THERE WAS A SHORT CIRCUIT IN THE DISTRUBUTION WIRING AT THE RIGHT REAR CORNER OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AT THE FIREWALL RESULTING IN A FIRE THAT QUICKLY ENGULFED THE ENTIRE VEHICLE, NO ONE WAS INJURED DURING THE FIRE. INVESTIGATION REPORT PROVIDED IN THE INFORMATION REGARDING FIRE INCIDENT. NLM
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ACCELERATED SUDDENLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY, RESULTING IN A COLLISION. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT DEALERSHIP WITH ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. *AK
VEHICLE PARKED. SHIFTED FROM PARK TO DRIVE AND VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FORWARD. FOOT WAS NOT ON BRAKE OR GAS PEDAL. HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. GAS PEDAL WAS TO FLOOR. WAS DEPRESSING BRAKES HARD TO STOP, BUT VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP UNTIL IT HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE.*AK
WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN AT 5 MPH WHEEL BROKE AT SPINDLE, AND ROLLED PAST VEHICLE. *AK
THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE 1994 FORD EXPLORER THAT THE MANUFACTURER WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE. I KNOW OF 3 OTHER OWNERS PERSONALLY THAT HAVE THE SAME COINCIDENTAL PROBLEM. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR UNLESS NURSED TO DO SO. THIS HAS NEARLY CAUSED SEVERAL POTENTIAL CRASHES. NOT TO MENTION VERY VERY POOR FUEL ECONOMY. *AK
ENGINE LIGHTS HAS COME ON SEVERAL TIMES, ENGINE RUNS ROUGH IN GEAR AT IDLE, DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, ALSO SERPENTINE BELT WAS REPLACED, AS WELL AS THE EGR PRESSURE SENSOR WHICH WAS STICKING, ALSO THERMOSTAT WAS REPLACED.*JB
EA00012, CABLE CORRODED, CAUSING SPARE TIRE TO FALL OFF, WHICH ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH. *AK THE CONSUMER STATES THAT THE SPARE TIRES SHOULD BE PUT INSAFER PLACE THAN UNDER THE VEHICLE. *YH

WENT TO FORD DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED PROBLEM WAS FRONT HUBS NEEDED REPLACEMENT FOR $1000, TALKED TO ANOTHER MECHANIC AND HE SAID SAMETHING BUT IS NOT ABLE TO GET ANY HUBS BECAUSE HE HAS BEEN TOLD THAT FORD IS BUYING UP ALL OF THE NEW/REBUILT HUBS BECAUSE THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM. SECOND MECHANIC ASKED SOME DEALERS WHEN MORE HUBS WOULD BE AVAILABLE AND WAS TOLD NO DATES AVAILABLE DUE TO FORD BUYING SO MANY.*AK

WAS PROCEEDING INTO AN INTERSECTION FROM A STOP WHEN VEHICLE STALLED. NO WARNING & WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY. BEEN TO DEALERSHIP & MECHANIC WHO INDICATED THAT CAUSE OF STALLING COULD NOT BE LOCATED. PRIVATE MECHANIC COULD NOT RESOLVE PROBLEM EITHER.*AK

EGR VALVE HAS HEAT RUST AND THE AIR TUBE FROM THE VALVE CRACKED, BOTH HAVE TO BE REPLACED
FRONT DISK PADS CRACKED AND WORN OUT IN ABOUT 11 TO 12 MONTHS THIS HAS HAPPENED FOR THE PAST 6 YEARS. ROTTORS ON BOTH SIDES CRACKED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT BOTH ROTTORS AND PADS SHOW SIGNS OF HEAT DAMAGE
ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPS WHILE IN OPERATION. WHEN THIS OCCURS, IT IS TYPICALLY DURING LOW SPEEDS OR WHILE TURNING ONTO ANOTHER STREET. ALSO, DURING HIGH SPEEDS, IT FEELS AS IF THE ENGINE WILL LOSE POWER, BUT WILL NOT SHUT OFF. A PRIVATE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO REPRODUCE DEFECT, AND THEY REPLACED FUEL FLOW VALVE/CONTROL IN AN ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE DEFECT. APPROXIMATELY 2-3 WEEKS LATER, ENGINE WOULD BEGIN STALLING AGAIN. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/ATTACHMENTS. *AK

HANDLE SEPARATED FROM DOOR WHEN PULLING DOOR CLOSED. DOOR FELL OPEN INTO TRAFFIC LANE. HANDLE DESIGN DOES NOT INCORPORATE ANY STRUCTURAL ATTACHMENT TO DOOR. HANDLE IS RETAINED SOLELY BY PLASTIC TRIM PANEL SUBJECT TO AGE DETERIORATION. *AK

CONSUMER RECEIVED LETTER REGARDING RECALL 00T005, HOWEVER THE CONSUMER REPLACED THE FIRESTONE ATX TIRES AFTER HEARING ABOUT THE TIRE PROBLEMS, THE DEALER REFUSED REIMBURSEMENT BECAUSE THERE WASN'T A WAY TO SEE IF THE TIRES WERE INCLUDED IN RECALL OR NOT. *SLC
IF FOR ANY REASON THE BRAKE LIGHT FUSE SHOULD BLOW, THE CRUISE CONTROL ON THIS VEHICLE WILL NOT DISENGAGE WHEN STEPPING ON THE BRAKE. THERE IS NO WARNING FOR THIS BY THE WAY. THIS COULD CAUSE A FATAL INJURY AS THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL MAKE THE CAR LUNGE FORWARD TRYING TO GET BACK TO THE CRUISE SPEED SETTING. YOU ALSO WILL LOOSE YOUR POWER BRAKES. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND THEIR ANSWER WAS TO GO BACK TO THE DEALER WHEN YOU HAVE A TECHNICAL ISSUE. I HAVE DONE THAT AND THE DEALER'S ANSWER WAS THAT THIS IS NORMAL FOR THIS VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD THAT IT IS THE WAY IT IS WIRED. THIS APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM ON THE 1994 EXPLORER. I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS LIKE THAT ON ANY OTHER MODEL OR YEAR FORD. IN MY OPINION IT SHOULD NOT MATTER WHAT THE CONDITION OF THE FUSE PANEL IS. IF THE DRIVER WANTS THE CRUISE CONTROL TO DISENGAGE, THEN IT SHOULD DISENGAGE NO MATTER WHAT. IF YOU WANT TO SEE THIS FOR YOURSELF, OBTAIN A 1994 EXPLORER AND PULL THE BRAKE LIGHT FUSE OUT OF IT'S SOCKET. IT IS LOCATED UNDER THE DASH TO THE LEFT OF THE STEERING WHEEL ON THE FUSE PANEL. NOW TAKE THE VEHICLE FOR A RIDE. WHEN YOU GET OVER 30 MPH ENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTOL. NOW TAP THE BRAKE AND SEE IF IT DISENGAGES. IT WILL NOT. IN FACT IF YOU FIGHT IT THE POWER BRAKES WILL GO AWAY. CONSUMER IS STILL WAITING FROM FORD TO BE REIMBURSED FOR RECALL 00T005, THE TIRES THAT WERE REPLACED WERE FIRESTONE RADIAL ATX (P235 75 R15), IT HAS BEEN FOUR MONTHS AND THE ONLY THING THE CONSUMER HAS RECEIVED ARE INCONVENIENCE LETTERS. *SLC

PE00 020; CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 70MPH ON HIGHWAYAND HEARD A BUMPING NOISE. HE DID LOSE CONTROL OF VEHICLE, BUT WAS ABLE TO STEER TO SAFETY ONTO THE SHOULDERS. LEFT REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED. TIRE WAS A FIRESTINE #ATX, P23575R15. THERE WERE NO INJURIES, AND CONSUMER STATED THAT HE WILL CALL FIRESTONE RETAILER TODAY.*AK
WHILE HAVING TIRES ROTATED, CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE WERE ON THE RECALL LIST, CONSUMER WAS THEN INFORMED BY FIRESTONE DEALER THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE TIRES, HOWEVER CONSUMER DISCOVERED THAT THE REPLACEMENT TIRES WERE NOT APART OF THE APPROVED SUBSTITUTION TIRES, CONSUMER DOES NOT FEEL SAFE WITH THE REPLACEMENT TIRES.(FIRESTONE TIRES)*YH

VEHICLE WAS A FORD TRUCK, EXPLORER, 1994.*AK THESE TIRES BEGAN TO SWAY/SWARVE AT A NORMAL SPEED ON HIGHWAY. SPEEDS ABOVE 55 MPH BEGAN TO SHOW A BUMPING OR BOUNCING TYPE SENSATION FROM THE REAR END AND TIRES. *YH

TRUCK HAS A HISTORY OF NOT STARTING AFTER BEING TURNED OFF AND SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING.
CONSUMER HAS HAD THE FRONT BRAKE PADS REPLACED 6 DIFFERENT TIMES DUE TO OVERHEATING, AND ALSO THE ROTORS HAVE BEEN TURNED, A BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WAS INSTALLED, THE REAR BRAKES SHOES WERE ADJUSTED AND THE REAR DRUMS WERE RESURFACED, THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS COMING ON DUE TO LOW BRAKE FLUID.*JB *YH
VEH HAS FIRESTONE TIRES THAT ARE RECALLED AND ONE OF THE TIRES THREW A TREAD AS INSD WAS GOING DOWN I-15. IT DID SIGNIFICANT DANAGE TO THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEH. INSD STATED THAT SHE HAD TIRE SIZE 23575/-15 ON VEH, SHE WAS TOLD BY FIRESTONE THAT THESE TIRES WERE ON THE RECALL LIST. (CLAIM 44-3078-419) *MW
CONSUMER REPLACED ALL THE FIRESTONE ATX DOT#W2HL1M0364 TIRES AS STATED IN THE RECALL (00T-005) AND HAS NOT RECEIVED REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE REPLACMENT TIRES. *MJS

WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT ABOUT 55 MPH, I HEARD AN EXPLOSION AND REALIZED IT WAS MY VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY ON THE THREE TIRES AND THE RIM OF THE FORTH. THE TIRE BLEW OUT ALL AROUND THE SEAM. PIECES FROM 3 TO 4 INCHES BLEW OUT OF THE TIRE ON TO THE FREEWAY. SOMEONE FROM AAA CAME AND CHANGED THE TIRE FOR ME. I INITIALLY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE CUTTER FORD DEALER IN AIEA, BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY REPLACEMENT TIRES. THEY REFERRED ME TO THE FIRESTONE DEALER AT 98-141 KAMEHAMEHA HWY, AIEA, HI 96706. THE FIRESTONE DEALER WAS ABLE TO REPLACE THE BLOWN OUT TIRE AND ONE ADDITIONAL TIRE. I AM NOW ON A WAITING LIST TO HAVE THE OTHER THREE TIRES REPLACED. THE FIRESTONE DEALER HAD NO IDEA WHEN THE OTHER TIRES WILL COME IN. THIS IS THE SECOND BLOWOUT THAT I HAVE HAD THIS YEAR WITH THE SAME BRAND AND TYPE OF TIRE. IT IS NOW VERY DISTURBING AND SCARY TO DRIVE THE FORD EXPLORER AS I CONSTANTLY AM IN FEAR THAT ANOTHER TIRE WILL BLOW OUT.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P235/75R15 )
