The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated while the mechanic was attempting to rotate the tires, it was discovered that the lug nuts on all four wheels were swollen and could not be easily removed. The contact was informed that the lug nuts would be damaged while being removed to rotate the tires. The lug nuts were removed, and the tires were rotated. The lug nuts were replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 154,000.
I bought a set of 4 of these tires at the BIG O store at 2420 W. Northern Phoenix Az, on 12/2022. Within the first year I began to feel a wobble on the front. Then one day I woke up to the left drivers side tire flat, so I took it to Big O and they replaced the tire because a big screw went through the tread to where they had to replace it, plus it had a bubble on the tread. Then they rotated the tires. So the new tire was on the left rear and the old CXV was on the front. So months later, I started feeling the front start to wobble again. I looked at the left front (CXV) tire and found that it had a big bubble on the better part of a quarter of the tread portion of the tire. I took it back to Big O tire and they replaced it again. They said it was due to the heat. But they marked the right front tire with yellow crayon where the bubble on this tire was. But said nothing about it. Then a week or two ago I started feeling the wobble again So I saw That the right front tire had a bubble on the tread again. This was the same tire that BIG O had marked and let me drive away with. So 3 tires of the CXV performer have had the bubbles on the better part of 30-50% of the tread. I have not got this tire fixed yet. I was going to go back to Michelin's or Yokohama. The tire is very bad. I called the BIG O tire and they said it was because I have not rotated the tires as often as I should have. They said it was going to cost me the same price for the new one. I told them I wanted this tire back as I was going to send it to NHTSA. Then the guy said, "oops your still under warranty, we can replace it for the price of the warranty certificates. We havent had any problems with those tires." I wonder if this is true? My niece bought tires from BIG O same make and had the same problem with her tires. Please investigate this before someone dies or gets hurt from these tires falling apart at high speeds. I am out the money for new tires.
Wheel Lug Nuts were swollen and couldn't be removed. This is a known issue by Ford. It prevents you from changing the tire and is a critical safety concern.
The glue that holds the plastic covers on the aluminum wheels has failed and two of the plastic covers have fallen off. The covers and wheels are available for inspection. The one cover fell off while driving down a local main road in our city. When I saw it fall off, I returned to the area where it was laying in the street to retrieve it. Before retrieving it I saw some cars swerve to miss it and at least one run it over. If this happened on the freeway at higher speeds who knows what could have occurred and therefore I have since removed the remaining two covers that were still attached. One seemed rather loose and was likely to fall off sooner than latter and other was still adhered rather well. No inspection occurred by the manufacturer as this appears to be a common problem with these plastic covers. To reattach them to the wheels it appears that the gluing system is proprietary. No warning lamps or messages present.

I SEEN THERE IS A RECALL ON COOPER TIRES. THE COOPER TIRES I HAVE ON MY TRUCK IS NOT ON THE LIST BUT, ON 02/17/2021 ONE OF MY FRONT TIRES DID WHAT THEY CLAIM THE TIRES ON RECALL DO. I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND MY LOW TIRE LIGHT COME ON AND INSTANTLY MY TIRE WENT FLAT AND WAS TOLD IT WAS UN-REPAIRABLE. I HAD REPLACE THAT TIRE AND ALSO I REPLACED THE OTHER SIDE SO BOTH WOULD HAVE THE SAME TRADE WEAR.

TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED THAT ALL MY LUG NUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WERE SWOLLEN AND WERE VERY DIFFICULT TO REMOVE. THE SERVICE ADVISER AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE. I ASKED THAT ALL 24 LUG NUTS BE RETURNED. WHEN THEY WERE RETURNED THE SERVICE TECH WHO WORKED ON MY TRUCK ALSO SAID THAT THE LUG NUTS WERE A POOR DESIGN.
I STARTED MY TRUCK FOR WORK AND TURN ON REAR DEFROSTER AND THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED ON THE DRIVERS SIDE ALSO TWO WEEKS AGO MY TIRE ALMOST FELL OFF AFTER 3 LUG NUTS BROKE M AND 1 WAS MISSING
BF GOODRICH BF15L3110317 TIRE BLEW OUT WHILE DRIVING TO WORK. ON THE WAY TO WORK ON 11/05/18 WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I SUDDENLY HEARD A RUMBLING SOUND COMING FROM THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE AND IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO THE GUARD RAIL ON THE HIGHWAY. LUCKY FOR ME, NO OTHER CAR WAS BESIDE ME WHEN I HAD TO PULL OVER SO QUICKLY BEFORE CAUSING DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK OR ANYONE ELSE. I TOOK THE TIRE BACK TO WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND ASKED IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY RECALLS ON THAT SET OF TIRES PURCHASED IN 2017. THE SALES REPRESENTATIVE STATED NOTHING LISTED, BUT STRANGELY THE TIRE HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED FOR SALES. CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND GAVE THEM ALL THE INFORMATION ABOUT THE INCIDENT AND AWAITING CAR CARE CENTER TO CONTACT THEM WITH ALL THE DETAILS. HOPEFULLY THIS IS NOT A TREND WHERE OTHER CONSUMERS ARE AT RISK.
THE FACTORY LUG WRENCH PROVIDED WITH THE VEHICLE DOES NOT FIT THE FACTORY LUG NUTS ON THE WHEELS. THIS MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO CHANGE A FLAT TIRE WITHOUT ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE OR HAVING TO PURCHASE A SEPARATE LUG WRENCH AND HAMMER.
2011 FORD F-150 P/U , CONTINENTAL CROSSCONTACT LX 20 275/65 R18. TIRE TREAD IS STILL DEEP BUT THERE ARE AREAS ALL AROUND TIRE TREAD THAT ARE STARTING TO PEEL OFF. I KNOW OF RECALL BUT ON DIFFERENT SIZE TIRE, BUT SAME BRAND AND STYLE. SAFETY CONCERN!!
TRYING TO REPLACE TIRES ON THIS VEHICLE. FORD MANUFACTURED TRUCK WITH P235/75/R17 TIRES, AND THIS IS ON DOOR PLATE. NO ONE WILL SELL THIS SIZE TIRE FOR THIS TRUCK WHICH HAS TOWING PACKAGE, EXCEPT FORD. THE ONLY SIZE ANYONE WILL SELL IS P265/60/R18 OR P275/55/R20. ONE EXCEPTION: TIRE RACK WILL SELL P255/65/17 IF RIMS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION. TWO FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENTS EVEN HAD PROBLEMS. FORD MAINTAINS THAT IT IS FACTORY EQUIPMENT AND THEREFORE IS CORRECT FOR THE TRUCK. I BELIEVE AN ERROR MAY HAVE BEEN MADE AT THE FACTORY. I NEED NEW TIRES SOON AND I CANNOT GET FORD TO EVEN AGREE TO THE P255 SIZE TIRE. I AM CONCERNED THAT THESE TIRES ARE NOT SAFE FOR TOWING FOR THIS VEHICLE. I WOULD LIKE DEFINITIVE INFORMATION FROM A NON FORD SOURCE. I ALSO DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY NO ONE WILL SELL ME THE FACTORY SIZE TIRES FOR THIS TRUCK, EXCEPT FORD, OF COURSE. HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
LUG NUTS ON VEHICLE EXPAND SPLIT AND CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM WHEEL. VARIOUS MECHANICS AT COSTCO AND FORD DEALERSHIPS STATE THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. THE REPLACEMENT OF THE LUG NUTS COST $165.00 FOR TO REPLACE ON THE FOUR TIRES. AFTER REPLACING THE LUG NUTS BY AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER I WAS TOLD THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN. THE PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED WHEN I TRIED TO ROTATE THE TIRES. WHEN I PAID FOR THE REPLACEMENT AND ASKE3D FOR THE OLD PARTS I WAS TOLD THEY HAD ALREADY BEEN DISPOSED OF.
THE TIRE WENT FLAT WHILE DRIVING DUE TO A 5 - 6" SEPARATION IN THE CENTER OF THE TIRE. TWO TIRE STORES CONFIRMED IT APPEARED TO BE SEPARATION DUE TO MANUFACTURING. *TR
