FUEL LEAK. *AK CONSUMER STATED THAT FUEL PUMPS INTO FRONT FUEL TANK WHILE VEHICLE RUNS ON REAR TANK. THIS RESULT IN OVER FILLING FRONT TANK AND FUEL SPILLED. THE DEALER REAR MODIFIES REAR FUEL PUMP BUT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT SOLVED. *YH
CONSUMER HAS DISCOVERED THAT BOTH OF THE GAS TANKS ON THE VEHICLE LEAK. THE REAR TANK LEAKS BADLY AFTER IT HAS BEEN FILLED. CONSUMER IS CONCERNED OF A POSSIBLE FIRE BECAUSE THE GAS LEAKS ONTO THE TAIL PIPE. FUEL LEAKS ARE COMING FROM THE FRONT AND THE REAR FUEL TANKS. *JG

WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED CONSUMER NOTICED A PUDDLE OF GAS LEAKING FROM REAR TANK. THE CONSUMER STARTED USING THE FRONT TANK, AND NOTICED FUEL LEAKING. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK THE MECHANIC HAD CHECKED THE LEAKING FUEL TANKS, CHANGED REAR FUEL PUMP & TANK, CHANGED THE FUEL FILTER, AND REPAIRED THE FRONT TANK. *SCC

DRIVING ON HIGHWAY 54,DOING 65 IN A 70,TREAD SEPARATED OFF TIRE WHILE WE WERE TRYING TO GET UNDER CONTROL AND OUT OF TRAFFIC THE TIRE BEAT AGAINST MY TRUCK CAUSING SEVERE DAMAGEFORE AND AFTER THE TIRE DAMAGING THE SHEET METAL, RIPPING THE INNER FENDER WELL OUT AND DAMAGING A LEAF SPRING. *AK (DOT NUMBER: VDHLFRW208 TIRESIZE: P235/75R15)

WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH A FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD AND THEN AND EXPLOSION AFTER 5 MIN. THE CONSUMER SUFFERED A CONCUSSION. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED. *NM

AT 50MPH THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIOLENT SHAKE, ALMOST TO THE POINT OF LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, TWO TIRE HAD NOTICEABLE BULGES, REPLACE TWO TIRES WHERE THE BELT HAD SEPARATED.
THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF FUEL COMING FROM THE VEHICLE . ALSO, VEHICLE IS LEAKING FUEL. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION. *AK

TREAD HAS SEPARATED ON THESE TIRES 4 OUT 5 THAT I HAVE PURCHASED. I HAVE HAD BODY DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE ON 2 OF THOSE OCCASIONS. THESE TIRES SEEM TO HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED AT THE FIRESTONE PLANT IN QUESTION, REGARDING THE OTHER FIRESTONE TIRE RECALLS. I FEEL THAT THIS FAILURE RATE IS UNUSUALLY HIGH. PRIOR TO THE FIRE NO OTHER PROBLEMS REPORTED. NO AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT ON VEHICLE. THE FIRE DID NOT SPREAD TO THE HOUSE. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE ACCORDING TO CHARLIE MILLER WAS THE SPEED CONTROL SWITCH. ALTERNATOR PIGTAIL PLUG IS NON HEAT RESISTANT THEREFORE SPONTANIOUSLY COMBUSTS. ACCORDING TO AUTO PARTS DEALERS AND DIFFERENT MECHANICS WHO BEAR THIS OUT THAT FORD HAS A CONSISTANT PROBLEM WITH THIS PLUG. NAPA AUTO PARTS WILL NOT WARRANTY ALTERNATORS WITHOUT SWITCHING THIS PLUG IN CERTAIN FORDS. SEEMS TO ME THERE IS A SILENT HAZARD HERE. *AK
AIR BAG LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING AND SPEED CONTROL FAILED TO WORK. DIAGNOSED AS BROKEN CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLY. NO WARRANTY AT DEALER. REPAIRS COST $ 230.99. *AK
CONSUMER NOTICED OIL IN DRIVEWAY. INSPECTED VEHICLE AND NOTICED OIL PAN WAS RUSTED THROUGH. *AK CONSUMER STATES HE CONTACTED DEALERSHIP, AND WAS TOLD THAT REPAIRS MIGHT HAVE BEEN COVERED IF HE HAD RECEIVED HIS REGULAR MAINTENANCE THERE, BUT BECAUSE CONSUMER HAD HIS OIL CHANGED SOMEWHERE ELSE HE WAS ADVISED HE WAS NOT A LOYAL CUSTOMER, THEREFORE HE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS. *JB
MY QUESTION IS WHY DID THE AIR BAG NOT DEPLOY? THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED ON THIS FORM REPLACED THE CLOCK SPRING ON THE AIRBAG MAYBE 6 MONTHS TO A YEAR AGO. THEY ALSO SAID THAT THE BAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY UNLESS ACCIDENT WAS AT 28 MPH AND LIKE HITTING A STONE WALL WITHOUT BREAKING. MY SON REAR ENDED A NEON HITTING DIRECTLY IN THE CENTER OF THE TRUCK BUMPER CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE TRUNK OF THE NEON. THE TRUCK DAMAGE IS THAT THE BUMPER MUST BE REPLACED AS IT BENT AND CRACKED ALONG WITH BENDING THE 1/4" BRACKESTS THAT ATTACH IT TO THE FRAME. THE GRILL ALSO NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I'M CONCERNED BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP COMMENTED THAT IF THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS NOT ON ITS OPERATING CORRECTLY ALONG WITH 28 MPH COMMENT. WHO'S TO SAY THE BULB IS NOT OUT OR THEY CONNECTED THE WIRES WHEN THE WORK WAS DONE OR IT'S JUST NOT OPERABLE. BEING A LIFE SAVING DEVISE I'M A BIT SHAKEN BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A GOOD FEELING THAT IT WOULD DEPLOY. IS IT POSSIBLE TO CLARIFY IF WHAT THE DEALERSHIP SAID IS CORRECT THAT IT WOULD NOT DEPLOY UNLESS ACCIDENT WAS AT OR ABOVE 28 MPH? THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT GIVE ME THE IMPRESSION THEY WOULD LOOK AT IT EITHER UNLESS OF COURSE I WAS BILLED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER.*AK
CONSUMER HAD TAKEN VEHICLE FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND FOUND OUT THAT OIL PAN HAD A RUSTED HOLE, AND OIL HAD BEEN LEAKING THROUGH. MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO REPAIR.*AK TO REPLACE THE OIL PAN, THE ENGINE MUST BE REMOVED AND THE COST WAS HIGH. *YH

THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY 1994 F- 150. I TOOK THE TRUCK IN FOR THE RECALL AND THE DEALER SAID THEY WOULD DISCONNECT THE CRUISE CONTROL UNTIL THE PARTS COME IN TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I DIDN'T HEAR FROM THE DEALER FOR A FEW MONTHS, SO I CALLED THEM AND THE DEALER HAD ME BRING IN MY TRUCK. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS ALREADY FIXED AND THAT ANOTHER PROBLEM OCCURRED AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER PART. HOWEVER, THE CRUISE CONTROL WORKED FINE UNTIL I TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR THE RECALL. *TR
STEERING BOX BROKE, CAUSING NO POWER STEERING UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING. THIS MAY CAUSE A CRASH. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
LOWER FRONT BOLT HOLDING STEERING GEAR PULLED THROUGH THE FRAME, RUST AND DIRT BEGAN TO FORM ON THE METAL WHICH CAUSED THE 2 REAR BOLTS TO BEND SIDEWAYS, THEY BROKE OFF AT THE POINT WHERE THEY SCREWED INTO THE GEAR AND FELL OUT, CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING, VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT TIME OF FAILURE. *SLC

FRONT FUEL TANK LEAKS JUST ABOVE SEAM LINE APPROX 1AND1/2 INCHES ABOVE SEAM. THE SEAM IS AT AN ANGLE.THE FRONT OF THE TANK IS PITTED. THERE IS A PROTECTIVE COVER ON THE FRONT THAT IS MOLDED TO THE SHAPE OF THE TANK .THERE ARE NO DRAIN HOLES IN THE COVER. IF THE COVER IS PUSHED ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE SEAM THE WATER WILL STAY ABOVE THE SEAM. THE DESIGN DOES NOT ALLOW MOISTURE TO RUN OFF IF THE VEHICLE IS PARKED IN A FOWARD PITCH AS MINE IS AT MY HOME.ALSO IF YOU LOOK IN BETWEEN THE BED AND THE CAB , AT THAT POINT YOU SEE THAT THE TANK SLOPES FOWARD TOWARD THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO AT THAT POINT YOU SEE THE PROTECTIVE COVER JUST AT THE CAB LINE. HAD THE COVER GONE PAST THE BEDLINE MORE THAN LIKELY THIS PROBLEM WOULD NOT HAPPEN. I HAVE PATCHED THE FRONT TANK BECAUSE OF THE FUMES,BUT I DO NOT USE IT.
AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINED ON AND CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED OPERATING. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT NO RECALL ON THAT PROBLEM. *AK ALSO THE HORN FAILED. *YH
ELECTRICAL PANEL UNDER DASH BOARD CAUGHT ON FIRE. AS CONSUMER WAS DRIVING, LIGHTS WENT OUT AND FIRE BEGAN. HARNESS WIRES WERE BURNED. ALSO, FUEL TANK HAD A HOLE AT THE STRAP ASSEMBLY. DEALER REPLACED TANK AT CONSUMER'S EXPENSE. BOTH INCIDENTS MAY HAVE CAUSED EXTENSIVE FIRE DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. *AK

FRONT BUMPER BOLTS MISSING. FOUND RECALL 94S79 WHICH ADDRESSES THIS PROBLEM. LOWER RIGHT BUMPER RETENTION CLIP IS BROKEN. CONTACTED VALLEY FORD. OASIS DID NOT LIST ACTIVE RECALL AGAINST MY VEHICLE. NO GREEN PAINT ON BUMPER TO INDICATE FACTORY CORRECTION. VALLEY FORD SERVICE MANAGER (VERY NICE LADY) INFORMED ME THAT VEHICLE WAS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RECALL. SHE ASKED ME "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?". I TOLD HER "NEVER MIND I'LL FIX IT MYSELF". CHECKED ON PARTS AVAILABILITY WITH PARTS DEPARTMENT. PARTS AVAILABLE COST $1.03. PARTS MAN AND I BOTH COMMENT ON LOW COST. FORD USUALLY CHARGES AT LEAST $3/BOLT. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THAT OASIS DID NOT LIST THIS VEHICLE IN RECALL EVEN THOUGH THE FAILURE IS EXACTLY AS DETAILED IN THE RECALL. *AK
