The oil pan has a rtv gasket from factory and started leaking, I’ve replaced it twice and is still leaking. It’s expensive and cumbersome. It runs the risk of oil starvation, this would cause catastrophic engine failure, ford has TSB for this issue. UNKNOWN UNKNOWN
This vehicle is subject to NHTSA Recall #25V236 (Ford Recall #25S37) for a defective brake master cylinder that can leak into the brake booster, reducing braking effectiveness and creating a serious crash risk. The recall was issued on April 11, 2025. As of today, Ford has not provided any remedy. My local dealership confirmed that no fix is available, and Ford Corporate has refused to provide a loaner, rental allowance, or written timeline. This leaves me with an unsafe vehicle that I cannot rely on. This recall has been open for months without resolution, and Ford’s refusal to provide assistance places me and the public at risk. I request that NHTSA investigate Ford’s failure to provide a remedy in a timely manner, require Ford to provide comparable loaner/rental vehicles until the repair is available, and hold them accountable for this unreasonable delay.
There is an engine rattle when starting the vehicle. I took my vehicle to Ford of Upland dealership. They said I need to replace my VCT Solenoids and water pump. This was a known issue for this year and make of vehicle and I never received any notification. Now, they want to change me $6000 to repair it. There was TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 23-2143 issued for this defect.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the check engine light had illuminated and the vehicle had experienced rough operation. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the cam phasers were faulty and advised that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 144,000.
This incident has occured twice. The first time, February 2025, I was driving the vehicle at approximately 55mph with Cruise Control engaged. The vehicle took itself off cruise and drop shifted to 1st gear. The rear tires skidded but I was able to pull over safely. Wrench warning on the screen. I shut off the vehicle. Restarted and the wrench icon was still present and vehicle would not shift to higher gears. Restarted again and the issue was gone. Independent service center could not find any issues or reproduce the problem. The second instance, July 1st 2025, occurred while towing a travel trailer. I was traveling at 25mph and the truck shifted to 1st and the rear tires locked briefly. The wrench icon appeared on the dash and then disappeared. It happened again just a minute or so later and then did not reoccur. Due to the low speed, no injuries occurred and control was maintained. I am certain that if this had happened at highway speed, there would have been an accident.
The mounting bolt for the lower control arm at the driver's front wheel sheared off causing the mounting on the frame to tear away completely. Wheel came off axis and loss of steering.
Truck rapidly shifted from fifth to third gear, causing the truck to jolt and lock the rear tires. This has occurred at least three times since a recall was performed on the truck’s computer several months ago. After it happened today, the truck produced the following codes: P0720 and U0102. This could be detrimental when driving at high speeds on the highway. Truck can be inspected if requested. A local Ford dealer has been informed about the issue and stated that the recall would not have caused it. No inspections have been performed due to the inconsistent occurrence of this issue.
My truck is going me a P0720 code which tells me that my Shaft Output Sensor is bad. It is built into my lead frame. This is a known issue with F150’s I have seen. My transmission is clunky and downshifting randomly.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 MPH, and up a slight grade, the vehicle inadvertently downshifted. The contact was towing an empty 12-foot, single-axel, flatbed trailer. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was on a two-lane road and was unable to pull over. The vehicle lost motive power and failed to respond while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was unable to exceed 20 MPH while driving. The contact pulled into a service station where a mechanic checked the vehicle. The mechanic informed the contact that the engine had overheated and that the oil level was low by 3 quarts. The contact had the mechanic top off the oil and waited for the engine to cool down. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to restart. The mechanic jump-started the vehicle, and the contact stated that the engine was making abnormal metal-on-metal grinding and knocking sounds. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that metal shavings were found in the oil pan and recommended that the engine and the turbocharger be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure of the inadvertent downshifting had not been addressed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to a known issue with inadvertent downshifting. The failure mileage was 88,366.
Torque converter failed. Started with slipping feeling in the rear end. Then got worse and worse before it was a constant slippage. Local dealer and repair shop both diagnosed as a torque converter and both strongly recommend replacing the torque converter and the transmission. Around $10,000
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced unintended downshifts or hard and erratic shifts. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted from 10th gear to 1st gear temporarily, and the RPM was significantly high. The powertrain warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle jerked abnormally while shifting into gear. The failure increased while driving at higher speeds. The vehicle was taken to Holmes Auto Repair and to a dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The dealer and the certified mechanic recommended that the transmission, the CDF drum, or other unknown parts be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
When the vehicle is started, the cam phasers rattle, and yes, it is available for inspection upon request. Ford mechanics and other mechanics have stated that if not replaced, the cam phasers will eventually fail. This puts others at risk as the auto start/stop feature shuts the engine off anytime the vehicle comes to a stop. If the cam phasers failed while stopped in the road, the vehicle would not start back up, causing a rear end collision and possible injury/death to anyone on the road. The problem exists in the 2015-2018 Ford F150 3.5L ecoboost. Ford resolved the issue in the 2019 model F150 by replacing the cam phasers with ones that are built with better quality. I am unsure if the vehicle issue has been inspected by others. There have been no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. It first appeared in my vehicle around this year.
10 speed transmission randomly threw a incorrect 10th gear ratio code and threw my truck into limp mode on the interstate in traffic. Transmission had to be rebuilt
After reports to my Ford service center about hard shifting and being charged to reset something in it I took the truck back AGAIN for the third time to be told the problem was with technical service bulletin 25–20 126 delayed engagement shifting issue they were gonna fix had a more in depth problem, cdf was replaced and the transmission case was cracked and replaced. Please note I bought this was 77,000 miles and reported the problem to Ford soon thereafter it wasn’t until 89,000 miles that they finally found the problem. Although I had an extended warranty, I still had to pay $992.00.
While traveling at highway speeds, my truck will downshift from 6th gear to first gear. On occasion, the heads up display will randomly flash between different driving modes (reverse, M, Neutral) as if it is resetting. This also happens at medium speeds (20-30 mph)
With low miles on my vehicle I’m experiencing cam phasers start becoming very loud and rattling coming from my engine compartment due to the cam phasers as I research I found that it will eventually shred up the inside of the engine and destroy it, I wouldn’t want to be going down the highway and my engine lock up do to this issue and many other people’s issues of the same exact thing this is a major safety issue that needs to be fixed for me and the multiple multiple other people that have complained also
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated while parked and occupying the vehicle, there was a rattling sound coming from the engine. There was no warning light illuminated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
Consistent hard shifting and hard downshifts.. Dealership charged us to reset this and it has not solved the problem I bought this vehicle used at 77,000 miles and it was the biggest mistake I ever made. Ford keeps denying that there’s an issue with the transmissions and I’m genuinely afraid to own this vehicle.
I was driving at 62 MPH and the truck suddenly down shifted. It is a 6 speed transmission and I was in 6th gear when it down shifted. The indicator that displays what gear it is in disappeared but the rpm went form 1,500 up to 3,000 very abruptly. In fact, when it happened, the back wheels actually hoped up and down a couple of times. I tried to shift in manually but nothing. I stopped the car, restarted and it would not upshift. I put the car into neutral while I was rolling and then put it back into gear and the transmission stared to act normal.
Vehicle transmission will instantly drop to gears 3 to 5 (limp mode from what I have researched) & wrench light comes on. Very dangerous on the interstate traveling at 70mph+, seems to happen more frequently on hotter days. You can park & turn off vehicle, then crank back up, & it is out of limp mode but transmission is sluggish. Initially it was happening once per week on avg, now it is a toss up on each drive I do whether it goes into limp mode or not.

THe rear camera displays vertical lines. The camera has been replaced, the tailgate wiring harness has been replaced. The wiring integrity has been verified by Ford technician. The code B115E-08 is diagnosed. Ford wants $1000 to 'replace ' the camera.???? I bought a new camera. Its NOT a faulty camera. There are 100,000+ 2017 Ford truck recalls for this same issue. Its all over Ford F150 Forum, Google etc. Why isnt my truck included? All Ford wants to do is replace all the modules and send me on my way for $1000
Truck has been downshifting at low gears prior to this main incident. Usually at low speeds between the 1-3 gears. But today I was driving down the highway at approximately 65 mph in the 6th gear and without warning it seemed to electrically down shift into 1st gear. I describe it as electrically because the Rpm’s dropped almost instantly for a second and seemed to reboot. Which is extremely dangerous especially on a busy highway. Not only could I cause me to crash but also others to wreck into my self and poses a incredible risk for my fellow drivers And this is the reason for my complaint. Going from the 6th gear to 1st has to be some sort of recall and or an indication of far greater problem. What is even more odd there have been no check engine lights on for any of these instances.
Prior to 5/30/25. On 3 or 4 different occasions, I had experienced a very harsh transmission downshift. Most instances occurred under 15 mph from second to first gear. On 1 occasion, transmission downshifted from third gear right to first, at around 30 mph. All of these incidents happened while coming to a stop. On 5/30/25, again while coming to a stop. Transmission downshifted, very harshly. This time the digital speedometer went haywire. Lights flashed everywhere, but no check engine light. Attempting to move forward, transmission shifted randomly and erratically to any gear it desired, both up & down. Vehicle would not go over 18 mph. Vehicle was towed to a local transmission shop. Upon further inspection, they determined that a faulty transmission range sensor was causing these issues. Shop replaced the range sensor, wire harness, transmission filter and fluid. Cost $1155.00. Mileage at that time was 74846. No issues since the repair was completed.

The cam phasers wear prematurely causing possible issues with engine timing and engine failure
The intake manifold on this series of trucks is a commonly found failure. It is costly as it requires complete disassembly and reinstall for internal components, that lead to poor performance and eventual engine damage if not repaired. I had a SES code 2019 flag for this and required me to have >$1500 repair to resolve by a reinstall of a new intake manifold by the Ford Dealer on May 21, 2025. This should have been recalled with the vast number of problems seen online and that the dealer had this part in stock as it is so common. I was only 50d after my extended ESP warranty when it went.

Cam phaser rattle and need to be replaced on 3.5L eco boost. Ford had acknowledged this has been a larger problem and addresses a consumer report to notify public. Cam Phaser were upgraded in 2020 due to mechanical errors.
The moonroof gets stuck while I try to close it and stays open
For the 4th time I am driving my truck, unexpectedly out of nowhere the transmission shifts, tires lock up, I am perked into the steering wheel and can't accelerate over 15 mph. Cars forced to dodge around me, horns blowing and I have no choice other than creeping on side of road until I decides to move. Please do something about thus hazard before something more serious happens
Backup camera quit working
I'm reporting an issue that was previously reported on earlier model F150's with the transmission sensor. I had an error code come up and the truck would not shift out of 3rd gear. After taking it to the shop they said it was likely the speed sensor within the transmission, and that the whole transmission casing and sensor needed to be replaced since it causes issues with shifting. After research, this has been under investigation, and clearly needs to be addressed. This is going to cost thousands to repair an issue that has been known on these 6 speed transmissions by Ford.
