NOTICED AN "'S" SHAPED SPLIT ON SIDEWALL OF MICHELIN TIRE P265/70R17 113SDT M+S DOT APKP OOEX 4612. FOR FAMILY SAFETY CONCERNS REPLACED THE TIRE AT THE DEALER WHERE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED AND WAS CHARGED FULL RETAIL PRICE WITH NO OFFER OF WARRANTY CONSIDERATION OR PRORATION. *TR
UNINTENDED ACCELERATION DESIGN DEFECT IN VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM . *TR
ON FRIDAY MORNING, MAY 2, 2013 I PICKEDUP MY F150 FROM THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AFTER THEY CLAIMED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS ISOLATED AND FIXED. I DROVE TO WORK WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS, HOWEVER, IN THE AFTERNOON ON MY WAY HOME THE VEHICLE STALLED AND CUT OFF ON ME. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I ACCELERATED TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. I WAS LUCKY TO GET TO THE CENTER TURNING LANE AND MAKE ACROSS TO A PARKING LOT WITHOUT INCIDENT. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS VEHICLE STALLS ON ME, TWICE WHILE DRIVING, AND HAVE BEEN TOWED TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THAT THE PROBLEM COMES FROM THE AFTERMARKET LIGHT BAR I INSTALLED AND CONNECTED TO THE TRAILER CONNECTOR. THIS CLAIM SOUNDS TOO RIDICULOUS TO EVEN CONSIDER IT TO BE THE FACT. I TRULY BELIEVE THAT THE PROBLEM IS THE ECOBOOST SYSTEM SINCE IT ONLY HAPPENS UPON ACCELERATION. CLEARLY THE DEALERSHIPS SERVICE DEPARTMENT OPTED TO BLAME THE VEHICLE OWNER AND NOT PUT REAL EFFORT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
AFTER DRIVING VEHICLE FOR 15 MILES IN HIGHWAY AND LOCAL TRAFFIC (TEMPERATURE 50; LIGHT RAIN), I PRESSED BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW FOR LH TURN. PEDAL WAS VERY FIRM AND DIFFICULT TO PRESS. BRAKES DID NOT SEEM TO FUNCTION, YET ABS "CHATTERED" AS I PRESSED HARDER... AND THE TRUCK SLOWED. THERE WERE NO MALFUNCTION INDICATORS ON THE DASH. WHEN TURN WAS COMPLETE, I PRESSED BRAKE PEDAL AGAIN TO TEST THE BRAKES... SAME RESULT, BUT NOW BRAKE FAULT INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. I PULLED OVER, STOPPED THE TRUCK, TURNED IT OFF, AND RESTARTED. MALFUNCTION LIGHTS CAME ON AND BRAKES FELT THE SAME. I CALLED DEALER FOR ADVICE, LEFT TRUCK RUNNING WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. CONVERSATION WITH DEALER LASTED ABOUT 7 MINUTES. AS I HUNG UP THE PHONE, THE BRAKE PEDAL SUDDENLY "SOFTENED" AND FELT NORMAL. OPERATING THE BRAKES CONFIRMED NORMAL FUNCTION. I TURNED OFF THE TRUCK AND RESTARTED. MALFUNCTION LIGHTS DID NOT COME ON AND THE BRAKES OPERATED NORMALLY ON MY DRIVE TO THE DEALER... ABOUT 7 MILES IN LOCAL TRAFFIC. *TR
DURING ACCELERATION TO HIGHWAY SPEED DURING RAINY WEATHER MY TRUCK EXHIBITED A POWER LOSS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED TO FLASH AND THE ENGINE LOOSES POWER AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED. THIS HAS OCCURRED 2 TIMES SINCE I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE (SINCE DECEMBER 2013). I HAVE THE TRUCK IN THE SHOP NOW FOR ANOTHER ISSUE AND HAVE INFORMED THE DEALER OF THE INCIDENTS BUT HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM THEM. *TR
WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER IS ON LOW AND RECIRCULATE, THERE IS A STRONG CHEMICAL SMELL LIKE PAINT THINNER OR ADHESIVE COMING OUT OF THE PANEL VENTS. PROLONGED EXPOSURE CAUSES HEADACHES AND DIZZINESS. THIS OCCURS AT ALMOST ANY SPEED AND WEATHER CONDITION HOT ENOUGH TO REQUIRE AIR CONDITIONING. HAS BEEN TO DEALER 3 TIMES. THEY CAN DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM BUT CANNOT FIX IT. *TR
UPON ACCELERATING FROM A STOP 4OR 5 LOUD KNOCKING SOUNDS WERE HEARD AND FELT, AND ENGINE POWER LOSS WAS EXPERIENCED. I LET OFF THROTTLE TO REDUCE KNOCKING SOUND,WHICH SOUNDED LIKE TURBO WASTEGATE POSSIBLY, AND ENGINE SHOOK AND HAD REDUCED POWER FOR SEVERAL MILES. TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS WARM AND DRY. I HAD BEEN DRIVING VEHICLE FOR OVER AN HOUR BEFORE PROBLEM. IT HAS HAD REDUCED POWER AND MINOR SHAKING BEFORE,BUT NOTHING LIKE THIS. FORTUNATELY NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE COMING. I DO NOTICE WASTEGATE POPPING OFF ON SHORT,STEEP HILLS MORE LATELY. I HAVE THE ECOBOOST ENGINE. HAVE NOT BEEN TO DEALER YET, BUT HAVE APPT SOON. *JS
I WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP ON A MAIN STREET MAKING A LEFT TURN. TRAFFIC WAS COMING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION AND I WAS WAITING FOR CLEARING WITHIN THE TRAFFIC IN ORDER TO MAKE MY LEFT TURN. THERE WAS AN OPENING IN TRAFFIC AND I STEPPED ON THE GAS TO ACCELERATE ACROSS THE LANE. AS I STEPPED ON THE GAS A MESSAGE ON MY DASHBOARD CAME ON STATING "LOW OIL PRESSURE" AND THE VEHICLE COMPLETED STALLED. I COMPLETELY LOST ALL POWER ON THE ENGINE AND ALSO THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE DRIFTED ACROSS THE BUSY LANE AND BARELY MADE IT ACROSS THE LANE AS TRAFFIC WAS COMING DIRECTLY TOWARDS ME. MULTIPLE VEHICLES WERE COMING IN MY DIRECTION AND SOME HONKED THERE CAR HORN TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. THIS WAS EXTREMELY FRIGHTENING AS I HAD MY BABY WITH ME IN THE BACK SEAT. THE CARS WOULD HAVE CLEARLY HIT MY VEHICLE IF I HAD NOT DRIFTED ACROSS THAT LANE. THE TRUCK IS PRACTICALLY NEW AS IT BARELY HAS 6724 MILES. *TR UPDATED 10/8/2014 *JS
IN APRIL 2014 OUR SUNROOF EXPLODED AS WE WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. WE TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED THE TRUCK AND THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF A SUNROOF EXPLODING FOR NO REASON. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH IT LOOKS LIKE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER PEOPLE. FORD TOOK NO RESPONSIBILITY AND CHARGED US $1035.05 TO REPLACE THE SUNROOF. SCARED US TO DEATH WHEN THE SUNROOF EXPLODED. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS HURT.
I WAS AT A STOP SIGN TURNING INTO A MAIN STREET, I ACCELERATED TO TURN INTO THE INTERSECTION WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE THE TRUCK DID NOT DO ANYTHING. IT WAS REALLY NERVE WRECKING, I STEPPED ON THE GAS LIKE 3 TIMES UNTIL THE TRUCK FINALLY REACTED. I ALMOST GOT INTO A REALLY BAD ACCIDENT WHICH WOULD OF BEEN MY FAULT BECAUSE OF THE CARS DEFECT. THIS IS NOT THE ONLY TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME, BUT IS THE MOST RECENT. THEY REALLY NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS! I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE CUSTOMERS CONCERN. THIS IS A $43,000 TRUCK AND THINK THAT I SHOULD GET WHAT I HAVE PAID FOR NOT A LITTLE PIECE OF CRAP. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A COUNTY HIGHWAY, PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDDLE TO SLOW FOR A BAD SECTION OF ROAD AND BRAKE PEDDLE WAS STIFF AND WOULD NOT DEPRESS. NO BRAKES. BRAKE LIGHT AND ERRORS SHOWED ON CONSOLE. NO PRIOR INDICATION THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES. USED THE EMERGENCY TO SAFELY BRAKE THE CAR TO CALL FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. DEALER INDICATED THAT A VACUUM LINE HAD FALLEN OFF AND CAUSED THE NO BRAKE CONDITION. I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THERE WOULD BE A REDUNDANT SYSTEM TO ALLOW THE BRAKES TO OPERATE. *TR
WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC FROM A STOP I EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER FROM THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE SPUTTERED AND IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OR INCREAE RPM. AFTER PUMPING THE GAS PEDAL TWICE THE TURBOS FINALLY KICKED IN AND ALLOWED MWE TO ONCE AGAIN ACCELERATE. THIS LOSS OF POWER WHILE ENTERING THE ROADWAY NEARLY CAUSED A COLLISION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE SPEED WAS REDUCED. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONOLULU FORD LOCATED AT 1370 N KING ST, HONOLULU, HI 96817 HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED AND PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.*DT*JB
SUNROOF SHATTERED, AFTER EXITING MY WORK PLACE PARKING GARAGE, AT 12:45PM, I SOON ENTERED THE ON RAMP TO THE LOCAL LOOP FREEWAY AND ACCELERATED TO ENTER THE FREEWAY AT APPROX. 25 MPH MY SUNROOF SHATTERED AND GLASS PARTICLES CAME INSIDE THE VEHICLE COMPARTMENT. LOUD EXPLOSION SOUND AND SMALL GLASS SHARDS GOT IN MY EYES, ON MY SKIN AND EVERYWHERE IN THE AUTOMOBILE. THE SUNROOF IS STILL BASICALLY INTACT AND BUDGED SLIGHTLY OUTWARD OR UPWARD. *TR
WELL AFTER A WEEK OR TWO I NOTICED LIKE THREE DIFFERENT THINGS ON MY NEW 2013 FORD F-150. A SMELL COMING OUT OF THE AC AND HEATER, SOME DAYS ITS COLD AND SOME DAYS IT WAS HOT. IT WAS LIKE A BURST OF RUBBING ALCOHOL AND IT IS JUST LIKE A BURST THAT COMES OUT EVERY NOW AND THAN SOME DAYS MORE THAN OTHERS, ALSO WHEN I COME TO A STOP I NOTICE MY BRAKES MAKE A CLAPPING NOTICE RIGHT WHEN I COME TO A STOP, LIKE A FAN COMING TO A STOP. ALSO I NOTICE THE TRUCK DOES NOT RUN A SMOOTH AS IT DID THE FIRST TWO WEEKS. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TWICE, BUT THEY SAY IT IS OKAY.I'M VERY CONCERN OF THE SMELL AND BECAUSE I FEEL SOMETHING IS WRONG, BECAUSE IT DOES NOT DRIVE AS SMOOTH. AM I CRAZY? *TR
SINCE APPROXIMATELY 5700 MILES, WHEN I TAKE LONG TRIPS IN THE VEHICLE (30+ MILES), THE TPMS LIGHT WILL COME ON WITH A MESSAGE SAYING ?TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR FAULT.? IF I CONTINUE DRIVING THE LIGHT WILL EVENTUALLY TURN OFF AND OCCASIONALLY COME BACK ON IN THE TRIP. THE LIGHT HAS ALWAYS COME ON AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN BROUGHT INTO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT MULTIPLE TIMES WITHOUT ANY GUARANTEED FIX. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT DID REPLACE A FAULTY, NON-RESPONSIVE TPMS SENSOR, BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. THE ISSUES USUALLY OCCURS AT NIGHT, BUT HAS HAPPENED IN THE DAYTIME. *TR
WHILE ENTERING TRAFFIC, FORM A STANDING START, THE TRUCK ACCELERATED FINE UNTIL SUCH TIME AS IT REACHED APPROXIMATELY 65 KLM/HR. OR APPROX. 40 MILES PER HOUR, WHEREIN IT LOST POWER DRAMATICALLY. IT DID NOT STALL, OR LOSE POWER STEERING, OR BRAKES, BUT THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO POWER WHATSOEVER TO THE DRIVE TRAIN. NONE.THIS HAPPENED ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY, WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT IS 80 KLM/HR. OR 45 MILES PER HOUR. THERE HAD BEEN ON COMING TRAFFIC HEADED WEST, AND I WAS TURNING EAST, A LEFT TURN. THE ON COMING TRAFFIC WAS A WAYS AWAY, SO I HAD LOTS OF TIME AS FAR AS THE EAST BOUND TRAFFIC WAS CONCERNED, BUT UPON MAKING THE EAST BOUND LANE THE TRUCK LOST POWER. THERE WAS A SEMI BEARING DOWN ON ME HEADED EAST, SO I LEFT THE ROAD. THE SEMI PASSED ME WITHOUT INCIDENT, BUT JUST BARELY. ONCE AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I NOTICED A WRENCH ICON ON THE DASH. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES, TURNED IT BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ON. I LIVE IN ONTARIO, CANADA. I HAVE USED MY SISTER'S ADDRESS FOR YOUR FORM. I HOPE YOU DO NOT MIND? *TR
2013 FORD F-150 3.5 ECOBOOST ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS HAS LOSS OF POWER ON TAKE-OFF WHEN MAKING LEFT HAND TURNS. THIS LOSS OF POWER SEEMS MORE LIKE A LONG DELAY IN POER APPLICATION TO THE WHEELS, LONG ENOUGH THAT WHEN MAKING LEFT HAND TURNS IN TRAFFIC BECOMES DANGEROUS AND I HAVE BEEN IN TWO NEAR MISSES IN THESE STALL SITUATIONS. THE VEHICLE COMES TO LIFE SUDDENLY WITH A BOOST OF FULL POWER LITERALLY SCARING YOU WHEN IT FINALLY DOES DECIDE TO GO AFTER A 1-3 SECOND DELAY, AND OFTENTIMES EVEN AFTER LETTING OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR YOU STILL GET THE POWER SURGE AND HAVE TO MASH THE BRAKES. I HAVE LEARNED TO KEEP A FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND MANGE THE DELAY, JUST HOPE I DON'T GET IN A TIGHT SPOT WHERE I NEED TO HAVE SUDDEN POWER FROM A STOP. *JS
I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK BRAND NEW FROM FORD IN DECEMBER, WHILE ON A ROAD TRIP DOING ALL INTERSTATE DRIVING, I HAD TO BRAKE HARD TO AVOID A COLLISION WHEN A SEMI TRUCK CUT INTO MY LANE. I SLOWED SHARPLY FROM 65 TO 30, APPLYING HARD BRAKING TO THE PEDAL AND STEERING TO AVOID CONTACT WITH THE SEMI TRUCK. SINCE THEN MY BRAKES HAVE BEEN PULSING WHEN APPLIED TO SLOW MY VEHICLE, AS IF THE ROTORS ARE WARPED. MY TRUCK NOW HAS 11,000 MILES ON IT AND THE PULSING JUST KEEPS GETTING WORSE AND WORSE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THE SPARE TIRE WAS SMALLER THEN THE FACTORY TIRES THAT CAME ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT FELT THIS WAS A SAFETY FAILURE BECAUSE THE CONTACT HAULED A TRAITOR CONSTANTLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO ALERT THEM OF THE PROBLEM HOWEVER THEY DECLINED TO REPLACE THE TIRE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE E-470 AND HEAR WHAT SOUNDED LIKE AN EXPLOSION AND REALIZED OUR SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE OUT. FORD IS SAYING THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND HAS HAPPENED TO ALOT OF PEOPLE. SOMEONE NEEDS TO CHECK ON THIS PLEASE. *TR
THE FOLLOWING OCCURRED IN A 2013 F150 PLATINUM WITH 12,000 MILES ON IT. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE CAR LOST POWER AND STUTTERED AND FELL INTO LIMP MODE. YOU COULD NOT DRIVE OVER 10 MPH. THIS HAS BEEN JUST ONE OF MANY SIMILAR INCIDENTS. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN SEVERAL TIMES BUT FORD CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, SO THEY WILL NOT FIX ANYTHING. RECENTLY, THE CAR JUST MISFIRED WHILE DRIVING AROUND 40MPH, THESE INCIDENTS OCCUR SUDDENLY THEN THE CAR RECOVERS. MY CAR IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP, I WILL PICK IT UP TODAY, THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, SO NO SERVICE WAS DONE. THE REASON IT WAS IN THE SHOP THIS TIME? I WAS DRIVING TO WORK IN THE MORNING AND THE CAR BASICALLY COLLAPSED WHILE DRIVING, ALMOST CAUSING A HUGE ACCIDENT, THIS INCIDENT WAS MORE EXTREME THAN THE OTHERS AND THE CAR WAS STUCK IN LIMP MODE FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS, THE WOMAN BEHIND ME ALMOST SMASHED INTO ME. THIS IS A 50K TRUCK WITH 12,000 MILES ON IT. THIS TRUCK IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. RECALL!!!!!! *TR
I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY IN FEBRUARY 10TH, 2014 WHEN I HEARD A LOUD NOISE LIKE SOMETHING HAD STRUCK THE REAR PART OF MY ROOF. I LOOKED IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR AND SAW THAT MY REAR LEFT SIDE WINDOW PANEL HAD COMPLETELY CRACK (SPIDER-ED). I THOUGH IT MAY HAVE BEEN AN OBJECT THAT CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN UNTIL THE SAME INCIDENT TOOK PLACE 3 YEARS LATER AND THIS TIME MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED. I HAVE NOW RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT OTHER FORD F150 OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCE THE SAME DEFECT IN THEIR VEHICLES.
I WAS ACCELERATING UP A HILL AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH WHEN A RAPID DECELERATION OCCURRED. I HAD TO QUICKLY MERGE ONTO THE SHOULDER IN ORDER TO AVOID BEING HIT FROM BEHIND. I THEN SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE, WAITED, COMPOSED MYSELF, RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE SAFELY TO WORK. I DID, HOWEVER, HAVE THE "CHECK ENGINE" ILLUMINATE ON MY WAY HOME AND SEEMED TO SENSE SOME STIFFNESS IN THE BRAKES. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN IN A VEHICLE WITH 8000 MILES ON IT. *TR
WHEN OUT TO TRUCK IN THE MORNING TO CLEAN SNOW OFF. I RETRIEVED A PAIR OF GLOVES OUT OF THE BACKSEAT AND NOTHING WAS OUT OF THE ORDINARY. IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 7 DEGREES F OUTSIDE. I THEN WENT INSIDE AND REMOTE STARTED THE TRUCK. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I WENT TO GET IN THE TRUCK, LOOKED IN THE REAR VIEW AND NOTICED THE MIDDLE, SLIDING REAR WINDOW WAS OPEN. I TURNED AROUND AND FOUND THAT THE CENTER GLASS WAS BROKEN AND HAD SHATTERED INTO THE TRUCK. THE TWO SIDE PANELS WERE BOTH COMPLETELY SHATTERED AND STILL INTACT. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND ASKED THE PARTS AND SERVICE DEPARTMENT IF THIS WAS SOMETHING THEY HAD HEARD OF. I TOLD THEM I FELT LIKE THE REAR DEFROSTER COMBINED WITH THE COLD EXPLODED THE WINDOW. THEY SAID THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THAT. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP BEING REPAIRED AT A COST OF $1,420. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FORD AND AM AWAITING A CALL BACK AS THEY OPENED A CASE NUMBER FOR ME. AS THIS STANDS NOW IT LOOKS LIKE IT WILL COME OUT OF POCKET AND WILL BE FILED AGAINST INSURANCE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO MAKE A JERKING MOTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC TURNED THE ROTORS BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO A DEALER. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE BRAKE PADS FRACTURED. THE ROTORS WERE TURNED AND THE BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.

AFTER HAVEN DRIVEN FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF IN -04 DEGREE F TEMPERATURES, WITH THE MIRROR DEFROSTER ON, WHEN I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION I GOT OUT AND CLOSED THE DOOR AND I HEARD A LOUD POP AND THE TINKLING SOUND THAT SHATTERED GLASS MAKES AS IT FALLS TO THE GROUND. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE REAR WINDOW AND IN COMBINATION WITH THE MIRROR DEFROST SYSTEM IS A CRUDE "OPEN LOOP" HEATING SYSTEM THAT WORKS ON A TIMER INSTEAD OF A TEMPERATURE FEEDBACK LOOP TO CONTROL THE TEMPERATURE OF THE GLASS. THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER IS ALSO TIED TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER'S SIDE MIRROR DEFROSTERS, SO WHEN YOU TURN THE MIRROR DEFROSTER ON THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER IS ALSO ON. I HAVE A CAP ON THE TRUCK SO THE REAR WINDOW DOESN'T SEE AS MUCH COLD AIR AS THE MIRRORS DO, BUT ALL THREE STAY ON THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME. THERE IS A TIMER CIRCUIT THAT TURNS THE DEFROSTER OFF AFTER 10 MINUTES AND THE MIRRORS IMMEDIATELY FROST BACK UP ONCE IT TURNS OFF, SO I HIT THE BUTTON AND THEY COME BACK ON AGAIN. YOU HAVE TO DO THIS EVERY 10 MINUTES WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING IN FREEZING TEMPERATURES OR THE MIRRORS ARE UNUSABLE. I DON'T NEED THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER, BUT I NEED THE MIRROR DEFROSTER. SO MY THEORY IS THAT BECAUSE OF THE "CHEAP" DESIGN OF THE WINDOW DEFROSTER SYSTEM, THE REAR WINDOW OVER HEATED TO THE POINT THAT THE PRESSURE DEVELOPED INSIDE THE CAB WHEN CLOSING THE DOOR SHATTERED THE OVERHEATED GLASS. PURCHASED NEW 2013 FORD ECO PICKUP. IT WAS ADVERTISED AND SOLD TO BE A HIGH EFFICIENT FUEL ECONOMICAL VEHICLE. FIRST TIME TEMPERATURES DROPPED BELOW 30 DEGREES F, MY FUEL MILEAGE DRASTICALLY DROPPED. AFTER DISCUSSION WITH DEALERSHIP, THEY SEEMED TO BE AWARE OF THE AFFECT COLD AIR HAD ON ITS FUEL MILEAGE. PRIOR TO COLD WEATHER I WAS EXPERIENCING 18 TO 24 MPG. AS SOON AS COLD WEATHER ARRIVED I WAS EXPERIENCING 12 TO 14 MPG. THIS TYPE OF MILEAGE IS CONSISTENT ALL THROUGH THE WINTER UNTIL LATE SPRING. SEEMS THE 24 MPG IS UNACHIEVABLE ANYMORE. DEALERSHIP BRIEFLY EXPLAINED THE BOOSTERS WORK BEST IN WARM WEATHER. THIS INFORMATION WAS NOT OFFERED DURING THE PURCHASE PROCESS. I EVEN SHOWED THEM A MAGAZINE ARTICLE WRITTEN ON HOW FORDS ECO BOOST HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING LOWER THAN ADVERTISED MPG. THE SALESMAN ACKNOWLEDGED THE ARTICLE AND SAID THEY HAD CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD DURING A MAINTENANCE PROCESS, THAT IT HAD TO HAVE 12,000 MILES BEFORE THEY COULD TEST IT FOR LACK OF MPG. I HAD IT INSPECTED AT 11,800 MILES AND THEY CLAIM THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I HAVE A 2013 FORD F 150 LIMITED 4 X 4. I LOST MY BRAKES TWICE WHILE TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY IN THE FIRST 4 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. ON JAN 13,2014 WITH APPROX 849 MILES ON THE OD I HAD NO BRAKES. AFTER LETTING THE VEHICLE SIT FOR 8 HRS, MAGICIALLY I HAD FULL BRAKES FUNCTION AND COULD DRIVE TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. ON APRIL 3, 2014 WITH APPROX 2517 MILES ON OD, MY BRAKES FAILED AGAIN WITHOUT WARNING ON THE FREEWAY. I LET THE VEHICLE SIT FOR 8 HOURS AND BY MAGIC THE BRAKES WORKED AS NORMAL. I BELIEVE THERE IS A CORRUPTED PROGRAM IN THE VEHICLE COMPUTER AND THE ABS COMPUTER. THE FIRST LOSS OF BRAKES, THE VACUMN PUMP WAS NOT HOOKED UP AT THE FACTORY. THE BRAKES SHOULD NEVER HAVE WORKED. BUT THEY WORKED PERFECTLY FOR 3 WEEKS BEFORE FAILURE. THE DEALERSHIP HOOKED UP THE VACUMN PUMP. THE SECOND TIME, THE FORD FACTORY INSTRUCTED THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE VACUMN PUMP. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY. FORD WANTED TO KEEP MY VEHICLE AND DRIVE IT EVERY DAY TILL IT FAILED FOR THEM. I STILL HAD TO PAY FOR THE LEASE. NO FINANCIAL HELP FROM THE FACTORY OR DEALERSHIP.
FORD ECOBOOST ENGINE. TRAVELING ON STATE HIGHWAY (ONE LANE IN EACH DIRECTION) AT ABOUT 45MPG (SPEED LIMIT WAS 55). I ATTEMPTED TO PASS A SLOWER CAR. I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND MOVE INTO THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE. AS I CAME EVEN WITH THE SLOWER CAR, THE ENGINE CUT OUT AND I WAS ONLY ABLE TO MAINTAIN A SPEED OF 40 TO 45 MPH. ANOTHER CAR PULLED IN RIGHT BEHIND ME TO ALSO PASS THE SLOWER CAR AT THE SAME TIME. A SEMI TRAILER CRESTED THE HILL AND WAS QUICKLY APPROACHING. I WAS UNABLE TO HIT THE BREAKS AND RETURN TO MY LANE OF TRAFFIC BECAUSE THE SECOND PASSING CAR WAS ACCELERATING QUICKLY BEHIND ME AND I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AT ALL BECAUSE THE ENGINE WAS STALLING. THE SECOND PASSING CAR REALIZED SOMETHING WAS WRONG AND HIT THE BREAKS ALLOWING ME TO ALSO SLIDE BACK IN LINE AS THE SEMI SHIFTED ONTO THE SHOULDER IN HIS LANE. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PASS THE SLOWER CAR AND TRAVELED HOME. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE LOCAL DEALER FOR EVALUATION AND THEY TOLD ME THIS IS KNOWN TO HAPPEN DURING RAINY WEATHER. WEATHER AT TIME OF INCIDENT, PARTLY CLOUDY, AROUND 4:30 IN THE AFTERNOON. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME MY ENGINE HAS CUT OUT ON ME DURING ACCELERATION. I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE RAIN FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 HOURS, WHEN I NEEDED TO PASS A SEMI-TRUCK AND PUSHED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO ACCELERATE THE TRUCK STARTED TO SHUDDER AND STALL, WITH AN ACCOMPANYING FLASHING MIL LIGHT. I LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND THE MIL LIGHT BECAME STEADY. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, SHUT-OFF THE TRUCK AND OPENED THE HOOD TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY OBVIOUS CAUSE TO THE MISFIRE CONDITION...AND THERE WAS NOT. I RESTARTED THE TRUCK, BUT THE MIL LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED STEADY. I DROVE CONSERVATIVELY HOME AND HOOKED UP MY CODE READER TO THE OBD-II PORT. IT SHOWED CODES OF P0300, P0305, AND P0306...THE FREEZE-FRAME DATA SHOWED THE CONDITION OCCURRED AT 65 MPH AND 2578 RPMS. I CALLED THE DEALER AND SETUP AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE TRUCK INSPECTED. THE DEALER APPLIED FORD TSB 13-8-10 AS THE FIX (DON'T KNOW IF THIS WILL FIX THE MISFIRES OR NOT). MY TRUCK HAS THE 3.5L ECOBOOST MOTOR. *TR

I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM VISITING FAMILY AND WHILE PASSING A VEHICLE ON ROUTE 113 IN MARYLAND MY TRUCK SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND THE ENGINE BEGAN SHUDDERING WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE HAD REDUCED POWER AND CONTINUED SHUDDERING UNTIL I STOPPED TRYING TO ACCELERATE. AS OF JANUARY 28, 2013 MY 2013 F-150 HAS CONTINUALLY HAD ELECTRICAL ISSUES RESULTING IN A DEAD BATTERY THAT HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED AS OF TODAY, 3/10/2014. ERROR MESSAGES THAT ARISE INCLUDE " BATTERY SAVER ON' AND "AUDIO OFF" INDICATORS AND AFTER JUMPSTARTING THE VEHICLE WILL START WITH THE KEY IN THE "ON" POSITION AND IN SOME CASES SUCH AS MINE, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF 5TH GEAR UNTIL THE IGNITION IS CYCLED OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN. OVER THE COURSE OF THE PREVIOUS 2.5 MONTHS I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE IN THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT 6 TIMES TOTALING OVER 30+ DAYS. THIS VEHICLE HAS LEFT ME STRANDED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS REQUIRING ME TO FIND SOMEONE TO JUMPSTART IT EACH TIME. AFTER DRIVING IN RAIN FOR A COUPLE HOURS IN MY ECOBOOST F150, I WAS MERGING ONTO AN INTERSTATE WHERE TRAFFIC REQUIRED HEAVY ACCELERATION AND THE VEHICLE STALLED FROM 60-65 ABRUPTLY TO 45 MPH. THE VEHICLE SHUTTERED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BACK TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR NEARLY A MINUTE. THE ENGINE RAN EXTREMELY ROUGH AND WAS UNRESPONSIVE TO THROTTLE INPUT FROM DRIVER. I HAD MY FAMILY WITH ME AND WAS VERY UPSET THAT WE COULD HAVE BEEN IN A VERY BAD ACCIDENT. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT INFORM ME OF PROBLEMS WITH THE ECOBOOST AT THE TIME OF SALE, EVEN THOUGH THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE THE ECOBOOST INTRODUCTION. ON 24 DEC 2013 AT 2:15 PM I HAD TO BRAKE HARD TRYING TO AVOID A CAR COMING ACROSS MY PATH IN A PARKING LOT (THERE WAS A RESULTING ACCIDENT WITH NO INJURIES, BUT DAMAGE TO THE OTHER VEHICLES FRONT FENDER). I WASN'T MOVING VERY FAST LESS THAN (10MPH) AND INSTEAD OF JUST GRABBING THE BRAKES THE TRUCK SHUDDERED VIOLENTLY BEFORE THE BRAKES ACTUALLY GRABBED. I'VE NOTICED THIS ON SEVERAL OTHER OCCASIONS. I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS EXPECTED BEHAVIOR WITH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES, BUT I'M CONVINCED I COULD HAVE MANUALLY STOPPED THE TRUCK FASTER.

ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS I HAVE NOTICED THAT WHEN EXITING THE TRUCK MY RIGHT FOOT TENDS TO BRUSH AGAINST THE INTERIOR HOOD RELEASE LATCH AND OCCASIONALLY TRIGGERS AND RELEASES THE HOOD. I HAVE EXPERIMENTED AND IT REALLY DOES NOT APPEAR TO REALLY REQUIRE MUCH FORCE FOR THE TIME OF MY RIGHT SHOE TO TRIGGER THE LATCH. THEN WHEN LATER DRIVING THE TRUCK, I VISUALLY NOT THAT THE HOOD HAS BEEN RELEASED AND HAVE TO STOP AND FULLY OPEN THE HOOD TO CLOSE IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THIS IS AN ISOLATED PROBLEM. OTHERWISE THE HOOD LATCH MECHANISM APPEARS TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. I AM AFRAID THAT ONE DAY THIS WILL CAUSE A BAD ACCIDENT IF I DON'T REALIZE THAT THE HOOD HAS BEEN OPENED. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE LATCH IS LOCATED IN A PRONE AREA AND PERHAPS ACTUALLY SHOULD REQUIRE MORE TENSION TO FULLY TRIGGER THE RELEASE. *TR

THE SECOND TIME WAS ON A FOUR LANE DURING A 45 MINUET DRIVE WHEN I WENT TO PASS IT LOST ALL POWER CAUSING ME TO DROP TO 40 MILES AN HOUR IN THE PASSING LANE OF A HIGHWAY CAUSING MANY VEHICLES TO SWERVE TO AVOID COLLISION. WHILE MAKING A LONG COMMUTE TO PORTLAND OR. FROM SEATTLE WA., VERY EARLY IN THE MORNING. IT WAS A VERY RAINY NIGHT, AND I WAS TRYING TO PASS A SEMI WHO WAS STRUGGLING TO GO UP A HILL, AS I PUSHED THE PEDAL TO PASS HIM QUICKLY, THE TRUCK SHUDDERED, THEN LOST ALL POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS BLINKING. I AVOIDED THE TRUCK AND OTHER TRAFFIC AS I LIMPED THE TRUCK TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I THEN TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND IT WORKED AS IT SHOULD. LIGHT STAYED ON FOR A WEEK OR MORE. I VERY EASILY COULD HAVE GOTTEN IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT THAT MORNING, AND I STILL HAVE ISSUES WITH MY ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON ALL THE TIME. OFF TO THE DEALER I GO. 2013 F-150 3.5L ECOBOOST.
