I have a warranty with Jones Junction Kia. I couldn't take my truck anywhere else. The engine light kept coming on and going off. Well I got all the maintenance as needed however. I was told that when any Ford reaches almost 100000 miles that it's a defect that coolant leaks into the engine. Well I never heard such. Come to fine out? The adjusters had to tell the mechanics what was wrong because they couldn't understand what was happening with my truck. The adjusters said my engine needed to be replace because of several other Fords are habi g this same issue. They also repaired my brakes. Jones Kia twice within a 2 month span. And the brake light came on and stayed on. If you need more details ols contact me.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact smelled a sweet-smelling odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. The contact checked the engine and became aware that the coolant reservoir was almost empty. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, and it was determined that there was coolant intrusion into the engine block. The spark plugs were replaced; however, the coolant intrusion into the engine persisted. The contact stated that the vehicle became difficult to start. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with coolant intrusion into cylinder #3, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.
My engine is leaking coolant into the oil and causing a cylinder misfire and smoke coming from the exhaust. Need full engine replacement on the 4 cylinder ecoboost.
The flexplate failed and the vehicle was not drivable. We were told if this had happened while on the road it would have stalled the vehicle and could have caused an accident. This is an issue that Ford is well aware of but only goes half way in trying to fix. Ford will cover the cost to replace the flexplate but only if it has failed and the vehicle is under 100k miles. If the vehicle is over that but under 120k they will cover 50% of the cost. We received a notice and had the vehicle inspected, at the time it was under 100k miles and they found no issue with it. Now it's just over 121K and the flexplate fails. We were told even if it's one mile over 120k miles they are not responsible for it. Now we have learned the failed flexplate has damaged the torque convertor and the transmission fluid pump and those will also have to be replaced. If the flexplate is not replaced just as Ford recommends it can fail again sooner than later. This seems a serious engineering and safety flaw, especially on a vehicle that is not even 7 years old.
Well, the car check engine light started flashing and my entire car started shaking, my coolant levels went from in between the max and min line to super below the minimum line, from what I've gathered there has been a major issue with your engine manufacturing for Ford Edges in 2015-2018 where the head gasket was not designed or manufactured correctly, thereby allowing coolant to leak out damaging the engine. it seems that several people have been running into this issue and nothing has been done about it, and your dealerships are charging to have the long block or flat out the entire engine replaced having customers pay out of their own pocket to fix a known issue your cars have been having for years when, having the issue leading to the car effectively being totaled should be repaired and covered by Ford via a recall due to the gravity of the issue itself, and the issue being caused from the manufacturer themselves. I've taken my car to several mechanics, and they all said the same thing about this problem with coolant getting into the cylinders and make the car completely useless. I had a cylinder 4 misfire at the beginning of this year and assumed it was the spark plugs so I replaced them all, and then the check engine light came on again and it said the same problem, so I took I into a mechanic and they told me about the coolant problem in June, and that it could be an issue I deal with and that they had seen that alot. But my car has been flashing for the last couple days I believe on August 20th.
Dealership Diag. and found coolant leaking/ intrusion going into #1, cylinder, causing low coolant light to come on in the car, and the car smoke on first start up. Dealership found, this car to have one of the defective ford eco boost motors installed, Dealership recommend new motor, at cost of $7,721.33. When purchased, I bought and paid for the ESP warranty to the cost of $3,281.00 dollars. Technicians stated, FORD is not going to cover the replacements nor any cost. The defective motors, causing the coolant to leak into the motor, subjecting us to more damages and fire. Coolant mixing with the oil. Issues would be for me, the defective motor and cooling system.
Coolant leak, confirmed by service tech (p0036, p0217,p0301, p0316) need to replace head gasket, coolant in combustion chamber, warning message engine overheating will reduce power.
Coolant leaking into cylinder head
Coolant intrusion
I have a 2016 ford edge sport I bought from a ford dealer and I now have adaptive steering fault code that has popped up and now the steering wheel is turned 90 degrees to the left and the suv steering is not working correctly and is very dangerous to drive I called the dealership and was told I have to pay for them to look at and to fix it the is a major safty issue as it's not safe to drive and this suv had the airbag recall fixed and I have seen others have the same issue I am having now and it has to do with faulty parts in the steering wheel again is a major safety issue.
I own a 2016 Ford Edge SEL AWD Ecoboost with all of the symptoms of the TSB that Ford released on June 9, 2022 (2.0L EcoBoost - Coolant In Cylinders, White Exhaust Smoke And/Or Illuminated MIL). I brought it for service at Palm Springs Ford in September and received a very large estimate (approx $13,000) to replace the engine, motor and transmission mounts, etc. This is not something that I had expected nor can afford at this time. I see no recall available for this issue. The vehicle is seven (7) years old with 75,932.4 miles and I cannot imagine that coolant leaks and engine failures are a normal feature for a car of this age and with this mileage. I planned to drive this car for several more years and I am disappointed in Ford’s lack of quality control/assurance.
On, or around, August 10th, I was driving my 2016 Ford Edge on the freeway, when my car started to stutter. I was not sure if the car would stall in rush hour traffic. The check engine light came on. After that, the car was difficult to start and ran roughly for several minutes. I also noticed that the car had started to use a lot of anti-freeze/coolant. I had the car diagnosed by an independent mechanic and found that the coolant was leaking into an engine cylinder. After researching the matter, it appears that this is a fairly common occurrence with the Ford Edge. There have been recalls for this problem, but my vin number is not one listed on the recall, although it is in the same year and the same problem. I am seeking help in getting this manufacturing failure resolved. I am not currently driving the vehicle, at the problem was getting worse. The vehicle is available for inspection.
started engine and running rough, engine light came on
Coolant leak into engine, causing substantial issues.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the engine ran slowly, and then ran as intended. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that there was coolant intrusion in the engine cylinder, and that the long block, the drive belt idler, the 2 ball joints pinch bolts, 4 Turbo starts, two coolants, 6 ignition coils, the tread locker, the thermostat gasket, the flex plate, the coolant outlet O-Ring, and 4 intake manifold gaskets needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that the spark plugs needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to an independent mechanic, who determined that coolant intrusion had damaged the engine, requiring an engine replacement. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, who confirmed the diagnosis in relation to Technical Service Bulletin: 22-2229. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but declined to cover the repair under warranty. The failure mileage was 90,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that he used a code reader to diagnose the vehicle and retrieved code: P0304. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined that coolant had leaked into cylinder #4, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced TSB: 22-2229 and the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the TSB did not include his VIN, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.
I'm experiencing rough engine idle at stop lights or parked, in in gear (under load). At engine start, I am experiencing white smoke from exhaust, some engine mis-fires and low coolant. I started to look up similar experiences and it seems that it is a know issue by Ford, in which coolant is leaking into engine. I have engine power latency from full stop, low fuel economy and steady engine clicking noise/rattle.
check engine light came on, when assessed I was told it was a cylinder 3 misfire. Car began overheating while driving down the highway. Took it to a shop who performed block test > found combustion gases in cooling system caused by blown head gasket > replaced head gasket, timing chains & sprockets. After head gasket was replaced there was white smoke & misfire at cold start up - (been this almost ever since we replaced the head gasket). Shop then tested cooling system for combustion gases > found head gasket leaking due to cracking block at gasket surface > replaced complete engine assembly.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle overheated. Additionally, the contact stated that the temperature gauge was reading hot. The vehicle was veered to the side of the road until the vehicle cooled down, and the vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed and determined that the head gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 133,000.
There is a continuous cylinder 1 misfire and rough idle at start. Have replaced spark plugs, replaced valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals and coolant continue to drain quickly with cylinder 1 misfire check engine light popping up every week.
My check engine light came on as my car started rough and white smoke was coming out of the engine and tailpipes. I immediately shut the car off and had it towed to Dahl Ford. I got a call later that morning that I needed an entire new engine due to a defective coolant design that caused the coolant to leak down on the engine and could start the engine on fire. I have 65,000 miles on this vehicle and have had all service completed by Dahl Ford which has only been oil changes. Dahl Ford had me call Ford Motor in Detroit because they have had so many engines with this coolant defective designed engine that can start a fire in the engine. They said Ford put out a TSB #22-2229 in June 2022 but has not done a recall and told me to report this to NHTSA. New engine replacement cost $6800.00 which I had to replace.
We were notified that our engine was leaking coolant into it’s cylinder with the only caused listed as a ford bulletin saying that these engines experience and need to be replaced. With the threat of the engine over heating, I feel that this design malfunction is not something I am directly responsible for. I have maintained this car exceptionally well.
due to a design flaw coolant could get into piston cylinders. this caused those cylinders to misfire and the engine to run rough and not have the power that it should have. we had to replace the engine at our cost, $7000.00
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was running unusually rough with white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. The contact stated that when he started the vehicle the engine sounded rough. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was diagnosed with coolant leak in the cylinders. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.
I own a 2016 Ford Edge Titanium eco-boost. Needless to say I paid a pretty penny for it. I have had it to the Ford Dealer 3 times for recalls. There is only 68,500 miles on it. Took it in to a quick lube to get an oil change they checked the transmission fluid and said it was black and needed to be changed. (no extended warranty, it was way to expensive). I called my local mechanic to make sure that was all it needed. He isn't equiped to check the transmission. Told me to contact Ford. Ford service told me it would be $140.00 just to look at it and then what ever it costs for repairs after the diagnostic. I don't understand why the transmission fluid is black and why with so few miles on it the trans is screwed up. And Ford makes sure you have to take it back to them to get it repaired and charge an outrageous amount. Symptoms are:. It won't accelerate, doesn't shift into gear, slips out of gear. I feel this a manufacture default and Ford should take care of it.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated intermittently. The contact stated that while refueling, the accelerator pedal had to be slightly depressed to prevent the vehicle from stalling. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that ignition coil #3 had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that after the repair, the vehicle would emit excessive exhaust fumes when accelerating and while starting the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was choking and hesitating while starting the vehicle. Additionally, coolant had to be added every other day. The contact stated that the check engine warning light remained illuminated. The contact became aware of Technical Service Bulletin: 22-2134, NHTSA ID Number: 10210392 (Engine and Engine Cooling, Equipment). The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that due to the failure being persistent, the short block needed to be replaced. The dealer confirmed that the VIN was not included in TSB. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer had referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 14,500.
I have a 2016 Ford Edge. Bought my car 2018. I Have never used the back seat driver side seat belt only a few times. When I switched my daughter out of her car seat(who was born the year I got my car) I had no need for the seat belt. Until now when I switched her to her booster seat. Now the seat belt lap strap is locked and not able to come out. There for I can't use that seat at all. And have to put her in the middle. My son is too tall to sit in the middle seat. But too young to sit in the front. I took my car into the dealership and called a different dealership and they said the seat belt may be an aftermarket. They had never seen one that has the airbags in them. So we need to order you just a normal seat belt, and it's on back order. So now I have to wait [XXX] only knows how long. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not under any recall and that the vehicle was out of warranty and advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 77,000.
Engine overheating due to coolant leaking due to head gasket failure. Ford has technical service bulletin #19-2208 that recommends replacing long block. Milage at 103,000.
The vehicle started to make a low rattling noise that grew louder each time the vehicle was idling. We now believe the flexplate is cracked. Ford has sent out a letter stating they are aware the flexplate may crack but they are not willing to cover repairs on the vehicle after a certain time period, which has already passed. They state in the letter to not bring vehicles in unless they are making a rattling noise.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated while the vehicle was idling, he heard an abnormal sound coming from the engine. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 129,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. Additionally, the engine overheated, and coolant was leaking from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the coolant was present inside the cylinders. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 90,000.
Noticed engine misfire. Brought to local ford dealership. After diagnosis noticed coolant intrusion into cylinders. Ford recommended complete engine replacement
Car has a little over 100,000 miles 2017 Ford edge. Engine light came on, took to a Ford dealership where we were informed that coolant was leaking into the cylinders and would need to replace the whole engine. From researching this issue I have discovered that this seems to be a big problem with not just my car but others as well and ones with less miles and yet Ford will not pay for replacement or issue a recall on this issue. The car is sitting at the dealership now as we think about what should be done next.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that while accelerating while making a left or right turn, the brake pedal was depressed, and the contact heard liquid rotating coming from the hood of the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that while shifted into reverse(R), the vehicle started to shudder. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that coolant had leaked into cylinder #2. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided information for TSB Number: 22-2133 to repair the vehicle. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.
This happened in late June when I started my car it had white smoke coming out of the exhaust which cleared and no warning light on. I drove it to work and back and we checked coolant, and it was low so added and the next time I drove it, the check engine light went on! I called the Ford Dealership near me which is about an hour away and made an appointment to take on July 14th. The diagnosis was coolant leaking into my second cylinder and the block where head sits is worn down. I need a new long block, engine! $6000 was the quote!!!! My car is a 2016 Ford Edge with 75725 miles on it! I called Ford Customer Service and this car is not eligible for Financial Assistance and I have not heard from the Corporate Office! I have seen complaints of exactly the same thing and some people are getting Ford to help with the bill and not sure how they decipher what vehicle does or does not qualify! I am working on this issue and will not settle for nothing! I have never experienced anything like this, this is terrible! Who can afford this at this time in our lives and why???? It is a Ford issue not the consumer!!!! They have known about this for quite some time and the block on my car being worn is a manufacturing defect, it happened in the casting of the block, that car should have never left the plant with the correct inspection, where were the inspectors on this?? Ford used to give their dealerships a budget to help out issues like this for their customers but that has ended so nothing the dealership can do but fix your car and you pay the bill and good luck after that! As a Ford customer I have been taken advantage of, my safety was put in jeopardy and there is no loyalty at all to the customer!!! Not good for them! This car should have a recall on it and they should foot my bill and every other person who has experienced this and there are a lot of us!!!!! Ford should take responsibility for their poor actions!
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact called and made the local dealer aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that there was coolant leaking into cylinder #3 and the long block needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 101,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact used a DTC reader and determined that the cause of the failure was a defective crank shaft, cam shaft, and oxygen sensors. Despite the repairs made to vehicle, the check engine light remained. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where he was informed that coolant had leaked into cylinder #1. The contact was advised to stop driving the vehicle and contacted the dealer. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not under recall and a diagnostic test was performed. The dealer confirmed the failure and informed the contact that the engine block needed to be repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
While during my 2016 ford edge to my daughters house, started going up a hill and as I was attempting to accelerate my speed kept reducing. When I returned home my husband took my car to an independent mechanic who ran diagnostic test which showed cylinder 2 misfiring. Upon further inspection coolant level was low but no leaks were noted. Mechanic stated water pump needed to be replaced to prevent further possible damage to engine. Called local ford dealer to see if they could confirm diagnosis, we were told to diagnose they would charge 165. Unfortunately on a fixed income and cannot afford! After researching this problem online it appears this is a common issue with 2016 ford edge and while there was a recall issue on some 2016 ford automobiles with the same issues, ours is not included!? I believe this should be recalled as it appears this was a known issue with ford cars, especially the Ecoboost, which is what we have
Coolant leak to inside the piston engine
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was notified of coolant intrusion into cylinder #2. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and covered a portion of the cost of the engine replacement. The failure mileage was approximately 79,791.
My 2016 Ford Edge with a 2.0L engine has a crack in the upper compartment of #1 cylinder. This is allowing coolant intrusion in to the cylinder causing a misfire. Ford has issued a service bulletin for the issue 22-2229. My vehicle has 89615 miles on it, and has been properly maintained over the years. This seems like from a quick google search is a wide spread problem with these vehicles. Will there be a recall or some type of relief from the cost of this repair?
Coolant is leaking into the engine cylinders and now the engine does not run.
In 2016, I purchased a new Ford Edge. In June 2023, I'm informed by Ford Certified Personnel that the engine has a "Coolant Inclusion" issue requiring replacement with a new engine. This problem caused by a design flaw in the engine that Ford was aware of in 2009 and continued to install without repair or recall. Research information shows it can cause overheating and possible vehicle fire. My service records can be verified with Brinson Ford, Athens TX. [XXX], Service Advisor. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Rear door latch stuck and door will not close
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the engine misfired with white exhaust smoke and the vehicle hesitated while accelerating. The contact discovered that the engine coolant reservoir was empty. The contact replaced the spark plugs and coil packs for cylinders #2 and #3 however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed and repaired. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered under a TSB for the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.
My vehicle says parking brake limited function and it won't move.
My car has 66,000 miles on it. It was bought on 9-10-2016 brand new. On 5/21/23 my car would not start. I had it towed to my mechanic who diagnosed coolant intrusion in cylinder 2. I had it towed to the dealer after Ford confirmed it would be covered under TSB 19-2346 on 5-26-23. This Tsb-19-2346 affects thousands of cars, with the early ecoboost engines. The cars are suddenly catching on fire or seizing while being driven!!!! I had it towed to Ford who told me the Transmission was bad and it would be covered under Ford's #22N12 bulletin on 5-30-23. I was shocked the transmission was also bad! I than asked the dealer what about the motor? It's seized as I told you 4 days earlier due to coolant intrusion? The mechanic will check that also, I will call Ford again, re the motor. 2 days later, after I called the dealer, he verified the cylinder intrusion in #2. He informed me that it would not be covered! Now their giving me the run around re tsb 19-2346 bulletin. Which never was sent to any of the owners, of these dangerous cars! The Dealer is putting together a parts list, the cost is around 7,000! My car has been serviced at the recommended schedule. Ford's quality has gone from safe, to dangerous, unreliable and defective! I found both Tsb on the engine and transmission online. Along with hundreds of thousands of other affected consumers! This is unacceptable & unexcusable! Safety 1st is apparently now LAST With FORD!!! I will never buy another FORD! Ford knows about the ecoboost engines suddenly, starting on fire or seizing while being driven and is doing nothing about, these DANGEROUS CARS!!!
Took vehicle in for update of SYNC system which worked when I dropped it off. Mechanic called said the system wasn't holding charge. Next day they called said vehicle was ready for pickup. Picked up got in and my SYNC system wouldn't turn on. That includes radio,Bluetooth, navigation, backup camera,USB port anything that system controls doesn't work. No mechanic checks for the APIM to see if it is faulty. Now place is saying I have to pay to fix. Extended warranty doesn't cover says it's upgrade not update, even though Fordpass and SYNC system said there was an update for it. I tried to update system and wouldn't let me, both ways I tried to update. Fordpass tried something then said I'd have to take to certified dealer which I did.if nobody checks on the part when it's inspected, how does one know if bad part or not. Plus my 2016 vehicle when looking in SYNC system said last update was in 2003? Picture is showing SYNC system was working also have 5-7 people who can say was working til I brought to place for update. Can provide video and or pictures of my dark screen if needed. Date of incident is when I brought it in for update. Got vehicle back on the 17th the first time, partner brought in again for them to try something that didn't work to reset system.
