Dec. 29, 2022: I was advised that the lug nuts are warped and the tires could not be rotated without replacing the lug nuts. Was advised if I did not replace them, I may not be able to remove them if I had a flat tire or worse, they might not get tightened properly causing a wheel to come off while driving. Vehicle is still at Ford Dealership service dept.
Oil pan is leaking and was told that it was a common problem happening. I believe this is unsafe that can leave my family on the side of the road. Yes the problem was confirmed by the dealership service department and was told it has been a problem. There was no warning lamps before this problem. I know that the repair will be $1,100 which I will pay for that on Friday when I pick up the truck.
I started my truck at 7:45 AM; temperature was 25 degrees and the windows were covered in frost. I turned the heater on, got out to load my truck; as I opened the door I heard a loud pop and a slight electrical odor. On examining the cause, I realized that the rear cab window had shattered with no provocation. Glass shards everywhere in the cab and in the truck bed. My dogs in the backseat, or I in the front could have been impaled with any one of these shards.
The driver’s side door will not latch once it is opened when the ambient temperature is below 25 Fahrenheit. The door has come open while driving, requiring the driver to hold it shut while finding a safe pull off. It has come unlatched and swung open around corners, even though it was locked.
Driver and passenger front door’s locking mechanism would not latch in freezing temperatures. Doors would not latch and caused a safety issue. This has not been reviewed by dealership.
Doing cold weather, the driver side door locks has frozen on several occasions causing the latch to become inoperable to latch. As a result, I am unable to lock the door after closing it and the door swings open before moving the vehicle. I have not been able to schedule an appointment at this time. The vehicle was purchased used from Carmax in Brandywine, Md., on March 22, 2022. I was informed that the vehicle had passed a full inspection prior to the sale. There were no warning lights or recall notices issued regarding the vehicle.
Driving 20mph loud noise looked back window shattered stopped looked for cause ,wasn’t anything could see ,googled found out happens a lot these trucks
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon exiting the vehicle and attempting to lock the doors using the door lock buttons on the driver’s side panel, the doors failed to lock. The contact stated that the failure was occasional. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.
When it is cold below 20 degrees, the drivers door won’t latch when closed until the truck warms up inside a heated building or you have the heat on high inside for 20-25 minutes. Having to hold the door closed while driving until it gets warm enough in the car to latch. It has happened the last 5 times I have driven it. It is cold here now. I have talked to other people and mechanics and they have said it happens and possibly going back to all ford cars and trucks back to 2012. I have a ratchet strap I have to use on both front doors to hold them both shut until it gets warm enough for the latch to release. It is not the c latch that hooks onto the post. It is a latch inside that releases the latch. I have not brought it in as there is no recall on this yet and I can’t afford to have them look at it. It can be available anytime to be looked at if needed. There is no prior notice of this happening and then the door ajar light comes on.
I have taken my 2017 F150 to Sunrise over a period of 3 years to ‘fix’ the downshifting issue on the engine. I was constantly told I was imagining things. Then the dealer kept my truck for 3 months while is was supposedly fixed according to a recall sent out in 2022. The problem was not corrected. Then in 2025 another recall was issued for the braking system and the emergency brake light coming on. Again, back to the dealer for recall repair. And again it was NOT repaired as the light still comes again every time we are driving on the highway. Our truck has very low mileage for 2017. Please advise if you can assist us. The contact's friend owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while her friend was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle started decelerating, rattling, and then stalled. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the cam phaser needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact’s friend was informed that the vehicle was out of warranty due to the mileage. The failure mileage was approximately 201,202.
Good morning, my Bluetooth/Radio/Sirius/Navigation Screen has been cutting out after I make a hands free call. The GPS shows not working and the radio will not work and the phone will not work. I check online for the issue and numerous people on a variety of cars have said their APIM Modules were shown to be faulty. This is an expensive part to replace, and I have tried the "quick fix" of disconnecting the negative battery terminal for 15 minutes then reconnecting and it works fine for awhile then begins intermittently cutting off again. It is a safety issue if I should need to make an emergency call and the GPS not working could be a safety issue as well. Is this something that NHTSA is looking at? Are there any "unofficial" recalls on these APIM Modules? Please let me know. Thank you!
My front right brake line busted on my 2017 F150 STX. This 5 year old truck has under 70 thousand miles on it and it matches up with the Master Brake Caliber Recall 22S11 or 22S14. I think my vehicle should be included in the recall. Brake lines don't just bust and I could have seriously injured someone or myself because of this faulty part.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after entering the vehicle, the front driver’s and front passenger’s side doors failed to remain closed. The contact stated that the failure had occurred during very cold temperatures and the locking mechanism was frozen. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed and determined that the door locks needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that he received a notice for Ford Campaign Number: 21B10 (Cam Phaser Rattle) and the vehicle was taken to the local dealer; however, the local dealer informed him that the software update did not need to be completed on the vehicle because the vehicle had not experienced the failure. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle, the engine would make abnormal rattling sounds. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the cam phaser needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that he would need to pay a repair fee as he had failed to complete the software update under Ford Campaign Number: 21B10. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 63,200.
FRONT WHEEL BEARING DRIVER SIDE STARTED FAILING (BUT I DID NOT KNOW IT) SHORTLY AFTER 5OK MILES. HAD IT REPLACED WHEN NOISE BECAME VERY PRONOUNCED AT 56K MILES. DEALER HAS NOT CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER DEALER’S PARTS MAN RECOGNIZED THE PART NUMBER BY SITE, AND HINTED THAT THE PROBLEM IS NOT UNCOMMON, ALTHOUGH USUALLY AT HIGHER MILEAGE. DEALER WAS (AND STILL IS) UNABLE TO OBTAIN THE REPLACEMENT PART. REPAIR WAS PERFORMED BY A 3RD PARTY GARAGE USING AFTERMARKET PART. WARNINGS: THE TPMS MONITOR STARTED ALERTING THAT IT WAS NOT RECIEVING THE TIRE PRESSURE FROM THE AFFECTED WHEEL, WHEN DRIVING LONG DISTANCES ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS HAS NOT OCCURRED SINCE THE BEARING WAS REPLACED.
I was sitting in the drive thru with my kids when my daughter said there was smoke from behind her. Shortly after that the back window shattered into many peices onto them inside the car. It’s ridiculous that there has been many complaints of the same issue yet no recall issued.
I had a problem that would cause my transmission to randomly downshift or slip into neutral while in drive. When this happened it would also disengage cruise controll and would disengage the blind spot monitoring system.Took it to the dealership and they confirmed it was a faulty molded lead frame. I had them replace the part. But was doing research and saw where they have had similar recalls on previous years.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while the dealer was inspecting the vehicle, an unknown dealer informed the contact that the lug nuts were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to a certified independent mechanic, who replaced the lug nuts with after-market lug nuts. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to the unknown dealer for a tire rotation, the dealer informed the contact that the lug nuts had become faulty again. The contact stated that the lug nuts had been replaced three times. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000.
My steering seemed to be jerking. I had "the works" done at the dealership. They did not note any issue during inspection. I was driving my granddaughter and her friend to the mall. While going around a turn my wheel locked up. I was able to jerk it hard to the opposite side to avoid the oncoming vehicles. I was able to pull off the road and called for a tow. I have several friends who own the same type of vehicle, Ford f150, say they have had similar issues. Mine is a 2017 ecoboost supercab.
I have a issue my Ford F150 under warranty after driving and come to a traffic light or a stop stalls (shuts off)sometimes. And I took it to a Ford dealership for repairs no check engine and they did find anything and stalls come when oil change is needed to be changed. And I am confused what to do I drive my kids in this car this is not safe .
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the rear tailgate locking mechanism had malfunctioned causing the tailgate lever to become stuck and causing the tailgate door to erroneously open and fail to remain closed. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the Extended Warranty coverage for the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.
The lead frame in the transmission is going bad and I have seen this happen on the internet with this type truck. You will be running 60 and it will drop into 1 or 2 gear throwing you into the steering wheel. It is for sure a safety issue.
Transfer case bolts (dissimilar metals) are causing galvanic corrosion to aluminum transfer case. Transfer case is actually corroding away and will cause component failure and or/leaks of internal fluid when corrosion causes a hole in the case. Transmission bolts may be experiencing the same issue as well.
The doors on my truck have been freezing and wont let me latch the door shut. this was apparently resolved early this year using 18N03. however in Wisconsin it hasnt happened now till winter. first day below freezing, i could not close them. i have 2 young kids and this is a huge safety concern. as an adult its not a big deal. i am terrified to drive my truck due to putting my kids at risk with a door whipping open and or not being able to get them out in an emergency because they are LOCKED shut. the dealer apparently put the fix to it but the first day below freezing, my kid has to sit his seat wondering if his door will fly open. no one else has inspected it except for my local dealer which the "repair" happened. there was no other signs of failure till after i hit my first cold day in fall of 2021 were i thought it was a fluke till i noticed its a truck wide issue from 2015-2017.
The transmission downshifts when you are cruising along at higher speeds and then won't shift back up. It is jerky when it shifts. It turns over for an extended period when starting. A part has been ordered by the dealership since Sep 2022.
Lucky, I was at a stop light when my wrench symbol came on. My gear lights when blank and I lost all power. Turned off and on and was able to limp into a parking lot. Where I shut it off and it wouldn't turn back on. Towed to Ford where I found out that it's the transmission casing. They have had my vehicle in the shop now for almost 2 months. They keep losing the part. I was 6,000 miles out for the 60 000 miles warranty, so it's all on me. They have almost 7000 of the same part on back order, so who know when I'll get my truck back.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at 50 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove to his residence. However, the failure reoccurred while driving. The contact was unable to veer to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after 5 attempts. The contact drove to his residence and parked the vehicle. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.
While driving through Portland Oregon in heavy traffic on a multi-lane highway at 65 mph the transmission suddenly shifted down violently shaking the entire vehicle. This happened at least three times within a mile or two before I could get into the outside lane. By then it seemed fine. Luckily no one rearended me and I did not hit another vehicle. No engine light came on at any time. It spent a month at the dealership, but they couldn't locate the problem because there was no code. I had shoulder replacement surgery and could not drive for eight weeks after the truck was available. Two days after I was able to drive, the warning light came on, but would go out if you turned the engine off. This happened intermittently over several weeks until I was able to get it home with the light on and use my code reader. The code was P0741 for a transmission clutch problem. Returning to the dealership, they diagnosed it as a bad torque converter and valve body. No converter is available at this time and no idea about when in the future it will be available. I'm concerned that when they replace the part it will still be the same as the defective one and not a reengineered one. I was lucky enough to avoid an accident and I've found many instances where other consumers have had similar issues with this transmission. Some consumers have even filed lawsuits. I might not be as lucky the next time if the problem is not solved.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that on two separate occasions, oil was discovered leaking in the driveway. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the same failure had also occurred prior to him owning the vehicle. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer twice for the same failure; however, the failure returned after each repair. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The contact was then transferred to the NHTSA Hotline. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
The intake manifold control runner is broken. I have had it at the service center and Ford states a new manifold has been designed but they are on national back order. The vehicle does not respond trying to accelerate. I was almost in a wreck due to not being able to accelerate. The check engine light came on in early October and the code points to this failure. It is not only dangerous but I cannot get it inspected for emissions and thus cannot get a tag. This part has been on order since October 3, 2022. Ford cannot provide a replacement date.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle, the engine would emit an abnormal rattling sound that would intensify when the vehicle remained idle for an extended period. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact associated the failure with Ford Campaign Numbers: 21N03 and 21B10. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, there was a rattling sound coming from under the hood of the vehicle. The failure was also present while driving at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the vehicle and determined that the cam phasers were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 189,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle a popping noise was present coming from the front of the vehicle. While reversing into the driveway, the front passenger’s side wheel suddenly detached and folded inside the wheel well. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that the front control arms had fractured and detached from the frame of the vehicle. The vehicle was not yet examined. The manufacture and local dealer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 158,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, there was a rattling sound coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with cam phaser failure. The contact was informed that the cam phasers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed of the Technical Service Bulletin: 23-2143; however, the contact was informed that the bulletin had expired. The contact stated that the vehicle had been taken to the dealer for the persistent failure since September 2022. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under any special programs or recalls. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,200.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while closing the sunroof he heard an abnormal noise and the sunroof started open and close. The contact was able to close the sunroof. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the frame holding the sunroof was fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 50,000. The VIN was not available.
Rear camera not working. First it was just the striped screen and now just a black screen and hard to see images. See attachment provided
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and driving at slow speeds, the vehicle was rattling without warning. The contact had initially taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who informed him that the cam phaser needed to be replaced. Both the dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, and both stated that the vehicle was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.
Transmission abruptly shifted down to 1st gear while driving thru a busy intersection. P/R/N/D and gear indicators all starting flashing different positions. Truck came to a fast stop and nearly caused a wreck. My neck still hurts. Gear wrench displayed on dash and check engine light. Took almost two minutes for truck to restart, in the middle of intersection. VERY Dangerous... It generated codes P0706 and p0707. I tried to order the replacement Transmission Lead Frame assembly from Ford and parts man laughed at me and said join the list. They have over 15 trucks in the shop right now waiting for that same part. Sounds like this should be a HUGE recall before a death occurs on the road.
Since purchasing this vehicle from a dealership, I have had repeated problems with getting a blue screen on the rearview camera when truck is in reverse. This results in no visibility for backing up other than mirrors. A soft reset would often resolve the issue. However, now it is nothing but a blue screen. Why is the recent recall not including the F150 trucks?
Transmission gears sporadically shift into other gears while driving causing the causing the engine and vehicle to jerk unexpectedly decelerate and accelerate without warning causing a wrench slike symbol to illuminate in the dashboard.
The oil pan on this model vehicle with a 2.7 L engine does not hold oil. Ford knows that this is an issue and created a new product with an integrated gasket to put on the vehicle. The part will not be available for an entire year. I was told that there are approximately 3300 people on the waiting list for the new part. I have replaced my oil pan four times, including aftermarket parts that are based off of Fords design, and nothing works. My five year old truck is completely undrivable because the oil keeps leaking. Ford refuses to do anything about it in the meantime. I was forced to buy a second vehicle, because this one is not drivable. The oil pan is leaking on all F150s of this model. Ford won’t buy the vehicle back from me either. So my truck will not run due to Fords faulty part design.
Cam phaser rattle has progressed into loss of power in vehicle and unreliable performance. My engine will shutter and when gas pushed it feels like it is in limp mode. This started occurring after the phaser volume progressed and in my opinion after independent research the cam phaser lockout pen is slipping. Ford will not honor their own TSB to remedy although I am affected and within mileage range.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of an undisclosed recall. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle on several occasions, the engine made an abnormal rattling sound. The vehicle was taken a dealer, where it was diagnosed that all four Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) units needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred two years later. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that all four VCT units needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 69,508.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, he heard an abnormally loud sound coming from the engine compartment. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the cam phaser had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 52,000.
Over the last 6 months the vehicle randomly downshifts to first or second gear while driving. This causes unexpected jerking, as if the brakes were suddenly pressed. At typical road speeds this has caused dangerous situations where the vehicle slows suddenly and/or swerves, putting myself and my passengers, as well as other vehicles in my vicinity in danger. This happens frequently, nearly daily. Sometimes the wrench light will come on on the dashboard, indicating to contact service. The local Ford dealership diagnosed the problem as a faulty Leadframe in the transmission, which I understand was recalled by Ford for the 2013 models. The issues I'm experiencing are exactly the same as what was reported for the 2013 models. I have been waiting on a replacement part from Ford for 2 months. My dealership said there were 5 local trucks recently with this same issue. My truck has 81,000 miles and is out of warranty, but I believe this issue is dangerous and should be covered as a warranty repair or recall.
Unknown start date. Rear sliding window top rail easily pops off rear window. Symptoms could be clattering behind the rear seats, or water leaking into rear window. Other symptoms are loud road noise from the back seat. Rear window can be unseated from the bottom rail and can be dangerous if this happens while passengers are in the back seat or while driving. My passengers were at danger due to the rear window bouncing. Issue is available for inspection. Dealer has not confirmed reproduction of issue. There were no warnings, suddenly I heard loud road noise and clattering when I hit bumps. Ford will not fix this without replacing entire real sliding window.
Yesterday evening, 8/13/2022, I had my family in the F150 TRUCK. We were traveling at 77 mph (in a 70 mph zone) on toll route 576 enroute to Pittsburgh Airport. The F150 TRUCK was on cruise control (this time) when it downshifted from 10th gear to 1st gear. My neck is very sore, now. It continued to mis-shift although no service light illuminated this time. The milage during this incident was 53,809.3 (give or take a mile or two, I don't take pictures when at the wheel of F150 TRUCK) All my family was traumatized again. The truck made it to the airport. Where we picked up our foreign exchange student from Japan named Jua. The ride home, I white knuckled the steering wheel, not knowing when we would go out of control. The truck made it home without causing death to our family or innocent civilians. This is the second time this has occurred. Ford attempted to fix with valve body replacement.
Engine has began making lots of noises such as ticking and banging. Loss of power when driving the vehicle, extremely high fuel consumption resulting in maybe 10mpg with an 2.7 eco boost engine. Every start up of the vehicle results in large clouds of blue smoke emitting from the exhaust. I believe my engine is having the same failure as the new recall and my vehicle shall be included even though it’s a 2017. Why is mine not included when all the signs are pointing to the exact same issue. For the exact same engine
While driving 80 mph using cruise control on flat straight freeway, vehicle randomly would downshift from 10th gear into much lower gears, causing rapid deceleration. This happened multiple times, after transmission issues were reported to dealer and dealer "could not find any issues." Dealer eventually said new transmission was needed, replaced it, and then 30k miles later similar transmission issues are happening.
