THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER (BILL TALLEY FORD, 6280 MECHANICSVILLE TURNPIKE, MECHANICSVILLE, VA 23111 (800) 260-5082) WAS CONTACTED SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS UNABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. I RECEIVED AN ERROR ABOUT MY STEERING ASSISTANT AND THEN MY STEERING JUST WENT OUT. IT WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL AND I WAS DRIVING MY MOTHER HOME. I AM LUCKY WE WEREN'T BOTH KILLED! OR KILLED SOMEONE ELSE!!! I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND OUT THAT MY VIN ISN'T COVERED AS PART OF THE RECALL THAT INVOLVES THIS SAME ISSUE. IT WILL BE $900 TO FIX AND I'M UNSURE HOW TO COMPLAIN. FORD IS AN UPSTANDING COMPANY THAT I THOUGH STOOD BY ITS PRODUCTS BUT I'M FINDING OUT THAT MAY NOT BE THE CASE. IT IS UNFORTUNATE TO MY FAMILY AS WELL, SINCE ITS ONLY A FEW WEEKS UNTIL CHRISTMAS BUT WILL NEED TO PAY THIS EXPENSE. THERE IS A STICKER ON THE WINDSHIELD THAT SAYS IT WAS MADE IN KANSAS. BASED ON THE RECALL IN PLACE THAT IS THE PLANT AFFECTED. I CAN SEND A PIC OF THAT STICKER IF YOU NEED IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILED AND THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE STARTED. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE KEY; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CROWN FORD (420 MERRICK ROAD, LYNBROOK, NEW YORK 11563, PHONE (516) 599-0600) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE, IT BEGAN TO VIBRATE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGINS TO VIBRATE VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER LOCATION BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY CONFIRMED THE RECALL REMEDY BUT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V777000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) ON DECEMBER OF 2016. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000. *BF *TR
STEERING CAPABILITY SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED. FORTUNATELY, VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY. UPON STARTING ENGINE, STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN WITHOUT SIGNIFICANT EFFORT. IN NO WAY WOULD IT HAVE BEEN SAFE TO OPERATE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD IN THAT CONDITION. THE STEERING COLUMN DISPLAYED NO PREVIOUS SIGNS OF DEGRADATION LEADING UP TO MALFUNCTION.
LOSS OF STEERING WHILE DRIVING. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED IN A STRAIGHT AHEAD POSITION WHILE TURNING ON A CITY STREET. A ALERT CAME ON THE DASH SAYING ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSIST SENSOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER TO THE STEERING AND MADE THE CAR HARD TO TURN. I WAS ON A CITY STREET.
WATER IS LEAKING DOWN THE INSIDE OF MY BACK LIFTGATE DUE TO A POOR SEAL AROUND THE BACK WINDOW. THE WATER IS SLOWLY LEAKING DOWN THE LIFTGATE GLASS AND INTO THE BODY, EFFECTING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND THE MOTOR THAT OPENS THE TRUNK. IN SHORT, THE TRUNK BUTTON ATTEMPTS TO OPEN BUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILS TO SEND A PROPER SIGNAL TO THE MOTOR TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN I FIRST DISCOVERED THE ISSUE. I HAVE DONE EXTENSIVE RESEARCH AND THIS SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING TO A LOT OF FORD ESCAPES FROM 2008-2012. FORD TECHNICIANS HAVE EVEN MADE YOUTUBE VIDEOS EXPLAINING HOW AND WHY THIS HAS HAPPENED TO A LOT OF ESCAPE MODELS. IT ALL STARTS WITH A POOR SEAL SURROUNDING THE BACK WINDOW, LEADING TO MORE PROBLEMS DOWN THE ROAD DUE TO THE ISSUE.
ENGINE STALLS AND WONT IDLE ENGINE CODE PO2111
PCM HAS WATER DAMAGE DUE TO PLACEMENT UNDER THE HOOD. WHEN THE HOOD IS OPENED WATER RUNS DOWN DIRECTLY ONTO THE UNIT AND INTO THE WIRING. THE REPEATED WATER EXPOSURE HAS CAUSED THE UNIT TO FAULT. THIS WATER INTRUSION CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO FAIL TO START INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN TURNING THE IGNITION, THE VEHICLE WILL FAIL TO ENGAGE THE STARTER; HOWEVER, HEADLIGHTS, RADIO ARE FUNCTIONAL. INTERMITTENTLY WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ILLUMINATE AND THE TACHOMETER AND SPEEDOMETER WILL STOP READING SPEED AND RMPS, RESETTING TO ZERO. WHEN THIS OCCURS IT NOT IMPAIR OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. ADDITIONALLY, THE STEERING TORQUE SENSOR IS FAILING. INTERMITTENTLY, THE VEHICLE WILL DISPLAY "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE" ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. WHEN THIS OCCURS, TURNING THE CAR ON AND OFF REPEATEDLY WILL TEMPORARILY RESOLVE THE ISSUE.
Talked to [XXX] (service Manager) AutoNation Ford regarding issues encountered. Service recall dates back to Nov 16, 2017 where recall issue was not completed correctly. We had contacted AutoNation Ford to address this fuel leak issue. Original recall (16S41) description was about fuel leak underneath the vehicle and after service recall completed in 2017 the issue persisted. This would have caused gasoline leakage causing dangerous condition operating vehicle. This has also been forwarded to NHTSA. THE POWER STEERING AND TRACTION STABILITY CONTROL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. LEIF JOHNSON FORD (501 E KAENIG LN, AUSTIN, TX) DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL WAS SATISFIED AFTER THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RECALL LETTER STATED THAT THERE WERE THREE STEPS THAT WERE TO BE PERFORMED REGARDING THE RECALL; HOWEVER, THE DEALER ONLY PERFORMED THE FIRST STEP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000. *BF *AS THE CONSUMER WANTED TO ADD 4 QUESTIONS TO EVOQ AND THEY ARE AS FOLLOWS: WHY OR HOW, WOULD REPROGRAMMING THE PSCM REMEDY THE FAULTY TORQUE SENSOR? WHY WOULD OR HOW COULD THIS SATISFY THE RECALL ENOUGH TO CLOSE IT OUT, ALL THE WHILE, THE FAULTY TORQUE SENSOR IS STILL IN MY VEHICLE? IF A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS COMPLETED, CUSTOMERS SHOULD KEEP A FAULTY PART IN THEIR VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH THAT FAULTY PART IS PRONE TO A FAILURE THAT COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT? IF THIS IS NOT THE POSITION HELD, CAN YOU CONFIRM FOR ME THEN, IT SEEMS TO BE THE POSITION OF FORD, THAT IF THE REPLACEMENT PARTS HAVE A LOWER PROBABILITY OF FAILING, THIS STILL DOES NOT WARRANT AN EXTENSION TO THE COVERAGE FOR THOSE OLDER/ORIGINAL PARTS, IS THIS CORRECT? *TR

POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. CAR COMPUTER WAS REPROGRAMMED JULY 2014 AS PER RECALL 14S05. NOW UNABLE TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF FAULT/FAILURE. 108,000 MILES. DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ON LOCAL ROAD WHEN SHE LOST ALL POWER STEERING. VERY DIFFICULT TO MANUEVER TO SAFE PLACE. WORSE THAN THE OLD MANUAL STEERING CARS.
THE ELECTRIC ASSIST STEERING SEIZED UP WHILST CAR WAS IN MOTION AND ALMOST CAUSED A WRECK. THE CAR HAS INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS AND WARNING LIGHTS FLASHING AND IT IS GETTING WORSE. THIS HAPPENED ALL AT ONCE WITH VERY LITTLE WARNING AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A VEHICLE CRASH WITH MY 74 YEAR OLD SICKLY MOTHER AT THE WHEEL. AN ASCE CERTIFIED MASTER MECHANIC I TRUST INSPECTED IT AFTER THE FACT AND ADVISED I TAKE THE CAR OFF THE ROAD AND SEARCH FOR A FACTORY RECALL BECAUSE HE HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN WITH NORMAL WEAR. BE WARNED FORD ESCAPE OWNERS. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL AT HIGH SPEEDS DURING A TURNING MANEUVER. MY MOTHER WAS DRIVING LOCALLY AND AT SPEEDS UNDER 50 MPH
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE CLOSING THE REAR HATCH DOOR, THE WINDOW ON THE DOOR SHATTERED. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE PLASTIC HINGES ON THE DOOR WERE ALSO CRACKED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
WHILE DRIVING AT MODERATE SPEED THE STEERING BECAME VERY STIFF AND THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN OFF THE ROAD. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF A PROBLEM BEFORE THE INCIDENT. THE DASH MESSAGE WAS THAT OF A STEERING FAILURE. REPAIRS WERE APPROXIMATELY $1,200.00

DURING THE FAILURE, THE WARNING MESSAGE "POWER ASSIST FAULT" DISPLAYED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER (AVALAN FORD IN MARROW, GA) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE BOTH NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED IN 2015 PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE LATER EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,500.
PROBLEM FIRST AROSE WHILE DRIVING ~60 MPH ON HIGHWAY, THERE WAS A SLIGHT JERK OF THE STEERING WHEEL, AS WELL AS A DINGING-ALARM HEARD. DID NOT NOTICE A WARNING ON THE DASH AT THE TIME, CAR DROVE FINE THE REST OF THE DAY BESIDES THIS QUICK INCIDENT. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT UPON TURNING RIGHT AT A STOP LIGHT, STEERING WAS VERY HARD BUT MANAGEABLE. UPON STARTING THE CAR AGAIN LATER THE SAME DAY, I NOTICED A MESSAGE OF "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" ON MY DASH ALONG WITH DINGING HEARD, AND NO POWER STEERING AT ALL. DROVE HOME WITHOUT POWER STEERING, FORCED AND DIFFICULT TURNING. FOUND THAT THERE WERE RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM OF MY CAR, JUST NOT FOR MY VIN SPECIFICALLY.
2010 FORD ESCAPE, LOST STEERING POWER WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED BRIEFLY (ABOUT 1-2 SECONDS) AND POWER CAME BACK AGAIN. ALARM WAS HEARD AT SAME TIME. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY ABOUT ONCE A WEEK SINCE LAST YEAR. THERE WAS A RECALL AND DEALER REPROGRAMED SOME SOFTWARE ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO.
OUR 2010 DORD ESCAPE'S TRANSMISSION FAILED IN OCTOBER, 2017 WITH ONLY 41590 MILES ON THE VEHICLE WILE MOVING ON CITY STREETS. REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION WAS REQUIRED COSTING US .$4,848.22.
NHTSA RECALL 16V777 & FORD MOTOR COMPANY RECALL 16S41 WERE RELEASED IN OCTOBER OF 2016. WHY DID WE NOT RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE ON THIS VEHICLE & NOW IN OCTOBER OF 2017 WE ARE HAVING DIFFICULTY GETTING THIS REPAIRED. WHY ARE FORD DEALERSHIPS NOT AWARE OF THIS RECALL & DO NOT HAVE PARTS IN STOCK? WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP & WAS TOLD THIS IS A BRAND NEW RECALL. ONE YEAR LATER????? SOUNDS VERY FISHY TO ME. SOMEONE IN AUTHORITY SHOULD LOOK INTO THIS. WE CAN NOT EVEN PARK THE VEHICLE IN OUR GARAGE DUE TO THE GAS LEAK & SMELL.
I PARKED MY CAR AND ONCE TRIED TO DRIVE THE NEXT DAY,I FELT THE STEERING WHEEL TO HARD.
THE ANTI-THEFT SIGNAL KEEPS COMING ON IN MY CAR. WHEN I AM MOVING AND NOT MOVING ALL THE WARNING IN MY CAR COMES ON. THE SPEEDOMETER GOES TO ZERO, THE GAS GAGE GOES TO EMPTY, ETC WITH ALL THE OTHER WARNING LIGHTS. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF SUDDEN EVERY SINGLE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I IMMEDIATELY GOT OFF THE NEXT EXIT AND PARKED AT A GAS STATION. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, BUT IT WOULD NOT START FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. I FINALLY GOT IT TO START AND DROVE QUICKLY TO WORK. I TOOK THE CAR THAT AFTERNOON TO FORD SERVICE. THEY SAID IT WAS MY IGNITION, SO THEY CHANGED THE PART AND CHARGED ME OVER $320. WHEN I DRIVE MY CAR THE NEXT MORNING, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I TOOK MY CAR TO FORD AGAIN THAT MORNING. NOW THEY TELL ME THE BOARD THAT HAD THE ELECTRICAL PARTS IS CORRODED, SO THEY CHANGED THAT AND CHARGED OVER $720. THE NEXT DAY AFTER I TOOK THE CAR HOME IT HAPPENED FOR A QUICK MOMENT, BUT THEN IT STOPPED. TODAY 10/18/17 WHICH IS 2 DAYS AFTER I PICKED MY CAR UP FROM FORD SERVICE I LET MY CAR WARM UP IN THE MORNING FOR ABOUT 10 MINS, BUT WHEN I GOT IN THE CAR ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN. THIS TIME THE CAR WOULD NOT START AT ALL AND THE ANTI-THEFT WARNING LIGHT KEPT BLINKING EACH TIME. SO I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK. SO NOW I HAVE NO CAR, I'M OUT OVER $1,000 AND I HAVE TO GET A CAR RENTAL. AND FORD SERVICE CONTINUES TO CHARGE EACH TIME INCLUDING A DIAGNOSTIC TEST FOR OVER $100. I DIDN'T KNOW I HAD AN ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM AND I DON'T NEED ONE. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, BUT FORD SERVICE IS NOT ABLE TO FIX THIS. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT I AM GOING TO DO NOW. IN MY OPINION THIS IS A FORD MANUFACTURING PROBLEM AND I SHOULD NOT BE CHARGED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I DON'T WANT AN ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM. I WANT MY MONEY BACK. I HAVE PICTURES FOR TWO OF THE TIMES THIS HAPPENED. ALTHOUGH IT HAPPENED MORE THAN TWO TIMES.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT CAME ON NOW I HAVE NO POWER STEERING, CHECK FUEL INLET LIGHT COVER LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON, MY TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO LAG ALIT AND STUFFERS UP HILLS AND IF I TRY TO PASS ANYONE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE ODOR OF FUEL ENTERED THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE FILLED WITH FUEL. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL FILLER NECK WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PARK CITIES LINCOLN IN DALLAS, TEXAS WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REQUESTED THAT THE VEHICLE BE BROUGHT IN FOR SERVICE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.

WHEN LOOKED UP THERE SHOWED A RECALL ON SOME WEBSITE AND COMPLAINTS THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US THERE WERE NO RECALLS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT OR WHY THIS IS HAPPENING.
WRENCH AND ENGINE LIGHT IS ON IN CAR. COMPLETELY STALLED IN TRAFFIC. P2118 CODE WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE THROTTLE BODY SYSTEM IS STUCK OPEN.
WHEN YOU TURN ON THE KEY TO START THE CAR, THE LIGHT COME ON, IT DINGS, ALL THAT HAPPENS, BUT NOTHING HAPPENS TO MAKE IT CRANK/START,. ITS LIKE THERE IS NO BATTERY BUT EVERYTHING ELSE IS LIGHTING UP AND DINGING, I HAVE TO REPEAT THIS 3 OR 4 TIMES FOR IT TO FINALLY START.

NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN ALL WITHIN ABOUT 2 YEARS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS DUE TO A FAULTY PART THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT. THE PROBLEM DOES NOT PERSIST IMMEDIATELY THEREAFTER, IF WE PULL OFF OF THE HIGHWAY AND SHUT THE CAR OFF, WAIT A FEW MINUTES, AND START IT UP AGAIN, THE POWER TRAIN LIGHT IS OFF.

WHILE DRIVING MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE XLS 4 CYLINDER , THE TRUCK STALLED AND CUT OFF DURING DRIVING. LUCKY I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I STARTED THE TRUCK BACK AFTER 30 MINUTES, THE TRUCK DROVE AND AGAIN WITH NO WARNING THE TRUCK STARTED TO STALL AND CUT OFF. THE JUST STARTED TO HAPPEN OUT OF NO WHERE. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK USED AND STILL PAYING ON IT. THE WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED RAN OUT AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS YEAR. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION; THIS HAPPEN RIGHT DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND BY THE GRACE OF GOD I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE. I DID MANAGE TO GET THE TRUCK HOME BUT AFTER READING MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME ISSUE, I FEEL LIKE THIS SHOULD OF BEEN LOOKED INTO BY FORD FOR A POSSIBLE RECALL. FROM WHAT I AM GETTING THIS IS FROM A KNOWN ISSUE WITH EARLY MODEL FORD ESCAPES "ELECTRIC THROTTLE BODY". I WAS ON A STREET WHEN THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT AT 34 TO 40 MILES PER HOUR.

MY GAS CAP LIGHT CAME ON LAST SEPTEMBER AND WHEN I TOOK IT INTO MY REGULAR SHOP THEY WERE ABLE TO REPAIR IT, HOWEVER, AS THIS AS BEFORE THE RECALL WAS SENT OUT, I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PART FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL OCTOBER OF 2017. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE A/C BROKE JUST 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE, AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WASN'T COVERED. I HAVE CLIENTS AND CHILDREN IN MY VEHICLE DAILY, AND IN THE EXTREME DC HEAT IT CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS WITH ONLY HOT AIR BLOWING OUT OF THE VENTS. THIS IS A TERRIBLE PROBLEM, AND I WAS TOLD IT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT, WHICH MEANS YOU SHOULD RECALL THESE VEHICLES TO BE REPAIRED. The contact stated that he would have to pump the brakes and engage the ABS to stop the vehicle. The contact had taken the vehicle to several dealers where he had the brake lines bled, the master cylinder replaced, and the hydraulic control unit replaced. Despite the multiple repairs, the contact stated that extra brake travel time was needed to stop the vehicle. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and informed him that they could not determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, APPROX. 45 MPH, 2 LANE ROAD ENTERING VILLAGE, CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND ENTERED LIMP HOME MODE. WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. MADE IT HOME, BUT HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SEVERAL TIMES TO REGAIN MARGINAL POWER TO BE ABLE TO GO UP HILLS. DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AT THE GARAGE REVEALED ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILURE, NECESSITATING A REPLACEMENT.
WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH ON A CITY STREET, THE POWER BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED. MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO EVENTUALLY STOP THE CAR BY PRESSING DOWN AS HARD AS POSSIBLE ON THE BRAKE. LUCKILY THE CAR STOPPED JUST BEFORE ENTERING THE INTERSECTION AGAINST A RED LIGHT. SHE PARKED THE CAR AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A FAULTY ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE (EBCM.) WE WERE ALSO INFORMED THAT AN EMPLOYEE AT THE DEALER HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. BOTH FAILURES WERE WITHOUT WARNING WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING OPERATED. OUR CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS A SERIOUS FAILURE OF AN ESSENTIAL SAFETY SYSTEM WITHIN THE VEHICLE, AND APPEARS TO NOT BE AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. I THEREFORE BELIEVE THAT FORD SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO RECALL ALL VEHICLES SUBJECT TO THIS CATASTROPHIC FAILURE AND REPAIR AND/OR REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PARTS AT THEIR EXPENSE.

IN EVERY INCIDENT I WAS ACCELERATING WHEN IT WOULD OCCUR. THE FOOT PEDDLE DEPRESSED WITHOUT ANY PRESSURE TO THE GAS. MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE BREAK. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED BUCKING ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHEN GOING IN REVERSE. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM. I PURCHASED THIS CAR USED FROM A LOCAL DEALER. THEY NEVER DISCLOSED ANY ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND CALLED A FORD DEALER BUT CANNOT FIND A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. IT IS A VERY REAL ISSUE. FEEL FREE TO COME TEST DRIVE MY CAR!
