THE REAR DEFROSTER SHATTERED THE REAR WINDOW.
2014 FORD F-150. CONSUMER WRITES SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS TO THROTTLE BODY EVEN THOUGH WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. CONSUMER STATES THAT REPAIR WAS A FACTORY DEFECT. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED, BUT RECURRED. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE SECOND FAILURE. *JS *JS
BACK SLIDING WINDOW SHATTERED FOR NO REASON. TRUCK WAS IN DRIVEWAY WARMING UP
POWER STEERING FAULT AND SERVICE ADVANSTRAC MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON START UP WHILE PARKED, LOST ALL POWER STEERING IN TRUCK. I TOOK TO LOCAL FORD DEALER, BOB BELL FORD, GLEN BURNIE, MD 21061. DEALER FIRST DIAGNOSED AS BAD BATTERY AND REPROGRAMMING NEEDED. I EXPRESSED I HAD RESEARCHED AND FOUND ISSUES WITH EPAS AS CAUSE, WAS ASSURED BATTERY WOULD CORRECT ISSUE. ONCE HOME THE TRUCK THREW THE SAME CODES THE FOLLOWING MORNING AND HAD LOST OF POWER STEERING. I TOOK BACK TO DEALER THAT AFTERNOON. DEALER ADVISED THEY NEEDED TO INSTALL NEW ELECTRONIC STEERING GEAR PART # EL3Z BE REPLACED WITH PART # EL3Z 3504. TRUCK IS A 2014 FORD F150 WITH ABOUT 56K MILES ON IT. I HAVE FOUND THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS (EASY GOOGLE SEARCH) ABOUT FORDS EPAS GEAR IN THE F150 AND OTHER VEHICLES, CAUSING AN EXPENSIVE REPLACEMENT COST FOR THE ENTIRE STEERING GEAR. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON SIMILAR IF NOT SAME PART FOR EPAS ON F150 AND OTHERS. I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST YOUR CONSIDERATION INTO INVESTIGATING FORDS EPAS AND HOLDING THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR A RECALL AND FULL PAYMENT OF REPLACEMENT PARTS. TOTAL OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE WAS OVER $1700, AFTER THEIR INITIAL DIAGNOSIS, REPLACEMENT OF BATTERY, REPROGRAMMING, GEAR REPLACEMENT AND LABOR. THANK YOU
ADVANCE TRAC SERVICE WARNING LIGHT AT 42000 MILES ON A MUDDY ROAD. FOLLOWED MANUAL FOR RESET. IT CAME BACK ON IN 200 MILES ON DRY ROADS. VEHICAL HAS BEEN WASHED OF ALL MUD. NOW ALL THE BRAKE LIGHT WARNINGS ARE ON ON THE DASH. ABS, ADVANCE TRACK SERVICE WARNING LIGHT, CAR WITH SQUIGGLE LINES WON'T GO OFF. CALLED FOR SERVICE. READING THIS IS A VERY COMMON COMPLAINT!! RECALL????
THE WIPER CONTROL REMAINS ON EVEN WHEN IN THE OFF POSITION. IT WILL KEEP GOING ON THE SLOWEST INTERMITTENT SETTING. THIS DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU ARE STATIONARY OR MOVING. NUMEROUS REPORTS LISTED IN ONLINE FORUMS ALSO.
VEHICLE STALLED OUT ON OFF RAMP ENTERING INTERSTATE AND HAPPENED 4 MORE TIMES WHEN DRIVING OR ACCELERATING TO INTERSTATE SPEEDS. NECESSARY TO COAST TO SHOULDER OF INTERSTATE AND RESTART VEHICLE .... (PREVIOUSLY IN SHOP IN SHOP 09/12/17 FOR RING AND PINION)
POWER STEERING WENT OUT SUDDENLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS , LUCKILY I WAS GOING STRAIGHT. MILAGE 67,953
EXPLODING REAR GLASS - 45F EXTERNAL TEMP, TURNED ON THE REAR DEFROSTER, AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES I HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE SOMEONE HIT THE TRUCK WITH A BASEBALL BAT! I LOOK AROUND AND NOTICE THE DRIVERSIDE PORTION OF MY 3 SECTION POWER SLIDING REAR WINDSHIELD HAS SHATTERED. AFTER CALLING A REPAIR PLACE I LEARNED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE TRUCKS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL FROM WHAT I CAN TELL, SOUNDS LIKE THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM IS FAULTY REAR DEFROST ELEMENTS GETTING TOO HOT AND CAUSING THE GLASS TO SHATTER IN COLD WEATHER. TRUCK RAN FOR A FEW MINUTES IN THE DRIVEWAY BEFORE LEAVING FOR WORK. GLASS SHATTERED ABOUT A MILE INTO THE DRIVE WHILE GOING AROUND 40 MPH ON A CITY STREET (BARKER CYPRESS IN CYPRESS, TX TO BE EXACT).
DRIVING TO WORK, THE BRAKE FLUID WARNING MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED. WHEN I ARRIVED AT WORK THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY. THE DEALER STATED THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE BOOSTER WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE BRAKE FLUID HAD LEAKED INTO THE BOOSTER. I HAD NO BRAKING CAPABILITY, FORTUNATELY I HAD ALREADY ARRIVED AT WORK WHEN I LOST ALL BRAKING CAPABILITY. THERE IS A RECALL ON MASTER CYLINDERS AND BRAKE BOOSTERS ON 2013-2014 F150'S WITH V6 ENGINES BUT MINE IS A V8 SO IT'S NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I HAD TO PAY MY $100 DEDUCTIBLE AND USE MY EXTENDED WARRANTY TO HAVE MY VEHICLE REPAIRED. A TRUCK THAT'S NOT EVEN 3 YEARS OLD WITH 37K SHOULD NOT BE EXPERIENCE COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE.
INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH TRUCK NOT STARTING. TOOK TRUCK TO FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY WILL NEED TO INSTALLL A FUEL PUMP FUSE RELOCATION KIT. I ASKED THE REASON WHY AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS FUSE WILL CONTINUE TO SHORT OUT UNTIL THE KIT WAS INSTALLED. TRUCK IS THREE YEARS OLD AND FUSE LOCATION OR SOME PROBLEM EXISTS THAT WILL SHUT DOWN FUEL PUMP. NO RECALL AND NO WARRANTY? TRUCK WOULD NOT START FOR ME ABOUT 10 TO 15 DIFFERENT TIMES. I'M GLAD THE FUSE DID NOT SHORT OUT WHILE DRIVING. NO DAMAGE OTHER THEN MY TIME AND $330.00 FOR DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR "KIT" FROM FORD.
EMEERENCY BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE. EMERGENCY BRAKE WILL NOT RELEASE. EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN VEHICLE SHIFTED FROM PARK TO DRIVE. EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT ALARMS AND DISPLAYS RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROAD. EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM ALARM WILL NOT RELEASE AFTER MULTIPLE PULL ATTEMPTS.
TURBO WENT IN THE TRUCK WHICH THEN CAUSE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION DAMAGE. MECHANIC SAYS THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, AND TURBOS NEED TO BE REPLACED QUOTING OVER 10K. ALSO, A NEIGHBOR HAD A 2014 F150 DO THE SAME EXACT THING AROUND THE SAME MILEAGE AND I THOUGHT THAT WAS VERY ODD.
THE FAN/BLOWER FOR THE HEATER/AC WILL RANDOMLY SHUT OFF. THEN OTHER TIMES IF YOU TOUCH UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE DASH IT WILL TURN OFF AND ON.
DRIVING AT 55 MPH IN CRUISE CONTROL. TOUCHED BRAKE TO DISENGAGE CRUISE CONTROL AND PRESSED ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO PASS A SLOW VEHICLE WHEN PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND ENGINE RACED. I HAD TO PRESS BRAKES WITH ALL MY MIGHT TO SLOW VEHICLE TO 45 MPH AND IT KEPT CLIMBING AND PEDAL WOULD NOT COME UP AND ENGINE SPEED WOULD NOT SLOW. PRESSED OFF BUTTON FOR CRUISE CONTROL AND NOTHING CHANGED. FINALLY AFTER 5 MILES HEARD A POP AND THE PEDAL CAME UP AND ENGINE SPEED DROPPED TO IDLE. COULD NOT STOP EARLIER AS 2 LANE HWY. WITH NO SHOULDER. GUARD RAIL AND RIVER ON RIGHT AND MOUNTAIN CLIFFS ON LEFT SIDE. BROUGHT TO DEALER WHO COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG THEY STATED.
TRUCK IS A 2014 F150 5.0V8 WITH ~50K MILES. WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ~65MPH, BRAKE FLUID WARNING LIGHT COMES ON. I TEST THE BRAKES BY GENTLY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT PEDAL CONTINUES WITH NO RESISTANCE NEARLY TO THE FLOOR. BRAKES ARE ALMOST COMPLETELY INEFFECTIVE AND WOULD HAVE ZERO ABILITY TO STOP THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. I THROW ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND CUT TO THE SHOULDER AND HAVE TO MANUALLY DOWNSHIFT THE TRANSMISSION TO SLOW THE VEHICLE. SITUATION COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE SERIOUS AS I WAS IN MODERATE TRAFFIC. I POPPED THE HOOD AND IMMEDIATELY NOTICE THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR IS COMPLETELY EMPTY. AFTER INSPECTING ALL BRAKE LINES FRONT AND REAR AND CHECKING ALL BLEEDER SCREWS ARE CLOSED, NO VISUAL LEAKS ARE PRESENT. AS I WAS 100 MILES FROM HOME DRIVING MY WIFE AND CHILD HOME AT NIGHT, I HAD SOMEONE BRING ME SOME BRAKE FLUID TO TOP OFF THE RESERVOIR. AFTER FILLING THE RESERVOIR AND BLEEDING THE FRONT BRAKES, BRAKES SEEM TO STAY TIGHT. I DRIVE ~10 MILES AND THE BRAKE FLUID WARNING LIGHT FLASHES AGAIN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. PULL OVER AGAIN AND NOTICE ZERO FLUID AGAIN. VISUALLY INSPECT ALL LINES, MASTER CYLINDER, BOOSTER, ETC., NO EVIDENCE OF LEAKS. TOP OFF THE RESERVOIR TO LIMP THE VEHICLE TO A SAFER LOCATION. NOTICE THE ENGINE STARTING TO SPUTTER AND FLUID COMPLETELY GONE IN ANOTHER ~10 MILES. OBVIOUSLY THE MASTER CYLINDER HAS FAILED AND IS LEAKING INTO THE BOOSTER WHICH IS AFFECTING THE VACUUM IN THE BOOSTER. THESE ARE THE EXACT SAME SYMPTONS LISTED IN SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 16S24/ NHTSA RECALL 16V-345, HOWEVER THIS DOES NOT COVER 5.0 V8 MOTORS ONLY 3.5L ECOBOOST DESPITE THE SAME BRAKE COMPONENTS BEING USED. SO FAR OVER A QUARTER MILLION TRUCKS HAVE BEEN RECALLED. APPARENTLY NEWER 2015/16 F150S ARE EXPERIENCING SIMILIAR ISSUES AS WELL EVIDENCE OF A LARGE DEFECT IN NEWER MODEL F150 BRAKING COMPONENTS.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT UPON START UP. UNABLE TO DRIVE. SOMETIMES "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" WILL ILLUMINATE. TRUCK JUST SITS, UNABLE TO DRIVE. VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER.
MAIN WIRE HARNESS IS ROUTED OUTSIDE.OF THE FRAME RAILS. MUD IS PULLING THE WIRE HARNESS OFF OF THE VEHICLE.
VEHICLE MANUFACTURED ON 02/28/2014, FORD RECALL 14C10 STARTED THE NEXT DAY. NHTSA # 14V710000. TRUCKS PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR ERRORS ON DASH AND STATES TO REMOVE OBJECT FROM AROUND THE SEAT, THERE ARE NO OBJECTS. ALL RESEARCH INDICATES THE SEAT GAP IS NOT CORRECT AND CAUSES ERROR FROM IMPROPER ASSEMBLY. ERROR IS INTERMITTENT BUT PERSISTENT DISABLING THE PASS AIRBAG.
GRINDING/HOWLING NOISE FROM REAR END AT 63,200 MILES.. NEEDED TO HAVE RING AND PINION REPLACED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE POWER TRAIN FAULT WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE'S POWER SEIZED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER ONE ATTEMPT, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TUTTLE-CLICK'S CAPISTRANO FORD (33301 CAMINO CAPISTRANO SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA 92675) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CARBURETOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH REAR DEFROSTER ON AND HEARD A LOUD BANG. THE DEFROSTER SHATTERED THE LEFT REAR SECTION OF THE SLIDING REAR WINDOW. FORD HAS BEEN NOTIFIED AND UNWILLING TO HELP.
MY TRUCK EXPERIENCED COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE WHILE TOWING AN ENCLOSED AUTO TRAILER ON THE HIGHWAY -- LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE AND TRAILER TO AN EMERGENCY STOP AT A SERVICE STATION AND REFILL THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR (IT WAS ALMOST EMPTY). IT THEN HAPPENED AGAIN ONCE BACK ON THE HIGHWAY. I MADE IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP, ONLY BEING ABLE TO SLOW AND STOP THE VEHICLE USING THE BRAKES ON THE TRAILER. THE DEALER FOUND THAT ALL THE BRAKE FLUID HAD LEAKED INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER -- THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM FOR WHICH FORD ISSUED A RECALL ON SIMILAR MAKES/MODELS (MANF. RECALL NUMBER: 16S24). THEY WERE ABLE TO SOURCE A NEW BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND REPLACE IT UNDER WARRANTY. NOTE THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL FORD BRAKE RECALL, BUT I STRONGLY BELIEVE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. MY WIFE AND I WERE EXPOSED TO A POTENTIALLY LIFE-THREATENING SITUATION THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF FORD HAD WIDENED THE RECALL TO OTHER MODELS.
I HAVE REPLACED TWO (2) ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODIES (ETB'S) ON THIS VEHICLE IN LESS THAN 68,000 MILES. COSTS TO ME HAVE BEEN OVER $600 NOT INCLUDING TRAVEL AND INCONVENIENCE EXPENSES. (LAST REPLACEMENT WAS UNDER "EXTENDED WARRANTY" WHICH I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED HAD FORD ADVISED ME OF THE AGREEMENT WITH THE NHTSA.) ON 4MARCH2014 THE NHTSA REPORTEDLY REACHED AN AGREEMENT WITH FORD TO AVOID A RECALL BECAUSE THEY WOULD EXTEND THEIR WARRANTY FOR UP TO 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES FOR ETB PROBLEMS. I SURE HAVE NOT RECEIVED THIS! THE PROBLEM HAS ALWAYS OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, USUALLY ON A 65 MPH TWO LANE ROAD, AND RESULTED IN THE TRUCK ENTERING "LIMP MODE". THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER 15 TIMES OVER THE TWO ETB'S AND REQUIRED A TOW WITH THE LATEST EPISODE. WITH THE LATEST PROBLEM, IT TOOK 3 VISITS TO FORD DEALERS, OVER 490 MILES, WITH THE TRUCK ONLY; PLUS A TOW ($416) AND OVER 392 MILES ON MY WIFE'S CAR (SHE FOLLOWED ME DURING THE LAST TWO VISITS). I CORRECTLY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM WITH EACH THE LAST FORD DEALER VISITS (3 IN TOTAL) AS AN ETB FAILURE, AND NEITHER DEALER WOULD BELIEVE ME UNTIL THEY SAW THE PROBLEM ON THE COMPUTER. THE "LIMP MODE" IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ON A BUSY HIGHWAY! WE LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS OF COLORADO AND MUST CROSS A PASS (ABOUT 10,000 FEET) TO GET TO A FORD DEALER. TO ATTEMPT TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT WILL ONLY GO ABOUT A MILE OR SO, BEFORE AGAIN ENTERING "LIMP MODE" IS VERY DANGEROUS AND FOOLISH. I DID FILE A COMPLAINT WITH FORD, WITH BOTH ETB'S, THE LATEST CASE IS SUPPOSED TO BE STILL PENDING (FORD CASE #: CAS 12832076). I HAVE CALLED THE FORD REGIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE MANGER 3 (THREE) TIMES OVER THE LAST TWO (2) DAYS, AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RETURNED CALLED ON THE CAS 12832076. IS THIS WHAT THE NHTSA AGREED TO? THE NEXT INFORMATION PROVIDED ONLY PERTAINS TO THE LAST INSTANCE OF THIS RECURRING PROBLEM.
STARTED VEHICLE IN MY PARKING SPOT AT WORK, ONLY TO SEE THE BRAKE FLUID LOW INDICATED ON THE DISPLAY SCREEN. SELECTED OK, DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL WHICH TRAVELLED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. OPENED HOOD AND CHECKED MASTER CYLINDER FLUID RESERVOIR AND FOUND IT ALMOST EMPTY. CONTACTED JOE COOPER FORD, YUKON AND TALKED WITH SERVICE MANAGER. HE INDICATED THERE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE MASTER CYLINDER LEAKING FLUID PAST THE SEAL. HE SUGGESTED THE VEHICLE BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR ANALYSIS AS FORD HAS A RECALL ON THIS VERY ISSUE. TECH PULLED MASTER CYLINDER AND FOUND BRAKE BOOSTER FILLED WITH BRAKE FLUID. SERVICE ADVISOR SUGGESTED MASTER CYLINDER REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF APPROX. $750.00. WHEN QUESTIONED ABOUT WARRANTY, I WAS ADVISED MY MODEL DOES NOT MEET THE CRITERIA AS CURRENTLY POSTED BY FORD AS MY VEHICLE IS A 5.0L NOT A 3.8L V-6. WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE CONDITION OF THE BRAKE BOOSTER DUE TO CHEMICAL CONTAMINATION, THE ADVISOR WAS UNSURE WHAT TO DO. HE SUGGESTED I COMMUNICATE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT BOTH THE REPAIR METHOD AND COSTS. AFTER REVIEWING THE RECALL I FOUND FORD RECOMMENDS; IF THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAD ANY FLUID BOTH THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER SHOULD BE REPLACED. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO DISCUSS THE OPTIONS AND COMPLETE THE REPAIR. I AM REQUESTING THE PARTS BE RETURNED TO FORD FOR WARRANTY EVALUATION/CONSIDERATION. I CANNOT LOGICALLY UNDERSTAND WHY THE ENGINE TYPE MAKES A DIFFERENCE ON THE BRAKING SYSTEM. I AM AWAITING A REPORT FROM FORD ON THIS MATTER.
DRIVING ON THE ROAD AND MY TRUCK SAID IT WAS LOW IN FLUID. THOUGHT THAT I COULD GET TO MY DESTINATION SO THAT I CAN BUY MORE BRAKE FLUID SO THAT MY TRUCK WOULD BE OK. DURING GETTING TO MY DESTINATION MY BRAKES STOPPED WORKING I HAD NO OPTION BUT TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKES. TOWED IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY ARE CHARGING ME 850 IN PARTS AND LABOR. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK BRAND NEW AND ONLY HAS 36000 MILES. WHAT WOULD HAPPENED IF I WAS ON A HIGHWAY GOING FASTER. I'VE COULD CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT FOR SOMETHING THAT I DIDN'T DO. MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE ECO BOOST AND BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER THAT WENT BAD. I'VE REVERED OWNED A VEHICLE THAT'S EVER HAD THIS PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE NEARBY DEALER (BARNES ENTERPRISES LOCATED AT 272 W MAIN ST, EAST BROOKFIELD, MA 01515; (508) 867-7413) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-392-3673 AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO GET THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH AND TURNING A CORNER, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME INOPERABLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THIS OCCURRED ON TWO MORE OCCASIONS BEFORE THE DEALER COULD SEE THE VEHICLE. SUBSEQUENTLY LEARNED THAT WHAT THE PU DID WAS ENTER THE "LIMP HOME" MODE. THE SERVICE WRENCH SHOWED UP ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE TRUCK HAD A VERY ROUGH IDEAL AS I CREEPED OFF THE HIGHWAY. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE DEALER THAT HAD JUST REPAIRED THE TIMING CHAIN AND CAM SHAFT PHASERS THE WEEK PRIOR. DEALER RAN SEVERAL TESTS AND FOUND NO CODES. THEY DECIDED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASSEMBLY AFTER CHECKING OASIS AND FOUND MULTIPLE HOTLINE CONTACTS WITH SIMILAR CONCERNS. WHEN PULLING TRUCK INTO SERVICE BAY THE THROTTLE BODY STUCK PARTIALLY CLOSED. I WAS VERY LUCKY TO NOT GET HIT BY ANOTHER CAR WHEN THIS HAPPENED TO ME. MY SON AND I PURCHASED A FORD F150 AT THE SAME TIME, AND HE NOW HAS 60K MILES, AND HIS AUTO THROTTLE BODY WENT OUT IN TRAFFIC, AND WAS CLOSE TO CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. OVER THE COURSE OF TWO DAYS THE BRAKE PEDAL STARTED GETTING SPONGY AND RAPIDLY PROGRESSED TO "GOING TO THE FLOOR". AT THIS POINT NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN DONE, THERE ARE NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF LEAKAGE AND THE RESERVOIR LEVEL LOOKS OK.
THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS ON THE DOORS STOPPED WORKING ON THE VEHICLE. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER AND WERE TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS ELECTRICAL AND COULD EVENTUALLY IMPACT ALL ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS IN THE VEHICLE. THEY SAID THERE WAS A SHORT ON ONE OF THE DOORS - THEY REPLACED THE BCM AND DRIVER REAR DOOR LATCH WHICH COST $900. AS THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EVEN 2 YEARS OLD, WE COULD NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED AND IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER A WARRANTY. RECENTLY, WE READ OF A RECALL ON 2015-2017 FORD F-150 TRUCKS RELATED TO POTENTIAL DOOR PROBLEMS ('FROZEN DOOR LATCH OR BENT OR KINKED ACTUATION CABLE') AND WERE WONDERING IF THIS WAS THE SAME PROBLEM WE EXPERIENCED WITH OUR 2014 MODEL.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH STEERING BECAME STIFF AND AFTER TAKING A TURN WOULD NOT RETURN TO CENTER POSITION. VEHICLE HAS 37,000 MILES. IM SEEING THAT THIS IS A COMMON RECALL ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST STEERING GEARS BUT MY VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. THIS PICKUP TRUCK, OWNED AND OPERATED BY A PUBLIC UTILITY, WAS INVOLVED IN A LOW SPEED FRONT END COLLISION ON A CITY STREET. THE INCIDENT INVOLVED THE FRONT BUMPER OF THE F-150 MAKING ABRUPT CONTACT WITH THE REAR BUMPER AND TAILGATE OF A NISSAN FRONTIER PICKUP. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE DRIVER OF EITHER VEHICLE AND NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED INITIALLY. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE COLLISION, THE TRUCK WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE IGNITION WAS SWITCHED OFF, AND THE 4-WAY FLASHERS WERE TURNED ON. THE KEYS WERE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION AND THE DRIVER EXITED THE VEHICLE TO EXCHANGE INFORMATION WITH THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE. WHILE THE DRIVERS WERE EXCHANGING INFORMATION, APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES AFTER THE COLLISION, THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. WITHIN A MINUTE OR TWO AFTER THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED, THE INTERIOR OF THE TRUCK ERUPTED IN FLAMES, WHICH WERE REPORTED TO HAVE STARTED IN THE AREA BEHIND THE FRONT SEAT CONSOLE. THE INSIDE OF THE CAB WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES, AND THE FIRE SPREAD TO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND BED. THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED QUICKLY, BUT THE TRUCK SUFFERED SEVERE FIRE DAMAGE.

TRUCK THEN GEARS ITSELF DOWN AND DOES NOT EXCEED 45 MPH. THIS CONSISTENTLY NOW OCCURS WHEN ENGINE TEMPERATURE HITS 215. WHEN TOWING I CAN NOT EXCEED 55 MPH OR TEMPERATURE IMMEDIATELY CLIMBS TO 215 AND TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS. I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND LET ENGINE COOL. PARKED AT A STORE, WHEN WE WENT TO LEAVE, THE BRAKES FELT SOFT, TRIED TO STOP IN THE PARKING LOT AND HAD NO BRAKES AT ALL.
