I WAS LEAVING FOR WORK AND MY VEHICLE SEEMED TO HESITATE AND THEN LOST ALL FUNCTION TO THE GAS PEDAL. AFTER SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF, I TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT APPEARED TO WORK FINE. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. I'M CURRENTLY WAITING ON THE ESTIMATE BUT SAW ALL THE COMPLAINTS AND NEEDED TO ADD MY NAME TO THE LIST OF PEOPLE WITH THIS PROBLEM. FORD SHOULD TAKE THIS AS A LOSS FOR THE SAFETY AND BETTERMENT OF ITS CLIENTS. *TR
THE THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM OF MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE IS STUCK CLOSED PER THE P2112 CODE. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED CAR LOST ALL POWER. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW TO A SAFE STOP. DEALER TELLS ME ITS THE ELECTRONIC BODY. I FIND OUT THAT ANOTHER AREA DEALER HAS REPLACED 96 OF THESE THIS YEAR ALONE. THIS SOUNDS LIKE A PROBLEM FORD NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF. THE KICKER IS THAT ITS NOT COVERED BY MY WARRANTY. *TR

THE THROTTLE BODY WENT BAD ON MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE LIMITED V6 3.0L ENGINE. MY CAR IS 41 DAYS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE FOR DEALER CHARGE ME CLOSE TO 500. DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. I KEPT THE OLD THROTTLE BODY FOR EVIDENCE. THERE SHOULD BE SOME TYPE OF REGULATION ON THIS ITEM. BECAUSE I ALMOST GOT KILLED BY THIS DEFECT. FORD MANAGER CONTACTED ME,HER NAME IS [XXX]. SHE TOLD ME TO KEEP MY RECEIPT BECAUSE THEY WERE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE THROTTLE BODY'S VENDOR. THAT THIS MAY COME TO A RECALL.. I WAS DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 45-50 MPH AND SUDDENLY I LOST POWER. THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING BUT EVEN WITH PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR I ONLY HAD A SPEED OF 5 MPH FOR AN ADDITIONAL 500 YARDS. THEN I LOST ALL POWER. THE ENGINE WAS IDLING BUT NO POWER. I HAD TO HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. *TR
VEHICLE BEGINS TO LOOSE POWER/ STALL. THE "WRENCH" LIGHT ILLUMINATES ON THE DASH. AFTER PULLING OVER AND RESTARTING, IT WILL GO ANOTHER 5 - 10 MILES AND IT DOES IT AGAIN. AFTER 2 - 3 TIMES IT WILL THROW THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT (CODE P2112). WE CHECKED/ CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY AND CLEARED THE CODE. CAR RAN OK FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS (50 MILES), AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. WE ARE LOOKING INTO HIRING AN ATTORNEY AS FORD DOES NOT WANT TO HELP COVER THE COST TO REPAIR THIS DEFECT. I HAVE TWO YOUNG CHILDREN THAT RIDE IN THIS CAR, AND UNCONTROLLED STALLING AND SPUTTERING IS DANGEROUS ON BUSY STREETS. TWICE, THIS HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION, AND AT ONE TIME, IT COMPLETELY DIED GOING 40 MPH, AND THE POWER STEERING QUIT, CAUSING ME TO ALMOST HEAD INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. PLEASE HELP US AND OTHERS WITH THIS ISSUE, BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR LOSES THEIR LIFE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. A FEW DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND WAS INFORMED THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. WE HAD JUST TURNED ONTO OUR STREET, STARTED TO PROCEED UP THE HILL AT ABOUT 35-40 MPH. CAR SUDDENLY WENT UNRESPONSIVE. WRENCH LIGHT INDICATOR LIT UP ON DASHBOARD. STARTED TO IDLE VERY HARD, THEN SURGE, THEN LOW IDLE, THEN SURGE RPM. NO GAS PEDAL RESPONSE AT ALL. LUCKILY WE HAD JUST GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY, AND WERE CLOSE TO HOME. HOWEVER, WE WERE GOING UPHILL. WE HAD JUST ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO GET OVER THE HILL AND COAST DOWN TO OUR DRIVEWAY. UPON PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK IN OUR DRIVEWAY, THE RPM'S WERE FLUCTUATING FROM ALMOST 0, THEN SHOOTING BACK UP TO OVER 2500. FROM WANTING TO STALL, TO WANTING TO RACE AHEAD. IN RESEARCHING, I HAVE SEEN THIS DESCRIBED AS A FAULTY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY, WHICH APPARENTLY HAS AFFECTED OVER 725,000 OF THESE VEHICLES AND STILL WITHOUT RECALL. THIS IS INSANE AND HIGHLY DANGEROUS IF YOU ARE TRAVELING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC OR ON THE HIGHWAY AS YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE JUST WANTING TO STOP DEAD. WE WERE LUCKY IN THAT WE WERE ALREADY OFF OF THE INTERSTATE AND CLOSE TO HOME. PLEASE, PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE FURTHER! OUR NORMAL WARRANTY HAS JUST EXPIRED OF COURSE, AND THEY SAY THIS IS NOT COVERED BY THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. GREAT, WE HAVE TO PAY NOT ONLY FOR THE CAR, BUT FOR IT'S DEFECTS AS WELL. AFTER THE APRIL 30, 2013 (54,367MILES) INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE FORD DEALER AND ON AUG 4TH (58,700+/- MILES), THE SAME SYMPTOMS APPEARED WHILE DRIVING ON OPEN FREEWAY 65 MPH WITH ROLLING HILLS. THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A POWER DROP AND SURGE WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFTING. A WARNING LIGHT--MECHANIC WRENCH TURNED ON AND THEN THERE WAS A DIFFERENT ENGINE/TRANSMISSION SOUND AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF GEAR BY ITSELF SO WE PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL AND ROLLED TO A STOP. THE CAR WAS TOWED APPROX 70MILES TO THE SAME FORD DEALER NEAR OUR HOME. WE ARE WAITING FOR THE SERVICE DEPT TO RETURN OUR CALLS AND PROVIDE THE DETAIL TECHNICAL INFORMATION OF FAULT CODES ETC AND HOW THEY PLAN TO REPAIR IT AGAIN. SAME CONDITION, APPEARS TO BE AN ENGINEERING DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING DEFECT OF SPECIFIC COMPONENTS, (THROTTLE BODY, TRANSMISSION). *TR
WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT MY VEHICLE SEEMED TO LOSE POWER AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I LIMPED MY CAR TO A PARKING LOT AND ONCE SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED IT SEEMED FINE. IT WORKED FINE FOR 3-4 DAYS AND IT OCCURRED TWICE ON MY WAY TO WORK WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. ONCE AGAIN THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND ONCE SHUT DOWN AND STARTED FINE. THE SECOND TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO CAME ON. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC I KNOW AND TRUST AND SAID THE CODE THAT CAME UP WAS P2111 AND I WOULD NEED TO BRING IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED TO THE SHOULDER WHERE IT WAS SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE THEN RESUMED NORMAL FUNCTION. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL WEEKS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
MY HUSBAND AND I WERE DRIVING FROM DOWNTOWN COLUMBUS BACK TO OUR HOME AND WE WERE IN BETWEEN MULTIPLE CARS ON THE FREEWAY. WHILE GOING 65 MPH THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLIGHTLY JERK AND LOOSE SPEED. THE VEHICLES AROUND US AND BEHIND US WERE ATTEMPTING TO AVOID CRASHING INTO US. WE ABOUT HALF A MILE FROM THE NEAREST EXIT AND BY THE TIME WE MADE IT TO THE RAMP WE WERE ONLY GOING 35 MPH. THERE WAS NO WHERE TO SAFELY PULL OVER ON THE FREEWAY DUE TO ONGOING CONSTRUCTION. IT WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND I FELT AS THOUGH WE COULD HAVE BEEN IN A POTENTIALLY DEADLY ACCIDENT. THROUGHOUT THIS ORDEAL THE THROTTLE CONTROL/POWERTRAIN LIGHT WAS ON. ONCE WE GOT OFF ON THE NEAREST EXIT WE WERE FORCED TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. WE OBVIOUSLY COULD NOT USE THE GAS TO GO FORWARD AND IT WAS SCARY BECAUSE WE HAD TRAFFIC BEHIND US. WE TURNED THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY OFF AND RESTARTED IT RIGHT THERE ON THE EXIT RAMP AND TO OUR SURPRISE THE VEHICLE STARTED UP AND THE LIGHT WAS OFF. AFTER READING HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME INCIDENT OCCUR TO THEM WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE I AM SHOCKED THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE SOMEONE DOES SOMETHING ABOUT THIS? WHAT IF MY 2 YEAR OLD HAD BEEN IN THE VEHICLE ON THE FREEWAY AND SOMEONE HIT US BECAUSE WE WERE UNABLE TO AVOID A CRASH? NOW I KNOW THAT I SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE IT APPEARS THAT THIS WILL CONTINUE FROM WHAT I HAVE READ AND I AM SUPPOSED TO GIVE MONEY TO FORD TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT IS NOT MY FAULT... *SHAKING MY HEAD*, SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, MY CAR SUDDENLY LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND I COULD NO LONGER CONTINUE DOWN THE ROAD. I PULLED OVER AND MY CAR WAS RUNNING EXTREMELY ROUGH. IT ALMOST FELT LIKE THE CAR WAS BUCKING DUE TO A NOVICE DRIVING A MANUAL TRANSMISSION - NOTE THAT THIS WAS WHEN I WAS PARKED AS WELL AS WHEN I WAS DECELERATING. I NOTICED THE ORANGE WRENCH LIT UP ON MY DASH AND GOT A TOW TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME AND LET ME KNOW IT WAS A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE AND IT HAS BEEN REPLACED. MY CAR ONLY HAD 48K ON IT AND THERE IS NO WAY IN MY OPINION THAT THIS SHOULD HAPPEN. I FEEL LIKE I'M HAVING MONEY STOLEN FROM MY WALLET DUE TO THE FACT FORD IS FULLY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT IS NOT TAKING PROACTIVE STEPS TO FIX IT. *TR
VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND STARTED TO STALL AND SHUT OFF AT 55 MPH. THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN AND THE ENGINE LIGHT AND WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED. VEHICLE WAS SHUTTERING AND SLOWING DOWN WITH THE ENGINE CUTTING OUT. I IMMEDIATELY ATTEMPTED TO GET OFF THE ROAD IN ORDER TO NOT HAVE A REAR END ACCIDENT WITH ANY SPEEDING VEHICLES TRAVELING BEHIND THE CAR. ONCE CAR WAS SHUT OFF, VEHICLE HAD A CLICKING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE CAR OVER TO START, THEN RESTARTED TO A NORMAL CONDITION. AT 45 MPH ON A CITY STREET, 3 DAYS LATER THE SAME STALL AND ENGINE CUT OUT OCCURRED. *TR
VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER WHILE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM REMAINED ON. UNABLE TO SUPPLY FUEL TO THE ENGINE. VEHICLE COASTED TO A STOP. WAS IN PASSING LANE AT THE TIME, WITH TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. ABLE TO PULL OFF HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED WITHOUT ICON LIGHTS. DROVE APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES, SAME SITUATION. VEHICLE RESTARTED WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINING ON. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER FOR REPAIR. DIAGNOSTIC CODES INDICATED A FAILED THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. THIS WAS A NON-WARRANTY REPAIR COSTING $608.80 PLUS RENTAL CAR. *TR

CAR SHUT DOWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE POWER TRAIN LIGHT CAME UP. TURN IT OFF THEN BACK ON AND IT WAS FINE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THE CHARGED $109 JUST FOR INSPECTION AND WANT $560 FOR REPAIR AND LABOR. *TR
LEFT TURN FORM A STOP AND ENGINE WENT TO IDLE, NO ACCELERATION. SHUT ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED , NORMAL. DROVE HOME THREE MILES AND PARKED. WON'T DRIVE UNTIL PROBLEM IS CORRECTED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON I-64 WESTBOUND IN THE FAR LEFT HOV LANE IN NEWPORT NEWS, VIRGINIA AROUND 4:30 P.M. ON AUGUST 2 DURING RUSH HOUR WHEN MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE, WHICH WAS ON CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 60 MPH, SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING. I PRESSED THE PEDAL AND IT CONTINUED TO DECELERATE AND STARTED TO SHAKE. I PUT ON MY EMERGENCY FLASHERS. MY HUSBAND AND I ALMOST GOT HIT NUMEROUS TIMES BY CARS TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF UP TO 65 MILES PER HOUR, AS I WAS FORCED TO CROSS FOUR LANES OF SPEEDING TRAFFIC TO REACH THE RIGHT SHOULDER. I FEARED THAT HAD MY CAR STOPPED BEFORE REACHING THE SHOULDER, ANOTHER CAR WOULD HAVE EASILY SLAMMED INTO THE REAR OF MY VEHICLE, CAUSING MAJOR BODILY HARM OR DEATH. AFTER NUMEROUS NEAR-COLLISIONS, I MADE IT SAFELY TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. AT THAT POINT, MY HEART WAS RACING AND MY HANDS WERE TREMBLING. MY HUSBAND AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED!!! MY CAR IS NOW SITTING AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP WITH NO ESTIMATED TIME OF REPAIR. I DEPEND UPON MY AUTOMOBILE FOR TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM WORK, AS WELL AS OTHER PLACES. PLEASE HELP ME. *TR
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE ACCELERATOR BECAME USELESS AND I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURN THE IGNITION OFF AND BACK ON AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE AT THAT POINT. THIS HAPPENED ON 4 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER FOR AN ANALYSIS OF THE SITUATION. THE DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND CHARGED ME $159.13 FOR THE PART AND LABOR. *TR
CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MILES PER HOUR.THIS SITUATION HAPPENED AFTER I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A FUEL SERVICE. THE CAR STALLING WAS AWFUL. IT WAS THE THIRD TIME IT HAPPENED DURING THAT WEEK. THE ENGINE SERVICE SOON SIGN WENT ON AFTER THE INCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING MY CAR WITH MY 2 YEARS OLD DAUGHTER IN THE BACKSEAT. IT WAS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. I WAS LUCKY NOT TO BE HIT BY OTHER CARS. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE SERVICE AGAIN AND THEY SAID IT WAS A FAILURE OF THE THROTTLE BODY. THEY CHARGED ME 600 DOLLARS FOR A REPLACEMENT. I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THIS SITUATION BECAUSE IT LOOKED LIKE A MALFUNCTION. THE CAR IS UNDER 20000 MILES AND I KEEP IT IN TIP TOP CONDITION. *TR
ON 6/18/2013 I WAS DRIVING AROUND 45 MPH AND MY ESCAPE'S ENGINE/POWER TRAIN COMPLETELY TURNED OFF AND I COASTED ONTO THE SHOULDER. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND IT STARTED AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO A GARAGE WE USE AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. A FEW DAYS LATER THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AGAIN WHEN I WAS DRIVING AROUND 60 MPH. I COASTED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY, WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED IT AGAIN. ON 8/2/2013 THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN ONCE AGAIN. THIS TIME THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I PAID OVER $600 TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED AT THIS TIME. *TR
THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY ENGINE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON AND OFF FOR LAST 2 YEARS THEN AT THE LAST TIMES CAR WOULD SHUT OFF. *TR
WHEN DRIVING A WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD NO POWER TO THE ACCELERATION PEDAL BUT THE ENGINE NEVER STALLED CAUSING THE CAR TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE PROBLEM WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. HAPPENED MORE THEN ONE TIME LAST TIME WAS AT 59000 MILES FIRST WAS AROUND 40000 MILES. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THEY WERE ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHERE THE CODE INDICATED THE STARTER ACTUATOR WAS STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION. THE MECHANIC CLEANED OUT THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH HELPED THE CONTACT DRIVE HOME BEFORE THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 45 IN HOUSTON, CAR WAS RUNNING, BUT NO POWER FROM THE GAS PEDAL. NEEDED TO COAST TO AN EXIT WHERE I STOPPED COMPLETELY. I NEEDED TO POWER DOWN THE CAR COMPLETELY THEN RESTART THE CAR BEFORE THE GAS PEDAL WORKED AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. THE OTHER TIME WAS ABOUT A MONTH EARLIER. FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID IT WAS A DEFECTIVE "THROTTLE BODY". SOMETHING LIKE THAT SHOULDN'T FAIL SO EARLY. I WAS JUST OUT OF MY WARRANTY AS WELL. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON 3 LANE HIGHWAY (IN TRAFFIC) CAR BUCKED AND LOST GAS PEDAL (DID NOTHING WHEN PUSHED) I WAS IN CENTER LANE ENGINE WENT TO IDOL WITH NO ENGINE CONTROL LOOKED IN MIRROR SEEN TRUCK LIGHTS ( VERY SCARY ) WHEN U CAN'T DO NOTHING LUCKILY ABLE TO GET OFF ROAD . TURNED OFF ENGINE AN RE STARTED IT WHEN A SHORT DISTANCE THEN SAME THING HAPPENED. DID THIS 7 TIMES IN LESS THAN 7 MILES LUCK I MADE IT TO MY DRIVE WAY (HAD TOWED TO DEALER NEXT DAY) WAITING FOR IT TO BE FIXED. THIS IS A DEATH WAITING TO HAPPEN. *TR
THIS HAPPENED TWICE WITH IN ONE WEEK: WRENCH LIGHT TURNED ON AND ACCELERATOR FAILED TO WORK WHILE NAVIGATING IN CITY TRAFFIC. WAS FORCED TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHILE CARS SPED PAST ME. ONCE SAFELY OUT OF TRAFFIC I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND WAITED A FEW MOMENTS. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON IT OPERATED CORRECTLY. A MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE ANY CODES IN THE CAR'S COMPUTER THAT WOULD INDICATE A PROBLEM, BUT THE CAR WAS CLEARLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
LEFT WORK, AND AS STARTED UP A ROAD, THE CAR STALLED AND WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME AS I WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED I PULLED OVER, RESTARTED CAR, LOOKED UP LIGHT, PROCEEDED. IT STALLED TWO MORE TIMES BEFORE I GOT HOME (DRIVING IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE SO COULD GET OUT OF MOVING TRAFFIC QUICKLY , THE THIRD TIME THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. GETTING IT TO THE DEALER THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO THE DEALER, WHO CONFIRMED IT WAS THE THROTTLE THAT NEEDED REPLACING. *TR
THE CAR STALLS OUT AND LOSES POWER WITHOUT WARNING DURING OPERATION. SPEED AT THE TIME IS IRRELEVANT. PEOPLE WILL DIE BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. ITS INEVITABLE. DON'T WAIT FOR A FAMILY OF 4 TO STALL OUT ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY GOING 65 MPH CAUSING AN 8 CAR PILE UP INVOLVING A TRACTOR TRAILER AND CATASTROPHIC INJURIES/FATALITIES. RECALL THE CARS. SAVE LIVES. *TR
VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. NOW VEHICLE SHUTS OFF EVERY TIME WHEN DRIVEN AROUND 40-45 AND 55-60. *TR
THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO BE STALLING OUT AND HAS NO THROTTLE. THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON, THE CARS SEEMS TO BE SPUTTERING, BUT THERE IS NO DRIVE WHEN YOU PUSH ON THE GAS PEDAL. SO FAR I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STOP, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, SHUT IT OFF AND THEN ON, AND THE WRENCH GOES AWAY AND THE CAR RUNS. IT HAS HAPPENED NOW 4 OR FIVE TIMES IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS. *TR
WAS DRIVING AND SUV SUDDENLY WOULD NOT CONTINUE AT CURRENT SPEED, HAD GAS MASHED BUT SUV WOULD ONLY GO 3 MILES AN HOUR. WAS TURNING ACROSS 2 LANES OF TRAFFIC WHEN IT HAPPENED. HAD TO CALL AND GET HELP TO GET MYSELF TO WORK. *TR
MY 17 YER OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND VEHICLE LOST POWER AND IMMEDIATLEY SLOWED QUICKLY. THERE WERE VEHICLES IN FRONT AND IN BACK OF HER AT THE TIME AND SINCE THE VEHICLE SLOWED ON IT'S OWN, THERE WERE NO BRAKE LIGHTS TO WARN TRAFFIC AROUND HER THAT SHE WAS SLOWING. VERY SCARY SITUATION. FORD DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A BAD THROTTLE BODY, WITH A 2 MONTH WAIT FOR THE PART DUE TO HIGH NUMBER OF FORD VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM (PART ON BACKORDER). I AM GUESSING WITH A 2 MONTH WAIT ON A PART, THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF FORD OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCE. THOUGHT THIS WAS A JOKE, BUT AFTER CALLING OTHER FORD DEALERSHIPS AND CHECKING THE INTERNET SOON FOUND OUT MY DUAGHTERS EXPERINCE WAS NOT UNIQUE.
IT, HAS HAPPEN VARIOUS TIMES SINCE AUGUST, AS I DRIVE, THE ENGINE START TO EITHER MISFIRE OR NO POWER AT ALL, IT IDLE NORMAL BUT AS SOONEST I STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR START THE PROBLEM, HAS LIGHT THE CHECK ENGINE SEVERAL TIMES AND AS THE MECHANIC SCANS THE VEHICLE THE ONLY CODE THAT SHOWS IS P2111, THE LAST TIME THAT HAPPENS, HAVE TO USE A TOWING SERVICE BECAUSE CAN GET IT MOVING, BEFORE I USED TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF, WAIT SEVERAL SECONDS AND STARTED AGAIN AND THE SITUATION DISAPPEARS FOR A FEW DAYS AND APPEARS BACK AGAIN. WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AS A FAMILY WITH 4 TOTAL PEOPLE IN THE CAR. THE ENGINE AND MOTOR LOST TOTAL POWER. YOU COULD PUT YOUR FOOT TO THE FLOOR ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE NO POWER AND NOT REV UP WITH NO RPM. WE ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED AND BLASTED FROM BEHIND BY A SEMI-TRUCK. THE SEMI-TRUCK HAD TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION AND IF THE OUTSIDE LANE HAD BE BLOCKED AND HE WAS NOT ABLE TO CHANGE LANES THEN HE WOULD OF HIT US AS HE SHOWED HIS DISPLEASURE BY BLASTING HIS HORN AT ME AND MY FAMILY AS HE SKATED BY. WE HAD TO COAST OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. ONCE ON THE SHOULDER WITH CARS ZIPPING BY AND CHILDREN SCARED IN THE CAR WE WAS ABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. THEN RESET IT AND RE-START THE CAR AND EVERYTHING WOULD BE FINE AGAIN FOR A WHILE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON BUT AFTER YOU RESET AND RESTART THE CAR THE LIGHT GOES OFF TILL THE NEXT TIME. THIS STARTED AS A RANDOM THING BUT HAS DEVELOPED INTO A DAILY DEAL AND BECOME VERY DANGEROUS IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. THIS HAPPENS DAILY NOW WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 25 MPH PLUS AND HAS NO WARNING SIGN. BEING TOLD IT IS A FAULTY CIRCUIT BOARD IN THE THROTTLE BODY BY THE DEALERSHIP AND A $500 PLUS DEAL TO FIX. THIS OCCURRENCE IS RISKING THE HEALTH, LIVELIHOOD AND SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND KIDS. WEAR AND TEAR MAINTENANCE ON A VEHICLE I AM OK WITH FIXING BUT A FACTORY FAULTY CIRCUIT BOARD IS NOT ONE OF THOSE PARTS AND IS ON THE LIABILITY OF FORD MOTOR COMPANY AS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT.

AFTER A MINUTE I TURNED OFF AND THEN RESTARTED THE VEHICLE WITHOUT PROBLEM. APPROXIMATELY 8-10 MILES DOWN THE ROAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AROSE. PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED ONCE AGAIN. ADDITIONALLY, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AN STAYED ON. PREVIOUSLY, OVER THE PAST YEAR I HAVE EXPERIENCED MORE SUBTLE ISSUES WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE IN WHICH THE VEHICLE SORT OF HICCUPS AND THEN EVENTUALLY BEGINS TO ACCELERATE. HAD THE ENGINE CODE READ AND DETERMINED THE 2112 CODE IDENTIFIED A STUCK THROTTLE. *TR
I WAS EXITING OFF THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY VEHICLE SHIFTED AND THEN STARTED LOSING SPEED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE STREET AND PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND BRING THE CAR TO A COMPLETE STOP. SO I TOOK IT TO A CAR REPAIR SHOP AND LEARNED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS THE CAUSE AND HAS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 6 MOS AND IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY MORNING HIGHWAY MY THROTTLE WENT OUT. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE AND HAD TO IMMEDIATELY PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND FIND A WAY OUT OF TRAFFIC, WITH NO WAY TO ACCELERATE. WHILE DRIVING AT INTERSTATE SPEED VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND I WAS FORCED TO PULL OVER AND STOP. ENGINE DID NOT QUIT RUNNING, JUST NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN GAS PEDDLE IS PUSHED. I COULD NOT MOVE MY CAR FOR ABOUT A MINUTE WHILE I PARKED MY CAR AND TURNED EVERYTHING OFF, INCLUDING OPENING THE CAR DOOR TO SHUT THE COMPUTER OFF. THEN AFTER RESETTING THE CAR, IT STRUGGLED TO START UP BUT STARTED AND DROVE AS USUAL. WITHIN THE LAST TWO DAYS, MY CAR SHUT DOWN DURING DRIVING 5 TIMES AND WHEN RE-STARTING, IT DID NOT INDICATE THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. FINALLY THE CHECK ENGINE ICON TURNED ON AND I WAS ABLE TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK THE CODE. IT TURNED OUT THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED REPLACING. MY CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD WITH AVERAGE MILEAGE. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AN TERRIBLE ACCIDENT IF THERE WAS A TRAIN AND I WAS IN A STATE OF PANIC. *TR
WHILE ON A TWO LANE ROAD DRIVING 40 MPH, THE ENGINE IN MY 2010 FORD ESCAPE STARTED TO SPUTTER AS IF IT WAS GOING TO DIE. IT DID NOT, BUT IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE INCIDENT I WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO ACCELERATE MY VEHICLE. THE ENGINE DID NOT REV, THE CAR REMAINED ON BUT JUST COASTED. THE NEXT DAY I EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM ON A 4 LANE ROAD GOING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND COULD HAVE HAD A FATAL OUTCOME. AS I WAS ENTERING MY NEIGHBORHOOD, I NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE'S GAS PEDAL WAS NO LONGER WORKING. I LOOKED AT THE DASH AND NOTICED THAT A WRENCH ICON ON THE LOWER LEFT OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS LIT. THE ESCAPE WAS STILL GOING, BUT WAS NOT RESPONDING TO THE GAS PEDAL. I TURNED ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND PULLED UP TO THE CURB AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, COUNTED TO 10 AND THEN STARTED IT AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE AGAIN RESPONDED TO THE GAS PEDAL. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT MY EXPERIENCE IS TERMED "LIMP MODE" AND IS ITSELF A SAFETY FEATURE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE WHO HOOKED IT UP TO THEIR DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT AND COULD NOT PULL AN ERROR CODE OFF OF IT. THE TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDED I LOOK INTO THE THROTTLE BODY AND THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. DURING THAT RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT OTHER FORD ESCAPE DRIVERS HAVE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE. *TR
