The rear view camera doesn't work keeps going blank or screen is blurred or stays on while driving forward. screen won't connect to phone or screen stays on when vehical is shut off. When starting vehical it only shows ford emblem and won't load at all. Not able to change anything on it at all for music or navigation
i bought a 2020 ford expedition with the 10r80 transmission last july. They have used this transmission since 2017 and continue to put it in vehicles depite having many issues with them. When i was sold this vehicle i was told it had a new transmission just put in it (by another dealership than who i was buying it from) and the carfax (that i still have) shows that the transmission had been replaced. In the last month or so ive been having a hard shift at 4th and 8th gear. i figured it would be covered under warranty so i take it back to the dealership that did the work. They said it didnt have a new transmission only the cdf clutch was replaced. now when i look at the carfax it only shows the tranmission was rebuilt. Thats Fraud. a dealership shouldnt be able to change a entry. i was only 2231 miles over the powertrain warranty and ford will not help. the part that was fixed only had a year warranty and it just a month past a year since it was repaired. Ford knows this tranmission has problems and should be held accountable. i look forward to hearing from someone.
I had my 2020 Expedition looked at for transmission issues. Vehicle at times gets stuck and gears do not shift which causes vehicle to lose power both on the HWY and regular streets. I took into dealership on 3/20/24 they said they would have to get transmission module reset as this is a known issue with the expeditions. Well here I am 3 weeks later and vehicle is doing the same thing when I was driving down the street and attempted to switch lanes vehicle would not go into gear and sounded like something was breaking off of it. It has done this 3 times within the last 10 days. Vehicle at dealership now and tech is saying they can not reproduce issue so they can not fix. I told them I have done research on this issue and states that it could be selenoids. This is not something normal that should be happening to a 2020 expedition. Transmission issues were we can get injured from vehicle malfunctioning. I was stuck in the middle of an intersection when vehicle transmission malfunctioned on this occasion. other instance family was on the HWY their is no warning to when this is going to happen and speed is not a factor since it has happened on HWY and street driving.
Our car keeps losing power. Ford has replaced the differential, the transmission twice, and had the car between 4-6 months in the last 18 months. It is now in for its 8th repair. The car loses power while driving. It has done it so many times we have lost count. One of the alerts we get it "electronic limited slip differential reduce torque". Sometimes we can continue driving, sometimes we have to pull over and turn off and on the car. IT started fall/winter of 2022. The car is at ford again.
Already submitted 2 prior complaints regrading Transmission/Engine NHTSA ID 11583360. Vehicle transmission failure. Vehicle is at Ford Dealership for repairs. Safety risk involved risk of accident. Problem has been reproduced and confirmed by Ford service advisor. Vehicle is currently at dealership waiting on repairs to be made. It has been inspected by extended warranty advisors and approved for repair. Vehicle does give any warning when engine/transmission failure occurs. This has been documented since I bought the vehicle in Sept. 2022 with the dealership. This is the 3rd or 4th time it has gone into be checked finally when it happened and dealership was able to reproduce they stated that transmission needs to be rebuilt or new one needs to be installed. Since warranty did not want to cover new transmission they are going to rebuilt it. Before this instance they said it was because transmission failure due to having some sensor reset which did not work.
Vehicle is slipping back into natural when driving. Vehicle losses power and won't move almost causing me to get hit from incoming traffic. It's a known problem with ford and should be responsible for the 7k cost for new transmission.. please investigate this. It's too early for a transmission a fault on a 2020.
We own a Ford Expedition 2020. In 2023, we started noticing jerky, harsh, and aggressive “slips” when the vehicle was trying to change gears - upon multiple occasions. But, in 2024, we experienced three, major, different instances - all were extremely scary and it was miraculous they didn’t cause accidents, car pile ups, or worse! The first instance, the vehicle jerked and sputtered just as I was pulling out into a busy intersection. I thought it was going to die in the middle of the road. The second instance, several weeks later, it happened, again, as our family was driving in pouring rain down the interstate; it jerked so hard it felt like we hit a small wall. The third and final instance, we were on our way to vacation - 9 hours away with our family. It sputtered, jerked, and laid in 1st gear. Thank God, we were right at a hotel and able to pull in. We found a local mechanic to take the Expedition in and begin work on it. He was so kind to loan us his car to take on to PA to the Sight & Sound Theater so we wouldn’t lose our money on the tickets. We ended up losing 2 full days of our 4 day vacation; had to rent a vehicle to drive back home; and left our Expedition in VA for 6 weeks while they rebuilt a transmission and cleaned the catalytic converter. $12,160 to the mechanic + $1000 in car rentals. Here we are, now in August 2025, and there’s been a recall on the Powertrain Control Module and that’s being replaced. Lo, and behold, what does the PCM do? It acts as the vehicle’s main computer, managing and controlling various engine and TRANSMISSION functions (adjusting engine parameters like fuel injection, ignition timing, and transmission shift points) - imagine that!
Moon roof leaking requiring 4,000 in parts and labor to replace the entire system at 40k miles.
I was driving on the highway and suddenly it felt like a hard shift and the vehicle was in what seemed to be neutral (I was pushing the gas, engine revving) but no forward motion. At 70 miles an hour in traffic, it was very dangerous. I have 70k miles so I would not expect problems of this nature. There was no warnings prior to this.
The transmission has been having problems for a year. Ford changed the valve plate in transmission due to hesitation and then jerky gear shifting. Problem is still happening. Car hesitates when shifting gears and then jerks. Sometimes the car will no shift gears and go when needed. Almost got in a wreck because it would not accelerate.
The evaporator hose was faulty and wasn't connected right. It caused water to settle under the passenger side carpet and mold to grow underneath. Wire wraps along the inside of the door and base floor also have mold. Myself and family breathing in mold spores is a complete health risk. It has been confirmed by a Ford dealership and an insurance representative was contacted who also confirmed. There were not any warnings of this failure. The dealership stated this has been a common problem but has not be recalled for this type of vehicle at this time.
On Monday, December 16, 2024 I brought my vehicle in for diagnostic services due to a 'metal on metal' noise causing a vibration in the gas pedal, and loss of power when vehicle reached 2000 rpms. This vehicle is hazardous to drive and leaves the vehicle behind me without any indication that my vehicle is experiencing a loss of power and is slowing down abruptly. The vehicle began hard shifting at approximately 30-40k miles, and the dealership stated they were unable to duplicate the problem and did not document my complaint during my inquiry at oil changes. Although there is a technical service bulletin to address this concern, as an individual with Master of Science in Engineering Management educated in Safety, and currently serving as a volunteer of the Federal Aviation Administration Safety Team, I am requesting a thorough investigation of the vehicle's performance in this current condition as well as any other previous vehicle crashes that may have occurred as a result of this issue.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Expedition. The contact stated the windshield wipers were intermittently inoperable. Additionally, the contact stated that while attempting to drive from a complete stop at night, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to turn off and was drivable after 15 minutes. The vehicle was driven to a parking spot. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the windshield washer line located on the front passenger's side and on the rear windshield had exploded due to washer fluid accumulation. The dealer informed the contact that the failure caused the windshield washer fluid and freon to leak into the dashboard module and onto the front passenger's side floorboard. The dealer repaired the R and R BCM, reprogrammed the RCM communication circuit and the BCM, and installed the Alarm-KE and the R and R auxiliary evaporator cord. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 68,305.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and accelerating, the transmission failed to shift above 3rd gear. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and a diagnostic test was performed. The contact was informed of the internal failure of the transmission and that the transmission needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the transmission was slipping and shifting hard while accelerating. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that certain 2020 Ford Expedition equipped with the 10-speed transmission were being recalled. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 94,000.
While driving, if another vehicle passes while on a two line road, the hood will raddel. Getting out and inspecting I see flex in the hood where attached to hydraulic to hold hood up. The weekend I bought our Ford Max, we went to NC, while driving we saw flexing in the hood, at the time we thought it was illusion from reflection from the guard rail. We continue to have flexing would call it buckling and can hear the hood trying to separate from the latch. If some one forgets to shut the hood or latching lock fail, the hood will fly up and cause an accident.
Vehicle rolled back down the driveway by itself. I have videos shows me parking the vehicle and locking it. Second video shows the Ford rolling back [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The second row passenger seat belt will not retract. Also, all three passenger seats on the second row would not lock when trying to install a car seat.
Transmission shifts from 3rd to 5th gear very hard and downshifts from 10th to 8th very hard also.
Traveling on the highway I lost all acceleration, the gas pedal wasn’t functional and the vehicle begins to quickly decelerate, then it corrects itself and accelerates quickly. It has done this a few times already.
Transmission is slipping & failing. Why is this happening on a vehicle that is 4 years old
Panoramic moonroof suddenly exploded in a car wash during the high pressure air drying. Thankfully the sunshade was closed and my 3 children sitting in the middle row were not sprayed or hit with the shattered glass, water or air from the car wash and were not seriously injured. Ford clearly knows there is a problem, and I’ve watched numerous news stories about exploding moonroofs and I want to know if NHTSA will re- investigate this known problem and huge safety risk.
When driving the vehicle will jerk and lag between gears. At 70 mpg while excelling the car will jerk and some times pop out of gear and slowdown. Sometimes during slow down it does the same.
While I am driving, or stopping to turn or at the red light the engine turned off completely, and a warning signs will display telling me to restart my car again, it is very scary abd dangerous. It happens 3 times so far where I have to turn on my warning flash lights, so cars behind me could pass me or wait until I restart and drive again. It happens with no warning
Front passenger door latch is inoperable from inside in cold weather (below freezing) preventing egress of front passenger without a seperate person opening door from outside vehicle.
My check charging system light came on at a drive thru and the truck put itself in park and shut off. I tried to start it back up and wouldn’t start but the starter keep trying which lead to an electrical fire and the only way to get it to stop was to disconnect the battery. I was not even able to get the truck in neutral to push it out of the way. Even following the steps that it says by pressing both the brake and gas pedal and moving the knob. It would just go back in park. I had to have a tow truck to come remove my truck out of the drive thru is was blocking. My concern is that if this happened in a garage while using the remote start, it could’ve completely caught fire had not, I’ve been paying attention.
Transmission lost power, revved up high and wouldn't shift into gear. All this happened while driving. Taking to Ford dealership for a second time for the same thing. Car is equipped with the 10R80 transmission.
While driving the car, it would completly lose power at arounf 45 mile per hour. It seems the transmission does not shift correctly. The automobile is completly unsafe to drive. Dealer says it will take 6 to 12 months to repair unless there is a recall (i have not found a recall yet). Thanks

I am filing a safety complaint regarding my 2020 Ford Expedition, which is currently subject to Recall (24E13) related to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM)> Despite multiple repair attempts, the vehicle continues to experience dangerous transmission and drivability issues. While driving , the vehicle: Loses gears unexpectedly Engine RPMs rev excessively high before the transmission finally engages Hesitates and has delayed acceleration Randomly makes loud clunking noises during shifting Emits a noticeable burning smell during acceleration These issues create serious safety concerns, particularly when merging into traffic, crossing intersections, or accelerating from a stop. The delayed acceleration and gear loss place me and my passengers at risk of collision. The vehicle has been brought in multiple times for the same recall-related issue, yet the problem persists. The repair attempts have not resolved the unsafe condition. I am requesting immediate corrective action to ensure the vehicle is safe to operate. This ongoing defect presents a clear safety hazard.
I purchased this vehicle used, I started having transmission issues here and there and now it's more frequent. I travel from Houston tx to Katy Texas weekly and travel on I-10, the most dangerous road in Houston with my 9 year old daughter and 2 year old son. There have been several times where I was almost rear ended because the vehicle shifted gears and when I would push the accelerator the vehicle would do nothing and just glided. Yesterday traveling to Katy, it happened again but only this time the vehicle didn't shift back into gear for a longer period of time and again almost causing us to get rear ended. I have taken my vehicle to Ford only to tell me that they test drive it and nothing happened so they were not able to fix anything. I have read several complaints about this issue with the 10 speed transmission but nothing is being done about it. This is supposed to be a safe family vehicle on the road but instead it's a DEATH trap waiting to happen. Please, please, please look into Ford being held responsible for this issue that should be fixed. Thank you for your help.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH, the vehicle shuddered with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure also occurred while the vehicle was idling. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where diagnostic codes: P0011, P0012 and P0016 were retrieved. The dealer determined that the crankshaft chain was stretched and needed to be replaced in bank #1 and bank #2, along with the pretensioners and phasers. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 98,800.
The transmission keeps slipping while driving. It has been happening for over 6 months. Continuous visits to FORD and they are unable to find the problem. Now, we noticed our transmission temperature is rising to 240 degrees.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH, the vehicle suddenly shifted into neutral independently. The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, after which the vehicle returned to normal functionality. However, the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, who was also unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000.
There are 3 issues going on with my SUV. Each item has been identified or verified at my local dealership. My main issue is that the car occasionally will not go into the correct gear. This mostly happens when I haven't driven the car in a couple of days, and it's cold out. It also shifts hard for no reason. I was informed that there is some sort of transmission issue with my type suv. I never received a recall notice or anything. Second, my alarm goes off in the middle of the night randomly. The dealership said this was due to a faulty latch on the back of the car. They also said this was a newer issue that other customers have had. Last, my pre-collision assist will activate when there is nothing around to trigger it. This has happened one time so far.
The transmission jumps when putting it in park or reverse or when driving and switching gears. This is a well known issue with this vehicle. Ford has done nothing to correct it. It’s a safety issue as I went to Pass and my car stalled on the highway and did not switch gears. I do not feel to be responsible for paying for a repair that is happening everywhere.
The car when accelerating feels like it misses a gear then re catches lurching the car. Also when engaging from park to drive, reverse or neutral the vehicle bucks forward. It has been brought to the dealership for a re learn and that only worked for a couple of days. Scheduled again for it to be looked at. There are no warning messages and the vehicle does this when accelerating at random or when letting off the gas then re engaging to drive. This can pose a huge risk when merging to traffic and day to day driving with my family.
Routinely the vehicle shifts erratically, can't seem to find the right gear, and loses power. I am surprised that I have not been rear-ended yet as the vehicle loses power on busy roads and freeways.
I was sitting at the kitchen table with my children doing some painting projects for Halloween and my car started smoking, my alarms started going off and within a matter of minutes my car was completely engulfed in flames, I grabbed my kids and ran outside as the car was close to our house and we then called 911. By the time the fire department arrived the car was a complete loss, and my house has sustained minor damages.
Transmission slip in 4A and above gear 4 at speed..hesitation at speed accelerating inconsistent, clunking/jerking from park to reverse when parked. 22’s have lawsuit…don’t understand why 20’s aren’t included. Need recall
Transmission is awful hestiates and is going to cause serious accident. Latest incident occured on freeway semi started coming into my lane without seeing me and I floored it. Car hesitated I had to swerve onto the shoulder to avoid the accident. There have a number of occurneces over the 3 years we have owned the car where we have almost got hit because the car hesitates. My wife will not let our kids ride in the car because it is unsafe. Ford has attempted to fix the transmission 5 time and stil has not suceeded.
Transmission has always been faulty in the vehicle. The vehicle constantly hesitates. We have had a number of incidents when turning the transmission hesitates and come close to getting hit. Car hesitates and slips when entering freeway and we almost get rear ended. Last week I was on the freeway and a semi started to come in my lane I attempted to floor it to avoid a collision and vehicle hesitated and did not take off. I had to swerve onto the shoulder to avoid the accident. I have notified Ford 5 times of the problems. Ford has attempted to fix the transmission 3 times and failed every time.
Hard shifts into gears, when accelerating to pass a vehicle vehicle stalls and loses all power even on interstate and will not accelerate until it gets down to 15-20MPH. Almost wrecked several times because of this as I went to pass another vehicle. Very very dangerous at highway speeds. No warning lights or anything came on
Hard shift 3rd-6th gear as well as from park to reverse or drive
The transmission frequently hesitates or fails to engage gears when changing speeds. Sometimes the vehicle will fail to engage when increasing speeds on the highway to pass another vehicle and go into a neutral state momentarily causing the vehicle to drastically lose speed. This can happen anytime even when going at slower speeds. FORD has assessed the problem and knows that 1,000s of people are experiencing these very dangerous situations but do not have a solution for the problem. This defect could result in a catastrophic event. FORD should recall these vehicles and compensate customers until a solution to this major flaw is found. This has been happening over the last 6 months of driving. Countless number of incidents.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving at approximately 5 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle was hesitating and then hard shifting into gear while gaining forward momentum. The contact stated that the hard shifting and hesitation had occurred at various speeds. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle had started to hesitate while shifting into drive(D) or reverse(R) after a cold start. The contact stated no warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the failures were intermittent but were occurring more frequently in the past several months. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the TCU needed to be re-flashed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
