I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM A MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED AS WELL AS FRONT AND REAR BRAKES. YET WHEN VEHICLE IS OFF YOU FEEL THE BRAKES WHEN YOU TURN ON THE VEHICLE YOU HAVE TO PUT THE PEDAAL TO THE FLOOR TO STOP THE VEHICLE I HAVE SPENT OVER 600 DOLLARS WITH THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE ONLY HAD IT A LITTLE OVER A YEAR. NOT HAPPY
WAS TAKING OUR 3 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER TO GET ICE CREAM WHILE DRIVING SMELL GAS HAD OVER A QUARTER TANK OF GAS DROVE ABOUT 2MILES GAS NEEDLE PLANNED TO EMPTY STOP VEHICLE AT THE NEXT GAS STATION WHICH WAS ABOUT 5 MILES AWAY LIFTED THE HOOD ENGINE WAS SMOKING GAS POURING ON ENGINE GRABBED GRANDDAUGHTER OUT OF VEHICLE CALL LOCAL DEALER HAD THEM TOW IN THE VEHICLE WAS ABOUT 7:30 NEXT MORNING FORD DEALER CALLED AND SAID WERE IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT THE GAS LING FROM THE TANK TO THE MOTOR EXPLODED ...NOW WE ARE VERY UPSET AND REALLY SCARED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WHICH THEY FIXED WITH A NEW GAS LINE...HAVEN'T PICKED THE VEHICLE UP YET
VACUUM PUMP SEIZED UP CAUSING THE BOLT CONNECTING IT TO THE CAMSHAFT TO SHEAR OFF AND DAMAGE THE TURBO'S AND ENGINE. THIS HAPPENED WHILE GOING 70 MPH ON A FREEWAY. I HAD TO USE EVASIVE ACTION TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD.
WHILE ACCELERATING VEHICLE ON A HIGHWAY ON RAMP,STUDDERED, ACTED LIKE ISSUES GOING FROM 1ST GEAR TO 2ND GEAR. UNKNOWN IF POWER TRAIN ISUE OR FUEL/ENGINE ISSUE. WAS LOOKED AT BY SHOP SAME DAY PROBLEM WOULD NOT REOCCUR..

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (BANNER FORD, LOCATED AT 1943 N CAUSEWAY BLVD MANDEVILLE, LA 70471) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PARTS NEEDED TO BE ORDERED AND WOULD NOT ARRIVE UNTIL AUGUST 29TH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,381. AROUND 10 MONTHS AGO WE PUT A NEW TRANSMISSION IN THIS CAR AT A FORD DEALERSHIP, TWO WEEKS LATER THE CAR OVERHEATED. $750 LATER WE KNOW IT THE ENGINE IS CRACKED. STILL OWE LIKE $9,000 ON IT... THIS CAR HAD ALL OIL CHANGES AND EVERYTHING HAS NEEDED.
OUR 2013 FORD ESCAPE SEL HAS BEEN STALLING OUT WHILE DRIVING. OUR VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PREVIOUS RECALL BUT THE SYMPTOMS ATE EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED IN 2.0 LITER RECALL. THIS EVENT HAPPENS EVERY COUPLE DAYS SOMETIMES TWICE A DAY. IT TENDS TO HAPPEN SHORTLY AFTER STARTING AND MERGING/TURNING FROM A STOP/INTERSECTION. WE'VE TAKEN IT TO A FORD DEALER BUT THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO FIX IT. SEEMS LIKE A BIG SAFETY ISSUE TO STALL WHILE DRIVING.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CARRIAGE FORD INC AT (812) 284-4444 (908 E LEWIS AND CLARK PKWY, CLARKSVILLE, IN 47129) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE CONTACT NOTICED COOLANT HAD LEAKED ONTO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THE DIAGNOSIS WAS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE COOLANT ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT RETURNED TO CARRIAGE FORD INC, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V551000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
STARTED VEHICLE AND THE WIPERS CAME ON AUTOMATICALLY AND WOULD NOT SHUT OFF (DESPITE THE WIPERS BEING IN THE OFF POSITION). THE CAR WAS STATIONARY. TURNED CAR OFF. IMMEDIATELY TURNED CAR BACK ON AND THE WIPERS WOULD NOT WORK AT ALL. WIPERS WILL NOT WORK WHEN RAINING AND GO FROM CONSTANTLY WORKING TO NOT WORKING AT ALL FOR NO REASON. VERY DANGEROUS IF IT IS RAINING, SNOWING, OR ANY PRECIPITATION IN THE SKY.
AT TIMES, ENGINE FAULT - SERVICE IMMEDIATELY WARNING APPEARS UPON STARTING CAR. CAR HESITATES, JERKS AND HAS LIMITED ACCELERATION. BOTH MAP SENSORS HAVE BEEN CHANGED. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. FORD REFUSES TO REPLACE WIRING HARNESS AT THEIR COST. ESCAPES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS MATTER. HOWEVER, FORD IS SAYING THAT OURS IS NOT COVERED UNDER PREVIOUSLY ISSUED RECALLS.
FIRST COMPLAINT IS THE INTERNAL DOOR PANELS DO NOT PROPERLY FIT AND COME LOOSE BECOMING CAUGHT ON THE FRAME OF THE CAR NOT ALLOWING YOU TO OPEN THE DOOR TO EXIT THE VEHICLE WHICH IS HIGHLY DANGEROUS IN AN EMERGENCY. 2) THE SHIFT SELECTOR SWITCH BROKE AS MY SPOUSE WAS DRIVING THE CAR NOT ALLOWING HIM TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO PARK OR SHUT IT OFF. THIS IS HIGHLY DANGEROUS AND QUITE COMMON A MECHANICS TOLD US.
COOLANT LEAKING FROM ENGINE REQUIRING NEW COOLANT RESERVOIR, THERMOSTAT, BELT AND PULLEY. $1500. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL COMES ON INDICATING POSSIBLE VALVE ISSUE CAUSING CAR TO OVERHEAT. DIAGNOSTIC CODE P26B7
AFTER PURCHASING A 2103 FORD ESCAPE ABOUT SIX MONTHS LATER I NOTICED A LOW COOLANT LIGHT ON IN THE VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHO REPORTED THE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE NEEDED REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY SO I PAID OUT OF POCKET FOR THE REPAIR. SIX MONTHS LATER THE LOW COOLANT LIGHT IS ON AGAIN AND HEADING TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ANOTHER REPAIR. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND THE REPEATED REPAIRS. WE AS OWNERS OF FORD ESCAPE SHOULD NOT BE ASSUMING THE COST OF REPAIR EVERY SIX MONTHS FOR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE ON A RECALL LIST.
PARKED THE VEHICLE ONE EVENING. AN HOUR LATER, STARTED IT UP, NO EPAS. NO WARNING, JUST QUIT. DRIVES LIKE A LOG TRUCK. THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2008-2011 MODELS FOR THIS PROBLEM. HOPING THIS GETS EXPANDED TO COVER 2013. COST ~$1500.

I HAVE SEEN 855 COMPLAINTS FOR SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME VEHICLE.... I HAVE REPLACED 2 OF THE SAME SENSORS AT METRO FOR SCHENECTADY... WHEN IS THERE GOING TO BE A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE? THERE ARE NUMOROUS TIMES THIS HAPPENED
THERE IS A GAS SMELL INSIDE THE CABIN. IT IS VERY NOTICABLE ON SHORT TRIPS
I WAS SOLD THE CAR WITH A DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP AND NEVER WARNED THAT IT NEEDED TO BE RECALLED, THEREFORE, I HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT FOR OVER A YEAR WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF IT STARTING ON FIRE. ALSO, RECENTLY THE POWER TRAIN WENT ON MY CAR ALMOST EXACTLY ONE MONTH AFTER THE WARRANTY WAS UP. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT MANY OTHER FORD ESCAPE OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS EXACT ISSUE. I WAS EVEN TOLD BY ONE MECHANIC THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH FORD ESCAPES AMONGST MECHANICS. WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION IT "CLUNKS" AND DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY. I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF OTHERS WHO MAY BE DRIVING THESE CARS WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT.
NO MATTER HOW MUCH GAS IS IN THE TANK THERE IS A CHANCE OF THE ENGINE STALLING. THIS STALLING OCCURS AT RANDOM. IN TRAFFIC THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. SO FAR WE HAVE HAD 3 CLOSE CALLS AFTER STALLING. MY CAR ENGINE HAS STALLED A TOTAL OF 8 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF. 65K MILES AND HAS NOT HAD ANY OTHER GAS LINE PROBLEMS. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL AND FORD NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY BEFORE SOMEONE DIES FROM THE CAR STALLING WHILE IN TRAFFIC. THE CAR WOULD STALL WHILE IN MOTION IN A STREET. THE CAR WOULD STALL AFTER START. THE CAR WILL STALL ON A HIGHWAY. THE CAR WOULD STALL WHILE TURNING.

THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE MESSAGE DISPLAYED HOURS AFTER CHECKING THE COOLANT LEVELS, WHICH WERE NORMAL. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, COOLANT WAS FOUND UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. *TT
WHILE DRIVING FORD 2013 ESCAPE, LOSS COMPLETE POWER STEERING CONTROL, THANKFULLY AT A LOW SPEED. CAR DID BECOME COMPLETELY UNDRIVEABLE. NO NOISE OR WARNINGS LIGHTS CAME ON UNTIL AFTER POWER STEERING WAS LOSS. LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO STOP AND RESTART CAR BUT DID NOT RESOLVE SITUATION. CONTACTED FORD COMPANY OF PROBLEM AND WAS NOT ABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. FORD REFUSED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OR COVER COST OF THEIR OWN FAILED PRODUCT. COST OF REPAIR QUOTED AT $1500.00 ON A CAR WITH ONLY 47,000 MILES.

NHTSA SITE AND CHECKED VIN TO SEE IF RECALL ON MY VEHICLE AND THERE WAS ONE 9/16 FOR DOOR LATCH. I NEVER RECEIVED CONTACT ABOUT THE RECALL. JUST FOUND THIS OUT TODAY 7/28/17 BY LOOKING FOR MYSELF.
IN 7/2017 WE HAD ALERT LIGHTS OF ENGINE DEFAULT, HILL ASSIST GO ON. IT HAD A REPLACEMENT PART ABS THAT DIDN'T CORRECT PROBLEM. NEXT TIME ON MY WAY TO THE DEALER LOTS OF LIGHTW WENT ON AND I WENT INTO SAFE MODE A FEW HUNDRED FEET FROM DEALER, FIVE MINUTES EARLIER AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE FREEWAY. A DIFF PART WAS REPLACED. SAME PROBLEM THEN NEXT TIME IT WENT INTO SAFE MODE AND I HAD IT TOWED. THIS VEHICLE AND YEAR APPARENTLY HAD ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC ISSUES. I FEEL THIS IS AN UNSAFE SITUATION! I TOOK FROM 7/26/2017 TO 10/18/2017 TO GET THINGS CORRECTED AND I DON'T KNOW IF THEY ARE
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND THE SUNROOF JUST EXPLODED ALL OVER HER AND MY DAUGHTER. SHE WAS IN AN AREA WHERE NOTHING COULD HAVE FALLEN ON IT. SHE SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT.

THE CAR RUNS EXTREMELY ROUGH WHEN IN MOTION OR SITTING WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING THE CAR ALSO IS USING A LOT OF GAS SOMETIMES WHEN I NEED TO PULL OFF FROM A STOP LIGHT IT EXCELLORATE OR HESITATE OR CUT OFF COMPLETELY. IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE ENGINE AND COOLANT WARNING INDICATORS RANDOMLY ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. ALSO, THE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOORBOARD AREA WAS NOT STRUCTURALLY SOUND AND BEGAN BUCKLING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 146,000.
THE POWER STEERING INTERMITTANTLY GOES OUT AND THE VEHICLE BECOMES HARD ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL. MY 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND WENT TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN AND WAS ALMOST OFF OF THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE SHE WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE THE TURN BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING FAILED
TAKATA RECALL: ENGINE LIGHT ON MESSAGE ENGINE FAILURE!!! KIT-TERM AB PART # 3U2Z.14A088 PART $17.40 WIRE $1.74 LABOR $558.00 TOTAL AT FORD DEALERSHIP $577.14 + $99 TO RUN THE TEST! THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. FORD NEEDS TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE. IT'S A FAULTY PART. I TOOK IT IN RIGHT AWAY AS YOU SHOULD WITH ANY ENGINE LIGHT. THE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I STARTED IT ONE DAY AND ONLY DROVE IT TO DEALERSHIP.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROADWAY AND TURN OFF THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP FAILED. THE WATER PUMP WAS REPLACED AND THE COOLANT WAS REFILLED. THE NEXT DAY, WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THICK, BLACK SMOKE WAS SEEN COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TURBO FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. TWO DAYS LATER, WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, A STRONG FUEL ODOR WAS DETECTED IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS UNKNOWN, BUT THE MECHANIC STATED THAT FUEL LEAKS WERE A COMMON ISSUE WITH FORD VEHICLES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 12V551000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AND 12V336000 (FUEL SYSTEM,GASOLINE). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
BOTH REAR DOORS ARE RUSTING FROM THE INSIDE OUT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE DOORS. THIS WAS NOTICED TWO MONTHS AGO.
SHOCK MOUNT BROKE AND SHAFT ON SHOCK PUNCHED THRU WHEEL WELL.
COOLANT WATER PUMP FAILURE, AFTER BELT COME OFF LOCKING STEERING WHEEL
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the backup camera intermittently failed to operate as needed. The contact had initially taken the vehicle to a dealer where the mechanic was unable to diagnose the failure. Recently, the contact stated that the backup camera failed to operate as needed and was completely blank. The contact then took the vehicle to Southgate Lincoln, LLC (16800 Fort St, Southgate, MI 48195) where he had the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and was informed that since the vehicle was not under recall, they could not offer any assistance. The vehicle had been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000
GAS LEAKING. FORD SAID THAT THE VIN NUMBER ON MY CAR IS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE SAME MAKE, MODEL,ENGINE AND YEAR MANUFACTURED IS BEING RECALLED FOR THIS REASON.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
IF THIS HAPPENED ON THE INTERSTATE WE COULD BE KILLED(DEAD). OUR ESCAPE HAS ONLY 10,800 MILES ON IT, AND IS DRIVEN BY MY WIFE. SHE DROVE IT IN TOWN FOR ABOUT 15 MILES 2 DAYS PREVIOUSLY. ON THIS DAY, SHE STARTED THE CAR. IDLED IT FOR ABOUT 3 MINUTES, PUT IT IN GEAR AND 400 FT. LATER THE DASH LIGHT SAID SHUT DOWN ENGINE, OVERHEAT. THE GAS PEDAL WAS IN OP.. THE CAR WOULD ONLY GO ABOUT 1 MILE PER HOUR. NO MATTER WHAT I DID TO THE GAS PEDAL IT WOULD NOT ALLOW THE CAR TO DO MORE THAN IDLE. I CHECKED UNDER THE HOOD AND SAW NO LEAKS, THE RADIATOR RESERVOIR WAS ABOUT 1/2 FULL. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO LANDMARK FORD IN SPFD, IL 5 DAYS LATER THEY TOLD ME THAT THE RADIATOR HOSE HAD A HOLE IN IT. (THEY THREW THE HOSE AWAY AND WOULD NOT LET ME SEE IT) WE HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO LEAKAGE STAINS ON OUR DRIVEWAY. THEY CHARGED ME $429.49 TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR HOSE. I CHECKED THE COST OF THE MOTORCRAFT HOSE AT THE AUTOPARTS STORE IT WAS $28.66. I AM LONG AGO RETIRED , BUT WAS CERTIFIED IN MANY DIFFERENT ENGINE REPAIR TYPES. THE 1ST THING WE ALWAYS CHECKED WAS THE THERMOSTAT. THEY DID NOT TEST OR REPLACE THE THERMOSTAT ACCORDING TO THEIR BILL. I SUSPECT FRAUD FROM THE DEALER, BUT THIS IS NOT YOUR CONCERN. WHAT IS THE CONCERN IS THE PROBABLE CAUSE OF INJURY OR DEATH WHEN THE ENGINE COMPUTER LIGHTS THE DASH AND STOPS THE ACCELERATOR FUNCTION. ON A HIGHWAY THAT CAN AND PROBABLY WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.. I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND WENT TO USE MY BRAKES AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING I.E. BRAKE/ABS WARNING LIGHTS MY BRAKES WENT OUT. I WAS ABLE TO AVOID ANY COLLISIONS WITH OTHER VEHICLES BY MANUALLY DOWN SHIFTING AND USING MY EMERGENCY BRAKE. I WAS ABLE TO FINALLY COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BY UTILIZING ALL THE ABOVE PLUS USE BOTH OF MY FEET TO PUSH BRAKES HARD ENOUGH TO COME TO A SLOW STOP. I TURNED THE CAR OFF WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND BACK ON SINCE THIS VEHICLE ALREADY HAD SERIOUS MALFUNCTION AT 10,000 MILES OF RANDOMLY STALLING WITHOUT WARNING DUE TO FAULTY WIRE HARNESS WHICH FINALLY GOT RECALLED A YEAR LATER. TURNED IT BACK ON AND STILL NO BRAKES. TOOK IT TO FORD DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE BRAKING SYSTEM HAD A LOT OF DEBRIS IN IT AND BRAKE BOOSTER, MASTER CYLINDER AND OTHER BRAKING COMPONENTS WHERE AT FAULT. NOW THE DEALER HAS REPLACED ALL THE PARTS BUT STILL SAY IT IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND THEY ARE WAITING FOR GUIDANCE FROM FORD ENGINEERS. THIS IS THE SAME ROUTE I HAD TO GO DOWN WITH MY WIRE HARNESS AT 10,000. THE VEHICLE HAS 100,000 MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES ON IT AND I WOULD NOT EXPECT FOR BRAKES TO JUST GO OUT WITHOUT ANY NOTICE OR BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHTS. AS OF NOW STILL AT DEALER WAITING FOR ENGINEERS TO CALL IN WITH A "FIX". I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY IN THIS VEHICLE AND THE BRAKE SYSTEM/ELECTRICAL SYSTEM NEED TO INVESTIGATED. WHO KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE MAY HAVE ALREADY OR ARE AT RISK OF LOSING THEIR BRAKES WITHOUT WARNING AND IT WILL NOT SHOW UP BECAUSE NO WARNING SENSOR/LIGHTS ARE ON.

THE MANUFACTURER HAD A TSB, BUT THERE WAS NO MANUFACTURER RECALL TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,159.
THIS VEHICLE HAS SOME SORT OF A COOLANT ISSUE.I HAVE BEEN PLAGUE WITH THIS AT LEAST 4 TIMES, IT NOTIFIES THE ENGINE THAT IT IS RUNNING HOT AND THEN IT GOES INTO A LIMP MODE PHASE IN WHICH IT STOPS RUNNING.IT HAS DONE THIS ON THE EXPRESS WAY WHILE I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK,TWO TIMES ON THE NEIGHBOR STREET AND MY DRIVEWAY,,,EACH TIME ON MY WAY TO WORK.WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN AND IT TAKES 8HRS FOR THE VEHICLE TO UNLOCK BEFORE ANYONE CAN WORK ON IT.IT IS NOW AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN WHICH IT IS AWAITING REPAIRS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.HOWEVER NOW THE DEALERSHIP IS TELLING US, MY WIFE AND I THAT THEY MAY HAVE TO BREAK THE WHOLE ENGINE DOWN IN ORDER TO FIND WHATS WRONG WITH VEHICLE.MY QUESTION IS WHY DO WE HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE AT FIRST?
CONTINUAL LOSS OF COOLANT. I TOOK CAR TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE REASON FOR COOLANT LOSS. NO NOTICEABLE EVIDENCE OF LOSS SUCH AS DRIPS OR POOLS OF COOLANT. NO EXPERIENCE OF STALLING OR OVERHEATING AS LONG AS I REPLACE LOST COOLANT ONCE IT REACHES "ADD COOLANT" LEVEL, WHICH OCCURS ABOUT EVERY 4-6 MONTHS. I AM NOT SURE WHEN THIS FIRST OCCURRED AS MY COOLANT WAS "TOPPED OFF" WITH EVERY OIL CHANGE EVERY 6 MONTHS. SINCE I NO LONGER DRIVE MANY MILES I DO NOT CHANGE OIL EVERY 6 MONTHS AND STARTED NOTICING THE LOW COOLANT LEVELS MYSELF IN JUNE 2017 AND HAVE BEEN ADDING COOLANT MYSELF SINCE THEN.

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SPROUSE AUTO, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD RECEIVE A CALL BACK AFTER 15 DAYS. THE MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDED THAT THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE A NOTICE, BUT WAS INFORMED ON 6/13/16 THAT THEY WERE INVOLVED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V584000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000.
2013 FORD ESCAPE SE 1.6 L 4CYL I HOPE THERE IS AN INVESTIGATION THAT IS ON GOING. MY FORD IS OVER HEATING AND SOMETIMES IT WONT START BECAUSE OF A SOFTWARE FIX THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. TURNS OUT IT DELAYS THE INEVITABLE. MY CAR IS NOW AT THE FORD DEALER FOR THE SECOND TIME. TO MAKE THINGS WORSE, I WOKE UP ONE DAY AND MY POWER STEERING DIDNT WORK. I GO TO WORK WITH NO POWER STEERING AND WHEN I START IT AGAIN IT WORKS, VERY WEIRD. ALL IN ALL, I DO NOT THINK FORD DID ENOUGH. THE COOLANT SYSTEM OR THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE AND WAS ONLY LESS THAN 5 MILES FROM HOME, NO WARNING SIGNS NO COMPUTER INDICATING PROBLEMS, NO OIL LEAKS NO COOLANT PROBLEMS. HAPPENED ON MY WAY TO WORK, DRIVING ON A CITY STREET GOING 40MPH, HAPPENED AROUND 615AM. SMOKE -WAS POURING OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, PULLED INTO A 7-11 GAS STATION AND A CONCERNED CITIZEN CAME TO HELP, HE OPENED THE HOOD AND REMOVED THE ENGINE COVER AND I SAW FLAMES COMING FROM THE BACK OF THE ENGINE BY THE FIREWALL, HE USED AN EXTINGUISHER TO PUT IT OUT. CAR WAS TOWED TO MY HOUSE AND INSURANCE CALLED, IT WAS SENT TO A GARAGE PER INSURANCE BUT IT WAS THEN SENT ONTO A FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY ARE NOW LOOKING TO SEE IF IT IS CAUSED BY A RECALL.

MY TRANSMISSION FAILED IN JUNE, IT WAS REBUILT AND HAS ALREADY STARTED TO SHIFT HARD. SO, ONCE AGAIN BACK IN THE SHOP. THE A/C HAS BEEN ACTING FUNNY. THE REAR VENTS BARELY WORK, BLEND DOOR DOESNT ENGAGE PROPERLY. DEALER HAS ANOTHER VEHICLE IDENTICAL TO MINE AND IT DOES THE SAME THING.
RECALL 16V-643 RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE. WHEN I TRIED TO MAKE AN APT FOR REPAIRS TOLD CALL BACK IN A MONTH? I TRANSPORT CHILDREN AND WHY WHEN I RECEIVE A LETTER TELLING ME TO CALL THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS? I OWN TWO 2013 ESCAPES. TOTALLY UNPREPARED FOR THIS RECALL.
