There has been no accident as of yet. However Ford has sat on a recall for potential bad break lines on the 2017 Ford edge for 8 Months. Loss of breaks could easily result in multiple DEATHS. I would consider this as an egregious time to get flexible break line. A search of ford parts stores indicate it is available. [XXX] have the parts listed as Ford F2GZ-2282-C Brake Hose Assembly Ford F2GZ-2282-C Brake Hose Assembly Passenger Side (Replaced By F2GZ-2282-G) and Ford F2GZ-2282-D Brake Hose Assembly Driver Side (Replaced By F2GZ-2282-H) at $10.72 ea. This seems to include the updated part number. What is the hold up on such a serious safety issue resolution? Consumer Complaint Summary Nature of Dispute: Refusal to reimburse for safety-related recall repair (Recall 25S87). Summary: On April 6, 2026, my 2017 Ford Edge (VIN: [XXX] ) became undrivable due to a failure of the rear brake jounce hoses. This specific defect is the subject of Ford Safety Recall 25S87. Because the vehicle was a safety hazard, I paid $1,854.43 for an immediate repair at an authorized Ford dealership. Despite the dealer successfully performing the repair, Ford Motor Company (Case #XXX-XXX) has refused my request for reimbursement and rental assistance. Ford claims "parts are not officially available" until April 2026, yet they allowed their dealer to sell me the parts for a private repair. This refusal violates my legal right to a free remedy for a safety defect under federal law. [XXX] and [XXX] (unknown Last name) reiterated the refusal to reimburse my repair an told me after I have it repaired when the new parts are available I can submit my invoice for potential (not guaranteed) reimbursement. The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal went to the floorboard. The contact heard a popping sound coming from outside the vehicle and discovered that the brake hose had ruptured and was leaking brake fluid, and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V544000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 100,000.
While stopped at closed train tracks, my brake petal depressed about 2 inches further. After this I was having trouble breaking, I quickly pulled into a parking lot and had my car towed a nearby dealership. There is a recall out for the break line of my car, 25v544. The dealership called and confirmed that the ruptured break line is due the to outstanding recall that currently has no resolution. The dealership is trying to charge me for the repair of the break line, but promises a reimbursement once a solution is released for the recall. I believe that since the recall has had no resolution since September 2025, they have not fixed the issue in a reasonable amount of time and should not charge me for the break line repair.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Yes, the engine (long block) is leaking coolant into the cylinder. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This is a known problem with these vehicles. Some vehicles have locked up while driving or caught on fire. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes. Thousands of people have reported this problem with this 2.0 ecoboost engine (especially years 2015-2018) and ford has done nothing about it. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The ford dealership. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The check engine light has been coming on and off for the past year. We were told not to worry about it. It was nothing emergent unless it came on and started blinking.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed while slowing for traffic, and the brake pedal went to the floorboard. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the rear brake lines were cracked and needed to be replaced. The contact was aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V544000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); and was informed that parts were not yet available for the recall repair. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,307.
The check engine light repeatedly comes on in my vehicle and despite expensive repairs and multiple trips to the mechanic, the problem is recurring. It has now been determined that there is a coolant intrusion into the engine block and the only resolution is to replace the engine block in its entirety which will cost thousands of dollars. This is a known issue with the Ford Ecoboost engine and a known failure.
The EcoBoost engine showed a low coolant level and white exhaust smoke. Ford has diagnosed the vehicle and the Ford Edge needs a new engine due to Ford’s flawed engine design. Ford is aware of the issue and a recall is not issued and they are not taking any financial responsibility. Refer to Ford technical service bulletin 19-2346
Engine is mis firing on cold engine startup and is loosing coolant. Cause may be faulty engine block.
Beginning in January 2026, the vehicle exhibited progressive symptoms including repeated lurching and difficulty shifting gears. These symptoms are consistent with the open and incomplete recall for the transmission shifter cable bushing and the powertrain control module reprogram. On or around March 25–26, 2026, while operating the vehicle at approximately 35 mph on a surface street, the following failure sequence occurred: the vehicle began producing a repetitive thudding sensation (thud-thud-thud), followed by violent shaking of the steering wheel, followed by a complete loss of steering response. The vehicle drifted uncontrollably into an adjacent lane of active traffic under clear, dry weather conditions — a loss of control consistent with brake hose failure causing uneven braking force, compounded by the known transmission and PCM defects. Collision with another vehicle was narrowly avoided. The vehicle currently has five open, incomplete recalls: (1) front brake flexible hose leak, (2) rear brake flexible hose leak, (3) transmission shifter cable bushing, (4) rear-view camera inspection, (5) powertrain control module reprogram. None have been completed. The described failure is consistent with and likely caused by these unresolved manufacturing defects. But the Owner has attempted multiple times to bring the vehicle to Ford but was turned away due to dealer capacity. No loaner vehicle was offered.
I am still waiting for this recall to be remedied. This issue could cause a fatality. Ford must correct this issue in a more timely manner. No incident has happened yet, my complaint it that there is a safety recall that can affect the rear brake lines on my vehicle, and if the fail it could cause an accident. This vehicle is 9 years old and there still is no solution available from the manufacturer!!! This certainly doesn't seem like a timely way to address a brake related safety recall.

recall notice 25V544 was sent out Aug 2025, and it's the end of April 2026 and nothing has been announced. Called my local dealer and they said it is now looking like May for a remedy. My brakes failed from this recall in February and its undrivable...and Ford is not doing anything to address this
I have a 2017 Ford Edge with the famous coolant intrusion problem that has now caused me to need a new engine and Ford won't do anything to help me. This has been a known problem due to a defect in the way the engine was made that allows coolant to enter the cylinders. Now I am out $5,000 due to needing a new engine. Ford issued a TSB for this problem but no actual recall, leaving thousands of people with costly repair bills.
I was driving the vehicle and the brakes failed. The Ford dealership said that the parts were unavailable for the repair. I took to my local repair shop. There was a brake system leak and it needed an emergency repair. Ford is refusing to reimburse the repair even though their website and dealer say the part is unavailable from them.
On February 14th while operating the vehicle I experienced a braking failure where the brake pedal went to the floor and braking distance was increased. I had the vehicle towed to Ford of Columbus in Columbus, IN on the morning of Feb. 16th where it was confirmed that the rear brake hose had blown due to the associated recall. The failure is exactly due to the recall as acknowledged by both Ford Motor Company and the dealership. Ford Corporate acknowledged (case number XXX) that the repair should not be my financial responsibility yet they continue to demand that I pay out of pocket now for an interim repair because the "official" fix is not ready. By refusing to authorize a no cost repair for a vehicle that has already failed due to their recall, Ford is denying a safety remedy and forcing me to bear the financial burden of a known defect. I do not believe it is my responsibility to pay now and then have to jump through hoops to seek a refund at a "later date" determined by Ford. This is a deceptive and bad faith practice by Ford. I have called Ford Motor Company twice and have utilized the chat once. I have not heard back from the dealership in nearly 24 hours since asking for an update on the status of the repair that I have since approved. I am reporting a dangerous engine defect involving coolant intrusion into the combustion cylinders, specifically Cylinder 4. This is a known design flaw in the 2.0L EcoBoost engine block (referenced in Ford TSB 19-2346). My vehicle is experiencing a persistent misfire, loss of coolant without external leaks, white smoke from the exhaust, and a "waterfall" air-pocket sound in the dashboard. This defect poses a significant safety risk. The engine is prone to sudden stalling or entering "Limp Mode" while driving at highway speeds, creating a high risk of rear-end collisions. Furthermore, the internal coolant leak causes severe overheating and allows flammable fluids to enter the exhaust system, which presents a fire hazard. If the engine "hydrolocks" while in motion, it could lead to an immediate loss of power and power steering, making the vehicle impossible to control safely in traffic. Ford is aware of this defect through internal Technical Service Bulletins but has not issued a safety recall. They are currently requiring owners to pay 8,000–10,000 for a full engine replacement once the powertrain warranty expires, despite this being a fundamental manufacturing defect.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V544000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. While the contact’s wife was driving and depressing the brake pedal, there was resistance to the brake pedal, and excessive pressure was needed on the brake pedal to slow and stop the vehicle. After arriving to the residence, the contact attempted to test the brake pedal and while depressing the brake pedal, there was a large amount of brake fluid leaking near the rear passenger’s side wheel. There were no warning lights or alarms from the OnStar App or the instrument panel. The contact spoke with a mechanic and was advised to reach out to the manufacturer and inquire about the possibility of reimbursement if the vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH and approaching a red light, the brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle slowed down slightly, but the brake pedal went to the floorboard, and the vehicle continued rolling. The contact pumped the brake pedal, and the brake pedal went back to the normal position. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred when the brake was depressed again. The vehicle was coasted to a parking lot, and the contact became aware that the brake fluid reservoir was empty. Brake fluid was purchased from an Auto Parts Store and added to the brake fluid reservoir; however, the brake fluid immediately drained from the vehicle. The vehicle was then towed to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was contacted, and the contact was advised that parts for the recall repair were not yet available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 185,000.

The contact added two bottles of brake fluid to the vehicle and slowly drove to the residence due to the braking failure. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.
On appx 2/1/2026, when accelerating over 50mph to enter the highway, the car started to violently shake would not accelerate any higher. This caused my daughter to be a danger on the highway at such a low speed and she nearly was hit by a semi. The check engine line turned on when this occurred and then went off when the vehicle was turned off so we continued to drive it and it happened 2 more times so we brought it to be looked at. I took it to a local shop that had just changed the oil, thinking it was related, however they ran the diagnostic code(s) and found that there is an open service bulletin at Ford for this issue. The diagnostic codes were P0301 and P0316 for misfires in the cylinders. They are aware of the issue which is causing coolant to leak into the cylinder and the only remedy is to basically replace the engine which I was quoted over $10,000 to complete. For such a new vehicle with so little miles, it doesn't make any sense that Ford does not have a recall open for this for any impacted vehicles.
TSB 19-2349 Oil and Coolant leaked into engine cylinders causing the car to blow white smoke, runs rough and now the long block engine needs to be replaced.
Coolant intrusion into cylinder 2 causing misfire in cylinder 2 and subsequent P0302 error code. Coolant level drops in reservoir and engine begins to overheat unless turned off.
at this point, I have been told to come in for a diagnostic check (my time off from work), but no parts and cannot fix it if the brake hose is leaking, my rear view camera is acting up at least on a weekly basis, can be at times more often then that, and they do not have the parts, also Ford is NOT making the parts at this time per warrentary employee at the dealership. ???? so consumer safety with FORD is - do not care about customer safety? i have to stop and take time for a diagnostic check, to be told yes or no if yes nothing can be done, if no let's say in a week it start to leak, again the parts are no being made at this time my recall letter is from 9/1/2025 over 5 months almost half a year and parts are not being made??? INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCE INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH. i thought customer safety was to protect from physical harm, Ford is not doing this so now , was i sold a lemon that cannot be fixed? try backing up from the driveway into the cudelsac and viewing for kids, and pets then all of a sudden camera jumps to moving lines and scares the crap out of you making you jump (while driving) please assist me understanding why part are not being made for these Ford Edges i know i am NOT the only Ford Edge on the road i see them when i am on the road. Can we PLEASE ensure not just drivers of the Ford Edge safety the to potential damage and injuries to the other vehicle or pedestrian that could be hit by these recall Ford Edges with NO repairs in site or parts being made

My camera intermittently goes blank and car feel like it doesn’t stop properly today I was backing out of a driveway and camera went blank and caused me to back into a car that had pulled up I called my local ford after I got the letters but they said I would receive a letter when they get the parts in !!
While I was coming home from work driving up the mountain on highway 35 in Fort Payne Alabama my vehicle stopped moving and I rolled to a stop on the side of the road. I had to call a rollback and my dad so he could come pick me up. He heard the noise and knew it was the flex plate torque converter issue that Ford is having.

There was a leak in the engine coolant system causing the engine to warp and fail. The engine had thousands of dollars worth of work this year due to other issues. The backup camera stopped working as well and the recall can't be fixed because there aren't parts for it. This engine failure is costing me $9,000 because it can't be repaired and I now have to pay off the vehicle because it isn't worth the cost to put in a new engine. This is a known issue with this model of Ford. Why hasn't it been recalled?!?
I am reporting that my 2017 Ford Edge's rear driver-side brake line was leaking so badly today that my brakes did not function. My brake pedal went to the floor! Thankfully I was near my home and able to get to my driveway and I could pump my pedal enough to stop my vehicle! It is very concerning that Ford knew of this issue and sent the recall letter back in September but has yet to correct this extreme safety hazard for people. Now I am home, unable to get to my office for work and/or my appointments. The first ability for Ford to service my vehicle is this Friday -- so that's today, Wed, Thurs and Friday w/o being able to drive at all. I have to pay $136 to get my vehicle towed over to the Ford dealership and now I'll be paying who know what for my vehicle to get fixed. This same dealership just recently performed maintenance on my back brakes within the last few months and no one there said anything to me to indicate there was any issue with my brake lines. I have the recall notice at home for this issue, and the first they said to me when I called was that Ford had still NOT provided parts to fix this. I consider this a real emergency and I would just say again that I am thankful to God I was close to home, decided to take my dogs down to the Katy Trail close to my house for a walk and only had to drive a slow rate of speed and short distance to come back home w/ minimal traffic on the road. I normally drive a two lane black top to work for about 30 minutes and I am sure this issue would have caused a terrible accident if I had needed to drive to my office this morning. I CERTAINLY HOPE THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY PLANS TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THIS REPAIR AND TOWING. MY SERVICE DATE IS THIS FRIDAY, JANUARY 9 AT CHRIS AUFFENBURG FORD / LINCOLN IN WASHINGTON, MISSOURI.

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the torque converter failure had caused the transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V427000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included. The dealer was made aware of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the recall due to the manufacturing date. The failure mileage was approximately 132,500.
My car is only 44,000 miles yet I got 2 engine light codes on. Presence of coolant in the engine cylinders, white exhaust smoke and a runs rough especially during the first start of the day. Engine diagnostic at Ford dealership shows that it is a coolant intrusion. Dealership states that it requires an entire engine replacement despite my car being in good condition otherwise with proper maintenance.

Check engine light started coming on for a cylinder 3 misfire at around 105,000 miles. Brought to mechanic to diagnose. Replaced ignition coils and spark plugs. The check engine light came on again with the same issue. Coolant also was running low. Brought to Ford dealership who scoped the number 3 cylinder. Dealership Confirmed that coolant was intruding into the engine and that a new engine block would be required as a remedy. This is a well known defect on Ford Ecoboost engines that they have issued recalls for in the past, albeit for smaller liter engines and not the 2.0
