COIL ON PLUG FAILURE , BLOWN PLUG IN ENGINE OR MULTIPLE COIL FAILURE RECURRING PROBLEM CONTINUE ON TWO VEHICLES ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS CAUSING LOSS OF POWER AT VARYING SPEED REQUIRING TOWING AND REPAIR PURCHASED TWO VEHICLES FOR FAMILY USE SAME DAY, DO NOT INTEND TO BUY FORD AGAIN WHEN FORD APPROACH IS IT IS NOT FORD DEFECT OR PROBLEM. *TR
WE FOLLOWED THE MANUFACTUERS CERTIFICATION LABEL INSIDE THE DRIVERS DOOR FOR THE CORRECT PSI FOR ALL 4 TIRES. THE CERTIFICATION LABEL INDICATED 26PSI FRONT AND 30PSI REAR. WE TESTED THE TIRES ON A MONTLY BASIS AND KEPT THE TIRE PRESSURE AS INDICATED. WHEN I WENT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE I WANTED THEM TO CHECK THE TIRES BECAUSE THEY WHERE STARTING TO WEAR ON THE EDGES. I WAS ADVISED BY TIRESPLUS THAT ALL 4 TIRES NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE STEEL BELT WAS COMING THROUGH THE TREAD. THESE TIRES ONLY HAD 20K MILES ON THEM FOR A 2 YEAR OLD VEHICHLE. WHICH 20K IS UNDER THE NATIONAL AVERAGE FOR MILEAGE ON A VEHICLE. I'M SO LUCKY THAT THESE TIRES DIDN'T BLOW OUT DUE TO THE STEEL BELTS COMING THROUGH WHILE I WAS DRIVING THEM. I CONTACTED THE CAR DEALERSHIP ON A FEW OCCASIONS AND THEY NEVER RESPONDED TO ME. THANK YOU
CONTINENTAL GRABBER AW SIZE 275-60R17 DOT#: ADT044T2600 ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. CONSUMER STATES THAT WHILE DRIVING THE TREAD ON THE LEFT REAR TIRE SEPARATED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SWAY FROM SIDE TO SIDE RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. CABLE HOLDING SPARE UNDER CARRIER TORE ALLOWING TIRE TO HIT MY CAR AND ALMOST HITTING CAR. *AK
THE #4 IGNITION COIL PACK FAILED AND WAS REPLACED. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON FORD 4.6L AND 5.4L ENGINES. I AM CREATING A DATABASE OF FAILURES FROM MULTIPLE USER GROUPS AND CAN CONFIRM MULTIPLE (UP TO FIVE ON THE SAME VEHICLE) FAILURES OF THIS PART BECAUSE OF A HEATER HOSE THAT LEAKS ON TO THE COIL PACK DIRECTLY BENEATH IT. MINE FAILED WHILE ACCELERATING ON TO A HIGHWAY, AND WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED SINCE THE TRUCK SUDDENLY LOST POWER BEING THAT THE #4 CYLINDER WAS NO LONGER FIRING. SINCE MULTIPLE FAILURES HAVE BEEN RECORDED, FORD SHOULD BE LIABLE FOR THIS AS IT IS CLEARLY A DESIGN FLAW. *AK
THE VEHICLE IS RATED CAPABLE OF PULLING OUR TWO HORSE TRAILER, WHILE COMING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY, REAR AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM WENT FLAT DRIVING THE NOSE OF THE HORSE TRAILER INTO THE ROAD. HAD THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR MESS. IS THIS COMMON?*AK

VEHICLE STARTED STALLING AT 24000 MILES. VEHICLE HAS STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES AT ANY SPEED. TAKEN TO DEALER 9 TIMES. DEALER REPLACED TRANSMISSION AND PCM MODULE, DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM.*AK THE FUEL PUMP, FUEL PUMP SENSOR AND PROCESSOR HAVE BEEN REPLACED, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *SLC
SPECIAL MESSAGE #15773 THESE PROBLEMS HAVE EXISTED FOR YEARS. AND ALTHOUGH I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE IN TO HAVE CORRECT THESE PROBLEMS, AT NO TIME DID ANY SERVICE PERSONNEL REFERENCE THE ABOVE MESSAGE, OR FIX MY VEHICLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH PRESCRIBED GUIDELINES. THE FOLLOWING IS A SUMMARY OF THE SERVICES PERFORMED ON MY VEHICLE THAT ARE A DIRECT RESULT OF THIS PROBLEM. I WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO PROVIDE COPIES OF THESE DOCUMENTED SERVICES UPON REQUEST.*DEC 2000: MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED OUR VEHICLE IN WASHINGTON WITH 13,000 MILES ON IT WHILE ON CHRISTMAS LEAVE FROM GERMANY, AND OUR TRUCK SAT IN STORAGE UNTIL OUR RETURN IN SEP 2001. WE THEN DROVE OUR VEHICLE FROM CALIFORNIA TO OUR NEW DUTY STATION AT FORT BELVOIR, VIRGINIA.*JAN 2002: WE HAD ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRICAL AND TRANSMISSION MODULAR. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE WORLD OF FORD DEALERSHIP IN ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA. THEY REPLACED THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULAR, AIRBAG LIGHT, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND REPROGRAMMED THE GEM MODULAR. THE ODOMETER READING AT THIS TIME WAS 26,795 MILES. FORTUNATELY, THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.*JUL 2002: I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO WORLD OF FORD IN ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA FOR THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS: TRANSMISSION SLIPPING, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AIRBAG LIGHTS, AND ABS LIGHTS. FORD SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL COVERED UNDER WARRANTY WITH AN ODOMETER READING OF 30,481 MILES. AGAIN, ALTHOUGH THE FORD SPECIAL MESSAGE HAD BEEN RELEASED IN APRIL OF 2002, AT NO TIME WAS IT MENTIONED TO ME AS A POSSIBLE SOURCE FOR THESE PROBLEMS.*SEP 2004: I WENT BACK TO WORLD OF FORD WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS MENTIONED ABOVE, PLUS THE TRIP METER/ODOMETER WAS BLINKING IN AND OUT. THEY REPLACED THE LED AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS UNDER THE DRIVER SEAT, AND FIXED THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH. *JB
RE: 2000 FORD EXPEDITION, CHILD SAFETY LOCKS/REAR DOOR LATCHES CHILD SAFETY LOCK ON REAR DOORS ACTIVATE BY THEMSELVES, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN REAR DOORS FROM INSIDE. FORD WAS CONTACTED ALREADY BUT THEY MENTIONED THAT THIS IS NOT A RECALL AND IF REPAIRS ARE NECESSARY IT WILL BE AT MY EXPENSE. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR PASSENGERS IN THE BACK SEAT AND IT COULD LEAD TO A TRAGEDY WHICH WILL AFFECT MY FAMILY AND OTHER FORD EXPEDITION OWNERS AS WELL. *AK

DURING WET ROAD CONDITION TRUCK HYDROPLANES. CONSUMER HAS NO CONTROL . CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED FORD. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT BEHIND OTHER VEHICLES, MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED PUSHING ME INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF MINE. APPLYING FULL PRESSURE WITH BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, MY VEHICLE CONTINUED TO LURCH FORWARD INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AND PUSHING IT INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. I HAD TO PUT MY CAR INTO PARK AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE TO GET IT TO STOP LURCHING FORWARD. IT MUST HAVE LURCHED FORWARD 3 OR 4 TIMES INTO THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME AFTER MAKING INITIAL HIT. WE'VE NOTICED WHERE THE IDLE WOULD INCREASE IN THE PAST BUT NOTHING THAT SEEMED TO BE DANGEROUS IN ANY WAY. WE HAD A 98 EXPIDITION THAT WOULD INCREASE IN RPM'S AND LURCH FORWARD AND HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THAT DRIVER IN THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME COMPLAINED OF NECK PROBLEMS AND HAD TO BE TAKEN IN AN AMBULANCE. *AK
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING INSIDE OF A PARKING LOT OF A DRIVE THROUGH WINDOW. CONSUMER PULLED FORWARD, AND VEHICLE PUT ITSELF INTO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. CONSUMER COULDN'T DISENGAGE SYSTEM. TURNED, VEHICLE OFF AND IT WAS STILL IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. IT FELT LIKE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ON. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM. ALSO, VEHICLE WAS TOWED TWICE FOR SAME PROBLEM.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 65-70 MPH AND WITHOUT WARNING, GENERAL TIRE SIZE 275/60R17, DOT ADT044T2300, RIGHT REAR AND LEFT REAR TREAD SEPARATED. CONSUMER HAS NOTIFIED DEALER AND MANUFACTURER. *AK *YD

WHILE CHILD WAS OPENING OUTSIDE DOOR BY HANDLE CHILD'S TWO FINGERS GOT CAUGHT BY INSIDE OF HANDLE AND WERE CUT. *AK *YH
METAL SUPPORT POST ON DRIVER'S SIDE IS RIPPING APART. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED, AND WANTED TO PATCH IT UP. FEEL FREEE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND RADIO STOPPED WORKING. WHEN SHUTTING OFF ENGINE, HEATER BLOWER BLEWOUT COLD AIR FULL BLAST, AND STARTER KEPT CLICKING. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER TWICE, COULD NOT REMEDY PROBLEM. PLEASE ADD FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING HEARD NOISE COMING FROM REAR OF VEHICLE. DEALER WAS CONTACTED, AND TECHNICIAN STATED BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, REPAIRS WERE MADE. WHILE TRAVELING REAR TIRE (GENERAL TIRE 17 INCH, NO DOT #) HAD A BLOWOUT, CAUSING CONSUMER TO LOSE CONTROL OF VEHICLE, DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES. *AK *TT
ONE OF FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT TIRES, SIZE: P255/70R16, DOT: W2CUIRD030 ON 2000, FORD, EXPEDITION HAS CUTS IN SIDEWALL. THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 9400 MILES ON THE TIRE, AND IT IS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT FOR VEHICLE. CUTS HAVE AN ARC SHAPE THAT COVERS 20% OF SIDEWALL. *AK *JB
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 25MPH BACK END DROPPED. MECHANIC STATED THAT IT WAS DEFECTIVE SUSPENSION, AND POSSIBLY CAME THAT WAY FROM MANUFACTURER. NO INJURIES IN THIS ACCIDENT. *AK
THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES ENGAGED WITHOUT CAUSE. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY THE REAR END, AND REPLACED IT, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *JB
CONSUMER STATED WHILE HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE, IT WOULD NOT STOP OR SLOW DOWN AT A RED LIGHT, THE VEHICLE SWERVED MISSING 2 OTHER VEHICLES, VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED, HOWEVER DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM.*JB
ALL THE TIRES I AM REPORTING WENT BAD WHILE I HAD SMALL CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. ALL OF THEM WENT BAD AS THE RESULT OF A SEPARATION. THEY ALL GOT BIG BUBBLES IN THEM WHERE THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE REST OF THE TIRE. I BELIEVE THAT THE ONLY REASON I DIDN'T HAVE A BIG ACCIDENT WAS BECAUSE I COULD FEEL THE VEHICLE WOBBLING WHEN I DROVE, DUE TO THE BUBBLE IN THE TIRE. I FIND IT VERY INTERESTING THAT THESE TIRES ALL CAME APPART AT APPX. 25000 MILES. I HAD THE FOURTH TIRE REPLACED BEFORE IT COULD GO OUT ON ME TOO.*AK (TIRESIZE: 275/6017)
CONSUMER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF RECALL 01V258000 CONCERNING WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR FAILURE, AND WAS REFUSED SERVICE BY DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP RAN VEHICLE ID NUMBER AND SHOWED THAT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL EVEN THOUGH HE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION THROUGH MAIL. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / ATTACHMENTS.*AK
BOTH REAR TIRES HAD TREAD SEPARATION AND A BLOW OUT OCCURRED ON ONE OF THEM .... THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO THE DEALERS AND HAD BRAKE REPAIRS AT APPROX. 34,000 MILES . FROM INITIAL LEASE OF VEHICLE, THERE WERE COMPLAINTS OF ROUGH RIDE AND APPARENT TIRE PROBLEMS. THE DEALER NEVER MADE ANY OFFER TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM BUT BALANCED AND ROTATED THE TIRES. UPON TAKING THIS PROBLEM TO THEM ON 09/04/2001 THEY DISCLAIMED ANY KNOWLEDGE OR ASSISTANCE IN ADJUSTING THE OBVIOUS MALFUNCTION OF THE GENERAL TIRE WHICH BLEW OUT... UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A TIRE STORE AND HAD THEM CHECK THE TIRES FOR ANY OTHER DAMAGE THEY DISCOVERED THAT ANOTHER TIRE HAD A SEPARATION OF THE TREAD AND HAD A KNOT ON THE TIRE WHICH WAS JUST BEGINNING TO WARE. ALL TIRES HAD PROPER AIR PRESSURE. I HAVE KEPT THESE TIRES FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION AND COMPLAINT FOLLOW-UP.*AK (TIRESIZE: 275X60R17)
CONSUMER WAS PULLING INSIDE OF A PARKING LOT APPLIED BRAKES AND PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *AK
VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY JUMPS INTO 4-WHEEL LOW WHEN IN REVERSE, AND THENJUMPS IN 4-WHEEL HIGH WHEN IN DRIVE. SWITCH IS SUPPOSE TO CONTROL 4-WHEEL DRIVE ON AND OFF.*AK
THE CENTER TREAD OF THE LEFT REAR TIRE CAME OFF WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING. THE TREAD DAMAGED THE BACK QUARTER PANEL AND THE REAR OF THE VEHCILE. THE CONSUMER WAS SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE COST OF THE TIRE AND REPAIRE TO THE VEHICLE. TIRE WAS GERERAL P275/60R17. *YH
ON THE 8 PASSENGER FORD EXPEDITION, THE STEP DOWN LEDGE INSIDE THE VEHICLE, IS TOO NARROW WHEN THE SECOND ROW SEAT IS IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION. THE DROP DOWN IS SLIGHT AND THE WIDTH IS NARROW. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEP OUT OF THE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY BACKWARDS. OUR VEHICLE CONTAINS 2 BOOSTER SEATS ONE CAR SEAT AND ONE INFANT CARRIER. THIS BEING THE CASE, WE ARE USUALLY STEPPING OUT BACKWARDS WITH A CHILD/INFANT IN HAND. I INJURED MY ELBOW BRACING MYSELF SO THAT I DIDN'T DROP MY 7 WEEK OLD AFTER SLIPPING ON THIS LEDGE. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST SUCH INCIDENT. I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE TO DO THIS IN THIS VEHICLE.*AK
DRIVING ON HIGHWAT AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH RIGHT FRONT TIRE TREAD SEPARATED FROM TIRE COMPLETELY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO PULL TO THE RIGHT. I MANAGED TO SLOW DOWN AND PULL THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT INCIDENT. *AK (TIRESIZE: 275/60/17)
MY EXPEDITION REAR ENDED ANOTHER CAR AT 35MPH . THE WHOLE FRONT END OF MY EXPEDITION WAS CAVED IN . UPON INPACT, DRIVER'S/ PASSANGER'S AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK
REPORTED ENGINE LOSING POWER TO DEALERSHIP WHILE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY ON 2 PRIOR OCCASIONS BEFORE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN TOTALLY WHILE IN DRIVING MODE. DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM ON THOSE PRIOR VISITS. WITH THE COMPLETE POWER FAILURE, THE DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOUND THAT A FIRE HAD OCCURRED IN THE ELECTRICAL JUNCTION BOX, BURNING SEVERAL WIRES THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED. DEALER INSISTED THAT THIS TOTAL SHUTDOWN HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH PREVIOUS LOST OF POWER THAT I REPORTED TO THEM. I WAS FORTUNATE NOT TO BE IN A LOT OF TRAFFIC WHEN MY FAILURE OCCURRED, BUT THE NEXT PERSON MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY.*AK

I CAN PROVIDE DOT # FROM PHOTOGRAPHS TAKEN. ALL FOUR TIRES DEVELOPED 1-3 INCH CRACKS ON THE INNER SIDE OF TIRE APPROX. 1 INCH ABOVE BEAD AND INCLUDING THE BEAD ON ONE TIRE. GENERAL TIRE DEALER IDENTIFIED FAILURE. GENERAL 800 COULD NOT OFFER ANY HELP. CLOSEUP PHOTOS WERE TAKEN OF FAILURES.*AK (TIRESIZE: P275/60R17)
PASSENGER'S SEAT LATCH WHICH HOLDS BACK REST IN PLACE HAS BROKEN, CAUSING THE SEATBACK REST TO MOVE BACK AND FORTH. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED, AND UNWILLING TO ASSIST BECAUSE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF ITS WARRANTY, AND NOT COVERED UNDER A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL. *AK *SLC
SINCE PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE IN MARCH 2000, WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH ROUGH IDLING, TRANSMISSION NOT WANTING TO SHIFT, FRONT END CLUNKING, REAR END SUSPENSION AND SUDDEN ACCELERATION. EXTENSIVE REPAIRS HAVE BEEN DONE ON THIS VEHICLE, INCLUDING REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION, YET NONE OF THE ABOVE ITEMS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING A VEHICLE WHEN SUDDENLY IT WILL ACCELERATE AND DRIVE ON ITS OWN. THE CAR CAN DRIVE AT 50 - 60 MPH FOR SEVERAL MILES WITHOUT STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR. WHEN STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE ENGINE, WATCH THE RPM'S AND BE READY TO PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND PUSH FORCEFULLY ON THE BRAKES TO KEEP THE CAR FROM PLOWING INTO THE CAR AHEAD. LAST WEEK I PULLED INTO THE BANK PARKING LOT AND WITH NO WARNING THE CAR'S RPM'S JUMPED TO 3,000 AND I BARELY MISSED HITTING TWO PARKED CARS. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT END MAKES HARD, LOUD GRINDING NOISES, WHEN BACKING UP THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE GOES OUT AND IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR HAS TWO FLAT TIRES. IT ALSO DOES THIS SOMETIME GOING FORWARD AND TURNING, SO IT IS DIFFICULT TO STEER WHEN IT DOES THIS. FROM THE DAY THAT THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED IT HAS IDLED LIKE AN OLD CAR THAT DESPERATELY NEEDS A TUNE UP. ALL THESE PROBLEMS STILL EXIST AFTER HAVING THE CAR BE AT THE DEALER FOR 39 DAYS THIS YEAR. INJECTOR IN CYLINDER #5 WAS HELD WIDE OPEN WHICH ALLOWED RAW FUEL TO SATURATE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, WHICH ENDED UP RUNNING OUT OF EXHAUST. DEALERSHIP HAS EXAMINED VEHICLE, AND WAS GOING TO REPLACE ENGINE BLOCK WITHOUT RENEWING ANY WARRANTY ON VEHICLE. *AK CONSUMER IS REQUESTING THAT FORD BUY BACK THE VEHICLE, CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHIMMY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES, MECHANIC INFORMED CONSUMER THAT VEHICLE COULD HAVE BLOWN UP DUE TO THE BENT PISTON ROD AND STATED THAT ONCE THE INJECTOR STICKS OPEN, THE ENGINE COMPUTER DOES NOT SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN BUT LEANS TO OTHER CYLINDERS OUT AND KEEPS POURING THE FUEL TO THE STUCK INJECTOR STRAIGHT IN THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, CONSUMER IS ALSO ANGRY BECAUSE A REBUILT ENGINE IS BEING PUT IN THE VEHICLE INSTEAD OF A NEW ENGINE. *SLC
I HAVE NOW REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS 3 TIMES SINCE BUYING THIS 2000 FORD EXPEDITION IN LATE 2000. I WAS INFORMED BY A FORMER SERVICE MANAGER FROM FORD THAT THIS DEFECT IS KNOWN AND WIDE SPREAD. WHAT HE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THEY RECEIVED A LARGE LOT OF FRONT RIGHT BRAKE LINES THAT WERE TO SMALL OR CONCLUDED ENOUGH SO AS NOT TO LET THE CALIPER COMPLETELY RELEASE THE PADS FROM THE ROTOR CAUSING FAILURE OF BOTH IN AS LITTLE AS 15000 MILES. THERE IS A COVER UP AND PEOPLE ARE PROBABLY HAVING ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS DEFECT. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD. WE ALSO HAD THE LEAKING WINDSHIELD OVER THE DRIVERS SIDE THAT WOULD LEAK INTO THE ELECTRICAL BOARDS IN THE DASH CAUSING THE LIGHTS TO GO OUT/THE RADIO TO GO OFF AND ON BY ITSELF. THE WORST WAS IT TRYING TO START WITH NO KEY OR PERSON IN THE VEHICLE AND RUINING THE STARTER AND THE BATTERY. DO NOT BUY THIS VEHICLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! BECAUSE FORD STILL LIES THAT THESE ARE NOT THEIR PROBLEMS. *JB
TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT APPROX. 4000 MILES. FORD REPLACED TRANSMISSION UNDER WARRANTY, BUT FORD WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WITH EXPEDITION. I FEEL TRANSMISSION SHOULD BE ON FORD RECALL LIST. I KNOW OF NUMEROUS OTHER EXPEDITION OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THEIR TRANSMISSIONS. I ALSO HAVE AN ENGINE ACCELERATION PROBLEM, WHICH FORD HAS ACKNOWLEDGED IS VERY COMMON ON THE EXPEDITION. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO FIX IT ON 8/27/01. FORD TECH. THE VEHICLE HANDLED SO BADLY BECAUSE OF VIBRATION AND IRREGULAR TIRE WEAR, CONSUMER WAS FORCED TO REPLACE THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE. A RECALL NOTICE WAS SENT SHORTLY AFTER CONCERNING THE TIRES. CONSUEMR REQUESTS REIMBURSEMENT, BUT HAS HAD NO HELP FROM CONTINENTAL. TIRES ARE CONTINENTAL GENERAL GRABBER AW. *JG

I HAD 4 TIRES REPLACED DUE TO IRREGULAR TREAD WEAR ON MAY 22, 2001. I JUST RECENTLY RECEIVED A NOTICE IN THE MAIL STATING THAT THESE PARTICULAR TIRES WERE RECALLED, BUT IN ORDER TO BE REIMBURSED FOR MY PURCHASE, I WOULD HAVE HAD TO PURCHASE THE TIRES BETWEEN AUGUST 19, 2001 AND OCTOBER 10, 2002. THE TIME PERIOD IS INADEQUATE IN MY CASE. A DEFECTIVE TIRE IS A DEFECTIVE TIRE. I FEEL AS THOUGH I AM BEING PENALIZED BECAUSE MY TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED EARLIER THAN THE ALLOTTED DATES. ESSENTIALLY, IF I HAD WAITED 3 MORE MONTHS TO HAVE MY TIRES REPLACED, PERHAPS INJURING MYSELF AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD, THEN I COULD HAVE BEEN REIMBURSED. THE TIME PERIOD NEEDS TO EXTENDED ON THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TIRES. DT
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL AT LOW SPEED BRAKES FAILED. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC INFORMED DETERMINED THAT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND REPLACED THEM. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED, AND THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. *AK
HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF ON AT LEAST THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AND TOWING A 4X8 FT U-HAUL TRAILER WITH THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH IN THE AUTOLAMP CONTROL POSITION. I WAS FOLLOWING MY WIFE IN HER VEHICLE AND SHE OBSERVED THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD PERIODICALLY BE OFF FOR A PERIOD OF TIME AND THEN BE ON AGAIN. SHE MENTIONED THIS TO ME WHEN WE STOPPED AT A REST AREA AND I TOLD HER I DID NOT TURN THE HEADLIGHTS OFF OR ON . I HAVE LEFT THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH IN THE AUTOLAMP CONTROL POSITION SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW (PAST 19 MONTHS). THAT ALLOWS ME TO START THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE WITH THE LIGHTS ON UPON STARTING AND THE HEADLIGHTS REMAIN ON FOR 12-20 SECONDS UPON TURNING THE IGNITION OFF AND GETTING OUT OF THE VEHILCE. I WILL BE TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER IN FRANKLIN NC ON THURSDAY, MAY 24, 2001 TO HAVE THEM TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM.*AK

THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT. *AK CONSUMER STATES TIRES HAVE SINCE BEEN RECALLED, LOCAL DEALERSHIP INITIALLY REFUSED TO REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES, THE SIDEWALL IS DETACHED FROM THE TREAD. *JB
ON 5/3/01, AT APPROX. 2:40 PM, I WAS DRIVING NORTH ON 10TH(AMSTERDAM) AVE IN MANHATTAN IN RELATIVELY LIGHT TRAFFIC AT APPROX 20-25MPH. AS I CROSSED THE INTERSECTION OF AMSTERDAM & 58TH ST, MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE UNCONTROLLABLY TOWARD A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. STANDING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH ALL MY WEIGHT ONLY MANAGED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE TO PERHAPS 30MPH, WITH ENGINE RACING AS IF THE GAS PEDAL WERE PUSHED TO THE FLOOR, WHEN OBVIOUSLY THERE WAS NO PRESSURE BEING APPLIED TO IT AT ALL. AS I CROSSED THE INTERSECTION OF 59TH ST, I MANAGED TO GENTLY EASE THE GEARSHIFT LEVER INTO NEUTRAL. THIS COMBINED WITH MY CONTINUOUS PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO NEARLY A STOP, WITH THE ENGINE STILL RACING. THE INSTANT FORWARD MOTION CEASED, THE VEHICLE LURCHED INTO REVERSE, WITH THE GEARSHIFT STILL IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION. THE VEHICLE THEN BEGAN TRAVELING BACKWARDS, ONCE AGAIN AT THE SAME HIGH RATE OF ACCELERATION. STILL STANDING ON THE BRAKE PETAL, I SWITCHED THE IGNITION OFF. A SPLIT SECOND SECOND LATER, THE RIGHT REAR QUARTER OF THE VEHICLE SLAMMED INTO AN AMBULANCE, AT A SPEED OF PERHAPS 30-35 MPH. FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE INCIDENT UNTIL THE END, I TRAVELLED ABOUT 500 FEET FORWARD AND 120 FEET IN REVERSE, CONTINUOUSLY MAINTAINING MAXIMUM PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PETAL. MY VEHICLE IMPACTED THE AMBULANCE AT THE STRONGEST PART OF ITS STRUCTURE, THE CURVED, STEEL REINFORCED FRONT CORNER OF THE AMBULANCE "BOX". HAD THE AMBULANCE BEEN 2 FEET FURTHER BACK, THE DRIVER WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED INSTANTLY. THERE WERE 3 EMT'S IN THE FRONT OF THE AMBULANCE, AND NO PASSENGER OR PERSONEL IN THE REAR. ALL OF THEM SAW EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE DESCRIBED, AND I AM SURE THEIR STATEMENTS ABOUT THE MOVEMENTS OF MY VEHICLE WILL CORROBORATE MY DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCIDENT. I WAS EXTREMELY FORTUNATE TO IMPACT A VEHICLE WITH ENOUGH MASS TO STOP THE MOMENTUM OF MY 2 1/2 TON SUV. HAD I IMPACTED SMALLER PASSENGER VEHICLES OR PEDESTRIANS, MANY PEOPLE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED.*AK
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE 2000 FORD EXPEDITION XLT HAD A NUMBER OF PROBLEMS WITH THE CHILD SAFETY LOCKS. WHEN SOMEONE WAS SEATED IN THE BACK SEAT THE SAFETY LOCKS WOULD ENGAGE AUTOMATICALLY AND THE PASSENGER COULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR. THE CONTACT SPOKE TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND STATED THAT THEY HE SHOULD HAVE THE LOCKS REPLACED AT HIS OWN COST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE FELT THAT THIS IS SAFETY PROBLEM IF A CRASH OCCURRED THE BACK PASSENGERS COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE ON HIS/HER OWN. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS GIVEN CASE # 1453250607. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 88000.*AK UPDATED 03/19/07. *JB
