The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the roadway and the vehicle was restarted. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 109,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V648000 (Visibility, Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while reversing, the rear camera intermittently displayed a blank image or a blue screen. The message "Camera Not Available" was displayed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
The rear actuator has gone out 4 years in a row and breaks within less than a year from getting repaired by ford dealers only. The rear camera is always blacking out too. This also has to be replaced each year and a half for the past 5 years.
In June 2023 there was a strong burning smell in our 2016 Expedition's cabin. We took the vehicle to a mechanic and they found that a small fire had started around the blower motor that burned up the wires in/around the blower motor. The mechanic replaced the control board and harness. They replaced parts AAABL3Z-19E624-B and AAAFLlZ-188518-G. Then in August 2023 I received a recall notice from Ford for the blower motor. This was the first correspondence I had received from Ford that the blower motor had been recalled. I contacted a Ford dealer, Apple Ford Lincoln in Apple Valley, MN, on August 9th and requested reimbursement for the above parts along with a replacement of the blower motor under the recall. I have been calling and emailing the dealer weekly since August 9th and continue to be told the blower motor under the recall has been on backorder for months with no ETA on the part. On the morning of 10/16/2023, I smelled a burning smell in the cabin of the vehicle similar to the smell from June 2023 and the smell was still present after the vehicle sitting for 3 hours after driving. I would appreciate support with this issue.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The check engine and transmission warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the lead frame needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 38,484. The contact stated that the lead frame was replaced, and a sensor was added to the vehicle. However, that did not help the issue and the recall repair has yet to be performed.
Warped exhaust manifold leaking exhaust into main cabin, broken studs on engine block. Thousands of incidents of reported online.
When backing up the camera goes out and I cannot see what is behind me. This keeps happening intermittently.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that the failure occurred while driving in the mountains and the vehicle was stuck in the middle of the road. The contact stated that after several attempts, the vehicle restarted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure had occurred several times; however, the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the failure was not duplicated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
I was driving at ~40 mph and the car suddenly lost power and decelerated. The wrench dash light came on. The car was forced into limp mode. The p2112 code showed on my OBD scanner. The code indicates a throttle body actuator stuck closed. The car started to run very rough, was stuck in 2nd gear and would only do 5 mph. Upon turning off and restarting vehicle the wrench light turned off and the throttle response was normal. I will have to replace the throttle body at my expense as the car is past warranty. I will keep the part for inspection. The road was relatively empty so it did not cause an accident. In heavy traffic at highway speeds this might have caused an injury wreck. The sudden deceleration without any brake lights could easily result in a rear end collision. If the deceleration happened in the middle of an intersection, a side impact or offset front collision could be the result. I have multiple scan tools and am quite proficient at using them. I also have access to the ford service manuals for my vehicle. No one has inspected the part. The vehicle had no warning lamps prior to incident. The wrench light came on at the same time the car suddenly decelerated.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that an unknown fluid was leaking from the vehicle in two locations. The engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and informed about a possible catalytic converter failure. The mechanic blew out the parts. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the valve cover gasket was fractured, and the catalytic converter and vacuum pump needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the parts were not available. The dealer used silicon to secure the valve cover gasket. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving 15 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop immediately. The contact activated the parking brake to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V150000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle with brake master cylinder and brake booster failure. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed with hydraulic control unit failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact the vehicle was not covered under the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
Multiple times while driving the vehicle I had trouble getting the brakes to work while driving and needing to slow down or coming to a complete stop. This almost resulted in an accident 2 times. We thought it was the current related to recall 22S11 which we had fixed already in July 2022. However, it is an issue that is not a reported recall at the moment. It is for the Hydrolic Control Unit. Ford will not replace this part at their cost and is forcing me to pay even though it is a major safety issue.
Hello, on a number of occasions (while driving on the highway and attempting a stop at a light) our brake system has gone unresponsive. It almost caused a collision the other day when I was approaching a red light. What happens is I push the brake, and then it almost feels like there is no resistance whatsoever and it goes soft, then I have to push very hard all the way down (pedal to the metal) on the brake to get it to stop. Ford tells me my vehicle is not part of this recall for brake issues, but it is just a little suspcious that I have the same kind of car where there is a brake recall issue. https://www.consumerreports.org/car-recalls-defects/ford-suv-pickup-recall-brake-concerns-a9762212717/#:~:text=Ford%20Recalls%20SUVs%20and%20Trucks%20With%203.5L%20Engine%20Due%20to%20Brake%20Concerns&text=Ford%20Motor%20Company%20is%20recalling,leak%2C%20eventually%20risking%20a%20crash. Recall #22S11 (22V150000). Did Ford accidentally leave my vehicle off this recall, or has this issue just not been discovered by Ford yet and I am the unlucky first person reporting an issue? This is very dangerous. We take long road trips very frequently in this vehicle.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle started smoking behind the glove box. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V648000 (Visibility, Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall was not yet available. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. While parked in her friend's driveway with her child in her car seat, the contact heard an abnormal, popping sound as she was outside of the vehicle. The vehicle began to roll back without warning with her child inside the vehicle; she attempted to hit the emergency brake but was unsuccessful. The vehicle continued to roll backward into a neighbor's fence before the vehicle came to a halt. The contact's daughter was safe inside the car seat and did not sustain any injuries; however, the contact sustained mental trauma as a result of the failure. A police report was filed due to the neighbor's damaged fence. The vehicle had yet to be diagnosed or repaired for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was given a case number; she was then referred to NHTSA for additional assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 100,200.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V648000 (Visibility, Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that while attempting to defrost the windshield, the blower was inoperable. The contact stated that the blower had not worked for several months. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the blower failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer replaced the blower motor with a spare blower motor that was in the shop. The vehicle had been partially repaired. The contact stated that the replacement blower also failed and was no longer operational. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 116,467. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Escape. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V648000 (Visibility, Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the blower motor had overheated twice, causing the wiring harness to melt. The dealer and the manufacturer stated that the melted wiring was not part of the recall repair and declined to replace the melted wiring harness. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
•Steering assist fault and yes it is available to inspect •Power steering went out while driving. Could not turn properly as vehicle was hard to turn wheel and was almost hit on icy road. Had two children and pregnant wife in vehicle with me. •Problem is continuous and has been verified by dealer as well as an independent service center. •It has been inspected by local Ford dealership •No there were no prior warnings. It just happened when driving and now happens every time on startup. No power steering. This began in November 2022. We have been patiently waiting on Ford to receive these parts as it's been confirmed that there is a failure in the power steering module. There is no update or time frame for receiving parts and getting a repair. After searching for answers it seems this has happened to many others with these same year Expeditions and F-150
The contact owned a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving at 20 MPH and the air conditioner stopped functioning. The contact heard a popping sound coming from the vehicle, the contact pulled over on the side of the road and noticed smoke was coming from under the glove department of the front passenger side. The contact proceed to check under the hood and did not see any smoking coming from under the hood. After closing the hood, the contact noticed flames coming from under the glove department on the passenger side, the contact attempted to pull the carpet to stop the flames but it was too late the vehicle was already in flames. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire, the fire department determined that the fire was caused by the air condition blower on the passenger side. A police report was filed. There were no injuries reported. The vehicle was towed, and it was deemed a total lost by the insurance company. The manufacturer was contacted, and they stated that they would contact the contact back. The failure mileage was 120,000.
We own a 2016 Expedition King Ranch Edition which we purchased new in 2016. Last September we received a recall notice on the air conditioner blower motor. Three or four days after we received the notice, our blower motor failed. We took the car to Wichita Falls Ford in Wichita Falls, Tx, which is where we normally have it serviced. They did not have the recall replacement parts at that time, and so replaced it using the original parts that they were able to obtain. About six weeks later, that blower motor also failed. They told us they were no longer able to obtain the original parts and that the recall replacement parts were still not available. We use air conditioning year round here in Texas, but we were able to get through the winter without too much discomfort. However, seven months later and apparently parts are STILL not available. The car is pretty much useless to us for the foreseeable future, now that summer temps are upon us. Are we the only ones in this predicament? I ask because it doesn’t seem to us to be a priority for Ford to come up with this part. I contacted Ford through online chat and email a couple of weeks ago to no avail.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact received a second recall notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V150000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) advising the contact to contact the dealer for recall repair; however, the dealer informed the contact that they would not complete the recall repair unless the recalled part had failed. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and followed up with the dealer. The manufacturer later informed the contact that the dealer informed them that the part to do the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time to complete the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
while operating vehicle on busy interstate bridge going uphill, engine seemed to lose power, check engine light came on along with another warning to read my owners' manual. Throttle response quit working. I was able to get to shoulder and shut off vehicle. Upon restart, vehicle ran normally for a few miles before same happened again. This occurred several more times while I nursed it home on surface streets. Independent repair shop ran code as 'Throttle body".
The vehicle is regularly surging then shifting gears with a loud "Thunk" from the transmission. It has made few scary decelerations that shook all of us in the vehicle. The speedometer will jump then drop and bounce back and forth then go to zero. The information on the left panel that shows MPG goes blank. There seems to be an existing issue that is similar with F-150s but the Ford dealer says it is the same thing from a transmission harness/sensor but not a real issue with the expedition. The airbag light comes on and the check engine light comes on. The check engine light goes away after about 24 hours. It happened 4 times yesterday and 3 times this morning. I can pull over and turn it off and then turn it on again to reboot and it will function until the next failure. I believe this has negatively impacted my transmission. It seems to be worse when it is raining, foggy, or high humidity.
2016 Ford Expedition with 55k miles. Engine blown, hole in side of block. Mechanic has said Ford is backordered 6 months for engines, with 400 in backorder in my region alone. Clearly there is an engine flaw and this engine needs to be recalled.
When using the power folding third row option appropriately, the seat got stuck on something and snapped off two of the rear seat female seatbelt connectors. This is a huge safety concern, knowing that these connectors can snap off, when we use them to secure our children.
This is in reference to Safety Recall 22S56. The recall talks about the possibility of the vehicle catching fire. I received the recall over a year ago and have contacted the dealer several times and they keep saying that a replacement part is on backorder and there's no timeline for when it'll be available. Meanwhile, I feel like my vehicle could potentially catch fire at any time. Are they allowed an unlimited amount of time to resolve the issue? I'm wondering if there's any recourse for me to get it fixed. Also, what if the vehicle catches fire before they get around to fixing it? Are they responsible for replacing the vehicle?
While driving around 30 miles an hour, the vehicle lost power and all accelerator input did not work.. The tool light came on but the vehicle was unresponsive to any accelerator input. The vehicle came to a stop in the middle of an intersection. Vehicle was turned off then back on. After which the accelerator worked. Took the vehicle to a maintenance shop, no codes were stored and couldn’t duplicate. Very dangerous to have no acceleration while driving.

3 times now, My 2016 ford expedition has randomly down shifted at high speed. first time truck down shifted to first gear and was stuck in first until I used the manual gear shift button. The second time truck downshifted from 6th gear to 4th gear on a freeway, and it was stuck in 4th gear. The engine was over revving, I had to use the manual shift button to get truck out of 4th gear. and off the freeway. Third time I was on a freeway driving at freeway speeds and it downshifted/lost power, I was nearly hit by a motor home coming up behind me and I luckily pulled off on the shoulder before being hit. Thankfully I did not have any of my 4 children in the vehicle. Once again, no warning lights or codes, just random downshift, The truck has also slammed into gear when it downshifts when I am on surface roads. That too, is random and intermitent The truck has become unsafe to drive. It has been inspected twice by AAMCO they have not found anything, no codes and could not replicate. I asked them to check the lead frame on the transmission. The truck is now at the ford Dealer, to see if they are able to find anything and replicate the issue. It has been completely random when it happens but extremely dangerous. The day I dropped off the truck at the dealer, there was a guy behind me who had the exact same issues on his ford truck. this could easily become a deadly issue if Ford does not remedy the problem. If the Dealer does not provide a solution I will sell the truck, it is not worth risking my family's life and safety.
Exhaust manifold is separating from the engine, causing a chirping noise and allowing exhaust to escape without passing through the muffler.
2016 FORD EXPEDITION. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO UNREPAIRED SAFETY RECALL.
The car is less than 6 year old and was driven less than 20,000 miles, no accidents and never off road. Left rear shock was leaking and so was the left rear axle seal, I could not tell how much differential oil was leaked out, but there is quite a lot. I feel that there could be a serious safety concern.
The vehicle was on park with engine on and all of the sudden started going in reverse. Driver was able to stop the vehicle and then it did it again.
The vehicle's blue-tooth connectivity malfunctions. Connectivity drops or occasionally does not list any connected/paired devices. Dealership ran a diagnostic and suggested replacing the APIM unit.

Unknown. Faulty apim unit, unable to upgrade. Dealer wants $1500.00 to replace. Ford has had many issues with these units
While accelerating to merge onto an interstate, the vehicle jerked aggressively with a loud "bang"(similar to sound of transmission popping out of gear). A flashing check engine light appeared and vehicle lost ability to accelerate further, but was able to maintain speed. Light smoke was noticed from rear view mirrors, followed seconds later by thick, dark smoke. Other cars began honking and waving at us. We pulled over as quickly as possible after the incident to assess. Once stopped, flames could be seen around the driverside cowl/front fender area and I yelled for my family to get out of the vehicle. The front end of the vehicle was engulfed within a couple of minutes of our safe exit.
The lug nuts are 'swollen', difficult to remove and are 'separating' according to America's Tire personnel who rotate and balance my tires.

Water/condensation build-up in charge air cooler collects in tubing and discharges into intake when quickly accelerating from a stopped position or “punching it” to pass a slower vehicle in traffic. This causes my vehicle to go into limp mode and lose all power which can be extremely dangerous in high traffic conditions.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving 2 MPH, the accelerator was depressed, and there was a grinding sound coming from the rear-end of the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed with rear differential failure. On a separate occasion, a year later the rear differential failure recured. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the rear end was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 85,913.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that after parking and turning off the vehicle, she entered the trunk, and the vehicle rolled down her driveway into traffic and crashed into a fence while her 7-month-old daughter was still inside the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that it sounded like the shifter was stuck between the gears of park and reverse. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not yet taken to a local dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic tests or repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
driving at constant speed the automobile has entered Limp Mode at which time power to the drive train is loss and it losses speed rapidly. This is the third time it has happened over a 4-5 month period.
Navigation system fails, does not route correctly. Fear for getting lost or not making appointments. Phone conversations via blue tooth on connected phones to auto will break up or drop preventing emergency calls.
Low brake fluid light comes on then brake pedal go's to the floor. Brake fluid level checks low. After refilling brake fluid it doe's the same thing. Find no sign of any brake fluid leak.
During normal dealer service interval, I was advised by car dealer that lug nuts were in need of replacement. As vehicle is less than 5 years old and has under 60k miles, I said that seemed abnormal. Service agent advised they “see it all the time.” As this seems like a safety issue, I inquired if there was a recall or service bulletin. Advised, there was none. Work was completed. I contacted Ford Motor Company and asked about issue and reimbursement. They told me it was a known issue and that no recall existed and therefore they would NOT reimburse. They told me their current position is that lug nuts are a “wear and tear item” like tires. I told them never in my life of driving (over 4 decades and in excess of million miles) have I ever been advised that lug nuts need replacing.
75k Miles, 2016 Expedition Known Throttle body issue. Engaging the "Limp Mode" Happened several times before we could get it into the dealership. Each time was at different speeds and conditions.(** Who by the way told us to just keep driving it until our dealership appointment arrived approx. 2 weeks later) Not thrilled about this issue. We purchased the vehicle as a family hauler and a road tripper. Do not like the idea of having my kids in the car and the potential of this happening in a dangerous area. Ford dealer replaced the unit 10/8/21 we will see if the replacement will be a permanent fix for the vehicle. It does seem like ford is dragging their feet on this and not issuing a recall.
