FORCE FORD TO BUY BACK, NO RECALL, ALL OF THE 2011 TO 2017 FORD EXPLORERS. STOP PROTECTING THEM FROM THE CARBON MONOXIDE PROBLEMS, BECAUSE OF THE CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLDS THAT ARE LEAKING CARBON MONOXIDE INTO THE CABINS OF ALL THESE VEHICLES. FORD KNOWS WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE DEFECTIVE VEHICLES BUT DOES NOT WANT TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO THE RIGHT THING. FORD NEEDS TO STOP STEALING MONEY FROM EVERYONE WHO IS BUYING THESE VEHICLES AND YOU CAN'T EVEN DRIVE THEM. WE ARE GETTING NOTHING IN RETURN FOR OUR MONEY AND NOW WE CAN'T EVEN GIVE THEM AWAY BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO VALUE! WHAT A CIRCUS THIS HAS BECOME, EVEN WITH ALL OF THE PUBLICITY, FORD IS STILL LYING TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. FORD SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET AWAY WITH DOING THIS TO PEOPLE! WE OWN A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WE HAVE MADE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE. THIS IS NOT SOLVING ANYTHING. IT IS TIME THAT FORD HAS TO BUY ALL OF THESE VEHICLES BACK. OBVIOUSLY THEY CANNOT BE FIXED. FORD HAS BEEN KNOWING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SINCE 2011. NOW THE FORD ENGINEERS ARE GOING OUT TO INSPECT THESE VEHICLES. THIS IS DISGUSTING WHAT FORD IS DOING TO PEOPLE THAT ARE STUCK PAYING FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS LIKE DRIVING A ROLLING GAS CHAMBER!
SINCE WE TOOK POSSESSION OF OUR 2015 FORD EXPLORER WE HAVE HAD IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP MORE THAN ANY OTHER VEHICLE WE HAVE EVER OWNED. THE SMELL FROM EXHAUST IS HORRIBLE. IN JUST OVER A YEAR OF OWNERSHIP WE HAVE HAD IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS PROBLEM NUMEROUS TIMES AND IS STILL AS BAD IF NOT WORSE THAN WHEN WE STARTED SMELLING IT. THEY TRIED EVERYTHING THAT FORD TOLD THEM TO DO AND THEN THEY (THE DEALERSHIP) TRIED FIXES ON THEIR OWN OUT OF THEIR OWN POCKET AND THEY STILL CAN NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM. WE SMELL EXHAUST FUMES FILL UP THE ENTIRE VEHICLE NOT ONLY ACCELERATING BUT DRIVING JUST NORMALLY SOMETIMES AND IT GETS SO BAD THAT WE HAVE HAD TO OPEN ALL THE WINDOWS AND EVEN PULL THE VEHICLE OVER AND OPEN ALL THE DOORS JUST TO AIR OUT OUR VEHICLE. WE CONTACTED FORD DIRECTLY ONE TIME ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THEY TOLD US THAT THEY WERE UNAWARE OF ANY EXHAUST PROBLEMS REGARDING THE 2015 FORD EXPLORER AND AS FAR AS THEY WERE CONCERNED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. IT IS ABOUT TO GO BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM AND THE DEALERSHIP IS ON OUR SIDE AS THEY HAVE SMELLED IT NUMEROUS TIMES THEMSELVES AND THEY STILL CAN NOT FIX IT DESPITE GOING OVER THE ENTIRE VEHICLE NUMEROUS TIMES. WE HAVE 3 CHILDREN AND ALL WE WANT IS A SAFE VEHICLE AND FORD CAN NOT GIVE THAT TO US. WE ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH FORD OVER THIS WHOLE THING.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VENTILATION CABINS NEEDED TO BE RESEALED AND THE VENTS NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT APPLIED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WITH FORCE AND SMELLED AN EXHAUST ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (BILL UTTER FORD LOCATED AT 4901 S INTERSTATE 35 E, DENTON, TX 76210; (940) 321-7400) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. THE REPAIR SPECIFICS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL OTHER TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-392-3673 AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2015 FORD EXPLORER XLT, 3.5 V6, IN NOVEMBER 2014. AT APPROXIMATELY 7,000 MILES (BEGINNING IN APRIL 2015) I STARTED TO NOTICE A ROTTEN EGG ODOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE DURING ACCELERATION, WHILE ENTERING THE FREEWAY. THE SMELL WOULD OCCUR ESPECIALLY DURING A HARD ACCELERATION. THE SMELL WAS NOTICEABLE WHILE THE A/C SYSTEM WAS ON "VENT" AND "RECIRCULATE" MODE. ON 7/6/2015 I TOOK THE EXPLORER TO MY FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE COMPLAINT AND STATED THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN 14-130 TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THEIR DESCRIPTION ON THE FIX, WAS THAT A SPECIAL AIR-FILTER LOCATED INSIDE THE REAR BUMPER AREA NEEDED TO BE REPLACE. THEY STATED THAT THE SMELL IS COMING FROM MY EVAP-CANISTER. I LEFT THE EXPLORER THERE FOR THE REPAIR AND IT TOOK THEM ALMOST TWO DAYS. THEY SAID, IT WAS AT LEAST A FULL DAYS LABOR TO FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY HAD TO REMOVE THE WHOLE REAR BUMPER AND OTHER PARTS, ETC. AFTER THE REPAIR WAS MADE, A WEEK LATER, I WAS ABLE TO TAKE THE EXPLORER ON THE FREEWAY AND STILL NOTICED THE ROTTEN EGG ODOR DURING ACCELERATION. THIS TIME THE ODOR IS ONLY NOTICEABLE DURING "VENT" MODE WHEN THE A/C IS TURNED ON. I AM CONTACTING MY DEALER TODAY ABOUT THIS. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH OTHER FORD OWNERS BECAUSE THESE "FUMES" IN THE CABIN AREA MOST LIKELY ARE AFFECTING YOUR HEALTH AND OTHER PASSENGERS. UPDATED 12/06/2017*CN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL ODOR IN THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45-65 MPH. THE FAILURE HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WERE APPROXIMATELY 20 HOLES THAT NEEDED TO BE RESEALED. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VENTILATION CABIN NEEDED TO BE RESEALED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. DRIVING HOME UP A HILL WITH A NEWLY PURCHASED 2015 FORD EXPLORER MY WIFE AND I NOTICED A BAD SMELL LIKE EXHAUST FUMES; WE PUT THIS DOWN TO THE NEW ENGINE/EXHAUST BURNING OFF ANY FACTORY GREASE ETC. SUBSEQUENT TRIPS WITH ALL OF MY FAMILY IN THE SUV WE ALL EXPERIENCED A FOUL EXHAUST AND SULFUR SMELL WHEN GOING UP A HILL OR ACCELERATING ABOVE 3K RPM; THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES IN FRONT OF US TO BLAME FOR THE ODOR. WE HAVE TAKEN THE SUV TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES NOW AND THEY IN CONJUCTION WITH FORD TECHNICAL SUPPORT CANNOT FIND THE ROOT CAUSE. THEY HAVE REPLACED/ INSTALLED: EGR VALVE COVER (TECH BULLETIN), BOTH EXHAUST DOWN PIPES, FRONT TRANSFER CASE. THE DEALER HAS NO TEST EQUIPMENT TO FIND THE PROBLEM OR CONFIRM WE ARE SMELLING ENGINE EXHAUST CONTAINING TOXIC GASES INCLUDING CO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINE ON THE FRONT PASSENGER AND FRONT DRIVER SIDE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT BRAKE LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE LINES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
PURCHASED IN EARLY 2015, VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS HAD VERY FOUL EXHAUST ODOR IN CABIN WHEN ACCELERATING OR ENGINE UNDER LOAD. DRIVER ALSO NOTED TO BECOME DIZZY AND NAUSEOUS WHEN AC SET ON RECIRCULATE FOR GREATER THAN 20 MINUTES. THIS PROBLEM HAS NEVER BEEN RESOLVED AND REPLICATES EASILY.
I HAVE NOTICED THIS SMELL SOME SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, BUT IT HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. UPON HEAVY ACCELERATION (SUCH AS MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY), THERE IS A VERY STRONG BURNING SMELL THAT TAKES OVER THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE SMELL SEEMS TO BE EXHAUST COMING INTO THE VEHICLE. I HAVE NOTICED AN INCREASE IN "SLEEPY DRIVING", OR GETTING SLEEPY EVEN IF IT IS JUST ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. IN JULY 2016 I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO BE FIXED, HOWEVER, THE FIX DID NOT WORK. THIS MORNING I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR MORE REPAIRS. I HAVE A YOUNG CHILD, AND THESE FUMES COMING INTO THE VEHICLE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF IMMEDIATELY. FORD NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING, OR PROVIDE A MAJOR DISCOUNT TOWARDS A NEW VERSION THAT DOESN'T HAVE THIS DEFECT. I FINALLY GOT THE VEHICLE I WANTED, AND I CAN'T DRIVE IT BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. I PURCHASED THE 2015 FORD EXPLORER IN LATE MARCH 2015. ALTHOUGH THE SMELL WAS THERE FROM THE BEGINNING IT WAS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHENEVER IT FEELS LIKE IT. IT OCCURS WITH THE A/C OFF, WHILE DRIVING AT A STEADY SPEED, AND UPON ACCELERATION. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO BRANDON FORD FOR SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM, WHICH THEY HAD NO IDEA IT EVEN EXISTED. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO FIX THE EXHAUST/CARBON MONOXIDE FORD IS TELLING ME THEY HAVE A REPORT THAT A FIELD ENGINEER HAS DEEMED THE FUMES/POISON ENTERING THE CAB "A NORMAL OCCURRENCE" AND THEY WILL NO LONGER PUT IT IN SERVICE. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN APRIL OF 2015. A MONTH OR TWO IN I NOTICED WHEN ACCELERATING AND/OR RUNNING AIR CONDITIONING EXHAUST TYPE SMELL/FUMES FILL CABIN. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TWICE TO DEALERSHIP (BATES FORD OF LEBANON TN) BUT THEY SEEMED OBLIVIOUS AND ADVISED NOTHING WAS WRONG. I HAVE EXPERIENCED DIZZINESS AND HEADACHES AND FEARFUL TO DRIVE IT. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RECALL NOTICES AND THIS IS VERY WORRISOME! I PAID OVER $30,000 AND AM STILL FINANCING IT AND DO NOT WANT THIS VEHICLE! MY FAMILY IS AT RISK! PLEASE HELP!
BOUGHT VEHICLE BRAND NEW AT THE END OF MARCH 2015 AND IT SMELLS LIKE ROTTEN EGGS WHEN ACCELERATING OR CLIMBING A HILL AND HAS SINCE I BOUGHT IT.
THERE IS A REPORTED ISSUE ABOUT AN EXHAUST LEAK INSIDE CABIN FOR FORD EXPLORER 2011+ AND I FOUND A SOLUTION FOR THIS ISSUE. I TRIED TO REPORT THIS TO FORD BUT THERE IS NO LUCK, AND FORD IGNORED ME. THE ISSUE IS NOT FROM THE BACK DOOR OR BACK OF THE VEHICLE, IT'S ACTUALLY FROM THE FRONT. THERE IS TWO ISSUES ACTUALLY WHO CAUSING THIS, ONE IS THE HOOD RUBBER THAT LOCATED NEAR TO FRESH AIR INTAKE, I FILLED A SILICON ALL OVER UNDERNEATH THE RUBBER AND THE ISSUE ALMOST GONE 92%, A ALSO COVERED THE FRESH AIR INTAKE WITH DUCT TAPE AND IT'S COMPLETELY GONE, BUT THE DUCT TAPE IS NOT THE SOLUTION. THE OTHER ISSUE IS THERE IS A LEAK FROM THE ENGINE SIDE WHICH CAUSING THE EXHAUST TO FILL THE ENGINE BAY AND THE SMELL FINDS A WAY TO LEAK INSIDE CABIN THROUGH FRESH AIR INTAKE FROM THE FRONT. SINCE A ALOT OF FORD EXPLORERS HAS BEEN REPORTED THEY HAVE A CRACKED MANIFOLD THIS EXPLAIN WHY THIS HAPPENING. SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE I'VE EXPERIENCED A SMELL THAT I DESCRIBED AS BURNT FIREWORKS. I THOUGHT MAYBE THAT IT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS A TURBO CAR AND I'VE NEVER OWNED ONE PRIOR. I'VE HAD IT IN FOR THIS ISSUE ALREADY WHERE THEY REPLACED THE SEALS BUT I'M STILL SMELLING IT. I'VE ALSO HAD MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE WHEN THE CABIN BEGAN FILLING WITH SMOKE VIA THE REAR AC VENTS. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A COOLANT LINE ABOVE THE EXHAUST THAT WASN'T TIGHTENED AT THE FACTORY. WHEN IT BAGAN TO LEAK, THE STEAM ROSE UP INTO THE CABIN. THERE'S CLEARLY A LEAK SOMEHOW IF THE STEAM FROM THE REAR OF MY VEHICLE GETS INTO THE CABIN. I'VE CONTACTED FORD NUMEROUS TIMES BUT THEY CONTINUE TO SAY THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. I HAVE HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BECAUSE I BECAME LIGHTHEADED. THIS ISN'T RIGHT.
YOU CAN SMELL THE EXHAUST INSIDE THE CABIN WHILE DRIVING. IT IS NOTICEABLE WHEN YOU HAVE TO HIT THE GAS TO SPEED UP TO GO AROUND A VEHICLE OR GETTING ONTO THE INTERSTATE. AFTER HEARING ON THE NEWS ABOUT THE POLICE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE, I WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT MY COMPLAINT HAS BEEN NOTED. I WILL BE PURCHASING A CO2 DETECTOR AND PLACING IT INSIDE MY VEHICLE WHERE MY 3 YEAR OLD AND 7 MONTH OLD SIT. THERE SAFETY IS TOP PRIORITY AND HOPE A RECALL IS COMING SOON. WE BOUGHT OUR EXPLORER FEBRUARY 2015 AND WHEN I EXCELERATE THERE ARE FUMES THAT COME INSIDE AND SMELLS LIKE EXHAUST AND SOMETHING BURNING. WHEN I TOOK IT IN THEY SAID IT WAS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, BUT IT'S STILL DOING IT A YEAR AND A HALF LATER. TAKING IT BACK AGAIN.
EXHAUST FUMES IN CABIN UPON ACCELERATION
DRIVING HOME THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE LEFT SUDDENLY AT APPROX 30 MPH. TRIED STEERING IT TO THE RIGHT BUT IT WOULD NOT. GOT OUT OF VEHICLE TO SEE THAT THE LEFT FRONT SUSPENSION WAS ON THE GROUND. IT HAD BROKEN AWAY FROM THE CAR WHERE IT HAD BEEN CONNECTED. LUCKILY I WAS NOT HURT JUST SHAKEN UP. IT HAD TO BE PUT ON A TOW TRUCK AND TAKEN TO FORD. *TR
RETURNING HOME FROM CHURCH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I COULD NOT STEER THE CAR. IT WAS VEERING TO THE LEFT AND I COULD NOT STRAIGHTEN IT UP. THERE WAS A THUD AND DIRT AND DUST AND THE CAR STOPPED. GOT OUT AND THE FRONT LEFT SUSPENSION WAS ON THE GROUND. NO TICKET, NO NOTHING BECAUSE I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING. FORD HAS MADE A DECISION THAT IS WAS NOT A CAR FAILURE. WE ASK FOR THE FINDINGS OF THERE INSPECTIONS AND WAS TOLD THY DID NOT RELEASE THOSE TO THE CUSTOMER. WE REALLY WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEIR REPORT AS I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING AND WANT TO KNOW WHY THIS HAPPENED.
VEHICLE EMITS CARBON MONOXIDE WHEN EXCELERATING. WHEN VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED WE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS SMELL INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THIS ISSUE HOWEVER THE PROBLEM REMAINED. WHEN WE CALLED AGAIN TO VOICE FRUSTRATION, DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO ABOUT THIS. RECEIVED NOTICE FROM FORD MOTOR CORP JANUARY 2019 INDICATING THEY ARE AWARE THAT SOME OWNERS HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT EXHAUST OR CARBON MONOXIDE AND THAT THESE VEHICLES ARE SAFE HOWEVER FORD IS OFFERING A NO CHARGE SERVICE THAT REDUCES THE POTENTIAL FOR EXHAUST TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. WE HAVE SINCE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN FOR THIS SERVICE HOWEVER, THE EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE STILL EXIST. MY WIFE DRIVES THIS VEHICLE DAILY TO WORK 25 MILES EACH WAY AND HAS BECOME FREQUENTLY ILL DUE TO THIS VEHICLE. HEADACHES AND NAUSEA AND AN INCREASE OF HER BLOOD PRESSURE. PLEASE ADVISE IF THERE ARE ANY REMEDIES GOING FORWARD AS WE ARE AFRAID TO CONTINUE DRIVING THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE
I HAVE NOTICED SINCE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW A STRONG ODOR COMING FROM THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WHEN YOU DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR TO MAX WHEN PASSING A CAR OR ENTERING AN ON RAMP. I HAVE TRIED WITH BOTH THE FRESH AIR ON AND RECIRCULATE ON, THE SAME EFFECT IS NOTICED. FINALLY AFTER DEALING WITH THIS FOR ABOUT A YEAR I BROUGHT IT UP TO MY DEALER WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN FOR ITS ROUTINE SERVICE. THE SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED ME HE HAS A 2016 EXPLORER WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT FORD CAME BACK WITH SOMETHING ABOUT VENTS NOT OPENING QUICK ENOUGH AT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. TO HIS KNOWLEDGE, THERE WAS NO FIX FROM FORD AS OF YET. THE SMELL DOES GET QUITE STRONG AND ROUTINELY THE WINDOWS NEED TO BE LOWERED TO PREVENT THE STRONG ODORS FROM LINGERING. I AM CONCERNED AS TO WHAT THE ODOR IS, POSSIBLY HARMFUL EMISSIONS THAT COULD AFFECT MYSELF AND MY PASSENGERS? I OWN A 2015 FORD EXPLORER AND HAVE COMPLAINED NUMEROUS TIMES TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE SMELL OF TOXIC GAS SMELL OR ROTTEN EGG SMELL UPON ACCELERATION. THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT HAVE NOT FIX FOR IT. I FILED A CLAIM WITH AUTONATION FORD A FEW MONTHS BACK AND LEFT SEVERAL MESSAGES, AS INSTRUCTED, FOR THE SERVICE MANAGER OF THE DEALERSHIP AND HAVE GOTTEN NOWHERE. HE DOES NOT RETURN MY CALL. I HAVE CHILDREN THAT SIT IN MY CAR AND I KNOW IT IS NOT SAFE. UPON RESEARCH IT IS THE RELEASE OF CARBON MONOXIDE AND COMING THROUGH THE VENTS. I NEED HELP ON THIS MATTER BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO EVEN DRIVE IT. IT STARTED IN 2015 AND CONTINUES

ON THE WAY BACK FROM ARE HR TRIP WITH TEMPS STILL IN THE 80'S THE CO LEVEL WAS @ 183. IF YOU LOOK AT THE CPSC.GOV WEBSITE YOU CAN SEE THAT @ THE LEVELS OF 150-220 IT WILL CAUSE DISORIENTATION / UNCONSCIOUSNESS & DEATH!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM GOING INTO THE 5TH MONTH OF LEASING MY 2015 FORD EXPLORER AND I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THIS VEHICLE. CURRENTLY THE ODOMETER READS 2,100 MILES AND THEY WERE NOT ENJOYABLE MILES. I HAVE TO SAY THAT THIS 2015 EXPLORER HAS THE WORST DESIGN ON THE INSIDE THAT I'VE EVER SEEN. THE OUTWARD VISIBILITY FROM THE DRIVER'S SEAT FOR THE FRONT AND REAR OF THIS VEHICLE IS SEVERELY COMPROMISED BY THE HUGE C PILLARS WHICH CREATE BLIND SPOTS WITHIN THE VEHICLE. ALTHOUGH THIS MODEL HAS BLIS, I'VE ALMOST BEEN IN 2 COLLISIONS BECAUSE I CANNOT SEE MY RIGHT SIDE REAR OR LEFT SIDE REAR DUE TO THE FAULTY DESIGN OF THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE BLIS SYSTEM DID NOT WARN ME THAT THERE WAS A TRACTOR TRAILER APPROACHING ME ON THE LEFT SIDE. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT THE DEALER CANNOT REMEDY. THIS IS A FACTORY DESIGN FLAW THAT IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE THE DRIVER CAN'T SEE WHAT'S COMING. THE BLIS IS USELESS. NAVIGATING THROUGH TIGHT SPACES IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE YOU CANNOT SEE THE FRONT END TO JUDGE YOUR DISTANCE BETWEEN VEHICLES/OBJECTS AND THE WIDE FRONT PILLARS ALSO ADD TO THE FRUSTRATION OF TRYING TO SEE WHAT'S ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE BLOWER MOTOR FOR THE HEATING/AC SYSTEM JUST TURNS OFF AS WELL AS THE DASHBOARD CLUSTER LIGHTS AND THEN COMES BACK ON AFTER 10 - 15 SECONDS. THIS HAS OCCURRED A FEW TIMES. THERE IS A BURNING SMELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE UPON START UP. NOT SURE IF IT'S EXHAUST GAS ENTERING THE VEHICLE OR IF IT'S SOMETHING IN THE HEATER/AC SYSTEM. (I WAS TOLD AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND WILL DISSIPATE AFTER A FEW THOUSAND MILES). NOT THE ANSWER THAT I WANTED TO HEAR. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS POSTED AT 60, 65 MPH, ETC ON OPEN HIGHWAYS THERE IS A VERY LOUD NOISE ACROSS FRONT WINDSHIELD. CANNOT OPERATE THE RADIO UNLESS VOLUME IS SO HIGH THAT CANNOT TALK OR HEAR. CONCERN THAT WINDSHIELD MAY NOT BE SEALED PROPERLY.
SINCE LEASING THIS CAR NEW IN 2015, WE HAVE EXPERIENCED ON MANY OCCASIONS, ESPECIALLY AFTER ACCELERATION, A STRONG EXHAUST SMELL ENTER THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE. BEING AN AUTOMOTIVE INSTRUCTOR,I WAS ABLE TO ACCESS TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS REGARDING THIS ISSUE BUT THEY WERE RELATED TO MODIFICATIONS TO THE REAR AIR CONDITIONING UNIT. WE EXPERIENCED THE SMELL EVEN WITH THE AC OFF. DURING OUR DAY-TO-DAY COMMUTES TO WORK/SCHOOL/HOME, WE DO NOT NOTICE IT. WE HAVE THREE KIDS..THIS CAN'T HAPPEN! I WAS DRIVING YESTERDAY AND A MESSAGE POPPED UP "TERRAIN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FAULT" AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, A CHECK BRAKES MESSAGE SHOWED, LEAVING THE BRAKE INDICATOR, ABS MESSAGE SAYING IT IS OFF AND AN "AWD OFF" MESSAGE. THIS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY EVEN AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF FOR HOURS AND RESTARTING. PICTURES WERE TAKEN OF THE MESSAGES AND IT WAS DROPPED AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY ORIGINALLY THOUGHT IT WAS A BAD ABS SENSOR, BUT UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, SOMETHING IS REALLY WRONG IN THE COMPUTER AND SOME OTHER MODULES, THEY DID NOT EVEN GIVE US A TIME FRAME FOR COMPLETION. THIS IS NEXT YEARS MODEL AND WE HAVE ONLY OWNED IT FOR 1 MONTH, NOT A GOOD SIGN. NOT SURE IF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE, BUT THEY MIGHT SOON. THE DEALERSHIP WOULD ALSO NOT SAY IF IT WAS/IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WITH ALL OF THE ERRORS POPPING UP. *TR
DURING MODERATE TO HEAVY ACCELERATION, SULFUR-LIKE EXHAUST FUMES ENTER THE CABIN THROUGH THE A/C VENTS CAUSING AN UNBEARABLE SMELL. TSBS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED, INCLUDING A NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM, WITH NO POSITIVE RESULTS. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. I AM CONVINCED IT IS DIRECTLY ASSOCIATED WITH A/C CONTROL UNIT AND THE 3.5L ENGINE. ECO-BOOSTS DO NOT PRODUCE THE SMELL. I EVEN ASKED A POLICE OFFICER ABOUT HIS UNIT, AND NO COMPLAINTS. THEY DRIVE ECO-BOOST ENGINES.

I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE VEHICLE IN THE FORD SHOP TWICE WITH THIS PROBLEM AND A TSB WAS PERFORMED WITH NO IMPROVEMENTS. FORD CRC STATED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE HEAT/AC ALWAYS ON TO PRESSURIZE THE CABIN TO KEEP FUMES FROM COMING IN. THE OWNERS MANUAL STATES IF YOU SMELL EXHAUST FUMES IN THE CABIN, DO NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE. FORD HAS NO ANSWER TO THIS ISSUE. *TR

WINDOWS MUST BE OPENED TO GET RID OF THE SMELL. THIS OCCURS PRIMARILY WHEN AIR CONDITIONER IS ON, BUT HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN AC OFF. VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO DEALER FOR THIS PROBLEM AND TSB-14-0130 PERFORMED, HOWEVER, PROBLEM STILL OCCURS ALTHOUGH LESS FREQUENTLY AND ODOR NOT AS STRONG.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
HORRIBLE ROTTEN EGG, BURNING SMELL WHEN ACCELERATING IN THE CABIN. HAVE TAKEN IT IN 3 TIMES AND THEY TELL ME IT WILL BURN OFF BETWEEN 10-15000 MILES. MY NEW 2015 FORD EXPLORER XLT PRODUCES A VERY STRONG EXHAUST/SULFER SMELL INSIDE THE PASSENGER CABIN. THE SMELL IS VERY STRONG WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RAPIDLY ACCELERATED. THE DEALERSHIP HAS VERIFIED THE PROBLEM AND ATTEMPTED TO FIX IT SIX DIFFERENT TIMES. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS, BUT NONE OF THESE REPAIRS HAVE REDUCED THE STRONG ODOR AND NOXIOUS FUMES INSIDE THE CABIN.

I HAVE A SMALL CHILD AND WORRY ABOUT HIS HEALTH AND HOW IT IS AFFECTING HIM. SOMEONE REALLY NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE. BUYERS BEWARE...I WILL LOSE MONEY IF I HAVE TO TRADE THIS VEHICLE. THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU PURCHASE AN EXPLORER.
2015 FORD EXPLORER -- SMELLING EXHAUST ODORS INSIDE THE CAR WHEN ACCELERATING OVER 3,000RPM, USUALLY WHEN MERGING THRU INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS OR EXPRESSWAYS, DRIVING OVER 75MPH OR GOING UPHILL. IT HAPPENS WITH THE A/C MODE IN "RECIRCULATION" OR NOT. I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW ON JULY 2014. I REPORTED THE ISSUE AT LEAST FOUR (4) TO SIX (6) WITH THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT, AND THEY ATTEMPTED WITH THE HELP OF FORD ENGINEERS TO FIX IT WITH INSTRUCTIONS FROM TSB 14-0130 BUT IT DOESN'T SEEM TO HELP. ON TWO (2) SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THEY HAD TO GIVE ME A RENTAL CAR FOR TWO (2) WEEKS BECAUSE THEY WERE TROUBLESHOOTING AND ATTEMPTING TO FIX IT. I HAVE ALSO ATTACHED A LETTER FROM THE DEALERSHIP STATING THEIR INTEREST IN PURCHASING THE CAR BUT I DON'T KNOW IF IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE DEFECTS BUT I FIND IT VERY INTERESTING.
I CAN SMELL GAS FUMES IN THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR WHEN DRIVING. SOMETIMES THE ODOR IS MORE WHEN I ACCELERATE. THE SMELL ISN'T THERE ALL THE TIME, BUT IS PRETTY STRONG WHEN IT IS PRESENT. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES -- EVER SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR. WE BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2014.
