AT ~ 30,000 MILES, THE ENGINE (A 5.4 TRITON V8) BEGAN SOUNDING LIKE A DIESEL ENGINE. TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER "..RECALIBRATED THE CAM SENSOR..." AND STATED THE SOUND(S) WERE NORMAL FOR THIS ENGINE. I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TOLD ME SAME THING. THE NOISE IS GETTING LOUDER INDICATING THE PROBLEM IS WORSENING. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE BEFORE THE ENGINE SUFFERS A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE? *TR
I WAS IN A BANK DRIVE-UP DRIVING MY DAUGHTER''S 2004 FORD 150 TRUCK. WHEN I STARTED TO LEAVE THE TRUCK LURCHED AND THE ENGINE WENT TO FULL SPEED. I IMMEDIATELY APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT THEY DID NOTHING TO SLOW THE TRUCK. I WAS HEADED STRAIGHT FOR THE BANK WHERE THE TELLERS WERE, SO I TURNED SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT. THE TRUCK KEPT GOING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WITH ME TRYING TO STOP IT WITH THE BRAKES. IT SHOT THROUGH THE PARKING LOT AND ACROSS A VERY BUSY ROAD WHERE A CAR HIT ME. THE IMPACT OF THE OTHER CAR DIDN''T EVEN PHASE THE TRUCK. IT KEPT GOING, OVER THE CURB ACROSS THE STREET, THROUGH A BURGER KING PARKING LOT AND RAMMED INTO METAL STAIRS ON THE SIDE OF A JEWELRY STORE WHERE IT FINALLY STOPPED. I HIT THE STAIRCASE AT A TREMENDOUS RATE OF SPEED YET THE AIRBAGS DIDN''T DEPLOY. THE CAR THAT HIT ME WAS TOTALED AND THE DRIVER WENT TO THE HOSPITAL. MY DAUGHTER''S TRUCK WAS TOTALED AND I HAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL WITH INJURIES THAT TURNED OUT TO BE BRUISES ALL OVER MY BODY, ESPECIALLY ON MY LEGS. THE STAIRCASE WAS DESTROYED AND A CAR NEARBY HAD DAMAGE. THE INSURANCE WAS NOT ADEQUATE TO COVER ALL THE DAMAGE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY SENT SOMEONE OUT TO DO AN ENGINEERING REPORT ON THE TRUCK BUT HE COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE. THAT DIDN''T SURPRISE ME AS THERE WAS LITTLE LEFT TO INSPECT. THIS WAS DEFINITELY A MECHANICAL FAILURE. I DID NOT HAVE MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDDLE. I WAS TRYING TO STOP THE TRUCK WITH THE BRAKES AND STEERING TO AVOID PEOPLE AND OTHER OBSTACLES. FORD NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS AS IT IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FLAW OR DEFECT. I AM GOING TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR A LOT OF MONEY TO REPAIR THE DAMAGE THAT THE INSURANCE DIDN''T PAY.
MY F-150 SUPERCREW HAS DEVELOPED A PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVETRAIN, PRIMARILY A LOUD GRINDING NOISE CAN BE HEARD UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK. THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED I THOUGHT MY VEHICLE HAD RUN OVER SOME TYPE OF METALLIC OBJECT ON THE ROADWAY. THE NOISE WENT AWAY AFTER I MERGED ONTO A HIGHWAY. FOUR DAYS LATER I WAS OPERATING ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE SAME TYPE NOISE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE GAS IS DEPRESSED AND THE NOISE DOES NOT DECREASE WHEN THE GAS IS LET OFF. ONLY AFTER DECREASING SPEED UNDER 15 MPH DOES THE NOISE GO AWAY AND THE TRANSMISSION FEELS LIKE IT SLAMS OUT OF GEAR JUST PRIOR TO THAT. AN ASSOCIATE OF MINE WHO OWNS A 2005 F-150 WITH THE EXACT SAME TRANSMISSION EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AND RECENTLY HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. I CONTACTED THIS DEALER WHO INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAD REPLACED APPROXIMATELY 30 TRANSMISSIONS ON 2004-2005 MODEL YEARS AND THE ISSUE WAS A "KNOWN ONE". I WOULD LIKE TO SEE FORD MANDATED TO WARRANTY THE DRIVETRAINS IN THESE TRUCKS BEYOND THE NORMAL PERIOD. *NM
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE REPAIR SHOP FOR A SLOW LEAK ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE SO THE MECHANIC PLUGGED THE TIRE. WHILE MOUNTING THE TIRE TO THE VEHICLE IT EXPLODED. THE EXPLOSION WAS CAUSED BY SEPARATION OF THE TIRE BEADS. THE MECHANIC MOUNTED THE SPARE TIRE. AFTER DRIVING TEN MILES THE SPARE TIRE BLEW ALSO DUE TO TIRE BEAD SEPARATION. THE TIRE BEADS WERE COMPLETELY SEVERED IN BOTH FAILURES. THE FAILED TIRE BRAND IS HANKOOK DYNAPRO, SIZE, P235/75R17. TL*- WHILE DRIVING 40-45 MPH THE 2004 FORD F-150 WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL IMPACT THAT TORE THE ENTIRE RIGHT SIDE OFF. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEACTIVATED. NO WARNING AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE PRESENT. THE CONTACT HAS COPIES OF THE POLICE REPORT. *AK
HOOD PAINT AND ROOF PAINT PEELING UP FOR THE LAST 7 YEARS. IT STARTED WITH SMALL BLISTERING AND WHAT APPEARED TO BE JUST A FEW KNICKS ON THE HOOD. HOWEVER IT QUICKLY SPREAD AND THE ENTIRE HOOD AS WELL AS ROOF ARE IN NEED OF A PAINT JOB DUE TO RUST. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND HAVE APPS 129000 MILES ON IT.
DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE @ 55MPH THE TRUCK HAS A VIBRATION -BEGINS TO SHAKE- RETURNED TO DEALER NO PROBLEM FOUND, THIS STORY GOES ON AND ON I HAVE REPLACED OUT OF MY POCKET ROTORS, CALIBERS TWO WHOLE SET OF TIRES AND STILL TO THIS DAY IS STILL WILL SHAKE @ AND AROUND 52 MPH TO 57 MPH NOBODY WILL HELP ME FIND THE PROBLEM NOW IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY FORD DOESN'T CARE. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 F-150 4X4 4 DOOR. THE REAR DRIVER DOOR DOES NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE WHEN UNLOCKED FROM THE INSIDE DOOR LOCK. IT HAS POWER LOCKS. SOMETIMES IF YOU OPEN THE DOOR IN ONE SWIFT MOTION IT WILL OPEN. IT WILL HOWEVER OPEN HALFWAY, BUT THEN STOPS AND YOU CAN'T GET OUT. I HAVE INFORMED THE DEALER WHEN IT WAS IN ON A WINDOW PROBLEM AND THEY SAID IT WOULD NOT DO IT TO THEM, BUT THEY MADE NOTE. NOW IT WON'T OPEN IF UNLOCKED FROM THE INSIDE, BUT I HAVE FOUND THAT IF YOU UNLOCK IT WITH THE KEY PAD THE DOOR OPENS MOST OF THE TIME. I HAVE ONLY FOUND THIS PROBLEM FROM THE INSIDE YOU CAN OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE NO MATTER WHERE YOU UNLOCK IT FROM. *NM
RIMS ON THE VEHICLE ARE SPLITTING APART AT THE WELDS ON THE BEAD OF THE RIM WHERE THE TIRE BEAD SEATS CAUSING THE RIM TO WARP WHILE DRIVING. THERE HAS BEEN THREE OF THESE ON THIS SAME VEHICLE THAT HAS SPLIT APART IN THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. *JB
STATE OF NEVADA TRAFFIC ACCIDENT REPORT. 2004 FORD F-150. COLLISION OCCURRED IN WHICH THE PASSENGERS WERE EJECTED FROM THE VEHICLES. *MC *TR UPDATED*JB
ENGINE MAKES A TAPPING NOISE AT HEAD COVERS. *TR
AT 9000 MILES THE BRAKE ROTORS WARPED AND WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THE PADS WERE NOT. THE ROTORS BEGAN WARPING AGAIN AND WERE MACHINED TO REMOVE THE WARPING AT 34000 MILES BUT AGAIN THE PADS WERE NOT REPLACED. AT 37000 THE ROTORS WARPED AGAIN AND NOW AT 39000 THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. FORD CLAIMS THIS IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND WILL NOT AUTHORIZE REPAIRS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. FORD SAYS THE CONSUMER MUST PAY THE COST TO REPLACE THE ROTORS AND PADS. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE LEFT FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE SIDEWALL SEPARATED WITHOUT WARNING. THERE WERE NO OBVIOUS ROAD HAZARDS PRESENT. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE TIRE WITH A SPARE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT ALERTED. THE TIRE WAS A HANKOOK, SIZE DYNAPRO AS P235/70R17, AND DOT NUMBER OF T79CP. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHEN WEARING INSULATED OR HEAVY WORK BOOTS, THE SHOE WOULD INADVERTENTLY ENGAGE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. HE ALSO EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHEN ATTEMPTING TO APPLY THE BRAKES BECAUSE THE SHOE WAS TOO BIG AND WOULD ALSO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS WERE TOO CLOSE TO ONE ANOTHER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
WITHIN A COUPLE YEARS OF MANUFACTURE NOTICED OXIDATION APPEARING ON UNDERSIDE OF HOOD, AND SOME PAINT BLISTERING ON FRONT EDGE OF UPPER SIDE OF HOOD. THESE ISSUES HAVE WORSENED OVER TIME
NOTICING WATER LEAK FROM EITHER THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT OR THE TOP OF THE REAR WINDOW INTO THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. REAR WINDOW IS NOT THE STYLE THAT OPENS. *JB
I HAVE A 2004 FORD F150. I HAVE HAD TO REPAIR ALL FOUR OF THE POWER WINDOWS. THE WINDOWS WOULD JUST SLIDE DOWN INTO THE DOOR FRAME. ALL FOUR TIMES THE FORD DEALER HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR. NOW I SEE FROM THE INTERNET I AM NOT ALONE. COULD YOU PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE AND MAYBE MAKE FORD RECALL THE TRUCK AND FIX THIS ISSUE AND REIMBURSE PEOPLE LIKE ME WHO HAD TO PAY TO FIX THE WINDOWS. I AM SURE THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE BATTERY LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE ALTERNATOR GAUGE DROPPED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ALTERNATOR CAUSED THE FAILURE AND THEY MADE THE REPLACEMENT. APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR LATER, WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR AGAIN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWO MORE TIMES UNDER THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS THE CAUSE OF EACH FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,100 AND CURRENT MILEAGE IS 26,200. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND THE FRONT AND REAR ROTORS WERE REPLACED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE IN THE IDLE POSITION FOR 30 OR MORE SECONDS, THE VEHICLE DRIFTED INTO REVERSE WHEN THE CONSUMER BEGAN TO ACCELERATE FROM IDLE POSITION. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING NORMALLY. HOWEVER, THE CENTRAL COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE RESET. I HAVE JUST LEFT MY DEALER WITH SOME DISAPPOINTING NEWS. THE VIBRATION I AM ENCOUNTERING WITH MY 04 F150 IS DUE TO THE WHEEL HUBS BEING ENGINEERED OUT OF ACCEPTABLE TOLERANCE. THAT IS TO SAY THE ISSUE HAS BEEN FIXED FOR THE 05 AND 06 MODELS. IT HAS BEEN EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE WHEELS AND HUBS MUST BE "INDEXED" FOR THE BOTTOM BASEMANT PRICE OF $396.00. THIS PROCESS WILL HAVE TO BE DONE EVERYTIME YOU MOVE OR REPLACE A TIRE. FORD HAS INDICATED TO ME THAT THIS IS THE ONLY FIX FOR THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION AND THAT THE CONSUMERS ARE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS PROCESS ALTHOUGH IT IS THEIR ENGINEERING FOUL UP. IT WAS ALSO INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD DO THE INDEXING FOR A REDUCED AMOUNT AS LONG AS I PURCHASE MY TIRES AND MY ROTATIONS FROM THEM! LUCKILY MY DEALER HAS ENOUGH GOOD SENSE TO DO THIS PROCESS (ONE THAT SHOULD BY THE WAY NEVER HAVE TO BE DONE) FOR FREE. OF THE 26 VEHICHLES I AHVE OWNED, I HAVE NEVER AND I MEAN NEVER HAD TO OR HEARD OF INDEXING THE WHEELS AND HUBS IN ORDER TO GET MY CAR TO QUIT SHAKING!!! MY VEHICLE IS F150 SUPERCREW LARIAT. THE VEHICLE HAS 80KMIL. IT HAS BEEN RUNNING VERY SLUGGISHLY AND IDLES HARD IN A COMPLETE STOP. THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM WITH THE TRUCK ENGINE AS 2C OILS BURNED AND 2PZT2FE SPARK PLUGS SPLIT IN HALF--WHITE MIDDLE COVER OF PLUG PLUG STILL LODGED INTO ENGINE. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A SMELL OF GASOLINE WHICH ENTERED THE HOME WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED. THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL # 04V200000 WHICH PERTAINS TO THE GASOLINE TANK ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE HAS GENERAL AMERITRAC TR TIRES, SIZE 8T25570R17. THE TIRES BLEW OUT TWICE WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH. THE SIDEWALL OF THE PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT ONE YEAR AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE SECOND BLOWOUT WAS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE AND OCCURRED THE SAME WAY AS BEFORE. THE FIRST BLOWOUT WAS REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 30,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.*AK
WINDOW REGULATOR IS PLASTIC AND BREAKS CAUSING THE WINDOW TO FALL INTO DOOR. THIS IS THE THIRD WINDOW REGULATOR TO BREAK. *NM
RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER 05T022000; I HAVE A 2004 F-150 WITH THE CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC TIRE ON IT ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES AFTER JUST 35000 MILES OF LIFE. THIS IS A 50000 MILE TIRE. I FEEL THIS RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO THE 2004 MODEL YEAR F-150 AS WELL. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR WITHOUT WARNING. THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS FELL WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN. THE FAILURES OCCUR WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. THE REGULATORS IN EACH WINDOW HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REGULATOR FAILED DUE TO HEAT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 53,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
ALL 4 WINDOW REGULATORS HAVE FAILED ON MY 2004 FORD F150 WHEN TRYING TO RAISE OR LOWER THE POWER WINDOW. FIRST ONE OCCURRED IN 2006, 2ND IN 2007, 3RD IN 2009 AND 4TH EARLY IN 2010. HAVE FIXED THE FIRST TWO AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $600. THE FORD DEALER GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF $750 TO FIX THE TWO THAT ARE BROKEN NOW. *TR

MY 04 FORD F150 SUPERCREW 4X4, AT 10,000 MILES NOTICED BRAKES AND ROTORS STARTING TO WEAR. AT 17,000 MILES THEY WERE DESTROYED. TALKED TO THE DEALER AND HE SAID THAT IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND WOULD COST ME OVER $400 TO FIX IT. THE TRUCKS UNDER WARRANTY, WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR A MANUFACTURER FLAW IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM. I CALLED FORD DIRECT AND GOT SOMEONE WHO WAS READING ANSWERS OUT OF A BOOK AND WAS ABSOLUTELY NO HELP. I E-MAILED FORD AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS ALL DEALERS ARE INDEPENDENT AND CAN CHARGE WHATEVER THEY WANT!! AND NEVER DID GIVE ME AN ANSWER ABOUT MY BRAKES. I FINALLY TALKED TO A FRIEND WHO'S FATHER IA HIGH UP THE FORD LADDER. HE HAD SOMEONE GIVE ME A "DEAL" AND REPAIR MY TRUCK AT A SMALL COST. WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO GET A "DEAL" WHEN MY TRUCK IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY? NEW BRAKES HAVE 500 MILES ON THEM AND ALREADY SEE THE NEW ROTORS STARTING TO GROOVE!!! FORD HAS NOT HELPED ONE BIT IN THIS PROBLEM I OWN TWO FORDS, CANT WAIT TO GET RID OF THEM. THERE WILL BE NO MORE FORDS IN THIS FAMILY!! *NM
THE 2004 F150 SC HAS A FEW PROBLEMS: FIRST WAS THE WATER LEAKING FROM THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT IN WHICH I HAD TO APPLY SILICONE AROUND THE RUBBER SEAL OF THE LIGHT...NEVER LEAKED AGAIN. SECOND ISSUE WAS FAR MORE FRUSTRATING, WHEN TRAVELING AROUND 40 TO 50 MPH WHEN DECIDING TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY THE TRUCK WOULD ACT AS IF IT WAS BEING STARVED OF FUEL. THE BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE IT WAS BY DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR AND RELEASING IT VERY QUICKLY. I TOOK IT TO THE WONDERFUL FORD DEALERSHIP, SARCASTIC, AND THEY TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG, AND SHOP MANAGER TOLD ME IT WAS BECAUSE OF COLD AIR INTAKE... FINALLY ,AFTER CALLING FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND COMPLAINING THE DEALERSHIP DECIDED IT WAS MY THROTTLE BODY...NATURALLY ALL MY PROBLEMS WERE GONE. NOW, LESS THAN A YEAR LATER THE PROBLEM AROSE AGAIN AND I WILL POST THE OUTCOME ONCE KNOWN. THE THIRD INCIDENCE WAS THE FRONT BUCKET SEATS, STARTED NOTICING SHREDDED FOAM UNDER THE FRONT PART OF THE SEATS, NOT KNOWING WHAT IT COULD BE I ASSUMED IT WAS EXCESS FOAM AROUND THE SEAT STRAPS LOCATED UNDER EACH SEAT, TO MY SURPRISE A HOLE APPEARED ON THE DRIVER'S SEAT ON THE FRONT LEFT CORNER FACING THE DOOR AND AGAIN I WENT TO THE WONDERFUL DEALERSHIP AND I SHOWED THEM THERE WAS A PIECE OF METAL WITH A SHARP BARB THAT WAS SLOWLY SHREDDING THE FOAM AND WAS THE CULPRIT IN CREATING THE HOLE AND THE SHREDDED FOAM. CAUTION!!!!!! IF YOUR TRUCK HAS THIS PROBLEM BE CAREFUL!!! I WAS GETTING OUT OF THE TRUCK AND THE METAL BARB CAUGHT MY PANTS AND TORE A HUGE HOLE AND GAVE ME A PRETTY DEEP CUT ON THE INNER THIGH. NONE THE LESS THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I FINALLY CONVINCED THEM TO REPLACE THE SEAT WITH ME PAYING FOR THE REPLACEMENT COST...BUT, BEFORE I COULD GET THE WORK DONE THE WONDERFUL DEALERSHIP WENT OUT OF BUSINESS AND I HAVEN'T HIT-UP THE NEW OWNERS. *AK

I HAVE DISCOVERED WHAT MAY BE A FACTORY DEFECT IN THE 2004 FORD F150 TRUCK IN RELATION TO DESIGN AND APPLICATION. I JUST SPENT $500 IN PUTTING ON NEW FRONT ROTORS ON MY TRUCK, HOWEVER THERE WAS PLENTY OF LIFE LEFT ON THE FRONT PADS. SO IF THE ROTORS HAVE TO BE REPLACED AFTER 40,000 MILES WHEN THE FRONT PADS ARE STILL GOOD, THEN THERE IS A PROBLEM. *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATORS WERE DEFECTIVE AND WOULD INDEPENDENTLY OPEN TO BUT WOULD NOT CLOSE. THE DEALER REPLACED THREE OF THE WINDOW REGULATORS AND THE FOURTH WINDOW REGULATOR WAS REPLACED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 59,500 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000.
TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP SIX MOTHS AGO HAD VIBRATIONS COMING FROM THE CAR AND STEERING. TOOK CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. SIX MONTHS LATER PROBLEM KEPT RECURRING AND TOOK CAR TO INDEPENDENT SHOP AND WAS ADVISED I NEEDED RIGHT UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINT. THIS IS A 2004 F150 FX4 THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ON A BARELY 2 YEAR OLD CAR. I'M LUCKY MY CAR DID NOT BUCK ON ME ON THE ROAD. *JB

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELTS ALWAYS HAD PROBLEMS SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, AT ONLY 13000 MILES. THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE WOULD ONLY LOCK AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. EVENTUALLY, A PIECE IN THE SEAT BELT CONNECTOR FRACTURED AND THE BELT WILL NOT LATCH AT ALL. THE BELT AND LATCH ARE FREE OF OTHER DIRT AND CONTAMINANTS. THERE WERE NO PICTURES OR INVOICE AVAILABLE.
FAILURE OF REAR CALIPERS ON 2004 FORD F-150 TRUCK CAUSING TIRES TO LOCK UP OR VIOLENT SHAKING IN FRONT END. *NM
WHILE TRAVELING ON I-10 VEHICLE VIBRATED VIOLENTLY. ONCE WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH AND ONCE AT 65 MPH. DURING THE INCIDENTS THE VIBRATION WAS NOT ISOLATED TO ONE PART OF THE VEHICLE BUT THE WHOLE VEHICLE VIBRATED. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE THE NEXT DAY IN DAYLIGHT I NOTICED THE FOLLOWING: 1. ALL WHEEL RIMS WERE COMPLETELY COVERED WITH BRAKE DUST. EVEN THOUGH I HAD JUST WASHED THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO STARTING THE 1,000 MILE TRIP FROM HOUSTON, TX TO GREEN COVE SPRINGS, FL. 2. ALL WHEEL RIMS HAD WHAT WAS EITHER BRAKE FLUID OR MELTED WHEEL GREASE ON THE SURFACE. 3. ALL FOUR TIRES WERE DAMAGED BY THE VIBRATION I.E., TREAD HAD STARTED TO DELAMINATE FROM THE TIRE. TIRES HAD APPROXIMATELY 28,000 MILES AT THE START OF TRIP AND WERE IN GOOD CONDITION WITH NO TIRE WORN TO WEAR BAR. 4. ALL FOUR TIRES HAD SCUFF MARKS THAT APPEARED AS IF THE TIRES HAD BEEN RUN LOW ON AIR. 5. THE FRONT ROTORS ON THE OUTSIDE SURFACE WERE THE BRAKE PAD MADE CONTACT WERE GROOVED BEYOND WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN PRESENT ON A VEHICLE WITH 29,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. METAL SHAVINGS WERE PRESENT ON THE FRONT WHEEL RIMS. 6. THE REAR ROTORS WERE ALSO GROOVED ON THE OUTSIDE WITH THE INSIDE APPEARING AS IF THE BRAKE PAD WAS NOT MAKING CONTACT WITH THE ROTOR SURFACE I.E., ONLY OUTSIDE PAD IS MAKING PROPER CONTACT. I TOOK THE 2004 FORD F-150 TO THE FORD DEALER LOCATED IN GREEN COVE SPRINGS, FL FOR CORRECTION OF THE ABOVE PROBLEMS. SERVICE MANAGER INITIALLY RESISTED ADMITTING THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE UNTIL A MAINTENANCE TECH WALKED BY AND SAID HE HAD A "TSB ON THAT". DEALER SUBSEQUENTLY REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS, CALIPERS, AND PADS. HOWEVER, THE SERVICE MANAGER WOULD NOT ADMIT THE VIBRATION CAUSED THE DAMAGE TO THE TIRES. THE REAR CALIPERS, ROTORS, AND PADS WERE NOT SERVICED OR CHANGED. FURTHER, THE SERVICE MANAGER COULD NOT OR WOULD NOT ADMIT TO ORIGINAL PROBLEM WITH THE VIBRATION BEING FIXED. *JB
1) UNKNOWN EVENTS LEADING TO FAILURE, NORMAL DRIVING, EVENTS HAPPENED WHEN I FIRST TURNED ON VEHICLE AND DURING BACKING UP .2) THE ENGINE RACED OUT OF CONTROL AND LURCHED UNTIL IGNITION KEY WAS REMOVED (IT GRABS THE GAS PEDAL FROM THE DRIVER LIKE CRUISE CONTROL DOES) IF SOMEONE OR SOMETHING IS IN VEHICLE'S PATH IT OR THEY WILL BE CRASHED INTO. THEN THE VEHICLE AND 8 CYLINDER RUNS LIKE ITS ON 4 CYL AND THE AIR CONDITIONER DOESN'T WORK. 3) TAKEN TO FORD DEALER COASTAL FORD IN MOBILE AL,THEY REBOOTED COMPUTER BUT WOULD NOT REPLACE COMPUTER BOARD, THEY SAID JUST BRING IT BACK FOR REBOOT IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN, DIAGNOSTIC DID NOT REVEAL REASON FOR RACING ENGINE THEY WERE NOT CONCERNED THAT IF THE EVENTS HAPPENED AGAIN AN ACCIDENT COULD NOT BE PREVENTED OR THE TRUCK BEING DESTROYED WHICH MEANS IT COULD NOT BE TAKEN BACK FOR REBOOT OR HOW TO PREVENT THIS EVENT .I WANTED THEM TO REPLACE THE SUPPOSEDLY DEFECTIVE COMPUTER BOARD (IN MY OPINION THAT'S THE PROBLEM) OLD PART STILL IN VEHICLE .NO DAMAGES YET BUT SINCE I PROFESSIONALLY BASS FISH, I COULD BE RUN OVER,THE TRUCK MIGHT RACE INTO THE WATER,OR SOMEONE ELSE AND THEIR EQUIPMENT COULD BE RUN OVER AND IF BACKING INTO THE GARAGE WITH A BOAT THE HOUSE AND BOAT COULD BE DAMAGED OR IF THE BOAT TRAILER HAS TO BE DEALT WITH THE PERSON BEHIND THE TRUCK COULD BE RUN OVER. 2004 F150 EXTENDED CAB V8 ENGINE TRUCK IS THE VEHICLE. 6 EVENTS OVER THE LAST 4 MONTHS (IT JUST CAME OUT OF SOME OF ITS WARRANTIES, FORD DEALER SAID THE COMPUTER WAS WARRANTED FOR 8 MORE YEARS)*JB
FELT LIKE A FLAT FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, BUT THERE WAS NO FLAT. HEAVY VIBRATION. DEALER CAN'T SERVICE UNDER WARRANTY WITHOUT DUPLICATING IT. PUT MY HAND ON RIGHT REAR ROTOR, IT WAS HOT AND THE OTHER 3 ROTORS WERE NOT. I SUSPECT IT IS A BAD PISTON IN CALIPER OR A FAULTY E-BRAKE. I AM GOING BACK TO DEALER AGAIN. *NM
DEFECTIVE B. F GOODRICH LONG TRAIL TA TIRES (265R60 18) FORD F150 LARIAT APPEAR TO HAVE A DESIGN DEFECT CAUSING A VERY HARSH RIDE & SHUDDERING UPON STOPPING. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP IN THE RAIN, THE SHUDDERING CAUSED THE ANTI LOCK BRAKE MODULE TO MALFUNCTION AND RESULTED IN LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. FORD IS AWARE OF THE TIRE DEFECT (A LETTER WAS RECEIVED) YET HAS DECLINED TO REPLACE THE TIRES. *NM
I HAVE HAD BRAKE PROBLEMS SINCE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE LATEST IS THE BRAKES LOCKING UP (MOSTLY FRONT) AND THE WHEELS GETTING SO HOT YOU CAN SMELL THEM BURNING AND YOU CAN'T TOUCH THE WHEEL. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED SEVERAL TIMES AT SEVERAL DIFFERENT SERVICE STATIONS STARTING AT THE DEALER AND THE PROBLEM KEEPS RETURNING. I HAVE HAD NEW ROTORS INSTALLED SEVERAL TIMES (5), NEW CALIPERS TWICE, NEW BRAKE HOSES, FLUSH AND FILL BRAKE FLUID AND HAD THE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD ADJUSTED ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM CONTINUE. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AT THE FORUMS ABOUT F-150'S AND I AM NOT ALONE AND NO ONE HAS ANY ANSWERS. I EMAILED FORD ASKING FOR HELP AND THEY ADVISED ME TO SEE THE DEALER WHICH I ALREADY HAVE SEVERAL TIMES AND EVERY TIME THEY SAY THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THE LAST TIME THEY ADJUSTED THE PUSH ROD WHICH LASTED A LITTLE WHILE. SERVICE BULLETIN SAYS NORMAL AND TO NOT REPAIR, YET MY ISSUE IS NOT INTERMITTENT AND IS A SIGNIFICANTLY NOTICEABLE AND UNCOMFORTABLE JERK IN THE DRIVELINE THAT IS DEFINITELY NOT NORMAL PERFORMANCE FROM ANY TRANSMISSION AWARE OF WITHOUT A VERY AGGRESSIVE SHIFT KIT INSTALLED AND A PLETHORA OF HORSEPOWER. TOOK TO DEALER AND SERVICE TECH HANDED ME SERVICE BULLETINS AND DIDN'T EVEN LOG INTO COMPUTER THAT VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR THE ISSUE. MADE NOTES AND SENT TO SHOP FOREMAN AS COMMUNICATION OF MY CONCERN ABOUT THE LACK OF PAPERWORK AND RECORD, AND THE LACK OF SERVICE. TECHNICIAN DROVE TRUCK AND SAID THIS WAS NORMAL...WOULD NEVER BUY A VEHICLE KNOWING THAT IT WOULD END UP SHIFTING LIKE THIS AS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. *JB
DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF LIGHT DUTY TRUCK, ESTIMATED SPEED AT 50 TO 60 MILES PER HOUR, TELEPHONE POLE WAS SHEARED COMPLETELY OFF FROM GROUND, TRUCK CONTINUED SEVERAL MORE FEET AND CAME TO REST AFTER HITTING A TREE. NEITHER THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER AIR BAG WAS DEPLOYED ON IMPACT. CRASH RESULTED IN DEATH OF DRIVER. *JB
I HAD TO REPLACE MY BRAKE ROTORS AND CALIPERS DUE TO CORROSION AFTER ONLY 18000 MILES, AND AGAIN AFTER ABOUT 35,000 AND 60,000 MILES DUE TO CORROSION. ON TWO OCCASION, THIS PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED WHEN THE BRAKES COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AND THE VEHICLE COULD NOT MOVE. MUCH OF MY DRIVING IS ON SNOW-COVERED ROADS WITH ROAD SALT, BUT I ROUTINELY USE A CAR WASH WITH UNDERCARRIAGE WASH FREQUENTLY -- ABOUT ONCE PER WEEK. MICE HAVE EATEN THROUGH THE WIRES TO MY FUEL SENDING UNIT. SEVERAL MONTHS AGO THE DID ATE THROUGH MANY WIRES IN MY ENGINE COMPARTMENT. IT IS MY VIEW THAT THIS PRESENTS A SEVERE POTENTIAL FOR FIRE WHICH COULD EASILY INJURE OR KILL. THESE HAVE BEEN EXPENSIVE REPAIRS THAT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED IF FORD HAD NOT SKIMPED ON PROTECTION OF THEIR WIRING HARNESSES. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT FORD THAT CLAIMS THEIR VEHICLES ARE BUILT FORD TOUGH CAN'T BE PROTECTED FROM A SMALL RODENT. THE FIRST INCIDENT IN AUGUST OF 2005 COST OVER $1500 TO REPAIR AND THIS SECOND INCIDENT IS ESTIMATED AT APPROX $500. *NM
ON THE FORD F-150 TRUCKS MINE IS A 2004 THE SPARE TIRES ARE MOUNTED WITH THE AIR FILLER VALVE MOUNTED ON THE TOP SIDE. YOU CAN NOT GET AT THE AIR VALVE TO CHECK TIRE PRESSURE. THE ONLY WAY IS TO REMOVE JACK HANDLE FROM REAR SEATING AREA AND FOLLOW THE PROCEDURES TO LOWER THE TIRE. WELL THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN SO WHEN YOU NEED THE SPARE USUALLY IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION THE TIRE COULD BE UNDER INFLATED OR PERHAPS FLAT. I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT FORD AND THE WILL NOT RESPOND TO MY COMPLAINT. PLEASE CAN YOU HELP ME AND THOUSANDS OF OTHERS MANY WHO ARE NOT EVEN AWARE OF THIS. THE SELLING DEALERS SERVICE MANAGER WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS UNTIL I QUESTIONED THEM. I ALSO HAVE A 2005 FORD ESCAPE AND THE SPARE IS MOUNTED WITH AIR VALVE DOWN SO CHECKING AIR IS NOT AN ISSUE.
