STARTED VEHICLE BY PUSHING THE BRAKE AND HEARD A NOISE. CAR STARTED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. COMPUTER IN CAR STARTED READING LOW BRAKE FLUID. HAD CAR TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP. HYDRAULIC BREAK LINE BROKE ON RIGHT FRONT WHEEL. CAR ONLY HAS 62,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THIS IS SAFETY DEFECT AND FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CORRECTING THIS.
I WAS TRAVELING 35 MPH ON HIGHWAY 20/20 IN GARDEN CITY IDAHO, A CAR PULLED OUT OF A PARKING LOT WITHOUT STOPPING. I HIT THE DRIVERS SIDE OF HIS CAR. MY EDGE WAS TOTALED. I HIT HARD AND HAD A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT AND TWO MORE IN THE BACK. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND I FEEL THEY SHOULD HAVE. THE ONLY ONE THAT DID WAS THE SKIRT AIRBAG AT MY LEGS.
THE SYNC3 NAVIGATION SYSTEM STOPS RESPONDING AT DIFFERENT TIMES WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLES NAVIGATION, RADIO, HEAT CONTROLS BECOME INOPERABLE. THE FUNCTIONALITY MAY BE RETURNED AFTER A REBOOT OF THE SYSTEM. THIS HAPPENS WHEN BOTH PARKED AND WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
SUDDEN FAILURE OF BRAKES (PEDAL DEPRESSED TO FLOOR) PULLING OUT OF STORE PARKING LOT. FORD REPAIR NOTED THIS WAS DUE TO BRAKE FLUID LEAK FROM RIGHT FRONT BRAKE DUE TO 'EXCESSIVE MATERIAL FATIGUE'.
FOUND MOON ROOF TO BE CRACKED.
SUNROOF GLASS CRACKED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. ONE DAY IT WAS FINE, NEXT DAY IT WAS CRACKED. I TOOK TO FORD DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME $1,000 TO REPAIR AND THAT THEY USE 3RD PARTY TO REPAIR. MY CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THEY SAID IT IS NOT COVERED. I DID RESEARCH AND MANY OTHERS HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE.
SINCE PURCHASED AS A CERTIFIED PRE OWNED, THERE IS ALWAYS A VERY NOTICEABLE CLICKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE WHEN COLD, AND GRADUALLY QUIETS WHEN WARMED UP... SIMILAR TO A STICKING VALVE LIFTER. THE SERVICING DEALER CHECKED WITH FORD AND SAID THE ENGINEERS ARE WORKING ON THE ISSUE, BUT THERE ARE NO REPAIRS FOR THIS CONDITION AND IT WILL NOT HARM THE ENGINE.
THE ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. THERE IS A TSB ON THIS AND THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE STEERING WHEEL TO FIX IT. NOW IT IS COMING ON AGAIN WITH THE NEW STEERING WHEEL AND WILL NEED TO GO BACK TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. IT CAME ON DURING A HIGHWAY TRIP FROM NEW ORLEANS TO DAYTONA AND HAS STAYED ON EVER SINCE. THE STEERING WHEEL IS TILTED LEFT AS A RESULT.
DRIVING VEHICLE OUT OF DEVELOPMENT WHEN I EXPERIENCED THE BRAKES CATASTROPHICALLY FAIL. I PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH LITTLE RESPONSE. THE DEALER SAID THE MASTER CYLINDER LEAKED INTO THE BOOSTER CAUSING BOTH COMPONENTS TO FAIL. OVER $1,000 ON REPAIR AND NO TANGIBLE SOLUTION. FEARFUL!
REAR WINDOW SHATTERED FOR NO APPARENT REASON.
THIS IS THE SECOND FAILURE OF THE ADAPTIVE POWER STEERING ON MY 2016 EDGE SPORT WITH 22,500 MILES ON IT. THE FIRST TIME WAS WHEN THE CAR HAD 8800 MILES ON IT AND FORD WOUND UP REPLACING THE WHOLE STEERING WHEEL IN AUGUST OF 2017. THIS MORNING IT HAPPENED AGAIN ALMOST IDENTICALLY TO THE LAST TIME. I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE STEERING WHEEL OUT OF NOWHERE TURNS 90 DEGREES TO THE LEFT TO WHERE THE TOP OF THE STEERING WHEEL NOW POINTS TO THE RIGHT WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT. I HAVE A APPOINTMENT TO BRING TO MY FORD DEALERSHIP ON 1/31/19.
I OPENED THE SUNROOF COVER AND IT REVEALED A LARGE CRACK IN THE GLASS. I'VE ALREADY HAD THE SUNROOF REPLACED ONCE UNDER WARRANTY FROM FORD FOR A SIMILAR CRACK.
REAR WINDOW GLASS COLLAPSED / CRUMBLED DURING NORMAL USE. THE WINDOW DID NOT SHOW ANY INITIAL SIGN OF CRACKING OR FAILURE. IT APPEARS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL THAT TO DATE FORD HAS NOT ADDRESSED BY RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME HOWEVER IT COULD HAVE OCCURRED THE NEXT TIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. THIS COULD BE RISK TO PASSENGERS OF THE VEHICLE OR OTHER VEHICLES FOLLOWING.
WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS OF THE 2016 EDGE. AT APPROXIMATELY 48,000 MILES, WE HEARD A POPPING NOISE IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION WHICH PROGRESSED TO A LOUD SQUEAKING SOUND ON BUMPS AND TURNING. THE LOCAL DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AT 54,000 MILES, THE VEHICLE STARTED DARTING ON UNEVEN ROAD SURFACES (RAPID SHIFTS IN DIRECTIONAL STABILITY, OFTEN CHANGING LANES WITHOUT WARNING). THE LOCAL DEALER SAID THERE WERE NO TSB'S ON THAT PROBLEM AND DID NOT FIND A PROBLEM(!). I RAISED THE FRONT SUSPENSION MYSELF AND FOUND THE DRIVERS BALL JOINT ALMOST READY TO DISLODGE FROM THE CONTROL ARM. I REPLACED THE LOWER CONTROL ARM MYSELF (I AM A RETIRED AUTO INSTRUCTOR) FOLLOWING FORD'S RECOMMENDATIONS. AFTER AN ALIGNMENT, THE VEHICLE DRIVES CONSIDERABLY BETTER BUT SOMEHOW NOT PERFECT. NOTE THAT THERE IS STILL A CLUNKING IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION BUT THERE DOESNT APPEAR TO BE ANYTHING LOOSE, ALTHOUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE LOWER BALL JOINT APPEARS TO BE LOOSER THAN WHAT I WOULD EXPECT FOR THAT YEAR VEHICLE WITH THAT MILEAGE (NOW JUST AT 57,000 MILES.) THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION WHICH CERTAINLY SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A VEHICLE WITH THAT FEW MILES
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET ON 12/27/18 WHEN THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER DOOR OPENED. I PARKED THE CAR AND TRIED TO CLOSE IT BUT I COULDN'T. I TURNED THE CHILD PROOF LOCK AND IT STILL WOULDN'T CLOSE. CALLED FORD IN WOODBURY,NJ AND BRIAN TOLD ME THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND THEY WERE BUSY BUT THEY'D TRY AND TAKE A LOOK. I TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL GAS STATION AND MIKE, THE MECHANIC, SAID THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIS FORD TRUCK AND OTHER PEOPLES CARS. HE GOT A SCREW DRIVER AND HE WAS ABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR. MY 5 YR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER WAS SITTING THERE WHEN IT OPENED. WE WERE GOING TO BE RIDING ON THE NJ TURNPIKE AND GARDEN STATE PKWY. THANK GOD IT DIDN'T OPEN THEN. THE MECHANIC SAID THE LOCK FROZE.
WHILE DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY AT 70 MPH. IN TRAFFIC ENGINE LOST POWER CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN AND WOULD NOT SPEED BACK UP. THE WRENCH AND THE HILL ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE ICONS WERE ON. TURNED ON FLASHERS AND PEOPLE BEHIND ME GAVE ME ROOM TO CHANGE LANES AND PULL TO THE SHOULDER. ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING ROUGHLY. HIT ENGINE STOP BUTTON, WAITED A FEW SECONDS TRIED TO RESTART. IT CRANKED AND FINALLY RESTARTED. WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME WITH NO PROBLEMS. MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH FORD DEALER AND THEY ACTED LIKE IT WAS NO BIG DEAL.
PANORAMIC ROOF CRACKED WITH NO IMPACT - APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE
THE REAR WINDOW OF MY EDGE EXPLODED WITH NO ONE IN THE VEHICLE'. MY WIFE REMOTE STARTED THE CAR, THEN LATER SHE WENT OUT TO GET THE NEWSPAPER AND GO SHOPPING WHEN SHE NOTICED GLASS ON THE GROUND BEHIND THE CAR. THINKING IT WAS VANDALIZED WE CALLED THE POLICE. UPON THE PATROLMAN'S EXAMINATION HE NOTED THAT IT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS BROKEN FROM THE INSIDE! I AGREED. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND WAS LOCKED.
THERE WAS RECENTLY A RECALL FOR DOOR LATCHES FOR SEVERAL FORD MODELS AND I BELIEVE THE FORD EDGE SHOULD BE ADDED TO THAT LIST. MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR DOES NOT ALWAYS LATCH EVEN AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. AS FORD STATED, I AM WORRIED 'EVEN IF AN OWNER GETS THE DOOR TO LATCH AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS, IT IS STILL POSSIBLE THAT IT WILL BECOME UNLATCHED DURING DRIVING.' THIS HAPPENS WHILE SHUTTING THE DOOR WHILE INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. *TR
LOST CONTROL ON MY STEARING DRIVING TO MY WORK THIS MORNING. I WAS DRIVING ON STRAIGHT ROAD WHEN I STARTED EXPECTING LOST OF STEARING, CAR WAS ALMAST START DRIVING TO THE CURB. I PUT ON BREAKS AND CAR WOULDN'T STOP. TRYED TO MANEUVER CAR TO STOP FROM GOING ON CURB AND TURNING TO OPPOSITSIDE BUT THERE WAS OUTCOMING TRAFFIC, BUT WAS VERY UNFORTUNATE TO CONTROL THAT IS WAS STILL DRIVING EVEN I WAS PUSHING ON THE BREAKS AND CAR WENT ALL THE WAY TO SIDE OF THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION AND FLUE TO THE FIELD AND DREW THERE FOR 100-200 FEET UNTILL IT IS STOPPED. I WAS LUCKY SURVIVE, BECAUSE THERE WAS ELECTRIC POLE AND SOME UNEVEN LAMDSCAPE THAT I CULD BEEN INJURED OR EVEN DEAD. DANGEROUS! CAN'T EXPLAIN FEAR I EXPERIENCED THIS MORNING. SCHEDULED TIME WITH FORD AT SAWMILL IN DUBLIN, OHIO TO CHECK WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS CAR!
GOT AN ERROR MESSAGE: "ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT, NEED SERVICE", JUST AFTER THE MANUFACTURE WARRANTY EXPIRED. NEED TO SPEND ABOUT 1.8K TO FIX THIS. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE FOR MANY 2016 FORD EDGE SPORT. REALLY CONCERN ABOUT THE QUALITY AND SAFETY OF FORD CARS. SO DISAPPOINTED.
I AM CONTINUING TO DOCUMENT EACH OCCURRENCE OF THE ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED LIGHT. BY THE TIME I GET TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT HOLD THE CODES. THE LIGHT GOES OUT. IT CAME ON OCTOBER 28, 2018 AT 9PM AT 21870 MILES. I WENT BACK TO MY VEHICLE FIVE MINUTES LATER AND IT WAS OUT. I DROVE TO WORK THIS MORNING AND THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I WAS DRIVING AROUND 5/10 MPH AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TILTED TO THE RIGHT DESPITE THE WHEELS BEING STRAIGHT. IF I CAN'T TAKE IT DO THE DEALER AND HAVE THEM ADDRESS IT, I'M NOT SURE WHAT ELSE TO DO. THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS TO REPLACE THE STEERING WHEEL BUT I AM TOLD THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE WON'T RETAIN THE CODES WHEN THE LIGHT GOES OUT, THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING.
FORD EDGE SEL 2016 VIN * [XXX] 22,500 MILES SINCE I ACQUIRED IT (HE,SHE) HAS A PROBLEM OF WHEN I AM TRAVELING A HIGHWAY AND THE SPEED COMES TO 60 MPH THE ENGINE IS IN DISCHARGE REVOLUTIONIZE RAISING A HILL AN EVIL ENTERS(APPROACHES) SMELL OF GASES OF THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR, I HAVE TO REDUCE THE SPEED AND OPEN CRYSTALS OF THE CAR IN ORDER THAT THE SMELL GOES OUT AND COULD BE BREATHED WELL. I IT HAVE TAKEN IN 3 OCCASIONS TWO WORKSHOPS AUTHORIZED BY FORD FOR GUARANTEE AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING, THEY ME INFORM THAT THE COMPUTER DOES NOT REFLECT ANYTHING. I PARKED MY CAR IN A LOT W/OUT ANY ISSUES. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE AND STARTED THE CAR AND PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE GEAR, A WARNING LIGHT "ADAPTIVE STEERING FAILURE" WAS DISPLAYED. THE WHEEL SEEMED TO NOT BE CENTERED WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT. I EVEN TRIED SHUTTING OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTING, BUT TO NO AVAIL. I PARKED IT AT HOME AND THE NEXT DAY STARTED IT TO SHOW MY HUSBAND AND THE LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ON. THE STEERING WHEEL STILL SEEMS OFF THOUGH. I'M TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THE CAR AND AM HOPING THE DEALERSHIP WILL BE THOROUGH IN INVESTIGATING THE REASON FOR THIS.
ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND TRANSMISSION IN PARK MILEAGE 33205.9. UPON STARTING, THE WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED. AFTER ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF MESSAGE, THE DASH LIGHT REMAINED ON. IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO DEALER FOR SERVICE AND SHOWED WARNING TO SERVICE MANAGER. WAS NOT ABLE TO HAVE A TECHNICIAN REVIEW ISSUE AS TO LACK OF AVAILABILITY. SCHEDULED NEXT AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT, 6 DAYS LATER. ADVISED THAT SITUATION IS SAFE TO DRIVE. LIGHT WENT OFF UPON SHUTDOWN. WARNING APPEARED AGAIN AT 33324.1 MILES, STATIONARY IN PARK. RETURNED TO DEALER DURIN APPOINTMENT. ADVISED AFTER TECHNICIAN ASSESSMENT THAT I HAVE A FAULTY ADAPTIVE STEERING COMPONENT REQUIRE STEERING WHEEL REPLACEMENT. NEED TO HAVE FORD AUTHORIZATION FOR REPAIR, RESCHEDULED FOR SERVICE REPAIR. ADVISED THAT THERE IS NO VEHICLE LOANER FOR THIS SERVICE. ALSO, ADVISED THAT IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE WITH THIS CONDITION. VEHICLE HAS EXHIBITED A STIFFNESS IN STEERING SINCE THIS INCIDENT HAS STARTED. CONFIDENCE ON VEHICLE'S SAFETY IS COMPRISED.
THE ADAPATIVE STEERING FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. IT'S COME ON SEVERAL TIMES BUT SINCE THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T OR WON'T FIX IT BECAUSE THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND LIGHT GOES OUT AND APPARENTLY DOES NOT STORE CODES, I'VE BEGUN THE PROCESS TO DOCUMENT THE DATES, TIMES AND MILEAGE IT COMES ON AND GOING FORWARD WILL TAKE A PICTURE EVERY TIME IT HAPPENS. IT HAPPENED ON OCTOBER 3, 2018 AT 930 @ 21,499 MILES AS I WAS PULLING INTO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD "SEE" IT OR GET TROUBLE CODES. ON OCTOBER 11, 2018 AT 0900 AND 1620. IT WENT OUT WHEN I DROVE AT LUNCH ON THE 11TH AND THEN CAME BACK ON WHEN I WAS DRIVING HOME. THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON IT BUT THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING. I'M PETRIFIED TO DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 22,000 MILES ON IT AND FORD DOES NOT SEEM TO CARE.

GOT OUT OF MY CAR AND CLOSED MY FRONT DOOR AND POP AND CRUMBLING NOISE ONLY TO DISCOVER THE REAR WINDOW CAVED IN WAS ALL SHATTERED AROUND THE BOTTOM EDGES. HAVE SEEN SEVERAL POSTS, PICS AND FORUMS ONLINE ABOUT THIS HAPPENING. WHY IS FORD NOT BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE. DEALER SAID IT'S NOT COVERED DESPITE'S IT BEING A COMMON ISSUE. HAD TO FILE AN INSURANCE CLAIM AND PAY MY DEDUCTIBLE FOR SOMETHING THAT FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR. LUCKILY I WAS PARKED WHEN IT HAPPENED.
THE ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT SERVICE REQUIRE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. WHEN TRYING TO GET THE DEALERSHIPS TO LOOK INTO IT I AM TOLD IT WON'T SHOW AN CODES OR THEY DON'T SEE THE LIGHT. I DON'T KNOW HOW THIS IS POSSIBLE. THEY SAY THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE AND BY THE TIME IT COMES ON AGAIN IT WILL TURN OFF AFTER SO MANY "KEY" CYCLES. APPARENTLY, THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT THEY STILL WON'T DO ANYTHING TO FIX IT. IT MAKES THE STEERING WHEEL CROOKED AND SEEM LIKE IT'S STEERING WRONG. I JUST HOPE THE STEERING DOESN'T FAIL WHILE DRIVING IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EDGE. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INCREASED TO "HOT" AND THE "COOLANT OVERHEATED" MESSAGE DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PARK CITY FORD (3333 INWOOD RD, DALLAS, TX) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT AN ELECTRICAL VOLTAGE SURGE HAD DAMAGED THE BATTERY, WIRE HARNESS, FUSE BOX, AND COOLING FAN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EDGE. WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING 25-35 MPH, SHE HEARD AN EXPLOSIVE NOISE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED, BUT FAILED TO RESPOND AND TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE LINE EXPLODED. THE CONTACT ASSUMED THAT THE BRAKE LINE WAS TAMPERED WITH AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE DRIVER'S SIDE BRAKE LINE EXPLODED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 173,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
IF DRIVING IN A VERY SLIGHT DRIZZLE OR MIST, THE WIPERS DO NOT OPERATE PROPERLY IN THE INTERMITTENT MODE OR SINGLE SWIPE OPERATION. THE WIPERS WIPE THE MOISTURE OFF, THEN STICK, OR STUTTER AND JUMP ON THE RETURN. AT HIGHWAY SPEED WIND GETS UNDER THE WIPER WHEN IT JUMPS AND CAUSES A HARD SLAP AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD. THIS IS DANGEROUS AS VISIBILITY IS IMPAIRED - PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS AT NIGHT IN A SLIGHT RAIN. UPLOADED IS RECORD OF REPAIR VISIT. MORE SERIOUS EVENTS ON LONG ROAD TRIP 09/25-10/14/2018.
SEPT 5,2018 HAD A BAD ACCIDENT WHOLE FROM END CRUSHED HIT MY HEAD ON SIDE WINDOW AND BRUISED RIBS FROM SEAT BELT AIR BAG NEVER WENT OFF. 6 MONTHS AGO I HAD MY WIPER BLADES REPLACED AS RECOMMENDED BY DEALER. WVER SINCE THEN IF ITS RAINING MILDLY THE DRIVERS WIPER BLDE GETS STUCK AND IT WAS WHILE I WAS TRAVELING ON A TRIP. FELT UNSAFE. FORD HAS REPLACED THESE BLADES TWICS AND EVEN THE MOTOR FOR WIPERS. IT IS STILL HAPPENING. I THINK QUALITY OF THE BLADES ARE NOT GOOD. THIS ALWAYS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AND IF IT WAS NOT HEAVILY RAINING JUST REGULAR RAIN. I MUST SAY HOWEVER THT FORD DEALER HAS TRIED THEIR VERY BEST AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN WONDERFUL. I JUST FEAR THAT WIPER BLADES ARE NOT OF GOOD QUALITY
I BOUGHT A 2016 EDGE TITANIUM LAST YEAR. THE WRENCH ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THIS WEEK. WHEN I TOOK THE EDGE TO THE DEALER, THE FIRST THING THE DEALERSHIP DID WAS LOOK INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND EXPLAINED THAT MY WIRES AND SENSORS WERE CHEWED BY RABBITS OR MICE. I LEARNED THE ELECTRICAL WIRING SYSTEM IS SOY BASED. I ASKED IF THE DEALER COULD REPLACE THE WIRES AND SENSORS WITH NON-SOY PRODUCTS AND WAS TOLD FORD DOES NOT MAKE A NON-SOY BASED WIRING SYSTEM. I LIVE IN COLORADO AND WE USE OUR VEHICLES OUT SIDE FOR CAMPING, VACATIONS, AND DRIVING. ANIMALS APPARENTLY LOVE SOY. THERE ARE PLENTY OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR ANIMALS TO DESTROY WIRING SYSTEMS WHERE I LIVE. THIS COST ME $1,050. THIS ALSO HAPPENED TO MY BROTHER WHO LIVES IN MISSOURI. HE HAD A 2016 FORD FUSION. IT WAS PARKED IN HIS DRIVEWAY 4 WEEKS. HE COULD NOT START HIS CAR AND HAD IT TOWED TO HIS DEALERSHIP. HE WAS INFORMED HE HAD TO HAVE HIS ELECTRICAL WIRING AND SENSORS REPLACED, WHICH COST HIM $2,000. THIS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE, OR MY BROTHER, AND I HAVE PURCHASED FORDS SINCE THE 1970S. I FEEL FORD SHOULD OFFER THE OPTION TO REPLACE THESE DEFECTIVE WIRING SYSTEMS WITH A NON-SOY PRODUCT AND REIMBURSE US FOR THIS DAMAGE. WHEN THE DEALERSHIP IS DONE WITH THE REPAIR, I WILL BE HAPPY TO PROVIDE THE REPAIR BILL.
BRAKES FAILED AND ACCIDENT RESULTED
THE FRONT SUNROOF ON MY FORD EDGE 2016 CRACKED FOR NO REASON. DOES NOT APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN HIT BY ANY OBJECT. HAS WAVY CRACK WHICH STARTS ON FRONT DRIVER SIDE CORNER AND RUNS BACKWARD. I OPENED THE INSIDE COVER WHILE PARKED ON A CITY STREET AND NOTICED THE CRACK.
THE CAR WAS PARKED. THE HEAD LIGHTS TURNED ON/OFF A COUPLE OF TIMES, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TURNED ON/OFF, AND THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOOR WINDOWS OPENED AND CLOSED SPONTANEOUSLY. BOTH KEY FOBS WERE IN THE HOUSE AT LEAST 40 FEET FROM THE CAR. THE CAR DOES NOT HAVE REMOTE START OPTION. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF AN ATTACHED GARAGE. THE HOUSE IS IN A RURAL AREA AT LEAST 1/4 MILE FROM THE NEAREST HOUSE. THE OBVIOUS CONCERN IS SECURITY WITH REGARD TO THEFT IN AN URBAN SETTING. ALSO POSSIBLE WATER DAMAGE IF THIS WAS TO OCCUR DURING A RAINSTORM. IT WAS WITNESSED BY THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE. THE ONLY "RF" DEVICES ACTIVE IN THE HOUSE WERE A CORDLESS PHONE, TWO CELL PHONES, AND A WIFI ROUTER.
MY BRAKES WERE SEVERED FROM INSIDE THE ENGINE. I HAD NO BRAKES DRIVING AND I AM IN SALES AND DRIVE FOR A LIVING. THEY TOLD ME IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN SINCE THERE ARE 4 HOSES TOTAL AND ONLY ONE WAS REPAIRED I COASTED INTO THE GOODYEAR IN TUSTIN, CA
VEHICLE LOST ASSISTED STEERING WHILE IN A PARKING LOT, MAKING IT INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE SCREEN ON THE DASH POPPED UP WITH THE MESSAGES'STEERING ASSIST FAULT' 'SERVICE ADVANCETRAC' AND 'HILL START ASSIST DISABLED'. I AM 250LBS, AND I FOUND IT VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER TURN THE WHEEL. THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT IF MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT HAPPENED, IT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN A WRECK. FORD SAID THE STEERING GEAR WAS THE PROBLEM, AND IT WOULD BE $2397.25 FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAS 40,700 MILES AND I CAN'T BELIEVE SOMETHING AS CRITICAL AS THE STEERING WOULD FAIL AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE.
TAKATA RECALL, FOR THE PAST TWO MONTHS I HAVE HAD A WARNING MESSAGE COME UP "ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED" THE SERVICE THAT IS REQUIRED, IS TO REPLACE MY STEERING WHEEL. ADAPTIVE STEERING WAS PLACED ON ALL 2016 FORD EDGE TITANIUM, NOW I'M WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY CAR, BECAUSE THERE IS A FAULT AND THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THE FAULT IS TO PAY AND REPLACE A STEERING WHEEL ON A CAR THAT'S LESS THEN 5 YEARS OLD.

THE VEHICLE THINKS THERE IS AN OBSTACLE IN OUR LANE. THE SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME AS THOSE OUTLINED IN A RECALL ISSUED FOR THE 2015-2016 FORD F-150 TRUCKS.

THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE SUN ROOF FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE VEHICLE'S WARRANTY; THEREFORE, ANY REPAIRS WOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE VEHICLE OWNER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE SUN ROOF FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE VEHICLE'S WARRANTY. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,800.
CAR STALLS OUT AND LOSES POWER AND SYMPTOMS HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO BE FATAL. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS UNDER ACCELERATION AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED 2 REAR-END ACCIDENTS. AS I ACCELERATE THE CAR THUMPS WHEN THE ENGINE STALLS AND THEN THE CAR LOSES ALL ACCELERATION. THIS SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WHEN HAPPENING ON THE HIGHWAY OR RAMP GETTING UP TO THE HIGHWAY. THESE ARE THE TWO PLACES IT CONSISTENTLY HAPPENS. THE CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE SERVICED 5 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE WITHOUT RESOLUTION. I WON'T LET MY FAMILY DRIVE THE CAR FOR FEAR OF INJURY TO HER. I'M PAYING FOR A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE AND I DON'T GET THE SENSE THAT FORD IS TRYING TO FIX THE ROOT ISSUE.
MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING WHEN HE OPENED THE SUN VISOR. I LOOKED AND THOUGHT THERE WAS ICE ON THE SUNROOF BECAUSE OF THE STRANGE SWIRL PATTERN. IT IS NOT COLD ENOUGH TO HAVE ICE LIKE THAT WHERE I LIVE. MY HUSBAND SAYS LOOK ITS CRACKED. THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF CRACKED IN A SWIRLED PATTERN. I TOOK THE CAR TO A PROFESSIONAL AUTO GLASS PLACE AND THE REPAIR GUY SAID HE DID NOT SEE ANY SPOTS WHERE THERE WOULD BE IMPACT. SO I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS A GLASS DEFECT. I TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THE SERVICE MANAGER GETS UP AND STARTS POKING THE GLASS WITH A PEN AND SAYS THERE ARE 2 PLACES OF IMPACT SO IT MUST HAVE HAD A ROCK HIT IT AND SKIP ALONG AND CRACK IT TWICE.
ENGINE SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING WITH NO WARNING. VEHICLE ENTERED "ACCESSORY MODE" WHICH KEPT ALL OF THE INSTRUMENTS LIGHT UP, WAS ABLE TO STEER OFF THE ROAD AND RE-START THE CAR. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC.
CAR DRIVING AT 55-70 MPH STRAIGHT LINE DOWN HIGHWAY AND SUDDENLY DIES. CAR STILL HAS ACCESSORY POWER, HIT HAZARD LIGHTS AND TRIED TO COAST TO SIDE OF ROAD WITHOUT GETTING HIT. UPON STOPPING CAR WILL IMMEDIATELY RESTART. YELLOW WRENCH LIGHTS UP ON DASH.
WIPERS LOCK ON EACH OTHER & STOPS, MAKING FOR VERY DANGEROUS CONDITIONS WHEN RAINING VERY MUCH. IN MOTION, EVERY TIME IT RAINS !!!
MY SUNROOF HAS CRACKED 4 TIMES. THERE MULTIPLE WAVY CRACKS ALL OVER THE WINDOWS. IT HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES AND AFTER THE THIRD ROOF, IT WAS CRACKED AGAIN WITHIN A MONTH. MY DEALER WILL NOT FULLY COVER THIS ROOF. I AM TOLD THAT IT IS FROM ROCK CHIPS BUT HONESTLY BELIEVE THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE GLASS OR POSSIBLY THE FRAME TO CAUSE THE CRACKS. ONCE I GET A NEW GLASS, IT IS CRACKED AGAIN WITHIN A MONTH. I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE GLASS. MY REAR WINDOW SHATTERED AS WELL WHILE PARKED AND FROM CLOSING THE DRIVER DOOR. I BELIEVE MY SUN ROOF HAS CRACKED ON STATIONARY AND DRIVING CONDITIONS.
