VEHICLE STALLS OUT WHILE DRIVING AND THEN WON'T START BACK UP FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT.
MANUFACTURERS CASE 20542 FRONT BRAKE HOSES FRONT BRAKE FAILURE POSSIBLE, RECALL IN AUGUST, HAV NOT RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE BY MAIL
I WENT TO START MY CAR AND FOUND MY BATTERY WAS LOW. I GOT THE CAR JUMP STARTED AND WHEN I PUT IT IN GEAR THE POWER STEERING WAS NO LONGER WORKING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED TO REPLACE THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY. THIS IS ON A CAR THAT IS LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD AND HAS LESS THAN 26,000 MILES. I AM TOLD THE WARRANTY IS 3 YEARS OR 36,000 MILES WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. BASED ON MY RESEARCH IT LOOKS LIKE OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY. I DROVE THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY THE NIGHT BEFORE AND THERE WAS NO HINT OF ANY PROBLEMS.
MY 2016 FORD EDGE HAD A COOLANT LEAK INTO THE ENGINE WHICH IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT FORD SENT A BULLETIN OUT ON.THENFORD MOTOR COMPANY REFUSES TO TAKE ACTION FOR A RECALL ON AN OBVIOUSLY FAULTY. ENGINE. HOW CAN THEY BE ALOUD TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE'S A HUGE ISSUE WITH THE ENGINES THAT'S COMMON BUT DEY A RECALL. THIS ISSUE IS CAUSING TONS OF FORD EDGE OWNERS EXTREME FINANCIAL STRESS AND WORSE. THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. $9,500 ON REPAIRS. AND NOW THE NEW ENGINES DOING THE SAME THING.
A flexible brake line blew out and I lost my brakes.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ON MY 2016 FORD EDGE AROUND 60000 MILES. CODE READER INDICATED MISFIRE ON CYL 3. AFTER CHANGING THE SPARK PLUGS AS A POTENTIAL FIX, THE ISSUE CAME BACK. ROUGH IDLES WHEN STARTING BUT USUALLY WOULD GO AWAY AFTER A FEW SECONDS. LAST TIME I WENT TO START IT, WHITE, SWEET SMELLING SMOKE BEGAN POURING OUT OF THE EXHAUST. SHUT OFF THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY. SEVERAL OTHER DOCUMENTED CASES OF COOLANT LEAKING INTO CYLENDER LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THIS IS A HEAD GASKET OR ANOTHER ENGINE DESTROYING ISSUE. HAVING THE CAR TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC NOW.
FORD ISSUES A SAFETY RECALL FOR FRONT BRAKE LINES IN AUGUST OF 2020 AND SAID THERE IS NO REMEDY OF THE ISSUE. HOW IS THERE NO REMEDY? IF THE BRAKE LINE IS LEAKING THE. YOU REPLACE A BRAKE LINE. I ACTUALLY HAD AN ISSUE WITH THIS PRIOR TO THE RECALL COMING OUT, DEPLETED BRAKE FLUID AND COULDN'T HARDLY STOP AND INTERSECTIONS OR LIGHTS.
VEHICLE HAS STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING OR STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT WITHOUT WARNING. "ACCESSORY POWER" REMAINS ON SO LIGHTS, POWER STEERING ETC. THE FIRST TWO TIMES IT HAPPENED I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND HAD TO PLACE THE CAR IN PARK TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WHICH TOOK MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS UNTIL THE VEHICLE WOULD REMAIN RUNNING. TODAY THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE COMING OFF OF A HIGHWAY, I HAD TO PULL OVER MULTIPLE TIMES TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WHEN EVER I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AS THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. I BARELY MADE IT TO WORK. I AM WONDERING WHY THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE FOR THIS ISSUE AS FORD DID RECALL THE 2017 EDGE FOR SIMILAR PROBLEMS.
I NOTICED THE REAR SUNROOF WINDOW HAS A VERY STRANGE AND CIRCULAR CRACK THAT FOLLOWS HOW THE ANTENNA IS PLACED ON TOP OF VEHICLE. THERE IS NO IMPACT OR DAMAGE AROUND THE WINDOW OR THE FRAMING SURROUNDING THE WINDOW. I DISCOVERED THE DAMAGE WHILE WASHING THE TOP OF THE VEHICLE. WE DO NOT SIT IN THE BACK OF THE CAR (ONLY THE 2 OF US) AND VERY RARELY OPEN THE SHADE TO ALLOW THE LIGHT INTO THE VEHICLE. IT WAS NOT THERE A COUPLE MONTHS AGO, THE LAST TIME I GOT UP HIGH ENOUGH TO WASH THE TOP. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION, THE SERVICE GUY FOUND NO IMPACT DAMAGE BUT VERY SLIGHTLY FELT THE GLASS "CATCH" EVER SO SLIGHTLY WHILE RUNNING A PEN OVER THE GLASS. THE "CATCH" IS A PIECE OF GLASS CRACKED ON 2 SIDES AND BEING PUSHED UP BY THE PRESSURE OF THE CRACKED, MOVING GLASS. ACCORDING TO THE INSPECTOR, THIS "CATCH" IS A PROBLEM AND HE DOES NOT THINK FORD WILL TAKE THE BLAME FOR THEIR DESIGN FLAW. THIS WINDOW IS CLEARLY A DESIGN FLAW, THERE IS NO OTHER EXPLANATION WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE WAY THE CRACK FOLLOWS THE CONTOUR OF THE ANTENNA. I HAVE PICTURES ON MY PHONE BUT I DO NOT DOWNLOAD OR HAVE THE ABILITY TO SEND THEM AT THIS TIME.
AS I WAS DRIVING MY 2016 FORD EDGE, I WENT TO STOP AND AS I PRESSED THE BRAKE, IT SLOWED AT THE POINT TO WHERE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COMING TO A FULL STOP, THEN THE PEDAL RELEASED AND WAS PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BEFORE IT CAME TO A FULL STOP. THE NEXT FEW STOPS...THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I CALLED MY FORD DEALERSHIP AND ASKED IF IT COULD BE LOW ON BRAKE FLUID, EVEN THOUGH NO INDICATOR DISPLAYED ON MY DASH. THEY SAID IT COULD BE A NUMBER OF THINGS. BUT AS I CONTINUED TO DRIVE AND STOP, IT GOT WORSE. THANKFULLY, INSTEAD OF JUMPING ON THE HIGHWAY, I TOOK ALL BACK ROADS TO THAT DEALERSHIP. AS SOON AS THE TECH GOT IN THE DRIVERS SEAT AND PUSHED THE PEDAL, TO TAKE FOR A TEST DRIVE, HE TOLD ME 'THIS THING IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE'. HE GOT UNDERNEATH, HAD ME PUSH THE PEDAL, AND FLUID 'SPRAYED LIKE A WATER FOUNTAIN.' HE SAID HE CAN SEE THAT THE BRAKE LINE HAD SPILT. THIS WAS THE DRIVERS SIDE (LEFT FRONT) BRAKE LINE.
THE ENGINE IS LEAKING COOLANT INTO CYLINDER #3. THIS CAUSES THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT AND WHITE SMOKE TO COME OUT OF THE EXHAUST.
I OWN A 2016 FORD EDGE THAT USE TO BE MY LEASED WORK VEHICLE AND I BOUGHT IT FROM THE COMPANY FOR MY WIFE ON 11/15/2019 WITH 67,696 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I HAVE NEVER HAD ONE ISSUES WITH THIS CAR AND I HAVE PUT EVERY MILE ON IT FROM WORK UNTIL I BOUGHT IT FROM THE COMPANY/EMKAY LEASE PROGRAM. THE CURRENT MILEAGE AS OF TODAY IS 72,853 MILES AND I HAD IT SERVICED FROM LANDMARK FORD IN PORTLAND OREGON. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME LAST WEEK ON AND I TOOK THE EDGE IN FOR SERVICE BUT NEEDED TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK TODAY SO LANDMARK FORD COULD DO A DIAGNOSTICS ON THE VEHICLE. MY WIFE AND MY DAUGHTER DROPPED OFF THE VEHICLE AND HOURS LATER, I WAS NOTIFIED BY CHRIS KELSO AT LANDMARK FORD (503-598-8398) THAT COOLANT WAS GETTING INTO THE ENGINE CYLINDERS AND I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE FOR CLOSE TO $7000.00. I HAVE DEALT WITH CHRIS FOR YEARS AND HE DOES A GREAT JOB FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. CHRIS MENTIONED THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH EDGES AND A NEW ENGINE IS THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT. I TOLD CHRIS I CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE AN ENGINE ON A VEHICLE I PURCHASED IN NOVEMBER OF 2019, SO WHY WOULDN'T FORD HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, IF THEY KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM? CHRIS DID NOT HAVE AN ANSWER, WHICH I CAN TELL THAT BOTHERED HIM. I'VE TAKEN GREAT CARE OF THIS FORD EDGE SINCE THE ODOMETER HAD 13 MILES ON IT FOR MY WORK FLEET VEHICLE. I'M CURRENTLY DRIVING A 2019 FORD EDGE FOR MY NEW WORK VEHICLE AND I HAVE BEEN A FORD AND A FORD EDGE FAN BUT THIS NEWS TO REPLACE THE ENGINE IS VERY UNSETTLING TO ME AT THIS TIME IN OUR LIVES. I WOULD REALLY LIKE SOMEONE WITH THE AUTHORITY TO STEP UP AND PROVIDE SOME ASSISTANCE TO HELP ME REPLACE MY ENGINE ON THIS VEHICLE UNDER A CONSUMER RECALL ESPECIALLY AFTER READING ALL THE COMMENTS FOR OTHER EDGE OWNERS PLEASE FORD MOTOR COMPANY POST A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE FAULTY COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The contact had the vehicle jump started. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated that the gear shift sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was 44,000. The contact stated that due to the failure, the vehicle required a third battery install. The contact took the vehicle to another dealer and was informed that the gear shift sensor needed to be replaced, that this failure was common in other Ford models. The battery was being drained despite being in park. The contact has had no further issues since the repair.
VEHICLE ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON LUCKY TO BE IN FROM A DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THERE WAS A NATIONAL HIGHWAY BULLETIN ABOUT ENGINE, LUCKILY I HAD WARRANTY TOOK 43 WEEKS TO AUTHORIZE ARE AWARE OF A PROBLEM WITH ENGINE
AT 35,000 MILES, WHEN STARTING AND THEN WHILE RUNNING CAR STARTED HESITATING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. INITIALLY DEALER REPORTED IT WAS A SPARK PLUG AND THEY REPLACED IT ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE ARISE TWO DAYS LATER. BACK AT THE DEALER AN ANALYSIS SHOWED THAT A LEAK IN THE COOLING SYSTEM CAUSED FLUID TO ENTER INTO THE 3RD CYLINDER WHICH THEN CRACKED THE ENGINE. 7 WEEKS LATER A NEW ENGINE WAS REPLACED. ONLY GUARANTEED FOR 1 YEAR AND ORIGINAL CAUSE OF ISSUE (DESIGN FLAW) NOT CORRECTED SO LIKELY TO HAPPEN AGAIN WHEN OUT OF WARRANTY. KNOWN TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS ISSUE WITH NUMEROUS ENGINE FAILURES AND RE-FAILURES INCLUDING VEHICLE STOPPING WHEN DRIVING.
THE VEHICLE SMOKE EXTREMELY HEAVY AND MODERATE AMOUNT OF WHITE SMOKE WHEN START AND THE ENGINE COOLANT ALWAYS RUNS LOW
PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE AND HEARD A POP SOUND, PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. WITH BRAKE FLUID I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP, THOUGH AS I APPROACHED STOP SINGS AND SIGNALS THE CLOSER I GOT TO STOPPING, THE PEDAL WOULD DROP CLOSE TO THE FLOOR AND CONTINUE TO COAST UNTIL I STEPPED HARD ON THE PEDAL TO STOP IT. I WAS TOLD (AS I HAVE SEEN IN AT LEAST ONE OTHER REPORT ON THIS SITE) THAT THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE LINE HAD A CUT ON IT AND HAD EXPLODED. I DOUBT A ROAD HAZARD CUT THE LINE BUT SUSPECT AN ISSUE WITH THE PART ITSELF. *TR
INTERNAL COOLANT LEAK INTO CYLINDER #2 CAUSING MISS FIRE CODE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. KNOWN ISSUE BY FORD AND RECOMMENDS COMPLETE ENGINE CHANGE AND IS NOT COVERING ANY OF THE COST. *TR
ON 6/18/2020, WHILE SITTING IN A PARKING LOT MY VEHICLE WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING AND MY FOOT ON THE PEDAL, THE PEDAL SUDDENLY WENT TO THE FLOOR. NOT REALIZING WHAT HAD ACTUALLY HAPPENED, I DROVE THE 3 MILES HOME; HOWEVER, IN ORDER TO ENGAGE THE BRAKE, I HAD TO STEP VERY HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT TOOK LONGER THAN NORMAL TO GET THE VEHICLE TO SLOW TO A STOP. CONTACTED A REPAIR SHOP, WHO REMOVED AND REPLACED BOTH FRONT BRAKE HOSES AND FLUSHED THE BRAKE FLUID FOR A WHOPPING $510.03. WHEN DOING SOME RESEARCH, I CAME ACROSS RECALL # 20S42. AS FORD WAS AWARE THIS RISK, I DO NOT FEEL I SHOULD BE OUT OF POCKET THE $500+ I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ENSURE THAT THE HOSES USED TO REPLACE THE ORIGINALS ARE TRUE FORD PARTS; AS, ACCORDING TO FORD, THE PARTS ARE NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR INSTALL.
LOST POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET. WARNING CAME ON WITH : 1. STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED; 2. SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC. MY 2016 NORMALLY IS USED ON THE HIGHWAY, NOT CITY. LOSS OF POWER PULLED VEHICLE TO SIDE OF ROAD. 80K MILES ON EDGE. *TR
BETWEEN GETTING IN MY CAR AND STOPPING AT ANOTHER ERRAND, THE FIRST PANEL OF MY PANORAMIC SUNROOF CRACKED FROM FRONT TO BACK, RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE. THERE WAS NO IMPACT POINT. I NEVER HEARD A ROCK HIT MY CAR. I DROVE ON THE HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES BETWEEN STOPS. I DID DRIVE OVER A DIP IN THE ROAD BUT EVEN THEN, I NEVER HEARD IT CRACK. THE DEALER SUGGESTED I PLACE A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE BECAUSE OF THE COST. NO ONE CAN TELL ME HOW THE SUNROOF CRACKED. THE CAR IS GARAGED, THE TEMPERATURE WAS MODERATE, AND I DID NOT GO FROM A HOT ENVIRONMENT TO A COLD CAR WASH AS SOME HAVE SUGGESTED. *TR
ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED LIGHT IS ON. CAR PULLS TO THE RIGHT EVER SINCE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AT 37,000 MILES AND FORD REFUSES TO REPAIR THIS SAFETY MALFUNCTION UNDER ANY TYPE OF WARRANTY. I PURCHASED EXTENDED PLATINUM INSURANCE COVERAGE BECAUSE I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED 1 YEAR AGO. LIGHT COMES ON EVERYTHING I TURN THE VEHICLE ON. I'M CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY DRIVING, ESPECIALLY AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE FREEWAY.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that since owning the vehicle, the oil pan had been replaced a total of 4 times due to a leak in the oil pan. The contact stated that no warning light was illuminated prior to the discovery of the oil leak. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired after the latest failure and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was 30,780.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated while making turns from a complete stop, the message "Adaptive Steering Fault. Service Required" was displayed. The contact stated that the steering wheel delayed returning to the center while the message was displayed on several occasions. Additionally, the contact stated that the message was displayed after replacing the tires. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the steering assist control module needed to be replaced. Additionally, the dealer informed the contact that an alignment needed to be performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to Ford Campaign Number: 19B04. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 51,981.
CAR CAUGHT FIRE WHILE PARKED AND UNATTENDED! ON 5/26/2020 @ 3:12AM AWOKE TO A LOUD POP. LOOKED OUT WINDOW AND SAW CAR ON FIRE WITH FIRE IN THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE WELL AREA. BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT THE FIRE OUT PASSENGER SIDE OF CAR WAS PRETTY BURNED UP. CAR HAD BEEN PARKED IN THE STREET IN FRONT OF MY HOME FOR ABOUT 10 HOURS PRIOR TO THE FIRE AND THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF FOUL PLAY. *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V469000 (SERVICE BRAKES, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ROBERT HORNE FORD (3400 S TOMAHAWK RD, APACHE JUNCTION, AZ 85119; (855) 429-6080) AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45-50 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE TO THE SAME DEALER AND THE BRAKE LINE AND A MASTER CYLINDER WERE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REVERSING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND ANOTHER BRAKE LINE WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY, VEHICLE BEGAN TO MAKE HUMMING SOUND FROM REAR. AFTER ABOUT 1 MINUTE OF THESE SOUNDS, THE ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SPUTTER. VEHICLE CONTINUED SPUTTERING AT EACH STOP LIGHT, RUNNING ROUGH UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO REACH MY DESTINATION AND TURN VEHICLE OFF.
ON TUESDAY 29 APRIL 2020 WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND STRIKING NO BUMPS OR POTHOLES WE OBSERVED THE PANORAMIC FIXED PORTION OF THE SUNROOF CRACK FROM CORNER TO CORNER. NOTHING HAD STRUCK THE GLASS AND THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR TEMPERATURE WERE ABOUT EQUALIZED. THIS HAS CAUSED A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD AND I AM NO LONGER DRIVING THE VEHICLE AS I USE THIS TO TRANSPORT MY SEVEN-MONTH-OLD GRANDSON AND CANNOT TRUST THE GLASS PANEL FORD HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND HAS NOT OFFERED ANY RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM
MY CAR HAD BEEN PARKED FOR THREE DAYS WITHOUT MOVING OR OTHER USE. I WALKED PAST THE BACK AND SAW THAT THE BOTTOM OF THE REAR WINDSHIELD HAD AN ALLIGATOR EDGE (PIECES ON THE GROUND), IT LOOKED AS IF SOMEONE HAD TO TRIED TO PUNCH *OUT* ON THE RIGHT SIDE, AND THE WHOLE WINDSHIELD WAS SHATTERED WHEN YOU LOOKED CLOSELY AT THE GLASS. THERE WERE NO HOLES IN THE WINDSHIELD AND NO SIGN OF IMPACT.FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. WE LIVE IN ON AN ACRE AND HAVE SECURITY CAMERAS SO VERIFIED THERE WAS NO VANDALISM ACTED ON THE CAR NOR DID ANY ACT OF NATURE COME INTO CONTACT WITH MY CAR. IN LOOKING, THERE ARE SEVERAL PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET WITH THE SAME EXPERIENCE, WITH THE SAME EXACT GLASS BURST PATTERNS INCLUDING THE POP OUT SPOT ON THE RIGHT SIDE. WHEN I DID MOVE THE CARE TO ALLOW THE GLASS REPAIR PERSON ACCESS, CLOSING THE DOOR CAUSED THE WINDSHIELD TO FALL IN STARTING AT THE PUNCH OUT SPOT.
WHILE DRIVING IN MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN THE PASSENGER SIDE WIPER THROWS THE WATER IN FRONT OF THE DRIVERS MAIN FIELD OF VISION; THE END OF THE PASSENGER SIDE WIPER PASSES DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER AS IT IS WIPING THE WINDSHIELD AND THE EXCESS WATER FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE WIPER IS THROWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DRIVERS FRONT/DIRECT FIELD OF VISION MAKING IT VERY HARD TO SEE DURING THE RAIN CREATING AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD; THIS COULD EASILY BE REMEDIED WITH A SHORTER WIPER ARM MECHANISM ON THE PASSENGER SIDE.
THE ADAPTIVE STEERING MODULE INTEGRATED IN THE RACK AND PINION SHORTED AND ONE CAN NO LONGER USE THE ADAPTIVE STEERING FEATURE. THE NHTSA RECALLED THE STEERING WHEEL WITH THE ELECTRIC ADAPTIVE STEERING MOTOR, HOWEVER NHTSA DID NOT RECALL THE RACK AND PINION WITH THE DEFECTIVE ADAPTIVE ELECTRONICS. I'M LUCKY MY STEERING WHEEL FAILED STRAIGHT AND DID NOT CAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL TO BE COCKED. I WOULD LIKE TO PREVENT CAR MANUFACTURERS FROM INTEGRATING ELECTRONICS INTO NON-SERVICEABLE COMPONENTS. THE ONLY WAY TO RESOLVE THE ADAPTIVE STEERING FAILURE IS TO REPLACE THE RACK AND PINION. GOING FORWARD ALL AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURES SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO INTEGRATE NON-SERVICEABLE ELECTRONICS WITH MECHANICAL PARTS. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND I TRIED TO MODIFY THE SETTINGS FOR THE ADAPTIVE STEERING IN DRIVER ASSIST SETTINGS.THE ADAPTIVE STEERING FEATURE IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE SINCE THE ELECTRONICS SHORTED. WHY RECALL THE STEERING WHEEL AND NOT THE ELECTRONICS IN THE RACK AND PINION. IT DOES NOT ADD UP BECAUSE IT WAS AN 50% REPAIR. WHY BOTHER WITH THE RECALL IF YOU DID NOT ADDRESS THE ENTIRE PROBLEM. THE ADAPTIVE STEERING ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS IN THE RACK SHOULD BE A REMOVABLE MODULE SO YOU CAN REPAIR THE ELECTRONICS WITHOUT HAVING THE CHANGE THE ENTIRE RACK AND PINION.

I NOTICED THAT FORD ISSUED A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE FOCUS, 18S32, FOR A FAULTY VAPOR CANISTER PURGE VALVE, AND HAVE FOUND MUCH EVIDENCE ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ACROSS FORD PRODUCT LINES. I OPENED THE REAR LIFT GATE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND WAS LOADING STUFF INTO THE BACK OF VEHICLE; EITHER I ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE KEY FOB IN MY POCKET OR MY FOOT TRIGGERED THE AUTOMATIC OPEN/CLOSE SENSOR AND THE LIFTGATE BEGAN CLOSING ON ME AND WOULD NOT STOP EVEN ONCE IT FELT PRESSURE FROM HITTING AN OBJECT (ME). ONE EVENING IN MAY, 2018, TOOK MY CAR TO GET GAS AND FELT THE BRAKES TOO SOFT. WHEN LEAVING THE GAS STATION, MY BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR. PUT EMERGENCY BRAKE ON WITH HAZARD LIGHTS AND WAS ABLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A NEARBY RESIDENTIAL AREA. BRAKE FLUID WAS ADDED WITHIN MINUTES; ALL THE FLUID RAN TO THE GROUND. IT WAS TOWED NEXT MORNING TO THE DEALER. DEALER STATED THE BRAKE LINE HAD A 2" SLASH; SAID ANYTHING COULD'VE CAUSED IT. IT WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. ON MARCH 7, 2020, WENT TO RUN ERRANDS. WHEN I PARKED AT LOT, THE BRAKES FELT SOFT. WHEN LEAVING THE STORE LOT, MY BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR, AGAIN! THIS TIME, I'M ALREADY IN TRAFFIC; SCARIEST THING EVER! NEW INVOICE STATES: "LEFT FRONT BRAKE HOSE LEAKING," AND "INSPECT AND FOUND LEFT FRONT BRAKE HOSE SPLITTING/LEAKING; REPLACED LEFT FRONT BRAKE HOSE, BLEED BRAKE SYSTEM, TEST DROVE AND OK AT THIS TIME." THIS TIME? I WAS TOLD THE MAY 2018 ISSUE WAS THE SAME, EXCEPT THAT ONE WAS THE BACK BRAKE HOSE. AND NO WARRANTY THIS TIME; HAD TO PAY OVER $500 FOR REPAIR. VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT FORD HASN'T MADE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. I TRAVEL 35 MILES DAILY TO WORK ON THE TOLL ROAD. WHAT AM I TO DO WHEN THIS HAPPENS ON A 60-MILE SPEED LIMIT HIGHWAY? LARGE CRACKS HAVE DEVELOPED IN THE REAR, FIXED, PANORAMIC SUNROOF. THE CAR IS GARAGE STORED AND THE GLASS DOESN'T SHOW ANY SIGNS OF IMPACT ON THE OUTSIDE. THEY APPEAR TO BE STRESS FRACTURES.
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ENGINE HAD 112489 MILES. AFTER MUCH BACK AND FORTH IT WAS DETERMINED I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. AT THAT POINT I TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. AGAIN AFTER MUCH BACK AND FORTH IT WAS DETERMINED THAT I NEED A NEW ENGINE. I CONTACTED FORD, AND THEY WOULD OFFER NO HELP ON THIS. I DID GET A NEW ENGINE AT THE FIRST SERVICE CENTER FOR $6,000.00 I WENT TO. THE FORD DEALERSHIP WAS $1,500.00 MORE. I ALSO FOUND OUT THAT THERE ARE A NUMBER SERCVICE BULLETINS CONCERNING THIS ISSUE, AND YET FORD OFFERED NO HELP. THE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN THE CAR WAS IN MOTION.
11/2018 - WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY I PRESSED BRAKE TO START CAR, CAR JERKED AND PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I PUMPED BRAKES AND THEY SEEMED TO BE OKAY. STARTED DRIVING AND PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AGAIN WHEN I WAS BRAKING. WAS ONLY ABLE TO STOP BY PUMPING BRAKES. DEALER STATED THAT A FRONT BRAKE LINE RUPTURED AND REPAIRED THE LINE. VEHICLE WAS 2 YEARS OLD. WITH UNDER 36,000 MILES ON 1/27/2020 WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND HEARD A LOUD BANG AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I TRIED PUMPING THE BRAKES AND HEARD ANOTHER BANG WITH THE PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR AGAIN. I WAS DOWN THE STREET FROM MY HOME SO I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR HOME AND CALL A TOW TRUCK. I HAD IT TOWED TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT BOTH FRONT BRAKE LINES HAD RUPTURED.

I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE. ONCE I WAS STOPPED, TURNED OFF THE CAR AND IT RESTARTED LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. THESE EVENTS WERE VERY DANGEROUS. ONCE WAS WHEN IT WAS RAINING SO WHEN THE CAR LOST POWER, THE WIPERS STOPPED AT 70 MPH SO I HAD TO NAVIGATE TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO SEE. A SECOND TIME WAS AT NIGHT DRIVING 70 MPH, WHEN IT SHUTDOWN, I LOST HEADLIGHTS AND I COULDN'T SEE. IT WAS TERRIFYING AS I WAS IN A REMOTE AREA OF I-49 WITHOUT ANY LIGHTING TO NAVIGATE TO THE SHOULDER. AGAIN, ONCE STOPPED AND PUT IN PARK, IT RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY. PLEASE NOTE, I'M NOT THE OWNER OF THIS CAR. I WAS DRIVING IT AS A LOANER FROM A USED CAR DEALERSHIP. THIS IS REGARDING FORD'S SAFETY RECALL 19S26. MY CAR TOO SHOWED SIMILAR SYMPTOMS AS MENTIONED IN THE RECALL NOTICE AND THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACE THE STEERING . GEAR AND THE BOLTS. UNFORTUNATELY, MY CAR DOES NOT SHOW UP IN THE RECALL LIST EVEN THOUGH THE MAKE, MODEL AND THE MANUFACTURING PLANT MATCHES. THE REPAIRS COST ME A 100$ DEDUCTIBLE ON MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND 60$ TO JUMP START THE CAR. OTHER COSTS INCLUDED HAVING TO DEPEND ON UBER FOR TRANSPORTATION. MY MOTIVE TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT IS TO MAKE SURE THE RECALL VEHICLE LIST IS ACCURATE.

THE SAFELITE TECHNICIAN THAT COMPLETED THE REPLACEMENT STARED THIS WAS THE 4TH FORD EDGE HE'S HAD TO REPLACE THE BACK WINDOW ON THIS PAST YEAR FROM THE WINDOW SHATTERING.
