DEALER REPORTED NO PROBLEM FOUND, NO CODES & MADE NO REPAIRS. 29,440MI: MISFIRE WHEN ACCELERATING & GOING UP & DOWN HILLS SPECIFICALLY WHEN IN 4,5, 6 GEAR DURING BOTH FLAT & INCLINED HIGHWAY DRIVING. THIS WAS WHILE PULLING AN 8000LB TRAILER. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. DEALER FOUND MISFIRE IN #1 & 4 AND REPLACED COILS & PLUGS IN #1 & #4 ONLY. TEST DRIVE STILL SHOWED MISFIRE, THEN REPLACED TURBO BOOST PRESSURE SENSOR. I WAS TOLD THAT MOISTURE HAD DAMAGED THE PLUGS & SENSOR. 35,214MI: MISFIRE WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP, DURING NORMAL ACCELERATION AND GOING UP HILLS.NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. DEALER REPLACED THE DRIVERS SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BECAUSE IT WAS WARPED. 37,164MI: MISFIRE WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP, DURING NORMAL ACCELERATION & GOING UP HILLS. I SAW THIS IN ACCELERATION CONDITIONS FROM 10-60MPH WITHOUT TOWING A TRAILER. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. DEALER REPORTED NO PROBLEM FOUND, NO CODES & MADE NO REPAIRS. 38,577MI: REPEATED SEVERE MISFIRES WHILE GOING UP MODERATE INCLINES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON (FIRST TIME THIS EVER HAPPENED) & I HAD A REDUCTION IN POWER, COULD NOT GET OUT OF 3RD GEAR & MY SPEED DROPPED FROM 65MPH TO 50MPH. AFTER REPAIR HAD MODERATE MISFIRES DURING MAJOR INCLINES WHILE TOWING A TRAILER BUT NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. 39,000MI: WHILE TOWING A TRAILER, EXPERIENCED SERIES OF MODERATE TO SEVERE MISFIRES IN WAVES BE OK FOR AN HOUR & THEN GO INTO A SERIES OF MISFIRES FOR 3-10 MINUTES. SOME WERE ON HILLS, SOME WERE ON FLAT HIGHWAY DRIVING. I HAD 5 OCCURRENCES WHERE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON DURING THIS DRIVE. 3 OF THESE WERE DURING A HILL CLIMB WHERE I HAD A POWER REDUCTION & LOST SPEED. VEHICLE STAYED IN 3RD GEAR. WHEN I WOULD GET A SERIES OF SEVERE MISFIRES, MISFIRES WERE SO SEVERE (WITHOUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON), THAT I COULD HEAR & FEEL THE TURBO KICK OFF & ON..

FORD FIXED MY REAR WINDOW, NO QUESTIONS ASKED....THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED....I STARTED MY TRUCK, PUT ON THE REAR DEFROST, DROVE OUT OF MY APARTMENT COMPLEX AND AS I WAS ABOUT TO EXIT THE COMPLEX I HEARD A LOUD POP/CRACK NOISE, I STOPPED, NO ONE WAS AROUND, (IT WAS 6AM IN THE MORNING), I CHECKED THE ENTIRE TRUCK TO SEE WHAT IT WAS AND THE BACK LEFT PART OF THE REAR WINDOW WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED!, NO SIGN OF IMPACT, JUST SHATTERED...APPARENTLY THERE IS NO RECALL OUT ON IT, SO IF IT HAS HAPPENED TO YOU OR DOES HAPPEN, TAKE IT IN!, WITH HOW MANY COMPLAINTS I HAVE ALREADY READ, IT MUST BE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT RELATED TO THE REAR DEFROST OR INSTALLATION OF THE WINDOW....
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CONTACT ACTIVATED THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTED AND MOMENTS LATER, THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS ADVISED THAT THE REAR WINDOW NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
VERY COLD MORNING, 3/4/2012, VEHICLE STARTED BY REMOTE AT 5:30AM. APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES AFTER STARTING, I WENT OUT, OPENED BOTH DRIVER SIDE DOORS, PUT MY GEAR IN THE BACK SEAT, CLOSED THE REAR DOOR, GOT IN THE DRIVER SEAT , CLOSED THE DOOR, PUT SEAT BELT ON, FOOT ON THE BRAKE, MOVED CONSOLE SHIFT LEVER TO R, WHEN A VERY LOUD BANG OCCURRED. IT SOUNDED LIKE A SHOTGUN. I LOOKED AROUND BUT DID NOT SEE ANYTHING. THOUGHT IT MAY HAVE BEEN A WINDOW, BUT COULD NOT TELL WITH SALT SPRAY ON WINDOWS AND DARKNESS. I DROVE ROUGHLY 12 MILES, PICKED UP A CO-WORKER WHO GOT IN AND ASKED IMMEDIATELY WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR REAR WINDOW? I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER A SHORT TIME LATER AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN TO BE LOOKED AT. I COULD NOT DO THAT UNTIL SATURDAY 3/8/14. WHEN THE DEALER CHECKED IT OUT, THEY SAID THEY WOULD CONTACT FORD AND THAT IT WOULD TAKE 8-10 DAYS FOR A DETERMINATION. THEY SEEMED TO BE UNAWARE OF A LARGER PROBLEM THAN JUST MY WINDOW. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE WEB, I FOUND THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT UNCOMMON IN THIS MODEL AND YEAR. ON MONDAY 3/10/14 AFTER WORK, I GOT IN MY TRUCK, ONLY TO HAVE MOST OF THE GLASS FALL OUT WHEN I CLOSED MY DOOR. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE IF THE DEALER HAD TAPED THE GLASS , I THOUGHT IT WAS LAMINATED. BECAUSE I NOW HAD A BIG HOLE IN WINDOW, I STOPPED AT A GLASS COMPANY, TO SEE HOW SOON THEY COULD REPLACE IT, WITH RAIN AND SNOW PREDICTED FOR MIDWEEK. WHEN THEY CALLED TO CHECK AVAILABILITY, THEY WERE TOLD THAT THERE WERE NONE AVAILABLE, THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM W/ THE DRIVER'S SIDE BLOWING OUT. I BELIEVE THAT FORD HAS KNOWN THIS FOR QUITE SOME TIME, AS EVIDENCED BY WEB BLOGS DOCUMENTING THE PROBLEM AND FORD'S DELAY OR DENIAL IN TAKING CARE OF THE PROBLEMS. SOME COMPLAINTS HAVE STATED THAT CHILDREN WERE IN THE REAR SEAT AT THE TIME OF THE IMPLOSION. I WOULD THINK THAT ANYONE EXPOSED TO THE NOISE THAT IT MAKES COULD BE SUBJECT TO HEARING LOSS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE AND JERK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS, BUT THE FAILURES CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS EVENTUALLY INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO REPAIR FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS A HORRIBLE SHUDDER OCCURS. I TOOK THE TRUCK IN FOR SERVICE AT 78000 MILES, MY WARRANTY RUNS OUT AT 80000. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS "NORMAL FOR 157 INCH WHEELBASE TRUCKS" IS THERE ANY HELP AVAILABLE FOR THIS? ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, SNOW HAS ENTERED THE DRIVER CABIN THROUGH THE DASH VENTILATION SYSTEM AND BLOWN SNOW INTO THE CAB AND CAUSED MOISTURE TO FREEZE TO THE INSIDE OF THE FRONT AND SIDE WINDOWS. THE ICE FORMS IN A FEW SECONDS AND MOSTLY BLOCK FORWARD VISIBILITY AND VIEW OF THE SIDE MIRRORS. THE VEHICLE COOLANT GAUGE IS SHOWING THE TRUCK IS WARMED AND HOT AIR IS BLOWING FROM DEFROST VENTS BUT NOT CAPABLE TO MELT OR CLEAR ICE OR IMPROVE VISIBILITY, EVEN AFTER 20 MINUTES. I HAVE TO SCRAPE THE ICE WITH MY HAND TO CREATE A PEEP HOLE SO I CAN SEE. ON ONE OCCASION WHEN THE EVENT HAPPENED, THE STREETS AND LANDSCAPE WERE BLANKETED WITH WHITE SNOW AND ICE AND IT BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT FOR ME TO FOLLOW THE ROAD AND SAFELY EXIT. I WAS SCARED I WAS GOING TO CRASH INTO ANOTHER CAR OR DRIVE/SLIDE OFF THE ROAD. THE DEALER HAS INSPECTED MY TRUCK AND FOUND THE VENTILATION TO BE CLEAN (NO SNOW OR ICE BUILD UP) AND THE INTAKE SCREEN TO BE PROPERLY PLACED. PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURRING. *TR
SUNROOF SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE WEATHER WAS NICE ABOUT 60 DEGREES AND CLEAR SKIES. THERE WERE NOT ANY CARS IN THE SAME VICINITY AS MY TRUCK. NOTHING HIT THE GLASS, IT JUST SHATTERED OUT OF NOWHERE.THE SOUND WAS EXTREMELY LOUD AND THE GLASS WAS PUSHED OUTWARD. *TR
WHEN ACCELERATING TO MERGE ONTO 4 LANE BYWAY VEH. LOST ALL POWER STARTED ENG MISS. THROTTLE HAD NO EFFECT, COASTED ALONG IN EMERGENCY LANE FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS. VEH STARTED TO ACCELERATE WHILE STILL MISSING FOR ABOUT 5 MORE SECONDS. 3/4 FUEL TANK. PS WAS A AUTO TECH. FOR 28 YEARS WITH U.S.P.S. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ALONG WITH NO ONE VERY CLOSE TO ME AND I HEARD A LOUD BOOM AND THEN SOME AIR WHISTLING. MY SUNROOF SHATTERED. WHEN I PULLED OVER AND CHECKED, IT HAD AN UPWARD BUBBLE IN THE MIDDLE. NOTHING HIT THE TRUCK AND I HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR AT LEAST 30 MINUTES WHEN IT HAPPENED. THEN THE GLASS STARTED TO MAKE PELLETS AND FLY OFF. WE TOOK IT TO FORD AND IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXISTING WARRANTY (CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE). HAS THIS HAPPENED TO OTHERS? IS THIS A DEFECT? THANK YOU. *TR
NOTICED ABOUT A WEEK AGO THAT THE REAR DEFROST LIGHT STOPPED COMING ON WHEN I PUSHED THE BUTTON. HAD A CO-WORKER ASK ME WHAT WAS WRONG WITH ONE OF MY REAR WINDOWS , SAYING THAT ONE OF THE 3 WAS NOTICEABLY DARKER THAN THE OTHER 2. THE NEXT DAY, THAT WINDOW BLEW OUT INTO THE BED OF MY TRUCK. OUTSIDE TEMP ABOUT 20 DEGREES, TRUCK HAD BEEN DRIVEN SO IT WAS WARM. GOT BACK INTO THE TRUCK TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, THE WINDOW BLEW OUT. TALKED TO MY SALESMAN, HE SAID THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIS NEIGHBORS TRUCK THE WEEK BEFORE, ALSO SAME THING WITH REAR DEFROST LIGHT NOT WORKING ALL OF THE SUDDEN. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY F150 2012 ECOBOOST ON AN ONRAMP GETTING ON TO THE FREEWAY. IT WAS RAINING, WET AND ABOUT 50 DEGREES. I ACCELERATED FROM ABOUT 35 TO 65 MPH TO CHANGE LANES AND GET IN LINE WITH TRAFFIC. THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND THE TRUCK STARTED SHAKING. THERE WAS ABOUT A MILE STRETCH WHERE THE VEHICLES POWER WAS COMPLETELY UNPREDICTABLE. WHEN I LET MY FOOT OFF THE GAS THE TRUCK WOULD STOP SHAKING. THIS WAS VERY SCARY AS CARS WERE BEARING DOWN ON ME FROM BEHIND AND I HAD TO GET OVER TO THE FAR RIGHT LANE INCASE I NEEDED TO COME TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE THEN SEEMED TO FUNCTION NORMALLY AND I DROVE ABOUT 5 MILES STRAIGHT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. *TR
HAVE HAD THE TRUCK FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW ORIGINALLY BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A KNOCK / POP/ RATTLE FELT AND HEARD THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL ONLY IN THE COLDER WEATHER , THEY REPLACED THE STEERING RACK . ALL WAS FINE UNTIL THE WARMER WEATHER HIT IN NEW ENGLAND AND 3000 MILES LATER IT CAME BACK . TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THE MECHANIC FELT THE KNOCK/POP/RATTLE AGAIN . THEY REPLACED THE RACK AGAIN .. ALL WAS FINE FOR ABOUT 3-5000 MILES AND ONCE THE REALLY HOT WEATHER HIT IT HAS COME BACK AGAIN AND DOES IT IN ALL TEMPERATURES . SO THAT IS 3 STEERING RACKS AT 3 DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES DOING THE SAME THING AND FORD HAD THE NERVE TO SAY ITS A "NORMAL " CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE . THATS IMPOSSIBLE SEEING THAT EACH STEERING RACK PERFORMS DIFFERENT IN DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES . ILL ALSO ADD THAT THE FEELING OF THE STEERING TIGHTENS AND LOOSENS WITH TEMPERATURE CHANGE AND WHEN ITS WINDY THE TRUCK IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL ON THE HIGHWAY . THERE IS HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT . I ALSO FIND IT FUNNY HOW THE NEW 2014 F150S HAVE HAD A RECALL ON THE STEERING ALSO. *TR
LOST POWER ON SECONDARY ROAD AT 40 MPH PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF ROADWAY STOPPED VEHICLE, STEPPED ON FUEL PEDAL RPM'S WENT UP SLOWLY TRUCK WOULD NOT MOVE. TURNED OFF TRUCK AND RESTARTED, THEN I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO WERE I WAS GOING. ON THE WAY HOME TRUCK LOST POWER SPUTTERED WHEN I GAVE IT GAS FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN RETURNED TO NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. *TR
JAN 24 2014 . MORNING 6:00 AM. MY TRUCK STALLED ON THE ELGIN OHARE EXPRESSWAY. I WAS CRUISING 65 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN MY TRANS OR ENGINE STARTED TO STALL. I NOTICED THE INDICATOR ON THE DASH GO FROM 6 GEAR TO 2ND. GEAR, MY SPEEDOMETER DROPPED TO 40 THEN 20 MPH. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS, SLOWLY CRUISED. THEN I PUT MY FOOT BACK ON THE GAS AND DROVE TO WORK AT 45 MPH. CALLED THE FORD DEALER MADE AN APPOINTMENT. DROVE IT THERE AFTER WORK . LEFT IT THERE FOR TWO DAYS. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE INCIDENT. THEY REFORMATTED MY DIGITAL READOUT ON THE DASHBOARD. DELETED THE NUMBERS INDICATING THE GEAR MY TRANSMISSION WAS IN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY AS THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TURBO FOR THE ENGINE HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED FOURS DAYS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,847.
TRUCK WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY WHICH IS A SLIGHT INCLINE. TRUCK ROLLED BACKWARDS 30 FEET WHILE IN PARK STRIKING A BUSH IN FRONT OF MY HOME. THIS WAS DUPLICATED 2 X AT WILL TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. *TR
SINCE NEW MY FUEL MILEAGE HAS BEEN DECLINING AND I WAS EXPERIENCING A SHUDDER, WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (CEL). DEALER PERFORMED A TSB AND REPLACED THE CHARGED AIR COOLER AND REPROGRAMMED THE PCM. THIS LEFT ME WITH WORSE MILEAGE AND A NOTICEABLE LOSS OF POWER. THIS PROGRESSED UNTIL 1-19-14 WHERE I LOST ENGINE POWER AND THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SHUDDER WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO PASS A SLOWER MOVING CAR. WHEN I FLOORED IT, THE TRANS SHIFTED DOWN TO 2ND, AND THE ENGINE SHOOK AND THE TRUCK SLOWED. ONCE I LEFT MY FOOT OFF THE GAS, AND COASTED FOR 30 SECONDS, IT RETURNED TO NORMAL, UNLESS I FLOORED IT AGAIN. NO CEL WAS OBSERVED UNTIL THE NEXT DAY ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER. THEY REPLACED ALL 6 SPARK PLUGS DUE TO FOULING. I THINK THERE IS WATER INGESTION ISSUE AND THAT IS WHAT CAUSED THE PLUGS TO FOUL. MY CONCERN IS THAT IF I HAD BEEN IN FRONT A FAST MOVING VEHICLE, I MAY NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ACCELERATE AND GOTTEN REAR ENDED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED INDEPENDENTLY WITH A RAPID INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AT THE TIME OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMALLY UPON RESTARTING HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
UPON HITTING THE GAS TO CROSS TRAFFIC I HAD A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. I HAD TO LET OFF AND HIT THE GAS A COUPLE OF TIMES IN ORDER TO GET THE TRUCK MOVING. THIS UNFORTUNATELY IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED AND I HAVE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE A MONTH SINCE BUYING IT AS A CERTIFIED VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP THAT I BOUGHT IT FROM SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THE PROBLEM BUT APPARENTLY IT IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS MORE THAN JUST A LITTLE ADJUSTMENT AND NEW PARTS. I HAVE NOTICED THROUGH SOME RESEARCH THAT I AM NOT THE FIRST TO HAVE THIS ISSUE. UNFORTUNATELY SOME OF THE POSTS ARE PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THEM FIXED BUT END UP PAST THE WARRANTY MARK BEFORE FORD IS ABLE TO MAKE IT RIGHT. *TR
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WENT TO ACCELERATE TO PASS SEMI PULLED BESIDE HIM. ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING TRUCK LOST POWER AND BEGAN SHAKING HAD TO HIT BRAKES AS CAR APPROACHED IN OPPOSITE DIRECTION ALMOST HAD HEAD ON COLLISION. MADE IT TO REAR OF SEMI AND PULLED OVER JUST I TIME TO AVOID ACCIDENT. *TR

ON 27 DECEMBER 2013, I RETURNED HOME FROM WORK SOMETIME BETWEEN 5-6PM. I PARKED THE VEHICLE IN THE DRIVEWAY JUST AS I HAD EVERY DAY SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE. THIS TIME I HAD TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART IT FOR THE VEHICLE TO RUN RIGHT AGAIN. AFTER THE 3RD TIME MY TRUCK WENT FROM GETTING 18 MPG TO 12.3 MPG AND RAN ROUGH AS THOUGH IT WAS CUTTING OUT. THE WEATHER WAS RAINY AND THE VEHICLES AHEAD OF ME WERE THROWING UP QUITE A BIT OF MOISTURE. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE FORD DEALER THE NEXT DAY 11-23-13 AND THEY KEPT THE TRUCK FOR REPAIRS. I AM CONCERNED AS I AND MY WIFE COULD HAVE VERY EASILY BEEN KILLED OF MAIMED YESTERDAY BECAUSE OF THIS ENGINE FAILURE. THE CRUISE CONTROL SHUT OFF AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND WENT INTO THE LIMP HOME MODE. IT WAS EARLY AND TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT SO I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. GOT BACK IN THE TRUCK STARTED IT AND ALL THE LIGHTS HAD CLEARED. DROVE THE REMAINING 300 MILES HOME WITHOUT ANY FURTHER PROBLEMS. TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND HAD IT CHECKED, THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG FRIDAY 22 NOV 2013 WIFE AND I HEADED BACK TO SO CAL IT WAS RAINING FOR THE FIRST 200 MILES THEN CLEARED UP. I SET THE CRUISE AT 75 AND LESS THAN 50 MILES LATER THE TRUCK DID THE SAME THING, SAME EXACT SYMPTOMS AND DASH SYMBOLS, I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE AT THE TIME SO IT WASN'T A PROBLEM GETTING IN THE EMERGENCY LANE. WAS JUST SCARY AS I HAD A SEMI BEHIND ME AND ANOTHER VEHICLE TO MY RIGHT THAT I WAS TRYING TO AVOID. THE TRUCK IS A 2012 F150 LARIAT WITH THE ECOBOOST ENGINE. *TR
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP IN A RIGHT HAND TURN, THE TRUCK LOST POWER AND BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND MISFIRE. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO THIS F-150 OFF ROAD 4X4 WITH ECOBOOST SINCE I PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW. AFTER THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THE FIX WAS A DEFLECTOR PLATE INSTALLED FOR THE TWIN TURBO. THEY DID NOT REPLACED THE CAC (CHARGE AIR COOLER). I WAS TOLD THIS WOULD MOST DEFINITELY FIX THE ISSUE. CLEARLY, THIS DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE SINCE I EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE YESTERDAY. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS I WAS TURNING ONTO VERY BUSY M59 IN HOWELL. I TURNED IN FRONT OF A SEMI. THANK GOODNESS I HAD ENOUGH ROOM SINCE I HAD NO ACCELERATION AFTER THE TURN. HAD I NOT GIVEN MYSELF ENOUGH ROOM AND CHANCED IT, THE SEMI MAY NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SLOW DOWN IN TIME. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FORD SHOULD DISCONTINUE MAKING THE ECOBOOST ENGINE UNTIL THEY GET IT RIGHT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,900.
I WAS ON A TRIP FROM OKLAHOMA TO FLORIDA. I STOPPED FOR GAS IN LOUISIANA. WHEN I GOT ON TO THE ON RAMP TO RETURN TO THE INTERSTATE I FLOORED THE GAS PEDAL TO GET IN FRONT OF A SEMI TRUCK, AND IT LOST ALL POWER ALMOST BEING HIT BY SEMI TRUCK. AFTER MY TRIP I TOOK MY PICKUP TRUCK TO MY FORD DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT.THEY TOLD ME THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. ME AND MY WIFE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED IF THE SEMI TRUCK DID NOT HAVE ROOM TO MOVE OVER TO MISS US. *TR
I WAS ON A HIGHWAY GOING 65 MPH, THE CONDITIONS WERE DRIZZLE/VERY HUMID, ROUGHLY 90 DEGREES OUTSIDE. THERE WAS A SLOW CAR IN FRONT OF ME SO I GOT IN THE ON COMING TRAFFICS LANE TO PASS THE CAR, BUT WHEN I STOMPED ON THE GAS PEDAL THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. MY TRUCK WOULDN'T ACCELERATE SO I PUSHED IT A FEW MORE TIMES AND STILL NOTHING. THERE WAS A CAR COMING AND I ALMOST GOT HIT HEAD ON BECAUSE OF THIS INCIDENT AND PROBABLY WOULD'VE BEEN BADLY INJURED HAD I NOT GOTTEN BACK IN MY LANE JUST BEFORE THE CAR PASSED. THE ENGINE RETURNED TO NORMAL AFTER ABOUT 20 SECONDS AND I WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE AND FINALLY GET AROUND THE CAR. THIS IS ONLY 1 OF THE 5 TIMES IT HAS HAPPENED IN THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE, ITS HAPPENED TO ME THREE TIMES, AND TWICE WHEN I'VE LOANED THE TRUCK TO MY FATHER. IT ONLY HAPPENS IN HUMID OR RAINY CONDITIONS AND I'M GUESSING HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE INTERCOOLER. BUT I'M NOT AN AUTO GUY SO I WOULDN'T KNOW. I CALLED FORD CORPORATE AND THEY SAID GO TO THE DEALER, THE DEALER DIDN'T SEE ANY CODES THAT WERE THROWN DURING THESE INCIDENTS SO THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT HELP ME. I WAS DRIVING TO THE EASTERN SHORE IN THE RAIN. WHEN I SLOWED DOWN TO GET SOMETHING TO EAT WHEN I TRIED TO GET BACK ON THE ROAD THE TRUCK SHUDDERED AND LOST ALL POWER. IT DID IT TWO MORE TIMES THAT NIGHT AND THEN IT DID IT AGAIN LEAVING THE TOLL BOOTH ON THE CHESAPEAKE BAY BRIDGE TUNNEL TWO DAYS LATER. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TRIED TO FIX IT BUT LAST WEEK WHEN IT RAIN I DROVE TO LANGLEY AFB AND IT DID IT AGAIN. CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID TO BE PATIENT AND FORD WILL GET BACK TO ME WHEN THEY COME UP WITH A FIX. HOW CAN I TRUST THIS TRUCK WHEN IT RAINS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS THING AND THEY WILL NOT FIX IT UNLESS YOU MAKE THEM. I ALMOST GOT RAN INTO ON THE BRIDGE WITH ALL THE VEHICLE MERGING BACK INTO TRAFFIC. *TR
WAS DRIVING ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY AT APPROX. 60MPH AND WHEN I WENT TO PASS A TRUCK, AS I ACCELERATED AND GOT ALONG SIDE THE TRUCK, MY ENGINE LOST POWER SO I COULD NOT PASS. I WAS LEFT IN A VERY VULNERABLE POSITION ALONGSIDE THE TRUCK AND HAD TO BRAKE TO DECELERATE AND TUCK BACK IN BEHIND THE TRUCK. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR, TEMPERATURE ABOUT 60 DEGREES, AND LUCKILY NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC BUT THERE WAS A VEHICLE BEHIND ME (AND LUCKILY THAT DRIVE SAW MY BRAKE LIGHTS, BACKED OFF AND ALLOWED ME TO TUCK BACK IN BEHIND THE TRUCK). AN ACCIDENT COULD HAVE RESULTED. AFTER GETTING BACK BEHIND THE TRUCK MY VEHICLE STILL HAD POWER BUT HAD A SHUDDER IN THE DRIVETRAIN WHILE UNDER LOAD (LIKE UPHILL, OR DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS, BUT NOT WHILE COASTING). I HAVE NOT TRIED FULL THROTTLE ACCELERATION AFTER THIS INCIDENT AND HAVE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE SPARINGLY. CALLED THE FORD DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN. WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED IT WAS JUST LIKE SOMEONE TURNED OFF THE KEY, NO POWER BUT AT LEAST PARTIAL POWER WAS REGAINED AFTER I LET OFF THE THROTTLE. THE ENGINE IS THE 3.5 LITER ECOBOOST. *TR
WE WERE RETURNING FROM ARKANSAS IN OUR F150 WITH THE ECOBOOST ENGINE IN RAIN/HEAVY MIST. WE WERE ON THE INTERSTATE FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME AND WHEN I WENT TO PASS A SLOWER VEHICLE THE TRUCK JUST SHOOK AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. IT HAPPENED AGAIN 1.5 HOURS LATER IN THE SAME CONDITIONS, TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCEPT ANYTHING BEYOND 3/8 THROTTLE. THIS HAPPENED BEFORE WHEN WE WERE IN THE RAIN (COMING FROM ARKANSAS) WITH THE EXACT SAME CONDITIONS (YEAR AGO). I HAVEN'T TAKEN THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AS FROM READING SEVERAL PLACES THERE ISN'T A TRUE FIX AT THIS POINT. SOME PEOPLE ARE DRILLING HOLES IN THEIR INTERCOOLERS TRYING TO DRAIN THE WATER THAT APPEARS TO BE THE ISSUE. *TR
WAS PREPARING TO PASS A SLOW MOVING VEHICLE MY TRUCK STARTED TO SHUDDER AND BEGAN TO SHUT DOWN..LEAVING ME HUNG OUT IN TRAFFIC.I BACKED OFF OF THE GAS AND IT BEGAN TO RUN CORRECTLY.THIS WAS A SCARY INCIDENT. WHILE ACCELERATING TO ENTER HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE LURCHED AND LOST POWER AND THE ENGINE STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY.I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. I STARTED IT AGAIN AND IT SEEMED TO RUN FINE FOR A TIME. LATER WHILE UNDER A LOAD IT WOULD MISS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT IN THIS HEAVY TRAFFIC. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY ORDERED PARTS, BUT DIDN'T SEEM TO CONFIDENT OF BEING ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM.. *TR
