Warning message appeared on dash as I was braking. Reduced braking power. I had pushed on brake pedal almost to the floor & missed turning at a corner. My car also makes noise upon backing up each day.

The dealer informed the contact that a PCM software update had been completed; however, the parts for the repair of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V467000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); was not available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issues. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.
On March 31st, 2026, while traveling at approximately 60 mph on a major highway, the vehicle suffered a catastrophic engine failure without prior warning. The "Check Engine" and "Powertrain Malfunction" (Wrench) lights illuminated, and the vehicle experienced an immediate and total loss of motive power. This created a high-risk safety situation for myself (luckily my daughter was not with me at the time), I was forced navigate through high-speed traffic to the shoulder with no engine propulsion. Technical Confirmation: The vehicle was towed to Dick Smith Ford (Columbia, SC). A diagnostic scan revealed fault code P032F (Combustion Engine Producing Insufficient Torque). The dealership confirmed the failure was internal and required a total Long Block Engine Assembly replacement in accordance with CSP 23NC06 (Reference RO #259050). Failure of Previous Safety Recall: Crucially, this vehicle had already received the "remedy" for Recall 23S27 / NHTSA Campaign 23V440000 (Engine Fire Risk). Despite Ford's claim that the software update and grill shutter modifications mitigated the risk of catastrophic failure and fire, the engine still suffered a major breach and total failure at highway speeds. This demonstrates that the current recall remedy is insufficient to protect occupants from sudden loss of power or potential fire hazards.

Driver side door hinge broke, it’s making it difficult to open and close the door. It’s also making a loud noise when opening and closing the door.

This hasn't caused an accident or stranded me yet, but Ford won't do anything to help me avoid danger in the faulty vehicle they sold. There have been several recalls on my 2022 Ford Escape PHEV over the past year or so, including safety recalls. The number of recalls, requiring me to take the time to deal with scheduling, drop off/pickup the car, and being unable to use the car when it is in the shop for the recall rectifications seems excessive. Worse yet, they have safety related recalls from 2025 that still do not have a fix. I do not feel safe in my car. I went through the company's lemon recall process and they refused to repurchase the vehicle. People should expect a basic level of quality and definitely safety when buying a car. I will never buy another Ford and would never recommend that anyone else do so. This company no longer represents quality and they don't even care to try.
My 22 Ford Escape has 620000 miles on it most of them highway miles. The issue I'm having began approx. 5000 miles ago. While in motion my dash lights, radio, and entertainment screen will go completely black for long periods of time and the chime will begin randomly ringing. A message sometimes appears on screen that says system off to continue please start engine but the engine is running the whole time. Sometime the message will appear on my dash saying front camera not available. I've taken it to a Ford Service station and they advised me my PCM software needed updating but the problem still existed and is existing even after the update. I still have a recall active on my vehicle as well regarding the fuel injector issue.
The following message was displayed on the dash "Steering Assist Fault Service Required". Immediately lost power assisted steering and the steering became difficult (manual steering), mostly at lower speeds. Could have resulted in an accident if it happened while making a turn, as I would not have expected to need that much effort to turn. Car is currently at a Ford Dealership for service. The error message has come on several times in the past at start up, but by restarting the car it went away with no loss of function. This last time, it came on while driving.

The vehicle has experienced repeated electrical failures over an extended period of time despite multiple repair attempts. After the most recent repair, which required the vehicle to be kept for approximately 10 days and included a battery replacement, the same electrical issue returned shortly after the vehicle was returned. The vehicle has previously stalled in traffic, creating a safety concern. In addition, the sunroof collapsed into the passenger compartment while a rear-seat passenger, who was a child, was present. A seat belt malfunction also occurred and required repair. Repairs have been attempted for these issues, but safety-related problems have continued. I do not feel the vehicle is safe to operate, especially when transporting a child.

Fabric cover of sunroof got detached from rails, so it rolls the fabric to the back of the vehicle leaving the clips hanging and no way to get the sunroof cover reattached.
Engine light is now on and when i fill my car up with gas it has a stall and takes 3-4 times to turn on. My safety is at risk if this recall is not repaired and my car catches fire. Started a month ago and it's challenging to schedule with Ford.
The suspected malfunctioning component is the fuel injector(s), part of the fuel system(gasoline). The vehicle is currently in my possession and is available for inspection upon request. An independent mechanic believes the issue is injector-related and consistent with a known injector defect. The vehicle is subject to a fuel injector recall that wards of fuel accumulation on top of the engine, creating a risk of under-hood fire. In addition the vehicle experiences intermittent stall-on-start and engine shaking/misfiring during startup, which could leave the vehicle inoperable or unreliable, particularly in traffic or emergency situations. Yes. An independent mechanic has evaluated the vehicle and believes the symptoms are consistent with a fuel injector failure or fuel pressure bleed-down. The issue is intermittent and does not always reproduce on demand, which has made consistent replication difficult. The vehicle has not yet been physically inspected by the manufacturer. However, Ford Motor Company has an open case on this vehicle, and the VIN is listed under an injector-related recall/customer satisfaction program. No police or insurance inspections have occurred. No warning lights or messages have appeared. Symptoms include delayed starting, engine shaking/misfiring during startup, and stalling on the first start attempt, followed by normal starting on a second attempt. These symptoms began intermittently and have become more noticeable over time.
I received a letter saying that if I charge my battery over 80% it will catch on fire. This is the second battery recall this year saying my car will catch on fire. I couldn't charge my car for 6 months with the first recall and I bought this car because I only drive short distances and use the battery for most daily driving. Having two recalls saying that my car will catch on fire makes me very scared to drive with my wife and son in the car, so I would like to have this vehicle replaced immediately.
A car started jerking erratically. I put it in, drive or reverse. And the light on the transmission selector would just blink on and off and it would not go in gear when it did finally go in gear. It would not shift out of fourth gear. We'll erratic transmission would not shift cars behind me had to hit their brakes. Because my vehicle would not move very dangerous. I took the vehicle in the Ford. They said it needs a transmission. I've got 65000 miles on this vehicle. It's 5000 miles past a warranty. Warning light did come on. My vehicle is now at an independent transmission shop and they say, I need a new transmission. I don't have the money to fix this. And Ford is wrong if we're not correcting it i will have the documents today. We're ford, it would only give me a small $7000 trade in allowance. Because it needed a transmission. I will be receiving the paperwork from Ford and the paperwork from the transmission shop that has my vehicle. Thank you.
The power window on our 2022 Ford Escape will remain down after being rolled down and cannot be raised. This issue has occurred three separate times. When it happens, the vehicle cannot be secured and is exposed to weather and theft. The failure appears to be intermittent but recurring, indicating a possible design or electrical defect rather than misuse. This creates a safety and security risk, especially if the failure occurs while away from home or during bad weather. This problem has happened multiple times and is not resolved by normal operation of the window switch. Engine problems are occurring as well due to the stated recalls provided by nhtsa.
Vehicle: 2022 Ford Escape VIN: [XXX] Dealer: Westfield Ford, Countryside IL Problem: Rear light repeatedly fails even after multiple repairs; vehicle becomes unsafe and illegal to drive. The rear tail light on my 2022 Ford Escape has failed repeatedly since early Spring 2025. The dealer (Westfield Ford) has attempted repairs 5 times, including replacing bulbs and diagnosing the wiring/computer system. Each repair fails again shortly after. On June 12, 2025, the dealer refused to provide a loaner for a safety repair, forcing me to rent a car at my own expense. On October 9–10, 2025, I left the car again for diagnostics and had to pay for Uber rides because the vehicle could not be legally driven with the light out. The dealership now says the computer module (BCM) is defective, but they still refuse to open a warranty claim, so no repairs have been completed. The vehicle remains unsafe to drive due to loss of exterior rear lighting. This defect makes the vehicle non-compliant with FMVSS lighting standards and creates a serious safety hazard for nighttime or low-visibility driving. I am filing this complaint because the defect is ongoing, Ford and the dealer have failed to resolve it, and the car continues to have a recurring lighting failure that affects road safety. Will not shift into park. Code is P068A on reader. When it started not going into park, it started shifting really hard between 1st and 2nd gear. When came to a stop, tried to put the vehicle in park and it automatically put the parking brake on. When the shop looked up recalls, they told me Ford had issued a recall that may be related but put a 70,000 mile or 7 year limit on it. My vehicle meets the year limit but is over the mileage so Ford said they would not cover it.
The bar came loose on my panaromic sunroof the shade has fell back and is off track. My car is a 2022 Ford Escape.I only had my car for two years. I was driving and heard the raddling nose while driving. The two sided adhesive came loose.I shouldn't have to pay for this.
Recall has been issued since 7/16/25 and a serious safety risk issue has not been resolve. It is mentally draining and scary that whenever we drive our car there is always a risk of safety like car catching on fire. We have been patiently waiting for a long time now. Consumer safety should always be a priority specially we have 2 kids inside the car.
The HVAC evaporator condensate drain tube fails to drain externally, leaking water into the cabin. This saturates interior carpets, padding, wiring, and HVAC housing, causing extensive mold growth—a biohazard creating respiratory/infection risks. Severe since November 2025. Linked to Ford TSB 20-2358 (Oct 2020). Insurance declared total loss due to health/safety hazard. Husband has autoimmune muscle disease—mold exposure dangerous. Ford RAV denied twice (latest Feb 20, 2026, case XXX-XXX). This is a known latent design flaw Ford was aware of before my car was built—breaching implied warranty as the vehicle isn’t fit for safe use. A Terrifying Ordeal and a Broken Promise: M.A’s Story A Known Danger Ignored In August 2025, M.A, a [XXX] woman living with Multiple Sclerosis, received a letter from Ford Motor Company. It was a recall notice for her 2022 Ford Escape, warning that a defect in the turbo system could cause engine fires. Despite this known danger, the letter contained a chilling instruction: there was "no recommendation to stop operating the vehicle." Trusting the manufacturer, M.A continued to drive her car—her essential link to independence. A Nightmare on the Road Two months later, in October 2025, that trust nearly cost M.A her life. While driving in Windsor, Ontario, she saw smoke, then flames erupt from under the hood. In a horrifying instant, the engine compartment burst into fire. Paralyzed by panic—a "brain freeze" moment where she couldn't even unlock her door—she was trapped. Only with the help of bystanders was she pulled to safety, where she watched helplessly as her car and everything she owned—clothes, jewelry, two laptops, an iPad, and three suitcases—were consumed by flames. Physical and Emotional Devastation The fire was extinguished, and the car was towed away, but the damage to M.A’s life was just beginning. The traumatic event triggered a severe relapse of her Multiple Sclerosis, worsening her physical disability. The profound stress and sadness have been overwhelming. She is now without a vehicle, struggling daily with lost mobility and independence. Abandoned by the Company at Fault When M.A contacted Ford for help, seeking accountability for the defect they had already acknowledged, she was met with indifference. Panoramic sun roof shade came loose and dropped down. Ford dealer wants $1400 - 1700 to fix it. I purchased Ford premium extended warranty for $3500. Warranty claim denied because they claim it was made of fabric which is not covered. What a scam. I contacted warranty myself and they informed me they can only cover if it was mechanical or electrical failure. I feel it is mechanical in nature. I've read a lot of complaints about escape sun shade failures. This should be a recall issue due to safety concerns from falling shades.

I am writing to formally demand immediate action regarding my 2022 Ford Escape, VIN [XXX] a 0% financing plan and Ford’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Since purchase, the Escape has suffered serious safety defects, including gasoline fumes inside the cabin, burning odors, and repeated performance failures tied to the fuel system. On [XXX] and again on [XXX], the vehicle flamed up while being driven, requiring emergency intervention to extinguish. In August 2025, Ford issued Safety Recall 25S76, admitting that these vehicles may suffer fuel injector cracking, fuel leaks, and under-hood fires while being driven. Ford further admitted that no permanent repair remedy exists. The interim software update provided does not correct the defect. As a retired U.S. Army Combat Medic and Purple Heart recipient, I live with PTSD triggered by vehicle fires and explosions. The Escape’s condition has placed me in a state of medical crisis, making it impossible for me to safely operate the vehicle. FORD HAS DISCONTINUED THE LINE. While I was driving 65 mph I changed lanes and pressed the gas pedal to accelerate when the vehicle suddenly lost power and shifted to neutral. The check engine light came on. I was able to move the vehicle off the road avoiding an accident and turned the vehicle off for a few moments. I then restarted the vehicle and exited the highway at the next exit. The error code was checked with the check engine light on and it was P068A. The car was parked for the evening and the next day the check engine light was no longer on the dashboard upon restart. Scheduling the vehicle to be checked for issues.
The Incident: While traveling at highway speeds on a public freeway, the engine suffered a catastrophic failure and stalled without warning. This caused an immediate loss of propulsion, power steering, and power braking. I was forced to navigate the vehicle across multiple lanes of high-speed traffic with no engine power, nearly resulting in a fatal collision. Background and Safety Risk: This is the second terminal engine failure this vehicle has suffered in under 60,000 miles. The first engine was replaced by a Ford dealer at approximately 30,000 miles due to a similar failure. The replacement engine has now failed at approximately 53,000 miles. This vehicle is also subject to Safety Recall 25S76 (Fuel Injector/Fire Hazard). Current Status: The defect has been confirmed by a Ford dealership which previously performed a full engine replacement. The manufacturer has not provided a permanent remedy for the current failure or the active fire recall. The vehicle remains a substantial and life-threatening safety risk to the driver and the public. No warning lights or symptoms appeared prior to the sudden engine shut-off at freeway speeds.
The moon roof shade no longer retraces properly and sags obstructing vision when looking through the rear view mirror causing a safety hazard.
