TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT NOTICED AN ABNORMAL EXHAUST ODOR ENTERING THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ISSUE WAS MORE PREVALENT WHILE USING THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING AND SOUGHT MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,066.
APPROXIMATELY 6000 MILES AFTER PURCHASE OF THE NEW VEHICLE IT BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE INTERMITTENT ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULTS. I COULD FIND NO PATTERN TO THE FAULTS APPEARANCE OR DISAPPEARANCE. THE FORD DEALER ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE ISSUE 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS DURING WHICH TIMES THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF SERVICE FOR AROUND 4 WEEKS. THE TOTAL DURATION OF THE PERIOD BETWEEN WHEN THE FAULT WARNING FIRST APPEARED AND THE PROBLEM WAS OSTENSIBLY FIXED IS CLOSER TO 5 -6 WEEKS. I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE (DUE TO THE NEED FOR PERSONAL AND WORK RELATED TRANSPORTATION) FOR MUCH OF THAT TIME DURING WHICH PERIOD I WAS VERY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY. THE FAULT HAS NOT RETURNED SINCE THE LAST REPAIR ATTEMPT WHEN THE DEALER REPLACED THE STEERING WHEEL. HOWEVER SINCE THE FAULT WAS INTERMITTENT I CANNOT BE SURE THAT THE ISSUE WILL RESURFACE AT A LATER DATE. WHEN THE STEERING FAULT FIRST APPEARED I DID SOME RESEARCH AND IT APPEARS THAT THE PROBLEM IS FAIRLY FREQUENT FOR LATE MODEL FORDS THAT HAVE THE SO-CALLED ADAPTIVE STEERING FEATURE. I'M EXPERIENCING WHAT MANY, MANY OTHER FORD SUPER DUTY TRUCK OWNERS HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING SINCE ABOUT 2005 COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE "DEATH WOBBLE". AT SPEEDS ABOVE 45 MILES PER HOUR, WHEN THE TRUCK GOES ACROSS A ROUGH (WASHBOARD) BIT OF ROAD OR A BRIDGE JOINT, THE FRONT END SOMETIMES SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHICH ALSO CAUSES THE STEERING WHEEL TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY UNTIL YOU CAN BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP, WHICH IS NOT EASY. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, WHICH COULD CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL RESULTING IN INJURY TO PASSENGERS AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. IN THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE, IT APPEARS THAT FORD HAS DONE VERY LITTLE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM FOR CONSUMERS. I HAVE MENTIONED THE PROBLEM TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK NEW TWICE NOW AND THEY SAY THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM IN A TEST DRIVE. I HAVE ONLY 26,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK AND THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. HAVE HAD IT ALIGNED TWICE AND TIRES ROTATED REGULARLY. NO UNUSUAL WEAR. MY WIFE REFUSES TO DRIVE THE TRUCK AND I'M NOT TOO EXCITED ABOUT IT MYSELF. WILL IT TAKE INJURIES AND DEATHS TO FORCE FORD INTO ADMITTING THERE IS A PROBLEM AND FIX IT?
ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT WARNING LIGHT ON DASH. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY FOUND NOTHING. TOLD US TO COME BACK IF IT OCCURRED AGAIN. HEARD A COUPLE OF CLICKS WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE WARNING CAME ON. WHEN WE TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED, THE WARNING WAS GONE.
STARTED WITH INTERMITTENT "ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT. SERVICE REQUIRED" WARNING WHICH NOW IS CONSTANT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER (CAPITOL FORD IN SAN JOSE CA) AND THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD NO TIME TO LOOK AT THE PROBLEM NOW AND TO MAKE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. I CALLED TO MAKE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT ON MARCH 28 2017. THE EARLIEST THEY COULD SEE THE CAR IS MAY 8 2017. DOES CALIFORNIA HAVE A LEMON LAW TO PROTECT CUSTOMERS THAT BUY FAULTY NEW AUTOMOBILES? I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVE TO LEAVE THE CAR SET FOR OVER A MONTH TO HAVE FORD SERVICE LOOK AT THE PROBLEM.
PURCHASED VEHICLE IN NOV OF 2016. IN FEB OF 2017 I RECEIVED A MESSAGE ON DASHBOARD THAT MY OIL PRESSURE WAS LOW. AFTER CHECKING OIL WE DISCOVERED IT WAS 3 QUARTS LOW. THOUGH MAYBE IT WAS NOT FILLED ALL THE WAY BY THE DEALER. ON MARCH 27TH WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE AGAIN THE OIL WAS 3 QTS LOW. ON MARCH 28TH THE DEALER CALLED TO SAY THAT THEY HAD A MEMO FROM FORD STATING SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE ENGINE AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ENGINE! (NOW THAT'S SCARRY) ALSO RECEIVED IN THE MAIL THAT THERE IS A COMPLIANCE RECALL CALL 17C02 FOR AIRBAGS. IN SPECIFIC THE DRIVERS AIRBAG. PARTS FOR THIS RECALL WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL LATE SECOND QUARTER 2017. I FEEL THIS VEHICLE IS A DISASTER, NOT SAFE, AFRAID TO DRIVE AND THAT FORD SHOULD JUST GIVE ME A NEW ONE!! VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH FORD. WE ARE FORD CAR BUYERS AND HAVE BEEN FOR AT LEAST 20 YRS.
THE ADAPTIVE STEERING WARNING LIGHT HAS CAME ON TWO TIMES IN TWO WEEKS. I HAVE LESS THEN 2500 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THIS CAME ON BOTH TIMES AS I WAS MAKING A TURN.
ISSUE: LATCH ON DRIVER'S DOOR BROKE. THE EVENTS DESCRIBED BELOW TOOK PLACE OVER A 3-DAY TIME FRAME (03/18/2017 - 03/20/2017). ON SAT., 03/18/2017, I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO A SHOPPING DESTINATION AND THE DRIVER'S DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. I HAD TO CLIMB OVER FRONT CONSOLE TO EXIT THE CAR VIA THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. TO DRIVE BACK HOME, I HAD TO ENTER THE VEHICLE VIA THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AND AGAIN CLIMB OVER THE FRONT CONSOLE. AFTER SEVERAL HOURS, THE DOOR WAS OPENED AND ALL WAS PRESUMED TO BE OK. HOWEVER, THE NEXT DAY (SUN., 03/19/2017), THE DRIVER'S DOOR FLEW OPEN WHILE THE CAR WAS EXITING THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 45 MPH. I PULLED OVER AND STRAINED TO PULL THE DOOR IN. HOWEVER, THE LATCH WOULD NOT CATCH AND CLOSE. WHILE MANEUVERING THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER DROVE HOME VERY SLOWLY PULLING IN AND HOLDING THE CAR DOOR. THE VEHICLE SAT UNSECURED OVERNIGHT UNTIL IT COULD BE TAKEN TO FOR REPAIR. THIS PROBLEM PRESENTED A HIGH LEVEL OF DANGER FOR ME, OTHER VEHICLES/DRIVERS/PASSENGERS, AND POSSIBLY PEDESTRIANS/PROPERTIES. THE AFFECTED VEHICLE HAS A LITTLE OVER 3,500 MILES LOGGED AND IS UNDER YEAR ONE OF A THREE YEAR LEASE. AS THIS REPORT IS BEING TYPED (MON., 03/20/2017), THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE LOCAL FORD DEALER IS ASSESSING THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE CO-OWNER HAS ALREADY BEEN INFORMED THAT PARTS AND LABOR COSTS TO FIX THE ISSUE ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY; WILL COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR; TAKE A WEEK TO COMPLETE; AND, A LOANER CAR IS NOT AVAILABLE. AFTER BEING LOYAL FORD CUSTOMERS FOR OVER 30 YEARS (PURCHASE/LEASE), THIS STINGS THE OWNER(S) ON MANY LEVELS.
MY FORD EDGE HAD A SUDDEN DECELERATION AND A DANGEROUS LOSS OF POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY CITY INTERSECTION CAUSING ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO COME TO A HALT. THE SUV IS NOW CAUSING A TRAFFIC JAM WITH MY FAMILY LOOKING AT ON COMING TRAFFIC. THANK GOODNESS WE DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT. RIGHT AFTER THAT EPISODE, THE TRANSMISSION JERKED SO HARD WE BOUNCED FORWARD AND BACKWARDS IN OUR SEATS. AGAIN, THE CAR HAD A LOSS OF POWER. SINCE THAT TIME, MY FORD EDGE EXPERIENCED TWO OTHER EPISODES. FORD MARKETED AND SOLD THIS VEHICLE AS NEW WITH A DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY CONTROL. HOW DO I KNOW THAT? WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO BOB TOMES FORD DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD THE THROTTLE BODY CONTROL HAD BEEN REPLACED AT 1000 MILES. THEY SOLD THE CAR AS A NEW VEHICLE OFF THE LOT WITHOUT REVEALING IT HAD BEEN DRIVEN AS A DEMO VEHICLE. WE BOUGHT THE CAR WITH 1800 MILES THINKING IT HAD BEEN ON THE LOT FOR LONG PERIOD OF TIME AND DRIVEN FROM ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. FORD OWES THE CONSUMER AN ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN ABOUT HE DANGERS OF SUDDEN UNINTENDED DECELERATION AND EDUCATE CONSUMERS ABOUT THEIR PRE-PURCHASE LEGAL RIGHTS ONCE FACTS ARE KNOWN. THOUSANDS OF OWNERS ARE IN DANGER BECAUSE FORD REFUSES TO ACT MORALLY AND CHOOSING PROFIT BEFORE RESPONSIBILITY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EDGE. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED THE STEERING WHEEL TO BECOME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. WHILE AT THE DEALER, THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE STEERING OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000.
WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT AN INTERSECTION THE PROXIMITY SENSORS GO OFF INADVERTENTLY FREQUENTLY WHEN THERE IS NO OBJECT THERE. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO FORD SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES ONLY TO BE TOLD EVERYTHING CHECKS OUT OKAY. THIS HAPPENS ON A DAILY BASIS AND IS VERY ANNOYING AND MAKES US NOT TRUST THE SENSORS SINCE THEY SENSE OBJECTS THAT ARE NOT VISIBLE. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN SLOWING DOWN FOR A STOP SIGN AT AN INTERSECTION OR STOP LIGHT. IT CAN GO OFF ON EITHER SIDE EVEN THROUGH NO OTHER VEHICLES OR OBJECTS ARE THERE. MY WIFE HAS RECORDED THIS ON HER PHONE TO SHOW THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT BUT SO FAR THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE IT. WHEN WE SHOWED THEM THE VIDEO THEY SAID THEY HAD ANOTHER PERSON RECORD A VIDEO OF THE SAME ISSUE ON ANOTHER FORD EDGE UNDER SLOWING OR COMING TO A STOP AT AN INTERSECTION. THIS REPORT WANTS A SPECIFIC DATE REPORTED WHEN THIS HAPPENED HOWEVER AS MENTIONED THIS HAPPENS ON A REGULAR BASIS AND HAS DONE SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM FORD COUNTRY IN HENDERSON, NV. WE HAVE TAKEN IT INTO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS TRYING TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM TAKEN CARE OF BOTH GAUDIN FORD IN LAS VEGAS,NV AND FORD COUNTRY WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN HENDERSON, NV
I BOUGHT MY EDGE BRAND NEW IN LATE JULY OF 2016 AND HAD NOT EXPERIENCED ANY PROBLEMS UP UNTIL MARCH OF 2017 (ONE MONTH AGO). WHEN THE "ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT. SERVICE REQUIRED!" LIGHT FIRST STARTED COMING ON, IT WAS GENERALLY JUST SECONDS AFTER STARTING MY CAR, BUT ALWAYS WHILE I WAS TURNING THE WHEEL. FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS, IT WAS COMING ON AN AVERAGE OF 2 TO 3 TIMES PER WEEK AND IT WOULD TURN OFF WITHIN FIVE OR SO MINUTES OF MY DRIVE. MY SERVICE LIGHT HAS COME ON EVERYDAY NOW FOR THE PAST FIVE DAYS WITHOUT EVEN HAVING TO TURN MY WHEEL. ONCE MY CAR IS STARTED - THE MESSAGE POPS UP. AND RATHER THAN TURNING OFF A FEW MINUTES OR MILES INTO MY DRIVE, IT REMAINS ON FOR THE ENTIRETY OF THE DRIVE. I CALLED TODAY IN HOPES OF GETTING IT SERVICED BUT UNFORTUNATELY CANNOT BE FIT IN FOR AN ENTIRE WEEK. I LEFT A VOICEMAIL WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER TO ENSURE THAT MY CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL THEN BUT HAVE NOT YET RECEIVED A CALL BACK. FINGERS CROSSED!

I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT AND THE ENGINE STALLED. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE
MY FORD EDGE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN AUGUST 2016. I AM STARTING TO RECEIVE THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE ON THE DASHBOARD INTERMITTENTLY, "ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED" (SOLID YELLOW WARNING). WARNING APPEARS AT VARIOUS TIMES, WHEN I FIRST START UP, WHILE I AM DRIVING AND ALSO JUST BEFORE I SHUT DOWN.
WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVE THIS MORNING, ADAPTIVE STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON . THIS IS A 2016 EDGE SPORT WITH 6600 MILES ON IT, PURCHASED IN JULY 2016.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOP RANDOMLY WHILE BEING USED OR WHEN TURNING THEM ON. MOVING THE LEVER UP AND DOWN ON THE STEERING WHEEL SOMETIMES GETS THEM WORKING AGAIN. OTHER TIMES THE CAR HAS TO BE TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED.
STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT IN 2016 FORD EDGE. WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN, ATTEMPTED TO MAKE LEFT TURN. VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND APPEARED TO STALL. TURNED VEHICLE OFF, RESTARTED AND AGAIN VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. WITH VEHICLE BARELY MOVING, WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF WAY OF THREE LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC BUT NOW STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. WHEN TRAFFIC CLEARED, WAS ABLE TO MAKE LEFT TURN AND CRAWLED AT ABOUT 2-3MPH WITH HAZARD LIGHTS ON. AT THIS TIME, WRENCH YELLOW WARNING LIGHT WAS DISPLAYED. DROVE AT THAT EXTREMELY SLOW SPEED UNTIL REACHED THE LEFT TURN LANE AT THE NEXT INTERSECTION WHERE COULD SAFELY PULL OVER AND PARK. TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO RESTART BUT CONTINUED TO RECEIVE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT. THAT WAS THEN REPLACED WITH A CHECK ENGINE YELLOW WARNING LIGHT. VEHICLE WOULD STILL NOT ACCELERATE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER. AN EEC TEST WAS RUN AND HAD CODE P2111. THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED WITH PART AT4Z-9E926-B. THIS WAS UNDER WARRANTY SINCE JUST 17,276 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. IT IS UNNERVING WHEN GAS PEDAL COULD BE PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND STILL BARELY MOVE. THIS INCIDENT WAS VERY SCARY AND FORTUNATE VEHICLE WAS NOT HIT AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES.

MY FORD EDGE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN JULY 2016 (BUILD DATE OF 5/16). IN STARTING UP THE VEHICLE ON JAN. 15 2017 WITH 6,302 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, THE "ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED" LIGHT CAME ON (SOLID YELLOW WARNING). THIS STAYED ON FOR ABOUT 15 MILES OF A 22 MILE TRIP, THEN WENT OUT. I PARKED THE CAR AT A VALET SERVICE. WHEN THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO ME LATER, I NOTICED THE "ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED" LIGHT WAS ON AGAIN, AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NOW TURNED 90 DEGREES TO THE RIGHT IN ORDER TO DRIVE STRAIGHT AHEAD (BLOCKING MY VIEW OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER). THIS SITUATION CONTINUED FOR THE ENTIRE 22 MILE TRIP BACK HOME. DURING THIS TIME, THE STEERING FELT NORMAL OTHER THAN FOR THE POSITION OF THE STEERING WHEEL (WHICH WAS AWKWARD TO SAY THE LEAST). THE WARNING LIGHT WENT OUT THE NEXT MORNING AND THE STEERING WHEEL RETURNED TO IT'S PROPERLY ALIGNED POSITION! THE WARNING LIGHT CAME BACK ON THE NEXT MORNING, BUT SO FAR THE STEERING WHEEL HAS NOT CHANGED FROM IT'S PROPER POSITION.
VEHICLE HAS 4,800 MILES. WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE LOST ENGINE POWER AND POWER STEERING. ORANGE WRENCH ICON APPEARS ON DASH - CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO COME ON. THE VEHICLE WILL THEN ONLY TRAVEL <5 MPH. SHUTTING CAR OFF AND RESTARTING A FEW TIMES AND VEHICLE IS FINE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF AFTER ABOUT 15 MILES OF DRIVING. PROBLEM OCCURRED 3 TIMES. COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS IF IT OCCURRED ON A LEFT TURN. DEALER REPLACED THROTTLE BODY IN RESPONSE. *TR

WE HAVE A 2016 EDGE AND SHORTLY AFTER DRIVING WE OPENED THE VISTA ROOF NOTICED A A LONG CRACK THAT RAN COMPLETELY FROM ONE SIDE OF THE MOVABLE WINDOW TO THE OTHER. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A STONE CHIP BUT HAVING LOOKED AT BLUE OVAL.COM I SEE THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ADDRESSED BY FORD AND ALSO IGNORED. The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start up after several attempts after refueling. Once the vehicle was started, the vehicle sometimes hesitated and occasionally stalled while driving at various speeds. The contact stated that the failure persisted and intermittently stalled during normal driving with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that Evaporative Emission Control System (EVAP) solenoid valve was defective. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the contact a case number. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA Hotline for additional assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
I WAS DRIVING HOME CHRISTMAS NIGHT AFTER SPENDING THE WEEKEND WITH FAMILY, IT WAS RAINING HARD AND WINDY (20-30MPH GUSTS). WHILE DRIVING WITH MY WIPERS ON AT 70MPH ON INTERSTATE 35 SOUTH JUST NORTH OF ALBERT LEA MINNESOTA MY WIPER BLADES STARTED TO GET CAUGHT IN THE WIND, I HEARD A SLAPPING NOISE A FEW TIMES AND THEN ALL THE SUDDEN AS THE WIPERS WENT TO WIPE THE PASSENGER SIDE BLADE WAS LIFTED BY THE WIND AND WAS DROPPED ON TOP OF THE OTHER BLADE. THE LATCH THAT HOLDS THE BLADE ON TO THE DRIVER SIDE WIPER WAS BLOCKING THE PASSENGER SIDE BLADE AND CAUSED THE WIPERS TO BECOME NON FUNCTIONAL. AT THIS POINT I WAS GETTING VERY NERVOUS BECAUSE VISIBILITY RAPIDLY DIMINISHED BECAUSE I COULD NO LONGER USE MY WIPERS. I TRIED TURNING THEM ON TO HIGH AND LOW AND THEY WOULD NOT WORK. THE WIPERS DID TRY TO "FIX" THEM SELVES BY PULSING A FEW TIMES BUT ONLY IN THE DOWN DIRECTION, HAD THEY TRIED TO GO IN THE UPRIGHT DIRECTION I THINK THEY COULD HAVE FIXED THEM SELVES. AT THIS POINT I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO PULL OVER IN THE COLD AND RAIN TO MANUALLY MOVE THE WIPER ARMS INTO A POSITION WERE THEY COULD WORK NORMALLY, MIND YOU I WAS GOING 70MPH AND WAS NOT ABLE TO SEE VERY WELL TO EVEN PULL OVER. ON AN UNRELATED NOTE, THE HEADLIGHTS IN THIS VEHICLE ESPECIALLY WHEN THE ROADS ARE WET ARE THE ABSOLUTE WORSE HEADLIGHTS I HAVE EVER USED. NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR A BRAND NEW CAR. *TR

LATER THAT SAME DAY, THE MESSAGE DID NOT APPEAR ON THE DRIVER DISPLAY. HOWEVER, ON OCTOBER 26, 2016, WE RECEIVED THE SAME MESSAGE: 'ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED.' WE WENT TO A LOCAL FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT (IN CONCORD, CA) AND THEY PERFORMED ELECTRICAL TESTING FOR STEERING WARNING MESSAGES. THEIR TEST APPEARED TO BE INCONCLUSIVE AND THEY CLEARED ALL CODES AND ROAD TESTED THE VEHICLE AND IT APPEARED TO PASS INSPECTION. HOWEVER, JUST TODAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2016, WE RECEIVED THE SAME MESSAGE AGAIN: 'ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED.' WE IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT SO THEY COULD SEE THE ERROR MESSAGE AND THEY DID NOT HAVE ANSWERS, EVEN AFTER PULLING THE CODES. I THOUGHT THE CAR HAD DIED, BUT AFTER A RESTART, IT SEEMED TO DRIVE OK AND I PUT IT UP TO A ONE TIME COMPUTER GLITCH. I WAS 70 MILES FROM HOME. I ALMOST FORGOT IT HAPPENED BUT AFTER RETURNING FROM A LONG TRIP, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WENT TO THE FORUM AND SAW OTHERS HAD THE SAME ISSUE. AND THEY MENTIONED THAT IT SOMETIMES EFFECTED THE STEERING ITSELF. SURE ENOUGH, THE NEXT DAY, THE WHEEL TURNED 90 DEGREES TO LEFT. I WAS STOPPED AT THE TIME. THE CAR WAS DRIVEABLE BUT WENT STRAIGHT WITH THE WHEEL TURNED 90 DEGREES TO THE LEFT. VERY DISCONCERTING, TO SAY THE LEAST. THE WARNING LIGHT WAS BACK ON, OF COURSE. I HAD TO GET INTO TWON SO PROCEEDED CAREFULLY. I FILLED THE TANK, AND AFTER THE RESTART, THE WHEEL STRAIGHTENED OUT AND WARNING LIGHT WENT OFF. THE WHEEL TURNING HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE, BUT THE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AT LEAST TWICE PER DAY RANDOMLY. I AM REPORTING THIS AS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE ADAPTIVE STEERING. THE DRIVING LIGHTS ILLUMINATE THE ROADS POORLY AND I'VE HAD THEM ADJUSTED TWICE IN ORDER TO IMPROVE NIGHT DRIVING VISIBILITY. ALSO, THE DRIVER'S DOOR DOESN'T LATCH RELIABLY AND I'VE HAD IT ADJUST ED TWICE AND NOW THE DOOR WHISTLES. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT SIGNALS THE DOOR ISN'T PROPERLY SHUT. THERE IS POOR COORDINATION BETWEEN THE KEYLESS FOB AND THE DOOR UNLOCKING BOTH OF THESE PROBLEMS ARE ONGOING.

A WEEK OR SO LATER, I TOOK IT BACK TO NORM REEVES FORD AND THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR 13 DAYS TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T "REPLICATE" THE PROBLEM. NOW, A MONTH LATER, THE LIGHT STAYS ON. I HAVE READ ON THE "FORD EDGE FORUM" BLOG THAT OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. SOME ARE SAYING THAT THEIR VEHICLES HAVE BEEN IN THE SHOP OVER A MONTH AND FORD SEEMS UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. PULLED AND RELEASED FUEL LINE CONNECTION, REASSEMBLED CONNECTION, PRESSED THE GREEN LOCKING TAB AND PULLED CONNECTION TO ENSURE IT WAS SECURE. UPON RETURN HOME 28 JULY 2016 DEALER SERVICE TECHNICIAN INSPECTED FUEL LINE CONNECTIONS, FOUND THEM SECURE, ADDED TIE WRAPS TO BOTH FUEL LINE CONNECTIONS TO PREVENT GREEN LOCKING TAB FROM DISENGAGING UNLESS TIE WRAPS ARE REMOVED. 29 JULY 2016 CALL TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE STATED THIS WAS A NON-ISSUE SINCE SERVICE RETURNED VEHICLE TO USER.
VEHICLE HAS REPEATED DELAYS WHEN PRESSING ACCELERATOR PETAL FOLLOWED BY SUDDEN BURSTS OF POWER. WHILE CHANGING LANES ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY THERE WAS NO RESPONSE IN ACCELERATION AND POWER WAS LOST. RAPID, AGGRESSIVE PETAL PRESSURE RESTORED POWER AFTER 10-14 SECONDS. CRASH NARROWLY AVERTED.
