When we come to a complete stop and going at highway speed the transmission slips from 10th gear to 1st gear while driving then through other gears until it catches back up to the correct gear. The whole truck will stall until the correct gear is found causing us to possibly be hit
I was driving down the road at 70 mph and my 10R80 transmission rapidly downshifted to 1st gear. This is on top of the erratic shifting and driveline vibration from the CDF clutches which ford said tough luck on getting repaired/warrantied after they announced they fixed with a redesign, but also after being told "nothing is wrong" until after the warranty has gone out.
The engine has a bad rattle on every first start (or cold start). There are a ton of posts about this issue, and it sounds like it's a bad cam phaser that's prevalent on all F-150s built between 2017 and 2020. If there are so many trucks affected, then why isn't there a recall in place from Ford? It looks like Ford had some type of extended warranty issued through Jan 2023, but then that stopped. Here is more information on the issue: Ford is aware of the Cam Phaser problems and has issued a technical several bulletin to address the complaints and provide warranty repairs. According the Ford Cam Phaser Technical Service Bulletin Program 21N03 (TSB): “In some of the affected vehicles, an undesirable noise may develop from the cam phasers in the 3.5L GTDI engine. This noise might occur as a rattle when starting the engine after the vehicle was turned off for an extended period of time or as a knocking noise when the engine is idling after it is warmed up” In addition, the Ford Cam Phaser TSB has established a program which extends the warranty coverage of the engine cam phasers until January 1, 2023.
Vehicle has 54k and requires a$4000 repair Ford Repair Bulletin 24-2046 I bought the truck with 5k on it and the extended warranty is not transferable Apparently this a very common issue. I think it should be considered as a recall item Thank you [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at approximately 40 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the transmission shifted erroneously from 2nd gear to 4th gear. The contact stated that the failure also occurred while in 5th gear and attempting to accelerate, with the transmission downshifting to 2nd gear before jolting into the higher gear. The contact stated that the gear shift transitions were not smooth and caused the vehicle to jolt. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated, and the "WRENCH" symbol was displayed. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the CDF drum and a transmission overhaul was needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.
The transmission on my 2019 F-150 truck hesitates and slips out of gear. This started in 2020 and is occurring more frequently now. About 2 weeks ago I was traveling on the highway at approximately 55mph when the transmission unexpectedly seemed to slip into Neutral and the truck no longer responded to the gas peddle. I had not touched the gear at all. The vehicle began to coast and I felt I had no control of it, putting my safety at risk of a crash on the highway. Before I could attempt to pull off the highway, the transmission shifted back into drive and began to respond to me pressing the gas. In 2020 the vehicle was taken in for assessment for gear slipping and I was told nothing was wrong with it. I recently went for repairs this week and the dealership indicated that there is a likely a transmission problem, however, they are so backed up with transmission complaints that they can't get to me until mid-July. There are/were no warning lights illuminated.
There is a delay in shift engagement in our 2019 Ford F150. When we took it to our mechanic they gave us a code that showed up on the vehicle and said to take it to the dealer along with a packet to give to the dealer when we drop it off. The packet that they gave us includes 9 different ford models for multiple years that are having the same issue. The date of issue was found August 14, 2023. This is almost a year of having a known issue that can cause your transmission to stop working and ford has not issued a recall.
Transmission overheated and started sporadically shifting out of nowhere. Going 70mph on the highway in 10th gear and suddenly downshifted to 3rd gear then back to 8th then to 5th then 1st and back to 8th. Truck jerked all around and took all i had to keep it on the road and pull over in a safe manner. Had an independent mechanic come look at it where i pulled over at. He couldn't find any issues. Took it to a local ford dealer afterwards and had them look it over as well and again, they couldn't find any issues.
Noticed a squeaking/rattle noise took to shop couple times trouble identifying.. finally diagnosed as Cam Phaser defect. Researched and see a problem w fords for quite sometime. Have never received any notification. Called ford offering no help. Stuck w a $4000 $500 repair bill of which simply can't afford .. a five year old pickup due to a Ford defect.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The check engine warning light was illuminated. In addition, the vehicle was violently shaking. The contact stopped the vehicle, and the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with timing failure and cam phaser failure. The contact was informed that the cam phasers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. 10 speed Transmission bucks and jams when accelerating and bangs down shifting unexpectedly, creates an unsafe feeling with this action
Truck would down shift to 1 no matter what gear I was in and jerk. It would also shake and/or stall at random times. I was almost t-boned pulling out of my of my neighborhood and it stalling. I was also close to being read ended when truck was in 5th and jumped to one going down the road.
On my way home from work on 5/29 while driving on the freeway my 2019 Ford F150 with 79k miles on it began to shift weird and feel like the transmission was slipping. I got off on my exit and stopped at the stop light at which point my truck shuddered and shut off flashing an "Auto Stop/Start, put the vehicle in park and restart engine" warning. The light turned green and I restarted the engine and it shuddered and died again with the same warning. I restarted the engine and it seemed to work. I decided to drive the last 1 miler to my house. The next morning I took the truck to the Ford dealership. On my way the truck was hard downshifting, knocking, and then went into limp mode in the middle of an intersection. I pulled over and restarted the engine. I was able to get it into gear and drive to the dealership. On the way the truck downshifted from 6th gear to 1st gear on its own at 40mph. I was on the freeway when this happened. I was able to keep driving and the truck shifted into 10th gear. after a few seconds it then downshifted from 10th gear to 1st gear. I placed it in neutral to avoid getting rear ended or destroying the truck. I barely made it to the dealership. The dealership informed me 2 days later that the transmission was blown. They found chunks of metal in the transmission fluid and the following codes were displayed: P0767, P2535/P2703. No warning lights came on until the 10th to 1st downshift right before I made it to the dealership. This was a highly unsafe series of events that resulted in a destroyed transmission and a significant scare on my part while driving. Just blessed that no one rear ended me. The 10r80 transmissions have a TSB out on them but have no safety recall. This is not an anomaly. These same issues have been happening since 2019.
10 speed transmission started down shifting randomly, while on interstate or city driving. I had to start driving it in manual until I could get transmission replaced at dealership. This is happening to all these 10 speed transmissions from 2018- ~2023 ford and GM vehicles. This could have caused a fatality.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated when the vehicle was cold started, the vehicle rattled for several minutes until the engine warmed up. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 21N03 Cam Phaser Replacement (Engine). The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 MPH, the vehicle experienced a loss of motive power. The service engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the cam phasers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, out of pocket. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,618.
Passenger Side Cowl Seal Failure. The passenger side cowl seal fails. When this happens water can enter the vehicle and pour into the BCM (Body Control Module). Once water enters the BCM, it creates corrosion and will needs to be replaced along with the reprograming of all the keys. This is available upon request. My safety and the safety of others is put at risk because when water enters the BCM it causes the computer to short out. When this happens the horn will start beeping and the lights start flashing. This also sets off the vehicles security system. This happens when the vehicle is parked and turned off and when the vehicle is in motion. This puts people at risk because their security system will go off and will make owners think that their vehicle is being vandalized. While the vehicle is in motion the risk is that the horn is on and the lights are flashing making other motorists distracted and potentially causing accidents. The problem has been confirmed and reproduced by the dealer. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer and an new seal needs to be installed. There were no warnings until the issue started creating a very scary driving experience in which the horn was on and the lights were flashing. the only way to make it stop was to disconnect the battery rendering the vehicle unfit for the road
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle vibrated while accelerating and while parking. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 121,500.
The component in question was the transmission. It will take a month to get a new transmission installed. It is available for inspection and I have documentation from the shop. I was traveling in the center lane on I5 in heavy rain when the truck began to shift hard. After a few hard shifts I lost consistency with applying the throttle. The throttle would not respond and the truck would not accelerate. The traffic behind me (it was 5pm rush hour) was honking and swerving around me including semis. I was attempting to get over as soon as possible but with the loss of consistent acceleration and hard shifting with quick loss of power made the safe exit off the freeway a dangerous situation. Not every car could see I was in the center lane with my flashers on due to the rain and semi behind me. So when I would attempt to get over traffic that was cutting around in the slow lane would go flying by me and some expressed frustrations. The truck was brought into a shop and the issue presented on their first drive. The codes that were thrown and the hard shifting with loss of power caused them to determine it was the transmission. The shop has experience this situation with the transmission a few times in the last month they explained. The also showed me the burnt transmission fluid a d all the TSBs associated with the issue. The first warning light did not present itself until I was taking the truck to the shop. A symbol of a wrench that I had never seen before. Dash board notified me to "see owners manual". The truck was left running upon delivery so the shop could see the warning.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the vehicle made an abnormal rattling sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the variable camshaft timing (VCT), the timing chain, and tensioners had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 103,500.
I have had numerous issues with the transmission on this truck. The truck has been to dealerships ever since I bought it for transmission issues. New issue occurred this week while going 75mph and continually as I decreased speed down to 60mph. While driving at the high rate of speed the transmission would go from gear 10 straight to 1, causing the RPMs to spike and Redline once. This occurred 5 times during my drive within about 15 minutes until I was able to stop and leave the truck. No leaks of any transmission fluid was found and truck has had all of its annual inspections and work done according to Ford maintenance timelines and all work on truck has been done at Ford dealerships. I have complained to many dealerships about my transmission. One of the times the gear shifted to from 10 to 1 for a few seconds and then straight back to 10 after the RPMs spiking was recorded on video.

My wife was driving about 40 mph and the emergency collision alarm came on causing the vehicle to abruptly try to stop. San alarm went off in the dash indicating an imminent crash causing my wife to almost lose control of the vehicle. There was no vehicle in front of us and none in the opposing lane or behind us to trigger this response. My wife speculated maybe a bird flew across in front of us but I dodn,t see that. it was very alarming and almost caused her to lose control of the vehicle. I had this happen to me driving alone at about 40 mph. The only difference , there was a vehicle in front of m E but I was not close enough to trigger this safety alarm. The vehicle in front of me was not stopped and I was not close enough to trigger this response. I was at least4 or 5 car lengths away doing 40 mph. and they were traveling about the same speed. No rapid approach issue...
The transmission ten gear automatic. Won't go into fourth gear at at all keeps jumping when. Trying to go into first second and third then jumps four. Also on highway it will shut off all together or will start speeding up very dangerous. On side streets it's dies out even more unexpectedly trying to short gears. Already had it in once for problem with the front differential didn't switch gears and never got receipt and think did something to hubs like four thousand dollar fix. Now I serviced it for.seats they took it on took week to get part in and right tool to fix truck seat it stood with them a week before I called to see what deal.was I've seen problems with this ten gear transmission already and this will be second time trying to fix these trucks are junk. First problem I had the lights would go out in middle of the night while driving. Then lights Wont go off stay on killing battery already in second battery but to fix the transmission problem u half to use speed control just to keep it from shutting off or accelerated of speed. But with this being second time they better fix it if they don't they don't follow the extended warra.ty and want a payout for the full worth of the truck. It's aife threatening thing with this transmission. Plus had already like ten other recalls onnoy already it's a new truck I wouldn't buy one.
The car lost ALL POWER and the ability to accelerate for more than 10 seconds. Luckily cars coming form across moved to the side to not hit me. I was stuck in the middle of the intersection. I attempted to shift manually in a panic and the car slammed really hard in likely 1st gear, red-lineed for several seconds then inched forward enough to pull to the side. I was able to proceed forward stuck in 7th gear, where the car remained stuck in that gear. This was terrifying as I had ZERO ability to move forward, the engine was revving but no gears were available
Rear Camera Recalls for the F-150 are well documented, yet my VIN is omitted. For over a year, the image will be intermittently blue, black, and colored lines.

Rear back up camera does not work and says contact dealer. Goes from blue screen to camera is unavailable please contact dealership
Backup camera doesn't work. Ford keeps recalling backup camera all of the time, but mine still isn't included by the recalls. Why would mine not be included?
HARD SHIFTING ! NOT UP SHIFTING OR DOWN SHIFTING OR IT WILL GO FROM 10TH TO 1ST GEAR ON THE HWY CAUSING LOSS OF POWER, I HAD 2 SEMI TRUCKS RIGHT BEHIND ME ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT, WHEN STOPING AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN IT DOES NOT WANT TO GO FORWARD TRYING TO START IN A HIGHER GEAR, AND CAUSING ME TO BE STUCK IN THE INTERSECTION WITH ON COMING TRAFFICK. IT IS LOUNGING FORWARD ON ITS OWN, IT CAUSES THE RPM TO RED LINE WHEN YOU ARE NOT ACCELORATING EVEN AFTER YOU HAVE TAKEN YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS AND ARE APPLYING THE BRAKE. IT IS SKIPING GEARS IT WILL GO FROM 1 TO 7TH TO 10TH BACK DOWN TO 1ST ALL WITHIN A MATTER OF SECONDS, IT WILL DOWN SHIFT OR UP SHIFT AND JUMP SO HARD THAT IT HURTS MY BACK AND MAKES EVERYONE IN THE TRUCK SORE FEELING LIKE YOU GOT WHIPLASH. I DID TAKE THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN IT FIRST STARTED CLANKING HARD WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE OR REVERSE THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS NORMAL FOR THAT TRANSMISSION AND WOULDNT EVEN LOOK AT IT. SINCE THEN IT HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE I HAVE REACHED OUT TO SERVAL OTHER DEALERSHIPS AND EXPLAINED THE ISSUES THEY HAVE ALL TOLD ME THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS ISSUE. THEY ARE GETTING SO MANY REPORTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE, AND FORD HAS NOT FOUND A FIX FOR THE ISSUE. WHEN THIS FIRST STARTED THERE WERE NO WORNINGS AND NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH, NOW I AM GETTING NOTTIFICATIONS ON THE FORD APP AND THERE HAS BEEN A WRENCH LIGHT THTHAT COMES ON THE DASH PERIODICLY. CURRENTLY THE TRUCK IS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR A FULL TRANSMISSION REBUILD SUGGUSTED BY THEM. COSTING ALMOST $6000.00 AND ACOURDING TO THEM THIS IS THE ONLY FIX FOR IT AT THIS TIME. THE CLUTCH BASKET HAS FAILED SENDING IMPROPER FLUID PRESSURE THOUGH OUT THE TRANSMISSION.

Gears are slipping and fluttering between gears 3, 4, & 5. Research leads me to a TSB-2250 released by Ford in 8/2023, and it has caused me to lose speed/control when accelerating through traffic intersections and getting up to speed on the high way.

The Cam Phasers are going bad. This is a known issue with Ford 3.5l GTDI engines. They have published Customer Satisfaction Program 21N03 in relation to this matter. My 2019 F150 is experiencing failed cam phasers, which has been confirmed by the Ford dealership. I reached out to Ford to discuss the matter, but they stated my vehicle is not covered under this program. A claim report was started by Ford on my issue CXH01965202. The same failure described in the Ford document is happening in my vehicle, so I do not understand why my vehicle is being excluded. The failure is more widespread than what Ford is claiming, and they need to expand the program to include all impacted automobiles.
Engine failure. FoMoCo stated it was due to oil failure. I change my oil every 6000 miles according to manufacturer. I produced records for oil changes and receipts for first 3 oil changes but couldn’t for last 3. Engine had 42,000 miles. Warning light came on stating Temporary Emissions Disconnect but never had anything touched on the engine prior to light. Never found the problem. Engine started bucking and was using oil on return home. Ford dealership found #2 cylinder with no compression. Turbos may have blown and put compromised oil into engine causing issue. Dealership never investigated. Filed pictures, receipts and other documents to Ford Consumer Affairs to no avail. Had to have replaced engine on my dime. Old engine was returned to salvage yard used engine purchased from. Was able to limp back home but engine could have had catastrophic failure on the road. The truck has 50000 mile warranty plus I took out extended warranty (70000).

I was driving 75 when it first happened. My transmission went from 10th gear and down shifted to 1st gear. Then threw my check engine light and reduced power. I pulled over shut the truck off and the reduced power went away. However the check engine light stayed on. It’s happened multiple times. I took it to a ford dealership to check it out and they wanted 1k-1200 just to tear into the transmission to see without identifying that was 100 percent gonna fix it. I’ve seen where other 10 speed 5.0s have had the same issues. It got to where you can’t even drive it bc it would shift down while you would turn into an intersection a downshift putting you in major danger of ther vehicles. so it’s at an independent shop right now.
