Drivability issues. Harsh shifting, downshifting, loss of acceleration, and warning lights appearing. Giving Code P0722
Transmission dropped into first gear at 45mph. Rear end locked up while taking my kids to school. Output speed sensor in transmission. Lead frame issue.
Transmission started shuddering then it downshifted to 1st gear while driving 45. Almost blew the motor up and scared the living hell out of me. No accident thankfully. 2 days later transmission went out completely. 5300 dollar repair bill from Coburns in shreveport Louisiana.
While driving , brake pedal went to the floor causing vehicle to barely stop. upon stopping and exiting vehicle noticed brake fluid on the ground and right side brake hose had ruptured. Vehicle had to be towed for repairs. Ford Service department says entire brake line and hose must be replaced due to "fitting is swollen".
Transmission lead frame failure. Common / known issue with Ford F150's. Evidently, there is a recall on the part that mine needs, but my vin isn't included in the recall. I can't accelerate at random. Vehicle starts off in 3rd gear / limp mode Yes, confirmed by ASE certified tech Replacement part isn't readily available due to high failure rate and recall.
On 2/19/25, I was driving to work. Approximately 2 miles from home I started to hear a grinding / humming noise coming from the front differential, like the 4 wheel drive was engaged. I pulled over and confirmed the 4 wheel drive switch was turned off. I backed up about 20 feet, to disengage the 4 wheel drive. I continued on my way. About 3 miles later the noise returned. I could tell the 4 wheel drive had definitely engaged at around 40 mph. Again, I pulled over. When I got under 10 mph, the 4 wheel drive disengaged by itself. This happened 2 more times within the next 5 miles. Had the truck towed to Ford dealership. Technician could not replicate the condition. They performed a Ford TSB (24-2188) Transfer case control module reprogram. Out of caution, I paid them to replace the 4 wheel drive actuator ($445.00 repair). Mileage on vehicle 74354. Problem seemed to be resolved, until 9/13/25. I was driving on a very busy interstate, approximately 60 mph, I hear a loud thump, like I ran over something on the road. Loud humming and bad vibration coming from front end. No place to pull over safely, reduced speed to 45 mph. As I pull to side of the road at about 5 mph, the 4 wheel drive disengages, vibration & noise goes away. Again this happens 3 times in the next 40 miles. (Mileage on vehicle 75529) No issues since - current mileage 77606.
Was on my way to work going about 75 and my truck shifted from 6th gear to 1st gear causing my back wheels to lock up and caused me to lose control nearly wrecking my vehicle
Engine exhibits severe rattle on cold start ups. Occasionally a loud rattle occurs at highway speeds at random times. After research, I discovered Ford was aware of the failure of the cam phasers that produce this issue.
I am writing to report a serious and recurring safety issue with my vehicle. On multiple occasions, while either pulling out into traffic or driving at normal speeds, the vehicle has unexpectedly dropped into first gear. This sudden downshift has caused the vehicle to decelerate abruptly, nearly resulting in a loss of control and posing a significant risk of an accident. As a business owner, I often have crew members riding with me, and this malfunction endangers not only my employees but also my family when they are in the vehicle. This is an unacceptable and dangerous situation that must be addressed immediately. I am requesting a full inspection and diagnosis of the transmission system, along with a permanent resolution to this issue. I urge you to prioritize this matter due to the safety risks involved.
My vehicle cam phasers went bad. Cost to repair is in the upwards of $5000. Called Ford was unwilling to help pay for repairs. There was a TSB put out a year or so ago that stated that FORD knows about the cam phaser issue and would help pay for repairs. My cam phasers went bad this week and if not fixed can cause complete engine failure. They have apparently redesigned them a couple of times. I just don't get it, if it's a known defect in the 3.5 EcoBoost engine s how come there is no recall on them. I'm not the only one complaining check the ford forums online. I have to get it repaired or pay for a whole new engine. Plus I have an active recall on my braking system for about9 months know.
6 speed automatic transmission downshifts while traveling at high speed into low gear by itself, causing vehicle to change speed and lock up rear wheels. Very dangerous! Vehicle has 66,150 miles on it, and isn’t used for work. The transmission also shifts into second and third gears while sitting still at a traffic light. This has happened multiple times. It is just now 1 month out of service contract (ended 8/2025 it started 9/2025). It is available for inspection. It has not been to dealer or mechanic yet for inspection or repairs to this certain transmission issue. It has ONLY ever been serviced by Ford dealer on regular basis since I purchased it new. No warning lights or codes of any kind. This is now not safe to drive, as it’s happening almost daily. Hopefully this is a RECALL soon and Ford does the right thing!
2017 Ford F150 with 2.7 Ecoboost Since Oct 2024 thru Present Error code P2450 with Check Engine Light Same issue with 2016 models and there are no recalls fore the 2017. WHY??? After vehicle sitting off fore shoot periot check light comes on with same error code Looks like your FIXD Sensor showed Engine Code P2450 on your 2017 Ford F-150 Definition: Evaporative Emission System Switching Valve Performance About Engine Code P2450 Indicates a malfunction with the evaporative emission system switching valve, specifically its performance or operation, which may lead to incorrect fuel vapor management within the EVAP system.
Truck has roughly 185,000 miles & is equipped with the 10r80 transmission. Transmission recently began experiencing harsh & hard shifts, skipping or slipping gears, gear searching and randomly shifts to neutral. Had transmission fluid/filter changed with little to no change in erratic transmission. Issues have been intermittent and I am unable to reproduce manually. 4 transmission shops and a ford dealership have all advised the most likely diagnosis is a failed CDF drum that has been a common issue with these transmissions but they cannot confirm without a teardown of the transmission. Vehicle is still drivable, if issues occur I park, turn the truck off for at least 1 minute. After starting the truck again the issue resolves itself. This issue leaves the vehicle susceptible to stalling/neutral on the roadway and at highway and city speeds.
Vehicle has a cam phaser rattle which is causing risk of significant engine damage. This is a known issue does refuses to fix with a proper recal. The original tab did not fix the problem
Car rolls freely when placed in park
- Cam Phasers failed. Ford installed faulty Cam Phasers in their 2017-2020 Ford F150 trucks that cost $5,700 to fix. It is a very well known issue. No, you can not inspect the issue due to the fact that you have to take apart the engine to get to them. - When Cam Phasers fully malfunction the engine is blown and will need to replace the engine. - Yes, it was diagnosed by a dealership - No warning lamps. There is a rattling sound when starting the vehicle and after research there is a ton of videos with the exact same thing happening to others.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer to obtain a loaner vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.
Sudden jerking movements when accelerating and braking. Needs new transmission. Reading there have been many reports of 10R80 transmission issues with Ford
On 4 occasions, my F150 has went in reverse when transmission was in the drive position. The truck would travel backwards 3 to 5 feet before shutting off. The first time happened at a stop sign. Nearly backed into another vehicle. PCM was reprogrammed. 2nd time occurred on leaving my driveway. Ford replaced an ABS module. 3rd time happened in front of my house. Ford found bent pin on PCM. 4th time occurred at waste facility after unloading trash. Vehicle went in reverse when transmission was in drive. Vehicle went backwards at least 3 feet. Nearly backed into a ford F250 and pinned driver of vehicle between the 2 trucks. Ford has changed a relay. I have contacted Ford by chat, phone, and email. The case manager refuses to communicate with me about this matter.
Cruising on the highway then transmission down shift to 4th gear happened twice
Transmission downshifts and back tires locking up.
I was driving my 2017 F150 3.5 eco-boost at highway speeds when I suddenly was in 10th gear and it dropped to first gear locked in my rear tires up while driving 70 miles an hour a manual light appeared in my dash which was the ones wrench. I noticed it would shift down gears on its own when I didn’t slow down, but when I went up and dropped back down to first gear every time. Vehicle is currently in shop. My safety was put at risk when I was driving 70 miles an hour down the highway in my 2017 F150 lariat in my transmission shifted from 10th year down to first locking my rear tires my transmission is a 10R80

Experienced transmission down shifting at highway speeds. Traveling at approx 75 mph in OH, when truck down shifted to 5th gear and showed warning message "drive train malfuction", message cleared on key cycle. Issue again occurred 8 days later in OH/PA return trip home. No message in cluster, but vehicle returned to normal operation after key cycle. Vehicle has operated normally for the last week. Dealer tried to pull codes, none set. Appointment made to have them look at truck, but they don't expect to find anything. Continue to drive truck, and IF message in cluster reappears bring it by if possible.

The oil pan leaking is a known problem with their design. It is a problem because of them using a plastic part meeting a aluminum part. They know its a problem. If the leak in the pan continues to leak and oil can contact the hot exhaust and cause a fire, or if enough oil was to leak out while driving, the engine could seize and cause the truck to go out of control.
First experienced slight steering weaving for a week. Then electric power steering assist completely went out. $2,450 bill to replace. This issue has been to common with F150's and should be a recall fix for free issue. Requesting assistance

The lead frame failed and was replaced by Ford dealer. The vehicle downshifts while driving. This through a code “wrench” on the dash board indicating something needed to be addressed. Took vehicle to a couple repair shops and a transmission shop and all confirmed it was a faulty lead frame. Transmission shop said to contact Ford because there had been recalls on this very issue for the same year and model truck. This issue started a couple months prior to the repair which was on 8/8/2025. I did call Ford and they gave me a phone number for Auto Line Program. I filed a complaint but it denied.
When using the truck in S transmission mode , The back wheels unexpectantly lock up due to a severe downshift. I reported this to the Ford Dealer when it first happened likely around 2018. The dealer kept the truck and reviewed the complaint. They reported that they couldn’t reproduce the downshift so nothing was done. I used the truck in that mode as recent as yesterday. I was going downhill around 20 mph and it downshifted hard once again. It seems to happen when the truck is coasting down an inclined road or when driving say 50 mph and pressure on the gas pedal is slightly reduced.

To check it out anytime as I just have it setting waiting on recall. I need a truck, please issue recall
Component: 6r80 transmission lead frame Safety: Driving at 70mph on the interstate on 07/23/2025 and vehicle violently downshifted while in cruise control. Rear tires locked briefly. Driver and passenger were restrained by the seat belts or there would have been a loss of control. I was able to pull to the side of the road. Reproduced: This is the third time in a year that this has happened. Independent shop is scheduled to inspect. DTC codes P061A and P0722 are logged in the PCM. On July 18, 2025, I was fueling my vehicle at COSTCO. I put my vehicle in park, exited and left the door open while I waited for my credit card to clear so I could start fueling my vehicle. I was out of the vehicle for about a minute when the vehicle started to move backwards. I was standing between the open door and the drivers seat and was startled when it began to move. I was hopping on one foot trying to get back into the vehicle. Ultimately, the open door hit a column at the station. There was damage done to my door. There was no warning that made me aware that the vehicle wasn't still in park and there was an impending issue.
While driving with my cruise control at 75, the instrument cluster began to blink on and off like it was shorting out. Then the truck would suddenly downshift and search for a gear. It continued to do this until I could exit the highway. The truck aggressively downshifted multiple times quickly decelerating the vehicle. It was pretty scary.
Timing system failed at 73,000 miles causing engine stall loosing power brakes and control.

I was driving on the PA turnpike and upon hitting a pothole or bump the mount on the frame that the lower control arm bolts onto broke off. I was going under the speed limit with two small children in the car and a piece of my frame broke off after a slight bump. Every mechanic and person I speak to at ford is saying it shouldn't have happened and they can't believe it. There was no warning and I drove onto the turnpike got almost all the way home before it randomly broke. I spoke with Ford and they are unwilling to help after running my VIN. They say unless I put a complaint in and you open a recall that they will not help me. This is a 2017 truck with minimal rust it should not be breaking off a simple bump on the highway. I had a 9 year old and a 10 month old in the car and the front left of my suspension broke away from the vehicle after routine driving. Something needs to be done about the situation ford should be more concerned they have a frame break on such a new vehicle. Thank you for your time.
Back up camera does not work blank blue screen or freezes up or graney view can't see any possible hazards behind vehicle.
I purchased a 2017 F150 in March of 25’. Miraculously no issue started until approx 4000 miles after the purchase. The dealer warranty was good for 3500. In the months that preceded issue after issue began to arise. First and least important in my personal opinion. I get in my truck to head to work and my sliding back glass is laying in backseat, completely intact with the track it slides on. One would initially think the GA sun maybe warmed the adhesive to such a Temp that it came loose but my truck is parked in the shade every day at work & at home. Insurance won’t cover it because they say it’s on Ford. Next I have lost power steering, when loosing it i have apparently lost all of steering, uphill downhill assistance an approx 10 other warnings that come every time i crank it. I have been driving the truck 7 months now with no power steering. Lastly and most important, the 10 speed transmission is completely faulty. The problems with it started in July. When accelerating from a stand still, like pulling on the road or highway, over 50% of the time the transmission just fails and you are a sitting duck for any oncoming traffic. Typically 2-4 secs later, the truck will catch of sudden with such a jerk it will give you whiplash. So once you made it through getting on the highway without dying, every shift of the transmission from 4th to 10th, the truck shutters and shakes so bad it seems like it will fall apart. The engine light will start flashing and you can’t go faster than 40-45 for about 15 secs until the engine light is solid again. Then while shuttering you can’t attempt to increase speed. I contacted Ford, I was completely blown off, they denied that 2017 f150 have any transmission issues. I’m forced to drive this daily because I spent all my savings on this truck. Oil change, along with oil filter have been kept up every 5,000 mi. I out everything into this truck and now I have a duct tape back window, no power steering and a transmission faulty.
