FOLLOWING FORD'S MOST RECENT "ATTEMPT" TO STOP EXHAUST FROM GETTING INTO THE CABIN, I DID SMELL IT AGAIN ON 7/9 AND 7/10. IT WAS ROUGHLY ONE TENTH OF THE STRENGTH OF THE LAST TIME I SMELLED IT, BUT I STILL SMELLED IT AT 3500 RPM OR GREATER GOING UP HILL AFTER A DOWNSHIFT. FORD KEEPS TRYING TO KEEP IT OUT OF THE CABIN INSTEAD OF PREVENTING IT FROM ESCAPING FROM THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. CAN I BE GETTING EXPOSED TO ODORLESS CARBON MONOXIDE ALL THE TIME AND JUST SMELL THE EXHAUST WHEN THE TWIN TURBOS PUT MORE AIR INTO THE ENGINE AND THE EXHAUST IS UNDERSIZED AND LEAKS FROM THE PRESSURE?
EACH TIME AFTER DRIVING OUR FORD EXPLORER FOR A LENGTH OF TIME WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING ON, MY WIFE AND I BEGIN TO FEEL LIGHT HEADED, TIRED AND SICK. MY WIFE IS PREGNANT AND WE HAVE SEVERE CONCERNS ABOUT THE SAFETY OF DRIVING OUR EXPLORER DUE TO THE HEALTH RISK OF CARBON MONOXIDE LEAKING INTO THE CABIN. WE ARE NOW AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH OTHER EXPLORERS AND ARE DEEPLY CONCERNED FOR OUR HEALTH AND THE HEALTH OF OUR BABY.
EXHAUST SMELL IN MAIN CABIN WHEN RPMS EXCEED 3200. HAPPENS MOST COMMONLY WHEN CLIMBING A STEEP GRADE OR ACCELERATING ONTO A FREEWAY TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR PAST TWO YEARS OR SO, IT CAN SMELL LIKE EXHAUST, BURNING HAIR, ETC. COMPLAINTS TO DEALER ARE GIVEN A CURSORY EXPLANATION OF EXCESS FUEL, IT IS NORMAL AND NOTHING CAN BE DONE. I'VE OWNED MANY VEHICLES OVER THE YEARS AND NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME THERE IS A HIGHER LEVEL OF ACCELERATION OR RPMS EXCEEDING 3200.
EVERY TIME YOU STEP ON THE GAS A LITTLE MORE THAN NORMAL, IE GOING UP A HILL AND GETTING UP TO SPEED, THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR FILLS UP WITH EXHAUST/ BURNING OIL SMELL AND IS QUITE DISORIENTING. I DONT KNOW IF THERE IS AN AREA THAT DOES NOT HAVE A FILTER OR IF IT SO POTENT THAT THE CABIN AIR FILTER CANT FILTER IT ALL OUT.
MY NAME IS [XXX] AND I LIVE IN LORAIN OHIO. I AM THE OWNER OF A 2014 FORD EXPLORER (LIMITED). RECENTLY, MY DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT FAILED AND AFTER MUCH RESEARCH ON MY PART I CAME TO THE REALIZATION THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE LED. I WENT TO MY DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED, EVEN THOUGH I PURCHASED THE PREMIUM MAINTENANCE PACKAGE FOR MY VEHICLE. I LOOKED IN THE VEHICLE MANUAL AND IT STATED THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE LED AND EXPECTED TO LAST FOR THE LIFETIME OF THE VEHICLE. MY EXPLORER IS JUST OVER 2 YEARS OLD AND HAS 45K MILES. I EXPLAINED TO THE DEALER THAT I DIDN'T FEEL AS THOUGH I SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE SINCE THIS IS EXPECTED TO LAST AND FAILED SO EARLY. I ALSO NOTED AS DID THE DEALER THAT THERE IS MOISTURE AND SOMETHING BLACK IN THE LIGHT INSIDE. THIS PROBABLY ATTRIBUTED TO THE LIGHT FAILING. WE ARE EXPERIENCING ABNORMAL AND EXTENSIVE EXHAUST FUMES IN THE CAB. WE HAD A LOCAL DEALER PERFORM THE NO CHARGE SERVICE OFFER BY FORD TO SEAL THE CABIN AND REPROGRAM THE AIR CONDITIONER BUT WE SOON REALIZED THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. WE SCHEDULED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED AGAIN. WE RECEIVED A MESSAGE (WE HAVE A RECORDING) FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT MANAGER THAT THERE WAS DEFINITELY AN ISSUE OF EXHAUST BEING PULLED INTO THE CABIN THAT THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN. THEY SAID THEY WOULD CALL FORD FOR DIRECTION. THEY THEN CONTACTED US TO SAY THAT FORD TOLD THEM THIS IS NORMAL WHICH IS A CLEAR CONTRADICTION THAT IS HARD TO ACCEPT AS A CONCLUSION. MY WIFE WILL NO LONGER RIDE IN THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE SERIOUS AFFECTS FROM THE INTENSE FUMES DURING ACCELERATION. SHOULD I SEEK LEGAL REPRESENTATION? THERE IS A DEFINITE DISCREPANCY IN THE RESPONSE FROM THE TWO PARTIES.
EXHAUST ODOR WHILE 1) OPERATING THE VEHICLE WITH FULL THROTTLE APPLICATIONS (E.G., CLIMBING STEEP GRADES OR MERGING ONTO FREEWAY RAMPS), AND OR 2) USE OF THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM IN RECIRCULATION MODE BOTH CONTRIBUTE TO EXHAUST GAS BEING DETECTED IN THE VEHICLE. HAVE HAD IT IN FOR SERVICE THREE TIMES. THERE WAS NO IMPROVEMENT AFTER REPAIRS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE EXHAUST FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE LEAKED INTO THE VEHICLE'S CABIN VIA THE AIR CONDITIONING VENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT HAD A CARBON MONOXIDE READER THAT SHOWED THERE WAS CARBON MONOXIDE INSIDE THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A TSB NUMBER 140130. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.

FOR ABOUT SIX TO EIGHT MONTHS, I HAVE BEEN SMELLING A FOUL (ROTTEN EGGS/SULPHUR) ODOR IN MY CAR. I NOTICE IT ON MY COMMUTE ABOUT THE SAME PART OF MY TRIP EACH DAY, WHICH IS THE POINT AT WHICH I AM ABLE TO ACCELERATE GETTING ON TO A TOLL ROAD AND OTHER PARTS OF MY DRIVE. IT NEVER OCCURRED TO ME THIS MIGHT BE RELATED TO MY CAR; THEREFORE I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL DOCTORS AND HAD A SINUS CT SCAN TO TRY TO DETERMINE WHY I AM SMELLING THIS ODOR. A FAMILY MEMBER TOLD ME JUST THIS PAST WEEKEND ABOUT A STORY SHE HEARD ON CBS THAT NOW STARTS TO MAKE THE FOUL SMELLS MAKE MORE SENSE TO ME. I HAVE ALSO HAD INCREASED HEADACHES THIS PAST YEAR, AND HAVE ALSO BEEN SEEING A SPECIALIST. I NOW WONDER IF MY INCREASED HEADACHES MAY ALSO BE TIED TO THE POSSIBLE EXHAUST ISSUE WITH MY CAR. PLEASE ADVISE HOW I SHOULD PROCEED. I HAVE ALSO ORDERED A PORTABLE CARBON MONOXIDE SENSOR TO KEEP IN MY CAR TO ENSURE MY SAFETY UNTIL FORD IS ABLE TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while entering the driver’s side front door, she noticed that the trim panel cover material had separated at the top of the window. The contact also noticed the failure on the passenger’s side front door. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic linked the failure to the manufacturer’s Customer Satisfaction Program Number: 17N04. The dealer and the manufacturer were contacted and stated that the vehicle was out of warranty and also exceeded the mileage limit for coverage under Customer Satisfaction Program Number: 17N04. The failure mileage was 83,000.
RECENTLY HAD TO REPLACE A FAILED POWER STEERING ISSUE, AND I AM READING THAT MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. FORD HAS INDICATED THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT CURRENTLY UNDER A RECALL, BUT OBVIOUSLY IT IS EFFECTING MORE VEHICLES THAN JUST THE ONES THEY HAVE RECALLED. MY VEHICLE LOST THE ABILITY TO STEER ON THE FREEWAY, PUTTING MYSELF AND MY CHILDRENS' LIVES AT RISK. THIS IS DISGRACEFUL THAT FORD WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THIS ISSUE FOR MORE THAN JUST THE SELECTED VEHICLES.

I AM HAVING A MAJOR CONCERN OVER THIS RECALL GIVEN THE FACT THAT NOTHING CAN BE DONE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE UNTIL THE THIRD QUARTER OF 2016. HOW CAN FORD ALLOW 75K+ DRIVERS TO DRIVE WILLINGLY KNOWING THERE MAY BE A POTENTIAL ISSUE WITH THEIR STEERING. THIS IS EVEN MORE SO OF A CONCERN FOR ME SINCE MY FAMILY AND I ARE SCHEDULED TO TRAVEL NORTH 16 HOURS TOMORROW. HEAVEN FORBID BUT WHO WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES TO MY VEHICLE OR MY FAMILY BECAUSE FORD WAS NOT PROACTIVELY PREPARED TO REMEDY THIS ISSUE? WHO WILL REIMBURSE ME FOR A RENTAL SINCE I CANNOT RELY ON MY VEHICLE I PAY GOOD MONEY FOR AND ON TIME EVERY MONTH? THIS IS MY VERY FIRST FORD VEHICLE I HAVE HAD FOR 6 MONTHS AND THIS IS THE 2ND STEERING ISSUE IVE ENCOUNTERED AND AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AND CONCERNED. I BOUGHT MY 2014 FORD EXPLORER IN NOVEMBER OF 2015. I NOTICED A ROTTEN EGG/ EXHAUST SMELL AS THE WEATHER BECAME WARMER. ANYTIME I WOULD ACCELERATE UP A HILL OR ACCELERATE ON A FLAT STRETCH OF ROAD DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS WAS WHEN THE SMELL IS THE WORST. I HAVE TO ROLL DOWN ALL OF THE WINDOWS. I NO LONGER ALLOW MY CHILDREN TO RIDE IN THE THIRD ROW BECAUSE THEY WOULD COMPLAIN ON THE LONGER CAR RIDES OF HAVING A HEADACHE. I HAVE TAKEN THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 3 OCCASIONS NOW. THEY HAVE TOLD ME THEY HAVE TRIED TO REPRODUCE MY COMPLAINT, AND HAVE FAILED TO DO SO. I AM CURRENTLY GOING TO THAT THE SERVICE MANAGER ON A RIDE TOMORROW TO REPRODUCE THIS SMELL. I MAY HAVE ALREADY COMPLAINED, BUT THIS CAN UPDATE THAT. WHEN PULLING A LONG GRADE AND THE VEHICLE HAS DOWNSHIFTED,3500 OR MORE RPM AND ABOUT 65 MPH UNDER LOAD, I SMELL SULFUR IN THE CABIN. IT SEEMS TO BE WORSE WHEN THE COVERS FOR MY MOON ROOF AND SUN ROOF ARE RETRACTED. IT HAS BEEN IN TO A DEALER 4 TIMES NOW, SO I HAVE LOST A MONTH OF USE. THE LAST RETURN WAS ON FRIDAY 1 JULY. I HAVE NOT HAD A CHANCE TO TAKE IT TO A LOCAL MOUNTAIN THAT MAKES IT SMELL. FORD KEEPS WORKING ON THE BACK END, THE EXHAUST THERE HAS ALMOST NO SMELL. I TOLD THE DEALER THE SULFUR SMELL COMES FORM EXHAUST THAT IS ESCAPING FROM THE ENGINE UP TO THE BACK OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS. WE RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER CONCERNING THE REAR SUSPENSION TOE LINK. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THIS VEHICLE SINCE RECEIVING THE LETTER. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN DRIVING A VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DRIVER DOOR CONTINUES TO SOUND ALARM OF DOOR AJAR, SLAM THE DOOR AND STILL THE SAME, VERY ANNOYING WHEN DRIVING BECAUSE IT WON'T STOP
WE SMELL EXHAUST GAS WHEN THE CAR IS IN FULL THROTTLE, LIKE WHEN CLIMBING A STEEP ROAD OR MERGING INTO FREEWAY RAMPS, OR JUST ANY SORT OF HARD(ISH) ACCELERATION. ODOR IS ALSO DETECTED WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS IN RECIRCULATION MODE. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE.
VEHICLE IS WARNING IT IS NOT IN PARK. POTENTIAL CONCERN VEHICLE WILL ROLL OR BE UNABLE TO TURN OFF. COULD RESULT IN VEHICLE ROLLING WHEN OPERATOR PUTS INTO PARK AND WON'T ENGAGE.
IN JUNE 2016, I RECEIVED A MANUFACTURERS RECALL LETTER FOR A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. RECALL NUMBER: 16S18. INDICATING THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION TOE LINK(S) MAY FRACTURE DUE TO AN IMPROPER WELD. RESULTING IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL, A DIFFICULT STEERING CONDITION, OR REAR SUSPENSION NOISE WITH AN INCREASED RISK OF A CRASH. IT STATED THAT WHEN PARTS ARE AVAILABLE, FORD WILL SEND A LETTER TO INFORM US TO CONTACT OUR DEALER TO SCHEDULE REPAIR. FOUR MONTHS HAVE GONE BY WITH NO WORD FROM FORD. I CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND ASKED ABOUT THE TIMING ON THIS PARTICULAR RECALL. DEALER INFORMED ME THAT PARTS TO FACILITATE REPAIRS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE AND THAT THEY ANTICIPATE A LETTER TO BE SENT OUT IN JANUARY OF 2017. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT 4 TO POSSIBLY 6 MONTHS OR MORE IS NOT A TIMELY COMPLETION OF WORK ASSOCIATED WITH A RECALL THAT INVOLVES SAFETY ISSUES AS SERIOUS AS LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. SINCE THE RECALL REPAIRS HAVE NOT BEEN TIMELY, MY SAFETY OFFICER FOR THE COMPANY I WORK FOR HAS INFORMED ME THAT MY ASSIGNED VEHICLE CAN NO LONGER BE DRIVEN UNTIL THE RECALL WORK HAS BEEN COMPLETED. THIS HAS CAUSED A MAJOR HEADACHE IN DEALING WITH THE LOGISTICS OF MY JOB AND THE NEED TO USE THAT VEHICLE FOR MY FIELD-RELATED WORK, WHERE NO OTHER VEHICLE IS READILY AVAILABLE.

I HAVE SEEN ON THE LOCAL NEWS THAT SOME VEHICLES IN THE MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR OF MY VEHICLE MAY CONTAIN CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING HEADACHES WHILE DRIVING OR RIDING IN MY CAR. AND AT TIMES I HAVE SMELLED THE PRESENCE OF EXHAUST SMELL WHILE RIDING OR DRIVING.
ON ACCELERATION LARGE AMOUNT OF EXHAUST FUMES IN THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE.
I HAVE FREQUENTLY EXPERIENCED A STRONG SMELL OF EXHAUST AND/OR BURNING OIL IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THIS OFTEN OCCURS WHEN THE A/C IS RUNNING AND/OR UNDER HEAVY ACCELERATION OR CLIMBING STEEP GRADES. I HAD MENTIONED THIS A FEW TIMES TO 2 LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIPS AND WAS ADVISED BY ONE THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF POSSIBLE ISSUES INVOLVING A CHEMICAL OR "PROPANE" SMELL, BUT NOT EXHAUST FUMES. THE OTHER HAD NO KNOWLEDGE THAT THIS WAS A FREQUENT OCCURRENCE.

FORD EXPLORER 2014 EXHAUST FUMES COMING INTO CABIN. I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE FROM AUTO NATION FORD OF KATY, TX ON OR ABOUT JULY 12, 2014. APPROXIMATELY ON OR ABOUT OCTOBER 21, 2014 BEGAN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE AC CEILING VENTS CLOSING ON 2ND AND 3RD ROW SEATS CLOSING. I TOOK MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS ON AUGUST 10, 2015 FOR THE SECOND TIME AND THIRD TIME ON MAY 2, 2016 AND SINCE THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES WE KNOW THAT IT WILL BREAK AGAIN FOR THE FOURTH TIME. ANOTHER ISSUE THAT HAS COME TO RECENT EVENTS AND THE TRUCK IS CURRENTLY AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR EXHAUST FUMES COMING INTO THE CABIN WHEN WE ACCELERATE AT MORE THAN 3 RPM'S AS OF MAY 2, 2016 AND MANY TIMES BEFORE AND WE HAVE BECOME AWARE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AND WE JUST THOUGHT IT WAS THE OTHER CARS FUMES BUT WHEN WE ROLLED THE WINDOWS DOWN THE FUME DISSIPATE AND FRESH AIR COMES IN AS LONG AS OUR WINDOWS ARE DOWN. THIS HAS ME AND MY FAMILY ON RED ALERT AND IS HEALTH HAZARDOUS TO MY WIFE AGE FORTY-TWO AND MY CHILDREN AGE EIGHT AND SEVEN (ALL HAVE EXPERIENCE HEADACHES AND MY WIFE NEARLY PASSING OUT WHILE DRIVING), TO DATE, THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IT HAS BEEN RETURN TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT BECAUSE MY DAUGHTER AN WIFE WHERE SMELLING THE WORST SMELL TO DATE IN THE CABIN AND MY DAUGHTER WAS COUGHING FROM THE BAD BURN SMELL SHE DESCRIBED TO ME AS BURNT FUMES AS MY WIFE.THE CO2 AND EXHAUST FUMES COULD BE NEGATIVELY IMPACTING HER HEALTH, AS SHE HAS EXPERIENCE DIZZINESS AND HEADACHES THAT HAVE PREVENT HER TO FUNCTION, AND OUR FAMILIES' GENERAL LONG TERM HEALTH FUTURE IMPACT. FORD SURELY HAS THE REST OF THE ORDER SERVICE FOR ATTEMPTED REPAIR OF THE EXHAUST FUMES COMING INTO THE CABIN. THIS PROBLEM SUBSTANTIALLY IMPAIRS THE USE OR VALUE OF MY VEHICLE AND CREATES A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD.
I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE RECEIVING THE RECALL NOTICE AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR THE RECALL
I BOUGHT A CERTITIFIED PREOWNED 2014 FORD EXPLORER IN FEBRUARY 2015. RECENTLY EVERY TIME THE EXPLORER WAS PUT IN PARK, AN ALERT WOULD GO OFF, SHOWING TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK. THE PAST FEW WEEKS THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD MAKE A GRINDING/GROWLING NOISE WHEN TURNING TOWARDS THE LEFT AND RIGHT. THE STEERING BECAME A LITTLE HARDER TO TURN AND IT FELT AS IF IT WOULD STICK. THIS WAS A VERY SCARY FEELING. I HAVE 5 CHILDREN AND DIDN'T WANT THEM IN THIS CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP 2 DAYS AGO AND FOUND OUT THAT MY ELECTRIC STEERING SYSTEM WAS LOCKED, THE GEAR SHIFT ASSEMBLY NEEDED REPLACING AND ALSO A NEW BELT. TOTAL COST $2,309.30. I WAS DEVASTATED. WE DO NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY LAYING AROUND. I CALLED THE FORD MANUFACTURER AND THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER TO GIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND GIVING THE CASE NUMBER, THEY CALLED BACK LATER AND STATED THEY WOULD GIVE ME A $300 DISCOUNT. THEREFORE AT THIS TIME, I HAD TO TAKE A $1500 LOAN OUT FOR THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING REPLACEMENT AND BELT. I WILL HAVE TO GO WITHOUT THE GEAR SHIFT ASSEMBLY BEING REPAIRED UNTIL WE CAN AFFORD IT. MY TOTAL WITHOUT REPLACING THE GEAR SHIFT ASSEMBLY IS $1696.30. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE, THIS IS NOTHING NEW WITH THE FORD EXPLORERS. THERE WERE SEVERAL RECALLS FOR THE SAME ISSUE FOR THE 2011 THROUGH 2013 MODELS. MY 2014 FORD EXPLORER HAS A 100,000 MILE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY BUT OF COURSE NONE OF THIS WAS COVERED. I AM SAVING MY RECEIPTS IN HOPES FORD WILL DO THE RIGHT THING. IF THEY DO NOT, I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER FORD. THIS ISSUES HAS PUT MY FAMILY IN DANGER AND IN FURTHER DEBT.

I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR AND CAN'T SELL IT BECAUSE NO ONE WILL BUY IT UNTIL RECALL DONE. I HAVEN'T HAD AN INDECENT YET, BUT, I WON'T DRIVE IT BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY RISKS TO MY FAMILY.

HAVE NOT GOTTEN ANY DASH LIGHTS. DEALERSHIP WANTS TO REPLACE ENTIRE RACK & PINION ASSEMBLY FOR OVER $1,400.00. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH IF SAME OR SIMILAR PROBLEM HAS CAUSED RECALL FOR EARLIER MODELS THIS COULD BE SAME ISSUE AND RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
PURCHASED A USED 14 EXPLORER AND TOOK A 300 MILE DRIVE ON REMOTE HIGHWAYS. WHEN I RETURNED I NOTICED ONE THE WINDSHIELD PANELS WAS COMPLETELY MISSING FROM THE VEHICLE AND THE OTHER ONE WAS ALSO RAISED AND APPEARED TO BE LOOSENING. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND APPARENTLY THIS IS A PREVALENT ISSUE ACROSS 2013-14 EXPLORERS AND ONE WHICH FORD DOESN'T EVEN COVER UNDER ITS WARRANTY- NOT TO MENTION THE SAFETY HAZARD. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THIS PIECE WAS GONE UNTIL I GOT HOME. HAD THEIR BEEN A CAR BEHIND ME WHEN THIS FLEW OFF GOING 75 MPH, THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED SOME SERIOUS DAMAGE OR ACCIDENT. I FIND IT ABSURD THAT FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A SAFETY RECALL FOR THIS. NOT TO MENTION IT COSTS $650 TO REPLACE EVERY TIME BECAUSE YOU NEED TO PURCHASE AN ENTIRELY NEW WINDSHIELD. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW FORD CAN CONTINUE TO DENY THIS ISSUE CONSIDERING HOW MANY MESSAGE BOARDS AND POSTS I'VE SEEN REGARDING THIS EXACT ISSUE. CAN YOU PLEASE ASSIST WITH THIS AND RAISE IT AS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE?
