I NOTICED AN EXHAUST SMELL COMING FROM THE VEHICLE WHEN ACCELERATING TO ENTER TRAFFIC. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST NEW CAR SMELL, BUT THIS SMELL OF EXHAUST FUMES HAS CONTINUED SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR NEW IN JULY 2015. I GET MY FIRST VEHICLE CHECK IN JANUARY 2016 AND NOW I'M CONCERNED. UPDATED 08/10/16.*JB THE CONSUMER REQUESTED A RESPONSE ON HOW MANY COMPLAINTS THERE ARE CONCERNING EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 03/27/2017 *JS
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN I EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THE POWER STEERING LOSS WAS PERMANENT AND DID NOT RECOVER. DROVE VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR.
EXHAUST SMELL ENTERS CABIN UNDER HARD ACCELERATION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EXHAUST FUMES EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. HOWEVER, THE REAR AIR FILTERS AND COMPUTER HVAC SYSTEM WERE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO DRIVE IRREGULARLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHAKES IN IDLE, AND GETS PROGRESSIVELY WORSE WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WAS ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHERE THE TECHNICIAN REFUSED TO ASSESS THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,700.
2015 FORD EXPLORER HAS FOUL SMELL INSIDE THE CABIN. REALLY NOTICEABLE WHEN THE WINDOWS ARE DOWN OR SUNROOF IS OPEN. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER (VARSITY FORD) THAT IT WAS PURCHASED FROM AND IT HAD A TECHNICAL BULLETIN. TECHNICAL BULLETIN WAS PERFORMED AND RELEASED BACK. VEHICLE STILL HAS SAME ISSUE. NOW THE DEALER IS SAYING THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO UNTIL THE FORD ENGINEERS INVESTIGATE. I INSTALLED A CARBON MONOXIDE SNIFFER INTO THE VEHICLE AND FOUND 45 PPM OF CARBON MONOXIDE ENTERING THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND EXPLAINED THE ISSUE. THERE TELLING ME THERE IS NOTHING AT THIS TIME THEY CAN DO WITHOUT FORD RELEASING A FIX ????????
EXHAUST/POSSIBLY CARBON MONOXIDE SMELL INSIDE PASSENGER AREA. AFTER HEAVY ACCELERATION EXHAUST ODOR FILLS CABIN. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME THERE IS A NEED FOR HEAVY ACCELERATION. THIS HAPPENED SINCE THE AUTO WAS NEW. I NOTICED ON A CNN REPORT THAT THIS ONLY HAPPENED ON POLICE VEHICLES. THAT IS NOT THE CASE. THIS IS NOT A POLICE VEHICLE.
I'VE HAD MY 2015 EXPLORER FOR A YEAR NOW. SINCE I HAVE HAD IT, WHEN YOU GET ON THE GAS SUCH AS MERGING IN TRAFFIC OR JUST TAKING OFF THERE IS A FOWL SMELL THAT COMES AND GOES. I THOUGHT BECAUSE IT WAS A NEW VEHICLE THAT WOULD HAPPEN UNTIL I READ THE CURRENT INVESTIGATION AND I AM NOW WORRIED THAT IT ISNT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN AND IT COULD BE BAD FOR MY CHILDREN AND I.
IN APRIL 2015, WE PURCHASED A 2015 FORD EXPLORER 3.5 LITER ECOBOOST V-6. FROM THE FIRST DRIVE ON THE INTERSTATE GOING HOME WITH OUR NEW CAR. WE HAD AN EXHAUST SMELL ON THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. EVERY TIME WE ACCELERATE TO GO UP HILLS OF NORTH EAST GEORGIA ENTERING THE INTERSTATE, OR PASSING CARS, WE SMELL EXHAUST FUMES AND HAVE TO ROLL DOWN OUR WINDOWS TO BE ABLE TO BREATH. WE HAVE GONE TO THE DEALER, A "SUPER STORE" , AND THEY SAID THAT IT IS ONLY THE NEW BURNING OFF THE ENGINE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM! WE HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS VEHICLE AND SPENDING THE EXTRA MONEY, THESE PROBLEMS SHOULD BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY! THESE FUMES COULD CAUSE A HEALTH PROBLEM INTERNALLY. I BOUGHT A 2015 FORD EXPLORER IN MAY OF 2015. I FREQUENTLY SMELL A SULFUR ODOR IN THE CABIN OF MY VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY WHEN CLIMBING HILLS. I STTARTED EXPERIENCING SEVERE HEADACHES, NAUSEA, LETHARGY, NUMBNESS, TINGLING, AND CRAMPING IN EXTREMITIES, LIGHTHEADED, LOSS OF BALANCE, VISION PROBLEMS AND MORE DURING THE SUMMER OF 2015. THE SYMPTOMS CONTINUE THROUGH TODAY. I HAVE BEEN UNDER THE CARE OF SEVERAL DOCTORS SINCE THEN INCLUDING A NEUROLOGIST, CARDIOLOGIST, ORTHOPEDIC SPINE SURGEON, AND PODIATRIST. ALL ARE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS CAUSING MY SYMPTOMS. I HAVE HAD A MRI OF MY BRAIN, X-RAYS OF MY SPINE, NEUROLOGICAL TESTING AND ADDITIONAL TESTS TO TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON. TWO FRIENDS JUST TOLD ME THAT THEY HEARD OF OTHERS WHO DRIVE 2015 FORD EXPLORERS WHO EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEMS AS ME.
EXHAUST SMELL IN THE CABIN WHILE DRIVING. SMELL CAN HAPPEN AT ANYTIME WHILE DRIVING.
I AM EXPERIENCING A EXHAUST ODOR IN THE CAB OF MY 2015 FORD EXPLORER DURING ACCELERATION. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE REGARDING THIS ISSUE FOUR TIMES SINCE JULY 2015.
MY CAR HAS PROJECTION HEADLIGHTS. ON A DARK ROAD, IT APPEARS AS THOUGH THERE IS A BLACK CURTAIN OVER THE TOP HALF OF MY WINDSHIELD. ROAD VISIBILITY IS LIMITED BY THIS, THIS WOULD BE THE CUT OFF LINE WHERE BELOW THE LINE THERE IS LIGHT AND ABOVE IT IS TOTAL DARKNESS. ON BACK ROADS WHERE THERE ARE NO STREET LIGHTS, THIS IS A HORRIBLE BLIND SPOT THAT IS WORSENED BY GOING DOWN HILLS AND AROUND CURVES. GOING DOWN A SLOPE CAUSES THE PROJECTION TO BE SHORTENED TO IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. IF THERE WERE PEDESTRIANS OR ANIMALS BEYOND THIS AREA, THEY WOULD BE INVISIBLE. DRIVING OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD MAKE THE CUT OFF LINE BOUNCE AROUND, QUICKLY BECOMING ANNOYING AS WELL AS DANGEROUS. ANYTHING ABOVE THIS CUT OFF LINE IS INVISIBLE, SUCH AS ROAD SIGNS. ON A PERFECTLY STRAIGHT AND LEVEL ROAD THE LIGHTS ARE BEARABLE. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON THE NEXT DAY AFTER I PURCHASED A NEW VEHICLE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY WHEN THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON.
LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND VEHICLE WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. FORD DEALER REPLACED ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING RACK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, A CHEMICAL SMELL EMITTED FROM THE EXHAUST INTO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO ADVISED THAT THE SMELL WAS NORMAL. DUE TO THE SMELL, THE CONTACT SUFFERED SERIOUS HEADACHES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WOULD BE AN EXHAUST ODOR COMING INTO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS, WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE EXHAUST ODOR WAS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10.
EXHAUST INCLUDING CARBON MONOXIDE ENTERS THE CABIN OF MY CAR. THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF EXHAUST AND SULFUR. THIS OCCURS WHEN YOU EXCEL THE VEHICLE. FORD HAS TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES AND CANNOT FIX MY CAR. THEY HAVE GIVEN UP AND WILL NO LONGER HELP US. LEAVING US WITH HEALTH PROBLEMS. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE 5,000 MILES AND WE NOW HAVE OVER 30,000 MILES.
DURING AND AFTER ACCELERATION AT ANY SPEED THERE IS A VERY STRONG SULPHUR SMELL IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. IT APPEARS TO ENTER FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND IT MUST BE EXHAUSTED BY OPENING THE WINDOWS EVERY SINGLE TIME. THE FUMES CONTAIN CO2 AND ARE VERY DANGEROUS TO ALL WITHIN THE VEHICLE. ALL PASSENGERS COMPLAIN OF A LIGHT HEADACHE AND NAUSEA.
MY 2015 FORD EXPLORER FILLS WITH EXHAUST FUMES ANYTIME I ACCELERATE HARD, SUCH AS PASSING, ACCELERATING TO GET ON THE INTERSTATE ("ON RAMP") ETC. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP 5 TIMES. THEY ALLEGEDLY CHANGED THE TAILGATE GASKETS TWICE AND REAR PART OF EXHAUST SYSTEM AND WHO KNOWS WHAT. THE CAR STILL DOES IT. I HAVE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS TO CLEAR OUT THE FUMES. I BECOME VERY SLEEPY WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT TIMES. I HAVE SCARED MYSELF SEVERAL TIMES, DRIFTING OUT OF MY LANE. I PARTIALLY WIND DOWN THE WINDOWS. WE HAVE BEEN SUFFERING WITH THIS FOR 2-3 YEARS. ONE DAY I WAS DRIVING WITH ALL OF THE WINDOWS DOWN AND ACCELERATED A LITTLE HARD TO WHERE THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTED AND THE WHOLE CABIN FILLED WITH FUMES. SO THE PROBLEM MUST BE COMING FROM THE FRONT AND NOT THE BACK. COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND NOT THE EXHAUST PIPES OR DEFECTIVE TAILGATE GASKETS. PLEASE ADVISE. THANK YOU
I LOOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING. HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. IT IS VERY NOTICEABLE WHE CAR SHIFT INTO 3RD GEAR. MY RPM'S GO FROM 4000 TO BELOW 3000 ( NORMAL ACCELERATION). WHEN I GIVE IT A LOT OF GAS I START TO SMELL THE TURBOS BURNING. PROBABLY CAUSE BY THE FACT THE ETANOL GAS IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THIS TWIN TURBO SET UP. NOT TO MENTION THE TRANSMISSION LEAKS AS WELL AS THE BOTTOM SIDE OF THE THROTTLE BODY. I LOVE FORD (AMERICAN MADE). BUT AS AN AMERICAN I FEEL THAT THEY FELLED ME. BREAKS MY HEART. ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO BUY A GOOD CHEVY FROM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE PANORAMIC ROOF SHATTERED ONTO THE REAR SEAT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE PANORAMIC GLASS WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,354. MA 08/11/15 UPDATED 10/20/2017*CN
SAME PROBLEM AS MANY. EXHAUST SMELL AT ~3,500 RPM. NO FIX, SECOND EXPLORER WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. RETURNED LAST ONE UNDER THE LEMON LAW PROGRAM.
DURING ACCELERATION (GETTING ON HIGHWAY, PASSING, ETC.) THE CAB FILLS WITH EXHAUST SMELL. WE IMMEDIATELY HAVE TO ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN TO GET THE SMELL OUT OF THE VEHICLE. FREQUENT PASSENGERS AND DRIVER WITH ASTHMA. WE HAVE TAKEN EXPLORER TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES BUT ONLY LEFT IT TWICE AS THEY SAID THEY ONLY HAD 2 TECHNICAL BULLETIN'S FROM FORD ON SUGGESTED FIXES. STILL SMELLS. DURING A GOOGLE SEARCH WE FOUND THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 2011. HAD WE HAVE KNOWN WE WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT THIS FORD EXPLORER.

WHEN WE ACCELERATE TO PASS A CAR OR SPEED UP ON ANY STREET THE ODOR ENVELOPES IN THE CABIN. WE ARE NOT SURE WHERE THE EXHAUST IS COMING IN FROM.
MY 2015 FORD EXPLORER HAS POOR LIGHTING. WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT YOU FEEL LIKE THE LIGHTS ARE OFF. VERY HARD TO SEE SOME ROADS. I HAVE MENTIONED THIS TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID THEY HAVE HEARD A FEW COMPLAINTS. I ALSO SAW AN ARTICLE ABOUT POOR LIGHTING IN SOME NEWER VEHICLES AND MY EXPLORER WAS LISTED IN THE ARTICLE. I ALSO HAVE A 2018 EXPLORER. SOME TIMES THE LIGHTS LOOK DIM. I LOVE THE CAR JUST THINK THIS IS DANGEROUS.
DURING HEAVY ACCELERATION A HEAVY EXHAUST SMELL TAKES OVER THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL FORD COMPANY 3 TIMES TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE, AND IT STILL HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. MY VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW--NO PREVIOUS OWNERS. AS I DRIVE AND ACCELERATE NOW, I HAVE TO LET DOWN THE WINDOWS OF THE VEHICLE TO GET FRESH AIR IN THE VECHILE, AS I AM WORRIED CARBON MONOXIDE MAY BE LEAKING IN WITH THE EXHAUST SMELL.
I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW FROM TED BRITT FORD IN FAIRFAX VIRGINIA, IN DEC 2014. SINCE THEN MY VEHICLE HAS A SULFUR ODOR WHEN ACCELERATING HARD. ALSO, I HAVE BEEN HAVING MEDICAL ISSUES SUCH AS HEAD ACHES SINCE MAY 2015. I THINK THEY MAY HAVE SOMETHING DO WITH THE EXHAUST ON THE CAR.
EXHAUST VAPORS ENTER THE CABIN. THIS USUALLY OCCURS WHEN UNDER ACCELERATION SUCH AS PASSING; CLIMBING A GRADE OR MERGING ONTO A FREEWAY. THE FREQUENCY HAS BEEN INCREASING. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER COULD NOT HELP. I WAS TOLD BY FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT IT ONLY AFFECTS POLICE EXPLORERS. THIS IS NOT TRUE, UNLESS MY VEHICLE WAS ORIGINALLY INTENDED TO GO TO A POLICE FORCE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH OR ABOVE, THE ODOR OF EXHAUST FUMES EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT AN UNKNOWN VALVE RELATED TO THE AIR CONDITIONER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FUMES CAUSED HEAD ACHES THAT DID NOT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500.
UPON STARTING VEHICLE STEERING SYSTEM WAS UNRESPONSIVE AND A WARNING NOTICE "SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK" APPEARED ON DASH. DEALER HAD VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE MALFUNCTION. RETURNED WITHOUT REPAIR. FAULT RECURRED AFTER APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK AND DEALER AGAIN COULD NOT DUPLICATE FAULT. REPLACED ONE ELEMENT OF ELECTRONIC STEERING SYSTEM AND RETURNED VEHICLE AS REPAIRED. FAULT RECURRED A THIRD TIME AND A DIFFERENT DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPLACED A SECOND ELEMENT OF THE ELECTRONIC STEERING SYSTEM AND CLAIMED ISSUE WAS RESOLVED. FAULT CONTINUES TO RECUR WITHOUT NOTICE AND VEHICLE IS UNRELIABLE. PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BUT RESPONSE HAS BEEN VERY LIMITED.
MY 2015 FORD EXPLORER HAS HAD A FOUL SMELL WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER AND HEAT TURNED ON BUT MAINLY THE AIR CONDITIONER.WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR LONGER THEN 20 MINUTES ANYONE WHO IS IN THE VEHICLE EITHER GETS A HEADACHE OR BECOMES NAUSEOUS. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS MY 2 YOUNG CHILDREN HAVE EVEN VOMITTED IN THE VEHICLE. AFTER READING ABOUT THIS CARBON MONOXIDE ISSUE I AM APPALLED THAT I EVEN HAVE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE LONGER. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE FOR FORD TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.
THE EXHAUST LEAKING INTO THE CAR IT TERRIBLE, IT'S GIVING ME HEADACHES AND MAKING ME FEEL SICK. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2015 BUT I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN EXCELERATING AT ANY SPEED. TAKING OFF FROM A STOP LIGHT OR ENTERING A HIGHWAY.
EXHAUST GAS FUMES COME INTO THE INSIDE CABIN WHILE DRIVING, MOSTLY FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIR CONDITIONING OR HEATER IS ON AND THE RECIRCULATION FAN CAN BE EITHER ON OR OFF. FAILURE MODE CAN BE ON FLAT SURFACE BUT MOSTLY OCCURS GOING UP AND DOWN HILLS. NOT SURE IF THE DECELLERATION OF THE VEHICLE IS PART OF THE CAUSE. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT, MAY NOT OCCUR FOR WEEKS AND THEN MIGHT OCCUR 3-4 TIMES IN A DAY ONE SPECIFIC EXAMPLE IS ON NOVEMBER 30, 2015, AT 2:30 PM HVAC SYSTEM IS SET TO HEAT, SET TO 73 DEGREES HEAT IN DUAL TEMP CONTROL IS ON, RECIRCULATION IS ON, ELEVATION IS 3100 FEET, GOING UPHILL ON CATRON BLVD TOWARDS HIGHWAY 16 IN RAPID CITY, SD,(OUTSKIRTS OF TOWN), DECELERATED FROM 50 TO 40 MPH AT 40MPH SPEED LIMIT SIGN, SEVERAL VEHICLES AROUND US, ODOMETER READING WAS 5482.5 MILES, AND SMELLED EXHAUST FUMES IN THE CABIN THAT APPEARED TO COME FROM THE REAR OF THE CABIN, HAD TO OPEN BOTH FRONT WINDOWS FOR ABOUT A MINUTE TO GET THE SMELL OUT.
VEHICLE CABIN IS FILLED WITH A ROTTEN EGG/SULFUR SMELL UPON ACCELERATION WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING RUNNING. THE HEATING/AC SYSTEM IS NORMALLY IN THE "AUTO" MODE. NOT NOTICED MUCH IN THE WINTER BECAUSE I LIVE IN MICHIGAN, BUT THE REST OF THE YEAR IT IS NOTICED EVERY TIME I PASS A VEHICLE OR ENTER THE FREEWAY. HAD IT TO THE DEALER AND MY CONCERN WAS VERIFIED, BUT I WAS TOLD THERE IS NO FIX YET. SEEMS THEY ARE WAITING FOR A RECALL. I HAVE REAL CONCERNS ABOUT MY HEALTH AND THE HEALTH OF THOSE THAT RIDE WITH ME. I SENT A COMPLAINT TO FORD AND RECEIVED A "THANK YOU", THATS ALL. OCCASIONAL EXHAUST/SULFUR SMELL INSIDE VEHICLE CABIN DURING HIGHWAY ACCELERATION OR UNDER HEAVY LOAD SUCH AS TOWING TRAILER.. FIRST NOTICED IN 05/2017 AND CONTINUES TO THE PRESENT DAY. INITIAL COMPLAINT TO DEALER WHO INDICATED IT WAS NORMAL 'NEW' ENGINE SMELL THAT WOULD DISAPPEAR OVER TIME AND LATER CONVERSATIONS INDICATED 'UNABLE TO DUPLICATE', PLUS I FOUND LATER THAT APPARENTLY THERE WAS NO DOCUMENTATION IN THE VEHICLE SERVICE RECORDS REGARDING ANY COMPLAINTS.
TL* THE CONTACT DROVE A 2015 FORD EXPLORER (CORPORATE VEHICLE). WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER ACTIVATED, A STRONG ODOR OF SULFUR WAS NOTICED INSIDE THE VEHICLE, WHICH GAVE THE CONTACT A HEADACHE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED FOR HER SAFETY AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SOUTH BAY FORD (LOCATED AT 5100 W ROSECRANS AVE, HAWTHORNE, CA 90250). THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST WAS LEAKING AND, SINCE THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ON, IT CREATED A VACUUM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT UNLESS SHE DROVE WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN, THE EXHAUST ODOR WOULD CIRCULATE THROUGH THE AIR VENTS INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,167.

WHEN THE CAR IS ACCELERATING THERE IS AN EXHAUST ODER THAT EMITS THROUGH THE AIR VENTS. POSSIBLE CO2 EMISSION BEING PICK UP THROUGH THE VENTS. THIS CAR HAS BEEN SENT TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER HAS CONFIRMED THE REAR VENTS ARE PICKING UP THE EXHAUST FUMES.

WE BOUGHT A 2015 FORD EXPLORER IN APRIL OF 2015. ONE WEEK AFTER WE HAD THE TRUCK WE WERE NOTICING A NASTY ROTTEN EGG SMELL EVERY TIME WE WOULD DRIVE IT. WE WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT. THE SERVICE MANAGER DROVE THE TRUCK AND SAID THAT IT WAS THE NEW SMELL BURNING OFF THE EXHAUST. HERE WE ARE 2 YEARS LATER AND WE ARE STILL SMELLING THE SAME NASTY SMELL. WE DON'T DRIVE VERY FAR IN THE TRUCK BECAUSE WE LIVE VERY CLOSE TO EVERYTHING. SO WE TOOK THE VEHICLE ON A LONG OUT OF STATE TRIP AND COULD NOT STAY AWAKE AND HAD SEVERE HEADACHES. AT ONE POINT ON THE TRIP WE THOUGHT OUR 18 YEAR OLD CAT HAD DIED BECAUSE WE COULD NOT WAKE HER UP. THIS IS MY 2ND UPDATED COMPLAINT ON CARBON MONOXIDE ENTERING OUR VEHICLE. AFTER FORD DENYING THAT CARBON MONOXIDE IS NOT ENTERING THE CIVILIAN FORD EXPLORERS, WE PURCHASED A PYLE (PCMM05) LOW LEVEL CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR. IT REGISTERS CARBON MONOXIDE LEVELS STARTING AT O PPM. WE PUT THE DETECTOR IN OUR VEHICLE, STARTED IT AND DID NOT MOVE THE VEHICLE AND THE DETECTOR IMMEDIATELY JUMPED TO 5. AFTER THAT WE DROVE THE VEHICLE IN CITY TRAFFIC AND THE DETECTOR THEN JUMPED BACK AND FORTH FROM 10 TO 14 PPM. AFTER THAT WE GOT ON THE INTERSTATE AND DROVE 70 TO 75 AND THE DETECTOR RANGED FROM 23PPM TO 64PPM IN ONLY A 30 MINUTE PERIOD. WE SPENT A TOTAL OF ONLY 2 HOURS IN OUR SUV DOING THIS TESTING. AFTER THAT WE RETURNED HOME AND WERE SICK WITH HEADACHES, NAUSEA, VOMITTING, CHEST PAINS, AND JUST FEELING SICK FOR 6 DAYS. WE ARE CURRENTLY NOT DRIVING THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF ALL OF THESE ISSUES THAT WE HAVE PROVEN WITH OUR OWN CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR. SO IF FORD THINKS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH OUR VEHICLE, PLEASE BUY IT BACK AND PUT YOUR FAMILY IN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE ENGINEERING ANALYSIS THAT THE NHTSA WAS DOING? WHAT ARE THE RESULTS FROM THOSE FINDINGS? CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLDS!
