THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V388000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL); HOWEVER, THE CRUISE CONTROL EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WHERE THE SPEED CONTROL SENSOR WAS LOCATED WAS FRACTURED, CAUSING THE BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK OUT OF THE CYLINDER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT THE CONTACT WAS NOT OFFERED A REMEDY FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 246,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F-150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED APPROXIMATELY 12 FEET FROM THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE, THE SECURITY ALARM SOUNDED. THE CONTACT OBSERVED FLAMES COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE THAT SPREAD TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE CONTACT AND OTHER INDIVIDUALS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V017000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160,000.
TURN SIGNAL ARE NOW SPORADIC. UPON INVESTIGATING I FOUND THAT WHEN THE TILT IS ENGAGED AND LOWERED THE TURN SIGNALS WOULD NOT WORK. RAISE STEERING WHEEL BACK UP IT WOULD WORK. START TO DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD THEY WOULD TURN OFF OR NOT WORK AT ALL OR WOK SOMETIMES. RAISE THE STEERING WHEEL THEY WORK. LOWER IT THEY DON'T. THIS INDICATES FROM FURTHER RESEARCH ON LINE IN FORD F150 FORUMS THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING BEING TO SHORT AND THE WIRES GET PULLED OUT OF THE SWITCH. IT IS A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE IN F!%) FROM 98 UP TO 2004 AND ARE NOW BEING REPORTED IN NEWER MODELS AS WELL. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD FOR DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS AND DRIVERS BEHIND THE VEHICLES.AND SHOULD BE REMEDIED BY FORD AT NO EXPENSE TO THE OWNERS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AUTO THEFT SENSOR ILLUMINATED SEVERAL TIMES AND CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE RANDOMLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO REPLACED THE KEY, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO HAVE EXTREME DIFFICULTY WITH TURNING THE KEY TO START THE IGNITION AND THE AUTO THEFT WARNING LAMP CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE AND NOTICED THAT THE SPARE TIRE SEPARATED FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE CARRIER CABLE THAT HOLDS THE SPARE TIRE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 163,787.
DOOR RELEASE HANDLES ON BOTH REAR DOORS FAILED TO OPEN WITHIN A MONTH APART WHICH WOULD HAVE TRAPPED THE REAR SEAT PASSENGERS. THE CABLE AND LATCH ASSEMBLIES HAD TO BE REPLACED.
SPARK "BLEW OUT" OF CYLINDER HEAD AND ALSO DAMAGED COIL-ON-PLUG ASSEMBLY. *TR
SPARK PLUG HAS BLOWN OUT ON 3 DIFFERENT TIMES 1 PLUG HAS BLOWN TWICE. NO FIRE, BUT IF I HAD CONTINUES IT MAY CAUSE A FIRE, FUEL AND SPARK OUT SIDE THE ENGINE. *TR

THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.

I WAS DRIVEN AND THE SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF THE HEAD. *DT
I HAD MY TRUCK IN PARK I PROCEEDED TO GET INTO THE TRUCK WITH MY RIGHT LEG ON THE RUNNING BOARD LEFT LEG ON THE GROUND, I GRABBED THE STEERING WHEEL TO PULL MYSELF INSIDE OF THE TRUCK AND IT POPPED FROM PARK TO REVERSE AND PROCEEDED TO DRAG ME DOWN THE HILL IN REVERSE FOR ROUGHLY 45 FEET. I TRIED TO GET AWAY FROM IT AND COULD NOT, AND IT RAN OVER MY TWO LEGS IN THE THIGH AREAS. AFTER I WAS TAKEN TO THE ER. *TR
BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE FROM SOMEONE AND BEFORE FINDING OUT ABOUT THE FUEL STRAP RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE. FILLED FUEL TANK AND HAD A VERY NOTICEABLE LEAK OF FUEL FROM TANK. WHEN INVESTIGATED, FOUND THE FUEL STRAPS WERE SEVERELY CORRODED AND HAD CAUSED CORROSION IN THE SEAM OF FUEL TANK, CAUSING THE FUEL TO LEAK FROM TANK. *JS

WE HAVE A FORD F150 CREW CAB WITH A 5.4 TRITON MOTOR. I WAS PUTTING IT IN REVERSE TO DRIVE AWAY AND THERE WAS A STRANGE POPPING SOUND. I INSTANTLY SHUT IT OFF AND OPENED THE HOOD. MY FATHER EXAMINED IT FOR ME AND STATED THE NUMBER 3 SPARK PLUG HAD EJECTED ITSELF, CRACKING THE COIL AS WELL. WE HAD TO HAVE A HELICOIL KIT INSTALLED IN ORDER TO HAVE THREADS FOR THE NEW PLUG. THE TRUCK STILL IS NOT RUNNING PROPERLY. THIS HAS COST APPROXIMATELY $300 SO FAR, AND THERE IS MORE WORK THAT WILL HAVE TO BE DONE SINCE IT STILL SPUTTERS AND RUNS ROUGH. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP, AS I HAVE RESEARCHED IT ON THE INTERNET BUT FORD REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE POORLY MANUFACTURED TRITON MOTOR. FIRES CAN START WHEN THEY POP OUT AS WELL. THIS IS A DIS-SERVICE TO THE PUBLIC WHO HAVE UNKNOWINGLY BOUGHT THESE VEHICLES AND GET STUCK WITH HUGE REPAIRS DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE MOTOR. I AM DISGUSTED THAT THERE IS NOT A RECALL. FORD MUST BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THESE REPAIRS! THERE IS A HUGE INJUSTICE HAPPENING BY ALLOWING FORD TO WALK AWAY FROM THE RESPONSIBILITY. A RECALL BEFORE DEATHS HAPPEN WOULD BE THE RESPONSIBLE THING TO DO! LEMON LAWS SHOULD APPLY TO THE TRITON MOTORS BY FORD! FOR SEVERAL MONTHS THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT WILL UNLATCH WHILE DRIVING. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO REASON FOR IT TO UNLATCH AS IT WILL DO IT AT ALL SPEEDS USUALLY SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. *TR

THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH FORD F-150'S BLOWING SPARK PLUGS. I HAVE BLOWN 2 SO FAR AND READ ON NUMEROUS WEBSITES OF MANY MANY PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. BOTH TIMES I HAVE PULLED OVER AND DISCONNECTED THE IGNITION COIL. IF I WOULD NOT KNOW HOW TO DO THIS THE BLOWN PLUG COULD RESULT IN AN ENGINE FIRE. THE TRUCK WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY FOR AT LEAST 24 HOURS WITHOUT BEING USED OR TURNED ON. THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK SUDDENLY WENT ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND PUT IT OUT. THE FIRE BURNED ONLY THE FRONT UP TO THE WINDSHIELD LEAVING THE CAB PARTIALLY MELTED AND MY DAUGHTERS CAR SEAT UNSAFE. NOW THIS MESS SITS IN MY DRIVEWAY AS I WAIT FOR INSPECTOR. AS IT FALLS APART MORE AND MORE EACH DAY AS MY FAMILY AND NEIGHBORS SMELL THE BURNT RUBBLE AND ARE REMINDED OF THAT FRIGHTENING AFTERNOON. *TR

WOKE UP THIS MORNING TO A COUPLE OF LOUD "BOOMS". MY HUSBAND WENT TO CHECK IT OUT AND DISCOVERED HIS TRUCK (WHICH WE JUST PURCHASED IN MAY) WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE DESTROYED THE TRUCK, MELTED THE SIDING ON OUR HOUSE AND GARAGE, AND EVEN CRACKED THREE OF OUR NEIGHBOR'S WINDOWS. WE ARE SO GRATEFUL THE FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED WHEN THEY DID OR THIS FIRE WOULD'VE KEPT BURNING OUR HOUSE. THE TRUCK HADN'T MOVED SINCE LAST NIGHT...DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED BUT WE WILL NOT BE PURCHASING A FORD AGAIN. *JS

I FILLED THE FUEL TANK WITH GAS AND DROVE ABOUT 20 MILES. WHILE PULLING INTO A RESTAURANT AT ABOUT 5 TO 10 MPH I WENT THROUGH A VERY SLIGHT DIP. I HEARD A SOFT THUNK AND HEARD SOMETHING DRAGGING ON THE GROUND. IT WAS NOT REAL LOUD SO I SLOWLY PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT. WHEN I LOOKED UNDER MY VFORD F-150 I NOTICED THAT THE GAS TANK HAD DROPPED DUE TO BOTH STRAPS BREAKING. THE REAR OF THE TANK WAS HELD UP BY THE HOSE GOING TO THE GAS CAP AREA. FORTUNATELY, THIS DID NOT HAPPEN AT HIGH SPEED OR I MAY NOT BE AROUND TO REPORT THE INCIDENT. I CALLED FORD AND THEY STATE THAT THIS VIN NUMBER DID NOT HAVE NAY RECALLS. THE CUSTOMER RESOURCE PERSON (800.392.3673 OPTION 1, 5, 4) STATED THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY GOVERNMENT NUMBER WHERE I COULD CALL IN THIS COMPLAINT. I QUICKLY DID A WEB SEARCH AND FOUND THIS NUMBER SO I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THEY DID NOT KNOW ABOUT IT. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD VERY EASILY LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURIES/DEATH TO OCCUPANTS OF THE 2001 F-150. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO REPLACED THE FUEL TANK AND THE FUEL PUMP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 172,000.

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FILED AN INCIDENT REPORT STATING THAT THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND REMAINED AT THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V388000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) AND STATED THAT HE HAD EXPERIENCED THE CONSEQUENCE LISTED IN THE RECALL HOWEVER, THE CONTAC'S VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000.

2001 FORD F-150. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED DURING ROUTINE USE OF THE TRUCK, THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED FUNCTIONING. THE TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP, INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE CAST STEEL GEAR WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION HAD SHATTERED INTO TWO PIECES. IN OCTOBER 2009, DURING AN ANNUAL SAFETY INSPECTION, THE STRAPS HOLDING THE FUEL TANK IN PLACE WERE CORRODED AND ALMOST COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH. IN THE SUMMER OF 2013, FORD MOTOR COMPANY, SENT THE CONSUMER A NOTICE, INFORMING HIM THE FUEL TANK STRAP WERE BEING RECALLED. THE CONSUMER WAS NOT OVERLY CONCERNED, SINCE THEY HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED, FORD SENT ANOTHER RECALL. THE CONSUMER INFORMED FORD, HE HAD THE STRAPS REPLACED. FORD THEN ADVISED THE CONSUMER TO VISIT THE DEALER ABOUT REIMBURSEMENT. THE DEALER WANTED TO SEE WHAT REPAIRS HAD BEEN MADE. ONCE THE TRUCK WAS ON THE LIFT, IT WAS DISCOVERED THE ORIGINAL FAULTY TANK STRAPS HAD CAUSED A WEAKENING IN THE SKIN OF THE FUEL TAN ITSELF AND THAT IT WAS LEAKING GASOLINE THROUGH THE SKIN OF THE TANK. THE TANK WAS LEAKING FUEL AROUND THE AREA WHERE THE STRAPS RUBBED ON THE TANK. FORD WOULD ONLY HONOR THE RECALL, IF THEY REPLACED THE STRAPS. HOWEVER, THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE LEAKING FUEL TANK. *JB
INTERMITTENT FAILURE OF ABS SYSTEM INDICATED BY ABS WARNING LIGHT. OBD ERROR CODE C1185 - ABS POWER RELAY FAILURE. WHEN FAILED, ABS SYSTEM INOPERABLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WHEN IN REVERSE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPARK PLUG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME LOOSE AS THE STEERING COLUMN BECAME SEPARATED FROM THE UNIVERSAL JOINT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE UNIVERSAL JOINT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
I WAS DRIVING NORTHBOUND ON I-95 WHEN THE DRIVER OF AN ADJACENT VEHICLE ALERTED ME THAT THERE WAS FIRE SHOOTING OUT FROM THE AREA OF THE FUEL FILLER DOOR. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER ONTO THE HIGHWAY MEDIAN AND JUMPED OUT. THE TRUCK WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES, AND THE CAB WAS ON FIRE. I BURNED MYSELF ON THE MELTING STEERING WHEEL AND WAS SINGED BY MELTING PLASTIC. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. EVERYTHING UNDER THE HOOD WAS DESTROYED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THE SEATBELT CLIP WILL RELEASE FROM THE CATCH, CAUSING THE BELT TO RETRACT AND BECOME INEFFECTIVE WHILE IN MOTION. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, AND UNDER VARIOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. I CAN FIND NO REASON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN EXTERIOR OF THE INSTALLED EQUIPMENT. MY VEHICLE HAD THE SEATBELT RETRACTOR REPLACED AFTER RECEIVING A RECALL NOTICE SEVERAL YEARS AGO. THIS APPEARS TO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THAT RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH FUEL TANK STRAPS WERE REPLACED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 11V385000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FUEL TANK WAS ALSO SEVERELY RUSTED WHERE THE STRAPS WERE ATTACHED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY REFUSED TO INCLUDE THE REPLACEMENT OF THE DAMAGED FUEL TANK UNDER THE RECALL SERVICE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
VEHICLE WAS NOT IN USE- PARKED AND NOT ON SMOKE AND FIRE CAME FROM UNDER HOOD THE WIRING MELTED CAUSING THE HOOD TO MELT UNDERNEATH WHERE IT CAN NOT BE OPENED. *TR CONTACTED FORD ON MONDAY JUNE 24 WAITED FEW WEEKS FOR PAPER WORK- PROMPTLY FILLED IT OUT AND NEVER HEARD BACK FROME THEM- MADE SEVERAL CALLS RECEIVED A LETTER FROM LEGAL DEPARTMENT INDICATING THEY NEED THE PART TO REVIEW WE WANTED FORD TO COME TO LOOK AT TRUCK AND RETIREVE THE PART THEY ARE NOT WILLING AND ARE CLOSING THE CASE THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS AND MY FAMILY WAS IN THE TRUCK THAT MORNING- WE RE LUCKY NO ONE WAS KILLED
PAINT IS PEELING OFF OF THE ROOF, THE REAR OF THE CAB, THE PASSENGER REAR DOOR, AND FROM THE FUEL DOOR.
THE CONTACT OWNS 2001 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED A THUMPING NOISE WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC TO BE INSPECTED WHERE THE FAILURE WAS LOCATED AT THE METAL FRAME LOWER CORE SUPPORT FOR THE RADIATOR, WHICH WAS SEVERELY CORRODED. THE FRAME WAS ALSO CORRODED AND WOULD REQUIRE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE STEEL TUBES FOR THE BRAKE LINES WERE RECENTLY REPLACED DUE TO CORROSION. 2001 F150 XLT 4.2 V6 ELECTRONICAL CONTROL MODULE (ECM) SHORTED OUT CAUSING MALFUNCTION TO MY LIGHTS WINDOWS AND ALARM AND MY LOCKS AS WELL WHICH IS A THEFT CONCERN AND FIRE HAZARD AS WELL. I FEEL IN MY OPINION THAT THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AND SHOULD BE UNDER RECALL AND FIXED UNDER FORD I SPOKE WITH A TECH AT A FORD DEALERSHIP NEAREST ME AND HE TOLD ME THAT FORD HAS NOT STEPPED UP AND SAID ANYTHING. I FEEL THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND IS A BIG CONCERN FOR ME AND IM SURE ITS A CONCERN FOR OTHERS AS WELL. SO FORD IF YOU WANT BUSINESS AND YOU LOVE YOUR CUSTOMERS THIS WILL BE FIXED. *TR
