My camera intermittently goes blank and car feel like it doesn’t stop properly today I was backing out of a driveway and camera went blank and caused me to back into a car that had pulled up I called my local ford after I got the letters but they said I would receive a letter when they get the parts in !!
PLEASE SEE ATTACHED LETTER This complaint is being submitted due to gross negligence in recall communication and manufacturer accountability. This failure in vehicle safety oversight that has already resulted in emotional and financial harm. In September of this year, I submitted an application for a buy-back option to Ford but was denied. This application/request was assigned a case number by Ford: cxh05566445w6s6x2 My vehicle has four unresolved safety recalls, two of which directly caused two accident that could—and should—have been prevented had I been notified of the known safety risks. I did not receive recall notices until after both of the accidents occurred, which demonstrates a systemic failure by the manufacturer, Ford. This negligence is not only irresponsible—it violates basic safety obligations to consumers and the public. I request immediate action from NHTSA to investigate this matter and enforce compliance. A description of the incidents and associated recalls that have incurred are described on the following page. Additionally, just last week while driving on a rural road, my vehicle’s transmission unexpectedly shifted from standard Drive into Sport mode (“S”) on its own without any input from me. This sudden and uncommanded gear change created a dangerous driving situation, and I strongly believe this may be another serious safety defect that has yet to be acknowledged or recalled by the manufacturer. 1. NHTSA Recall Number: 25V572 Recall Date: September 8, 2025 Manufacturer Recall Number: 25S89 Incident Date: January 2025 Incident Description: In January 2025, while backing out of my driveway, the rear-view camera suddenly displayed a distorted image and failed to detect a large tree directly behind my vehicle, causing me to reverse into it. This was not a minor inconvenience—this safety failure could have resulted in serious injury or worse had a child, pedestrian, or another vehicle been behind me at the time. I often have my children and neighborhood kids near my driveway, and I relied on Ford’s safety systems to operate as designed. Instead, the defect caused property damage and has now rendered the rear safety system completely unreliable. The rear camera now constantly beeps as if something is behind the vehicle even when nothing is there, meaning I no longer have any way to know when a real hazard is present—creating an ongoing and dangerous safety risk. Ford did not issue a recall for this exact failure until nine months after I experienced it and suffered damage. Recall Summary and Safety Risk: THE REAR-VIEW CAMERA COULD DISPLAY A BLANK OR DISTORTED IMAGE ON THE CENTER DISPLAY SCREEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN REVERSE. A REAR-VIEW CAMERA THAT DISPLAYS A BLANK OR DISTORTED IMAGE WHILE IN REVERSE CAN REDUCE OR DISTORT THE DRIVERS VIEW OF WHAT IS BEHIND THE VEHICLE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. 2. NHTSA Recall Number: 25V544 Recall Date: August 25, 2025 Manufacturer Recall Number: 25S87 Incident Date: May 2, 2025 Incident Description: On May 2, 2025, while driving with my children in the car, the brakes suddenly failed without warning, leaving me unable to stop as we approached traffic ahead. To avoid a collision that could have seriously injured or killed us or other motorists, I was forced to veer off the roadway, scraping and damaging the side of my vehicle in the process. This was a terrifying and traumatic experience, especially with my children in the vehicle—we could have been hit head-on or rear-ended at full speed due to this critical brake failure. I immediately drove the car, as carefully as possible, to the nearest repair shop, where I was informed that the brake hose line had ruptured and was leaking. I had no choice but to pay out of pocket for the brake repair just to make the vehicle drivable again. However, like the previous incident, I am still unable to afford repairs to the body damage caused by this safety failure. It is unacceptable that a known safety defect—one capable of causi
When I am putting my vehicle in reverse the camera at times has blacked out froze or even turned a weird color with lines on the screen I know there was recall for this but my vin was not included
My vehicle has a dash light warning for service that says "Limited Park Brake Function, Service Vehicle" and then applies my parking break on its own. I have at times be unable to get the parking brake to release and will have to start and stop my vehicle numerous times before it will accept me releasing the parking brake.
My car loses power when I press the gas. For example, I can come to a stop, wait until it’s safe to turn in front of another car, then try to take off — but the vehicle suddenly loses all power. It won’t accelerate, and I have to keep pressing the gas and hope it goes. Sometimes I have to pull over, put it in park, turn the car off, and restart it before it will drive again. This also happens on the freeway. When this issue happens, the car also shifts very hard afterward, causing it to jump forward. This makes the vehicle extremely unsafe — especially when I am trying to turn in front of cars moving at high speed and my car suddenly loses all power. I have taken the vehicle in five times for the same issue, but the Ford dealership has not been able to repair it. I have also called Ford’s corporate office, but they said they cannot help. I opened a case with the BBB as well, and they advised me to open a case with you. At this point, I am at a complete loss with this issue. I travel with my two kids in the car, and I am honestly afraid to drive it — but I have no other vehicle.
2017 FORD EDGE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO FRONT BRAKE FLEXIBLE HOSE LEAK SAFETY RECALL. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAD 2 RECALLS NEEDING TO BE COMPLETED. DUE TO A WAITING LIST, THE DEALER REQUIRED THE VEHICLE TO SIT IN THE PARKING LOT FOR 3-4 DAYS BEFORE BEING REPAIRED. THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO BE WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR THAT AMOUNT OF TIME. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED ASSISTANCE HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED SOONER.
I am told my APIM module needs to be replaced. My touch screen will go black and then come back on. I am unable to use handsfree phone due to system not staying connected to my bluetooth. The radio will not turn off or on and sometimes will come on and be blaring while driving. The GPS does not work at all and if it decides to even show up on the screen will not follow streets at all. The warning sounds and lights will go off randomly while driving even if I am not close to something on the sides of my car. My backup cameras do not work all the time. The cruise control will not keep distance and will stop working randomly. The entire touch screen will not respond to any touch. These items are very distracting and unsafe at best. There has been no accidents to cause these problems. The manufacturer has not been able to help me locate any replacement parts despite pre-paying for the expensive module. I have been waiting 6 weeks without anyone being able to tell me when a module is expected. Meanwhile I do not know what else will stop working on my car. Ford has had a history of problems with the APIM modules and there was even a class action suit that was won by the consumer for the same thing in Lincoln vehicles. I just want the part and for my car to be fixed.

CAR BATTERY IS DEAD; FIFTH TIME IN 3.7 YEARS. THIS CAN HAPPEN AFTER SITTING A FEW DAYS OR JUST OVERNIGHT. AFTER BEING CHARGED BY AAA, IT APPEARS TO BE FINE AND THE DEALER SERVICE DEPT CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG ON THEIR DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. BATTER WAS REPLACED AFTER THE 4TH TIME, BUT THE CAR DIED AGAIN 1.5 YEARS LATER. DEALER TRIED TO FIX BY REPLACING A SHIFT SELECTOR SWITCH (TWICE) BUT THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM.
FRONT BRAKE LINES DAMAGE AND NOW THE BACK BRAKE LINES DAMAGE THE SAME WAY FRONT WAS.NO NO INDICATOR THAT' THIS HAPPENS, THE BREAKS JUST GO TO THE FLOOR, HUGE SAFETY ISSUES.
ALERTS THAT ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE IS TOO HIGH. MAKES SMOKE COME FROM THE HOOD. COUNTLESS BOTTLES OF ANTIFREEZE JUST RUN THROUGH IT. IT CAUSES THE WHOLE CAR TO JUST SHUT OFF FROM THE HEAT WHILE IN MOTION.
I HAVE HAD MY CAR IN THE SHOP FOR 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WITH THE CAR HAVING NO POWER THAT SOMETHING IS DRAINING THE BATTERY. ALSO THE BACK BRAKE LIGHT HAS MOISTURE AND IS GETTING WORSE. THE 3 TIMES THAT MY CAR LOST ALL POWER WAS WHILE IT WAS PARKED, IT WAS COLD OUTSIDE AND RAINY.

I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW WITH 10 MILES DRIVEN ONLY 14 MONTHS AGO. AT 3100 MILES IT LOST ALL ELECTRIC/ELECTRONIC/ENGINE POWER AS I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES ON A CITY STREET WITH TRAFFIC! THE ENGINE LIGHT, SERVICE WRENCH LIGHT AND DINGING SOUNDS FLASHED; THE VEHICLE DECREASED IN SPEED, AND SHUT DOWN, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STEER. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO COAST OFF THE STREET INTO AN OPEN DRIVEWAY PRIOR TO ITS COMPLETE STOP OF THE VEHICLE FROM LOSS OF ALL POWER! THEN THERE WERE ABSOLUTELY NO POWER; IGNITION WOULD NOT START; NO LIGHTS, NO POWER OF ANY KIND. AFTER CALLING FORD SERVICE HOTLINE, AND ABOUT 2.5 HOURS WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK IN THE HOT HEAT, I TRIED THE IGNITION - THE POWER WAS BACK. NEVERTHELESS, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED. THE NEXT DAY THEIR DIAGNOSTICS AND TWO TEST DRIVES 'FOUND NO PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE'. I INFORMED THE SERVICE MANAGER AT WYATT JOHNSON FORD, JUST BECAUSE THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM, DOESN'T NEGATE THE FACT THAT SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE TO STOP ABRUPTLY AS IT DID; LIKE A COMPUTER SHUTTING DOWN COMPLETELY. I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE KNOWING THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN WITH DIRE CONSEQUENCES AND WANT TO REPORT THIS HAZARDOUS PROBLEM TO INFORM THE PUBLIC ACCORDINGLY! THERE ARE NO PICTURES TO ACCOMPANY THIS COMPLAINT. I AWAIT SOME INFORMATION ON THIS VEHICLE. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO SHARED SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH FORD, NISSAN AND OTHER VEHICLES. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT WILL BE DONE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM FURTHER. THANK YOU. *TR
UPON RETURNING FROM AN 8 DAY ABSENCE, I WENT TO START THE CAR AND IT WAS TOTALLY DEAD. TRIED TO JUMP IT AND WHILE INTERNAL ACCESSORY LIGHTS CAME ON IT WOULD NOT START. CALLED FORD AND THEY SENT A TOW TRUCK, WHO JUMPED IT WITH A HAND HELD LITHIUM BATTERY AND IT STARTED. HAD THE TOW TRUCK FOLLOW ME TO THE DEALER, WHERE WITH THE DRIVERS DOOR OPEN, THE ENTIRE CAR WENT DEAD AGAIN. THE DEALER WAS GOING TO REPLACE THE BATTERY BUT IT WOULD NOT FAIL ACCORDING TO THE NEW FORD BATTERY FAILURE CRITERIA AND I SUGGESTED SIMPLY PLACING IT BACK IN THE CAR AND I WOULD CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT LOCALLY. THE CAR SEEMS TO HAVE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE, AS I HAVE NOTICED WHEN I GET INTO THE CAR, I READJUST MYSELF BY PLACING MY LEFT ARM ON THE ARM REST, DOOR AND MY RIGHT HAND ON THE CENTER CONSOLE AND CENTER MYSELF TO THE STEERING WHEEL. IN THAT PROCESS I HEAR THE DOOR LOCKS GO OFF, FROM PUSHING DOWN ON THE ARM REST, DOOR. MY TURN SIGNAL ALSO LOSES THE CLICKING SOUND FROM TIME TO TIME AND NOW I NOTICE THE TURN SIGNALS LIGHT UP WHEN I PLACE MY HAND IN THE DOOR HANDLE TO UNLOCK THE DRIVERS DOOR. I ENJOY DRIVING THE CAR AND WILL CONTINUE TO WORK WITH MY DEALER TO SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE. MY CONCERN IS BEING OUT OF TOWN OR LEAVING IT AT THE AIR PORT AND HAVING TO DEALING WITH A DEAD CAR. IT ACTED AS IF THE ENTIRE BATTERY HAD BEEN DISCHARGED, SIMPLY SITTING IN THE GARAGE.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND OFF. WE LOADED ALL LUGGAGE INTO THE CAR AND CLOSED THE DOORS. BOTH KEYS WERE IN THE DIAPER BAG. THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS ENGAGED AND WE HAD NO WAY TO GET INTO OUR CAR OR CALL FOR HELP, AS OUR PHONES WERE IN THE CAR. THIS TYPE OF DOOR LOCK DOES NOT REQUIRE YOU TO PUSH THE FOB BUTTON. YOU JUST HAVE TO TOUCH THE DOOR HANDLE WHILE KEYS ARE IN YOUR POSSESSION. BUT THE CAR IS NOT SUPPOSED TO LOCK IF THE KEY IS WITHIN THE VEHICLE. WE HAD TO CALL AAA TO GET THE DOOR UNLOCKED. FORTUNATELY OUR INFANT AND DOGS HAD NOT BEEN LOADED YET. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE LOCKS HAVE ENGAGED IN THEIR OWN WHILE THE KEY IS IN THE CAR. ALSO OF NOTE; THE DOORS DISPLAY A SMALL RED LED WHEN LOCKED NORMALLY. THE RED LIGHT WAS NOT ILLUMINATED WHEN THIS HAPPENED, WHICH MAKES ME BELIEVE THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE/MALFUNCTION.
AFTER COMPLETING A TURN AND ACCELERATING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SLAMMED ON ITS BRAKES AND CUT OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. EVERY TIME I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, IT WOULD SLAM VIOLENTLY ON THE BRAKES AGAIN. AS THIS WAS HAPPENING, ALL DRIVER ASSISTANCE WARNING ICONS WERE INTERMITTENTLY FLASHING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, ENGAGED PARK, SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED AND IT WAS WORKING FINE. I HAD THE DEALERSHIP LOOK AT IT AND THEY CLAIMED IT WAS A LOOSE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION THAT CAUSED IT. A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS IS EXTREMELY DISCONCERTING, AND IN MY OPINION EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THANKFULLY IN EITHER INCIDENT MY TODDLER SON WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE.
MY AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS ARE FLICKERING GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY. NO ONE HAS THE KEY FAUB PRESSING ON IT OR ANYTHING.
