Rear camera is intermittently non-operative. Only works approximately 20% of the time. Due to the size & shape of this vehicle, this makes backing up dangerous for persons and property that are difficult to see when backing.
I had a flat tire and needed to install the spare tire. I jacked the vehicle up and tried to take the wheel lug nuts off. The manufacturer supplied lug removal bar's head would not fit over the wheel lug nuts. Consequently, I was not able to remove the flat tire and install the spare tire. Saftey was compromised by having to drive on a damaged tire approximately 10 miles to a repair shop. Had I been out of town or on a highway the saftey issues would have been greatly magnified. The repair shop had difficulty removing the lug nuts. They had to use special half sized sockets and pound the sockets onto the lug nuts before they could be removed. The independent service center states that this issue is not unusual for Ford products with two piece lug nuts. This incident did not cause an accident, injury or vehicle damage. Nothing was reported to any authorities, excluding this incident report. Bottm line; in cases of road side tire failure, the damaged tire needs to able to be removed and the spare installed to facillitae safe transport to a repair facility.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 25 mph, the brake warning light illuminated, and the low brake fluid message was displayed on the instrument panel. Due to the failure, the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard while his wife was attempting to stop the vehicle. The driver called her husband to the scene who was able to carefully drive the vehicle back to their residence. Upon inspection, the contact discovered a leak from the brake master cylinder which had flowed into the brake booster which he believed caused the failure. The dealer was contacted about the failure and the contact was informed that the part to repair the vehicle was not available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
Wife driving 2016 Ford Exped with 61000 miles. Was driving on a remote road when the vehicle suddenly lost power and power train fault indicator came on. No cell service and no other traffic so no way to get help. Finally managed to restart which cleared the problem for now. Took the car to a Ford dealer immediately but code reader could find no fault. Dealer, however, said it is a throttle body malfunction and is not uncommon and will happen again. Now concerned about problem occurring on a freeway or other congested roadway. The sudden loss of power and resulting necessity to get off a busy roadway/highway creates a real safety issue.
On June 30, 2021, while driving in a parking lot, "low brake fluid" warning lite came on then brake pedal went to floor. Brake fluid was added at scene but problem repeated it self. Car was towed to shop and diagnosed as master cylinder failure with brake fluid in booster. The parts were replaced and problem was solved. There is approx. 51000 miles on vehicle. Fortunately, this occurred at low speed in a church parking lot. I can't imagine what would have happened on the hiway at speed! Defective parts are available for inspection.
Low brake fluid light came on. I pulled off road to think, but since it said "low" brake fluid and not "empty" brake fluid, and since I was already on my way to the dealer for an oil change, I decided to proceed. When ready to go again, brake pedal went all of the way to the floor. Mechanic says the brake fluid is leaking into the power booster. His research found same problem with 2016 F150's that used the same part but was recalled, but Expedition's were not recalled. Required tow truck to take to Ford dealer 1-1/2 hrs from my home. Should have already been a recall or a warning that something could happen since Ford has already experienced this with the F150's.
Brake fluid level light came on. Stopped at Autozone, added fluid, drove 2 miles to Walmart brakes get soft, barely got home and reservoir was empty again. No visible leaks on the ground. Vehicle only has 60K miles on it and this could have been catastrophic and deadly if we needed to stop quickly. Research shows that the NHTSA issued a recall for this problem on the 2016 F150. The Expedition is essentially the same vehicle chassis, with a different body. The chassis components are the same. Reason and logic therefore would conclude that the recall be extended the the Expedition , as well as any other shared chassis vehicles.
6 months ago, electronic power steering failed (Control module?). Today. Electric throttle body - Code P2111. Driving down the road and lost acceleration (the “limp” condition). Engine is running but no reaction to the gas pedal. Wrench symbol on the dash. I coasted to a spot where I could get out of traffic. Restarted the vehicle and the error went away. When I made it home, I removed the throttle body. Butterfly was a little dirty but much cleaner than the ones shown on YouTube. Opened the gear box and it was clean too. However, several teeth on the plastic gears were worn and/or disfigured. It also seemed like the little electric motor would not let the butterfly shut all the way.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and depressing the brake pedal, the braking system malfunctioned and the brake pedal extended to the floor. Upon inspection, it was discovered that there was no brake fluid in the brake reservoir. After refilling the brake fluid reservoir, approximately 30 minutes later the brake fluid had leaked from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the brake master cylinder and brake booster were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.
I WAS ACCELERATING, TURNING LEFT TO ENTER A FREEWAY ON RAMP. MY SPEED WAS REDUCED TO 1MPH AND I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE OR CONTROL THE CAR. WHEN I PUSHED ON THE ACCELERATOR NOTHING HAPPENED IT DID NOT REV THE ENGINE. A POP UP APPEARED WITH A WRENCH AND THE WORDS "SEE OWNERS MANUAL" I WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURN IT BACK ON. THIS ALLOWED ME TO REGAIN FUNCTION. THIS HAPPENED WITH NO WARNING AT ALL. THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ENGINE CODES. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHERE CARS WERE BOTH ENTERING AND EXITING THE FREEWAY. FORTUNATELY I AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT HAD THIS HAPPENED AFTER I GOT ON THE FREEWAY I MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN SO LUCKY! UPON RETURNING HOME I CHECKED THE OWNERS MANUAL AND THERE IS NOTHING ABOUT A WRENCH LIGHT IN THERE.
THE VEHICLE DASHBOARD STARED SHOWING THE WARNING STERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED. THE STERING IS DISABLED AND IT BECOMES VERY HARD OR IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE. ISSUE STARTED HAPPENING AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING.

LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING, PARTIAL BRAKE FAILURE, SIMILAR TO BRAKE ISSUE WITH F150 FOR WHICH RECALL WAS ISSUED--SAME PARTS USED IN EXPEDITION. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN WARNING FIRST APPEARED. I REFILLED FLUED RESERVOIR. DROVE VEHICLE ABOUT 2 MILES THEN PARKED. RESTARTED AND RESERVOIR HAD EMPTIED, WARNING SIGN APPEARED, NO FLUID LEAKAGE VISIBLE UNDER HOOD OR ON GROUND.
I WAS DRIVING ON A SMALL HIGHWAY (2 TIMES) AND A NEIGHBORHOOD STREET (1 TIME) GOING 25 MPH (45 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY) OR MORE WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. MY CAR SEEMED TO SHIFT INTO A DIFFERENT DRIVE WITH THE WAY IT FELT AND SOME SHAKING. I WOULD PUSH THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN. I HAD TO COAST INTO A PARKING LOT TWICE OFF OF A BUSY ROAD WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND THEN BACK ON IT WAS AS IF NOTHING EVER HAPPENED AND RAN FINE SO THAT I COULD DRIVE HOME. I HAD A MECHANIC DO A DIAGNOSTIC AND NO CODES FOR THIS INCIDENT WHERE STORED OR PRESENT. THE THIRD TIME IT HAPPENED I DID NOT SHUT THE CAR OFF UNTIL SOMEONE COULD COME AND RUN A DIAGNOSTIC WHICH READ THE CODE P2112, THROTTLE ACTUATOR, CONTROL SYSTEM STUCK? REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS LAST TIME IT HAPPENED, I HAD TO CROSS TWO LANES OF BUSY MORNING WORK TRAFFIC IN ORDER TO GET TO A PARKING LOT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE ABRUPTLY JERKED WITHOUT WARNING, WITH SEVERAL INSTRUMENT PANEL FUNCTIONS BECOMING INOPERABLE. ONCE THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT ABOVE THIRD GEAR. THE CONTACT HAD TO RESTART THE VEHICLE TO RESUME NORMAL DRIVING. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO COURTESY FORD (6393 HIGHWAY 98 WEST, HATTIESBURG, MS 39402) WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A DEFECTIVE LEAD FRAME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
STARTED THE CAR TO GET HEATER GOING AND WARMED UP AND STARTED BUCKLING MY KIDS UP IN THEIR CAR SEATS. THAT'S WHEN I STARTED TO SMELL AN ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL COMING THROUGH THE VENTS. I TURNED THE HEATER OFF AND THE SMELL GOT STRONGER. I TURNED THE HEATER BACK ON AND SMELLED IT EVEN WORSE. I IMMEDIATELY SWITCHED IT TO AC INSTEAD OF HEAT AND THEN I STARTED TO NOTICE SMOKE COMING THROUGH THE AIR VENTS. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE CAR OFF. THE SMOKE CONTINUED TO BELLO OUT OF THE AIR VENTS. AS SOON AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TURNED OFF I NOTICED A GLOW UNDER THE PASSENGER DASH DOWN BY THE CORNER OF THE FLOORBOARD. WHEN I WENT AROUND TO LOOK TO SEE WHAT WAS GLOWING I NOTICED THERE WAS A FIRE DOWN IN THAT CORNER AND IT WAS ALREADY BIG ENOUGH THAT I COULDN'T BLOW IT OUT NO MATTER HOW HARD I BLEW. I AM THANKFUL THAT I KEEP A FIRE EXTINGUISHER IN MY GARAGE AND WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY PUT IT OUT. I NORMALLY STRAP MY KIDS IN AND TURN ON A MOVIE FOR THEM WHILE I GO BACK IN THE HOUSE AND SPEND AROUND 3 TO 5 MINUTES GETTING THE KIDS WATERS, MAKING SURE THE DIAPER BAG IS STOCKED, AND BASIC STUFF LIKE THAT. HAD THAT FIRE STARTED AFTER I WALKED BACK IN THE HOUSE I AM SURE THAT I WOULD HAVE LOST MY KIDS IN A BLAZE, STRAPPED IN TO CAR SEATS, THAT DAY. IT WAS THANKSGIVING EVE. I FOUND OUT THAT THE BLOWER FAN FOR THE VENTS IS WHAT SPARKED UP AND CAUGHT FIRE. THERE ARE NO RECALLS BY FORD FOR THIS AND I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. THIS IS AN ENORMOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND I AM SHOCKED THAT IT HAS GONE IGNORED BY FORD. DOES AN ACTUAL DEATH NEED TO TAKE PLACE BEFORE THEY SET IT RIGHT? BECAUSE I DID JUST BUY IT; THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FAN. BUT THE FLOORBOARD IN THAT CORNER IS ALL BURNT UP AND AM NOW QUESTIONING WHAT MORE SERIOUS DAMAGE IS IN THAT DASH THAT I CAN'T SEE. LIKE THE AIRBAG OR OTHER ELECTRONIC WIRING THAT MAY NOW BE AT RISK.*DT*JB

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER HUSBAND WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE BRAKES BECAME SPONGY WITH AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER DRIVING AN ADDITIONAL FOUR MILES, AND ATTEMPTING TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND WENT TO THE FLOOR. AFTER PUMPING THE BRAKE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES, THE VEHICLE STOPPED WITH AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE ARRIVED AND THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO BRAKE FLUID INSIDE THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GALPIN FORD (15505 ROSCOE BLVD, VAN NUYS, CA 91343, (818) 787-3800) AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND FILED A CASE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,222.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT APPROX 35 MPH ON A CITY STREET. THE BRAKES WERE LIGHTLY APPLIED UPON APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE PEDAL, WITHOUT ANY WARNING, WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO RESISTANCE AND THEN THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. PUMPING THE BRAKES ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO SLOWLY DECELERATE BUT, PEDAL TRAVEL CONSISTENTLY WENT FULL THROW. A VISUAL INSPECTION SHOWED AN EMPTY FLUID RESERVOIR AND NO INDICATION OF AN EXTERNAL LEAK. THE BREAK DOWN SHOWS THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED AND WAS DIVERTING THE BRAKE FLUID INTO THE BOOST ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE HAS 56,511 MILES ON IT.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER AND A "WRENCH" INDICATOR APPEARED. WAS ABLE TO NAVIGATE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WRENCH LIGHT INDICATES A POWER TRAIN ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF WHILE CONTACTING HELP. TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON AND WRENCH INDICATOR GONE. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. UPON SEARCHING THE PROBLEM APPARENTLY THIS HAS OCCURRED TO NUMEROUS FORD EXPEDITION OWNERS. VERY DANGEROUS AS THERE IS NO WARNING AND CAN HAPPEN AT ANYTIME.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, MY BRAKE PEDAL LOST RESISTANCE AND WENT TO THE FLOOR. I DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE BACK BRAKES WERE FUNCTIONING. I DISCOVERED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR THE 2016 FORD F150 (THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED BECAUSE OF THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER) AND WAS BECOMING A COMMON OCCURRENCE THE 2016 FORD EXPEDITION. IT SEEMS THAT BOTH MODEL SHARE THE SAME PART. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND REPLACED THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER AND BOOSTER ASSEMBLIES. THE REPAIR WAS DELAYED ABOUT A WEEK BECAUSE THE "RECALLED" MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER MODEL WAS ORDERED IN ERROR AND THE NEW MODEL WOULD TAKE A FEW DAYS TO GET IN. I FOUND THAT TO BE A STRANGE COMMENT WHEN THERE IS NOT INFORMATION RELATED TO A RECALL FOR THE 2016 FORD EXPEDITION.
Rear view camera went out. Mechanic traced it to a broken camera. 90,000 miles on vehicle when it went out.
WE DETECTED A BURNT RUBBER SMELL WHILE DRIVING ON A SURFACE STREET (WITH A/C ON). THE A/C SUDDENLY QUIT. WE PULLED OVER TO TURN SUV OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN HOPING A/C WOULD RETURN. A/C DID NOT RETURN, SMOKE BEGAN BILLOWING OUT OF A/C VENTS. STOPPED AT A GAS STATION AND TURNED OFF SUV. THE SMOKE FROM THE VENTS GOT THICKER AND LARGE FLAMES BEGAN COMING OUT UNDERNEATH THE DASH. HUSBAND RAN IN TO GAS STATION AND GOT A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. FIRE KEPT RESTARTING (THE PARKING LIGHTS WERE ON THOUGH THE CAR WAS OFF). HUSBAND FINALLY HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO KEEP FIRE FROM RESTARTING. THE A/C/HEATER BLOWER THEN FELL OUT ONTO THE FRONT PASSENGER FLOOR-MAT BURNED TO A CRISP.
I WAS DRIVING AND MY LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME ON AND MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND MY MASTER CYLINDER IS CRACKED
2016 FORD EXPEDITION EL LIMITED - MANUFACTURED IN DEARBORN MICHIGAN "YELLOW WRENCH" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THE FREEWAY AND CUT 100% OF POWER TO THE MOTOR, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I HAD TO TRAVERSE TRAFFIC TO GET TO A SAFE AREA. CALLED A DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WAS LIKELY THE THROTTLE BODY. FORD IMPLEMENTED A VOLUNTARY RECALL FOR ALL OTHER 2015 & 2016 MODELS EXCEPT THE EXPEDITION WHICH IS BUILT ON THE EXACT SAME ASSEMBLY LINE AS THE F150 AND WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART. FORD RECALL NUMBER WAS 16B32. I AM PAYING $500 OUT OF POCKET SINCE THIS ITEM IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THIS ISSUE IS DANGEROUS AND COULD SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILL SOMEONE. FORD HAS HAD A HISTORY OF BAD THROTTLE BODIES AND THE NHSTA NEEDS TO HAVE THIS ISSUE FORMALLY RECALLED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, THE LOW BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD FAILING TO EFFECTIVELY SLOW THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL TO SLOW THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO PARK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER HUSBAND ADDED TWO BOTTLES OF BRAKE FLUID TO THE RESERVOIR AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO LEAK WAS VISIBLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V332000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER LEAKING INTO BRAKE BOOSTER RENDERING THE VEHICLE BRAKES USELESS. NOTE THAT THIS IS HAPPENING ON THE 2016 F-150 TRUCKS AS WELL AND THE 2 VEHICLES SHARE THE SAME PARTS FOR THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING BACK TO THE OFFICE AND NOTICED THAT IT WAS TAKING A LONG STROKE OF THE PEDAL TO APPLY THE BRAKES. UPON ARRIVAL BACK AT THE OFFICE THE RESERVOIR WAS INSPECTED AND THERE WAS LITTLE TO NO FLUID LEFT, AND NO VISIBLE LEAKS.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE VERY BUSY INTERSTATE AT 75-80 MPH THE VEHICLE JERKED AND THEN LOST ALL THROTTLE POWER. THE WRENCH INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. WITH NO THROTTLE I HAD TO EASE MYSELF INTO THE NARROW SHOULDER WHILE SEMI AFTER SEMI FLEW BY. THIS WAS TERRIFYING! I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF & BACK ON AND IT WORKED FINE TO HEAD HOME. IT HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES ON THE WAY HOME BUT THANKFULLY ON SMALL COUNTRY ROADS.

WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH THE ENGINE STARTED SHUDDERING AND HAD LOSS OF POWER. PUSHING ACCELERATOR PRODUCED NOTHING. COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD AND POWERTRAIN FAILURE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. CALLED FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID TURN IT OFF AND IT WOULD CLEAR ITSELF AS THIS WAS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM. IT CLEARED ITSELF. THEY SAID THIS PROBLEM WOULD REPEAT ITSELF BUT NO TELLING WHEN. THIS PROBLEM CAUSED MY WIFE TO BE PLACED IN A VERY HAZARDOUS TRAFFIC SITUATION.THIS KNOWN THROTTLE BODY DEFECT SHOULD BE RECALLED. AFTER RESEARCHING I FOUND NUMEROUS IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS.
RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF LOW BRAKE FLUID. SHORTLY AFTER, THE VEHICLE WOULD HAD TROUBLE STOPPING AND WAS NEARLY IN AN ACCIDENT. DROVE TO LOCAL SHOP TO HAVE FLUID ADDED AND LOOK FOR LEAKS. NO LEAKS FOUND, FLUID TOPPED OFF, SEEMED TO BE FINE. WITHIN MINUTES, SAME 'LOW BRAKE FLUID' MESSAGE APPEARED. SOON AFTER, NO BRAKES AGAIN. AGAIN, NEARLY AN ACCIDENT. SEARCHED ONLINE, SAW THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENING TO OTHERS AND THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 2014-2016 F-150 THAT SHARES THE SAME PLATFORM AND IS BUILT IN THE SAME FACTORY (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V-332. FORD'S REFERENCE NUMBER FOR THIS RECALL IS 20S31). FORD WILL NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR SINCE IT IS AT AN OUTSIDE SHOP. *TR
TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFT FROM 6TH GEAR DOWN TO 2ND GEAR WHILE TRAVELING AT 50MPH WHICH CAUSED THE WHEELS TO LOCK AND SKID. SOMETIMES YOU WILL JUST FEEL A SUDDEN JOLT DURING THE DOWNSHIFT. HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE OFTEN. MY TRUCK HAS ONLY 75K MILES ON IT. *TR
While driving, brake pedal suddenly went straight to the floor with no resistance and no braking. Took to Ford and found that brake master cylinder had failed catastrophically, just like F-series trucks which have been recalled. Vacuum booster was full of brake fluid and master cylinder empty. Incurred $1062.62 in repair costs and could have had deadly consequences if it hadn’t occurred in a parking lot at low speed. There were no warning indicators activated. Repair done by AutoNation Ford inTorrance, CA, and I have the parts in my possession. Insurance and law enforcement were not involved.
P2112 ERROR KEEPS COMING UP CAUSING SUDDEN LOSE OF POWER IN THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, CAUSING A PANIC MOMENT TO GET TO THE SHOULDER, AND ON CITY AND RURAL ROADS. WE HAVE TO PULL OVER SHUT THE VEHICLE DOWN AND THEN RESTART IT SO THAT WE CAN CONTINUE DRIVING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE I HAD TO COME TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT I PRESSED BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR. I HAD NO SERVICE BRAKE AVAILABLE AND WENT THROUGH RED LIGHT AND NARROWLY AVOIDED HITTING A CAR THAT HAD RIGHT OF WAY. I ROLLED TO A STOP. THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS SO UPSET THAT HE DROVE AROUND AND THREATENED ME WITH PHYSICAL VIOLENCE WHEN HE PROCEEDED TO BEAT ME WITH A STICK OF SOME SORT. I WAS ABLE TO DIFFUSE THE SITUATION WHEN I EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT I HAD A COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. I HAD A FRIEND TOW THE VEHICLE ON A TRAILER TO MY HOUSE WHERE I REFILLED THE RESERVOIR. I INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND THEIR WAS NO EVIDENCE OF LEAKING FLUID ANYWHERE ON VEHICLE OR GROUND. I CHECKED VEHICLE AGAIN AFTER A ABOUT 8 HOURS AND RESERVOIR HAD EMPTIED DOWN TO BELOW THE LOW LEVEL. I ADDED THE REMAINING AMOUNT OF FLUID WHICH PUT THE RESERVOIR AT LINE JUST BELOW THE FULL LINE. AT THIS POINT I STOPPED LOOKING FOR LEAKS. I WAS PREPARING TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE IT TO MECHANIC WHEN I HEARD ABOUT A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE FORD F-150 BRAKE SAFETY RECALL NHTSA NUMBER 20V-332 AND FORD RECALL NUMBER 20S31. I IMPLORE YOU TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THE 2016 FORD EXPEDITION. IT IS A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH. *TR

GOING HOME WHEN VEHICLE WAS MOVING, I NOTICED BRAKES WERE PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. EACH BRAKING EVENT REQUIRED 25% MORE TRAVEL THEN PREVIOUS BRAKE APPLICATION. MADE IT HOME SAFELY WITHIN 3 MILES. NO BRAKE FLUID ONCE I PARKED VEHICLE. DROVE SLOW AND USED THE BRAKE VERY LITTLE DURING THE TRIP. THANKFULLY, I WAS NOT GOING FAST AND REALIZED SOMETHING WAS NOT RIGHT AND WAS ABLE TO MOSTLY COST HOME. LATER THAT DAY, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FORD DEALER. AFTER THEY INSPECTED, THEY REPORTED TO ME THE MASTER CYLINDER LEAKED THE BRAKE FLUID INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. REPAIR QUOTE WAS FOR $1500 FOR NEW MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER.*DT*JB
The dash air vent and rear vent motors are clicking when they are turned on. I have read numerous reports that this is an existing issue with 2016 Expeditions. Why are these vent motors not under recall?

REPEAT PROBLEM - REPAIR FACILITY REPLACED ALL SPARK PLUGS AND DIDN'T HAPPEN FOR A WEEK. THEY STATED MULTIPLE ISSUES CAME UP ON THEIR ANALYSIS WHICH WERE VARIABLE. INITIALLY THOUGHT TO BE THROTTLE ISSUE. I QUESTION A COMPUTER SOFTWARE OR HARDWARE ISSUE
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY PARKWAY GOING AROUND 35-40MPH. MY EXPEDITION SUDDENLY STARTED SHUDDERING AND DECELERATING. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I LOOKED UP IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL WHAT THAT MEANT. IT SAID TO CONTACT AN AUTHORIZED REPAIR CENTER. I WENT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY RAN THE DIAGNOSTIC AND SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. THEY ALSO STATED IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE ECO-BOOST ENGINES. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE THE LOSS OF POWER AND CONTROL HAPPENS ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AND SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED.

NO POLICE INCIDENT REPORT WAS FILED. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED OPERATING WHILE DRIVING 90 MPH. A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS IMMEDIATELY PUT INTO NEUTRAL AND ALLOWED TO COAST SO THAT IT COULD BE SAFELY MOVED TO THE EMERGENCY LANE OF THE INTERSTATE. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WHILE COASTING. ADDITIONAL ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER THE VEHICLE CAME TO A HALT. NO SUCCESS. THE VEHICLE WOULD TURN OVER BUT NEVER START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER. AFTER INSPECTION, FORD DETERMINED THAT THE FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED UNEXPECTEDLY.
VEHICLE SPONTANEOUSLY STARTED ON FIRE. IT HAD BEEN TURNED OFF AT A RESTAURANT IN PARKING AREA. IT HAD BEEN DRIVEN ABOUT 3 MILES IN TOWN JUST BEFORE THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE HAD LOW MILEAGE, APPROXIMATELY 50000 MILES. NO KNOW MECHANICAL OR OTHER ISSUES, SERVICED REGULARLY.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power and stalled while driving uphill. The contact stated while attempting to drive from a complete stop, the vehicle failed to respond. The check engine warning light illuminated. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle responded upon depressing the accelerator pedal; however, the vehicle stalled while driving. The contact was unable to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to a transmission specialist, where it was diagnosed that the transmission molded lead frame had failed. The mechanic contacted the dealer to order the part; however, the dealer informed the contact that the part #AL3Z-7G276 had been discontinued. The contact later purchased the part from an aftermarket dealer and the part was installed on the vehicle; however, the failure persisted. The contact contacted the dealer who advised him to purchase the valve body because the transmission molded lead frame had been discontinued. The transmission specialist then replaced the valve body and flushed the transmission fluid. The dealer reprogrammed the computer. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

BRAKING ABILITY WENT TO 0% WHILE DRIVING; ACCOMPANIED BY A "BRAKE FLUID IS LOW" DASHBOARD INDICATOR LIGHT (DASHBOARD LAMP BECAME LIT AFTER BRAKING APPLIED ). WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED THERE WAS 0% AVAILABLE TO SLOW/STOP THE VEHICLE (IN HEAVY TRAFFIC). DRIVER WAS ABLE TO AVOID A CROWDED INTERSECTION AND A RED LIGHT TO MY VEHICLE TRAFFIC DIRECTION (RED LIGHT TO ME) BY APPLYING THE PARKING BRAKE AND A SURVIVABLE DISTANCE BETWEEN ME AND THE TRAFFIC IN MY 4 (TRAVELING IN AN EASTERLY DIRECTION) LANES. UPON TURNING ONTO A RESIDENTIAL STREET NEAR MY HOME, I WAS ABLE TO CREEP (<5MPH) HOME. I ADDED DOT 4 BRAKE FLUID (FROM A NEWLY OPENED BOTTLE) AND FILLED THE MASTER CYLINDER TO JUST BELOW THE "MAX" LINE ON THE RESERVOIR. IN THE MORNING YOU COULDN'T GAUGE MY SHOCK, WHEN TO MY SURPRISE THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY AND DEVOID OF ANY BRAKE FLUID. NOT ONLY THAT! BUT THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF LEAKAGE ON THE GROUND. I HAVE A PAINTED DRIVEWAY AND THERE WAS NO FORENSIC EVIDENCE OF ANY KIND OF VEHICLE FLUID LEAKS. I WAS AGHAST! I HAVE SEVERAL OF MY NEIGHBORS COME OVER AS THEY SAW ME ATTENDING TO MY VEHICLE. WE ALL HAD FLASHLIGHTS AND WERE SCOURING THE VEHICLE LOOKING FOR ANY EVIDENCE OF BRAKE FLUID. THERE SIMPLY WAS NONE! I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO MY FORD DEALER AND AWAITED A DIAGNOSIS. TURNS OUT IT WAS A FAULTY MASTER CYLINDER IN COMBINATION WITH A BRAKE BOOSTER THAT DRINKS BRAKE FLUID WHEN IT CAN GET IT. TOGETHER THEY ARE A POTENTIALLY LETHAL COMBINATION NOT TO MENTION A COSTLY PAIR TO REPAIR. IF THERE EVER WAS A REASON FOR A RECALL IT WOULD BE TO REMEDY THIS LIABILITY WAITING TO HAPPEN ONTO FORD MOTOR COMPANY. I SIMPLY CANNOT FATHOM WHY NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN AND HENCE THE REASON I AM COMPLAINING. I SEEK TO GET SOME SATISFACTION FROM FOMOCO ON THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE OF THEIR TRUSTING, BUYING PUBLIC BECOMES A TRAGEDY OF THIS SIMPLE FIX. IT IS UNCONSCIONABLE! ACT NOW!
2016 MODEL, PURCHASED IN 2018. WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON 7/26/19, DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, GOING 60 MPH THE "WRENCH" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY DECELERATED TO 40 MPH, STARTING SPUTTERING AND SHAKING. I WAS ABLE TO LIMP THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE. I WAITED A FEW MINUETS AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. INITIALLY IT SEEM TO RUN AS NORMAL WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS. I CONTINUED ON THE HIGHWAY FOR MAYBE 3/4 A MILE AND THE WRENCH LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BOTH CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN. I WAS FORCED TO PULL OVER TO A NARROW SIDE OF THE BUSY HIGHWAY. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, PRAYING NO ONE WOULD HIT ME. I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND HEADED FOR THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER. THE ONLY LIGHT THAT REMAINED ON WAS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. ONCE AT THE DEALER THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS THE THROTTLE BODY WAS " OUT OF RANGE". THE SOLUTION WOULD BE TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH WOULD COST ME $900. DESPITE THE CHARGES NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR, MY CONCERN IS SAFETY OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN WHICH THE VEHICLE WILL RAPIDLY DECELERATE ON A HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE. OTHER DRIVERS MAY NOT RECOGNIZE THAT YOUR VEHICLE IS SLOWING DOWN AS YOU ARE NOT PRESSING THE BRAKE AND YOU ARE UNABLE TO ACCELERATE TO A SAFE AREA! I HAVE CALLED FORD AND ONLY BEEN TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY FOR ANY REPAIRS TO BE MADE BY FORD, AND THERE ARE NOT ANY RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. I HAVE SEEN OTHER LAWSUITS AND RECALLS FOR VEHICLES USING THIS THROTTLE BODY, THIS ISSUES NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND RECALLS SHOULD BE MADE BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED.
WHILE DRIVING THE LOW BREAK FLUID WARNING CAME ON AND THE BREAK PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THERE IS NO SIGN OF A LEAK EVEN THOUGH THE BREAK RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY. AFTER FILLING IT BACK UP AND CHECKING FOR LEAKS, IT EMPTIED AGAIN. AFTER MORE RESEARCH, THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITHOUT A RECALL. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED FROM THIS.
MY VEHICLES BRAKES WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. FORTUNATELY I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY, WHICH IS ON A HILL, AND ABLE TO COME TO A STOP AND APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. AFTER COMING TO A STOP I CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID AND IT WAS EMPTY. THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF ANY LEAKS. I REFILLED THE BRAKE FLUID AND THE NEXT MORNING WAS EMPTY AGAIN. I CHECKED AGAIN TO FIND NO SIGN OF BRAKE FLUID LEAKS. I HAD TO HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED TO GOSCH FORD TEMECULA FOR THEM TO LOOK INTO THE ISSUE.
