. TOOK THE CAR TO HELLER FORD WHERE WE BOTH IT AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED. THEY SAID THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING BEFORE, SOMETHING MUST HIT IT AND IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY FOR IT. WE ARE WAITING FOR THE GLASS TO COME SO POWAY GLASS CAN RE PLACE IT. THEN WE WILL SEE IF FORD IS GOING TO PAY FOR IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE ENTIRE BACK PANEL OF THE PANORAMIC VISTA SUNROOF EXPLODED FOR NO REASON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS ADVISED THAT THE ENTIRE REAR PANEL SUN ROOF NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE CONSUMERS EXPENSE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,000.

DURING THE NIGHT ON 9/25/2012, THE WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED FROM THE LOWER DRIVER'S SIDE CORNER EXTENDING DIAGONALLY TOWARD THE CENTER OF THE WINDOW. THE WINDOW WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. ON 7/2/12 SAME TYPE OF CRACK APPEARED ON DRIVER SIDE IN NEW WINDSHIELD. ON 7/21/12, A SIMILAR CRACK APPEARED ON PASSENGER SIDE EXTENDING FROM THE LOWER CORNER AND CONTINUING TOWARD THE CENTER OF THE WINDOW. THESE 3 SPONTANEOUS CRACKS FROM CORNERS OCCURRED IN ABOUT ONE AND A HALF YEARS, ALL HAPPENING OVER NIGHT AND FROM THE CORNERS. *TR
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE CAR WAS PARKED. NO EVIDENCE OF IMPACT WAS NOTED. CRACK STARTED IN LOWER DRIVER'S SIDE CORNER AND QUICKLY SPREAD ACROSS WINDSHIELD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT WAS ACTIVATED, THERE WAS A WHITE, POWDERY SUBSTANCE BEING EMITTED FROM THE VENTILATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AT LEAST FIVE TIMES BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE SUBSTANCE. IN ADDITION, THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE A DIAGNOSIS FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO INSPECTED AND CLEANED THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BY EMAIL BUT THE CONTACT HAD NOT YET RECEIVED A RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.
