MY LOW MILAGE, EXTRA CLEAN 1994 FORD F-150 2WD TRUCK SUDDENLY LURCHED TO THE SIDE. UPON INVESTIGATION ,I DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR SPRING SHACKLES HAD COMPLETELY ROTTED OFF ONE SIDE AND HALF OF THE OTHER. THE STEEL WAS PAPER THIN AND SEPARATED IN LAYERS. THE LEAF SPRING DAMAGED THE BED AS IT WAS THE ONLY THING HOLDING IT DOWN . NEW SHACKLES HAD TO BE ORDERED AS THEY ARE NOT A STOCKED ITEM. OTHER PARTS OF THE FRAME AND RELATED ITEMS SHOW THE SAME DEGRIDATION. FRAGMENTS AVAILABLE.
I OWN A 1994 FORD F-150. THE OIL PAN GASKET FAILED AND THE OIL PAN HAS RUSTED THRU. THIS CAUSES OIL TO SPLASH ONTO THE EXHAUST, SMOKE AND POSSIBLY CATCH FIRE WHILE POLLUTING THE ENVIRONMENT. EVERYONE I HAVE TALKED WITH, WHO DRIVES A 1992 TO 1996 F-150 HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AND CHECK OUT WWW.FORD-TRUCKS.COM WERE YOU WILL FIND HUNDREDS OF F-150 OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM (SEARCH F-150 OIL PAN). I CALLED SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS IN MY AREA FOR AN ESTIMATE ON THIS REPAIR. EACH AND EVERY DEALER STATED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE F-150S WE REPAIR ABOUT THREE A WEEK. ONE DEALERSHIP EVEN TOLD ME FORD OUTSOURCED THESE PARTS AND THEY WERE MANUFACTURED FROM FOREIGN STEEL THATS POROUS AND RUST FROM THE INSIDE OUT. I CONTACTED FORDS CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER THAT STATED THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND BASICALLY TOUGH LUCK. I WOULD CONSIDER IT GENERAL MAINTENANCE, BUT NOT WHEN EVERY F-150 OWNER HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND FORD REPRESENTATIVES TELL ME THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM.*AK
FORD F 150 PICK-UP CAUGHT ON FIRE AT APPROXIMATELY 5:00 A.M., AFTER HAVING BEEN PARKED SINCE 4:30 P.M. THE EVENING BEFORE. IT BURNED COMPLETELY UP BEFORE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EVEN ARRIVED. *TR
PREMATURE FAILURE OF BRACKETS CONNECTING SPRING SHACKLES TO FRAME. 1994 FORD F150. *AK
1994 FORD F150 WITH 65,600 MILES. I AM CERTAIN THAT THE CLOCK SPRING IS BAD WHICH DOES CONTROL THE AIRBAG FEATURE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR REPLACEMENT OR REIMBURSEMENT IF REPLACED BY OWNER ALREADY. I AM AWARE THAT RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM ON OTHER MAKE VEHICLES. I AM ALSO AWARE OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE WENT AND HAD THIS PART REPLACED ON THEIR OWN.
APPARENTLY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE "CLOCKSPRING" IN THE STEERING COLUMN OF THE 1994 FORD F-150. WHEN THIS BREAKS, AS IT APPARENTLY OFTEN DOES, THERE IS AN OPEN CIRCUIT BETWEEN THE AIR BAG & THE SENSORS RENDERING THE AIRBAG INOPERABLE. I HAVE NOT BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE MANUFACTURER YET, ONLY THE DEALER. I JUST WANTED OTHERS TO KNOW OF THIS POTENTIAL HAZARD. I FOUND A FORUM ON A GOOGLE SEARCH ON MY PROBLEM (1994 FORD F-150 FLASHING A CODE 32). WITH PARTS & LABOR THIS IS GOING TO BE APPROXIMATELY $250.00 TO REPAIR. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE, AND MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONSUMER THAT OIL RUSTED FROM INSIDE. ALSO. STEERING WHEEL WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY WHEN MAKING LEFT OR RIGHT TURNS. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING 50-60 MPH CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS IN A HEAD ON COLLISION AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER SUSTAINED SOME INJURIES , MOSTLY WHEN THE IMPACT SNAPPED HIS NECK BACK. HE HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD ON, BECAUSE THE PERSON HE COLLIDED WITH LOST CONTROL OF HER VEHICLE.*AK
I OWN A 1994 FORD F150 TRUCK. THE BOLT THAT HOLDS THE SERPENTINE TENSIONER TO THE BRACKET ON THE ENGINE SNAPPED OFF WHILE I WAS TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY. I LOST TOTAL POWER IN THE BRAKES AND STEERING AS I WAS EXITING ON A SHARP TURN. LATER UPON INSPECTION IT APPEARED THAT THE BOLT ALREADY HAD A FRACTURE IN IT PRIOR TO SNAPPING OFF. I AM TRYING TO FIND THE SPECIFIC BOLT TO ONLY REPLACE IT BECAUSE I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TENSIONER PART. THE MECHANIC THAT IS TRYING TO REPLACE THE BOLT SAID THAT THE PROBLEM WAS MOST LIKELY CAUSED BY THE MANUFACTURER INSTALLATION. NONE OF THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENTS HERE IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS HAD EVER HEARD OF THIS OCCURING AND KEPT ASKING IF I KNEW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT, AND WERE SHOCKED WHEN I SHOWED THEM THE ENTIRE PART WITH BROKEN BOLT AND ALL. I AM FRUSTRATED AT HAVING TO FIND JUST THE BOLT AND FORD HAS SAID I HAD TO BUY THE ENTIRE PART!*AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND WITH NO WARNING CAN STRONGLY SMELL GAS FUMES INSIDE THE VEHICLE. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
TRUCK HAD BEEN PARKED FOR 12 HOURS ON DRIVEWAY. I HAD JUST LEFT MY RESIDENCE AND 10 MINUTES LATER WAS NOTIFIED TRUCK WAS ON FIRE. AS I LEFT I HAD TO BACK PAST THE TRUCK( 2 FEETAWAY) I SAW NO SMOKE OR SMELLED ANYTHING. WHEN I RETURNED TO HOUSE FIRE DEPT WAS PUTTING OUT FIRE. FIRE WAS CONCENTRATED ON LEFT FRONT FENDER JUST ABOVE WHEEL IN THE AREA OF THE POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX. NEIGHBOR ADVISED THE FIRE WAS COMING OUT UNDER LEFT FRONT SIDE ABOVE TIRE ,WHEN HE CALLED FIRE DEPT. THE TRUCK WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDTION. THERE HAD BEEN NO WORK PERFORMED ON VEHICLE.*AK
THE GAS TANK LEAKED GAS ONTO THE BACK TIRE. *NLM
FUEL SPILLS OUT OF FRONT TANK WHEN THE REAR TANK WAS FILLED. MR THE CONSUMER STATED A RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR 1990-1993 MODEL YEAR TRUCKS. *JB RECALL# 93V125000
THE CONSUMER PARKED THE VEHICLE THEN FIVE MINUTES LATER BLACK SMOKE CAME FROM UNDER THE HOOD. *NLM
MY 1994 FORD F-150 IS SPILLING FUEL OUT OF THE FRONT TANK WHEN YOU FILL THE REAR TANK. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND FOUND OUT THERE IS A RECALL ON 1990 THROUGH 1993 TRUCKS WITH DUAL TANKS. THIS RECALL SHOULD INCLUDE THE 1994 TRUCKS ALSO. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. *NLM
COMPLAINT RECEIVED VIA E-MAIL." TRUCK CAUGHT FIRE 3-4 YEARS AGO AND WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS THE CRUISE CONTROL SENSOR ON THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. I NOTICED THE SMOKE COMING FROM MY TRUCK WHICH WAS SITTING NOT RUNNING IN MY DRIVEWAY. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO PUT OUT THE FIRE MYSELF, BUT NOT BEFORE IT DID THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK."

THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. *PH *JB
BOTH FUEL HOLDING TANKS LEAKING AT THE SEEMS; I REPLACED ONE AND DON'T USE THE OTHER. I NOTICED IT'S A CONSISTENT PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE IS ANY MANUFACTURE LIABILITY SO AS TO COMPENSATE. *NM
FORD F150 TRUCK 1994 ENGINE FIRE TRUCK IS EQUIPPED WITH CRUISE CONTROL TRUCK WAS USED AND TURNED OFF. ENGINE FIRE SPONTAEOUSLY STARTED AND CAUSE A TOTAL LOSS OF THE TRUCK FIRE DEPT SAID THEY THOUGHT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. OTHER DAMAGE INCLUDED CONCRETE DRIVEWAY WHICH WAS CHARRED AND PITTED OUT DUE TO THE INTENSE HEAT. ONLY HAD LIABILITY ON THE VECHICLE SO NO INSURANCE CLAIM WAS ABLE TO BE FILED. THIS INCIDENT SOUNDS LIKE THE ONES INVOLVED IN THE FORD F150 RECALLS. I CALLED TO REPORT IT TO INSURANCE FOR SAFETY OF OTHER F150 OWNERS BUT NO ONE WANTED MY INFORMATION. I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE ELSE TO REPORT IT UNTIL I SAW THE ARTICLE ABOUT EXTENDING THE RECALL INVESTIGATION TO 1995 MODELS. I ENCOURAGE YOU TO EXTEND IT DOWN TO AT LEAST 1994. THANK YOU SUSAN MARSHALL
I HAVE REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR ON MY F150 FIVE TIMES IN FIVE YEARS. TWICE THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR ON THE BACK OF THE ALTERNATOR WAS MELTED. I BOUGHT MY CURRENT ALTENATOR AT NAPA WITH A LIFETIME WARRANTY 6 MONTHS AGO. I HAD TO CUT MY FACTORY ORIGINAL PLUG OFF THE HARNESS AND SPLICE IN THE WIRES FROM THE NEW ALTERNATOR. SO FAR SO GOOD, BUT THEY ALWAYS LAST ABOUT A YEAR ANYWAY. I THINK THEY FAIL BECAUSE OF THE EXCESS HEAT FROM THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THERE IS OLNY A COUPLE OF INCHES BETWEEN THE TWO. I PLAN TO BUILD A SHIELD TO REFLECT THE HEAT AWAY FROM THE ALTERNATOR AND WIRING. *AK
CONSUMER STATED THAT WIRING IN VEHICLE'S FRONT LUMBAR SEATS CAUGHT FIRE RESULTING IN ENTIRE INTERIOR CAB OF TRUCK BEING BURNED. VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY. MR
WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE THE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS ON THE DASH INDICATING A PROBLEM. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED DUE TO VIN. *TS *NLM

A SEMI TRUCK FAILED TO YIELD THE RIGHT AWAY WHICH CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE LOCATION AND TYPE OF IMPACT WAS DESCRIBED AS "T BONED" . THE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. NLM
2-PIECE HYDRAULIC BRAKE HOSE ON FRONT WHEEL ON DRIVER'S SIDE SEPARATED DUE TO CORROSION OF METAL JOINT THAT JOINS 2-PIECE HOSE. COMPLETE AND EXCESSIVE CORROSION MAKES IT OBVIOUS OTHER LINE WILL PROBABLY FAIL. JOINT IS IN RUBBER BOOT THAT OBVIOUSLY HOLD MOISTURE. A VERY BAD DESIGN.*AK
THE AIR BAG LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD INTERMITTENTLY AND THE HORN HAD BECOME INOPERATIVE. TS THE CLOCK SPRING WAS FOUND TO BE FAULTY AND CAUSED THE AIR BAG TO NOT DEPLOY. SCC
VEHICLE WAS PARKED INSIDE GARAGE AND TWO HOUR LATER THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. DRIVER CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *AK
I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY A VEHICLE LESS THAN 10 YEARS OLD WOULD HAVE THESE PROBLEMS WHEN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM IS STILL LIKE NEW. THE FUEL TANK LEAK WAS PRETTY BAD. I DIDN'T KNOW IF I'D MAKE IT HOME WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. FORD SAID THEY ARE UNAWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. THE PLACE I BOUGHT THE NEW TANK AND OIL PAN SAID THAT THESE ARE CHRONIC PROBLEMS. DT

A PORTION OF THE UNUSED FUEL FROM ONE TANK IS TO BE RETURNED TO SECOND TANK. WHEN THIS OCCURS, SECOND TANK IS EXCEEDED CAUSING FUEL SPILLAGES. SPILLED FUEL CAN RESULT IN A FIRE WHEN EXPOSED TO A SOURCE OF IGNITION.*AK.*JB
WHILE DRIVING AT 30 TO 40 MPH, CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKES AND PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. CONSUMER STATED THAT THE RESERVOIR THAT ATTACHES TO MASTER BRAKE CAME OFF CYLINDER. *AK JLG
I DROVE THIS TRUCK TWO HOURS PRIOR TO FIRE WHICH RESULTED IN A TOTAL LOSS, WITH AN ADDTIONAL AMOUNT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE OF $2,000. THE TRUCK RAN VERY WELL THAT MORNING. I DROVE IT A DISTANCE OF APRROX. 40 MILES, NO WARNING LIGHTS, NO SMELLS NOTHING. I HAD THE TRUCK PARKED AT HOME FOR APPROX. 2 1/2 HOURS WHEN I HEARD THE ALARM BEEP ONCE SO I PROCEEDED TO THE TRUCK AND NOTICED A HEAVY AMOUNT OF SMOKE COMING FROM THE WHEEL WELL ON THE FRONT LEFT SIDE, AND ALSO THE GRILL AREA. AT THIS POINT I CALLED 911, AND WENT BACK TO THE TRUCK TO TRY TO PULL THE HOOD RELEASE, BUT THERE WERE FLAMES COMING OUT OF THE GRILL AREA. THE FIRE SOON SPREAD THROUGH THE FIRE WALL INTO THE INTERIOR COMPARTMENT, I PROBABLY THREW 20 BUCKETS OF WATER ON THE FIRE PRIOR TO FIRE DEPT. GETTING HERE AND WAS UN-SUCCESSFUL IN PUTTING IT OUT. FORTUNENATLY I DID NOT HAVE THE TRUCK PARKED INSIDE THE ATTACHED GARAGE AT THE TIME. OUR FAMILY HAS BEEN IN THE AUTOMOTIVE BUSINESS SINCE 1948 AND I AM FAMILIAR WITH STRANGE NOISES, SMELLS, ETC.. THERE WAS NO FUEL LEAKS ON THIS TRUCK, IT WAS SERVICED REGULARLY, AND FOR A 1994 MODEL IT WAS IN EXCELLANT CONDITION, I HAVE MANY RECENT PHOTOS CONFIRMING THE VEHICLE CONDITION. I WANT TO KNOW OF ANY RECALLS THAT THIS TRUCK MAY HAVE HAD OR NOT HAD AND WOULD APPRECIATE KNOWING THE EXACT CAUSE OF SUCH A DEVASTATING FIRE. I HAD THIS TRUCK PARKED IN AN ENCLOSED GARAGE FOR THE LAST WEEK OR SO, THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO SMELL OF FUEL IN THAT GARAGE, THE FIRST SMOKE I SMELLED WAS OF INSULATION BURING OFF OF THE ELECTRICAL WIRING. I HAVE HAD THE TRANSMISSION SERVICED 4 TIMES. EACH TIME TEMPERARILY FIXING THE PROBLEM. NOW THE TRANSMISSION HAS I GUESS FAILED COMPLETELY.*AK

CONSUMER HAD TO REPLACE ENGINE THREE TIMES DUE TO HEAD GASKET BLOWOUT. ENGINE WILL OVERHEAT WITHOUT A PRIOR WARNING, VEHICLE WILL LOSE POWER. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFOMATION. *AK
FUEL PUMP STOPPED WORKING OVERFLOODING REAR TANK, HAD TAKEN VEHICLE TO MECHANIC, AND FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED. PROBLEM HAD HAPPENED AGAIN WITH NEW PUMP. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.*AK

CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLY FAILED (CRUISE CONTROL CEASED FUNCTIONING). UPON DISASSEMBLY OF CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLY I FOUND THAT THE LUBRICANT USED TO LUBRICATE THE RIBBON CABLE HAD CONGEALED AND WAS CAUSING DRAG IN THE RIBBON CABLE TO HOUSING INTERFACE. THIS WAS MOST LIKELY THE CAUSE OF THE CABLE FAILURE (BROKEN CONDUCTOR). THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT FAILURE DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE AIR BAG CIRCUIT IS ALSO CARRIED BY THIS MECHANISM.*AK
TRANSMISSION IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WHEN STARTING VEHICLE IN THE MORNING VEHICLE WOULD JERK HARD WHEN SHIFTING INTO GEAR. *AK *TT
