2017 Ford Edge Titanium, 2.0L with 6F35 Transmission, ~70kmiles, owner has all service records. After routine service at Ford dealership ([XXX]), oil and filter change, inspection and coolant replacement; Owner noticed upon driving home that the car would try to stall when placed into gear, then shudder and buck until the throttle was nudged and the car would start moving (forward or backward). Owner promptly returned car to the dealer. A service advisor replicated the problem and took the car into the shop where it remained for 3 days for testing and diagnostics. The mechanics diagnosis (uploaded in attachment) is that the torque converter is in a constant locked state and that something was "bad" in the transmission and likely a torque converter failure. The shop estimated $9,138.33 to repair. Owner declined the excessive repair cost and limped the car home and into owner's garage where it currently sits awaiting some resolution. As this transmission has been the subject of prior recalls, owner believes the recall should be expanded to include this vehicle. Also noted, this transmission has been and may still be the subject of active litigation. Note: an extended warranty the owner had purchased with the car when new, expired just 4 months prior. Coincidence. The Ford 6F35 transmission is defective and should be promptly recalled in all vehicles! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I bought the car when it was 1 year old. I have never had the front brake calipers off the car but 2 of the front brake caliper bracket bolts became loose and fell out. It appears that when the car was built that the bolts weren't torqued properly.
I had a recall performed last year because my car wouldn’t drive no matter what gear I shifted it into, that was the shifter cable recall. This December I was driving and the car started to roll backwards and now no matter what gear I shifted in unless it was in e brake.

Our 2017 Ford Edge that we bought for our daughter to drive to college already had the passenger read brake line blow out and ruin the seals on the calipers and the parking brake actuator had to be replaced. The pedal went to the floor and she couldn't stop at an intersection and she put a hole in the front bumper. There was no warning in the dash to indicate that there was a problem with the brakes. It just failed out of nowhere. We went to the Ford dealer we bought the car from, Alma Ford and asked them what they could do since that part that is recalled is what broke. They said they could not do anything because they have no parts and would not help us. We ended up having to take the car to an independent mechanic and pay out of our own pocket to get it fixed.

The coolant is leaking into the motor causing an overheating issue that cuts power to the engine while driving. This is a large problem that may go unreported but Ford did change the design years down the road to help fix the issue but will not take responsibility.

Subject: Safety Complaint: Engine Failure and Stall Risk – 2017 Ford Edge 2.0L EcoBoost Description of Incident: I am reporting a dangerous engine defect in my 2017 Ford Edge (VIN: [XXX] ) involving the 2.0L EcoBoost engine. My vehicle has experienced total engine failure due to coolant leaking into the engine cylinders. This is a known design flaw documented by Ford in TSB 19-2346, yet no safety recall has been issued for the Edge model. This defect poses a significant safety risk as it can lead to sudden engine stalling, loss of power while driving, and potential engine fires due to overheating. Impact and Financial Burden: My vehicle is currently inoperable and at a repair shop. I am facing a repair estimate of $7,000 – $10,000. Furthermore, my third-party warranty provider (CarShield) has denied the claim, specifically citing that because Ford acknowledged this as a known manufacturing defect via a TSB, they are not liable for the repair. Owners are being left stranded with dangerous, failing vehicles because Ford has not transitioned this TSB into a formal recall or Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP), despite the clear risk of engine failure at highway speeds. Vehicle Information for Your Records: •Year/Make/Model: 2017 Ford Edge •Engine: 2.0L EcoBoost •VIN: [XXX] •Failure Mileage: Approximately 142000 •Incident Date: 10/27/2025 NOTE: Car Shield Contract # XXX Claim # XXX INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The vehicle has low mileage, but the 3rd cylinder wall has a crack that is causing coolant to be leaked into the engine and therefore, the long block/engine needs to be immediately replaced. This is a major safety hazard which can cause the engine to stop at any time, even while driving on the highway, which a major safety issue and hazard. The certified mechanics say that the long block part was manufactured too thin and is causing major safety and mechanical problems and shared Ford needs to recall and replace the long block as this is a common problem and major safety issue with this vehicle as research has shown.
Coolant leaked into the engine cylinders. This issue leads to severe overheating, head gasket failures, and total engine failure. I've been quoted almost $8,000 to replace engine due to Ford's design flaw.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to drive the vehicle approximately 5 MPH to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the driver's side front flexible brake line had ruptured and was leaking brake fluid. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact stated that it was the second failure of a flexible brake line, but the first failure had occurred on the rear passenger’s side brake line. The contact stated that the first failure had occurred in 2024. The contact had not yet received the recall notice for NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V544000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) in 2024. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
Vehicle: 2017 Ford Edge Issue: Sudden loss of power / Transmission failure Safety Concern: Loss of acceleration at highway speeds Complaint Description: I am submitting this complaint due to a serious safety issue with my 2017 Ford Edge. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle began hesitating when I pressed the accelerator. While traveling on the highway, the car accelerated to approximately 60 mph and then suddenly dropped to around 40 mph, despite continued pressure on the accelerator pedal. The check engine light illuminated. I immediately took the vehicle to the dealership for inspection and was informed that the transmission had failed and required replacement. This is a major safety concern. The unexpected and uncontrollable reduction in speed while traveling on a highway created a dangerous driving situation for me and other motorists. A sudden loss of power like this can easily lead to rear-end collisions and serious accidents, especially in fast-moving traffic where other drivers have no warning and do not anticipate a vehicle rapidly decelerating. I believe this issue poses a significant safety risk and request that NHTSA investigate this problem to help prevent potential crashes and protect drivers and the public.
I am trying to file a complaint about no parts for recalls. I have had three recalls on this vehicle and none of them has been rectified due to no parts available. I'm trying to find out why we cannot get parts to fix the transmission bell housing or the brake hoses on these recall notices? I also have a recall for the rear camera. I'm not sure if these recalls are just for my information, or if they ever intend to get parts? The transmission recall is from several years back, and now the recall quit showing up. I guess it magically took care of itself. Thank you.
Rear differential has gone bad and needs replaced due to unsafe to drive
Bought my car used with 100000 miles. Was maintained of every 3000 miles by a ford dealer before i bought it. When i got it and as i was driving home there was a check engine light that popped up for a misfire in cylinder 3 (p0303) and no coolant in the reservoir. I topped up the coolant and since then ive had to refill my coolant ever 3 or 4 days. Its going back to the dealership i got it from on hoping the warranty they provided covers the work.
Slow acceleration when the AWD system is needed, due to failure of rear differential. No replacement parts are available, suggesting high demand due to high failure rate, possibly due to poor design.

Vehicle went in for check engine light, no issues with how the car runs, low coolant. Vehicle was pressure tested and we were told there was a crack in the cylinder and that the engine would need to be completely replaced. This will cost upwards of 10k. Per my research this is a known ticket and huge defect that Ford knows about. We asked if we could get e engine replaced under the goodwill repair program through ford and we were denied there as well.
There are two safety recalls for my car. Service brakes and rear camera. The camera stopped working four years ago. I took it to ford, they said we can replace it for $1500. However, now they don’t have the parts. What kind of scam is Ford and nhtsa doing? The brake line recall was first reported over four years ago, I know this because I received a letter back then. I was told by the Chapman ford, I nj, that when the parts come in they would contact me. Well that never happened. Again what kind of scam is being run here. I’m 73, I really need this camera repaired, I can’t afford $1500. So when are these parts available. A letter should be sent to all the people with an eta when parts will be available for recalls. 2017 Ford Edge Titanium (VIN: [XXX] ) suffered catastrophic engine failure at 81,571 miles in September 2025 due to coolant intrusion into cylinders caused by cracked intake manifold - a known Ford manufacturing defect. Total repair cost: $9,034.66 for complete long-block engine replacement at Crain Buick GMC, Conway, AR. KNOWN DEFECT: Ford documented this problem in TSBs 19-2208, 19-2346, and 22-2229 (dated 2019-2022) affecting 2015-2018 Edge with 2.0L EcoBoost engines. Design flaw in engine block sealing surface allows coolant to leak into cylinders, causing misfires, white smoke, and complete engine failure. Ford redesigned engine for later models, confirming the defect. FORD PROVIDED ASSISTANCE FOR IDENTICAL DEFECT IN OTHER ENGINES: Ford issued Customer Satisfaction Program 21N12 providing 7 years/84,000 miles no-cost repairs for 1.5L engines with identical coolant intrusion problem, but provided NO assistance for 2.0L engines. TIMING: My warranty expired February 2025. Engine failed September 2025 (only 7 months later) at 81,571 miles due to Ford's manufacturing defect, not wear and tear. I received no notification from Ford despite their documented knowledge since 2019. SAFETY RISKS: Engine fire risk, sudden loss of power while driving, potential loss of vehicle control, stranding in dangerous locations. WIDESPREAD PROBLEM: Service shops report multiple Edge vehicles per week with identical failure. Hundreds of documented cases online. Ford only issues TSBs for systematic problems affecting numerous vehicles. SMITH FORD DEALER CONWAY, AR DECLINED TO HELP: Despite knowing this is a documented Ford defect covered by TSBs. REQUEST: NHTSA investigate and mandate safety recall for 2015-2018 Ford Edge 2.0L EcoBoost engines. Require Ford to notify owners, provide no-cost repairs, and reimburse customers who already paid. This defect affects thousands of vehicles and has cost owners $6,000-$10,000+ each for Ford's design flaw. A couple months ago, my right rear brake line broke. Yesterday, my left brake line also broke. On the first occasion, a warning lamp appeared on my dash, but it did not alert me this most recent time. On both occasions, my breaks were very spongey and I noticed my car take an extended time to stop, and it never came to a complete stop. I also noticed greasy fluid leaking from the rear. The right side has been repaired by a Ford dealership, but I had to pay for it. I'm still awaiting a repair for this 2nd line and I have brought this recall notice to the dealerships attention. I've requested that the repair the part free of charge but it's not resolved yet
