2016, PURCHASED 2018. WHILE DRIVING TO FLORIDA FROM INDIANA FOR VACATION 7/6/19, ON HIGHWAY DRIVING 80MPH, VEHICLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER AND WE WERE ABLE TO LIMP TO LEFT SIDE OF HIGHWAY SPITTING AND SPUTTERING, UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AND CONTINUE. TURNED ENGINE OFF AND WAITED 5-10 MINUTES TO RESTART. VEHICLE RETURNED TO SOUNDING NORMAL. WE WERE ABLE TO CONTINUE ON TO FLORIDA FOR 7DAY TRIP. THEN DRIVING HOME TO INDIANA, WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING AND ACCELERATING TO PASS A CAR, DASH WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND WE WERE BARELY ABLE TO GET TO THE LEFT UNSAFE SMALL SIDE OF HIGHWAY, UP AGAINST A CONCRETE WALL...DURING HEAVY 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC. VEHICLE AGAIN SPIT AND SPUTTERED AND BARELY ABLE TO MOVE. WE WERE UNABLE TO GET VEHICLE SAFELY OFF OF HIGHWAY. A TOW TRUCK HAD TO BE CALLED TO TOW US TO THE NEXT EXIT TO A GAS STATION. VEHICLE TURNED BACK ON AND WRENCH LIGHT OFF BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NOW FLASHING, WE CHOSE TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE REMAINING 5HRS HOME GOING 50-55MPH. RESEARCHED ISSUE ONLINE AND FOUND THIS TO BE A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE, COMMON WITH FORD VEHICLES. TOOK VEHICLE TO AUTOZONE FOR DIAGNOSTIC SCAN AND YES, THE ERROR CODE P2111 "THROTTLE BODY ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM,STUCK OPEN" IS WHAT WAS READ. THIS APPEARS TO BE A SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS SAFETY CONCERN AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH FORD. I HAVE ALREADY CALLED FORD AND A RECALL WAS NOT IDENTIFIED WITH MY VEHICLE, BUT THIS HAS BEEN A RECALL WITH OTHER FORDS IN THE PAST. THERE ARE CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS ALSO. I WILL LOG A COMPLAINT WITH THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OFFICE AS WELL. I HAVE ALREADY PAID TO HAVE TO MANY OTHER REPAIRS DONE ON THIS VEHICLE BUT THIS ONE IS CERTAINLY A SAFETY CONCERN. LOOKS LIKE MORE MONEY WILL NEED TO BE POURED INTO THIS LEMON BY HAVING THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. THANK YOU
I'M DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEED WHEN SUDDENLY MY MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHTS UP AND NO ENGINE POWER. THE POWER STEERING, BRAKING, LIGHTING AND CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEMS REMAIN FULLY FUNCTIONAL, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE NO LONGER REMAINS OPERATIONAL. FORD HAS A RECALL 16B32 AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM IN OTHER FORD VEHICLES, BUT NOT MINE, BUT THE SAME EXACT THING IS HAPPENING. . $890 LATTER I AM HAVING MY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY REPLACED WITH ONLY 52,000 MILES AND FORD HAS NOTHING TO SAY ABOUT THE PROBLEM SINCE THE EXPEDITION IS NOT PART OF THE CSP. APPARENTLY, IN A VARIETY OF FORD VEHICLES, THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY INTERNAL MOTOR CONTACTS MAY DEVELOP CONTAMINATION RESULTING IN INCREASED ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE. IF THIS HAPPENS, WHICH IN MY CASE IT DID, THE MIL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE I EXPERIENCED A DECREASED AMOUNT OF ENGINE POWER AND SPEED AND I COULDN'T ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT GETTING HIT. THE DEALER IS REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY, REPROGRAMING MY VEHICLE, AND CLEANING THE INJECTIONS. THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS FOR THE 2016 FORD EXPEDITION, BUT FORD IS NOT DOING ANYTHING. I'M GLAD I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT GETTING HIT SINCE I HAD NO FUNCTION TO ACCELERATE.
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, ON A CITY STREET LOST POWER ,SHUT DOWN BUT DIDN'T CUT OFF NO THROTTLE WHAT SO EVER.. I BELIEVE IT IS THE THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SERVICE CODE P2112
POWER TRAIN FAILURE WHILE DRIVING, CAR STOPPED MOVING ON HIGHWAY. NEEDED TO TURN CAR OFF AND RESTART. HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER DRIVING LESS THAN A MILE. HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALER.
ISSUE WITH BRAKING SYSTEM. WARNING LIGHT TURNED ON INDICATING LOW BRAKE FLUID, AND WITHIN MILE, THE BRAKE PEDAL HIT THE FLOOR. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET, AND THE BRAKE FAILURE WAS IMMEDIATE. WAS VERY FORTUNATE I WAS ON AN UNCROWDED CITY STREET AND WAS ABLE TO ROLL INTO A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT WITHOUT INCIDENT. NO LEAKING IDENTIFIED ANYWHERE NEAR THE MASTER CYLINDER OR BRAKES.
I WAS TRAVELING AWAY FROM HOME AND WAS TOWING MY BOAT (ABOUT 4K WEIGHT). NO PERFORMANCE ISSUES OR WARNING LIGHTS ON THE TRIP THUS FAR. WHEN LEAVING THE HOTEL WE STAYED IN, I PRESSED THE BRAKE TO PUT THE TRUCK IN GEAR. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. ALL THE WAY DOWN. THE LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME ON AND THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED TOO. THE FLUID RESERVOIR, TOPPED OFF A WEEK BEFORE, WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY, YET NO FLUID WAS ON THE GROUND. GOT THE TRUCK TOWED TO A FORD DEALER. NEEDED A NEW MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER, SAYING THAT THE SEAL BETWEEN THOSE 2 PARTS FAILED AND THE FLUID QUICKLY TRANSFERRED FROM THE PREVIOUSLY SEALED MASTER CYLINDER INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. DOING A BIT OF RESEARCH, I SEE A NHTSA RECALL ON F-150S THAT HAVE THE SAME MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER. I ALSO SEE AN INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY FOR '15 AND '16 F150S FOR BRAKE FAILURE. AND I SEE STORY UPON STORY OF EXPEDITION OWNERS ON THE EXPEDITION FORUM DESCRIBING THE SAME CRITICAL, POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. I'M GRATEFUL THE TRUCK WAS STOPPED WHEN IT FAILED. I TRULY FEEL I WOULD NOT BE HERE DESCRIBING THE SITUATION TO YOU IF IT HAD FAILED ON THE HIGHWAY, ON A BOAT RAMP, OR EVEN IN A CITY. IT'S REMARKABLE TO ME THAT POSSIBLY A $2.00 SEAL (PART) COULD HAVE COST ME MY LIFE, OR THOSE ALSO IN THE TRUCK. IT'S UNACCEPTABLE TO ALLOW TRUCKS TO REMAIN ON THE ROAD WITH A CHEAP PART THAT CAN FAIL THAT EASILY, LIKELY CAUSING DEATH OR SIGNIFICANT INJURY TO SELF AND THOSE YOU RUN INTO. FORD CAN DO BETTER. NHTSA CAN DO BETTER. LET'S GET THIS RECALLED BEFORE OTHERS DIE UNNECESSARILY.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE FREEWAY NEARING SPEEDS OF 65MPH WHEN THE BREAK LIGHT CAME ON AND INDICATED LOW BREAK FLUID (PRIOR TO THE ALERT MY BREAKING SYSTEM WAS FUNCTIONING NORMAL) MY BREAKS COMPLETELY GAVE OUT, AND I DEPRESSED THE BREAK PETAL AS FAR AS IT COULD GO ONLY SLIGHTLY SLOWING MY VEHICLE AND RELIED ON MY PARKING BREAK TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER TOWING IT TO AN OFFICIAL FORD REPAIR SHOP, THE DIAGNOSTIC SHOWED A FAILED MASTER CYLINDER, WHICH LEAKED BREAK FLUID INTO THE BREAK BOOSTER CAUSING THE WHOLE SYSTEM TO SUDDENLY FAIL PUTTING MY THREE YEAR OLD SONS LIFE IN DANGER AS WELL AS MINE
THE CHECK BRAKE LIGHT TURNED ON. THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY. REFILLED AND DRAINED IMMEDIATELY WITH NO VISIBLE LEAKS FROM SYSTEM. PEDAL COULD BE PRESSED TO FLOOR WITHOUT ACTIVATING BRAKES. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT MASTER CYLINDER WAS DEFECTIVE AND LEAKING INTO BOOSTER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH AND MAKING A TURN, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE CONTACT PUMPED THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE STOPPED. ALSO, THE BRAKE FLUID WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED A FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE CYLINDER WAS FRACTURED AND WAS LEAKING BRAKE FLUID. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,450. *BF *TR
MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER TOTAL FAILURE. THANKFULLY THIS HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY BEFORE HEADING OUT TO DINNER. BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR. MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR TOTALLY EMPTY. NO SIGNS OF ANY LEAKS OR FLUID ON THE GROUND. HAD IT TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR THINKING IT WOULD BE COVERED BY THE FORD CPO POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN 15 YEARS HE HAS SEEN A MASTER CYLINDER FAIL ON AN EXPEDITION. I AGREE WITH OTHER OWNERS THIS SOUNDS VERY SIMILAR TO THE ISSUE FORD HAD WITH THE 2013-2014 YM F-150 PICK UP TRUCKS WITH THE 3.5L ECOBOOST ENGINE.
I WAS DRVING 70 MPH ON HIGHWAY WHEN MY CAR STARTED TO LOOSE POWER AND A WRENCH SYMBOL APPEARED. I HAD NO POWER AND HAD TO ROLLED TO SIDE OF HIGHWAY. MESSAGE SAID TRANSMISSION TEMP 199 DEGREES. I HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER AND THEY ARE TELLING ME IT NEEDS A NEW THROTTLE BODY. I AM RETIRED AND ONLY DRIVE 2 TIMES A WEEK TO SEE GRAND CHILDREN, GO TO STORE OR DOCTORS AND I ONLY HAVE ABOUT 43,000 MILES. CAR HAS HAD ALL SCHRDULED MAINTANANCE. I SEE FORD HAD A RECALL FOR OTHER 2015 AND 2016 MODELS FOR THROTTLE BODY THAT EXPIRED IN 2017 BUT NOTHING FOR 2016 EXPEDITION. THIS IS GOING TO COST ME $450.00.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. ONE OF THE PASSENGERS SUSTAINED MINOR BRUISING THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED, BUT WAS NOT TOTALED OR TOWED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT INDICATOR AND CHIME DID NOT FUNCTION WHEN THE SEAT BELT WAS NOT UTILIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MTN. VIEW FORD LINCOLN (423-458-6182, LOCATED AT 301 E 20TH ST, CHATTANOOGA, TN 37408) WHERE THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MODEL WAS NOT EQUIPPED WITH A SEAT BELT INDICATOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE TRANSFER CASE AND REAR AXLE WERE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 86,000.
2/1/2019 I WAS DRIVING UP INTERSTATE I16 AT ABOUT 1PM. WHEN MY TRUCK STARTED STALLING. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. I THEN NOTICED SMOKE COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE ENGINE BAY. A COUPLE OF OTHER DRIVERS STOPPED TO TRY TO RENDER ASSISTANCE WITH SMALL FIRE EXTINGUISHERS; TO NO AVAIL. THE VEHICLE SOON BECAME FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED, IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS. THE ONLY THING THAT WAS OUT OF THE ORDINARY WAS I RAN OVER A PLASTIC BAG BLOWING ACROSS THE INTERSTATE, LIKE A WALMART BAG. I HAD ASSUMED THAT THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER HAD ALREADY FILED THIS REPORT BUT THEY HAVE NOT.
AROUND JULY 2018 MY EXPEDITION STARTED JUST RANDOMLY CUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING WITH MY 2 CHILDREN IN THE CAR. AFTER GETTING THE CODES READ IT CAME UP AS THE THROTTLE BODY. WE HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED AND IT SEEMED TO HELP UNTIL ABOUT NOV 2018 THEN INSTEAD OF CUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WOULD JERK HARD AND THEN YOU COULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER ABOUT 50MPH. MULTIPLE THINGS STARTED FLASHING ON THE DASH LIKE THE WRENCH, TRACTION CONTROL, HILL DESCENT, AND CHECK ENGINE. WE GOT ALL CODES READ AND THIS TIME IT WAS THE MAP SENSOR. WE HAVE REPLACED THE MAP SENSOR 2 TIMES WITH THE MOST RECENT IN JAN 2019. NOW THE EXPEDITION HAS STARTED TO AGAIN FLASH TRACTION CONTROL, HILL DESCENT, WRENCH, CHECK ENGINE AND THE CODES ARE READING MAP SENSOR AGAIN!! WE HAVE SPENT $200 ON EACH SENSOR WE HAVE REPLACED WHICH HAVE BEEN 3! WE HAVE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT AT THE END OF JAN TO FIND OUT AGAIN IF IT IS THE MAP SENSOR FOR A 3RD TIME OR IF IT IS SOME COMPUTER MALFUNCTION. WE HAVE NO MORE WARRANTY. FORD NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM AS I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS AND IT IS DEFINITELY NOT SAFE WHEN I'M DRIVING WITH MY KIDS AND THE CAR JERKS AND THEN YOU CAN NO LONGER ACCELERATE.
THIS IS THE 3 RD TIME THE WRENCH TROUBLE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR LOSSES ALL POWER AND CAN ONLY IDLE ( ROUGHLY ). SHUT ENGINE OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES AND CAR STARTS UP AND GOES JUST FINE. BROUGHT IT BACK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID NO CODE IS STORED. NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM IS USUALLY A THROTTLE BODY BUT SINCE NO CODE THEY CAN'T REPLACE IT EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A FORD EXTENDED WARRANTY. SO I JUST WENT AND BOUGHT A THROTTLE BODY FOR $ 225.00 AND INSTALLED IT MYSELF . LET'S SEE WHAT HAPPENS . DATE INSTALLED 1/22/2019
THE " WRENCH " WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND THE CAR LOST POWER. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED . LUCKILY I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE.
THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTIONED AND WAS REPLACED AT 80000 MILES. REPLACEMENT THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTIONED AFTER AN ADDITIONAL 24000. IT WAS ALSO REPLACED. BOTH REPLACEMENTS WERE PERFORMED BY AUTHORIZED FORD DEALERS.
THIS ISSUE BEGAN ABOUT A MONTH AGO ON MY COMMUTE HOME FROM WORK, ALL ENGINE POWER WAS LOST AS I CAME OFF THE FREEWAY, THE COMPUTER ALERTED WITH A WRENCH ICON. I PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF, THEN AFTER A MINUTE RESTARTED. IT STARTED OK, I THEN USED AN ODB ADAPTER TO READ THE CODES, AND FOUND A SOFT (NOT PERMANENT) CODE P2112 (THROTTLE BODY STUCK CLOSED). I IMMEDIATELY CALL THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. WHEN THEY GOT THE CAR, THE CODE WAS NO LONGER IN THE COMPUTER. THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC, DECLARED THAT THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING, CHARGED ME $200, AND SENT ME HOME. SECOND OCCURRENCE WAS ABOUT 10 DAYS AGO, AGAIN DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, THEN WHILE COMING UP TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE SAME FAILURE HAPPENED AGAIN. AFTER RESTARTING, AND DRIVING HOME, I BEGAN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM. TODAY, WHILE RETURNING HOME IN THE RAIN DURING A 5 MILE DRIVE IT FAILED 5 TIMES, EACH TIME I HAD TO PULL OVER, SHUT IT DOWN THEN RESTART. NOW I HAVE A PERMANENT CODE STORED IN THE COMPUTER (P2112) AND AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX IT. I AM FAIRLY CERTAIN THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WILL BE REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP, BUT I AM OUT OF WARRANTY NOW, AND THEY WILL INDEED CHARGE ME. I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, AND BELIEVE FORD SHOULD PROVIDE AN UPDATED PART THAT WILL RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. I SUSPECT THAT THIS WILL IN TIME CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, PERHAPS EVEN INJURY FOR SOMEONE. THIS IS DUE TO AUTO MANUFACTURERS REMOVING THE RATHER SIMPLE MECHANICAL LINKAGE FROM PEDAL TO THROTTLE AND TURNING THIS OVER TO A COMPUTER. TO BE SURE, IT IS THE COMPUTER THAT IS CREATING THE DANGEROUS CIRCUMSTANCES BY DISENGAGING ALL THROTTLE CONTROL WHEN THE THROTTLE BODY IS STICKING, FORCING THE DRIVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD (ASSUMING THERE IS A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER).
BRAKE FLUID WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WHILE TAKING DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL, STOPPED AT GAS STATION TO CHECK. WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY EMPTY. NO VISIBLE SIGN OF LEAKS IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT, UNDER VEHICLE OR ON WHEELS/TIRES. REFILLED. WARNING LIGHT CAME ON MILE LATER. STOPPED AT ANOTHER GAS STATION, ALMOST COMPLETELY EMPTY AGAIN. BOUGHT MORE FLUID, REFILLED AND ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE HOME. ABOUT A MILE LATER WARNING LIGHT APPEARED AGAIN. ONCE HOME, BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WAS EMPTY AGAIN. LOOKED ON-LINE AND NOTICED THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2015 F-150 TRUCKS FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE (MASTER CYLINDER FAILURE, LEAKING FLUID TO BRAKE BOOSTER). REFILLED THEN ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE TO DEALERSHIP. STOPPED ONCE TO REFILL AFTER WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. GOT TO DEALERSHIP AND AS PULLING INTO SERVICE BAY BRAKE PEDAL HAD NO PRESSURE, WENT TO FLOOR AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. LUCKILY, WAS JUST ROLLING SLOW AND WAS ABLE TO BUT VEHICLE IN PARK TO STOP. VERY DANGEROUS IF THIS HAD OCCURRED ON STREET! FORD DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED SUSPICION, MASTER CYLINDER LEAKING IN BRAKE BOOSTER. SAME ISSUE AS 2015 F150 RECALL, BUT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR 2016 FORD EXPEDITIONS EVEN THOUGH THEY USE THE SAME DRIVETRAIN? VEHICLE OUT OF WARRANTY SO HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET.
8/31/18: TRAVELING 55 MPH AND SUDDENLY LOST ALL PEDAL POWER ON I-40, ONLY ABLE TO COAST TO SHOULDER. VEHICLE TOWED TO FLAGSTAFF, AZ NEAREST CITY, HOWEVER IT WAS FRIDAY AFTER HOURS AND THE DEALERSHIP WAS CLOSED UNTIL TUESDAY MORNING DUE TO THE LABOR DAY HOLIDAY. WE WERE STRANDED IN FLAGSTAFF UNTIL 9/4/18, UNABLE TO GET AUTHORIZATION FOR A RENTAL CAR UNTIL IT WAS DETERMINED IF IT WAS COVERED BY A WARRANTY. ULTIMATELY, THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. AUG. 27, 2018, DRIVING HOME FROM MY SON'S FOOTBALL GAME I LOST ALL POWER ON A DARK WINDING COUNTRY ROAD AND HAD LIMITED ACCESS TO PULL OVER SAFELY WITH MY YOUNG CHILD IN THE BACKSEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS SHAKING AND WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TOWED. THE FOLLOWING DAY MY HUSBAND HOOKED HIS CODE READER AND THE CODE PRESENTED P2112 POWERTRAIN FAULT. IT STARTED FINE AND WE THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A GLITCH. ON WEDNESDAY AUGUST 28, 2018, WE HEADING TO THE AIRPORT AND IT DID THE EXACT SAME THING ABOUT 20 MINUTES IN. THIS TIME WE WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH AND HAD AN ABRUPT DECELERATION WITH SEMIS TRAVELING BEHIND US. WE QUICKLY PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ONE. WE WERE ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE AND CONTINUE DOWN FOR ABOUT 3 MILES BEFORE IT DID IT AGAIN. AGAIN, WE TURNED VEHICLE OFF AND STARTED BACK UP. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND FORD NEEDS TO RECALL SINCE THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT OR LOSS OF LIFE.

WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE GOES INTO "LIMP MODE". THIS HAS HAPPENED 8 TIMES IN THE PAST WEEK AT SPEEDS OF 50MPH OR EVEN 15MPH DRIVING NORMAL ON A HIGHWAY, COUNTRY ROAD, AND ENTRANCE TO A PARKING LOT. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS ABSOLUTELY ZERO POWER AND DRIVER MUST PLACE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND COAST TO A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER. ONCE PULLED OVER, THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE TURNED COMPLETELY OFF AND RESTARTED. AFTERWARDS, THE VEHICLE RUNS VERY ROUGH AND CEL IS ON. THE CODE FOR THE ENGINE LIGHT DISPLAYS THE CODE : 2112 WHICH IS THE THROTTLE ACTUATOR IS STUCK CLOSED. AFTER DOING RESEARCH, THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE FOR YEARS AND NOT BEING TAKEN OF. THIS COULD EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IF SOMEONE IS GOING 70MPH IN TRAFFIC, ON A BRIDGE, OR EVEN 45MPH IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE ON THE INTERSTATE.
CATASTROPHIC BRAKE FAILURE DURING NORMAL OPERATION ON A CITY STREET I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY STOP DUE TO A LOW FLUID LIGHT BUT BY THE TIME I WAS AT A SAFE PLACE TO STOP THE BRAKES HAD ALMOST COMPLETELY FAILED. I HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER. WAS TOLD THE MASTER CYLINDER, BRAKE BOOSTER, VALVE ASSEMBLY, AND VACUUM BRAKE SENSOR ALL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE MC WAS LEAKING INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER CAUSING THEM TO FAIL. THIS IS THE EXACT ISSUE THAT THE 2013-2014 F150S (VERY SIMILAR PLATFORM) HAD A RECALL FOR. I HAD THE VEHICLE IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AT THE DEALER WHICH INCLUDED A FULL BRAKE INSPECTION WHICH WAS GIVEN A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH LESS THAN ONE MONTH PRIOR TO THIS FAILURE.
WHILE IN MOTION ON THE STREET AND CAR LOSE THROTTLE. PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL DID NOT THING AND ONLY MADE THE CARE STUTTER. IT WOULDN'T GOT PASS 30MILES PER HOUR BUT ALSO WOULDN'T STAY AT 30 EITHER IT WILL GO DOWN AND UP CHOKING ON ITS SELF. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES AND AT ANY SPEED. THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT IS TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND TURN IT ON AGAIN. THIS FIX IS TEMPORARILY AND YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND IT ALMOST CAUSE ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT.
VEHICLE STOPPED WHEN IN TRAFFIC, MULTIPLE TIMES. DEALER IS REPLACING THE ELECTRONIC CARBURETOR SENSOR WHICH ELECTRONICALLY CONNECTS THE GAS PEDAL TO THE ENGINE. SAID THEY HAVE HAD TO DO THIS ON SEVERAL VEHICLES LATELY. MY SON OWNS A 2015 F150 AND HIS TRUCK HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM LAST WEEK. MUST BE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM IF SEVERAL VEHICLES IN OUR SMALL TOWN HAVE HAD THE SAME FAILURE.

YOUR ONLY OPTION IS TO COAST TO A STOP AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. THIS COMES WITH NO WARNING AND IS VERY DANGEROUS AS WE ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED AS WE WERE GOING 40 MPH AND JUST LOST EVERYTHING IN A MOMENTS NOTICE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN 3 MONTHS. THE FIRST TIME WE WERE GOING 35 MPH ACCELERATING AND SHUT DOWN AND HAD TO STOP TRAFFIC TO RESTART. WE HAVE IT SCHEDULED TO GO INTO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW. BUT LOOKS LIKE THIS IS AN ISSUE ON SEVERAL FORD VEHICLES WITH A RECALL ON MANY, JUST NOT THIS ONE YET. THE DIAGNOSTIC WAS COMPLETED AT A FORD DEALERSHIP AND IT TURN OUT TO BE THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUES WITH FORD CARS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME. WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WHEN THE "LOW BRAKE FLUID" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON GOING 45 MPH. LESS THAT ONE MINUTE LATER WHEN SHE WENT TO STOP AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN. THANKFULLY SHE WAS GOING UP HILL AND ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP SAFELY. CHECKED THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR AND THERE WAS NO FLUID IN IT. CHECKED THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER FOR VISIBLE LEAKS AND DID NOT SEE ANY FLUID.

I TOUCHED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT DEPRESSED COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. I INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, NO VISIBLE LEAKS AT ANY OF THE WHEELS OR IN THE ENGINE BAY. BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY. REFILLED RESERVOIR ONLY TO WATCH IT DRAIN WITH NO VISIBLE LEAKS (INTO THE BOOSTER?)
BRAKE FAILURE. 2016 EXPEDITION ECOBOOST, CAR NOTIFICATION OF 'LOW BRAKE FLUID'. EVEN AFTER ADDING BRAKE FLUID PURCHASED FROM FORD DEALER; THE FLUID KEEPS DECREASING ALL WITHOUT ANY VISIBLE LEAKAGE AROUND CAR AND/OR TIRES/ETC. EVENTUALLY AND QUICKLY YOU WILL QUICKLY GET ZERO BRAKE RESPONSE; THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL GO TO BOTTOM OF FLOOR AND IN MY CASE; THERE WAS WHITE CLOUDS COMING OUT OF OUR EXHAUST. ZERO BRAKING ABILITY. WE HAD OUR VEHICLE PARKED ON A FLAT PARKING LOT AND AFTER CHECKING THE FLUID, AFTER FILLING IT UP; TURNED CAR ON; HAD EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE ENABLED AND THEN PUTTING IT IN DRIVE; JUST TO TEST BRAKES; THE CAR ROLLED BUT ZERO ABILITY TO BRAKE, THUS REAPPLIED PARKING BRAKE TO CONTROL VEHICLE TO A STOP. ALL WHILE ENGINE APPEARS TO SOUND OK; WITH AN OCCASIONAL 'STUTTER' WHILE WHITE SMOKE COMES FROM THE TAILPIPE.
DRIVING ON MAJOR FREEWAY IN HOUSTON RUSH HOUR. LOST POWER, WRENCH POPPED UP AND SAID SEE MANUAL. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. HAD TO WAIT IN TRAFFIC AND RESTART VEHICLE. COULD NOT GO OVER 40 MPH WITHOUT LOSING POWER AGAIN. APPARENTLY EVERY OTHER 2016 FORD HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR A THROTTLE BODY DEFECT EXCEPT THE EXPEDITION. OUR ISSUE WAS A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY.
SUDDEN AND COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. TRAVELING WITH THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN A WARNING MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED ON THE DASH "LOW BRAKE FLUID". I TOUCHED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT DEPRESSED COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE USING ENGINE BRAKING AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, NO VISIBLE LEAKS AT ANY OF THE WHEELS OR IN THE ENGINE BAY. BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY. HAD VEHICLE TAKEN TO CLOSEST FORD DEALER. WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A DAMAGED MASTER CYLINDER THAT LEAKED INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED.
WHEN TRYING ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE DOES NOTHING AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO PUSH ON THE GAS PEDAL. THIS HAS CAUSED NEAR MISSES IN TRAFFIC FROM GETTING REAR ENDED AS THE VEHICLE STALLS AND THEN RESUMES DRIVING. I HAVE TAKEN TO THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND NOTHING AS THE PROBLEM DID NOT DUPLICATE IN THEIR POSSESSION. THIS CONTINUES TO OCCUR WITHOUT ANY CODES POPULATING. I HAVE HELD UP TRAFFIC WHILE TRYING TO MOVE OVER BECAUSE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS.
AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS OF AN INTERMITTENT ACCELERATION PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING UP A HILL. THE ENGINE DID NOT SHUT OFF BUT NOTHING HAPPENED WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL. I WAS ON A SIDE STREET JUST ABOUT TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY SO I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER AT THAT TIME. AFTER RESTARTING THE TRUCK I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME BUT THEN HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. THE DEALER FOUND THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT OTHER FORD MODELS HAD THE SAME FAILURE WITH THE SAME PART ON THE SAME ENGINE BUT THE EXPEDITION WAS NOT SPECIFICALLY INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA RECALL.
THE ALUMINUM TAILGATE/HATCH SHOWS SIGNS OF CORROSION. FORD DID COVER IT EVENTUALLY AFTER ESCALATING IT. HOWEVER, OTHER OWNERS ARE REPORTING THIS ISSUE ON MODELS 2000-2017.

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A "NEW" USED CAR. A FEW WEEKS AFTER I BOUGHT IT, THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE AIRBAGS HAD BEEN TAMPERED WITH BY SOMEONE. THEY DID SOME RESEARCH, AND THEY AUCTION HOUSE THEY BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM NEVER DISCLOSED THAT IT HAD BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THEY TRIED TO COVER UP THAT THE AIRBAGS HAD BEEN DEPLOYED, THE CUT AND SPLICED THE WIRING TO BYPASS SAFETY RELAYS/SWITCHES SO A DIAGNOSTIC TESTER WOULD NOT CATCH IT. I DROVE AROUND FOR 6 MONTHS WITH MY TWO CHILDREN (BOTH UNDER THE AGE OF 3) WITH NO WORKING AIRBAGS! IF YOU CALL ME, I CAN HAVE THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRM EVERYTHING.
Bought the 2016 vehicle January 2017. Shortly after purchase I noticed slight bubbling in the paint on the edges of the hood and especially the bottom of the lift gate. It has progressed over the years and now the paint is coming off- a large piece off the front hood and all along the bottom of the lift gate. Ford has no recalls on it yet, but it's a well cared for vehicle, garaged at night and when not in use during the day. The paint should not be bubbling or coming off. Thank you- Suzanne
THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. HAS HAPPENED OVER 8 TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON BUSY HIGHWAYS. VEHICLE LOOSES THROTTLE CONTROL WHILE DRIVING. IT FORCES YOU TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTART IT TO RESET IT. VERY DANGEROUS.
THE SUNROOF EXPLODED WHILE PARKED. THE VISOR WAS CLOSED SO GLASS DID NOT ENTER THE CAR. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW, AND HAS 15,000 MILES ON IT. THE SUNROOF GLASS HAD EXPANDED OUTWARDS, AS SEEN IN THE PICTURE, AND DID NOT HAVE ANY CRACKS DUE TO IMPACTS PRIOR TO THE GLASS FAILURE.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET I LOST POWER AND CONTROL TO THE ENGINE. CONTROL OF THE ENGINE IS LOST WHEN WITHOUT WARNING ACCELERATION IS LOST. THE CAR WILL SLOW UNTIL ABOUT 5 MILES AN HOUR SPEED. THE RPMS WILL FLUCTUATE UP AND DOWN AND STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR DOES NOTHING. NO WARNING IS GIVEN, AND I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT. THE DIAGNOSTIC WAS COMPLETED AT A FORD DEALERSHIP AND IT TURN OUT TO BE THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUES WITH FORD CARS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME. LOSING CONTROL OF ACCELERATION CAN BE DEADLY DEPENDING ON THE CIRCUMSTANCES. ONCE THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND STARTED UP AGAIN THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN, ONCE YOU HAVE IT, THE PROBLEM WILL BE THERE UNTIL IT IS REPAIRED AND HOPE THAT THE ISSUES NEVER RETURNS.
THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FAILED CAUSING LOUD GRINDING NOIISE
STARTED CAR LEFT MY HOME AND PULLED OUT ONTO THE ROAD. I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. I REACH A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND I FELT A SLIGHT SHUTTER AND SAW A WARNING INDICATOR WRENCH LIGHT UP ON THE CAR. I DEPRESSED THE THROTTLE AND FOUND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNRESPONSIVE TO THROTTLE INPUT. I HAD TO COAST ALONG TO A STOP THANKFULLY I WAS IN A SAFE AREA WHEN THIS OCCURRED. IF THIS EVENT WERE TO OCCUR IN CERTAIN SCENARIOS THE OUTCOME COULD BE FATAL. I WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART AND I NOW HAD NORMAL FUNCTIONALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THE INFORMED THAT THIS WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY CONTROL. FROM DOING SOME ONLINE RESEARCH THIS PROBLEM APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN VERY PREVALENT ON OTHER FORD MODELS.
The rear backup camera has failed 5 times, the last time after only 7 days. There is a recall out on this problem on other Ford Vehicles (i.e. F150, Expedition, etc.) but not my model year. This is an extreme safety issue as it makes the vehicle unsafe to backup. The blind spot with the Extended Length edition is probably about 20 plus feet using just the mirrors. I've repeatedly contacted Ford Customer Service and the Dealer, and it has yet to be resolved. In some cases, the Ford Customer Service person stopped communicating with me and closed out the Open Case without notice or action to resolve. In one case they wanted me to pay for more than half of the cost without any assurance that the problem was understood or a fix in place. The Dealership has investigated several times and determined that the problem is not with the wiring or the display, but with the camera. The issue appears to be with the design, manufacture, or failure of the components used not suitable for the environment (temperature, humidity or vibration). The fear is that someone will be injured, or a fatality will occur, at a minimum damage to other property and the vehicle. This is an untenable situation. Thank you for reviewing this and hopefully escalating this to the level of a recall. I'm sure based upon the review of other complaints on the internet that I'm not the only person with this safety issue.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, BUT THE DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS HAD NOT YET BEEN DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000.

SINCE THE PURCHASE OF MY NEW EXPEDITION I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE POOR PERFORMANCE OF THE HEADLIGHTS. THE EXPEDITION HAS THE PROJECTOR STYLE HEADLIGHTS AND THE LIGHT OUTPUT IS TERRIBLE. DRIVING IN THE WINTER MONTHS WITH RAIN OR SNOW THE VISIBILITY IS NEAR ZERO. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER THE DAY AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR, SPRING 2016, AND THEY MADE SOME ADJUSTMENTS. HOWEVER NOW THAT IT IS GETTING DARK EARLIER I FIND MYSELF DRIVING IN THE DARK MORE OFTEN AND THE VEHICLE IS NEAR UNSAFE. I FEAR THAT I WILL NOT SEE AN OBJECT OR ANIMAL IN THE ROAD. THE CAR HAS BEEN BACK AT THE DEALER FOR OVER A WEEK, THEY HAVE TRIED REPLACING THE HEADLIGHTS BUT I FEAR IT IS A DESIGN FLAW. I PICKED UP THE CAR THIS EVENING AND WHEN I STARTED DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD I HAD TO DOUBLE CHECK TO CONFIRM THE HEADLIGHTS WERE ON. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER, THE GENERAL MANAGER ALSO ACKNOWLEDGED THE HEADLIGHTS LOOKED LIKE A PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW SO I WOULD EXPECTED IT NOT TO HAVE THESE ISSUES. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ATTENTION YOU CAN OFFER TO THIS UNSAFE PROBLEM. *TR
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS DO NOT ADEQUATELY LIGHT UP THE ROAD AHEAD. YOU CAN BARELY SEE ANYTHING ON THE ROAD IN FRONT OF THE CAR. I MUST USE THE HIGH BEAMS IF I WISH TO SEE THE ROAD AHEAD OF ME. I HAVE HEARD THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MANY EXPEDITIONS. THIS OCCURS WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. IT OCCURS WHETHER THE CAR IS ON THE HIGHWAY OR CITY STREET.
