Unable to remove lug nuts with provided tire tool. Took to Gary Yeomans Ford in Daytona Beach, FL. Was informed that my Lugnuts where Swollen and needed to be replaced. Paid $96 + tax for this repair.
The contact owned a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, smoke and heat were suddenly present inside the cabin of the vehicle. After exiting the vehicle the fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the flames. During the incident, the vehicle was destroyed and towed away. The contact indicated that the flames had started behind the front seats inside the cabin of the vehicle but the cause of the fire was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 47,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS NO POLICE OR FIRE REPORT, BUT BOTH ARRIVED AT THE SCENE. THE CONSUMER SUFFERED FROM 3RD DEGREE BURNS ON THE ARM.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the steering became difficult to turn. The contact stated the track assist and the hill descent warning lights were illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the gear assembly to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending the repairs. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 93,926.
Steering keeps on vibrating… feels like the whole truck is bouncing. Have done multiple alignments, rotates, balances, tire replacement and nothing has worked the steering gets very stiff around 70-80 mph and rides smooth then bumpy over and over , riding bumpy most of the time it’s on and off and it has nothing to do with what speed I go above 65-70 mph making me swerve and jerk the truck repeatedly. Also truck tends to vibrate obnoxiously at an idle almost like it’s going to die on me, I noticed this happening in drive when I come to a stop it stutters and almost dies… it has died 3 times on me now and have got 1 check engine light that has disappeared.thinking this may have something to do with the steering vibrations.
Wheel lug nuts swollen and impossible to difficult to get all off vehicle with supplied wrench.
I purchased this vehicle new in 2017 and since then I have had an intermittent issue with the rear camera when put into reverse. Either frozen image, static lines and yellow screen. When the image it frozen, it looks like its working but nothing in the screen is moving. If something is behind me I would not see it and think its clear. Ford has replaced the camera 1 time but I dont think thats the issue because I disconnected all the wires in the tail gate (where the camera is) and it still messes up. I have seen online a lot of other people with the same truck and same issue. here is a video of my issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAx6haPQ8Ho
While driving my vehicle the rear driver's side window completely shattered for no apparent reason. Weather conditions were clear and temperatures were mild (80 degrees). If a passenger would have been in the back seat at that time there could have been serious cuts from glass shards. I have an appointment on Sep. 28, 2021 to have the window replaced by a independent service center.
The transmission failing slips out of gear randomly when accelerating from a stop. Extremely long hard shifts that make the slam the vehicle forward. On occasion it will fail to downshift at all while braking, this has created several near miss accidents because of zero acceleration. Example being a on 55mph road, having to slow drastically or stop (truck was in 5th gear needed to be in second or 1st due to speed) .car in front of me turns causing a braking situation (not stopping) but leaves me and my family vulnerable to drivers approaching from the rear . If the road is wet, and the vehicle randomly drops the gear, in turn causing the vehicle break traction At random times. When attempting to pull out from a stop sign or a side road if the transmission slips or stutters and there’s oncoming traffic, there is a strong chance of being involved in an accident.
Went to change tires on 09/18/2021 @ Discount Tire and found that the rug nuts on wheels are swelled. In order to replace tires, I had to buy new sets of rug nuts. Ford sold its BEST SELLING trucks with defective/deficient rug nuts.
The Cam Phasers have failed. I have done all the Computer resets, both did not work, the truck is supposed to have them replaced. I have contacted Ford Customer service to no avail. The simply do not return my calls. I have left numerous messages regarding the delivery date for the parts necessary to replace my Cam Phasers. The vehicle has not caused a safety issue yet however the problem seems to be getting worse leading me to believe it will become unsafe to drive. Byers Ford Dealership has confirmed the problem however they have no idea when the parts for the cam phasers will be shipped. The Check Engine light came in August or September of 2021. I had this checked by an independent mechanic as well as the Ford Dealership. The problem as I see it is Ford has had a problem with their Cam Phases since 2005 and has done little or nothing to correct the problem. A little research and you can find out the the failure rate for Cam Phasers is around 40%. Seem to me NHTSA should have forced the manufactures to correct this problem a long time ago. It appears you are allowing the manufacturers to sell vehicles that have little value after the cam phasers fail as the replacement is not a permanent fix.
Rear sliding glass window track pops loose which is extremely common with these and should be fixed by ford. I’ve had mine fixed twice already. It’s unsafe and unfair for this many customers to have this issued and ford not warranty it or recall it.
Had tire failure on interstate 59 in Alabama. Went to change tire on truck and found lug nut wrench would not fit any of the lug nuts. All lug nuts distorted. Alabama State Trooper came to assist. He had a an electric impact wrench with multiple sockets and found an oversized socket and proceeded to remove lug nuts. Called local Ford dealership ( Cleveland Tn.) that has performed 100% of service on my truck since purchase And was told that lug nuts were swollen…. Asked service manager if they check lug nuts during tire rotation, and was told they inform customers if they need to be replaced.. Asked why I wasn’t informed… Also, is it reasonable to expect a lug nut wrench to fit in a roadside emergency? Replied that other auto manufacturers have the same problem.. Apparent design issue. Two piece hollow cap design hex collapses / distorts when torqued. Service techs just move to a larger socket which further distorts during impact wrench torquing.
The contact owns a 2017 FORD F-150. The contact stated that the rear glass sliding window had become defective due to the sliding track. The contact also stated that the top track had detached from the window which allowed moisture to enter the cabin of the vehicle. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer and was given an estimate for the repair of the window. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.
Slopping shifting. Lunges forward at slow speed shifting. Hard down shifting at times.
Eastbound I-94 around Burns Harbor, IN. High speed, high density traffic. High temperature warning illuminated on dash while the temperature gauge went to full cold. Within seconds the engine lost power, forcing me to navigate to the shoulder of the highway. I was successful, but the loss of power and the resulting speed differential put myself and other traffic at a significant risk of collision. The vehicle was shut down and checked for any signs of overheating. With no signs of overheating the vehicle was restarted and we continued to our destination. The following day the problem was diagnosed by Castle Ford, Michigan City, Indiana as a faulty cylinder head temperature sensor; there was not a problem with high temperature. The sensor has been replaced and there has been no further issue.
2017 Ford F 150 5.0 6 speed 4x4 transmission failed at 93000 miles in February 2021. Torque Convertor was replaced. August 13 2021, vehicle went into limp mode at highway speed and slammed into low gear causing a sudden slow down on the interstate. Wrench light was on and no gear selector indicator working. Was able to drive to dealership for diagnoses but no time availability until October 2021 or mid November 2021. Vehicle towed to AAMCO and diagnosed with Range Sensor Issue. Cannot order part due to being on back order. Suggested repair is full remanufactered transmission with 3 year 100k warranty. Vin number is not identified as being part of latest TSB or EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR THIS ISSUE.
My safety was put at risk when the the truck would not start after stopping at a light. This happened three times. The last two times on July 18th and August 11th, after shutting off the truck would not restart and the speed limit on each road is 45-55 mph. Police had to come block the road because it was unsafe. The dealer took the vehicle in on Aug 2-6th and advised that it was fixed, only for it to happen again on the 11th. No warning messages were present.
My son, Marine LCpl Ryan McCoy, was driving on I95 in Virginia back to Camp Lejeun when he heard a “pop” sound. Assuming something was wrong, he pulled over to the breakdown lane. The vehicle began to smoke and the temperature gauge shot up to the hottest it could register. At that time, he turned off the vehicle and exited. He noticed the front of the vehicles so in flames and began to run away from the vehicle and saw the vehicle violently explode. He called 911. Stare Trooper Joseph Worley arrived and he called a tow truck. When the fire went out, the trooper left without checking to see if Ryan was okay or had a ride anywhere. The tow truck dropped Ryan at the nearest rest stop and the tow truck took the vehicle to Interstate Garage.
Vehicles rear passenger brake light does not work when hitting brakes but lights up when vehicle is on. The blinker does not work but the reverse light does. Vehicle has a short somewhere and has put me at risk of being rear ended by others and I have drivers on the road notifying me on the daily. My vehicle is covered under CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) and only has 46k miles and well taken care of. Ford has not inspected it due to an upfront cost that I am expected to pay. The vehicle did not warn me of any electrical failures. I was notified by a friend that it was not working.
Recall for cam phaser. Our truck meets all the criteria and it needs fixed. We did not receive Lester in 2021. Called ford twice and talked to manager. They said to get ahold of you.
I received a letter from Ford stating I have to take my vehicle in to have the Cam adjusted. After getting the vehicle back from the Ford Dealership a problem with the engine shutting off started to occur. After driving the car for a period of time I would stop at a red light and the automatic engine control would turn the vehicle off. When I let off the break the engine would start and I could drive the vehicle. The problem that started happening is when I let my foot off the break the vehicle would stall. This is very dangerous because at busy intersections the vehicle would stall out and I have to place the vehicle in Park and start the vehicle to drive. We have taken the vehicle to the dealership two times and the problem has not been addressed.
Steering Assist was once again disabled within a week after the last incident with Steering Assist Caution advisory. This time it almost caused an accident. Steering malfunction happened right at the moment while making a left turn at the inside lane of an intersection. While the steering wheel was turned left to negotiate the turn, the steering became stiff and made the vehicle encroached on the outside lane. Applied brake immediately and forced steered vehicle back to inside lane.
Intermittent wipers do not shut off.
Power steering becomes non-functional and " Steering Assist Fault Service Required" warning is displayed. Happened three times, twice within (Odometer reading) 44410 miles and again at 44951 miles. The vehicle is difficult to steer and can cause accidents especially during high speed on highways. The problem eventually goes away after letting the car rest with engine turned off for a while. The malfunction does not produce fault code and dealer is not able to troubleshoot/replicate.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150 equipped with Cooper Tires, Tire Line: Evolution H/T, Tire size: 275/65/R18, DOT Number: 3018. The contact stated that the driver’s side tire had started to form air bubbles on the sidewall. The contact took the vehicle to the local tire repair shop and was informed that the tire could blowout, and needed to be replaced. The tire was replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage on the vehicle was 117,000. The tire failure mileage was 50,000.
The 10-speed transmission has had issues smoothly transition gears since I acquired it in early 2017. For years I have dealt with constant rough shifting, random clunking while driving at low speeds but now the issue seems to have progressed to the transmission sticking at higher speeds. I was driving recently at about 45mph and rpms just started roaring and it would not transition gears. The truck was in drive when this happened. When it finally did grab there was a hard thrust and threw the vehicle forward. These issues are present all of the time. Every time I put it in gear there is a clunk and a thrust. I have had the truck into the dealer numerous times over the 4+ years only to be told it was the adaptive transmission trying to learn how I am driving. Now, the dealer is so backed up with transmission-related issues they require you to leave your vehicle for 7+ days before they can even look at it leaving the consumer stranded without a vehicle. They should have all of the service records.
Transmission was shifting erratically, making it difficult to keep the proper speed on the thruway. Once I was able to pull over, the reverser gear stopped working, creating a hazard while I was trying to park in a busy parking lot. I am taking the car in this week to see what the issue is.
I was driving my vehicle stopped at a red light the light turned green I started to go through the intersection and when I got halfway through the intersection a loud clunk stopped my vehicle in the middle of the intersection I almost got rear ended and then I shut my vehicle off I started it back up and it kept lunging forward the transmission was having issues
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the engine compartment. Once the engine had warmed up, the rattling sound dissipated, and the vehicle returned to normal functionality; however, the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the cam phasers. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 21N03. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 42,000.
The contact owned a 2010 Newmar Essex RV hauling a 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor. The stated that while driving at 60 mph, he was alerted by another driver that the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor, had caught fire. The contact stated that the fire started from the hood and grille assembly of the vehicle. The contact attempted to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher, but was unsuccessful. The fire engulfed both vehicles. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. A police report and fire department reports were filed. No medical attention was received however, the contact stated that his cat was injured. Both vehicles were towed to a wrecking yard and was deemed totaled by the insurance company. The vehicles will later be towed to salvage yard for the insurance company to perform an investigation. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a complaint was filed with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 45,846.
About a month after purchasing the truck in April 2021 with About 35,000 on the truck when stopped at a traffic light the trucks auto stop/start kicked in and the vehicle would not restart and had to be pushed out of the road during rush hour. Since then the truck has been in the dealership atleast 5 times for this issue and has not been resolved. They keep giving the truck back saying they don't know

AFTER 40 MILE ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVE, I'VE GOT OFF THE OFFRAMP AND CAME TO A RED LIGHT. WHILE I WAS STOPPED MY TRUCK STARTED TO IDLE ROUGH FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS AND FINALLY STALLED. NO CHECK ENGINE OR WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED OTHER THAN A NOTIFICATION ON THE DASH SCREEN STATING TO PRESS BRAKE TO START. I THEN PRESSED THE BRAKE AND PUSHED START AND IT TURNED ON RIGHT AWAY. I THEN DROVE IN THE CITY FOR ANOTHER 20 MILES WITH NO PROBLEM AND THEN EVIDENTLY IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHEN I GOT TO A STOP. RESTARTED RIGHT AWAY WITH NO SECONDARY ISSUES. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THEY KEPT IT OVER NIGHT TO RUN TESTS BUT THERE WAS NO SUCCESS ON RECREATING THE PROBLEM. THEREFORE, NO REPAIR WAS MADE. I DO FIND THIS SITUATION UNSAFE DUE TO POSSIBLE FAULT OCCURRING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR ON A HILL WHILE DRIVING.

IT IS KNOWN THAT FORD HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CAM PHASERS ON THEIR 3.5 ECO BOOST ENGINE. MINE WENT BAD AND WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY IN NOVEMBER 2019 AND APPROXIMATELY 45,000 MILES. NOW AT 70,000, THE CAM PHASERS ARE NEEDING REPLACED AGAIN. FORD IS REFUSING TO COVER THIS EXPENSE AS MY TRUCK IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. IT IS ALSO KNOWN THEIR CAM PHASER FIX DOES NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE, THUS THE PROBLEM IS RECURRING. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND SHOULD BE COVERED IN FULL. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE EFFECTING THE MAJORITY OF FORD 3.5 ECO BOOST ENGINES. WHY WILL FORD NOT OWN UP TO THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT?
THE TEMPERATURE WAS ABOUT 17 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. THE DRIVER AND .AND DRIVER SIDE REAR DOORS WOULD NOT LATCH UPON CLOSING. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE DOORS TO LATCH BY HEATING THE LATCH WITH A HAIR DRYER, SPRAYING THE LATCH WITH SILICONE LUBE, AND SIMULTANEOUSLY OPERATING THE ELECTRIC LOCK SWITCH MULTIPLE TIMES. I HAVE HAD NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. FORTUNATELY, I WAS AT HOME WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED. HAD I BEEN ON THE ROAD, I WOULD HAVE BEEN STRANDED. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN THE PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED.
Previous recall for my vehicle seemed to have been reported as fixed with out an actual fix. My locks/handles are getting water in them and when the weather gets below freezing it causes them not to lock. I asked one of my local dealerships to fix while I was able to see active recall on my app and they were unable to because they said the issue had to be occurring when I brought it in. Since the issue goes away when the sun warms up the lock I was unable to do so. Now when I check my app and on the nhtsa website when I check my VIN no recalls show up.
IN BELOW FREEZINNG TEMPS THE DOOR LATCHES FREEZE UP. MAKIG IT HARD TO ENTER THE TRUCK AND ONCE IN THE DOORS REFUSE TO LATCH CLOSED, SO UNLESS YOU WANT TO DRIVE AROUND WITH THE DOORS UNLATCKED YOU HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE TRUCK WARM UP ENOUGH TO THAW THE LATCHES. NOT WHAT YOU WANT FROM A $38K TRUCK .
DRIVER AND PASSENGER LOCKS WILL FREEZE AND THEY WILL NOT CLOSE OR LOCK. VERY DANGEROUS.
GOOD DAY TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, ON FEBRUARY 13,2021 I HAD A MAJOR BRAKE FAILURE WHILE PARKING MY TRUCK WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AS I WAS BACKING UP. THE REASON THIS IS A CONCERN IS THAT I REGULARLY HAVE MY VEHICLE SERVICED AT ONLY FORD DEALERSHIPS. THE TWO MOST RECENT TIMES I HAD SERVICE WAS ON JANUARY 21,2021 THE WORKS OIL AND FILTER CHANGE WHICH INCUDES INSPECTING INSPECTING THE BRAKE SYSTEM; AND OCTOBER 27,2020 THE WORKS OIL AND FILTER CHANGE WHICH INCLUDES INSPECTING THE BRAKE SYSTEM AT WHICH TIME I HAD REAR BRAKE WORK DONE BY FUTURE FORD LINCOLN OF CONCORD 2258 DIAMOND BLVD. CONCORD CA.94520. THE TECHNICIAN SAID IT WAS TO MUCH PRESSURE APPLIED TO MY BRAKES WHILE BACKING UP AND PARKING. I HAVE NOT EVER EXPERIENCED THIS THROUGH OVER 40 YEARS OF DRIVING AND IT IS A VERY CONCERNING ISSUE THAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF IT CAN BE INVESTIGATED INTO PLEASE. THANK YOU
CABIN HEATING/WINDSHIELD DEFROSTING SYSTEM NOT WORKING, ONLY BLOWS SOME WARM AIR THROUGH PASSENGER SIDE DASH VENTS, ONLY COLD AIR TO FLOOR, DRIVERS SIDE DASH VENTS AND WINDSHIELD DEFROST. UNABLE TO CLEAR FOG/FROST FROM WINDSHIELD {SAFETY ISSUE}, PER FORD TSB 20-2236 FORD DEALERSHIP NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE TSB.
THE DOORS WILL NOT OPEN WHEN THE WEATHER IS BELOW FREEZING. AFTER LETTING THE TRUCK HEAT UP FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO PRY OPEN THE DOOR, HOWEVER WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THEM, THEY WOULD NOT LATCH. AFTER ANOTHER 30 MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR AND PRESS THE LOCK BUTTON TO GET THEM TO LATCH, BUT THEN THE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN AT ALL AFTERWARDS DESPITE MY PRYING. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS I HAD MY TODDLER IN THE BACK SEAT AND I COULD NOT ACCESS THE TRUCK. THIS HAS HAPPENED AFTER I'VE ALREADY HAD IT TAKEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY PERFORMED THEIR RECALL FIX, THE FIX DID NOT WORK AND THEY SAY THEY HAVE NOTHING ELSE THEY CAN DO.
Hello. My 2017 Ford F-150 has experienced the faulty windshield wiper issue resulting in the wiper motor to fail. As a result, I've had to replace the wiper motor engine\wiper arms twice in the past couple of years. All services were taken care of through the local Ford Dealership including transaction history. I understand the recent recall for this issue but when I contact Ford Customer Service, they state it does not apply to my specific model. The recall for this was just anounced this week but only for 2021 & 2022 models. Please help. Thanks
Oil pan is leaking TSB 20-2051 superceeds a previous TSB. After searching online this is a known issue acknowledged by the mafacturer affecting numerous vehicles that should be covered through a manufacture recall. The latest TSB states to replace the plastic oil pan with with a metal oil pan. This is an obvious manufacturing defect that consumers should not have to pay to repair.
THE FORD F-150 MULTI FUNCTION SWITCH HAS GONE BAD. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STAY ACTIVATED IN THE SLOWEST MODE. THIS OBSTRUCTS THE VIEW OF DRIVERS, AND IS DISTRACTING. THE PART NUMBER IS: FL3Z-13K359-AC. THIS MALFUNCTION IS AN ISSUE FOR 2015 MODELS AND NEWER. THERE ARE MANY VIDEOS ONLINE PERTAINING TO THIS MULTI FUNCTION SWITCH MALFUNTION.
THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTS ABRUPTLY UP AND DOWN THROUGH GEARS CAUSING THE TRUCK TO BUCK AND JERK. WHEN DRIVING THE TRANSMISSION WILL JERK THE TRUCK FORWARD AND BACKWARD. THIS IS OCCURRING ON CITY STREETS WHILE IN MOTION. THE TRUCK HAS APPROX. 50K MILES ON IT AND THIS STARTED HAPPENING IN JANUARY.
