While at highway speeds my truck has recently started downshifting to 1st gear. I've contacted Ford, Ford dealers and provided them with my VIN number and I keep being told my VIN is not included in the recent recall Ford issued. I find it disheartening to say the least that Ford will not acknowledge this! How can they single out just one year model and not all the years that have the exact transmission (6R80) and fix them all. The molded lead frame is the problem! My truck is a 2013 that is exhibiting the exact issues that Ford describes in their recent recall for only 2014 models, but yet my truck is not included. And I am afraid to drive my truck down the road after it locked the tires at 70 mph today when it decided to downshift to 1st gear! UNBELIEVEABLE! How many more crashes, injuries and possibly even deaths have to happen before someone holds Ford Motor Companies feet to the fire and fixes ALL of these lead frames? I am going to be forced to purchase this part and fix it in my garage because I am too afraid to go anywhere in it now after what happened today! Everyone of these transmissions need to be recalled and fixed! It is a MAJOR safety issue!

Component: Vehicle, travelling at 70mph, downshifted to lower gear. Legal speed limit on Hwy 7 Comanche Co, OK. Remained in lower gear and would not upshift. After stopping, stopping engine and re starting, did same, downshifted at 60mph. Took vehicle to Ford dealer service dept. Identified as Lead Frame harness/connector. Safety; driver safety was at risk with sudden downshift jolting vehicle. Other drivers at risk with swerve to adjacent lane. Trailing traffic at risk by sudden slow down & stoppage. Problem; problem confirmed and replacement parts completed by Ford dealership 09/25/2024 at cost of $1,121.80 Vehicle inspection: by Ford dealership service dept technicians Symptoms: NO warning whatsoever. Downshifted at 70mph Made a phone call to Ford Corporate to complain and request Ford cover costs, refund or assistance. Was told NO way. FOX news report 03/24/2025 identified 2015-2017 F150 issues with same conditions. NHTSA, ODI investigating.

Upon getting a recall done for the OSS downshift my truck has been acting up. While in motion at about 40 mph yesterday my truck automatically downshifted into 1st gear. My tires skid and it jerked me really hard. I though I had hit something. If someone was behind me at that moment or I was going faster it could have caused a wreck. The transmission also does not shift out of 1st gear sometimes after stopping at a light or stop sign. This could cause a wreck also as I can't go over 5-10 mph as the RPMS redline because it will not shift. I can put it in manual mode and shift it sometimes but not always. Occasionally it will not shift past 3rd gear. Since the recall has been done the tech added Campaign 19N01. Upon calling the dealership that did the repair in Memphis TN they stated it had nothing to do with the recall (not sure how they can determine that without looking at it) and it sounded like I was having transmission problems. They are 4 months out for transmission repairs, so even if I wanted to pay for the repair and not try to go through the recall or extended warranty I cant for MONTHS! My engine light is on but have not had the codes ran. The Ford forum... [XXX] all states the same issues I am having. This seems to be a common occurrence and if your vehicle is out of the warranty or had already been done then you are on your own. The forum is stating it is the lead frame or output speed sensor on the transmission that is the issue. I have had so many issues with this FORD its ridiculous. My timing chain exploded as well and I had to purchase a complete new motor. This is a common failure with this model /motor Ford trucks. It also shows a wrench on the dash and the speedometer quits working and mileage, MPG and others just show dashes. Need a resolution from FORD so the customers do not have to fork the bill for THEIR faulty PARTS! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

One year ago I experienced my truck down shift to 1st gear suddenly, my truck shut off and a yellow wrench appeared on the dash. I restarted the truck and it ran fine for a week before this happened again. I found a notice from Ford that the NHTSA had required Ford to fix this issue. I took my truck to the local Ford dealer, but they couldn't find the associated code for the problem. They did replace a transmission module. This past week, while driving 65 mph, my truck suddenly down shifted to 1st gear and nearly caused an accident with the vehicles behind me. The same yellow wrench appeared and my truck turned off. This time, at the Ford dealer, they found the code that matched up to the NHTSA alert but they said the repair requirement had expired. I paid $1350.00 for a lead frame replacement. This is exactly the repair required, but Ford would not stand behind the required repair. Do I have any recourse through NHTSA?

The shift 3ª to 4ª are hit
Had recall performed for downshift concerns and on [XXX] my truck tried to downshift while I was driving approximately 40 to 50 mph which was very scary. My question is why didn't the completed recall fix that concern and what can be done about this before it becomes catastrophic if not fatal to have this downshifting concern on my vehicle. Thank you sincerely [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I was driving down the road 8/17/2024, and the wrench came on, I thought I would drive a few miles to my house and then tow to dealer, but the transmission line broke and pumped out all the transmission oil and the truck shifted into neutral or and the transmission was destroyed. The truck lost power to the wheels. Dealership said transmission was destroyed. Only the dealership inspected the parts. The wrench came on 3 miles before the truck lost power.
We had a recall for reprogramming transmission in March 2023 at ford dealer last week my son driving on highway and it downshifted to low speed almost caused a car to hit truck.
2011-2013 Ford F150 models with 6R80 Transmissions have a mechanical defect in the Molded Lead Frame and Output Speed Sensor (OSS). It was recalled under 19N01B and a safety recall 19S07 . I have had several incidents over the past year (2023-2024). When the OSS isn't read the truck will display a orange Wrench symbol and the truck will enter Limp Mode and although it continues to run it has very limited power and the speed and tachometer gauges go to zero. I have had this happen 2x times, both times it is a frightning occurance since it happens suddenly and usually in the flow of traffic. pulling to the side of the road and restarting the truck will clear the problem. I have also had the problem when starting out from a stop light and find the engine revs, but limited forward speed. The transmission will not upshift from 2nd or 3rd gear since the OSS is not reading and the transmission module doesn't know when to shift. Again pulling over and restarting the truck fixes the problem. This has occured 2x time in the past year also. I have taked the truck into a repair facility who has checked it out and could not duplicate the problem. I have had a code scanner connected since the first incident in September 2023, but no codes have thrown. The latest incident August 2024 I did see the Wrench symbol, lost power at appoximently 50mph. The code scanner recorded a P0720 pending code. I took the truck into Les Stumpt Ford for diagnosis. They found no problem and suggested I just keep driving it or replace the Lead Frame. The warranty for Lead Frame replacement ran out in 2019. I did argue that since this is a known mechanical defect Ford should cover it, but without a recall there is no method for a dealer to cover the defect. This is a startling occurance when the problem occurs and since it is well known at Ford i believe it should be a Ford repair. My truck is scheduled for Lead Frame replacement Sept 15th.

Transmission issue? Vehicle is not shifting correctly. Shifting is very rough and we are afraid to drive the vehicle. Local dealer said we can schedule an appointment... it would be 3-4 weeks. No warning lights or messages. (We just had a recall taken care of on our 2014 F150 for a shifting issue but had no symptoms.)

My 2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor experienced the failure condition described in TSB 15-0137 causing sudden and complete loss of power, with no previous warnings, due to the fuel pump relay fuse holder melting and the fuel pump abruptly shutting off. This occurred while my son was driving the vehicle and while he did an admirable job of getting the truck off to the shoulder with no power, he was nevertheless on a freeway onramp around a blind turn with a merge where drivers were attempting to accelerate to highway speed, thus placing him in a dangerous situation for the hour or so it took to get a tow to the Ford dealer for repair. This failure mode (and subsequent repair) has had a TSB for 9 years and clearly has the ability to cause a safety concern, as it did in this case. Had I known about this TSB, I would have implemented it proactively given the severity of the potential failure and the high likelihood for it causing a safety issue. There are already dozens of complaints on this exact topic in NHTSA's database. Please consider elevating this safety-related defect to a full recall.
Chain guide and tensioners are made not strong enough and the chain gets lose and rattle wen starting up

Truck downshifts when trying to increase speed. Truck will not shift into all gears, the check engine light comes on, the speed odometer goes to zero and the miles per gallon screen goes blank. All these items happen at the same time while driving. Today the truck wouldn’t take off. I had to shift gears manually to drive it with the console gear shift +/- buttons
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that occasionally while driving at various speeds, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted into 1st gear and the speedometer fell to zero. The contact pulled over onto the shoulder of the roadway and turned off and restarted the vehicle. The “Service Vehicle Soon” message was displayed when the vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the lead frame and powertrain control module needed to be replaced. This is a longstanding issue and I've provided language from the Edmunds website to describe: " The defect has been traced to an output speed sensor on the vehicle's transmission lead frame. Under certain conditions, the transmission controls could force a temporary downshift into first gear. Depending on the speed of the vehicle at the time of the downshift, the driver could experience an abrupt speed reduction that could cause the rear tires to slide or lock up. This condition could result in loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Affected vehicles are equipped with a 6R80 transmission." Around 2020, I brought the vehicle to a local Ford/Lincoln dealer, and the powertrain control module software was updated. The update only keeps the transmission from affecting the shift to 1st gear. If related diagnostic trouble codes had been present they would have replaced the lead frame at no cost to the customer. An additional dangerous condition occurs, for roughly 5 seconds, where the transmission will not transmit engine power to the wheels. The warranty extension was for 10 years or 150,000 miles from the warranty start date. The problem is there should not have been a time component to the warranty extension. If they were willing to extend to 150,000 miles no other limitation should have been allowed. Nearly anytime I need to accelerate to pass on the highway the transmission will try to shift into 1st gear. I'm forced to have to drive in manual shift mode as the 5-second power lag described previously has caused a few very dangerous situations that nearly caused accidents. So for 4 years now the problem has been getting progressively worse to the point that I've had to make unnecessary changes to how I drive the vehicle. It is an automatic and I should not have to use manual mode for it to function or be safe.

Reference Ford program 19N01 This is an ongoing issue with Ford F150's. This program allows for coverage within 10 years or 100,000 miles. My truck has approximately 78,000 miles. There is a defective sensor in the transmission that when not properly working, causes the transmission to drop into 1st gear and stay there, in other words, not shifting. There are multiple warning lamps when this happens and it has happened multiple times. My vehicle has been inspected by a Ford dealer and they confirmed the issue. However, because the truck is over 10 years old, Ford will not cover the repairs which cost in excess of $1,700. Since this is an ongoing issue with over 1/2 million Ford trucks, this repair should be covered most importantly because it is a safety issue. I don't have a repair invoice yet as my truck is in the process of being repaired. Will provide upon receipt. Thank you!
Driving down the highway fling 55 mph and truck shifts into 1st gear and almost makes me wreck. Part previously under recall but Ford says they will not fix. Original recall 19n01. Shut off vehicle and turned back on. I thought everything was normal but then a mild down the road the truck would not shift out of 3rd gear. This is a safety issue. I'm afraid to drive because of the chance of wrecking. During the entire time the odometer and speedometer both show zero so guessing speed.

The transmission shifts down to 1st gear while at highway speeds. The transmission does not shift to 1st gear every time the vehicle comes to a complete stop. The transmission hard shifts at unusual times. Mechanic has downloaded an OSS fault.
My 2013 Ford F-150 King Ranch suddenly downshifted while traveling at highway speeds. It downshifted into 5th gear, not 1st, luckily. This has occurred twice and I will take my truck to my local dealer tomorrow morning. A few years ago, I had transmission work completed because my truck was stuck in first gear and required tuning off the engine to get it back to shifting properly. At that time, I was unaware of the 2019 recall for the transmission control module and speed sensor, and spent money on the repair because my local ford dealer denied that this was part of the recall. I now suspect that was not true.
Transmission shifts erratically; downshifted at highway speeds promptly. There is a current recall of the 2014 model F150 with what is the same issue. I went to a local shop to have the computer scanned for any problem codes. They were P0722-00 Output Shaft Speedsensor on Leadframe

The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
I had all the recalls done to my vehicle that pertains to a problem with my vehicle suddenly shifting to first gear at freeway speeds. This was done about two years ago. On July 7th, 2024 my vehicle suddenly shifted to first gear while traveling at a rate of 55 miles per hour. My rear tires suddenly locked up and I lost control of my vehicle. Luckily I avoided an accident. I’m reporting this information because Ford’s recall to this problem did not solve the issue and this can cause accidents.
