TAKATA RECALL AFTER FUELING THE VEHICLE, THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE THEN STALLED AND JERKED AFTER CRANKING THE ENGINE AND STALLED OUT WHILE STILL. AFTER DIAGNOSING THE ISSUE, IT WAS CITED THE CAR HAS A "GROSS VACUUM LEAK" INDICATING THAT THE "EASY FUEL" GAS FLAP IS NOT SHUTTING PROPERLY. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE FOR MOST FORD ESCAPE OWNERS AND EVEN OTHER FORD OWNERS THAT HAVE THE "EASY FUEL" SYSTEM. THE SUGGESTED SOLUTION BY MOST DEALERS AND TECHNICIANS IS TO EVENTUALLY REPLACE THE FUEL FILL PUMP, HOWEVER THE REPAIR SEEMS TO BE PRETTY COSTLY FOR AN ISSUE IMPACTING OWNERS BASED ON A FAULTY "EASY FUEL" SYSTEM.
HAD TO HAVE THROTTLE BODY REPLACE FOR SECOND TIME FIRST TIME IN DECEMBER 1 2015 SAME ISSUE OCCURRED JANUARY 13 2017 FIRST TIME PAID NOTHING BUT THAT WAS AFTER ME HAVING TO INFORM THEM OF THE 13N03 CUSTOMERS SATISFACTION FROM FORD. THIS TIME HAD TO PAY 100 DOLLARS AS THEY CALL IT DEDUCTIBLE THIS CAR IS A 2010 HAS LESS THAN 60,000 MILE ON ITS THIRD THROTTLE BODY . WELL MY COMPLAINT IS IF ITS THE SAME ISSUE TWICE WHY AM I HAVING TO PAY FOR IT AT ALL . BOTH TIMES THIS HAPPENED WAS LIGHT CITY TRAFFIC AND BOTH TIMES WHEN MY WIFE WAS ON THE WAY TO PICK UP OUR CHILDREN FROM SCHOOL AND WHILE TRAVELING UNDER 40 MPH I WANT MY FAMILY SAFE GOD FORBID IT HAPPEN ON FREEWAY FAR FROM HOME PLEASE PLEASE RESOLVE BOTH ISSUES THANK YOU *TR
RECALL ISSUED DECEMBER 2010. SEVERAL PHONE CALLS MADE TO TWO LOCAL DEALERSHIPS FOR REPAIRS AS SOME PF THE ISSUES IDENTIFIED HAVE BEEN NOTICED DURING REFUELING OF VEHICLE. THEN IN JANUARY 2017 APPOINTMENT WAS MADE TO ADDRESS ISSUE AND AFTER LENGTHY WAIT SERVICE WAS NOT PREFORMED BECAUSE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. AS OF THIS WRITING STILL NOTHING FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO ADDRESS THIS FUEL ISSUE THAT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF FIRE.
I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FOR MY 2010 ESCAPE CONCERNING THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING SYSTEM. WHEN THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THERE WERE NO CODES BUT THEY "REPROGRAMMED" THE SENSOR. NOW TWO YEARS LATER THE TORQUE SENSOR HAS GONE BAD CAUSE THE POWER STEERING TO STOP WORK WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I GO BACK TO THE DEALER THEY SAY THEY WONT DO ANYTHING SINCE IT WAS REPROGRAMMED ALREADY. THE SAFETY ISSUE STILL EXIST.
IN JULY 2014, FORD ISSUED A RECALL (14S05/NHTSA RECALL 14V-284) FOR DEFECTIVE TORQUE SENSORS (FOR POWER STEERING). MY VEHICLE WAS RECALLED. FORD HAD AN OPTION OF RE-PROGRAMMING OR REPLACING THE PART. ALTHOUGH I WASN'T EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM AT THE TIME, FORD REPROGRAMMED MY VEHICLE IN JULY 2014. BUT IN JAN. 2017, THE DEFECTIVE PART FAILED AND THE POWER STEERING WAS LOST WHILE DRIVING ON A LOCAL STREET.. I HAD TO REPLACE THE TORQUE SENSOR AT THE FORD SERVICE DEALER IN PUTNAM, CT AT A COST OF OVER $500. I ENDED UP PAYING TO REPLACE AN ADMITTEDLY DEFECTIVE PART WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE RESPONSIBILITY OF FORD. I BELIEVE THE RE-PROGRAMMING DID NOT ADDRESS THE ISSUE AND THAT THE DEFECTIVE PART SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING), BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
IS IT COMMON FOR MY 2010 ESCAPE XLT TO HAVE A EVAP CODE READING HAVING A LARGE LEAK? CODE P0455
THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A DRIVEWAY ON A FAIRLY COLD DAY (TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW 30S). AFTER LOADING THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND UPON CLOSING THE LIFTGATE, THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED. PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING, THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF A CHIPPED/DAMAGED WINDOW. THE LIFTGATE WAS NOT SLAMMED HARDER THAN USUAL AND THERE WERE NO ITEMS BLOCKING IT FROM CLOSING.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

ANTI LOCK BRAKE MODULE FAILING ESPECIALLY IN COLD WEATHER. BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES MUSHY AND BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL MUCH LONGER. ANTI LOCK BRAKES WORKING INTERMITTENTLY. MANUFACTURER SAYING NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY BECAUSE OF HIGH MILEAGE. VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. REPAIR SHOP SAYING THEY HAVE SEE OTHER FORD SUV WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM.
I HAD MY CAR PROGRAMMING UPDATED AND JUST RECENTLY, MY POWER STEERING WENT COMPLETELY OUT WHICH IS CAUSING ME TO NEED MY WHOLE STEERING COLUMN REPLACED. I CONTACTED FORD, HOWEVER, THEY STATED SINCE THEY "CLOSED" RECALL 14S05, THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE DAMAGES. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR A WEEK NOW AS I BATTLE WITH FORD. FORD AND STERLING MCCALL ARE RUDE AND WILL NEED ASSIST WITH THIS ISSUE AS THE RECALL REPAIR HAS FAILED THE 1ST TIME AND NOW THE POWER STEERING WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS IN MOTION WITH MY 6 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER WHEN THE STEERING WHEN OUT, BUT LUCKILY WE WERE ABLE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT.

THE DEALER (NORTHGATE FORD) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE THREE TIMES SINCE THE RECALL, AND STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 66,615. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES AND ENTIRE CAR SHAKES WHEN STOPPED OR MOVING. SOMETIMES YOU CAN REDUCE THE SEVERITY OF IT BY APPLYING A SLIGHT TURN OF THE WHEEL, BUT EVEN THEN IT OFTEN STARTS AGAIN. IT EVEN OCCURS AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND IS VERY DISTRACTING.

VEHICLE IDLED ROUGHLY. AT A LIGHT, VEHICLE IDLED ROUGHLY, DASHBOARD WRENCH ICON LIGHT UP, AND ENGINE STALLED. THIS HAPPENED TWICE. WAS ABLE TO START AGAIN AND DRIVE TO DEALER. DEALER DETERMINED IT WAS THROTTLE BODY AND REPLACED IT.

WHILE SHUTTING MY REAR HATCH AFTER REMOVING MY RECYCLING, THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED. THERE WAS NO CONTACT TO THE WINDOW AND IT HADN'T BEEN OPENED. THERE'S NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THE WINDOW WOULD JUST EXPLODE ON ITS OWN.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY DID NOT SEE ANY FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PICTURES THAT THE DEALER SENT. THE MANUFACTURER FURTHER STATED THAT ALTHOUGH THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V777000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE), THE CONTACT SHOULD PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR ANY REPAIRS AND THEN REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT LATER. FORD ESCAPE POWER ASSIST STEERING RECALL JUST PURCHASED VEHICLE OCT 14 2016. NOV 7,2016 THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WENT OUT WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN AT 10MPH. FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS, TOOK TO DEALERSHIP & THEY TOLD ME NO RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE WAS FOUND. DEALERSHIP WANTS $700 TO FIX. CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SUPPORT & WAS INFORMED THAT A SYSTEM UPDATE WAS DONE IN AUG 2014 FOR THE RECALL. ON 2ND CALL TO FORD CUST SPT, A "INVESTIGATION" WAS OPENED & SENT TO DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM TRY TO WORK WITH IT. AFTER NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS, BOTH THE DEALERSHIP & FORD CUST SUPPORT WERE BOTH PUTTING IT OFF ON THE OTHER TO WORK WITH THE ISSUE. I FEEL THAT THIS RECALL SHOULD BE AN ONGOING RECALL IF THEY ARE ONLY GOING TO DO THE SYSTEM UPDATE & NOT REPLACE THE STEERING SHAFT TORQUE SENSOR ON THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, OR THAT THE STEERING SHAFT TORQUE SENSOR SHOULD JUST BE REPLACED INSTEAD OF A SYSTEM UPDATE AT NO COST TO THE VEHICLE OWNER. THERE ARE TOO MANY COMPLAINTS THAT I'VE READ IN THE LAST 48HRS OF THIS HAPPENING OVER & OVER AGAIN TO PEOPLE WHO'VE HAD ONLY THE SYSTEM UPDATE. I'M CURRENTLY WAITING ON A PHONE CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THIS SITUATION TAKEN CARE OF, ON THEIR PART. I WILL NOT STOP VOICING MYSELF, ON BEHALF OF OTHERS WHO'VE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE HAPPEN TO THEM, MORE THAN ONCE!!
2010 FORD ESCAPE WAS STATIONARY WHEN AN ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD INDICATING "POWER STEERING FAULT." THE WHEEL WOULD TURN BUT ONLY WITH GREAT EFFORT. MY MECHANIC INDICATED THE POWER STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND IS COVERED BY A FORD RECALL. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT, WHILE SUBJECT TO THE FORD RECALL, THE DEALER "UPDATED THE SOFTWARE" AND FORD WOULD NOT REPAIR THE FAULTY POWER STEERING MODULE. POWER STEERING MODULES SHOULD NOT FAIL. IF THEY ARE PRONE TO FAILURE THEY SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED.
