DOOR AJAR/LIGHT STAYS ON, AND THERE IS CHIMING NOISE TO LET CONSUMER KNOW THAT DOOR IS OPEN. ALSO DOME LIGHT IS ON. *AK
THE MODULAR FOR ABS BRAKES WAS DEFECTIVE. ANTI-LOCK BRAKES WORK, ABS LIGHT COMES ON AT VARIOUS TIMES AND WILL NOT STAY ON VERY LONG, IN SHOP 10 TO 12 TIMES, THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM.. *AK *MJS
SEAT BELTS DO NOT RETRACT QUICKLY AND COMPLETELY WHEN RELEASED, A WEAK RETRACTION SPRING AND THE UPPER PLASTIC LOCATER YOKE AND THE CLOTH SEAT EXERT TOO MUCH FRICTION. BOTH SEAT BELTS WERE REPLACED, HOWEVER FAILED AFTER ONE USE, DRIVER SIDE WAS REPLACED AGAIN AND FAILED, THERE IS A RECALL, 00V348, HOWEVER THIS IS FOR 2001 MODELS. *SLC
THE DRIVERS SIDE MIRROR (REMOTE CONTROLLED TYPE)VIBRATES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS CAUSING REAR VIEWED VEHICLE LIGHTS AT NIGHT TO BOUNCE ALL OVER THE PLACE CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. DEALER REPLACED MIRROR THREE TIMES TO NO AVAIL. STATED "FORD KNOWS ABOUT IT, BUT HAS NO FIX, WHY NOT COMPLAIN TO THE DSB". THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO FOR IT UNTIL FORD ACKNOWLEDGES IT AS A DEFECT AND ISSUES A TSB TO US". OKAY I FILLED OUT THE DSB FORM AND A FACTORY REP CAME AND LOOKED AT IT AND STATED: "98% OF ALL F150'S WITH THESE MIRRORS VIBRATE". "THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO FOR YOU." ISSUE IS STILL PENDING BEFORE THE DSB. FORD'S ONLY TSB REF THIS ISSUE SAYS CHECK TIRE PRESSURE AND/OR BUG DEFLECTORS. BOTH OF THESE WERE LOOKED AT, STILL SHAKES. FORD HAS A DESIGN PROBLEM BETWEEN THE DOOR/MIRROR COMBINATION. AND THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR DOES NOT MOVE AT ALL. *AK
WHEN YOU EXTEND THE DRIVER OR PASSANGER SEAT BELTS THEY DO NOT RETRACT I HAVE TALKED WITH SEVERAL OWNERS OF 99 FORD TRUCKS AND CARS WHO ALSO HAVE THIS PROBLEM I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF THIS WAS A SAFTY HAZZARD AND IF INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WOULD THE SEAT BELTS WORK I HAVE ASKED THE DEALER IF THAT ITEM WAS RECALLED AND THEY ADVISED IT WAS NOT IF AT ALL POSSIBLE COULD YOU ADVISE ME ON THIS MATTER VIA E-MAIL THANK YOU. *AK
ENGINE HAD AN OIL LEAK, PROBABLY BEFORE THE VEHICHLE LEFT THE FACTORY, THE LEAK IS NOT REPAIRABLE SO THE ENGINE IS BEING REPLACED. *AK
ENTIRE BED AND FENDER WELDS HAVE TINY RUST SPOTS. DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND CANNOT REMEDY THE ENTIRE PROBLEM. 2) WHEN STARTING VEHICLE LOUD NOISE SOUNDS INTERMITTENTLY. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
THERE IS A CRACK ON THE DRIVERSIDE DOOR WHERE THE WIDOWSILL STARTS TO CURVE. I HAVE HAD IT WELDED ONCE AND IT REAPPEARED THE SAME DAY I GOT MY TRUCK HOME. THE AIR CONDITIONER SMELLS LIKE MOLD WHENEVER I USE IT. IT HAS BEEN WORKED ON FIVE TIMES TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM BUT IT STILL PERSISTS.
TRANSMISSION WON'T GO IN 1ST GEAR FOR TAKE OFF. ONCE IN REVERSE TO NEUTRAL, IT WON'T GO IN 1ST GEAR. DEALER HAS LOOKED AT TRANSMISSION TWICE, BUT SAID THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. THEY HAVE OFFERED TO GIVE A LOANER VEHICLE TO CHECK THE VEHICLE AGAIN. *AK
WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THEIR IS A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM VEHICLE. IT SOUNDS LIKE METAL RUBBING AGAINST METAL. DEALER IS AWARD OF THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 5-10 MPH THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. DEALER CONTACTED AND WAS NOT AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. REPAIR WORK SCHEDULED FOR REMEDY OF PROBLEM WHEN AIR BAG ORDER COMES IN. *AK *ML

DOORS HAVE A ELECTRICAL SHOCK. WHEN EXITING TRHROUGH DOORS FROM VEHICLE CONSUMER WILL GET AN ELECTRICAL SHOCK. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM.*AK THE ELECTRICAL SHOCK HAPPENS ONLY TO THE DRIVER NOT PASSENGERS. THE DRIVER THINKS A BUILD UP OF STATIC ELECTRICITY IS BEING TRANSFERRED BY STARTER, STEERING COLULMN, GAS AND BRAKE PEDAL. THE STARTER, THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM, CATALYTIC CONVERTOR AND EXHAUST SYSTEM HAD BEEN REPLACED TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL CONTINUES. *YH
WHILE DRIVING, CONSUMER HEARD VIBRATION AND VEHICLE STARTED TO WEAVE BACK AND FORTH, CONSUMER INSPECTED TIRES AND FOUND LEFT REAR FIRESTONE WILDERNESS TIRE P235/70R16 HAD EXPERIENCED A BLOWOUT IN THE SIDEWALL, DOT# VN081RC368. *SLC
WHEN STOPPING AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY START TO ACCELERATE AS IF SOMEONE SLAMMED FOOT ON ACCELERATOR. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH WHEN PASSENGER'S FRONT TIRE CAME OFF UNEXPECTEDLY, CAUSING AN ACCIDENT, AND RESULTING IN SEVERE INJURIES TO DRIVER AND PASSENGERS. *AK
I AM ON MY SECOND REAR SLIDING WINDOW AND IT IS LEAKING ALSO. I AM ON MY SECOND TRANSMISSION, AND THERE IS A CLUNKING OR SLAPPING NOISE WHEN YOU COME TO A STOP. A FORD ENGINEER SAYS THAT THIS IS NORMAL OR COMMON ON ALL NEW FORD PICKUP TRUCKS. I DISAGREE THE TRUCK DID NOT MAKE THIS SOUND WHEN IT WAS FIRST NEW. THEY HAVE TRIED 3 OR 4 TIMES TO FIX THE POPPING NOISE IN THE DASH AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET RID OF IT. *AK
WE ARE UNABLE TO SAFELY INSTALL CHILD SAFETY SEATS IN THE BACK OF THIS TRUCK.WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THE SAFEST PLACE TO HOOK UP A CARSEAT IS IN THE FRONT SEAT WITH THE AIR BAG TURNED OFF.THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE AS WE HAVE TWO CHILDREN.THE PROBLEM IS HOWEVER,IS THE FACT THAT CARSEATS CANNOT BE PUT IN THE BACKSEAT PROPERLY AND WITHIN SAFETY GUIDELINES.
THE STEERING ON MY 1999 FORD F150 SUPERCAB (LARIET MODEL) WILL NOT COME BACK TO CENTERING. WHEN I SLIGHTLY TURN THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT IT JUST KEEPS ON GOING IN THAT DIRECTION. I HAVE HAD THIS IN THE DEALER FOR THEM TO LOOK AT AND THEY ADMIT THERE IS A PROBLEM SO THAY CONTACTED THE FORD ENGINEER AND WAS TOLD THEY ALL DO THE SAME ON THE 1999 F150 PICK-UPS WITH SUPERCAB AND V-8 ENGINE. IT SEEMS TO BE ONLY ON THIS SUSPENSION ON THIS MODEL. I HAVE DRIVEN OTHERS AND THEY DO THE SAME. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS STEERING PROBLEM. I ALMOST WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON SNOW COVERED ROADS DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE AND OTHERS I DROVE OF THE SAME STYLE FROM THE DEALER WERE ALL THE SAME. I WOULD APPRECIATE AN INVESTIGATION ON THIS VERY SERIOUS STEERING PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE JUST WILL NOT GO DOWN THE ROAD STRAIGHT WITHOUT FORCEFULLY TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL BACK TO CENTER TO CONSTANTLY CORRECT IT.
THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW IN OCTOBER 1998. THE FIRST INSTANCE WAS WHILE DRIVING LONG DISTANCE OVER A HOLIDAY WEEK. INITIALLY IT WAS ONLY THE WIPERS THAT WOULD TURN ON THEN OFF WITHOUT MANUALLY DOING SO. THIS HAS GONE ON FOR NEARLY 15YRS. MOST RECENTLY, THE WIPERS WILL NOT TURN OFF AND ACTUALLY NOW TURN ON AT A FASTER RATE ON THEIR OWN, WINDOW WASHER FLUID CONTROL IS VERY SENSITIVE AND WILL TURN ON WITH A LIGHT TOUCH TO THE TURN INDICATOR AND WON'T TURN OFF, THE DASH DISPLAY WILL TURN OFF, AND THE RADIO DISPLAY IS NOT WORKING (RADIO WORKS). WE HAVE FOUND THAT THE STEERING WHEEL HAS TO BE SET AT THE TOP POSITION IN ORDER FOR THE WIPERS TO NOT TURN ON AS MUCH (IT IS VERY FREQUENT NOW). WE HAD THE TRUCK LOOKED AT WITHIN THE FIRST FEW MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP BY THE FORD DEALER FOR THE WIPER ISSUE, AND NOTHING WAS FOUND TO RESOLVE. AFTER READING THROUGH OTHER FILED COMPLAINTS, I AM HOPING THAT THE TRUCK WILL NOT BURST INTO FLAMES DUE TO THE FAULTY ELECTRICAL GOING ON IN THE PANEL AND STEERING.
FAULTY ELECTRICAL WIRING CAUSING ERRATIC OPERATION OF DIFFERENT PARTS IN VEHICLE, SUCH AS POWER WINDOWS DO NOT TO WORK PROPERLY AND CAUSE THE MOTOR TO OVERHEAT/ NO BRAKES/NO TAIL LIGHTS AND MALFUNCTIONING OF CRUISE CONTROL. VEHICLE BEEN IN THE DEALER SHOP ON TWO OCCASIONS, PROBLEM STILL HAS NOT BE RESOLVED, AND VEHICLE STILL IN THE DEALER SHOP. DEALER WOULD NOT GIVE CONSUMER A LOANER UNTIL THEY CAN CORRECT THE PROBLEM. CAN NHTSA HELP OR PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS MATTER. *AK
POOR GAS MILEAGE; HAS AVERAGED 15.4 MILES PER GALLON, AND FORD ADVERTISES 16 CITY TO 20 HIGHWAY. OTHER F150 OWNERS REPORT POOR GAS MILEAGE. IS THIS FALSE ADVERTISING BECAUSE I WOULD NEVER HAVE PURCHASED TRUCK GETTING 15.4 MILES PER GALLON WHEN I TRAVEL MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES. I HAVE A LOUD RATTLE NOISE UNDER TRUCK AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS AND MUFFLER HAVE ALL BEEN REPLACED! ALSO, VIBRATION VIA GAS PEDAL FROM ENGINE (?) NOTED BETWEEN 45 AND 55 MPH. *AK
CONSUMER WANTS INFORMATION ON WHAT THE MANUFACTURER IS DOING ABOUT THE WINDOW FRAME DOOR CRACKS. HIS VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. *JG *NM
BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER CAPTAIN CHAIRS HAVE ARM REST THAT CAN RELEASE THE SEAT BELTS. THE PASSENGER LOADED THE ARM REST ON THE P-SIDE WHICH PRESSED THE RED RELEASE BUTTON CAUSING THE OCCUPANT TO BE EJECTED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER'S SIDE DID NOT UNLATCH BUT WAS KILLED WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR OPENED. CW *LA *SC THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER AND THE ARM REST RELEASED THE SEAT BELTS. *JB
VEHICLE'S TIE ROD SHEARED OFF ON 1999 FORD F-150.*MR THE DRIVER'S SIDE TIE ROD SHEARED OFF AT THE STEERING KNUCKLE BALL JOINT WITH THE TIE ROD SOCKET STILL ATTACHED TO THE BALL ON THE WHEEL. THIS RESULTED IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND CAUSED THE TWO FRONT WHEELS TO POINT IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS. *NM

1999 F150 WOULD SMELL AS IF SOMETHING WAS BURNING WHEN CRUISE CONTROL WAS USED. *TS THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL AND CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DISCONNECTED THE CRUISE CONTROL AND STATED THAT NEW PARTS SHOULD ARRIVE IN JANUARY. TO DATE THE PARTS HAVE NOT ARRIVED. *NM
AT HIGHWAY SPEED (55 MPH) THE WIND OVER THE HOOD DIRECTS THE STREAM OF FLUID FROM THE WINDSHIELD WASHERS TO LAND BELOW THE WIPER BLADES, CAUSING IT TO BECOME COMPLETELY INEFFECTIVE. THE DEALER INFORMS ME THAT THIS IS A DESIGN PROBLEM FOR WHICH THERE IS NO REPAIR. *AK
THE FORCE OF THE WIND OVER THE HOOD DIRECTS THE STREAM OF WASHER FLUID FROM THE WASHERS TO A PLACE BELOW THE WIPER BLADES DUE TO DESIGN.
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, AND VEHICLE DID NOT STOP. DEALER CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. ABS WARNING LIGHT STILL COMES ON. *AK
THE SEATBELTS IN THE PICKUP ARE SET FORWARD OF THE SEAT CREASE, NOT ALLOWING CHILD CAR SEAT TO PROPERLY FIT. THE MANUAL DOES NOT ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM AT ALL. *AK
FAILED MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED, HOWEVER BRAKE PEDAL STILL GOES TO THE FLOOR.
AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE VEHICLE WILL EXPERIENCE EXCESSIVE VIBRATION, CAUSING A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. *AK
IS PE99019 RELATED TO SPARE TIRE WEAR DUE TO MOUNTING AGAINST THE CHASSIS (CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE SPARE)? IF SO, THIS COMPLAINT EXTENDS THAT COMPLAINT TO COVER MODEL YEAR 1999 AS WELL.

WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED. TRYING TO SLOW DOWN, THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULDN'T DISENGAGE. CONSUMER PUT THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL, AND DISENGAGED THE SWITCH ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO DISENGAGE CRUISE CONTROL. VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. *AK
ABS BRAKE PROBLEMS; WHEN TRAVELING 55 MPH AND APPLYING THE BRAKES, PEDAL GOES WAY PASS THE NORMAL CONDITION. THERE IS NO GRAB, BUT A SLIGHT SLOWING DOWN WHICH INCREASES THE STOPPING DISTANCE. THIS COULD CAUSE A CRASH. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN SERVICED TWICE FOR THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. AK
