WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE SHIFTED HARD. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION. *JB
I OWN A 2000 FORD EXCURSION. IT JUST TURNED 36,000 MILES. WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE FRIDAY, JULY 23, 2004 MY LEFT REAR TIRE EXPLODED, CAUSING PAINT DAMAGE TO THE REAR OF MY TRUCK. WE REPLACED THE TIRE WITH A SPARE AND BROUGHT IT TO A TIRE DEALER. HE LOOKED OVER THE OTHER TIRES AND SAID THEY DIDN'T LOOK BAD BUT YOU REALLY CAN'T TELL FROM THE OUTSIDE. WHILE DRIVING YESTERDAY AUGUST 15, 2004, MY RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT CAUSING STRUCTURE DAMAGE TO MY FENDER AND PAINT DAMAGE TO THE SIDE AND REAR OF MY TRUCK. I AGAIN BOUGHT A NEW TIRE AND HAVE CONTACTED MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO REPAIR THE DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK. THE TIRES ARE FIRESTONE STEELTEX R45 LT265/75 R16. LOUND POPPING NOISE COMING FROM MOTOR. TOWED TO FORD DELERSHIP. SPARK PLUG BLOWN OUT OF HEAD. $4,000.00 TO FIX. IN SHOP NOW. HANDS ARE TIED WITH NO OTHER POSSIBLE SOLUTION. 2000 FORD EXCURSION V-10 MOTOR. *LA
WHEN THE CONSUMER LIFTED THE SHIELD TO REMOVE THE CHILD, ONE SIDE OF THE SHIELDS ARM DISLODGED. *AK *SC *JB
I PURCHASED 4 BIG O BIG FOOT AT TIRES IN AUGUST 2003. IN THE FOUR MONTHS BETWEEN JULY 2004 AND NOVEMBER 2004, I EXPERIENCED 3 SEPARATE HIGH-SPEED CATASTROPHIC BLOW OUTS ON 3 OF THE TIRES. IN EACH CASE, I WAS TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (65 MPH) WITH MY FAMILY IN THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST WAS ON A WARM SUMMER DAY, THE SECOND WAS ON A MODERATE DAY, THE THIRD WAS AT ABOUT 35 DEGREES. THE FIRST TWO BLOW-OUTS OCCURRED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. THE THIRD WAS ON THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE. AFTER THE REPLACEMENT OF EACH OF THE FIRST TWO TIRES, THE REMAINING THREE WHEELS WERE ROTATED. IN EACH CASE, IT WAS A STUGGLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, BUT IN THE THIRD CASE (REAR TIRE), THE CAR SKIDDED DANGEROUSLY OUT OF CONTROL AS THE REAR END SWAYED BACK AND FORTH. HAD I NOT STEERED INTO THE SKID, I AM CERTAIN THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE ROLLED OVER. THE BIG O DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TIRES EACH TIME, BUT INSISTED THAT THE FAILURES COULD ONLY HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY ENCOUNTERING SOME ROAD HAZARD WHICH CAUSED THE TIRES TO DE-PRESSURIZE QUICKLY, HEAT UP AND THEN BLOW. HOWEVER, THREE HIGH-SPEED BLOWOUTS IN FOUR MONTHS INDICATES NOT AN ISOLATED CIRCUMSTANCE OR COINCIDENCE, BUT A DANGEROUS AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY PATTERN.*AK
THE FRONT ROTORS WERE BADLY WARPED AT 18,000 MILES. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ROTORS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT ARE WARPED AGAIN AT 23,000 MILES. POOR DESIGN AND A SAFETY HAZARD. *LA
PRIOR WEEK NOTICED ROUGHNESS IN RIDE. DID NOT DETECT DAMAGE. JULY 2, TRAVELING AT 70 MPH ON SOUTH 101 TOWARD GILROY. RIDE WAS ROUGH AND A NOISE LIKE A HELICOPTER WAS HEARD. MADE DECISION TO GET OFF OF FREEWAY TO INVESTIGATE. IN THE SLOW LANE, LOUD NOISE, STOPPED CAR ON FREEWAY EXIT SHOULDER. A PIECE OF THE TREAD WAS MISSING. OTHER PLACES ON TREAD WERE CRACKED AND COMING LOOSE. LUCKILY, THE NOISE MADE ME GET OFF OF THE FREEWAY. TIRES WILL BE REPLACED. *LA
PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE'S TIRES ON 2000 FORD EXCURSION.*MR THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE AFTER HE HAD ALREADY REPLACED HIS TIRES WITH B.F. GOODRICH 8-PLY TIRES. HE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER BUT WAS TOLD THAT SINCE HE DIDN'T HAVE HIS ORIGINAL TIRES HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE 10 PLY REPLACEMENTS. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS VOLUNTARILY RECALLING THE 8 PLY TIRES. *NM
I HAVE A 2000 FORD EXCURSION AND ALL MY DOOR LOCKS DO NOT WORK. IT TRIES TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THEM, BUT IT DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH POWER OR SOMETHING. I HAVE TALKED TO OTHER OWNERS THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I WAS JUST WONDERING WHY THERE HASNT BEENA RECALL IF THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *AK
CONSUMER STARTED VEHICLE EARLY IN THE MORNING AND HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMINGFROM THE ENGINE. INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INDICATED ONE OF THE SPARK PLUG CAME OUT OF THE HEAD GASKET. NEED TO BE REPLACED THE ENGINE. *AK
THE VEHICLE WAS BEING RECALLED FOR A TIRE EXCHANGE, HOWEVER THE CLOSEST FIRESTONE DEALER WAS 120 MILES AWAY. THERE WAS A CLOSER TIRE DEALER WHO CARRIED THE SAME FIRESTONE TIRES, BUT FIRESTONE WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE THAT TIRE DEALERSHIP TO CHANGE THE TIRES. *AK *SC *JB
2000 FORD EXCURSION HAS AN OCCASIONAL VIBRATION COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. *MR THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE HAD A CUT IN THE SIDEWALL WHEN THE CONSUMER FIRST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER AGREED TO REPLACE ALL OF THE TIRES. THE CONSUMER NOTICED A VIBRATION THAT SEEMED TO BE COMING FROM THE RIGHT REAR, WITH AN OCCASIONAL VIBRATION IN THE FRONT. IT STARTED AT ABOUT 55 AND CONTINUED UNTIL ABOUT 70. THE DEALER THEN REPLACED THE REAR TIRES AGAIN. THEY REBALANCED ALL FOUR TIRES. THE VIBRATION WAS STILL THERE. THEY FOUND THIS PROBLEM IN ANOTHER EXCURSION BUT WORSE. *SC *JB
PROBLEMS WITH TIRE EQUIPMENT ON 2000 FORD EXCURSION. *MR THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT HER TIRES HAD CRACKS IN THE SIDEWALLS. THE CONSUMER HAD PURCHASED FOUR NEW BRIDGESTONE TIRES. THE CONSUMER WAS NOTIFIED BY THAT A RECALL WAS ISSUED AND WAS OFFERED REIMBURSEMENT. *SC *JB
CLAIM FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPLACEMENT OF TIRE EQUIPMENT ON FORD EXCURSION. *MR THE CONSUMER WENT TO A FIRESTONE DEALER AND A FORD DEALER TO HAVE HIS TRIES REPLACED, HOWEVER HE WAS TOLD BY BOTH COMPANIES THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE TIRES FOR HIS VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER WENT TO AN OUTSIDE COMPANY TO HAVE THE TIRES REPLACED. BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE DENIED THE CONSUMERS REQUEST FOR REIMBURSEMENT STATING THE TIRES MUST HAVE BEEN REPLACED ON OR BEFORE MARCH 1, 2003. *JB *SC
ELECTRICAL HARNESS (WHICH INCLUDES THE CRUISE CONTROL, HORN, ETC) CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED.WE WERE ABLE TO REPLACE THE BURNED OUT PARTS. I WENT BACK RECENTLY TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER TO ASK IF IT WAS RELATED TO THE RECALL AND THEY SAID THAT EXCURSIONS WERE NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND IT WAS JUST COINCIDENCE. I AM NOW CONCERNED THAT IT WILL CATCH FIRE AGAIN.
IN FEB. 2004 I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD RECALLING THE TIRES I HAD ON MY 2000 FORD EXCURSION. THE TIRES HAD 44000 MILES ON THEM AT THAT TIME WITH NO FAILURE. WE HAD THE REPLACEMENTS PUT ON BY CAPITOL CITY FORD IN INDIANAPOLIS ON 03/25/2004. MY WIFE AND SOME FAMILY WENT TO TENNESSEE OVER THE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND AND ON THE RETURN TRIP THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT. IT DIDN'T LEAK OUT IT BLEW OUT. THE DRIVER, LARRY D. MCROBERTS 317-891-9020, ADVISED HE HAD TO USE EXTREEM EFFORT TO KEEP THE VEHICLE SOMEWHAT STRAIGHT BUT IT DID GO INTO THE CENTER MEDIAN OF I 75 JUST NORTH OF LEXINGTON KENTUCKY ACROSS ONE LANE OF TRAFFIC. THE TIRE WAS CHANGED, WITH THE NEW SPARE AND THEY MADE IT BACK TO HOME. WHEN PRESENTED TO CAPITOL CITY FOR REPLACEMENT THEY ADVISE IT WOULD ONLY BE COVERED BY B. F GOODRICH @70 % OF THE COST. THAT IS NOT THE MAIN ISSUE, WE HAD 44000 ON "DEFECTIVE" FIRESTONE TIRES, BUT COULD NOT GET 1500 MILES OUT OF THE REPLACEMENT GOODRICH TIRES AND HAD A POTENTIALLY SERIOUS BLOW OUT AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE GOODRICH TIRES ARE NOW THE STANDARD FOR THE FORD EXCURSION. THE TIRE THAT BLEW HAD A DOT NUMBER OF 013W384A18003 FROM THE MICHELIN WARRANTY FORM NUMBER AA5110951. AT THE DEALERSHIP A MECHANIC STATED TO ME, WHEN I BROUGHT IN THE TIRE, " LOOKS LIKE GOODRICH TOOK A LESSON FROM FIRESTONE" ARE THESE TIRES FAILING THE SAME AS FIRESTONES? *AK
WHEN DRIVING THE OVERDRIVE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *NM

CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER ABOUT A MONTH AGO REGARDING FIRESTONE SATELLITES A/T TIRES, LT265/75R16 LOAD RANGE, DEALER HAD NOT RECEIVED THE FORMS AUTHORIZING THE REPLACEMENT OF RECALLED TIRES. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH THE VEHICLE HIT A TELEPHONE POLE HEAD ON. UPON IMPACT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. *AK THE DRIVER'S CHEST HIT THE STEERING WHEEL AND HIS CHIN HIT THE WINDSHIELD CRACKING IT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *NM
WIS. DEPT OF CONSUMER PROTECTION FORWARDED MY COMPLAINT FILE # 435376. SINCE I FILED THIS COMPLAINT AGAINST FORD AND L& S TRUCK MY VEHICLE HAD ANOTHER PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE CENTER. HE STATED THAT THE PLUG FROM THE HIGH PRESSURE OIL PUMP MYSTERIOUSLY CAME LOOSE. THIS HAPPENED LESS THAT TWO WEEKS AFTER L& S TRUCK SERVICED MY TRUCK AFTER MY COMPLAINT. ALL THE OIL CAME OUT OF THE TRUCK AND INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THIS TIME I HAVE NOT HAD A FIRE. I DO HAVE THE WIRING HARNESS WHICH BURNED FROM THE PREVIOUS TIME. *AK
THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE (04V14) FOR REPLACEMENT OF TIRES. THE DEALER IS REFUSING TO REPLACE THE TIRES AT THIS TIME. SERVICE MANAGER KEITH RUOHUEN. *MR *LA
CONSUMER IS REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE CHARGE OF REPLACEMENT TIRE EQUIPMENT. (NAR) *MR THE MODEL TIRES ON THE VEHICLE WERE APART OF THE TIRE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM. (THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT HIS VEHICLE DIDN'T QUALIFY BECAUSE HE DID NOT GO TO AN AUTHORIZED FIRESTONE DEALER AND HAVE THE TIRE REPLACED, BUT THE LETTER STATED DIFFERENTLY) THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A FLAT TIRE ON THE LEFT REAR SIDE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. *SC *JB *CB
WHILE DRIVING, THE DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE TIRE JUST SHREDDED. HE STATED HE STILL HAD THE WHEEL AND WHAT WAS LEFT OF THE TIRE. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE TIRE TO A FIRESTONE DEALER, AFTER HEARING THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON THE STEELTEX TIRES, HE STATED THAT THE DEALER PRETTY MUCH KICKED HIM OUT OF THE DOOR, STATING THAT HIS TIRE WAS NOT ON RECALL. CONSUMER STATED THAT HE DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT, BECAUSE OF THIS SUDDEN BLOW OUT, BUT IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE HANDLING OF HIS VEHICLE, WHICH HANDLED VERY WELL. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE TIRE WAS A STEELTEX 265 75/16, AND HAD ABOUT 45,000 MILES ON IT. HE STATED HE WAS TOLD THAT HIS TIRE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *JB
2000 FORD EXCURSION CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE PARKED.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR THE CONSUMER HOME ALSO CAUGHT ON FIRE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE WHEN THE FIRE ERUPTED. *NM
VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE WHICH WAS ATTACHED TO THE HOME, AND WITHOUT WARNING THE VEHICLE BURNED. IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS. ALSO, IT BURNED THE HOUSE DOWN TO THE GROUND. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. *AK *JB

FAILURE OCCURRED AT 6 MONTHS, 10,000 MILES AFTER PURCHASE. 2000 FORD EXCURSION 4WD, DIESEL. *AK CATASTROPHIC BLOWOUT ON FRONT LEFT DRIVERS SIDE WHILE DRIVING ON I-30 IN GRAPEVINE, TEXAS AT 2:00 PM, GOOD CONDITIONS, DRY, SPEED 65 MPH. NO WARNING, LOUD EXPLOSION, TRUCK WHIPPED LEFT IMMEDIATELY AND SLAMMED INTO CEMENT HIGHWAY DIVIDERS. LITERALLY ON TWO WHEELS ON TOP OF DIVIDERS BEFORE COMING TO A STOP OVER 100 YDS AWAY. CHILDREN IN CAR. NO INJURIES AS WERE ALL BELTED. ENTIRE LEFT SIDE TRUCK DAMAGED, LEFT REAR TIRE DAMAGED. FRAME DAMAGE. TRUCK STILL BEING REPAIRED. REPAIRS EXCEEDING 6,000.00 SO FAR. THIS IS THE SECOND BLOWOUT ON THESE TIRES I HAVE EXPERIENCED. THE FIRST OCCURRED AT 6 OR 7 MONTHS AS WELL AS IT HAPPENED IN JULY OR AUGUST AND TIRE WAS PURCHASED 1/4/02. TIRE WAS REPLACED AS DEALER STATED IT WAS A DEFECTIVE TIRE. IS ANYONE LOOKING INTO THIS YET?
BALL JOINT FAILURE ON 2000 FORD EXCURSION. THE VEHICLE HAS 67000 MILES WITH NO TOWING OR SEVERE USE. FORD HAS NO GREASE JOINTS AVAILABLE. I DETECTED DUE TO VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. *AK
THE REPLACEMENT TIRES FOR THE BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE RAPID RECALL 04T003000 HAVE NOT BEEN AVAILABLE FOR 3 MONTHS, AND DEALERSHIP DOESN'T KNOW WHEN THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH VEHICLE STALLED. THIS CAUSED THE DRIVER TO DRIFT TO SIDE OF THE ROAD. CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT ENGINE SPARK PLUGS BLEW OUT OF THE ENGINE. MECHANIC REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS. *AK
CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL ON THE FIRESTONE STEELTEX TIRE. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED BY THE CONSUMER. CONTACT WAS MADE WITH THE MANUFACTURER, AND IT WAS ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE REIMBURSEMENT WOULD BE MADE UPON RECEIPT OF THE SPECIAL FORMS WHICH WERE NEVER RECEIVED BY THE CONSUMER. *AK
CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING DOWN ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. TIRE SHREDDED COMPLETELY FROM THE SIDEWALL TO THE TREAD. TIRE BLOWOUT CAUSED VEHICLE TO SWERVE ALL OVER THE HIGHWAY UNTIL IT WAS ABLE TO COME TO A STOP. CONSUMER PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO CHANGE THE TIRE. THEN, CONSUMER BOUGHT A NEW SET OF TIRES. FIRESTONE, STEELTEX, RADIAL AT, LT265/75R16D.*AK
THE PAINT IS PEELING OFF OF MY 2000 EXCURSION. THE DEALERSHIP BODY SHOP MANAGER, FORD REGIONAL MANAGER, SERVICE MANAGER AND EVERYONE WHO HAS LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE ALL AGREE THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THE LACK OF APPLICATION OF THE "SEAL COAT". I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALERSHIP WHILE MY WARRANTY WAS STILL 100% VALID AND WAS CASUALLY BRUSHED ASIDE AS SURFACE SCRATCHES. NOW CHUNKS OF PAINT ARE FLAKING OFF OF THE BODY. THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD WANT ME TO PAY $1,000 PORTION OF REPAIRING/REPAINTING. I WANT THE DEFECTIVE PAINT FIXED. MEANWHILE I HAVE BEEN GETTING THE RUN AROUND FOR THE PAST 4-5 MONTHS. *JB
REPLACEMENT OF FIRESTONE TIRES INITIATED BY RECALL OF 2/26/04. I REPLACED THESE TIRES IN 2001 AT 17,200 MILES BECAUSE OF SAFETY CONCERNS. AT THAT TIME THERE WERE MANY COMPLAINTS TO NHTSA AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER AN INVESTIGATION WAS OPEN. FORD NOW USES E RATED TIRES ON THE EXCURSION WHICH RUN AT HIGHER TIRE PRESSURE. ONCE AGAIN FORD DID NOT OUTFIT THE VEHICLE WITH A PROPER TIRE FOR THE WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE, RATHER OPTING FOR A SMOOTHER RIDE OF A D RATED TIRE. THEY WERE DOING THIS BECAUSE THE FRONT SPRINGS WERE ALSO INADEQUATE FOR A GOOD RIDE. THE USED E RATED TIRES ON THE F250 AND F 350 FROM WHICH THE EXCURSION IS BASED. *AK
REPLACEMENT OF FIRESTONE TIRES INITIATED BY RECALL OF 2/26/04. HAVING REPLACED THESE TIRES IN 2001 AT 21,622 MILES BECAUSE OF SAFETY CONCERNS, I AM NOW INELIGIBLE FOR REIMBURSEMENT BECAUSE OF HAVING DONE SO. RATHER, IT SEEMS, I SHOULD HAVE WAITED UNTIL THE TIRES HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND THEN, IF I HAD SURVIVED, FILED FOR REIMBURSEMENT. SUCH PERVERSE LOGIC BY FIRESTONE SHOULD BE OVERTURNED AND I CALL ON THE NHTSA TO HAVE FIRESTONE REVERSE ITS POSITION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER CHECKING ENGINE FLUIDS AND VERIFYING EVERYTHING WAS OKAY. THE ENGINE STARTED LOSING POWER. WE CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER AND THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO GET IT IN TO CHECK, SO WE TRAILERED IT TO A NEENAH REPAIR SHOP. AFTER CHECKING VARIOUS THINGS HE INDICATED THERE WAS A FIRE IN THE WIRING HARNESS OF THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE RETAINED THE PARTS WHICH THE FORD DEALER WANTED TO HAVE. THIS WAS MY THIRD FORD VEHICLE WHICH STARTED ON FIRE. I'VE HAD AN LTD THAT WAS TOTALED WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. A FORD CONVERSION VAN WHICH THE AUXILIARY POWER STARTED THE INTERIOR ON FIRE WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT AND THIS FORD EXCURSION. I ALSO HAVE A 2002 F350 WHICH HAS HAD EVERY PROBLEM THAT MY EXCURSION HAS HAD. BOTH THESE VEHICLES HAVE THE SAME MOTOR. BOTH VEHICLES ARE ON THE THIRD ALTERNATOR. THERE IS A PROBLEM IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OF THESE FORD VEHICLES. THE REPAIR COSTS FOR THE EXCURSION HAVE EXCEEDED $2500.00. *AK
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2000 FORD EXCURSION (DIESEL). SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE I HAVE HAD A CONTINUOUS PROBLEM WITH THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS. WHEN THEY FAIL, PERSONS CAN NOT ENTER OR LEAVE THE CAR. TWO YEARS AGO I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALER SO THEY COULD REPAIR OR REPLACE TWO FAILED DOOR LOCK MECHANISMS. INSTEAD OF REPLACING ONLY THE TWO FAILED COMPONENTS, THEY REPLACED ALL 4 DOORS (NOT THE HATCH) AND TOLD ME THEY KNOW THE OTHERS WILL FAIL AS WELL. NOW THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR LOCK AND THE HATCH DOOR LOCK DO NOT WORK. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THE COST OF THE REPAIR IS $1500. THEY INDICATED THE PROBLEM WAS RAMPED AMONG SIMILAR VEHICLES WITH THE SAME DOOR LOCK MECHANISMS BUT THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT AS A FAULTY COMPONENT PROBLEM. I HAVE SINCE CONTACTED SEVERAL OTHER AUTO REPAIR BUSINESSES IN MY AREA AND LEARNED THEY HAVE A FAIRLY STEADY FLOW OF BUSINESS RELATED TO FORD DOOR LOCK MALFUNCTIONS. I HAVE THREE SMALL CHILDREN AS DO MANY FAMILIES CHOOSING TO PURCHASE LARGER FORD SUVS. THE KIDS GET INTO THE HABBIT OF RELYING ON THE AUTOMATED DOORLOCKS CONTROLLED BY THE ADULTS IN THE FRONT SEATS. IN THE EVENT OF AN AUTOMOBILE FIRE TYPE OF ACCIDENT THE ADULTS WOULD PROBABLY RELY ON THE DOORLOCK MECHANISMS AS WELL. THE KIDS MAY NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT AND THE RESCUERS WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET IN WITHOUT USING FORCE. BY THE STATEMENTS GIVEN TO ME BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP EMPLOYEES, THE UNRELIABLE DOORLOCK MECHANISMS USED BY FORD IS A WELL ESTABLISHED DEALER PROBLEM, BUT IT HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED AS A RECALL ITEM. I FEEL THAT FORD, KNOWING ABOUT THE FAULTY COMPONENT SHOULD RECALL THE DOORLOCK MECHANISMS AND REPLACE THEM WITH WITH A MORE RELIABLE COMPONENT. I HAVE A LIFETIME NUMBER OF VEHICLES. ONE OF MY VEHICLES IS A 1990 CHEVY K5 BLAZER. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH ANY AUTOMATIC DOORLOCK MECHANISMS BEFORE PURCHASING THE FORD EXCURSION. SINCERELY, GREG GAY. *AK

AFTER USING REMOTE AND KEYLESS ENTRY, DOORS APPEARED TO BE UNLOCKED BUT THE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN. FINALLY THE DOOR LOCK RELEASED THE DOOR AND GAINED ACCESS TO THE CAR INTERIOR. TRIED ALL 5 DOORS BEFORE DRIVERS DOOR FINALLY OPENED. WHILE DRIVING, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT CAME ON AND THE DRIVERS DOOR OPENED WITH NO WARNING. THIS HAPPENED TO BOTH REAR DOORS ALSO. *JB
I HAVE A 2000 FORD EXCURSION. REFERENCE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 01V258000:MOTOR. I HAVE CALLED MY FORD DEALER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM/RECALL AND WAS TOLD THAT THE WIPER MOTOR WAS REPLACED IN MY TRUCK, BUT I TOLD THEM THAT THIS IS THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING. THE WIPER JUST STOPS ON INTERMITTENT MODE AND DOES NOT GO BACK TO PARK MODE. I WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THE MOTOR REPLACED. 2000 FORD EXCURSION ROLL A WAY IN REVERSE WHEN PARKED. *JB
I PURCHASED MY 2000 FORD EXCURION IN SUMMER 2003. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED SEVERAL TIMES TIMES FOR STAYING ON RANDOMLY. THE BACKUP BEEPER HAS NEVER WORKED AND WHEN I TRIED TO HAVE BOTH ITEMS REPAIRED UNDER THE $2000 EXTENDED WARRANTY I BOUGHT THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NOT COVERED. I ALSO HAVE SEEN THE RECORDS FOR THIS VEHICLE FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER (THAT THE DEALERSHIP ACCIDENTALLY SENT ME) AND THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN FOR THE SAME PROBLEMS AS I HAVE BEFORE I EVER PURCHASED IT AND THAT WAS NOT DISCLOSED. THE PAINT IN THE WINTER OF 2003-2004 STARTED PEELING OFF OF THE AREA BOVE THE WINDSHIELD AND THE ROOF OF MY VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN REPAINTED. I TOOK IT TO A BODY SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PAINT LINES SHOW THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER REPAINTED AND THAT THEY HAVE SEEN SEVERAL FORD VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM, AND FORD IS VERY RELUCATANT TO HELP PEOPLE IN THI SITUATION.. MY HUSBAND NOW HAS A FORD TRUCK TOO WHICH HE PURCHASED USED, AND HAS THE SAME INTERIOR LIGHT PROBLEMS I HAVE. THE LAST TIME I CONTACTED THE DEALER TO HAVE THE FORD REPRESENTATIVE CONTACT ME, I NEVER EVEN RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER OR FORD. THEY IGNORE MY CONTACT AND CALLS, ESPECIALLY RANDY IN THE SERVICE DAPARTMENT. LEFT FRONT TIRE BLEW WHILE THE CONSUMER WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. *PH THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED REIMBURSEMENT INDICATING THAT THE TIRE HAD A RUPTURE PRIOR TO THE BLOWOUT. *NM
