ON THE NIGHT OF JULY 12 2018, I TOOK MY WIFE AND MY 3YR OLD TO A STORE IN MY 2014 F150 WITH ONLY 37,300 MILES, EVERYTHING FELT NORMAL ON THE TRUCK WITH NO INDICATIONS OF ANY MECHANICAL PROBLEMS. ON OUR WAY BACK HOME WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65MPH I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN FOR A MERGING CAR AND MY FOOT WENT CLEAR TO THE FLOOR BOARD AND NO BRAKES WHAT SO EVER, AT THE SAME TIME A WARNING CAME ON THE DASH THAT SAID 'BRAKE FLUID LEVEL LOW'. THIS COULD HAVE ENDED HORRIBLE IF IT WOULD HAVE BEEN AROUND RUSH HOUR. LUCKILY THERE WAS LIGHT TRAFFIC AND I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE TRUCK WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND EMERGENCY BRAKE. AFTER THIS WAS OVER I CHECKED THE BRAKE CYLINDER AND IT WAS EMPTY, I KNOW IT WAS FULL BUT THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF LEAKS, AFTER FILLING IT BACK UP I TOOK IT FOR A DRIVE AND IN JUST 2 MILES IT WAS EMPTY AGAIN WITH MO BRAKES. THE TECH AT THE FORD DEALER SAID THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER WENT OUT AND THAT THE FLUID LEAKED INTO THE BOOSTER. THIS DIDNT JUST PUT MY LIFE IN DANGER, IT WAS ALSO MY WIFE AND 3YR OLD AND ANY DRIVER AROUND ME. HOW DOES A TRUCK LOOSE SOMETHING AS IMPORTANT AS THE BRAKES AT ONLY 37,000 MILES?
THROTTLE BODY FAILURE WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON MAJOR HIGHWAY WITH NOWHERE TO PULL OVER - TOTAL LOSS OF ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING
LOST STEERING MOMENTARILY WHILE DRIVING UNDER DRY, NORMAL CONDITIONS ON A MOUNTAINOUS HIWAY AND CROSSED LEFT OF CENTER WHEN POWER ASSISTED STEERING FAILED. HILL DESCENT CONTROL FAULT AND SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC ERRORS APPEARED ON MY PANEL. DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND COMPUTER GENERATED ERRORS AND COULD NOTR/DID NOT REPAIR. HAS OCCURED TWICE MORE WITH SAME RESULTS.
THE BRAKE FLUID WAS COMPLETELY DRAINED ON MY 2014 F-150 SUPER CREW 3.5 ECOBOOST TRUCK. WHILE THIS MEETS A RECALL FOR THE VEHICLE YEAR AND ENGINE TYPE, MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 46000 MILES AND THE BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY SHOT. VERY SCARY SITUATION AND COULD HAVE ENDED HORRIBLY. LUCKILY I GOT IT TO A FORD DEALER. ISSUE IS A LEAK IN THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER. I WAS IN MOTION AND THE BRAKES STOPPED WORKING. I PUSHED THE BRAKES TO THE FLOOR AND SLOWLY ROLLED TO A STOP AND WOULD HAVE CONTINUED WITHOUT A PARKING CURB STOPPING MY PROGRESS. THANKFULLY I WAS NOT ON A HIGHWAY BUT IN A PARKING LOT WHEN THIS HAPPENED.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO SCHEDULE A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT WITH A DEALER TO DETERMINE IF THE FAILURE WAS COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SILL-TERHAR MOTORS (LOCATED AT 150 ALTER ST, BROOMFIELD, CO 80020, (303) 469-1801) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (PHIL LONG FORD, 1212 MOTOR CITY DRIVE, COLORADO SPRINGS, CO 80905) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 39,100.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SIMMONS-ROCKWELL FORD (1160 CO RD 66, HORNELL, NY 14843, (607) 324-4444) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIMING BELT WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
MY BRAKE FLUID LIGHT WENT OFF WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. I TURNED AROUND TO HEAD HOME AND WITHIN TEN MINUTES I HAD LOST ALL BREAKING ABILITY. HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS 'BREAK FLUID LEAKING FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER INTO BREAK BOOST' AND THEN REPAIRED BY REPLACING A NUMBER OF PARTS. I UNDERSTAND THAT MY TRUCK WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL OF THE SAME ISSUE BECAUSE IT WAS MANUFACTURED TWO MONTHS AFTER THE RECALL DATES, BUT I AM CONCERNED THAT MY TRUCK SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 44 MPH, THE LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, WHICH PREVENTED THE BRAKE SYSTEM FROM ENGAGING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR AND ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO FORD LINCOLN OF FRANKLIN TENNESSEE (1129 MURFREESBORO ROAD, FRANKLIN, TENNESSEE 37064, 615-544-7054). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V345000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAY SCREEN FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SCREEN INTERMITTENTLY FROZE AND FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT HEARD AN ALARM AND THE SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO UNLOCK THE DOOR. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED A MINOR INJURY THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TOWED TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER LOCATED IN ALHAMBRA, CALIFORNIA FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 56,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY TRUCK LOSSED ALL THROTTLE POWER. A WRENCH ICON CAME UP ON MY SCREEN AND I HAD TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY ONTO THE SHOULDER. WHEN I STOPPED THE TRUCK WAS SHUDDERING REALLY BAD AND WOULDN'T MOVE. I TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT. THE WRENCH WENT AWAY AND IT WOULD MOVE AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY WAS STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I'LL BE REPLACING THE SAME PART. FIRST TIME WAS UNDER WARRANTY THIS TIME WON'T BE. BUT WHEN THIS PART FAILS IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. IF IT HAD FAILED WHILE I WAS CROSSING LANES OF TRAFFIC I COULD'VE BEEN IN A ACCIDENT. YOU LOSE ALL THROTTLE CONTROL WHEN IT STICKS.
I HAVE A 2014 FORD F-150 MOTOR 5.0 I WAS STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY WITH ALL MY FAMILY ABOARD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND 18 WHEELS SPEED CLOSE BY MY SIDE . THE TRUCK JUST SHUT DOWN ON ME WITHOUT NOTICE , ON THE DASH IT SHOWED I STILL HAD 45 MILES BEFORE EMPTY AND THE LIGHT FOR THE GAS NEVER WENT ON . I CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THEY HAVE TO SEND A TOW TRUCK TO PICK US AND LEFT US AT A DEALER NEAREST TO WHERE THE TRUCK SHUT DOWN . WE DID NOT HAVE ANY IDEA IF IT NEED OIL OR GAS MY DAUGHTER DROVE ABOUT 4 1/2 HRS TO GET TO US AS WE WAITED FOR AT A 24 RESTAURANT TILL SHE GOT TO US WE WENT BACK TO THE DEALER TO TRY TO ADD GAS TO THE TRUCK AND TO OUR SURPRISE THE TRUCK STARTED ON THE FIRST TRY . I HEARD THERE IS A RECALL AT THIS TIME ON A FORD FOCUS THAT SO HAPPENED TO HAVE THE SAME PART & PROBLEM WE ENCOUNTERED . RELATED WITH THE GAS TANK
BREAKERS COMPLETELY FAILED. BREAK FLUID LEAKS OUT WITH NO VISIBLE LEAKS.
VEHICLE DEVELOPS A COOLANT LEAK FROM THE QUICK CONNECT FITTINGS ON THE TURBO. THE LEAK STARTED AT 30K MILES. FITTINGS CIRCLED IN GREEN LEAKED FIRST. THEN THE BLUE ONES BEGAN LEAKING AT 31K MILES AND WHEN REPAIRING THE ONES IN YELLOW WERE REQUIRED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL
SERVICE ADVANCETRACK AND SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHTS ILUMINATED WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY IN A STRAIGHT LINE. NO SHARP TURNS OR HARD BRAKING, JUST SRAIGHT LINE DRIVING.

I WAS DRIIVING ON I-55 NB AT MM 120 ON SAT 6/2/2018. THE LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AS MY BRAKES STOPPED WORKIG. FORTUNATELY I HAD AN RV WHICH DID STILL HAVE BRAKES. THERE WAS NO BRAKE FLUID IN SYTEM AND NO VISIBLE LEAKS. I ADDED 2 CANS OF FLUID BUT IT WAS GONE IN 2 MILES. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TOTHE FORD DEALER IN BLOOMINTON, IL.AND ON MONDAY I WAS TOLD ITHE BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. I SEE ONLINE THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM ( YOUR #16V345000) (FORD #16S24). THE DEALER SAYS MY VIN IS NOT COVERED BUT I LOST MY BRAKES AT 60 MPH AND FEEL IT SHOULD BE COVERED, IT'S THE SAME ISSUE.

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CORWIN FORD (3241 S. GLENSTONE AVE, SPRINGFIELD, MO) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. AFTER THE CONTACT RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE, THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
WHILE IN MOTION AT HIGHWAY SPEED (55-70MPH) AND CITY SPEED (20-35MPH)THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND/OR HESITATED UPON ACCELERATION SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF 3 DAYS THE MIDDLE OF MAY 2018. AFTER DIAGNOSIS BY FORD DEALERSHIP THAT TIMING CHAIN ON THE ECOBOOST ENGINE WITH ONLY ABOUT 75,000 MILES ON IT REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. ABOUT 5 DAYS AFTER TIMING CHAIN REPLACEMENT THE HESITATION RETURNED AND UPON DIAGNOSIS BY FORD DEALERSHIP IT WAS DETERMINED THE PHASERS WERE BAD. DESPITE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND REPORTS OF THIS OCCURRING IN 2011-2015 FORD F 150 ECOBOOST MODELS IN AMERICA AND CANADA FORD REFUSES TO ADMIT THERE IS A DEFECT. WHILE MAYBE NOT DIRECTLY A SAFETY ISSUE I BELIEVE IT IS AS ONE OF THE FAILURES OCCURRED ON THE INTERSTAE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WHILE PASSING A SEMI TRUCK AND POWER WAS LOST AND EVASIVE ACTION HAD TO BE TAKEN TO AVOID A COLLISION DUE TO THE TIMING CHAIN POWER FAILURE. CAN'T ARGUE WITH WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED, IF THAT ISNT A SAFETY CONCERN FOR FORD OR THE NHTSA I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS. DEFECTIVE SYSTEM FOR 2011-2015 FORD F150 ECOBOOSTS
THE POWER STEERING FAULTS WHILE DRIVING AND THERE IS NO STEERING
BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON AND BRAKES FAIL TO OPERATE WHILE DRIVING. BRAKE FLUID DRAINING FOR MASTER CYLINDER AND ENTERING BOOSTER
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY ROAD IN A 45MPH ZONE, MY DASH WARNING LIGHT FOR BRAKE, AND WARNING TEXT SAYING BRAKE FLUID LOW CAME ON. THEN LESS THAN A MINUTE LATER, BEFORE REACHING MY DESTINATION, WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, AND STOPPING POWER WAS PRACTICALLY NONEXISTENT. I WAS ABLE TO STOP, BUT NOT UNTIL AFTER BLOWING THROUGH A YIELD SIGN AT A CORNER. I DOWNSHIFTED MY TRANSMISSION TO SLOW DOWN, AND STANDING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL DID ALLOW SOME SMALL AMOUNT OF BRAKING TO HELP ME TO A STOP. I HAPPENED TO BE IN FRONT OF AN OREILLY AUTO PARTS STORE SO I WENT IN AND BOUGHT A BOTTLE OF BRAKE FLUID, THINKING/HOPING IT WAS JUST A LOW RESERVOIR THAT HADN'T BEEN NOTICED FOR 3 YEARS? AFTER OBSERVING THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS BELOW THE "MIN" LEVEL I FILLED TO "MAX" AND PROCEEDED DOWN THE ROAD TO MY DESTINATION, KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE BRAKE ACTION. LESS THAN A MINUTE LATER THE LIGHTS CAME ON AND IT STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN. THAT'S WHEN I PARKED, AND WAITED FOR A FRIEND. WE BOUGHT A COUPLE MORE BOTTLES OF BRAKE FLUID AND I FILLED IT UP AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER AS BEST I COULD WITHOUT RUNNING INTO ANYTHING, AND LEFT IT THERE FOR THEM TO FIX.
2014 F-150 3.5L ECOBOOST. ENGINE WILL COMPLETELY LOSE POWER AND GO INTO "LIMP MODE" WITH ORANGE WRENCH. DEALER CLAIMS THEY CANNOT RETRIEVE PROBLEM CODE SO I BOUGHT A OBD SCANNER AND DTC CODE READS AS P2112. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I WILL HAVE TO GET THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. THE FIRST TIME THE TRUCK HAD APPROX. 62,000 MILES ON IT, THIS TIME IT HAS APPROX. 111,000. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. BOTH TIMES THIS PART HAS FAILED I HAVE HAD MY ENTIRE FAMILY IN THE TRUCK AND HAVE HAD TO LITERALLY DODGE SEMI TRUCKS AND OTHER CARS NEARLY CAUSING SERIOUS ACCIDENTS TO MAKE IT TO A SAFE SHOULDER. WAITING FOR A FACTORY RECALL, I WILL NOT LET THIS GO. IM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AT THIS POINT.
ON 25 MAY18, MY 2014 F-150 BEGAN COMPLETELY LOSING THROTTLE CONTROL. WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE ONTO THE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH, MY TRUCK WOULD SHUT OFF WITH COMPLETE LOSS OF THROTTLE RESPONSE, A WRENCH ICON APPEARED, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I COASTED TO THE SHOULDER SAFELY WITHOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. AT COMPLETE STOP, I HAD NO THROTTLE AND A ROUGH ENGINE IDLE. I RESTARTED THE TRUCK AND DROVE HOME WITHOUT ISSUE. THE FOLLOWING MORNING I DROVE THE TRUCK 70 MILES ROUND TRIP WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE FOLLOWING EVENING, I LOST THROTTLE X2 WITHIN .5 MILES WHEN I LEFT MY HOUSE. I DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP, 3 MILES AWAY, AND THE THROTTLE WENT OUT 4 MORE TIMES WITHOUT WARNING CREATING A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WHEN MAKING TURNS IN INTERSECTIONS WHEN I HAD COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THE FAILURE WAS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. UPON RESEARCH, I FOUND A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST FORD FOR SAID ISSUE, HOWEVER MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT "IMPACTED" BUT THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM. REPLACEMENT COST QUOTED BY FORD WAS $373.66 AND INSPECTION RECOMMENDATION OF "PERFORMING FUEL INJECTION AND THROTTLE BODY SERVICE." AH, THROTTLE BODY WOULD SERVICE WOULD COME UNDER REPLACEMENT, RIGHT? THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT REP AGREED "I DIDN'T EVEN THINK OF THAT." CREATED A CASE # UNDER THE "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM" BUT MADE NO HEADWAY ON A KNOWN ISSUE. WILL STILL COST $200 OUT OF POCKET WITH EXTENDED WARRANTY. NOT A VERY SATISFIED CUSTOMER - KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE CONTROL AND TAKING NO OWNERSHIP OF ISSUE BY FORD
THE 20 AMP FUSE FOR THE FUEL PUMP RELAY OVERHEATED AND MELTED CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STOP. THIS PROBLEM HAD BEEN SHOWING UP INTERMITTENTLY, ONLY WHEN STARTING, FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS. SEARCHED ON-LINE AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR F150 TRUCKS AND THAT FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, HAS ISSUED A SERVICE KIT TO CHANGE THE FUSE TO A LARGER VERSION BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL.
FORD F-150 2014 HAD AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT CAUSED IT TO GO UP IN FLAMES AS I WAS DRIVING IT DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 60 MILES AN HOUR. I FIRST SMELLED A BURNING ODOR, THEN I LOOKED IN MY REVIEW MIRROR AND SAW SMOKE, THEN I STARTED SEEING FLAMES IN THE BACK PASSENGER CORNER OF MY BACK SEATS. BY THIS TIME THE TRUCK WAS VERY SMOKY BUT I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL ASIDE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. I MADE AN ATTEMPT TO OPEN MY DRIVER'S DOOR, BUT IT WOULDN'T OPEN AND I THEN BROKE THE GLASS TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM INSIDE OUT. AS I EXITED MY VEHICLE AND WALKED AROUND THE BACK OF THE TRUCK I GRABBED A TOWEL OUT THE BED OF THE TRUCK AND GOT ON THE GROUND TO TRY AND STOP THE FLAMES AT THAT TIME I COULD SEE A WIRE BURNING BETWEEN THE BED AND THE PASSENGER CAB OF THE TRUCK AS IT MADE LOUD POPPING NOISES, THEN THE TRUCK JUST BURST INTO FLAMES. I CALLED 911 AND THEY CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT , THEY CAME OUT ON THE SCENE AND PUT THE FIRE OUT.
TRUCK HAS 46665 MILES. WHEN DRIVING FIRST 10 MINUTES (CITY DRIVING) VEHICLE SHUDDERS, SHOWS WRENCH INDICATOR AND GOES INTO LIMP HOME MODE (NO ACCELERATOR). HAVE TO PULL OVER, TURN OFF IGNITION AND RESTART ENGINE. PROBLEM CODE SHOWS P2112 (THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM...STUCK CLOSED). THIS MAY HAPPEN 3 TIMES IN FIRST 15 MINUTES OF DRIVING, BUT THEN GOES AWAY WHEN CAR WARMS UP. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED ABNORMAL EXHAUST SMOKE AND BAD GAS MILEAGE. HAVING TRUCK GO INTO LIMP HOME MODE IN MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC IS VERY DANGEROUS.
AT 40,000 MILES, HAD TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED (EXTENDED WARRANTY, SO COST NOT MATERIAL TO ME). CONCERN IS THAT ON A 1300 MILE INTERSTATE ROUND-TRIP, MY ENGINE SHUT DOWN 5 TIMES. IN EACH CASE I LOST ALL ACCELERATION WITHOUT WARNING AND HAD TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER OF THE INTERSTATE. MY DASH SHOWED A WRENCH SYMBOL, WHICH WOULD DISAPPEAR AFTER I HAD TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, THEN BACK ON (AS IF NOTHING EVER HAPPENED). I SUBSEQUENTLY LEARNED THAT A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY PUT ME INTO A "LIMP HOME" MODE MEANING I COULD CONTINUE DRIVING ONLY AT IDLE SPEED. THE LIMP HOME MODE (I LEARNED THIS TERM FROM READING A CUSTOMER BLOG) CAUSED IMMEDIATE DECELERATION ON THE INTERSTATE AT FULL SPEED 3 OF THE FIVE TIMES MY ENGINE SHUT DOWN. HAD I JUST PASSED ANOTHER VEHICLE OR HAD AN INATTENTIVE DRIVER FOLLOWING ME, I VERY WELL COULD HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED. A FORD DEALER, MIDWAY THROUGH MY ROUND TRIP, COULD NOT DETERMINE A REPAIR CODE FOR THIS SITUATION. ONLY AFTER THE 5TH ENGINE SHUT DOWN, DID A "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT APPEAR. THIS ALLOWED A SECOND FORD DEALER, AT THE END OF MY TRIP, THE DOCUMENTATION NEEDED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION...THE FIRST FORD DEALER SENT ME ON MY WAY DESPITE WHAT NOW APPEARS TO BE A WELL-KNOWN PROBLEM "INTERNALLY" AT FORD. THE 2ND DEALERSHIP MIRACULOUSLY HAD A REPLACEMENT PART ON HAND AND MADE THE NECESSARY REPAIR WITHIN 8 HOURS...I BELIEVE ONLY BECAUSE I STRESSED THE POINT ABOUT UNSAFE TRAVEL!
I WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK ON A STREET AND HEARD AN AUDIBLE CHIME, A FULL SCREEN MESSAGE CENTER ALERT APPEARED, AND ILLUMINATION OF THE RED BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR. MECHANIC IDENTIFIED THIS AS SAME ISSUE AS NHTSA CAMPAIGN: 16V345000 OR FORD RECALL PROGRAM CODE: 16S24 : BRAKE MASTER CYLINDERS FAILURE RESULTING IN BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE FROM THE PRIMARY RESERVOIR INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID FROM THE PRIMARY RESERVOIR RESULTS IN A COMPLETE LOSS OF FRONT BRAKE FUNCTION, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. I'M TRYING TO DETERMINE WHY THIS TRUCK IS NOT CONSIDERED PART OF THE KNOWN RECALL, THE TRUCK MEETS THE RECALL SPECS AND WAS MANUFACTURED AT THE PLANT SPECIFIED IN ATTACHED DOCUMENT FROM FORD. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THIS TRUCK INDICATES A BUILD DATE OF 9/8/2014 AND RECALL DATE END IS 8/31/2014. THE TRUCK STILL EXPERIENCED RECALL BRAKE FAILURE, I'D REQUEST THAT THE RECALL DATE BE EXTENDED TO INCLUDE TRUCKS BUILT AFTER 8/31/2014.
3 TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED, 1ST TIME I HAD JUST FILLED UP WENT TO PULL OFF AND PROCEEDED TO GET ON HIGHWAY, TRUCK STARTED TO RUN ROUGH AND HAD NO THROTTLE RESPONSE AND WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. PULLED OFF ROAD, TURNED OFF, AFTER A FEW MINUTES RESTARTED TRUCK AND NO PROBLEMS THE REST OF THE DAY. THE 2ND TIME I WAS GETTING READY TO GET ON THE INTERSTATE AND TRUCK DID THE SAME THING STARTED RUNNING ROUGH, NO THROTTLE RESPONSE AND WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. PULLED ON SHOULDER AND SHUT VEHICLE OFF, RESTARTED AFTER A FEW MINUTES AGAIN AFTER THE RESTART NO PROBLEMS ( NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT EITHER TIME). THEN ON THE SAME EVENING IT DID IT AGAIN AND IN TRAFFIC THIS TIME AND WITH NO WHERE TO PULL OVER. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM, EVERY FORD FORUM TALKS ABOUT THE PROBLEM ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO THE ECOBOOST. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED WITH THIS PROBLEM. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AND THERE WAS A TSB TO RELOCATE THE FUEL PUMP DRIVER FUSE BECAUSE THEY SAY IT GETS HOT AND SHORTS OUT( IF THAT'S THE CASE IT SHOULDN'T DO IT RIGHT AFTER INITIAL START UP). AGAIN FORD IS PLAYING WITH PEOPLE'S LIVES; ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS THE DOLLARS. .
I PARKED THE VEHICLE FOR THE EVENING, AND APPLIED THE EBRAKE. THE NEXT DAY, I ENTERED THE VEHICLE, AND PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SAFELY DISENGAGE THE EBRAKE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR-NO BRAKES. I OPENED THE HOOD, AND SAW AN EMPTY MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR. I CHECKED FOR LEAKS UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETECT A POINT OF FLUID LOSS. AS THE FLUID HAD TO BE SOMEWHERE, I REMOVED THE VACUUM LINE FROM THE VACUUM BOOSTER, AND FOUND THE ID OF THE HOSE WAS WET. I ADDED A FULL PINT OF DOT 4 BRAKE FLUID, AND PUMPED THE BRAKES MULTIPLE TIMES. THIS RESULTED IN THE DRAINING OF THE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR. I THEN HAD A FRIEND TOW MY TRUCK VIA FLATBED, TO MY DEALER. UPON INSPECTION, THE SERVICE TECH FOUND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO AN INTERNAL FAILURE OF THE MASTER CYLINDER. THIS MATCHED EXACTLY THE PROBLEM WITNESSED DURING THE 2013-2014 F-150 RECALL FOR SEAL FAILURE OF THE MASTER CYLINDER. THIS RECALL WAS FOR CERTAIN FORD F-150'S WITH 3.5 LITER ENGINES BUILT THRU AUG. 31ST 2014. MY VEHICLE IS OF THE SAME CONFIGURATION, BUT WAS BUILT IN NOV. 2014. I CONSIDER MYSELF LUCKY THAT THE BRAKE FAILURE (COMPLETE, WITHOUT WARNING), DIDN'T HAPPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. I BELIEVE THAT THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED.
2014 FORD F-150 ECOBOOST - AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH VEHICLE WILL SHIFT INTO 1ST CAUSING THE REAR TIRES TO LOCK UP. WILL THEN SHIFT BACK TO 5TH OR 6TH AND DRIVE NORMAL. HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO WARNING BEFORE IT HAPPENS. ALSO WILL SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 5TH WHEN PULLING OUT AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. WILL HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURN VEHICLE OFF, THEN RESTART. SOMETIMES IT WILL LOSE ALL GAUGES WHEN DOING THIS AND THROW A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL GO OUT AS SOON AS RESTARTED. AGAIN, NO WARNING AHEAD OF TIME WHEN IT DOES THIS. SEEMS TO BE THE SAME ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED IN EARLIER MODEL FORD F-150S. HAVE SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT WITH FORD DEALER.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving highway speeds, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted to first gear without warning. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where the failure was acknowledged, and the dealer performed a software update that the contact was informed would solve the failure. Despite the software update, the failure worsened upon return of the vehicle. The contact then reached out to another dealer that stated that the software update was no longer performed due to the update worsening the failure. The dealer refused to service the vehicle and directed the contact back to the original dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and acknowledged that the failure was a known issue. The manufacturer also informed the contact of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train) and a case was filed. The failure mileage was unknown.
WHILE TRAVELING 75 MPH ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK MY TRUCK JUST SHUT OFF. THERE WERE ONLY 2 LANES WITH NO SHOULDER. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR KILLED OTHERS. I GOT LUCKY. I TOOK THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AND SAID I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. OF COURSE I AM OUT OF WARRANTY AND BEING FORCE TO PAY THE $400 BILL. THE SERVICE GUY PROCEEDS TO TELL ME THAT FORD KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE YEARS AGO BUT IT'S NOT COMMON ANY MORE. WHY ON EARTH WAS THIS NOT RECALLED. IF FORD KNEW ABOUT A PROBLEM WITH THEIR VEHICLES THAT COULD POTENTIALLY KILL THEIR CUSTOMERS OR OTHER TRAVELERS THEN THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE THE RIGHT THING AND RECALLED THE VEHICLE!
The rear defrost functionality has stopped on my 2014 F150 with sliding rear window. This causes visibility issues in certain weather conditions.
THROTTLE BODY WENT OUT AFTER 40,000 MILES. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WRENCH ICON POPS UP AND A FEW SECONDS LATER THE TRUCK STALLS AND ENGINE CUTS OUT. TAKE IT TO FORD AND THAT PART IS NOT COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY.. BIG SURPRISE. TALK TO CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY WILL DO EITHER. SO OUT 600 BECAUSE FORD KNOWINGLY SELLS THESE VEHICLES WHEN THEY KNOW THAT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM.
I WAS SITTING IDLE IN MY FORD F-150 TRUCK (ENGINE RUNNING) IN THE DRIVE-THROUGH AT MCDONALDS, NOT MOVING, WHEN THERE WAS SUDDENLY A LOUD BANG INSIDE THE TRUCK (LIKE A GUNSHOT). THERE WAS ALSO AN ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL. I LOOKED AROUND AND SAW THAT THE REAR QUARTER GLASS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF MY REAR WINDSHIELD HAD SHATTERED. THE REAR SCREEN HEATER WAS ON AT THE TIME. THERE WAS NOTHING THROWN AT THE TRUCK, AND NOTHING HIT IT. THE GLASS HAD TOTALLY SHATTERED ACROSS BUT WAS BEING HELD INTACT BY THE FACTORY TINT. I HAD TO HAVE THE GLASS REPLACED AT A COST OF $750, AS THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE INDIVIDUAL BROKEN PIECE OF GLASS CANNOT BE REPLACED, SO THE WHOLE REAR SCREEN HAD TO BE REPLACED. I DISCONNECTED THE REAR SCREEN HEATER ON MY REPLACEMENT SCREEN TO MAKE SURE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. READING ONLINE IT SOUNDS AS THOUGH THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE, AND AN EXPENSIVE FIX. MOREOVER, ALL OF MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIPS HAD SOLD OUT OF THE REAR WINDOW AND WOULD HAVE TAKEN UP TO 16 DAYS TO ORDER IN (AND AT A COST OF $850+ !!), WHICH MAKES ME THINK THIS IS MORE COMMON ISSUE THAN FORD IS LETTING ON. LUCKILY I FOUND A LOCAL COMPANY THAT WOULD DO IT A FEW DAYS LATER, BUT AGAIN, AT A COST OF $750 TO ME FOR A DEFECTIVE PART WHICH SHOULD BE RECALLED. DURING THE TIME I HAD TO USE THE TRUCK WITH A SHATTERED REAR WINDOW, I TAPED IT UP TO PREVENT THE GLASS SPILLING INTO THE TRUCK INTERIOR (CAN BE SEEN IN THE PICTURE).
THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING IS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY, ABOUT EVERY QUARTER TURN IT BINDS UP FOR A SORT DISTANCE. THIS CAUSES YOU TO BOTH OVER-STEER AND UNDER-STEER
2014 FORD F150 SPLIT/POWERED/HEATED REAR WINDOW POPPED AND CRACKED WHEN USING THE DEFROSTER CAUSING THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WINDOW PANE TO SHATTER (SPIDER WEB). THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT A RED LIGHT WHEN THE WINDOW POPPED.
WHEN YOU GO TO STOP AT STOP SIGN YOU HAVE YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR. IF YOU HAVE TO DYNAMITE THE BRAKES, IT GOES TO THE FLOOR. IF YOU HAVE TO STOP IN A HURRY, SUCH AS A DEER CROSSING IN FRONT OF YOU, YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO STOP, WHICH IS A SCARY SITUATION. HAVE BEEN TO FORD DEALER ON 4/11/2018, REPLACED BRAKE PADS, ROTORS, STILL DID NOT CORRECT THE SITUATION, AND REPAIR BILL FOR $897.00. THEN ON 4/23/18, WENT BACK TO FORD DEALER AND HAD BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED AND STILL DID NOT CORRECT THE SITUATION AND THIS REPAIR BILL WAS $459.00. THIS IS NOT A GOOD SITUATION TO BE IN AND AM WONDERING IF THIS A FORD DEFECT
WHEN WE HAD OUR TIRES ROTATED ALL 24 LUG NUTS HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WERE OVERLY TIGHT THEY WERE CHROME COVERED LUG NUTS AND DURING REMOVAL THEY WERE DAMAGED. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE NEWER TRUCKS. THEY EXPAND AND CONTRACT WHICH MAKE THEM IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE WITHOUT DAMAGING. THEY COST 7.59 EACH AND ALL 24 HAD TO BE REPLACED. EACH TIME WE HAVE OUR TIRES ROTATED WE WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE LUG NUTS. DUE TO THIS ISSUE. WE SPOKE WITH OTHER REPAIR SHOPS AND THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE.
LOSS OF POWER STEERING- IN MARCH 2018 THIS STARTED HAPPENING, TO DATE IT HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES. THE FIRST TIME I WAS PULLING OUT OF GROCERY STORE, MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND THE " SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" "HILL DECENT CONTROL FAULT" CAME ON MY SCREEN, I WAS IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC, SECOND TIME I WAS TURNING INTO MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND LOSS THE ABILITY TO TURN MY WHEEL, 3RD TIME WAS GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY AND AT AN ONRAMP, THIS TIME I WAS HEADED INTO A HIGHWAY PERPENDICULAR AND CARS WERE COMING AT ME 70+ MPH. THEN MY SON AND I WERE TURNING ONTO A HIGHWAY WHEN I LOST CONTROL OF STEERING AND LOCKED UP MY BRAKES TO KEEP FROM HITTING A SEMI- THEY HAD TO LOCK THEIR BRAKES UP AND SWERVE TO KEEP FROM HITTING US. THEN TODAY I GOT IT BACK, AND MADE IT 1 MILE DOWN THE ROAD BEFORE AGAIN I WAS GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY AND I COULD NOT TURN MY WHEEL, AN EMBANKMENT KEPT ME FROM GOING PERPENDICULAR ONTO THE HIGHWAY AGAIN. POLICE CAME AND HELPED ME GET BACK OVER AND BLOCKED CARS FROM HITTING ME . EACH TIME I HAVE TAKEN MY TRUCK TO MATTHEWS FORD TO BE FIXED, EACH TIME I WAS TOLD IT WAS FIXED, I AM NOT COMPLAINING ON THEM AS I FEEL THEY HAVE GENUINELY DONE WHAT THEY THOUGHT WOULD FIX IT. THE STAFF HAS BEEN MORE THAN ACCOMMODATING CONSIDERING I WAS SHAKING, CRYING AND CUSSING. FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS STATED TAY CANNOT HELP ME AS MY RUCK WAS NOT IN THE 2014 F150 RECALL #14S09. IT WAS JUST A MONTH SHY OF IT. I HAVE HAD NO RETURN CALLS FROM MANAGEMENT AS PROMISED ( FROM FORD) I WAS TOLD MY CASE WOULD BE EXPEDITED DUE TO POSSIBLE DEATH/INJURY AND I WOULD HEAR FROM MANAGER WITHIN 24 HOURS, AND THAT NEVER HAPPENED. PLEASE HELP! ATTACHED ARE ALL THE SERVICE REPORTS MINUS THE ONE TODAY.
REAR DRIVERS SIDE PANEL WWINDSHIELD SHATTERED . TURNED ON REAR WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER AND AFTER A MINUTE OR SO HEARD A LARGE BANG. WAS DRIVING TO WORK. STRAIGHT. TEMP WA IN THE LOW TWENTIES. GOT SNOW AND ICE IN LAKE COUNTY ILLINOIS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (TOM'S FORD IN KEYPORT, NEW JERSEY) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000.
Coil packs need constant changing in this vehicle. I’ve owned it almost 8 years and sometimes I would have to change the coil packs more than 1 time a year. Obviously I would change the spark plugs also. But there is always a misfire. A lot with 3 and 5.
