My truck started experiencing the notorious Ford "limp mode" needs lead frame replaced. Ford has a customer satisfaction program directly related to this issue but though its 20k under their 150k limit it is over 10 yrs old so they are not honoring anything or doing anything about covering and cost associated. Pretty crappy of ford.
Sudden shift into first gear at any speed. Dash lights flickering between p,r,n,d. Tool light coming on dash.
Truck down shifts randomly while driving and does not shift when it is supposed to on take off the RPMs go up 3 something. You can stop turn truck off and it starts to work again for 1 or 2 take offs then does it again.
Speed control/transmission goes out while driving which results in my speedometer dropping down to zero and my RPMs going up. I have to completely shut my vehicle iff and wait a moment to restart it. Sometimes it fixes it and sometimes it doesn’t. It happens quite often, not everyday but several times a week.

1. Speed sensor failed 2. When driving, speedometer stops working and the truck slows down all of a sudden which could cause someone to rear end me. 3. Yes the problem has been reproduced and confirmed by independent service dealer 4. No the vehicle has not been inspected by anyone other than the independent service dealer 5. No warning lamps,etc prior to the failure
MY F150 WOULD JUMP OUT OF GEAR AT RANDOM TIME, I CAN BE TURNING ON TO THE HIGHWAY OR JUST BEEN RIDING ALONG THEN THE NEXT THING YOU KNOW IM BEING JERKED WITH OTHER VEHICLES AROUND ME. IVE NOTICE THE ODOMETER GAUGE ZEROS OUT. I CAN PULL OFF THE ROAD AND SHUT THE TRUCK OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES AND IT DRIVES LIKE NOTHING AS HAPPENED
ENGINE ACCELERATES BY ITSELF WHEN I TURN IT ON OR IF I'M AT A RED LIGHT OR AS SOON AS I PUT IT IN DRIVE
I WAS DRIVING ALONG RT. 837 HIGHWAY ON MY WAY TO WORK, GOING ABOUT 45 MPH, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL OF THE GAUGES ON MY DASH WENT BLANK AND MY SPEEDOMETER WENT TO ZERO. THEN A BIG ORANGE WRENCH APPEARED ON MY DASH. THE TRUCK DROPPED INTO FIRST GEAR AND I HAD VERY LITTLE POWER. I WAS ABLE TO TURN MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT BEING REAR ENDED. I ENDED UP MAKING IT TO WORK, WHICH WAS ABOUT 3 MINUTES AWAY, IN FIRST GEAR. AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE ALL OF THE GAUGES WERE WORKING AGAIN. I MADE IT HOME FINE THAT DAY AND AN ADVANCED AUTO SCAN OF THE VEHICLE BROUGHT UP NO CODES. TWO DAYS LATER I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM OCCUR ON RT. 30 HIGHWAY AND I HAD A SCAN TOOL I HAD BOUGHT WITH ME. I GOT 2 CODES, (P0720, P0722) BOTH RELATING TO THE OUTPUT SHAFT SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT.
TAKATA RECALL- I JUST GOT MY 2012 F150 AND I REALLY LIKE THE TRUCK BUT EVERYTIME I DRIVE IT AND IM SLOWING DOWN IT ALL SUDDENTLY SHIFTS DOWN REAL HARD , I TRY TO AVOID IT TO SHIFT DOWN SO HARD BUT NOTHING WORKS. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE OUTPUT SHAFT SPEED SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THERE WAS NO SIGNAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (CHARLOTTE COUNTY FORD, 3156 TAMIAMI TRAIL, PORT CHARLOTTE, FL 33952, (888) 699-4370) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR WAS NOT DISTRIBUTING A SIGNAL AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, TRUCK LOSSES POWER AND GOES INTO LIMP MODE. WRENCH ICON COMES ON, AS WELL AS AIRBAG LIGHT, AND SPEEDOMETER STOPS WORKING. IT APPEARS TO BE STUCK IN WHATEVER GEAR IT IS IN AT THE TIME. ALSO, WHEN STARTING OUT, TRUCK GETS STUCK IN 1ST GEAR, AND TRIES TO ACCELERATE EVEN WHEN NOT PRESSING GAS PEDAL. I NEVER HAD AN ISSUE UNTIL I TOOK IT IN FOR A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION.

THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP. AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER STRUCK A POLE. THE DRIVER SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED AS THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. THE DRIVER THEN SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO PARK AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. ON THE WAY TO THE CONTACT'S HOME, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME FULLY DEPRESSED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.

WHILE GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ACCELERATING, MY TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE AND LOSE POWER. I TOOK IT IN TO THE SHOP AFTERWARDS AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE ALL SPARK PLUGS AND 1 IGNITION COIL. WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE, MY VEHICLE STARTING SHUTTERING AS I CHANGED LANES TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. AS I ACCELERATED, THE ENGINE LOST POWER, AND THE ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. MY VEHICLE CONTINUES TO SHUTTER UNDER HARD ACCELERATION. *TR
DRIVING TO WORK ON JUNE 9 AT 8:00AM AFTER A HARD RAINSTORM, ON SOUTH MEMORIAL PARKWAY JUST NORTH OF GREEN COVE ROAD, TRAVELING ABOUT 40 TO 45, SLOWLY ACCELERATING, THE REAR END OF THE F150 LOCKED UP, TIRES SQUEALING, BEGAN TO FISHTAIL TO THE RIGHT FOR A FEW SECONDS, THEN RELEASED. I THOUGHT I HAD BEEN HIT FROM THE REAR, NO CARS BEHIND ME. TEMPERATURE GAUGES WERE FINE, THE GEAR DISPLAY ON THE DASH BOARD SHOWED ONLY GEARS 1, 2, AND 3. GEARS 4, 5, AND 6 WERE NOT DISPLAYED. I SPED UP AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT CHANGE, I SLOWED DOWN AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT CHANGE, I EASED THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL AND PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK. THE GEARS 4, 5, 6 WERE REDISPLAYED. THERE WERE NO FLUIDS COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION UNDER THE TRUCK. I EASED BACK INTO DRIVE AND NOTICED A LITTLE BIT OF A SHUDDER AROUND 3RD GEAR. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO COMPUTER CODE AND IT WAS LIKELY TO BE A COMPUTER GLITCH AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I ASKED IF IT WOULD BE RECORDED AS A COMPLAINT AND WAS TOLD NO, THAT UNLESS THEY COULD WITNESS THE EVENT OR THERE WAS A COMPUTER CODE, THE COMPLAINT WOULD NOT BE DOCUMENTED....I ESCALATED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER, WE AGREED TO DRIVE THE TRUCK FOR A BIT AND SEE IF THEY COULD REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, BUT, THAT THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE T HAT COULD BE DONE.
