The issue starts with a check engine light that gives an error for the bank 2 being stuck closed. This issue is with the intake manifold that is equipped and what happened is that the pin that is in the bank 2 is weak from the stamp that the manufacturer puts on it which eventually causes it break. Once it breaks it causes major safety issues while driving down the road, it sends codes that the motor is overheating although it wasn’t. So when that happens it causes the whole truck to shut off unexpectedly. When looking to get this repaired, you have to replace entire manifold on the truck; and there are not parts available to purchase for this issue. This is a common occurance for that model and engine and at this time my truck has been in drivable and unrepairable for 4 months.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle experienced engine failure. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed with cam phaser failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 71,300.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 80 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal was soft. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed: however, the results were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 74,862.
Bought vehicle used 9 months ago and had no problems, warning lights or malfunctions prior to incident 3/9/2022. Driving 50 mph in 5pm rush hour when automatic transmission of 2017 F-150 suddenly decelerated. It downshifted hard on its own and slowed to 25 mph on a busy one-lane interstate entrance ramp. It then lurched forward violently and accelerated back to 45mph. Fortunately, the driver behind me was alert and did not slam into me. The gear selector indicator became non-illuminated, transmission gear display disappeared, plus orange wrench check engine sign appeared on dash display. Those displays then intermittently come on/off every few miles. Vehicle managed to maintain modest highway speed however engine was very loud, revving high rpms at slower speed on side streets. Limped home and shut vehicle off. Tried to restart hoping computer would reset but nothing engaged. There was charge/lights but no crank or start; truck didn't even attempt turnover. Vehicle towed to Bob Allen Ford in Overland Park, KS. Was told 'range sensor' in transmission failed which informs vehicle when and which gear to be in. That part sits inside of a 'lead frame' however, unless repair was for covered warranty period Ford was not making it available to dealers. Was told this is known issue with F-150s and earlier models (2011-2013) had been recalled. Service Advisor had to secure another more expensive component called 'body valve’ that contained both aforementioned parts and cost about 3x the actual failed component. Five days and $1800 later F-150 was repaired. This problem persists and goes uncorrected by Ford despite reports and recalls of prior year models. Sudden and sporadic braking/acceleration by THE VEHICLE is dangerous and could lead to serious injury or fatality to occupants and others. Knowing this is an issue (i.e. previous recalls) and refusal by Ford to provide parts for repair is unconscionable and places undue financial strain and risk to people.
On my 2017 Ford F150 I have had repeated issues of delays when changing gears. In the past the dealership has replicated it and has uploaded several updates and even reset it which helped for a while but it always comes back. Going from 3rd to 4th gear is the current problem and when pulling out on a highway going 0 to 55 you cannot have your vehicle stall like this. The risk of being rear ended or worse is great. The dealership acts like they have no idea why this happens and cannot replicate the issue. It does not happen everytime and seems random so I have no idea how to get it to replicate. Very frustrating and unsafe. The vehicle does not show any warnings and the dealership says the diagnostics do not show an issue.
I HAD TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE (SWOLLEN) LUG NUTS ON MY 2017 FORD F-150 PICKUP. THIS ISSUE WAS IDENTIFIED BY THE LOCAL FORD DEALER. COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ISSUE HAD THEY NOT BEEN REPLACED.
Cam Phasers are failing and causing engine oil pressure to fail as well as timing to jump. This is a major concern and can cause a serious accident if a engine seizes. Ford did not issue a recall but if you bring it in then they tell you. was never notified of issue and now that i am over 90,000 miles it is no longer warrantied. they do a reprogram but it makes the issue worse.
There has been a recall on the Transmission's Lead Frame for certain years of the F150 with the 6r80 transmission. I have that same exact transmission in my 2017, and I am now having the same exact problem everyone else is having with that Lead Frame. But according to Ford due to the year of my truck I am not a part of that recall. So now I have a truck I am paying for that is not working and the part that I need to get it fixed is on back order due to the recall. So how is it that I am having the same symptoms and the same recalled part needs to be replaced but my truck is not covered by the recall. That does not make logical sense at all!
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at 45 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000. Consumer would like to cancel the complaint in having a second opinion, fuel tank collapsing was inaccurate.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH and slowing for traffic at an intersection, his brakes failed as he depressed the brake pedal. The contact stated that his vehicle crashed into the rear of the vehicle in front of him. The contact stated that his air bags deployed. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the front end of his hood and grill were crushed, and that the radiator had been ruptured. The contact stated that the other vehicle had suffered damage to trunk and rear bumper. The contact stated that there were no injuries to him or the other driver. The contact said that the police were on scene and wrote a report. The contact stated that his vehicle had been towed to his residence, he was not sure if the other vehicle had been towed. The contact's vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V150000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The failure mileage was unknown.
Drivers side door does not latch after rain and a freeze. This has happened 3 times. Today was the first time the passenger side door flew open while driving. It seems to be fixed when the car heats up. There was a recall on other versions of the F-150 for this exact issue but apparently not on this one. It seems to have the same issue.
At 56,000 miles Anti freeze started to disappear from reservoir. After refilling it, noticed 2 weeks later an empty coolant reservoir again. Truck gave a "misfire" and "turbo charger " code. 8 weeks later truck had cylinder heads replaced.
Plastic oil pan has leaking drain plug even after installing new drain plug. This is a danger to the environment and roadways due to leaving oil drips throughout the roadways traveled.
Rear window shattered with defrost on.
I previously had my door modified per Manufacturer Communication Number: 21M04. This past winter (Feb 2022) my family and I were vacationing in Vermont when it rained and then flash froze. Understandably the water had frozen on the door seals, making the doors difficult to open. However, the drivers side door would not latch shut for hours until the truck warmed sufficiently from the sun exposure and heater run on high. Unacceptable safety hazard rendering my truck un-drivable. (The other 3 doors worked fine.)
2017 FORD F-150. CONSUMER STATED THAT TIRE ROTATION WAS NOT PERFORMED PROPERLY. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO ROTATE THE TIRES DUE TO THE AGE OF THE TIRES AND DAMAGE IT MAY CAUSE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND THE TIRES SHOULD HAVE BEEN ROTATED. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED THE PORTION OF THE POLICY BE CHANGED THAT PREVENTS THE TIRES FROM BEING ROTATED IF THEY ARE OUTDATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED.
While driving my vehicle I began to notice a clicking noise in relation to my tires/speed. No sensors came on, all gauge readings were normal. I pulled over and viewed the tires to check for a flat, all seemed fine and pressure was reading normal. When I resumed driving, I came back into my lane turning slightly left and noticed that the steering wheel began to vibrate. I slowed the vehicle again and put on my hazard lights while attempting to reach a freeway exit. The vehicle began shaking as though I had a flat but again I did not. I decided to turn off an exit and when I attempted to make a left turn into a parking lot, my front passenger wheel flew completely off. My two four year olds and I were then left without control of the truck, finally grinding to a stop blocking two directions of traffic on a Highway unable to get out of harms way. It was night, cars were coming in either direction. I had to emergently remove my children from their car seats and get away from the vehicle to safety. The lug nuts/bolts were completely sheered off. The wheel flew into a field several yards away from the vehicle. If I would not have exited the freeway, I shutter to imagine what would have happened to us as other large trucks would not have been able to stop at the rate that we were forced too. Please. This vehicle/part needs an official recall!
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 - 45 MPH with the transmission in 4th gear, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted to 1st gear. The contact stopped the vehicle and waited for several minutes before continuing driving. There were no warning lights illuminated. The failure had occurred twice. The contact performed a Keep Alive Memory (KAM) reset after each failure. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that there were no recalls associated with the VIN. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
The truck will stall while sitting at a stop sign, red light, waiting to turn. You can feel the truck idle and watch the tac bounch up and down before it stalls. Wants to stall when the gas is applied while pulling across an interseciton or from the stopped position. Intake manifold has been replaced twice in a 2 month period. The intake manifold caued the check engine light to come on, but did not correct the stalling issue.
1. Torque converter failed per Ford Service Technician. 2. My safety is more mental of not knowing if this will lead to a complete mobility failure while traveling and be stranded. 3. The problem has been reproduced by a certified Ford Service Technician at Crossroads Ford of Sanford NC on 07/06/2022 4. The truck was inspected and diagnosed by by a certified Ford Service Technician at Crossroads Ford of Sanford NC on 07/06/2022 5. There was no warning lights of the issue. The issue began approximately in February 2022. There's a jerking motion sometimes at takeoff from a dead stop as well as a slow roll and excelleration. There's a rumbling /shudder when excellerating even at 55 mph .
DRIVERS DOOR FREEZES UP. WHEN YOU DO GET IT OPEN, IT WON'T LATCH SHUT
While attempting to accelerate from stop, vehicle would not accelerate. Vehicle was stuck in 7th gear and did not have enough power to accelerate through intersection. Cyclic vibration while maintaining constant speed. No vibration when coasting. Erratic shifting that causes jerking motions during gear change.
Transmission slipped out of gear on numerous occasions during a clattering sound. Good thing it has not happened yet when pulling out into traffic. It happens most often between 2nd and 3rd gear when starting out.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contacts stated that his wife was driving approximately 55mph when the vehicle in front came to an abrupt stop and the contact crashed into the other vehicle, which resulted in the air bags not deploying. The contacts sought medical treatment and sustained abdominal, wrists chest injuries, while the wife sustained chest, side, back, and stomach injuries. The contact's son was sitting in the rear passenger side seat and also received chest and stomach injuries. A police report was taken, and the vehicle was towed by the city and remained in their lot. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 103,000. The VIN was not available.
Harsh shifting up and down, never shifts into 2nd gear jumps from 1st to 3rd and 3rd to 1st possibly unsafe on ice and snow packed roads. Shift lag intermittently.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear driver's side door glass fractured without impact. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was inspected, and the contact was informed that the glass fracture was not due to a manufacturing defect. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, the contact stated that later, the rear driver's side door latch failed to latch as intended. The contact's son inspected the vehicle and noticed water in the door frame. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The contact referenced an unknown recall; however, the contact was informed that the VIN was not associated with the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving uphill at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal would go to the floorboard while depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that the brake master cylinder was leaking. The brake master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
Vehile is parked outside every night. On some cold mornings, with temperatures below freezing, one or more of the door latches freeze shut. Sometimes the door will not open. The most dangerous thing that happens is that if a door is opened and the latch is frozen, the door will fail to latch closed. You try to close the door and it just bounces off the frame of the car. It will not stay closed. I had to drive my kids to school today with one child holding a door shut the entire time since it would not latch closed. Additionally, at these times, the power locking actuators fail to raise or lower the locking mechanism. This does not happen every time there is freezing weather, but it has happened 10+ times over the past ~2 years. Multiple doors are affected.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated there was oil leaking from the vehicle. The contact noticed that there was oil underneath the front end of the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure persisted after the repair was completed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the oil pan failed due to the material being plastic and being mounted to an aluminum frame while overheating, causing the oil pan to expand and slightly detach. The oil pan had been replaced. The manufacturer had been made aware of the failure. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The approximate failure mileage was 16,000.
It was 15 degrees F out last night. Both driver and passenger front doors would not latch when closed. The passenger door swung open as I turned the corner. Thankfully I did not have a passenger.
There is a known problem with the 2015-2020 model year F150s door latches freezing shut, when in sub freezing temperatures, the door will wildly bounce off the truck frame and open/close on a whim. Usually I have either spent extra time in the mornings idling with the heat on long enough for the latches to melt themselves free, stood outside with a heat gun to evaporate the moisture or in a pinch, had to drive physically holding the door shut with a tow strap. This is on a modern, five year old vehicle mind you. The problem has been, at least on my truck, predominantly always the drivers side and passenger side doors until today when it impacted the rear doors of my crew cab. I drive my children (ages 4 & 5) to daycare and kindergarten every weekday. This morning my daughters door, which was seemingly latched shut and fine, swung wide open while turning. Luckily she was in a car seat and tightly in due to the harness but that is 100% unacceptable, dangerous and ridiculous. These latches are going to get a child killed. My truck was purchased in Clearwater FL and never had an issue the 3 years I lived in a tropical climate. I moved to Ohio, and during the summer, late spring and early fall was fine. As soon as the temperature drops for winter the freezing starts and the doors become dangerous. To my knowledge there are no safety recalls for this issue but a number of worthless “fixes” offered by Ford, all of which do nothing to rectify the problem. https://www.f150forum.com/f118/2015-frozen-door-latch-tsb-recall-updated-thread-435339/index122/
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated while attempting to unlock the door, the door latch would not release. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,818.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the cam phasers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.
Rear door latch failures in both left and right sides when there are freezing temperatures. Three separate incidents: 12/23/2019 - rear left door latch failure... the door opened, but would not latch when closed. Took to Ford dealership where they applied the 18N03 door latch safety recall service, adding seals, grease, and a clip. 12/28/2019 - just one week after the 18N03 safety recall service, both left and right door latches failed again, where the doors would open but would not latch shut (have recording on iPhone). Temperatures were 33F. Returned to Ford dealership and they replaced both latches under a third-party warranty. 12/21/2021 - both rear left door again would not latch shut in freezing temperatures. Able to latch shut after removing rubber seal from door and blowing hot air in from a hair dryer. Video of issue is on iPhone. 12/29/2021 - called Ford corporate office and spoke with Katelyn. Expressed concerns that the incident is recurring and wanted a permanent solution, given safety concerns. She indicated that she would record the incident in my file but that there is nothing further that Ford is recommending at this point. Will attempt to visit Ford service again to see what they can do, but I remain very concerned given the above history.
Mid December in the morning I hit the remote start and took my dog out to use bathroom and i heard a loud bang and when i came back to the truck the rear windshield had exploded… I have 3 cameras that look over the vehicle and after watching video there was nothing that touched or near the truck.. It just explodes and shattered after remote start. It had a strange smell and the rear window where the wires were at was burnt.
Shift indicator light will flash and go off. Check engine light and wrench light comes on for coded P0706, P0707, P1702, P1921. U0401. Needed range sensor. Shifted when it wanted to and quit altogether then start back up. Had range sensor replaced.
The electric power steering system can take up to 10 seconds to turn back on after the auto start/ stop function restarts the engine. The truck has done it intermittently since new, but now has started to do it more often. It has caused me a few close calls making right-hand turns. I start to take off only to find I have no steering assist and either have to manually steer the truck or stop and wait in the middle of an intersection for it to turn on. last week this caused me to run wide into the turn lane for the lane I was turning into, thankfully it was not occupied at the time or it could have caused an accident. Since it is not repeatable, and there are no warning/trouble lights the dealer is of no use. I asked when the truck was under warranty was told they didn't want to look at it unless it was able to be reproduced on demand. This issue is occurring at a rate of about 1-3 incidents a month.
I got a flat tire on Interstate 75 North in central Georgia. I had an issue with the lug nuts coming off. This issue put me and my family in grave danger. Instead of a simple tire change I had to wait on the side of the interstate for roadside assistance due to the issued lug nut wrench not working properly because of the swollen lug nuts! This is a very unsafe! Please contact Ford to make them accountable!

APIM failure
Used remote starter; about 2 minutes later my family entered the vehicle with my 2 small kids secured in their child seats in back seat. We left our home, made about 1-mile down the road when back window suddenly popped and shattered. Nothing struck or hit the window to break it. Tiny glass fragments blew onto my children and scared them. The plastic cover on the defroster connection mechanism on the rear center electronic sliding glass window also popped off and the one of the electronic metal connections is clearly broken loose on the mechanism also. No warning messages on dash/display. I did not turn on defroster and rear defroster light was not on at the time, but maybe came on automatically with remote start used. I submitted claim promptly with insurance. Have appointment with Service King for estimate and repair to be made. According to online forums, this unfortunate safety incident with Ford truck and van rear windows has occurred hundreds or thousands of times to Ford owners over the past 10 years.
Multiple doors have latches frozen open after opening such that when the door shuts it does not stay closed but appears closed. Will open when driving. Latches will reseat themselves after truck interior warms up.
My transmission started slipping and went completely out on a 2 lane busy highway. I had and still have NO transmission. I've driven mostly highway miles. No towing. Done all the proper maintenance. I now find out via my regular mechanic and subsequently checking the the internet that Ford F150 models 2017 - 2019, 10 speed transmission have had this problem including hard shifting (which I experienced) slippage of transmission. And to add to my frustration....the shops tell me....Ford needs to fix the issue and it will never be fully fixed. Regardless, most Ford shops want nothing to do with fixing the problem. I've only been able to get one shop, Larry Miller Ford in Lakewood....yes one to call me back and I have to wait over a month. So, I am having to rent a car to get to work....which costs me $1,200. And Larry MIller already told me....yes, this is a common problem....the fix will likely be between $ 900 to $2,000 fix. And NO....even though it's a common problem on Ford 150, Ford is NOT doing a recall. Come on....do your job.....put pressure on Ford to do a recall.
Problem started in May 2021 at about 70,000 miles. Initially truck would idle rough at stop lights, stop signs, and when parking RPM dropping to 500 not all the time. Then in August 2021 progressively got worse and even started idling rough and stalling at intersections, stop signs, and parking. When there is a lot of moisture in the air it is worse. One rainy night it stalled at three intersections in a row. You have to put vehicle in park and put some pressure on gas pedal to keep RPM's up. Someone is going to get hurt very bad in a accident or on the freeway from these trucks stalling out. My truck is currently in the dealership and they are initially saying they see no issues as there are no codes. Online there are many many of the same issue reported. All with the exact same characteristics of rough idle then stalling and no codes or check engine light.
Lug nuts are swollen. Dealer told me they needed to be replaced at a cost of $160.00. Not covered under warranty. Correctly made lug nuts do not need to be replaced. ALL tire changed and rotations have been done by FORD.
I started my truck with my remote starter. After letting it run and warm up for a couple minutes, we opened the doors to find cab filled with smoke. I immediately shut off the truck. I than let it air out for a few seconds to see where the smoke was coming from. I seen from standing by driver door it was smoking from behind the rear passenger seat as I run around front of truck to passenger door I hear the rear back window shatter
We have purchased this vehicle as a used vehicle and shortly after we purchase, the check engine light came on. We were advised to replace some solenoid(s) on the engine but that did not address the issue. The technician advised that we can continue replacing parts in the engine that would total around $3000 but there is no guarantee that it will address the issue and the most common fix they had was to replace the engine as this seems to be a common problem around F150 owners. We have received a second opinion from a local Ford dealership and they recommended replacing the engine as well which we ended up doing.
Rear defroster started smoking during morning warm up using remote start. Rear windshield was shattered violently. Very dangerous situation to be in. The shattering happened during a drive.
Check engine light on error code P2007 Runner control was replaced via Ford OEM PART #FR3Z 9J559 C Ran well for 2 days then stopped working.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle would hesitate upon startup without warning. The contact had initially taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where the engine shut off while performing a test on the battery. The mechanic discovered that the negative lead cable had become defective. The mechanic performed a temporary repair and instructed him to take the vehicle to the nearest dealer for repair. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer where it remained in their possession and was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed him that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
