TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 20 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE FAIL SAFE LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 168,000.
TOOK MY 2006 FORD EXPEDITION LIMITED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A TUNE-UP AND WAS TOLD OF AN ISSUE THAT THE 5.4L ENGINES HAVE. THEY MENTIONED THAT SOME 2004-2008 F-150, 2006-2008 MARK LT, 2005-2008 F-SUPER DUTY, EXPEDITION, AND NAVIGATOR, WITH 5.4L 3-V ENGINE; 2005-2008 MUSTANG, 2006-2008 EXPLORER, MOUNTAINEER, AND 2007-2008 EXPLORER SPORT TRAC WITH 4.6L 3-V ENGINE; 2005-2008 F-SUPER DUTY, 2006-2008 AND F-STRIPPED CHASSIS, WITH 6.8L 3-V ENGINE MAY EXPERIENCE DIFFICULTY WITH SPARK PLUG REMOVAL. THIS MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SPARK PLUG AND LEAVE PART OF THE SPARK PLUG IN THE CYLINDER HEAD. AFFECTED ENGINE BUILD DATES ARE AS FOLLOWS: 5.4L 3-V AND 6.8L 3-V BEFORE 10/9/07, 4.6L 3-V BEFORE 11/30/07. FORD APPERANTLY KNOWS ABOUT THIS SINCE THEY PUBLISHED A TECHNICAL BULLITIN (TSB 08-7-6) TO THE DEALERSHIPS. NOW THE CONSUMER, WHO WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT THIS WHEN THEY PURCHASE THE VEHICLE HAS TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL COST FOR A STANDARD TUNE-UP. WHEN ASKED WHY, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT MENTIONED THAT THE COST IS FOR THE REMOVAL OF BROKEN PLUGS THAT THEY KNOW THEY WILL BREAK. WHY WOULD I HAVE TO PAY ADDITIONAL MONEY FOR DAMAGE DONE BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR AN ISSUE CREATED BY FORD MOTOR CO. IF THE PLUGS ARE DEFECTIVE AND FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS, THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSABLE OR A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. THIS TO ME IS FRAUD BY HAVING THE COSTUMER PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKES. *TT

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC TR TIRES, SIZED 265/70/R17 WITH A DOT NUMBER OF A3T645RW. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE TREAD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR TIRE SEPARATED AND THE CONTACT BEGAN TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, EXTENSIVE DAMAGED WAS INFLICTED ON THE REAR BUMPED AND TAIL LIGHTS. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE STATED TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 60,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2006 FORD EXPEDITION ON THE HIGHWAY, THERE WAS A COMPLETE THREAD SEPARATION IN ONE OF THE REAR TIRES, (CONTINENTAL, CONTITRAC SUV, P265-70R17), THE TRIMMING BEHIND THE TIRE WELL WAS DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE'S ODOMETER REGISTERS 43,993 MILES. *TR

2006 FORD EXPEDITION INVOLVED IN HEAD ON ACCIDENT AND AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. FORD EXPEDITION WAS DRIVING SOUTHBOUND ON A FOUR LANE DIVIDED STREET ABOUT 30-35 MPH WHEN A MINIVAN TRAVELING NORTHBOUND BLINDLY TRIED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN INTO A SHOPPING PLAZA AND TURNED RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. AN RV WAS SITTING IN THE CENTER MEDIAN BLOCKING HER VIEW. I HIT HER PASSENGER REAR SIDE HEAD ON. I HAD 3 CHILDREN IN THE CAR. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. WHY THE HECK DO I EVEN HAVE THEM IF THEY AREN'T GOING TO WORK WHEN NEEDED? I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING. I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN MY EXPEDITION AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT AGAIN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT CARBON BUILT UP AROUND THE SPARK PLUGS AND HE WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE IT SINCE ONE OF THE SPARK PLUGS FRACTURED IN HALF AND THE OTHER PART WAS STUCK IN THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, IF HE WERE TO REMOVE THEM IT WOULD CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
FALSE ACTIVATION OF "ENGINE FAILURE MODE" SYSTEM. ENGINE WENT TO IDLE SPEED, ALL GAUGES READ NORMALLY AND NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. ENGINE TEMPERATURE WAS IN NORMAL RANGE. "ENGINE FAILURE MODE" MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED ON MESSAGE PANEL. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY COAST OFF THE ROAD AND STOP THE VEHICLE. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, AND OBSERVED THAT THE ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL IN THE COOLANT TANK WAS NORMAL. I THEN RESTARTED THE ENGINE, AND VEHICLE THEN OPERATED NORMALLY.
I WAS COMING ACROSS ARIZONA, INTERSTATE 10 IN MY 2006 EXPEDITION HEADING HOME TO SAN DIEGO WHEN MY "ENGINE FAILSAFE MODE" INDICATOR CAME ON, THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ON AND SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN. THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT NEVER WENT OFF UNTIL I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC THE FOLLOWING MORNING. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT I NEED TO HAVE THE THROTTLE CLEANED OUT AND MAY NEED A NEW SENSOR FOR THE SIDE OF THE THROTTLE REPLACED. I HAVE 59K MILES ON MY VEHICLE AND HAVE THE MAINT. COMPLETED EVERY 4K TO 6K AND HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FROM THE START. I HAD 2 MILES ON THE VEHICLE WHEN WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN OCT 2005. AFTER READING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH OTHER OWNERS I THINK FORD SHOULD BE ABLE TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THE PROBLEM WITHOUT CHARGING THE CUSTOMER. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME. BOTH TIMES WE HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL TURNED ON. AFTER STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE PART OF ARIZONA ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WE RESTARTED THE MOTOR AND MADE IT BACK HOME AFTER OUR VACATION. *TR
THERE IS NO WARNING - MY FORD EXPEDITION JUST GOES INTO ENGINE FAIL SAFE MODE AND SHUTS OFF - NO ABILITY TO STEER, DRIVE ETC. WAS TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (55+ MPH) WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE ENGINE FAIL SAFE HAD COME ON BEFORE BUT WAS A BIT SCARY UPON DRIVING AT A SPEED. THE DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 55000 MILES ON IT - AND FROM READING OTHER FORUMS I SEE THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH A LOT OF FORD EXPEDITIONS. IT IS IN THE SHOP NOW (AT A COST OF $700) BEING FIXED, I AM GOING TO REQUEST TO HAVE THE OLD PARTS SAVED SO I CAN KEEP FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED AS IT WILL CAUSE A DEATH ONE DAY SOON - AS THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF DURING DRIVING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECELERATE INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED FROM THE ROADWAY AND WHEN THE CONTAC EXITED, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL BURNING ODOR AND BLACK SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE TAILPIPE. THE POLICE WERE DISPATCHED AND WHEN THEY ARRIVED AND OPENED THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR, THICK BLACK SMOKE WAS POURING OUT FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE ALSO FLAMES FROM THE INTERIOR AND UNDER THE FRAME. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE FIRE CHIEF ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE FUEL LINE AND AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THE FIRE BUT THE RESULTS WERE INCONCLUSIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE CONTACTS INSURANCE COMPANY. THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED TO REPORT THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.

VEHICLE HAS BEEN SPUTTERING WHEN ACCELERATING AT ABOUT 40MPH. SPARK PLUGS ARE "SEERED" AND FORD MECHANIC TELLS US ITS A KNOWN PROBLEM, BUT NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY BECAUSE SPARK PLUGS ARE CONSIDERED MAINTENANCE. THE MANUAL SAYS WE THE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE IS 100,000 MILES AND WE ARE ONLY AT 76,000. IF THEY ARE KNOWN TO BE FAULTY AND WE ARE NOT NEAR THE SCHEDULED/RECOMMENDED MAINTEANCE THEN SHOULDN'T THIS BE A WARRANTY ISSUE? I THINK FORD IS MILKING ITS CUSTOMERS WITH FAULTY PARTS AS I HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY BRAKES. IT FEELS AS IF I AM LANDING A PLANE WHEN I COME TO A STOP WITH ALL THE SHAKNIG AN RATTLING. I WAS TOLD THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE FORD BRAKES - THEY JUST WARP. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAIL SAFE MODE SYMBOL ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD AS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. A PRIVATE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM THE MANUFACTURER NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
THE VEHICLE ENTERS ENGINE FAIL SAFE MODE. AT THIS POINT, THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF AND YOU WILL LOSE ENGINE POWER AND STEERING CAPABILITIES. THIS IS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING 70 MILES PER HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY. IT WILL EVENTUALLY KILL SOMEONE IF IT HAS NOT ALREADY. FORD HAS DROPPED THE BALL ON THIS ONE. THE REPAIR IS A $600 - $800 THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. FORD SHOULD BE EATING THIS COST.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR SPORADICALLY WHEN TRAVELING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AND WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPAIRED THE THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASSEMBLY, STATING THAT THE VEHICLE HAD ENGAGED IN FAIL-SAFE MODE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 51,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,500.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THE COOLANT HOSE IN THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING INTO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE RADIATOR TO MALFUNCTION. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE DEALER TO HAVE THE HOSE REPLACED, THE DEALER STATED THE HOSE WAS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT OFF INTERMITTENTLY DUE TO THE FAULTY HOSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
2006 FORD EXPEDITION. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE WILL ACTIVATE THE ENGINE FAIL SAFE MODE AND VEHICLE WILL SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN, LOSS OF POWER STEERING OCCURRED. THE CONSUMER STATED UPON STOPPING, HE DISCOVERED THAT TURNING THE IGNITION SWITCH TO THE OFF POSITION AND TURNING IT BACK TO THE ON POSITION, THE ENGINE WOULD RE-START. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANY PROBLEM BY RUNNING A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK. THE CONSUMER STATED NO WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED, EXCEPT WHEN THE ENGINE FAIL SAFE MODE ACTIVATED. THE ENGINE SAFE MODE WARNING DISAPPEARED UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE. *JB
2006 FORD EXPEDITION E.B. AND ENGINE FAILSAFE MODE 1. THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE: THERE ARE NO DETECTABLE EVENTS PRECEDING WHATEVER CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO "ENGINE FAILSAFE" MODE. THE VEHICLE RUNS FINE AS IT ALWAYS DOES AND THEN IT JUST HAPPENS RANDOMLY. 2. THE FAILURE, HOW OFTEN IT OCCURS, ITS CONSEQUENCES: FAILURE OCCURS AT RANDOM AND IS NOT PREDICTABLE IT JUST HAPPENS. THE VEHICLE OPERATES NORMALLY AS IT SHOULD AND IN A SPILT SECOND IT IS LIKE THE VEHICLE JUST SHUTS OFF, THE INFORMATION CENTER DISPLAYS "ENGINE IN FAILSAFE MODE". THE ENGINE IS ACTUALLY RUNNING IN FAILSAFE MODE BUT ONLY AT AN IDLE, THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES FUNCTION HOWEVER THE THROTTLE IS TOTALLY UNRESPONSIVE IN FAILSAFE MODE, THE VEHICLE SLOWS TO A CREEP AND WILL STOP AT THE SLIGHTEST INCLINE. WHEN THE VEHICLE STOPS THE ONLY AVAILABLE OPTION IS TO TURN THE KEY OFF AND RESTART. THE VEHICLE ALWAYS RESTARTS AND RESUMES NORMAL OPERATION AND DRIVEABILTY IS FINE, JUST AS THOUGH NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. THE OCCURRENCE FIRST HAPPENED EARLY IN JANUARY 2010, AGAIN IN LATE JANUARY, THEN IN SEPTEMBER 2010 THEN AGAIN ON FEBRUARY 26 THEN TWICE TODAY FEBRUARY 28 ABOUT 20 MINUTES APART. THE CONSEQUENCES: SCARY, DANGEROUS, HAZARDOUS. FEELS LIKE AN INSURANCE CLAIM AND/OR A LAWSUIT WAITING TO HAPPEN. WHEN A VEHICLE UNDER POWER JUST SHUTS OFF INSTANTLY FOR NO APPARENT REASON IT IS LOGICAL SERIOUS INJURY OR WORSE IS A REALISTIC CONSEQUENCE. 3. WHAT WAS DONE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE: SO FAR JUST A LOT OF FORD GUESSWORK. THE INTERNET HAS A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF CONSUMER POSTS REGARDING VARIOUS REPAIRS MADE. THE REPORTED REPAIRS RANGE FROM SENSORS, SPARK PLUGS, COILS, CATS,FILTERS, CONVERTERS AND MORE. THE COMMON THREAD IN THESE CONSUMER REPORTS IS THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AND OCCURS RANDOMLY AFTER REPAIR. *TR
FOR THE FOURTH TIME IN THE PAST 2 YEARS THE SUV HAS SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE DASHBOAD LIGHTS UP, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP, AND COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN WHILE IN TRAFFIC. NO WARNING. HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN TWICE, BUT NO CODES HAVE SHOWN UP ON THE DIAGNOSTICS. THIS IS EXTREMELTY UNSAFE AND COULD RESULT IN A AN ACCIDENT HARMING MY FAMILY, ANOTHER FAMILY OR BOTH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO LOCATED A FAILURE WITHIN THE THROTTLE BODY. THE LOCAL MECHANIC CLEANED THE FUEL SYSTEM AND REPLACED THE THROTTLE SENSOR. THE FAILURE CONTINUED. A PERSON RECOMMENDED THAT I REPLACE THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR ,SO I DID AT BOB BOYD FORD FOR $196.58. I ALSO KEPT THE OLD PART.THE NEW PART IS DIFFERENT IN SIZE & HAS METAL KEY HOLES INSTEAD OF PLASTIC. THE FAIL SAFE ENGINE IS ONLY SUPPOSE TO COME ON IF THE ENGINE COOLANT IS VERY LOW ACCORDING TO THE FORD OWNERS MANUAL, THERE WAS NO REASON FOR IT TO COME ON AT ANY TIME IN MY SUV TRUCK. FORD WROTE ME & THE OHIO ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE & SAID THAT I HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR ON MY OWN & ME PAYING FOR IT ( CASE CLOSED). AFTER COASTING INTO A PARKING LOT, SHE TURNED IT OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON. IT STARTED RIGHT UP AND SHE WENT ON HER WAY. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO SAID HE COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I HAVE FOUND 100'S OF '06 EXPEDITIONS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS TO POINT TO THE THROTTLE BODY. A RECENT AC REPAIR TO THIS CAR WAS ALMOST $800.00 AND NOW I AM HEARING TO REPAIR THE THROTTLE BODY IS UPWARD TO $700-$800. $1500 OF REPAIRS ON A CAR WITH ONLY 45,000 MILES IS UNACCEPTABLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO LOCATE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE THROTTLE CONTROL AND BELIEVED IT TO BE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
I HAVE A 2006 FORD EXPEDITION AND MY WIFE ALMOST LOST CONTROL AND HIT A CAR WHEN THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD "SPONGY BRAKES" SINCE I BOUGHT IT AND HAD IT TO THE DEALER TWICE. THERE IS A TSB TO REPLACE THE FRONT CALIPER/ROTOR AND PADS AND FORD DID THIS BUT IT STILL FEELS SPONGY AND IS NOW LEAKING FLUID. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE ON MANY EXPEDITIONS AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL RATHER THAN A TSB. THIS IS AN INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN THE BRAKES FAIL. I KNOW I HAVE HAD INSTANCES WHERE I LITERALLY NEED TO STAND ON THE BRAKES TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. *TR
MY WIFE, THREE KIDS AND MYSELF WERE IN OUR 2006 FORD EXPEDITION LIMITED COMING DOWN A MOUNTAIN PASS IN LAKE TAHOE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE STOPPED! A CODE ON THE DASH READ "FAIL SAFE ENGINE MODE". THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND THERE WAS NO POWER, NO ACCELERATION. I WAS LUCKY TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE FOLLOWING DAY, I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE CARSON CITY, NV FORD DEALER AND PAID FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. NOTES FROM DEALER: ROAD TEST COULD NOT VERIFY. PERFORMED EEC SELF TEST, HAS CODE P0104. PERFORMED WIGGLE TEST AND PINPOINT TESTS. PERFORMED RECORDER-MONITOR TEST ALL THE PIDS LOOKED GOOD. REMOVED THE MAF SENSOR. HAS DEBRIS ON THE MAF SENSOR WIRES. RECOMMEND A NEW MAF SENSOR." I PUT IN A NEW MAF SENSOR AND AIR FILTER. IN DRIVING LESS THAN 3 MILES AFTER THIS WAS DONE, THE TRUCK DID THE SAME THING. THE "FAIL SAFE ENGINE MODE" CAME ON, LOSS OF POWER AND ACCELERATION. I HAD TO TURN THE TRUCK OFF COMPLETELY, REMOVE KEY AND RESTART. THEN THE TRUCK DID NOT HOLD THE IDLE AND DIED. AFTER A SECOND TIME, THE TRUCK RESTARTED. I AM STILL DRIVING WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OFF AND HAVE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WITH THE FORD DEALER TOMORROW MORNING (6-24-10) TO SEE WHAT IS GOING ON. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO LEAVE TOMORROW AND DRIVE 1100 MILES TO RETURN TO DENVER. *TR
