2005 FORD ESCAPE. HEARD BUMP FOLLOWED BY NOISE WHILE DRIVING. CHECKED CAR, FOUND PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL WELL BROKEN, UPPER ATTACHMENT PLATE FOR SHOCK ABSORBER NOW IN VEHICLE INTERIOR. APPEARS THAT WHEEL WELL RUSTED OUT FROM THE INSIDE: HIDDEN FROM OUTSIDE BY UNDERCOATING IN WHEEL WELL AND HIDDEN FROM INSIDE BY VEHICLE INTERIOR PANELS. 04 AND EARLIER MODELS RECALLED FOR SAME PROBLEM. WHY NO RECALL ON 05 AND NEWER? MANY HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE FOR THIS PROBLEM.
ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATE (WITH SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM DISPLAYED) AND BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. BRAKES FAIL TO MANUAL BRAKES ONLY, VERY SENSITIVE AND WILL LOCK THE WHEELS UP; TOUCHY WITH NO REAL FEED BACK, JUST APPLIED OR OFF WITH SIGNIFICANT PRESSURE REQUIRED. HAPPENED WHEN PULLING INTO A GAS STATION AND NEARLY WENT PAST THE PUMP, BUT SKIDDED TO A STOP INSTEAD. SYSTEM RESETS WITH EACH KEY CYCLE ON/OFF. IT IS SOMEWHAT INTERMITTENT. WHILE WAITING FOR MY FORD APPOINTMENT (CAVALIER FORD IN CHESAPEAKE, VA), I DUPLICATED THE EVENT SEVERAL TIMES UNDER A CONTROLLED, OPEN PARKING LOT TEST AND DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP RAN DIAGNOSTICS, AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE. THE RECOMMEND REPLACING BRAKE LINES, THEN MASTER CYLINDER, THEN HCU. REPAIRS IN ORDER ARE $615, $1400, AND OVER $4900. DIAGNOSTICS RAN $130...WITH NO DEFINITIVE ANSWER TO MY PROBLEM.
FORD RECALL
ENGINE OIL LEAK CAN NOT BE TRACED. SERVICED BY FORD SINCE 2004 WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW. ONLY SERVICED BY A FORD DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I WAS TOLD BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE, 130,047, AND AGE THE ENGINE NEEDS REPLACED. DYE TEST CONDUCTED BY FORD SERVICE AND NO LEAKS WERE FOUND AFTER DRIVING 500 MILES AND RETURNING TO THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO CHECK FOR LEAKS AS ADVISED BY FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT. LEAVING THE VEHICLE OVERNIGHT, FORD SERVICE MECHANIC INDICATES AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT IT SMOKES EXCESSIVELY ON COLD STARTUP. I HAVE REPLICATED THE COLD STARTUP PROCEDURE EVERYDAY IN COLD WEATHER OBSERVING THE TAIL PIPE EXHAUST AS MY WIFE STARTS THE ENGINE SINCE JANUARY 2018. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A SIGN OF SMOKE OR EXCESSIVE SMOKE FROM THE ENGINE TAIL PIPE EXHAUST.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO HESITATE AND THEN STALLED. THE SRS WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THEN DIMMED. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO START THE VEHICLE AND DROVE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THAT DETERMINED THAT COIL NUMBER FIVE HAD MISFIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE SAME INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR THE SAME FAILURE APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS AGO. THE DEALER WAS ALSO NOT CONTACTED AT THAT TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
THE GAS PEDAL GET STUCK WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS COLD. AND IS DANGER BECAUSE IF YOU ARE IN THE STOP AND YOU STAR DRIVE MAY BE GAS PEDAL IS NOT WORKING AND YOU ARE IN THE MIDDLE THE INTERSECTION AND PRODUCE ACCIDENT. AND IS ALL THE TIME WHEN IS COLD WEATHER
THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL WELL AND SHOCK TOWER HAS EXCESSIVELY RUSTED OUT CAUSING THE CAR TO BE UNSAFE.
RIGHT REAR SHOCK MOUNT AREA RUSTED OUT AND CRACKED. HOLES AND CRACKS IN RIGHT REAR SHOCK MOUNT WHEEL WELL AREA. LOTS OF NOISE AND METAL SHIFTING FROM THAT AREA.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS RUSTED, CAUSING BOTH FRONT TIRES TO LEAN. THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUBFRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED VAN BORTEL FORD AT 585-586-4415 AND WAS REFERRED TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
AFTER BREAKING WHILE IN TRAFFIC, MY CAR SWERVED UNEXPECTEDLY ON TO SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND AFTERWARDS MY STEERING WHEEL WAS AT A STRANGE ANGLE. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK MY CAR TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE CAR HAD EXCESSIVE CORROSION OF FRONT SUBFRAME CROSSBRACE AND LOWER CONTROL ARM RESULTING IN A SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. A RECALL WAS ISSUED ON 2001-2004 FORD ESCAPES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AS MY 2005 FORD ESCAPE. 2005 MODELS SHOULD ALSO BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL
WHILE DRIVING AND THE CAR IS IN MOTION THE GAS PEDAL HAS LOCKED IN AN IDLE POSITION. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY. ALTHOUGH THE CAR IS IN MOTION SUDDENLY THERE IS NO LONGER ANY FORWARD MOMENTUM SINCE THE CAR IS NO LONGER MOVING FORWARD. MY ONLY OPTION IS TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SOMETIMES I CAN TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON WHICH SEEMS TO RESET THE GAS PEDAL AND THEN I CAN CONTINUE ON MY WAY. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SINCE ANY ONE CAN HIT ME. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES
FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND MY CAR WILL STALL OUT WHEN I COME TO SLOW DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY. MY CAR HAS STALLED OUT WHILE EXITING THE HIGHWAY ABOUT 4 TIMES I TOOK IT TO TWO SEPARATE MECHANICS AND ALSO TO A FORD AND THEY RAN IT ON THE COMPUTER AND THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS REPORTED. AFTER RETRIEVING MY CAR FROM THE DIAGNOSTICS MY CAR AGAIN CONTINUE TO STALL SIX MORE TIMES AND THEN AFTERWARDS BEGAN TO DECELERATE ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSING ME TO GET IN AND NEAR ACCIDENT.
WAS DRIVING AT 40 MILES AN HOUR HIT SLIGHT BUMP IN ROAD.SOUNDED LIKE WHOLE BACK END FALLING OFF WITH LOUD BANG. STOPPED GOT OUT CHECKED BACK END ON RIGHT REAR SUBFRAME HOLDING STRUTT TOWER HAD SEPERATED FROM FRAME CAUSING SHOCK AND HOUSING TO COME UP INSIDE OF CAR. THIS COMPLAINT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO FORDS ATTENTION. AN THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THEY SHOULD BE MADE TO FIX THIS AS MANY PEOPLE ARE BEING FORCED TO GET RID OF A GOOD VEHICLE THAT WOULD STILL BE DRIVABLE IF THIS WAS REPAIRED. WE SHOULDN;T BE FORCED TO GET RID OF A GOOD CAR BECAUSE THEY DON;T WANT TO MAKE IT RIGHT. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT LIKE MANY OTHERS HAVE I HOPE YOU JUST DON'T FILE IT AWAY. THEY HONORED THIS PROBLEM IN 2001-2004 BUT THEN AFTER THAT ENDED RECALLS FOR IT THIS IS NOT RIGHT.
SHOCK TOWER ON BACK PASSENGER SIDE RUSTING OUT. LEARNED OF THIS FROM DEALERSHIP 2 WEEKS AGO.
2005 FORD ESCAPE. CONSUMER WRITES SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FOR VEHICLE REPAIRS. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE COMPUTER CONTROL MODULE CAUSED THE COILS TO FAIL. THE CONSUMER STATED THE THERE WAS A TSB FOR THE FAILURE AND BELIEVED THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE PUSHED OUT OF THE HIGHWAY AND INTO A PARKING LOT. *JS
I WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE AND I NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS GOING FASTER THAN IT SHOULD AS I WAS HEADING TOWARDS AN EXIT RAMP. I PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER AMD THE CAR WAS REVVING UP LIKE 4000 RPM ALL BY ITSELF. I DROVE THE VEHICLE ALTERNATING BETWEEN NEUTRAL AND DRIVE AS IT WAS REVVING UP TOO HIGH. I PARKED IN A LOT. TURNED THE CAR OFF... IT WAS REVVING UP LIKE A RACE CAR... ALL BY ITSELF. VERY SCARY. COULD HAVE DIED. THE FLOOR BOARDS WERE CLEAN. NOTHING COULD HAVE STUCK TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL.... NO WAY THIS COULD BE OPERATOR ERROR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL PROTRUDED OUTWARD WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TOWED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT REACHED OUT TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WENT TO THE SCENE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM FAILED DUE TO CORROSION OF THE FRONT SUBFRAME. THE LOWER CONTROL ARM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, WHICH CAUSED THE WHEEL TO WOBBLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V165000 (STRUCTURE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 163,000.
FRONT SUBFRAME (CRADLE) RUSTED THROUGH DIRECTLY ADJACENT TO THE FRONT MOUNTING LOCATION FOR THE LOWER CONTROL ARM. HAVE ONLY OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. PURCHASED FROM PALLOTTA FORD IN WOOSTER, OHIO. VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. FORTUNATELY, IT WAS AT LOW SPEED AS THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL JAMMED INTO THE REAR OF THE WHEEL WELL AND BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO AN ABRUPT HALT. HAD IT TOWED TO MY HOUSE WHERE I INSPECTED THE FRONT SUSPENSION AND THEREBY OBSERVED THE WASTAGE OF THE FRONT SUBFRAME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING ABILITY WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT, AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, STATED THAT THE IDLER PULLEY BOLT FRACTURED IN HALF AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT IMMEDIATELY. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000. *LN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD ESCAPE. UPON INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE ROCKER PANEL WAS DISENTIGRATED AND A HOLE IN THE FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT LEGALLY BE DRIVEN. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
REAR SHOCK MOUNTS RUSTED COMPLETELY OUT. VEHICLE DRIVEN IN CENTRAL VA SO WINTERS ARE NOT THAT TERRIBLE, WHEEL WELLS ARE UNDERCOATED. THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN WHEN THE RIGHT REAR SHOCK BROKE THROUGH THE WHEEL WELL.
MY CAR HAS BEEN STALLING AT RED LIGHTS OR WHENEVER I AM STOPPED STOPPED. IT FEELS LIKE MY CAR HAS DIED AND SOMETIMES DOESN'T START BACK UP FOR A WHILE. I HAVE TO PRESS HARD AND LONG ON CLUTCH. MY GAS PEDDLE HAD BEEN STICKING IN THE PAST.
THE GROMMET OR PLASTIC SCREW WITH A RUBBER GASKET IS SO CHEAP IT FELL APART AND OUT OF BACK HATCH WINDOW ATTACHED TO THE HATCH AND SLID DOWN ON ONE SIDE AND ALMOST COMPLETELY DETACHED FROM DOOR WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT GLASS FLYING EVERYWHERE AND SUCH! THE OTHER SIDE IS FINE, STILL. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AND IS A SAFETY ISDUE. IT COULD FALL OUT THEN FLY INTO TRAFFIC THERE'S A NUMBER OF THINGS THAT COULD HAPPEN IT COULD MAKE A DRIVER VERY NERVOUS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD KNOWING THAT IT'S SLIPPED OR BROKEN OUT ALL FROM THE WIND AN OPENING AND CLOSING DOOR WHICH IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. IT OBVIOUSLY IS A FLUKE BECAUSE THE OTHER SIDE DIDN'T BREAK AND DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS DIDN'T GET TO WHERE IT WAS FALLING APART TO THAT POINT OT AT ALL ACTUALOT I CALLED THE DEALER TO SEE HOW MUCH SOMETHING LIKE THAT WAS IT'S JUST A LITTLE PIECE OF RUBBER AND PLASTIC THEY WANT $100 FOR IT I DON'T THINK THIS IS SOMETHING THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR UNLESS FORD AS MAKING JUNK NOW AND I THINK THEY SHOULD STAND BY THIS BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF IT WOULD HAVE BROKEN IT WOULD HAVE WHO KNOWS WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED. THIS HAPPENED RECENTLY WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY, LIKE 8/23/17.
I WAS ABOUT 115 MILES INTO A 130 MILE TRIP, DOING 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE MY VEHICLE JERKED VERY HARD AND THEN STARTED MAKING LOUD SOUNDS LIKE PARTS FALLING OUT. ALL OF THE CARS BEHIDE ME HAD TO SLAM ON BREAKS AND AVOID HITTING ME. NO LIGHTS OR WARNINGS HAD COME ON UNTIL AFTER THIS HAPPENED. I STEERED THE CAR OFF OF THE INTERSTATE AND DOWN THE RAMP INTO A STORE PARKING LOT. THE CAR WAS NOT RUNNING HOT. LOOKED UNDER CAR AND OIL WAS COMING OUT ALL OVER THE GROUND. A MAN LOOKED AND SAID IT LOOKED LIKE THE COOLANT SYSTEM MESSED UP AND IT THROUGH A ROD IN THE MOTOR BLOCK. I GOT THE CAR ONE MONTH AGO AND IT WAS DOING GREAT. BY LOOKING UP ON TYPE CAR THERE IS OTHERS HAVING PROBLEMS LIKE THIS AND RECALLS ON THE COOLANT SYSTEM. BUT NO ONE ON MY VIN. RECALL 14V526000
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED ON ALL THREE OCCASIONS. FRONTIER FORD IN SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA (3701 STEVENS CREEK BLVD, 95051) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE SERIES OF FAILURES AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V526000 (HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THE RECALL WAS ALREADY PERFORMED ON APRIL 1, 2015. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING, THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PLACED THE GEARSHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND WAS ABLE TO COAST OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT WAITED FOR A FEW MINUTES AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PARK AND RIDE LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,607.
THE MESSAGE CENTER KEEPS SAYING "REAR RIGHT DOOR AJAR" AND IT ISNT AND THE ALARM SEEMS TO GO OFF WITHOUT ANY PROVICATION OF ANY KIIND, NO REASON. IT ISN'T SOMETHING I'VE DONE
BOUGHT CAR USED. SHOCKTOWER RUSTED OUT.NOT REPLACED
WHEN THE CAR IS FULLY LOCKED AND ALL DOOR WELL SHUT THE REAR RIGHT DOOR SENSOR SAYS ITS OPENED OR AJAR WHICH MAKES THE ALARM GO OFF WHEN NO ONE HAS TRIED TO TOUCH THE CAR AND BECAUSE OF THIS IT HAS DRAIN THE BATTERY WHILE HAVING A LESS THAN 1 YEAR OLD BATTERY
THE REAR PASSENGER WHEEL WELL HAS ROTTED OUT, LEAVING THE SHOCK HANGING FREELY ABOVE THE WHEEL, UNATTACHED. I FIRST BECAME AWARE OF THE ISSUE AS THE CAR WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, WHERE I HEARD A LOUD BANG IN THE BACK RIGHT OF THE CAR, AND THE NOISE CONTINUED AS THE CAR WENT OVER BUMPS. IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE THE DAMAGE THE RUST WAS CAUSING TO THE AREA UNTIL THE SHOCK MOUNT CAME FREE, AS THE SEALANT USED IN THE WHEEL WELL HID THE DAMAGE-- APPROXIMATELY EVERY 3-6 MONTHS I EXAMINE THE CAR FOR RUST AND NOTICED NO EXTREME DAMAGE TO THIS AREA PREVIOUSLY.
EXCESSIVE RUST UNDER THE WHEEL WELL/SHOCK TOWER. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHTWAY THE BUMPS CAUSED THE EXCESSIVE RUST TO RIP APART OPENING A GAPING HOLE AND SEPERATING MY SHOCK FROM THE WHEEL WELL. UPON TAKING MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER I WAS TOLD IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND TO PARK IT. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THIS ISSUE IS KNOWN TO FORD AND THAT THEY HAVE NOT ISSUED ANY RECALLS. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT, IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY.
FRONT SUBFRAME ROTTING OUT. LARGE PIECES OF RUSTED METAL ARE DISENGAGING FROM THE SUBFRAME CROSS MEMBERAS CREATING LARGE HOLES AS WELL AS THE CROSSMEMBER K FRAME ENGINE CRADLE. TWO DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOPS HAVE STRESSED NOT DRIVING DUE TO THIS DETERIORATION. HAS ONLY 115000 MILES AND LIVE IN THE RUST STATES AS SPECIFIED IN THE 2004 RECALLS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.
HEARD A BANGING IN THE TRUNK AREA ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, CHECKED IT OUT AND THE WHOLE WHEEL WELL WAS RUSTED OUT, THE SHOCK WAS BARLEY ON. I WAS ON A CITY STREET. TOOK IT TO WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND THEY GAVE ME AN ESTAMET OF $1,145.99. I AM WONDERING WHY THIS VIN IS NOT COVERED IN A RECALL.

THE REAR PASSENGER STRUT WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT OF THE WHEEL WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS SENT TO A FORD DEALER TO INSTALL A "KIT" AND WELD THE STRUT BRACKET TO THE WHEEL WELL. I FOUND THE PROBLEM AFTER HEARING SIGNIFICANT CLUNKING NOISE IN THE BACK AS I DROVE.
GAS PEDAL GETTING STUCK/NOT WORKING OFF AND ON FOR LAST YEAR; GASKET WAS REPLACED, NOW RECENTLY STICKING AGAIN. TODAY, WAS ON ARTERIAL WHEN PEDAL STUCK, LUCKILY NO TRAFFIC AS FOR SEVERAL MINUTES VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. GOT PEDAL UNSTUCK AFTER SEVERAL TRIES AND LIFTING WITH TOE, SO WAS ABLE TO GET HOME. CAR IN SHOP NOW. DANGEROUS!
LAST WEEK WHILE DRIVING MY 2005 ESCAPE MY RIGHT REAR WHEEL WELL BASICALLY ROTTED OUT AND HAS MESSED UP THE SHOCK AND STRUT ASSEMBLY AND KNOCKED THE TIRE LOOSE CAUSING TO RUB AGAINST THE SHOCK AND SMOKE, AND ALL YOU COULD SMELL WAS BURNING RUBBER. . AS I AM READING ALL THE FORUMS OUT THERE IS SEE THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND POTENTLY DANGEROUS ISSUE. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 115,200 MILES ON IT, NO WAY SHOULD THIS HAVE HAPPENED. I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED AND PURCHASED THE WARRANTY (HOPING THEY COVER REPAIRS), MY QUESTION IS WITH SO MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE WHY ISN'T FORD DOING A RECALL THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM. POWER STEERING COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING OR MAKING TURNS. NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES APPEAR WHEN YOU TRY TO FIND THE PROBLEM. IF YOU TURN OFF THE CAR POWER STEERING RETURNS BUT IT GOES OUT AGAIN SHORTLY DOWN THE ROAD.

WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING WILL COMPLETELY FAIL UNEXPECTEDLY AND A YELLOW WRENCH WILL APPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT COMES UNEXPECTEDLY BUT WILL COME BACK ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND ON AGAIN. THE STEERING IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MUSCLE THROUGH WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILS. THE STEERING CAN FAIL AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING OR PARKED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ON AND IT HAPPENS ALMOST 100% OF THE TIME THAT I DRIVE THE VEHICLE. IT SEEMS TO BE WORSE IN HOT WEATHER.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RAPID FORD (1510 S POKEGAMA AVE, GRAND RAPIDS, MN 55744) WHERE THE DIAGNOSIS WAS CONFIRMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ALSO CONFIRMED THE DIAGNOSIS AND PROVIDED A REPAIR ESTIMATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.

WENT TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY CANT TELL WHAT IS HAPPENING BECAUSE THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. THEY CHECKED IT AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE, BATTERY, OILS. THEY SAY THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR BUT THE DEADLINE FOR THIS WAS ON JANUARY 2015. NOW FORD WONT REPAIR MY VEHICLE BECAUSE IT HAS MORE THAN 10 YEARS OLD (IT HAS LESS THAN 116,000 MILES).

IT WAS VERY SCARY FOR ME & COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE IF I HADN'T OF BEEN ABLE TO GET CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUBFRAME FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. A 2005 SUBFRAME WAS ORDERED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE, BUT IT DID NOT FIT AND HAD TO BE CHANGED OUT FOR A 2004 SUBFRAME. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V165000 (STRUCTURE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
