Driver's side seat: I use heated seat at times along with a/c to help my lower back pain. On [XXX] I was using it. I moved my right leg as I was driving with cruise control and I felt some skin tear off of the back of my thigh. Of course, it hurt and I immediately put my hand down and the seat was ridiculously hot! I had to keep my hand cupped underneath as I pulled off on the next exit. My daughter, [XXX] , was with me to witness this. She took pics in the gas station bathroom. I had 3 blisters total and 1 had ripped open with the skin hanging on the side. I have diabetes and diabetic neuropathy. Not a good combination with a defective heated seat that overheats to the point of blisters! The car accelerates without pressing the accelerator. While driving at any moment or when hitting the brakes the car will speed up on its own. I have no problem with the car stopping when I hit the brakes. It just seems as though sometimes it will accelerate when first touching the brakes. I have noticed this for maybe about a year. I researched and found at least 3 reported cases of this being an issue during a car accident. I did take my vehicle to the Ford dealership to have it checked and was told they couldn’t find anything wrong according to their test results. However, there is definitely an issue.

Both occupants were transported to the local hospital and received medical treatment. The vehicle was destroyed and towed away. A police report was taken at the scene. I was on the passenger rear side, lifting the lever to lay the back of the seat flat and forward while doing so I was slightly in the vehicle, trying to lift the lever. When all of a sudden the seat flew forward very rapidly like spring action, and the piece that holds the seatbelt at the top of the back of the seat, which is plastic, slammed into my bridge of my nose, causing a laceration and possible nose fracture.
On three separate occasions, the steering wheel has locked while the vehicle is in drive. My safety is at risk as the car becomes inoperable. I brought the vehicle in for service, and was told they were unable to reproduce it. No warnings or alerts were received after the incidents.
When backing up, the brakes and going forward to stop, the brakes are making a loud, moaning sound. When trying to stop, the brakes are "grabbing," making a rubbing, friction type sound as well, causing me to have to pump the brakes to stop the vehicle.
Brakes are moaning when backing up. and there is a grabbing sensation when trying to stop, I have to pump the brakes!
It leaks or consumes excess amounts of coolant. I’ve had to refill it twice now. I know this is weird with a newer car with only 23,000 miles.
My panoramic sunroof cracked with no signs of impact at all and once i open the car the sunroof exploded apart.

I was in a minor accident involving a small animal on [XXX] and there was not much damage done to it. After it got repaired a few months later the steering wheel started locking up on me so I had it towed down to Bob Johnson Ford in Pulaski NY. They couldn't diagnose the issue and said I was safe to drive it home. On the way home the steering wheel locked up while exiting the highway and caused me to run into a guard rail. (XXX) After it got repaired I thought it was fixed but months later it started locking up again. On [XXX] had it towed to Wally's ford in Adams ny. They also have not been able to diagnose the issue. I am trying to get Ford to buy back the car but they say it's outside the lemon law and to see if the insurance company can do anything about it. Ford and USAA both told me to not drive the vehicle but neither of them will give me a rental car. So I'm stuck between companies and have nothing to drive. Please help. The car is a 2022 Ford escape SEL, 28000 miles on it. Please contact me at [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Night driving safety risk due to no ambient lighting and unable to locate door controls, usb connection, heating controls, cup holder, while driving. Interior is in total darkness throughout night driving! If I need to find any connections I am unable and when I was driving I had to look away from traffic and avoided losing control of my vehicle!! Ford says this 2022 Escape doesn’t have ambient lighting and because this is a safety risk, i am hoping this can be rectified.
- Brakes make a rough squeeling or scrubbing noise when applied. This intensifies when wet or humid outside. - The brake system could be failing or causing pads to deteriorate. - When I brought this to the service manager's attentiin at the dealership he stated, " Yeah, it happens" and never did anything about it. - Unknown if ever inspected since I am the second owner and there are a couple of service records in history with "unknown" in the description. - There have been no warning lamps or any other symptoms.
Driver's side door weld spots above and below the door check rod are broken. The door is not closing correctly. I'm afraid it's not going to stay closed while I'm driving. I took it to the local Ford Dealer and they confirmed this. No warnings, it suddenly started making a terrible noise when I open or shut the door.

During vehicle operation, on occasion, entire vehicle instrument panel goes dark and shuts off, which includes speedometer and warning lights. Cruise control deactivates and all displays and warning indicators de-luminate. System will turn back on and flash multiple error codes before returning to normal. Sync/navigation system will also go out.
Rear brakes squeak/moan when in reverse. The recent TSB from Ford states this is a recurring issue with Escape owners. My vehicle underwent the fix (which should have only taken 0.70 hours, but took 3 hours on a scheduled appointment), only to get the vehicle back and the sound is even louder than it was before. Vehicle went back in for said concern. They installed a brake muffler piece to help muffle the noise. However, whatever was done has now made the brakes loose and the peddle needs to be pushed almost to the ground. So again, the fix isn't the actual fix. Lane Departure and Crossing almost caused an accident. It had rained and there were mud/gravel dust tracks on the road. The cameras thought it was the road line and swerved me multiple times into the oncoming lane. Needless to say, I stopped this feature on my vehicle for safety reasons.
Drivers Side Door- The “Door Check/Hinge” failed. Originally made several loud popping noises and then became hard to secure/shut. The same situation as the 2021 Ford Escape that I traded for the 2022 Escape. Drivers side door wouldn’t shut properly. Yes. No.
Paint is bubbling and popping for no reason. Issues have been seen on body panels and seals on inside of car where noting would touch it. Problem spots look like little volcanos or in some cases have already chipped away. Car has only been hand washed and waxed since owned. Application Performance Upgrade 22G08 may need to be expanded out to other colors as this one has discolored plastic panels as compared to metal panels and black base is also showing on nose through clear coat.

When I open my driver side door is clunks very bad. I took into dealer and was told the door check bracket has come unwelded They said that I can keep driving it in this condition until they can get it in to repair. But at first he was saying they would probably replace the door but now that isn’t happening. They are just going to repair it.

The middle hinge of front door has broke off inside the door and has my window “pinched” and no longer able to be rolled up or down. Occasionally the rod that is broken off will prevent me from closing my door all the way and will come unhinged going down the road. Was 500 miles over warranty (took me a few days to bring it in due to getting a day off approved) and FORD says it’s $2500 to fix their safety flaw.

I have a foot operated lift gate and I constantly have to find the exact spot for it to open. Twice it lifted and while I was putting groceries in the back it came back down on me. The first time in smacked the back of my head and left a big knot. The second time it caught my shoulder and then I was able to get out of the way. I thought if the lift gate touched something coming down that it would go back up. It is a 2022 and does not even have 3000 miles on it. No I have not contacted the dealer. I have been extremely ill and it slipped my mind. Thank you very much for a quick reply.

I have had issues with my car since the day that I bought it. First, my car squealed every time that I backed up. I took it to my local Ford dealership 3 or 4 times without this ever being fixed. This then progressed to my brakes squealing anytime they’re used. I barely have 25,000 miles on my car. Additionally, I have had numerous occasions where my car will get stuck and not shift, not accelerate which is extremely scary when merging into traffic, the RPM’s will jump between 3,000 and 5,000 and stay there while I cannot accelerate or shift. The vehicle has had episodes of shaking while I am driving, and now there is a grinding sound when driving for unknown reasons. My car has also sounded like there is a hole in the exhaust, although there isn’t. I’m not sure what’s causing the noise. Now I have come to find out that there are two active recalls on my car; one for the PCM control module (NHTSA Recall Number: 25V-467, Ford Recall Number: 24S55), and the SYNC/ display software update (NHTSA Recall Number: 26V-123, Ford Recall Number: 25S06) which is a lesser concern. I called the dealer that I bought my car from and they can’t service my car for the PCM control module via an appointment until 4/24/26 (over a month from now when I don’t feel safe driving my vehicle). They said that I can drop my car off before 4/24 for about a week, but that they can’t provide a loaner. I can’t be without a vehicle. Per Ford there are not parts for a permanent remedy anyway, and this is only a temporary fix as it is, which I don’t have confidence in. That’s ridiculous because the recall came out 7/2025. It’s been almost a year. They also told me that the SYNC software update is only a customer satisfaction, not a recall, so they won’t fix it, which is incorrect. I called Ford customer satisfaction and was also denied a loaner car. The only option that I was given was the possibility of a buyback program, which didn’t sound promising. I’m stuck in a car that I don’t feel safe in.
